I think my favorite piece of cultsim trivia is "professional occultist has said they can't play it because it's too close to their actual job"

Initiates of the hidden world use spintriae to pay for services. Bronze spintriae usually display the act of shaping on their reverse side.
hi cultist simulator fandom. i made bronze spintrias real had a chance to work with real metal and create something for once. used bronze for this for realism's sake i don't know which bronze alloy i used actually. i can ask my professor if you need that they were created by investment casting technique. after they were tumbled, i used a bit of niello (which, imo, didn't really stick to em) and then polished them until they became shiny i enjoy them so much

book of hours gets you in character with it's limited UI and emphasis on the passage of time and the weather; cultist simulator gets you into character by luring you in with the Glory until you realize its 3 in the morning and you're frantically re-reading lore while juggling four different tasks and trying to combat fascination while a hunter is on your tail and you still haven't done the dishes in your real actual life

I love how some of the Hours are like, The Forge Whose Love* Shattered The Sun, The Blood-Spawned Wolf Who Will Devour The World, or The Fountain Of All Carnal and Cannibalistic Delights, and others are just.... yeah he's a funky little bird guy who really likes watching people get it on. And over here we have a mole who likes burying things in the woods. Not people, just metaphysical trinkets <3. Or can I introduce you to the incurable gossip who really likes sightseeing?

Parasitic Games
So I've been rewatching Gravity Falls, right? And reading the Book of Bill, of course. And also playing a lot of Cultist Simulator? Which is a weird one but also a very specific combination of vibes.
Anyway I blacked out and finally wrote a twin pair of journaling games, A CALAMITOUS COINCIDENCE and THE ALCHEMIST. I wrote them in my dark basement research center (apartment) while remembering only occasionally to fulfill my obligations to the outside world (still going to work, I guess) while attempting to string together the clues and assemble, at last, my magnum opus (get them on the actual page, or screen I guess).
Anyway, let's do some normal ad copy.
Calamitous Coincidence is based on stories of lonely investigators, clever children, and inescapable tragedy (like A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and Gravity Falls) while The Alchemist lets you jump right in to bullshit esoteric thinking inspired by absolute freaks like John Dee and Aleister Crowley (or Cultist Simulator and Susanna Clarke's Piranesi, which are the reasons I actually wrote it).
I'm really putting that religion degree to good work, huh?
Tumblr media
Both games give you the tools you need to figure out who you are in the world, what you're looking for, and where you think you'll find it -- neither give you the answers you're looking for. You'll have to find those yourself.
Tumblr media
Both games are prototypes, currently available on Patreon for anyone paying $3 or more. As always with my patreon stuff, I extremely, extremely encourage you to sign up for a month, download the stuff you're interested interested in, and then cancel. It still means a lot.
Tumblr media
Both games have been setting my brain on fire for the last month and a half, and I'm glad to get them out into the world (even if they are still a little broken).
Tumblr media
I hope you like them:)

The Principles in The Secret Histories are so funny cus like, you've got cultists of shit like the Lantern, who are all, "I will use my unnatural knowledge to ascend into a higher plane! Nothing shall stand in my way as i surge ever onwards into the light!" and then you've got some random Edge cultist who's like, "Oh yeah? Say that to this knife I found five minutes ago!"

I'm a one-man Edge dyad. I'm a Worm of a Scale. I'm a freak. I'm a real creature. I'm what Hersault was hiding from under the floorboards. I speak Cracktrack, Vak, Hyskos, Cunnilingual, and Wolf. There are worms under my skin, but I'm about to do enough Lantern-infused perks to make my eyes bleed light. This shit ain't nothing to me, man.
