Hey my loves of my besties.
This post is a bit personal now. It is a story about Sleep Token, to be exact it is my story with them.
Because it still feels surreal to me.
So... it all started on January 7 in Dusseldorf, Germany, Mitsubishi Electric Hall.
I was there with one of my friends from uni, and also with my male best friend, we decided to see Architects and Northlane. We couldnt care less about the boys (I am very sorry for that now), they weren't relevant to us.
But after opening up with Chokehold and playing Alkaline, dude holy shit, they got me.
I started digging into their music, listened to every song ever since. And then I realized, they once were in my Spotify suggestions with "Hypnosis". But hell, that was back in 2022, and I had no idea.
But when Vore was released and they announced their Wembley ritual I tried to find someone who wanted to go with me. This is how I met a friend who now is coming with me to Birmingham and Cardiff. My friend from uni also wanted to join us.
My old blog went through so many changes, from James McAvoy to Pedro Pascal to Sleep Token. And then it got deleted. It didn't stop me. Tumblr couldn't stop my obsession.
So... I created an account again, ...
This baby, vesselsscarlet.
I didn't know it would end up as a blog with at least 200 followers, and people actually liking my stuff and ... Most importantly..
Me. Lia. That person that runs this account.
My darlings.. oh my darlings..
@moonchild-in-blue @ittwuh (I miss you darling) @autumns-veil @a-s-levynn and @con-clavi-con-jae were the first people that decided to be my besties. And then it was followed by lovie herself @fivewholeminutes and also dearest @thejawsoffate ...
Like ... how did this happen? I barely knew any people and now... I've got these people here. Wanted to be friends with me.
My account blew up... I didn't know what to do..
But @takemetoasgard @sleeby-vessel @polteergeistt @aquareegia @sleep-token @sleepanonymous @alexghost07 @the-devoured @nullcode @ccsven and even the ones I barely/never really talked to (I am sorry, I suck at interactions but ily) but are also worth mentioning... as for: @loveinthemindpalace @houseofache @ghxstly-death @crying-neptune @eepymonstrr @thevenomousseprent .. and so many more..
I cannot express anything that is showing my gratitude towards you all.
You all... made it special. You are the reason why I am still up here.
And when it comes to the UK Tour this year...
I cannot believe it but I am gonna do it with so many amazing people (either for the entire four rituals or a few or just meeting up for one particular ritual):
@fivewholeminutes @a-s-levynn @thejawsoffate @moonchild-in-blue @sleeby-vessel @alexghost07 Alina (my very first sleep token friend who got me the Wembley tickets) and Philipp (my uni friend)...
If you made it this far...
Thank you for being here. Thank you for being my friend/mutual.
And if you are specifically tagged..
I hope you don't mind it. But ....
Thank you so much to you as well for being my bestie. You are the best.
And thank you to Sleep Token for gifting me these incredible people.
With that being said...
Lets keep this up, and I am glad to be here.🥺

OK! In an attempt to move on from those asshats, how about you give us some more nuclear facts? Assuming you're still interested in that topic.
(Also Jeffrey Wright is obviously the far superior Jim Gordon. No shade on Goldman but come on)
Sure thing! :D
So back in December 2001, 3 men 50km from Lia, Georgia (the country, not the state) came across 2 metal cylinders in the middle of the forest. They noticed that the snow was melted around the cylinders and decided to use them as heat sources when they camped for the night.
What they didn't know was that these cylinders were actually radioisotope thermal electric generators a.k.a. RTGs.
RTGs carry extremely radioactive material meant to generate electricity via radioactive decay. We actually use RTGs for spacecraft or remote areas like the Arctic. The Soviet Union was even using RTGs to power lighthouses and navigational beacons.
The Soviet Union had created 8 of these RTGs full of strontium 90 (a man-made radioactive isotope with many uses from medical studies to space stations, and a half life of 28yrs) in order for Georgia to better power their relay stations and the Khudoni Dam (which was meant to generate electricity to areas without power) throughout the country.
I believe it was in 1983 or 1984 when they made these, but don't quote me on that.
HOWEVER.
Before the RTGs could even be installed, Georgia gained it's independence from the Soviet Union (8 months before the fall of the Soviet Union). So the RTGs and the Khudoni Dam were temporarily abandoned as a result.
When the Soviet Union fell, orphan sources ("self-contained radioactive source that is no longer under proper regulatory control and poses an immediate radiological threat") were left behind without any warning signs or protection. Orphan sources can be anything from an abandoned RTG, medical equipment, to a nuclear warhead.
Just in case it wasn't clear, orphan sources are not a strictly Soviet Union thing. There have been many unfortunate cases of orphan sources killing people from all over the world.
4 of the 8 abandoned RTGs meant for Georgia were found between 1998-1999 and were safely discovered and removed.
Which brings us back to the 2 RTGs discovered in Lia in 2001. The 3 men were originally looking for firewood when they came across the 2 abandoned RTGs. By the time they discovered the RTGs, it was already really late in the evening so the men decided to make camp instead of traveling all the way back to Lia and decided to use the RTGs as heat sources.
Keep in mind, the men had no idea that the metal cylinders they found were RTGs. They were in the middle of the forest in extremely cold temperatures and were simply looking for a suitable heat source to keep them warm until they could go looking for more firewood again in the morning.
Unfortunately, one of the men tried to picking it up one of the RTGs with their bare hands and dropped it immediately because of how hot it was. They dragged the RTGs with some metal wires to their camp and sat with their backs touching the RTGs while they ate dinner.
Within a few hours they were vomiting. When they woke up the next morning, they were so dizzy and weak that they could barely load up even half of the firewood they had originally gathered up. Still not knowing that their heat sources were RTGs, 2 of them created packs to carry the RTGS on their backs as they continued to make the trek through the forest for hours in an attempt to try and find the additional firewood they needed.
Eventually, they abandoned the RTGs, but by then it was far too late. For weeks their symptoms persisted and grew worse until their families notified the local authorities of the men's conditions. They were, of course, immediately hospitalized.
If you weren't aware already, radiation breaks DNA down on the atomic level which leads to cancer, cell mutation or impaired function of the body's cells and organs. White blood cells, our body's natural defense mechanism, can't fight off any infections because the radiation straight up kills them. As a result, wounds don't heal and it's incredibly difficult to treat them.
I'll spare you the gory details.
One of the men died from cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure after 893 days of exposure to the RTGs. Another man recovered and was discharged from the hospital after 490 days of exposure. The third man was released early as his injuries were mild in comparison to the others after only 52 days of exposure.
Fortunately, the IAEA a.k.a. the International Atomic Energy Agency was quick to get involved once Georgia's government reached out to them for assistance. They were able to successfully remove the abandoned RTGs and even came back in 2003 to extensively search the rest of Georgia for any other potential orphan sources.
They found 300.
As far as we know, 2 of the remaining 8 RTGs are still missing to this day.

Endo + extremely irregular cycles (that may or may not be PCOS but still waiting on that diagnosis) + PMDD is the fucking worst combo… I get 1 week or so in intense physical pain while bleeding, another week or 2 as a Functional Person, then an unknown number of ❔Mystery Weeks❔dealing with intense anxiety, cravings, breast tenderness, hypersensitivity, & volatile mood swings… and then it all starts over again!

ESPN released a segment honoring the achievements of female athletes in observance of Women’s History Month, but included a trans-identified male swimmer known for making his female teammates uncomfortable.
The sports network honored Lia Thomas in a Sunday segment titled “Celebrating Women’s History Month.” In the segment, Thomas’ “transition” was discussed, as well as his win at the NCAA Championships in 2022.
The ESPN clip, broadcast during their usual schedule, was set to emotional music, and featured soundbites of Thomas from interviews he has given. In the video, Thomas says he is aware that many are certain he made his “transition” so he could win swim races, but he insisted that he “transitioned to be happy.”
ESPN, like most other mainstream outlets, used “she/her” pronouns to refer to Thomas throughout.
Despite having a lackluster career in men’s swimming prior to his transition, Thomas has been smashing records in women’s swimming. He won both an Ivy League Championship and an NCAA Championship in the women’s category, and has broken a total of six women’s records. In the past, an anonymous teammate accused Thomas of having deliberately lost a race in order to downplay his physical advantage.
Female athletes, including Thomas’ own teammates, women’s rights activists, and concerned citizens, have all taken issue with Thomas’ participation and achievements in the women’s category.
Riley Gaines, a University of Kentucky graduate and accomplished All American swimmer, reacted to Thomas’ feature by ESPN.
The same day as the clip aired, Gaines tweeted: “Lia Thomas is not a brave, courageous woman who EARNED a national title. He is an arrogant, cheat who STOLE a national title from a hardworking, deserving woman.”
Gaines blamed the NCAA for giving Thomas the opportunity to compete as a male against female athletes, and called for a boycott of ESPN, stating that she would “walk out” if she worked for the sports streaming platform.
The female athlete was forced to share the podium with Thomas in 2022 in a tie for fifth place in the 200 freestyle race. The NCAA told her that although it was a tie, they wanted Thomas to hold the fifth-place trophy and her to hold the sixth-place trophy “for a photo op.”
Earlier this year, Gaines also revealed to media that Thomas had been exposing himself in front of his female teammates in the women’s locker rooms. Her claims echoed those from January of 2022, when anonymous female teammates told the Daily Mail that they felt “uncomfortable” with Thomas’ access to their intimate spaces. The whistleblowers reported that they have seen Thomas’ genitals, which they said he sometimes does not cover when in the presence of the women in the changing rooms.
In February of 2022, a letter was sent to the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia District Attorney citing potential violations of Pennsylvania law, Title IX, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, Relationship Violence and Stalking Policy as a result of the female swimmers being forced to share a changing facility with Thomas.
The letter was drafted by two women’s rights campaign groups, Women’s Declaration International and Keep Prisons Single Sex USA, citing concerns for the safety of Thomas’ female teammates.
In the past, one of Thomas’ teammates said in an interview that she hoped to have sons rather than daughters, citing a foreseen lack of opportunities in sport for girls.
“If [she has] any girls that want to play sports in college, good luck. [Their opponents] are all going to be biological men saying that they’re women… Right now we have one, but what if we had three on the team? There’d be three less girls competing.”
Thomas has been described by some as exhibiting symptoms of autogynephilia based on his online activity. Last year, internet sleuths dug up social media history linked to Thomas which included the “liking” of many posts about the disorder, which is characterized by a male experiencing sexual arousal at the thought of himself as a woman.
Thomas also “liked” trans-identified male Fallon Fox’s photos bragging about badly injuring a woman during a fight.
Amidst growing pushback, the World Athletics recently announced they would be prohibiting transgender athletes who have undergone “male puberty” from competing in women’s world ranking competitions. During a press conference last week, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe cited scientific consideration and fairness for female athletes, stating he and the organization “believe the integrity of female category in athletics is paramount.”
While many are seeing the ban as a win, others are critical of the specifics of the ban. As it was specified that only males who have undergone “male puberty” are banned from competing against women, there are skeptics who anticipate that this wording may drive some to push puberty blocking drugs upon “transgender” children.

The fact so many people are so quick to defend JYP even if there's so much evidence of him being the worst boss imaginable. Just because putting pressure on people in a work environment is normalised does not mean that it's okay. The song being good is not an excuse for how visibly anxious and upset he makes them. We've seen the girls record with other producers and we've seen the girls male mistakes with other producers. The environment was never this heavy, they never put so much pressure and stress on the girls to the extent he does. This shit shouldn't be normal and every time we make excuses for this kind of behaviour it keeps being perpetuated.
#snowdd.txt#mfs saying 'you've never been in a wirk environment' dpmo...#how tf do you see your so called faves experiencing textbook workplace mistreatment and just shrug it off like???#he has a history of being like this there is no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt#until they release what it was he said to make Yeji cry#and we get some valid explanation on why he made Lia cry FROM HIS MOUTH#i ain't defending that man

@robustcornhusk linked to this in reference to voice, but it dredged up a lot of thoughts and memories. I was surprised that the author was surprised in retrospect by the anorexia theme and hadn't noticed it on their first few read-throughs. We're talking about books about the glamour and flash of LA and Vegas in the 90s; of course the heroines are heroin-chic anorexic!
The retrospective judgement of it, the present day shying away from even the willingness to admit that it's true but wrong to say, that whole desire to cover up how the (not looking like a) sausage is made.
The books themselves shy away from f/f, certainly... But again, so did the world, and they're a pretty accurate documentation of what a certain subculture was like then. Francesca Lia Block was a queer YA author once.

#30DaysofPride: Day 13- Renee Richards
In light of the news that Lia Thomas will not be participating in this year's Olympic Games, let’s talk about a tennis star who fought for and won her chance to play in the U.S. Open.

last day of the greatest month ever, and imma be honest.
this was probably the most uneventful Black History Month™ i've ever experienced. but that's really just for me, personally.
white people mocking and taunting us even more during the month, diaspora within our people at an all time high, superiority challenges between lightskin n darksin, whose food is better, who should be able to say the n-word.
give all of this and more, i just wanna say... WE ALL BLACK, FUCKIN ACT LIKE IT.
the lightkin fully grown man you keep makin fun of for being 'soft' is just as black as you, the darkskin girl you keep makin fun of for being 'too manly, loud and aggressive' is just as black as you.
we (very rightfully, don't get me wrong) come at yt people for discrimination against us (i am not defending them, trust) when we do it to an insane degree.
all that being said, if you have melanin in your skin and hair that you can't easily run your fingers through, and a beautiful wide nose— happy black history month.
#!! lia speaks !!#and only black people can call this cringe#black history is everybody's history#black history is american history#happy black history month#black history month#celebrate black creators#black girl magic#black boy magic
