194 countries around the world are looking at the USA with a mix of concern, shock, discomfort, and a little bit of disgust. More than half of you lot are 100% fine with this kind of representation. Mexico and Canada are standing there like we've both realized we have the same incurable STD from touching the same contaminated toilet seat.

Yeah, some USA citizens tried to stop the madness but point of indisputable fact is that the larger portion of the United States of America cannot be bothered to cogitate, forward think, or learn to set aside their differences in order to support their mutual strengths. That so many segments of their population actively and eagerly voted against their own best interest is the saddest commentary of our time.

In my humble opinion, the great American experiment is dead in the water. Close the lab. Submit all reports in single syllable formats because no one there can understand big words anymore. The dictatorship has begun and the citizens have participated in the last free election they'll likely ever hold.

In a year, when we are looking at the smoking ruins of all the wasted potential, we can all look to our own leadership, vote those gullible vacant eyed posers out, and replace them with people we can tolerate. We need to actively save ourselves right now, before intolerance becomes normalized. In fact, don't wait a year. Start today. Scrutinize and critique whomever is in charge of your voting area. Hound them, if necessary. Make sure they know what you want and what you won't tolerate in someone who runs our government. Make sure their policies aren't garbage. Make sure their goals align with yours. Be a Karen, but for good.

I knew well in advance that Gen Z men were going to politically stab us in the back (and this is coming from a Gen Z man myself who hasn’t been radicalized). Is there a Tumblr social convention where if someone says they are asking a question in good faith they are actually not asking that question because they want an answer, and instead are trying to make a statement, even though that would mean the exact opposite of what they said (like how most fic authors would absolutely not want constructive criticism even when they ask for it)? Just saw Neil Gaiman had reblogged a political post by Cory Doctorow with an unironic guillotine picture at the top in which he advocated for "left populism," and I made the mistake of clicking on a link to one of his blog posts in which he lamented that Jeremy Corbyn had been "smeared by Labour's right." I am now profoundly disappointed in both of them. Corbyn and the Labour Party he fostered were antisemitic in the bad old model of Stalin, and populism, Left or Right, is always bad for the Jews. If you encourage bloodthirsty vengeance against a small minority who are not considered a true part of "The People" and can be blamed for all of society's ills and purged, it will not stay confined to billionaires. You can advocate for more egalitarian economic policies without resorting to dangerous populist rhetoric. We agree that there should not be billionaires, but that can and should be achieved with confiscatory taxes, not summary executions that open the door to arbitrary purges led by those who claim to speak for "The People."

I am proudly and always will be a liberal, in the sense that I believe individual rights to life, basic liberties, and due process must be considered sacrosanct. This does not entail the kind of "economic liberalism" that Leftists think necessarily goes along with it; property and financial rights do not have to be included among the basic ones.
