Numb
Summary: Leah and Sophia´s relationship take a hit when one of them gets a high risk injury.
.
I live for games like this. Every Chelsea-Manchester City confrontation was already exciting, fighting for the top of the league made it more intense, more physical, every atack turning into a battle.
The grass beneath my boots felt slick with dew, the floodlights overhead casting long shadows across the pitch. The roar of the crowd was a distant hum in my ears, my focus locked on the ball as it darted between players. We were pushing hard, pressing their defense, and I could feel the momentum shifting in our favor.
I sprinted down the right wing, my heart pounding in rhythm with my steps. The ball was coming my way, a perfect cross from the other side of the field. All I had to do was make a little jump to stop it with my chest, I could already see the opening—a quick touch, and I'd have a clear shot on goal.
But non of that gets to happen.
I barely registered the defender jumping behind me until it was too late. Her body came in hard and fast, and I felt the impact before I saw it. Her knee collided with my lower back, and a sharp, searing pain shot up my whole body.
Crack
That's all I heard, the sound of the fans cheering long gone.
My balance faltered, and I went down hard, the world tilting as I hit the ground.
The pain was immediate and all-consuming. I scream my heart out, raising one of my hands to the bench.
It wasn't the dull ache of a bruise or the sharp sting of a scrape—this was something deeper, something felt horribly wrong. I clutched my lower back instinctively, the throb of agony radiating through me with every heartbeat.
"Fuck" I hiss through clenched teeth, squeezing my eyes shut for a moment.
Around me, the game continued for a few more seconds before the referee's whistle pierced the air. I could hear footsteps approaching, hurried and heavy. Lucy was by my side in an instant.
"Kid, you alright?" she asks, her voice laced with concern.
"My back... it's..." I can´t finish the sentence. The words were caught in my throat, tangled with the rising panic that I was trying desperately to suppress.
The team physio was next to arrive, her kit bag slung over her shoulder as she knelt down to assess the damage. "Where's the pain?" Laura asks, her voice calm and professional.
Where's the pain? Everywere. My whole body was feeling like I was on fire, I certantly can't be on fire, right? I can feel it everywere exept for- wait.
I don't feel it everywere.
Why can't I feel it everywere?
"I- I can't feel my legs" I mutter, barely able to get the word out. "I can't-"
Lucy, who was crouching by my side, looks up to the physio with horror in her eyes. Laura nods, her hands moving with practiced efficiency, she gently prodded and pressed around my back. I winced, biting down hard on my lip to keep from yelling. Lucy's hand on my shoulder was the only comfort i could feel.
"Alright," she says after a moment, her expression unreadable. "We're going to get you off the field."
Two more staff members appeared with a stretcher, and my heart sank. I could feel the weight of the crowd's eyes on me, the murmurs of concern rippling through the stands. My own teammaters watching from the distance doing the same.
The pain was so unbeareble I could no longer understand what was happening in the field
"Soph, I need to turn you around so we can get you on the stretcher, okay?" Laura´s voice capture my attention
I manage to make a small nod. I bit down hard on my lip as different hands grabbed me to start moving my upper body but even the smallest move sent a fresh wave of pain through my entire back.
"Stop, stop, stop" the doctors begin to move faster "Please stop"
"We are almost there Soph, you are doing great" Laura says, her voice gentle in a desperate attempt to soothe me.
I couldn´t control the grunt I made when my back hit the stretcher.
All I could feel was pain, all the time, everywhere. Everywhere exept for my legs. Why can't I feel them?
That is the only thought that keeps my mind while they carry me to the locker room.
"Laura, I can't feel them" I repeat the same thing over and over again.
"Okay, we are going to do some tests, alright?"
I lift my head just in time to see her take my boots off and grab my foot with her hand.
"Can you wiggle your toes for me?"
I try with all the strenght I have left to move something, anything. My mind only focusing in getting my toes to move.
And it completly breaks me when all I could see was my unmoving foot, and when I look at ther I knew she wasn't feeling anything either. I lay my head back on the stretcher, tears streaming down my face for the first time since the hit.
"We are going to the hospital to make more scans, its normal to feel some numbness after that hit" her tone was calm, her hand beggan to stroke my hair "Don't overthink it just yet, okay?" I nodd
My arms cover my eyes, in an attempt to hyde myself under them, bringing me into the darkness.
Leah's POV
Soph
Hey
17:08
Saw what happened
17:08
You alright?
17:09
Call me when you can
17:45
Delivered
That was the last message I send her before I went out the field. Two hours ago. Me and the girls were watching the Chelsea game on our way to the stadium, when we saw her going down.
Going down and not being able to get up. Two hours, and still no response.
I was still sitting on my cubby, full kit, boots still on, not caring about the post match celebrations that were happening in the changing room. My full attention was on my phone, searching on the internet for some news. My concern only growing by the minute, I stepped outside of the room to call the person I knew was by her side.
"Leah" Her voice echoed through the receiver.
"Mills thank god." I breath relieved "I saw what happend. Are you with her? Is she alright?"
"I don't know Le." I could hear her shaky voice "I'm in the hospital right now, they are still doing some scans. But It doesn't look good"
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "Were you able to talk to her?"
"No. I came here as soon as the match ended." There was a long pause between us, not really knowing what to say "I really think you should come Leah"
I nodded, even though she can't see it.
"Okay, I'll be there. Can you send me the location?"
"Yeah"
I don't remember how I arrived to the hospital, my mind full of thoughts, my legs working on pure instinct.
The only faces I recognized when I arrived were the ones of Millie and Lucy, standing at the end of the hall, still wearing their pre match clothes. Some of the Chelsea's staff members were standing outside a room chatting with a doctor.
"She is in there." Lucy pointed with her head the door facing us. "They can let us in once they talk to her"
I watch as the doctor opens the door to step inside the room, I desperatly poked my head to try and see some fraction of her body, something that tells me that she was alright. But the door is closed before I can see anything.
"What did they said?" Millie asks to one of the physios once she aproach
"She has a transverse process fracture of the third lumbar vertebra. There's damage to the nervous system, so that explains the numbness she was feeling on her legs"
I laid my back on the nearest wall, not being able to process everything that I was hearing. I close my eyes, trying to steady my breathing. This can't be happening. That was it? Is this the end of her career? Will she not be able to play football again?
"Will she be able to walk again?" Lucy asks, fearing for the answer
"She is going to need a lot of physical therapy, but I know she will" her eyes found mine "Its going to be a very long and painful recovery, she will need help"
I nodd with tears in my eyes, not being able to form any words.
"Thank you Laur" Millie said while hugging her.
The three of us sat on the chairs nearby to wait for the doctor to come out of the room. To tired to speak to one another, embracing the silence as our new companion. I text my mother letting her know what was happening, in also a desperate way to ask her for some comfort.
"What are you thinking of, Le?" Lucy laid a gentle hand on my shoulder.
"I can't believe this is happening" my eyes were still staring at the door "I mean, why now? At the peak of her career"
"She will recover from this"
"I know she will. But at what cost, Lucy?" I turn around to look at her "Being away for this long breaks you, you know that"
"She's got you." her hand strokes up and down my back "And she's got us, she is not doing this alone"
Our conversation was cut short when we heard the door open, the doctor aproaching us as we stand up.
"I explained her condition to her, got her nerves to calm down a little. She is going to spend the night here for observation and tomorrow will be able to go home, okay?" The three of us nodded "She will need to fully rest for the next 3 days, after that she will beggin with the physical therapy."
"Can we see her now?" I ask, impatient.
"Of course, she was in a lot of pain so we got to administrate her some painkillers. You may find her asleep, but you can keep her company"
"Thank you, Doctor" Millie says as he walked off
"Guys, you can go now. I got her from here" I say, my voice tired.
Lucy's half open eyes shot me a glare "You sure? We can go in with you"
"Lucy, you can bearly keep your eyes open, both of you are. Go home, you can come by tomorrow"
"Ok, but don't even hesitate to call us if you need anything" Lucy says, while embracing me in a warm hug.
"I won't, thank you guys"
I grabb the handle of the door and before I trun it, I take a long breath, my eyes shut close, trying to compose myself before going in. To try and be strong, for her.
Once I enter, my entire weight goes lighter the moment I look at her. I can feel every though that was haunting my mind, evaporate. Eyes close, slow breathing, laying on a bed that made her look smaller than she was. An oxygen mask covering half of her face, and IV plugged in her right hand.
And even that way, she was still the most beatiful girl I've ever seen.
I move around the room in silence, scared of making the tiniest sound that could wake her, I sit on the chair next to her bed. I grabb her hand, interwining our fingers in a gentle embrace. To let her know, even in her deep sleep, I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere.
I gently laid my head on the matress, next to her legs. I was losing the battle with exhaustation as my eyelids beggan to close on their own, only wanting to look at her peaceful face a little while longer. Well aware that in a couple of hours, all that she was going to feel was rough pain.
My body aches from the match, my mind felt heavy with untranquilizer thoughts. The quiet ambience of the hospital and the sound of the beeping monitor lulled me to sleep. Not even realizing I drifted off when I feel a gentle hand stroking my head.
When I open my eyes the first thing I look for is her. Still lying on the bed, this time with her eyes half open, a small smile on her lips, her finger caressing my cheek.
"Hey" I say, my voice rough from sleeping.
She gave me another smile, the hearing of my voice soothing her "They got me good" a small fog apeared on her mask when she speaks.
I prop my myself up on one elbow so I can look at her properly "They did. How are you feeling now?"
"I can'feel them Le" her voice quiver, realizing all over again what was happening to her.
"I know" I lay a gentle hand on her arm, in a desperate way to bring her some calm, pretending that I'm not terrified myself. "You'll be alright. I'm here now, okay?"
She nods with her eyes closed, careful not to spill any tears. A classic move of her. To pretend that nothing hurts in front of others, suffering in the privacy of her own company.
"Why don't you sleep for a little while? It's still early"
"Hurts" she mumbles, not being able to form a full sentence.
"Want me to page the nurse?"
She shakes her head through gritted teeth, careful not to move to much to send her back some pain.
"Just want you" she opens her eyes, waiting for my reaction.
I smile at her confession, lifting myself from the chair and sitting on the edge of the bed "Okay" I lay a hand on her head, stroking her hair gently "Try and get some sleep for me, okay? I'm not going anywhere" she closes her eyes again, laying her hand on my thigh, trying to get as close to me as she can.
The next few hours were hard. For both of us. They said It was going to be a painful recovery, but none of us expect this kind of painful. Every toss and turn of her body put her in an unexplainable amount of pain, every grunt or cry she made sent daggers to my heart. I couldn't do anything but be with her, grabbing her hand in a strong grip, repeating the same words: I'm here.
The travel back to my place was everything but pleasent. I needed the help from my mother and a nurse to put her on a wheelchair, her body so weak we had to treat her properly to not make it worse. Her face was covered by her hand once I wheeled her down the hall, ashamed of not being able to walk on her own.
We guide her as gentle as possible in the back of my car, sitting myself next to her, letting my mum drive us to the apartment. As soon as we laid her in my bed she was out, the travelling and the movement worning her out. I beggan to wander around my apartment, making sure we got everything she needs when she wakes up.
"Leah" my mother stops my rambling "Go take a shower, I got her"
"Mum I-" I beggin to protest
"She is sleeping Bubb, nothing is going to happen" She aproachs me, caressing my face with her hands "You need to take care of yourself too" I close my eyes giving her a gentle nod.
I didn'know how much I needed that shower once the first droplets of water landed on my body. I take a long and hot one, the one that makes you dizzy once you step out, hopping that the high temperature will erase the tension my body was feeling. Once I came out my apartment was sparkling, the laundry no longer in the basket, the dishes clean and dry, the smell of freshly made food was invading the whole floor.
"You didn't have to mum" I tell her once I stepped on the kitchen.
She turned around with a small smile on her face.
"Is the least I could do for you too" she continues to stir the pot. My eyes beggan to fill with tears, realising how much I need her in times likes this, her presence a constant comfort. "I really need to go home now. Are you alright to finish this up?"
I nodd "Yeah, don't worry mum. Go home"
"I love you, baby. Call me if you need anything, okay?" she circles my body with her arms.
I hug her for a long time, wanting to stay protected under the warm arms of my mother. But it was time for grown up Leah to step up now.
For the next few days, I couldn't take my eyes off of her for a minute, staying on alert to every single thing she needed. She needed help sitting up, she needed help going to the bathroom, even to roll her around on the bed. And I know it was begging to frustrate her, since she was not speaking, at all. Only nodding or shaking her head if needed.
"The girls are asking if it's okay to pass by" I try
She dosen't bother to look at me, her eyes looking straight forward to the tv, making a shrugging gesture.
"C'mon, It will make you feel good"
She closes her eyes and take a deep breath, in clear annoyance.
"I'm trying here Soph" I confess after a moment of silence "I'm trying to make you feel better. I know I can't take the pain you are feeling right now, but I want to make things easier."
She stays with her eyes close.
After a minute of pure silence again, my patience was beggining to wear out. "That's all I'm getting from you? Your silence?"
"I don't want to argue with you right now Leah" she opens her eyes again.
"We are not arguing, we are having a conversation" I gently grab her cheeks and turn her to face me "Talk to me, please" I plead, my eyes searching for hers "I want to know how you are feeling. I want you to verbalize it, with words, not just with gestures. If you are angry and you want to scream and fight with me, that's alright. And if you are feeling devastated and want to cry your eyes out, that's okay too. What is not okay is you shutting me out, It's not helping you and it's not helping me either. Let yourself feel. It kills me to look at you like this, so I want to help you in everything that I can, okay?"
"Okay" she gives me a gentle smile.
I pull her body closer, cradling her head to my neck, giving a short kiss to her forehead. Hoping that she finds some peace in my embrace.
After a while, my eyelids fluttered as I began to stir, the sound pulling me from the depths of sleep. At first, I wasn't sure what had woken me. But then I heard it again, this time louder: a gasping, labored breath. My chest was pressed onto the matress, facing her body. I oppened my eyes in an instant.
"Soph?" I mumbl, my voice thick with sleep. I propped myself up blinking against the dimness. My eyes adjusting quickly, and there she was, trying to sit uptight to press her back to the headboard. Her body trembling like a taut wire, shoulders rising and falling in uneven jerks.
I reach out, my hands grabbing her by the elbows to lift her up propperly. Her hand grabs my shirt and yank it desperatly.
"Soph, hey, what's wrong?"
Her breath was catching in her throat as if the air itself had betrayed her. I gently laid my palms on her cheeks, caughting a glimpse of her wide tear-brimmed eyes.
"I...I can't..." she gasps, her other hand clutching at her chest. Her fingers dug into the fabric of her pajama top "I can't breathe..."
"Hey, hey, it's okay," I say, my voice low and steady. "You're safe. I'm here."
She shooks her head, her breath hitching again. "It's...it's too much...I—" Her words dissolved into a sob, raw and guttural. She squeezes her eyes shut.
"Love, listen to me," I say firmly but gently, my hands still resting on the side of her face. I grabb her hand that was on me and put it straight to my chest. "I need you to follow my breathing, okay?" I inhaled deeply, exaggerating the motion so she could follow.
Her breaths were shaky, uneven, she was trying to follow my rythm. But she couldn't. She shakes her head despertly, tears spilling out of her eyes.
My body acts before my mind can process what I´m doing. I pulled my shirt off my head leaving my chest naked, doing the same with her. I gently grabb her by the waist to move her body foward to slide myself behind her, her back pressed to my front. Her body trapped between my legs.
"Breathe with me," I coax gently "In... out... just like that." I take a deep, audible breath, holding it for a moment before exhaling slowly.
Her trembling fingers found my hand, clutching it with strength. While my other one was stroking her hair back. The warmth of my body press to hers began to cut through the haze. Her gasps became less frantic, her breaths slowly syncing with mines.
"There you go," I murmur, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. "You're doing great. I got you baby."
Tears streamed down her face, dampening her cheeks. She squeezes my hand, a silent plea to not let go.
"You're alright love, It's okay" I kiss her bare shoulder "I got you"
Minutes passed in silence, the only sound was our synchronized breathing. The storm inside her began to subside, leaving exhaustion in its wake. Her muscles relaxed, though her grip on my hand remained firm.
"I'm sorry," she whispers, her voice hoarse. I shake my head, circling her waist with one arm, giving her side a gentle squeeze.
"What happened?" I put my cheek on her shoulder to look at the side of her face
She took a long breath and shut her eyes. Those beautiful eyes of hers.
"I-" she clears her voice "I woke up needing to pee.. and I was still drowsy from sleep and the meds." She takes a long pause "My mind forgot that they don't work, and I just began to panic. I don't know."
I place a gentle kiss on her neck, a simple gesture to remind her; I´m still here, Im not going anywhere.
"What if they dont ever get to work again Leah?" she says, her voice trembling
"Don't think of that"
"It could happen. What then?" her eyes, full of tears, searched mine.
"Then we will figure it out. Together."
Tears began to flow down her cheeks rapidly, and then, after 3 days she finally said it.
"Im so scared Leah" she breathes.
That was it. So confident of herself Sophia was breaking, and seeing her like that, was it for me. My heart twists.
I shut my eyes, trying not to spread tears of my own.
"I know you are, love. But you are going to come back from this, stronger than ever. You are going to become the biggest pain in the ass for poor deffenders like me who can't handle you"
A small smile scape her lips, there she is.
"I got to end up on a fucking wheelchair for you to admit that I'm better than you?" she says with a grin
"Don't push it"
We laid in silence for a few moments, neither of us capable of breaking the peace we build.
"Leah?"
"Mmh?"
"This is the moment to back down if you want, I won't feel any remose"
I gently turn her body over to look at her face.
"Well unfortnatley for you, I'm not going anywhere"
She leaned into me and press a gentle, long kiss on my lips.
We sat there in the quiet, the storm inside her beginning to calm. My arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer, her head resting on my shoulder. The sound of my steady heartbeat became her anchor, a reminder that she wasn't alone.

________________
Part of you wondered how long it would take Leah to take you home. There was not an ounce of blue in her body, taken only by the lifelong allegiance to North London, but the thought of you, a blue-born Chelsea girl, taking up the space under her sheets, was addictive.
Chelsea were the better team. Always was, and always will be. The Blues were better at everything. Their players were more advanced, their game plans had been executed to perfection. Arsenal were sloppy, poor, and unjust. It was embarrassing to the point where it stood out as entertaining to you. Seeing the almighty, reigning Arsenal fall on their knees and succumb to the superiority of your team was endearing, and you found yourself searching for the thrill increasingly more as the game progressed.
And the sight of the woman you hated oh so much angered by the defeated notion of the final whistle was your idea of an indescribable victory.
“What a shame, Williamson.” You snagged, clutching the fabric at your hips, looking down at her bent figure. “I thought you’d play well.”
“Ah, it is you.” She replied with just as much spite. “I thought I saw someone falling flat on their face. Makes sense now that I know it was you.”
You smirked, folding your arms over your chest. “Yeah, tried to show my humility… y’know, after scoring two goals tonight I thought it was only necessary.”
Leah scoffed, straightening her posture to display her authoritative height over you. “Both off deflections… sounds brilliant.”
“Player of the match worthy.” You bit back, stepping forward, pressing your chest against hers, suppressing the heat in your face. “Don't worry, I’ll make sure to credit your own goal in the interview.”
“Always have an excuse to talk about me. Can't stop, can you?”
“Is that what you think of me?”
“I don't think of you.” Leah shook her head, grabbing the hem of your shorts and fiddling with them persistently. “But if I did, I’d be sure to let you know.”
“If only I cared enough to hear it.” You tutted, not really caring about the openness of your situation. The stadium was still quite full, with both of your teammates lingering on the field. Fans were banking the barricade, no doubt looking for the two of you.
“I could tell you now if you’d like.”
“Aw, are you thinking of me now, Williamson?”
You felt Leah’s hand move to the inside of your thigh, pressing a tight pinch to gain any type of reaction from you. Biting your lip, you hoped that the post-game redness covered your blush.
“I bet you love the thought of people watching this, don't you?” She asked, glaring at you with such hatred that her words felt bittersweet. “Always so desperate for attention that you’d do it in front of everyone. Fucking needy.”
“You’re the one touching me.” In anger, you snapped. You didn't like the way Leah seemed so confident, so right in what she was saying. You wanted to be right. You were the one who won it for your team. You were better than her. She needed to realise that.
The only separation between the two of you was by your arms crossed over your chest. Leah was drawing furious patterns along your thigh, pressed up against you with her face above you, your height earning her to look down.
“Pull away then.” She uttered, now pulling you into a hug. You knew this would send fans into a spiral. Everybody knew about your rivalry with Leah. It was evident in the tackles, the cards, the teams, the games, the interactions. This was unclaimed territory. You had both teased each other after the games. There was always fire and spite, anger and resentment, but never contact. She told you to pull away, and by the tension that lingered, if you did she would let you have there was something else there. You felt it between your legs, running down your spine, making your core yearn.
It was in the way she kept her hand in between your thighs, deepening her fingers just below where you needed her most. She held you tight, closing any physical gap, forcing your arms to circle her waist as she wrapped her spare arm around the name on the back of your shoulders. You don't know why, but you held her back just as tight, breathing heavily when she started moving her fingers upwards.
“So tense.” She spat, rubbing your shoulder.
You shook her arm off, keeping the contact but still resistant. “I pulled it at training, of course it is.”
“Wasn't talking about your shoulder, baby.” She chuckled, her voice sending goosebumps down your neck. “In those thighs. Clenching them so hard and I'm hardly touching ‘em.”
That was when you knew your cheeks were burning.
There was a hint of humiliation in your tone, but your anger was still prevalent. “I didn't even notice your hand.”
“Yeah, alright.” Williamson grinned, pulling away. You felt the cold air nip your cheeks at the sudden loss of contact. Her fingers were no longer soothing the ache in between your legs. “Alright, baby, no, all that flushed cheeks from the big game, hm? Breathing so heavily cause you scored two goals, is that you’re so wet for me?”
“I’m not— you're so—”
Leah stepped away again, and you were too stupid to step forward in response. “God, is that what you're gonna sound like in the interview? You a mess, Baby, really. All flustered and red.”
“I'm not red.” You snapped. “And stop calling me baby. You're only four years older than me.”
Leah could see straight through you. “But you love that though.” She saw straight past your visible persona. “Why don't you show me how mature you are then? Can't call you baby if you prove that you're not.” She could tell by your flustered state, your wide eyes and your tainted disposition that you were struggling to handle the conversation.
“I don't need to prove anything to you. I just won the match. That's enough to prove that I'm better anyway.”
“But you needed help to get there, didn't you?” She retorted. “It’s not your name on the score sheet, it's mine. Look,” she pointed up to the screen, almost condescendingly, above the stands, where WILLIAMSON (OG) was printed boldly in white below the score. “All that hard work and I still get the mention.”
There was a fight for dominance, but the fight was so clearly won when you audibly gulped, unable to come up with just enough answer to compel yourself into a deeper state of anger. If anything, you were willing to resort to forbidding, but you were stubborn and bled blue.
“You’re just mad that you lost and we won. Chelsea was always better anyway, and you were just too slow… bet that's always the case.”
Leah’s jaw clicked, her lips settling into a thin line.
“In what case?” She muttered distinctly.
“You know what case.” You failed to notice the challenge, finding yourself in a superior position of confidence to realise the hole you were digging for yourself. “Slow and boring… on and off the pitch. You definitely get around, but you never seem to see one person twice. Maybe that's because they don't want to see you.”
Leah grabbed your wrist, yanking you off the field. It was a tradition that you would see the fans after every game, so you tugged back in retaliation.
She pivoted to face you, glaring at you with so much affliction that you yearned for more.
“You seem really interested in how I ‘get around’. Sounds like you wish it was you.”
No matter how hard your body was willing to succumb to her words, you stood firm by scoffing, rolling your eyes at her cockiness. “If only I was so desperate.”
“I’ll show you just how desperate I can get you.” The captain spat, holding your forearm now, easily leading you further down the tunnel where fans or players could no longer find you. “Didn't even properly touch you before and you were a needy mess.”
“You’re always so fucking sure of yourself, aren't you, Williamson?” You snapped back, hearing the clad of your boots fail to drown out your ungrateful tone. You did not care for what Leah was so keen to impress you with. Never had anyone told you that Leah did not impress. She was determined to make sure everyone was supplied with the right things for their needs. She valued giving pleasure over receiving. But if there was one thing she hated, it was brats like you.
You stood outside the Chelsea changing rooms, your kit still adorned on your figure.
“Go get your shit.” She snarled, letting go of your arm and jabbing you forward.
You scoffed, stopping dead in your tracks. “And what? You're gonna wait for me and drop me home? I have a license, Williamson, I'm not your fucking—”
You couldn't finish your rant, yelping when Leah cut you off, grabbing the collar of your shirt and mashing her lips against yours. One of her legs found its way between yours, her knee pushing against your core. A moan fell from your lips, and the woman wasted no time in slipping her tongue in, caging your figure between you and the wall.
She waited until you were kissing her back before grabbing your neck. She instantly moved down to litter harsh kisses down the nape of your neck, using her hands to move underneath your shirt, massaging your breasts. You were a mess beneath her, breathing heavily when the pressure on your clit intensified when her knee started rubbing patterns up and down.
“Swear at me again and see how it turns out for you.” She muttered in your ear, relishing the whines that fell from your lips as her knee continued its work. “If I tell you to grab your bag, that's what you do, yeah? You understand, Chelsea?”
The nickname left you shrinking, her words making your core glisten. You weren't completely sure whether the Arsenal girl was planning on taking you home. You didn't understand why you were all of a sudden pretty much moaning at the friction of her knee.
But you weren't fucking complaining.
“My teammates are in there.”
Leah let out a laugh. “You had no problem letting me touch you in a filled Stanford Bridge, Babygirl. I think it’d be healthy if your teammates realised who fucks their Stargirl after a home game.”
“You haven't fucked me, yet.” Your cheeks flushed a deep crimson, the thought of the England captain fucking you sending you into a spiral.
“Go get your bag and then I can use that pretty mouth for something other than moaning my last name… not that I mind when you do that.”
You wasted no time in doing as you were told, forever thankful that all of your teammates were either still interacting with fans or showering. You grabbed all of your stuff and quickly followed Leah over to the away changing rooms.
She let you walk through, since none of the girls were present, grabbing your belongings and chucking them inside her cubby. You felt her figure cage you back into the nearest wall, her hands how playing with the hem of your shirt, inching it further up your waist until it was completely disregarded, and you were left in your sports bra and shorts.
“Why so quiet?” Leah asked, kissing down the column of your neck, fondling your breasts. You sighed at the growing ache in your core, throwing your head back when Leah’s knee came back into contact with your clit.
“Some— someone’s going to walk in.”
Leah snorted. “Like you would mind.”
You huffed, grabbing the back of her neck and pushing her head further down your body. Leah’s knee stopped in return, leaving you writhing at the loss of pressure.
“Use your words or you can get off yourself.”
“Like you could get me off.” You retorted.
“I don't make brats cum.” She spat, moving back up to tower over you. “I edge them until they’re desperate and getting themself off my thigh. I treat them like brats, and maybe you need to work a little fucking harder for what you want.”
“You were just teasing me!”
“You're just desperate.”
“No.”
“No?”
“Leah.” There it was. Music to her ears.
“What?”
You whined, using your hips to drag yourself along her knee.
“What was that, Baby? Couldn't hear you under all those whines.”
“Leah, c’mon.” You stated potently, getting more impatient by the minute. “I'm not begging.”
The number six shrugged, looking down at you with wide, innocent eyes like she had no clue what you were going on about. Like she didn't even realise that you were humping her leg longing for some relief.
“Begging for what?” She moved her finger painstakingly down your chest, tracing your abs ever so slowly.
“For you.”
“For me?” She questioned, feigning confusion. Her hand dipped into the waistband of your shorts, circling your clit over your underwear. “Answer me, Darling. What do you want me to do? I'm touching you.”
“Touch me more.”
Leah tutted, moving her hand away. You groaned, throwing your head back when no pleasure was offered. “I'm afraid that's not how you ask. It might get you somewhere at Chelsea, but at Arsenal, we treat our Captains with respect. Even our star girls use their manners in the North end.”
“Touch me more, please.”
“Where, Chelsea?” Leah moved closer to you, peeling off her own shirt, removing your shorts, leaving you in your underwear and bra. “Be a good girl and tell me where.” She asked, her body lowering itself closer to the ground. You watched her kneel before you, hands gripping your waist, kneading your hips, lips biting your inner thigh.
“My clit, Lee, please. I need you to touch me there.”
“Such a good girl for your Captain, aren't you?” Leah ran her tongue along your folds, your underwear pooled at your feet. Your legs were swung over her shoulders, your hands buried in her hair, pulling taunt to her ponytail and the hairs that had fallen out during the game. Your moans were still muffled by the bite in your lips, the nerves of someone hearing your desperation for your enemy is still evident in the way you kept your mouth shut.
It was when Leah’s tongue latched onto your clit, sucking harshly on the swollen bud that your noises fell so adamantly from your reddened lips. You felt Leah’s cocky smile, her chuckles sending vibrations of pleasure through your body.
“Sound so pretty, Baby.”
“Leah— fuck, Lee. I'm gonna—”
“You’re going to hold it. Taste so good, you can wait.”
The coil in your stomach was forming long before Leah had even started, and the more Leah attacked your bud, the more your orgasm led to burst. Your moans had doubled in volume when one of her hands came up to play with your nipple, pinching it and playing with the nub every time her tongue licked up your folds. Her other hand worked its way through your pussy, spreading your slick all over your thighs, letting it run down your shaking legs and make your skin glisten with the glossy arousal.
“Want Stanford to hear you,” Leah spoke from below you. You whined at the thought. You were in a state of pure bliss that all cautionary thoughts of interruption were so far gone. All you could think about was Leah’s face between your legs.
“Feels so good, Lee. Want to cum so bad for you.”
“You can hold it, baby.”
“Mh, Lee, please.”
Leah moaned at your whines, nuzzling her nose up against your clit, pinching your nipple hard, reeling at the moan you let out in response. She saw the way your hole clenched around nothing, smirking at the way you rolled your hips across her face, working your pussy into her mouth so easily. She felt powerful knowing she had you at her disposal. You were stunning always, but there was something about you now that set Leah off. It made her angry knowing that you weren't hers to fuck at her discretion. It made her protective over you in ways she had never felt before. You were Chelsea’s protege — everyone worried when going up against you.
“Leah.”
It wasn't like something had changed, but Leah had realised that her hate was actually protection and adoration. She wanted you for herself. She wanted to steer you away from anyone that would hurt you. She hated Chelsea, she despised the West side more than anything, and it wasn't the sex that made her realise this.
“Leah.”
It was her name coming from your lips.
“Cum for me, Baby.”
That was all you needed to hear before you were barreling over the edge, your legs relying entirely on the strength of Leah’s upper body to keep you balanced. Your moans exemplified the stimulation of your orgasm riding out, and Leah’s endeavours to lick the result of it up as it poured into her mouth and onto your thighs.
The woman made sure you had somewhat caught your breath before she moved, having a moment to catch her own breath and comprehend what just happened. When she knew you were able to stand independently, she moved over to her cubby, grabbing the baby wipes she always had handy, moving back down to her knees to clean the mess across your legs as you covered your chest back with your jersey, and later your shorts.
Leah moved to do the same, except she watched as you fumbled with what to do. She gave you a pointed look as if to question your thinking, and you simply sighed and waddled over to her, slight humiliation at your wobbly legs painting your cheeks as you grabbed your bag.
“You all good, Baby?” She asked, her voice no longer authoritative and rather empathetic.
“Yeah, thanks.” You nodded. “Erm… sorry for being… rude… actually I'm not sorry but I am.”
“Yeah, same,” Leah replied a cheeky grin settled on her complexion. “I think we can settle for friendly rivalry from now on.”
“If that's what you call this, then sure.” You added, laughing along with what to make of the situation, feeling more out of place than ever in the middle of the Arsenal room. “I better go.”
“I’ll drive you home.”
“Lee, I've got my license—”
“It wasn't a question, Chelsea.”
You stood there defeated, knowing internally that you had no way home after Millie had driven you to the stadium and would have left by now anyway. Leah must’ve known that by the way she wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you into her chest.
“Besides, wouldn't want that Player of The Match Trophy getting forgotten now, would we?”

New Beginning
Leah Williamson x reader
~~~
The streets of London buzzed with life as you navigated through the chaos. Your phone had decided to malfunction just when you needed it most, leaving you hopelessly lost in a city that felt foreign despite the countless times you had dreamed of playing here. With each turn you grew more and more confused and lost.
You had recently transferred to Chelsea after a stellar career with Wolfsburg, where you had captained the team to multiple titles. Leaving your old club had been bittersweet, the camaraderie and success you had shared with your teammates were hard to let go of. Yet the thrill of a new challenge in a city that loved football was exciting. You were excited for the big games at Stamford Bridge against big teams like Arsenal
Leah had always been a formidable presence on the pitch. As the captain of the Lionesses and a standout defender, she was known for her strategic mind and adorable frown. Your history with her was complex, marked by battles on the field where you often found yourselves in heated exchanges. As a striker, you had tangled with her more times than you could count. The tension between your national teams was intense especially after your loss to her in the Euros final, but there was also a mutual respect.
As you turned a corner, a familiar figure caught your eye, Leah was strolling casually down the street. You felt surprise mixed with apprehension, your rivalry had always felt more like a sports one than a personal one. But here she was, looking effortlessly put together, her hair slightly tousled in the cool breeze.
“Lost, are we?” Leah’s voice broke through the noise, a teasing smirk on her face.
You hesitated. “Yeah, my phone decided to give up on me,” you admitted, a hint of annoyance creeping into your voice.
“Need a hand?” she offered, the warmth in her tone surprising you.
“Uh, sure,” you replied, skeptical about if she was actual going to help you or lead you in the wrong direction. “I’m trying to find my way to Stamford Bridge for my tour. ”
“Not far from here, actually. Follow me,” Leah said, turning on her heel. You fell into step beside her, the initial tension still hanging in the air.
As you walked, the awkwardness began to dissipate. Leah was surprisingly engaging, telling you things about London and pointing out places she likes. You found yourself laughing with her, completely forgetting your previous apprehension. The cheeky smile that played on her lips lingered in your mind long after you parted ways.
You exchanged numbers, before she said goodbye outside of the stadium. But as the days turned into weeks, you encountered Leah more often than you anticipated—at a charity photoshoot, in a café after training, even at a local grocery store. Each time, the energy between you shifted slightly, subtle flirting and teasing becoming more frequent.
The real turning point came during a match between Chelsea and Arsenal at the Arsenal. The atmosphere was amazing, fans of both teams had sold out the stadium. But as the match unfolded and Arsenal won 3-2, you felt incredibly frustrated that you couldn't score a second goal.
Just as you turned to leave the pitch, you heard Leah call your name, her voice cutting through the noise of the stadium. You spun around, catching her gaze. “Hey! You played amazing out there,” she said, her expression softer than you had seen before.
“Yeah, you played well too,” you conceded, trying to keep your tone light, masking the disappointment of the loss.
“Want to grab a drink?” she suggested, her signature frown on her face even though her team just won an important game.
You raised an eyebrow. “Are you asking me out?”
“Maybe” she replied, her frown turning into a slight smirk.
You hesitated for a heartbeat, your mind racing through all the possible implications. “Alright, I’m in,” you finally said, a rush of excitement coursing through you.
As you walked to a nearby bar, you shared stories and laughter, the conversation flowing easily as you discussed everything from football tactics to your favorite cities you have traveled to. There was a very calm and comfortable atmosphere between you, and you felt at ease.
You had an amazing night at the bar only having a drink each before switching to water, but still spending hours talking.
That night, as you parted ways, Leah leaned in, her breath warm against your ear. “We should do this again. This was even more fun than beating Chelsea?”
“Deal as long as you stop bringing up that we lost,” you replied, a smile creeping onto your face.
In the weeks that followed, you began to see Leah in a new light. You found yourself thinking about her more and more often, replaying moments from your night at the bar. Embarrassingly you also found yourself stalking her instagram and watching tiktok edits of her.
~~~
The streets of London were draped in a misty rain as you sat curled up on your couch, lost in a novel Lucy had recommended you. It had been a day off for you, having won a game the previous day against Roma. Suddenly, your phone buzzed, pulling you from your book.
It was a text from Leah: “Hey want to grab a drink? I could use the company.” You knew that she had just lost a game against Real Madrid at the Emirates, having gotten a notification that the score was 2-1.
A mix of excitement and nervousness fluttered in your stomach. You quickly typed back, “Of course. Where do you want to meet?”
Less than an hour later, you found yourself at a small, intimate bar in the heart of London. You remembered Leah saying this was the bar she came to Leah walked in, her shoulders slightly hunched against the rain, but she gave you a small, shy smile as her eyes met yours.
As she settled into the seat next to you, you quickly fell into easy conversation. Leah spoke candidly about the disappointment of Arsenal's recent loss in the Champions League, and her frustration with Jonas and their tactics not working. You listened wishing you could help her and make her feel better or take her mind off the loss.
After a drink and a water, you both decided to head out, the rain still misting in the wind. “Let me walk you home,” you offered, and Leah nodded appreciatively and secretly just wanting to spend as much time with you as possible.
“Thanks for walking with me,” Leah said, her voice quiet. Throughout the walk your hand kept accidentally brushing hers and you blushed as Leah didn't pull her hand away. As you approached the door of her flat, the mood shifted slightly, and Leah turned to you, her eyes searching yours. “Can I kiss you?” she asked, a hint of vulnerability in her voice.
“Yeah, I’d like that,” you replied, heart racing.
She leaned in, and your lips met in a gentle kiss. The world around you faded—the rain, the city, everything but the two of you in that moment. When you pulled away, Leah’s cheeks were flushed, and a grin spread across her face. Just then the rain started to pour down soaking both of you as you shrieked and Leah let out a genuine laugh.
“Want to come inside?” she asked trying to quickly find her key and get out of the rain.
You stepped into her flat, the warmth enveloping you like a comforting hug. “It’s cozy in here,” you remarked as you kicked off your shoes.
“Let me get us some tea,” Leah said, moving toward the kitchen. You went to the bathroom to freshen up and came back and sat at her small dining table.
After a few minutes, she returned with two steaming mugs, and sat across from you. “You know, I really enjoy spending time with you,” Leah said, her gaze sincere.
“Same here. This has probably been my favorite night in London so far,” you replied.
As the rain continued to pour outside, Leah glanced nervously at the couch. “I can take the couch if you want to stay the night,” she offered hesitantly.
You shook your head, your heart racing at the thought of sharing a bed. “I don’t mind sharing with you, I promise not to bite.”
“Are you sure?” she asked, wanting to make sure you were completely comfortable.
“Definitely,” you affirmed, a grin spreading across your face.
In her bedroom, you changed into a pair of her pajamas—soft and cozy, and they smelled like Leah. As you climbed into bed, Leah nestled beside you, her body warm and inviting.
The silence that followed was comfortable yet you could feel the nervous energy radiating from her. You glanced over, noticing the way she bit her lip, and decided to break the silence. “I really like you, Leah. I’d love to go on more dates and see where this goes.”
Her eyes lit up, and she let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “I’d like that too,” she replied, her voice soft and genuine.
You leaned in, capturing her lips again in a tender kiss, but this time she deepened it loving the feeling of your lips on hers.. When you finally pulled away, a content smile spread across your face.
The rain continued to fall outside, the sound soothing as you cuddled together under the covers. As you drifted off to sleep, you felt an overwhelming sense of peace, knowing that this was just the beginning of something beautiful. You realized that you would love nothing more than to fall asleep next to Leah every night.

Leah Williamson x reader ft Sam Kerr
A/n: Been battling this huge writes block for a month now. If you have any tips on out to get rid of it, send help. You need to use your imagination on this bby
Warning: Angry Sam
Summary: You and your ex-wife struggle co-parenting
-
You look at your watch.
18.53.
It’s now 1 long hour and 53 whole minutes since your ex wife, Sam, was supposed to come pick up your daughter for the weekend.
You don’t really know why you thought it would be different this time, it’s always been like this. From the moment you found her tangled up in her best-friends arms at your home, she’s been someone else. Someone you don’t recognise.
It’s none of your business anymore. You know that she parties and drinks, probably more than what’s healthy. And you know that it’s always a new girl. It’s always the same type of girl too, partygirls.
It’s the same never ending cycle. She gets a girlfriend, then she cheats on her with some random girl that she eventually ends up dating before the cycle repeats itself.
A part of you wants to take your daughter away from her. To never let her see her again. You’re her mom, you are supposed to protect her from harm. But, what do you do when the harm is her own ma?
“Still not heard from her?” Leah hums, her voice coming from behind your back.
You sigh at her while closing the blinds again, letting the last bit of hope disappear. The tears are now pressing in your eyes. You feel defeated. Leah immediately wraps you in her arms.
“Shh, it’s okay, we’ll sort this out” she reassures you. You nod while sniffing into her shirt, standing it with tears.
Your daughter coos from her little bouncer, kicking her feet with excitement. Her toothless grin spreading on her face. You can’t help it, but to turn your head to look at her. She brings a smile to your face. Her similarities to Sam aren’t there anymore. She’s growing into her own person. She has copied down Leah’s smile, just like babies does. Your hair, and your eyes. Not a single piece of Sam left in her. It eases your heart, it makes you feel less sad about your cheating ex-wife.
She cheated when you were just 1 week into your first attempt at getting pregnant. You didn’t leave at first, you did everything you could to salvage it. There wasn’t a single solution that you hadn’t tried. But she didn’t even try. The reality of the situation was that it fell through your hands like sand.
You don’t really understand why it happened. Why she chose her newfound best-friend over her wife and her daughter. It’s something you was forced come to terms with, but that you will never find in your heart to understand or forgive. Perhaps, it’s more that you have accepted the situation without being able to fully grasp the aspects of it.
Leah pulls away from the hug after giving you a kiss on the head. She moves towards your daughter, Ella, and scoops her up in her arms. Ella lets out a big yawn when she feels the comfort of Leah’s arms, settling in comfortably.
“I think that someone is up way beyond her bedtime, isn’t she?” She coos at the little baby in her arms. The sight of them makes your gaze soften, and your body relax. You can’t help it, but smile. They share something special, you just know it. Their bond is unique.
“Should we go upstairs to go night-night, huh Ellabear?” Leah asks as she leans down to kiss your daughter‘s forehead.
“Would you mind putting her down, baby? I think I need a minute..” you excuse to Leah, offering a sad smile.
You know that she’s more than happy to put her down. In fact, she’s been more than happy to put her down since even before she was born. Always excited for all the milestones you reached. Always there, always present.
Leah nods at you before taking Ella’s little hand to wave at you, you smile sadly back at them before they disappear up the staircase of your home.
You look at your watch again. 19.06. It’s been over two hours. That’s where you decide that she has missed her shot for the weekend. You move to the kitchen to find your backpack with your pencils. You reach for your notes before writing down the details around the yet again, missed agreement.
The divorce was messy. Sam wanted the baby. You refused. She pushed for visitation, and time with her daughter in court. You refused. But, Sam somehow ended up winning the case. Of course she did. She hired the best lawyers money could buy. It made your blood boil. Your lawyer recommended that you would write down every time she didn’t pick up Ella, and the details around missed visits.
Leah’s footsteps were soon to be heard coming down the staircase. Her hands eventually placed on your shoulders, lightly providing you with a gentle massage.
“How are you feeling, darling?” Leah’s voice hums. Her soft tone makes your body relax towards her frame.
“I’m just, hm, I think I feel disappointed for Ella. I know she won’t remember this, but the guilt is eating me alive.”
Leah wraps her arms around your waist before turning you to face her. Your eyes meets her, and you share a moment of silence while embracing each other.
“Ella is safe, she’s fed, she’s warm, she’s dry and she has a mommy and a Leah that loves her so much” Leah whispers in your ear.
The statement makes you feel safe, like you are the luckiest girl in the world to have Leah to lean on. To have someone step up to the responsibility when Sam failed. Leah didn’t have to, she had absolutely no obligations. But she still stayed.
“She has a mommy and a mama” you mumble into her arms, “you and me”.
Leah hums in response before your hands intertwine. Your heartbeat slows down, and your breathing softens. It feels safe. It’s feels warm. It’s like your mind unconsciously knows that you and Leah are building the foundation of a future marriage.
Her sincerity and warmth has you drawn to her. How she’s fair, how she never lets anyone get away with anything and how she is protective of what’s hers. You know that she will defend you to the end of the world, even if that means defending you when you are wrong. It’s one of her core values, to never embarrass you infront of others by arguing or correcting you.
Then, there is a knock on the door. The moment fades, and the memory is ruined by the continuous hammering on your door. Your heartbeat fastens again, and your breathing feels quicker and shallow.
You look over at Leah, and see that her fists are turning white. It’s only fair. You would feel that way too if you had something to outpower Sam. But you don’t. She’s taller, stronger, faster and more assertive than what you are.
The banging doesn’t stop, and soon enough you hear Ella’s scared cries in her bedroom through the baby-call hanging around Leah’s neck.
Leah looks at you and urges her head towards the door.
Normally you handle moments like this. But you are just so tired of it. Of Sam showing up drunk or hangover, demanding her daughter to be brought to her. It always scares you. Sometimes, you have nightmares about it. That someday, she’ll drive over drunk and get away with your baby. The kind of nightmares that only can be calmed by seeing that Ella is safe and having Leah holding you while softly stroking your back.
Leah looks at you again while nodding towards the door. The banging is still loud. This time, you can hear Sam’s voice through the door.
“For fucks same, give me my daughter. It’s my weekend! I know that you are awake”
You shake your head violently before tears swell in your eyes. You cannot find it in you to deal with Sam tonight.
“Go” Leah whispers while pointing upstairs. Your eyes widen.
“But what if she hurt-“
“I’m stronger and taller, I’m gonna be fine. Go calm Ella down, and I’ll be there soon, okay?” Leah urges moving towards the door.
You nod rapidly before going for a beeline up the stairs. You hear the door open up as you move upwards.
“Leah? Get me my kid will you” Sam commands.
Leah crosses her arms while looking firmly into her eyes.
“No, it’s past bedtime. She’s sleeping, or was before you scared her”.
“Nah, listen mate, this doesn’t involve you” Sam laughs before pushing towards the door.
Leah pushes Sam away from the entrance before grabbing the handle.
“I pay for the diapers, the clothes, the food. I put her to bed, I wake up with her at night and I wake up with her in the morning. I give her kisses and hugs, and I give her baths. What do you do?”
Sam looks at Leah with a gaze in shock.
“I, uh, I.. This is ridiculous, can I come and get her? It’ll be quick”
Leah grabs the door handle, and closes the door. But before she completely closes it, she looks Sam straight in her eyes.
“No, I suggest you leave before I call the police on trespassing.”

“hey love, you okay?” niamh asked knowing it was you that was wrapped around the back of her just by the smell of your perfume as she spoke with lauren.
resting your head on her shoulder as you exhaled, humming tiredly against her as you felt her hold your hands in hers as she carried on her conversation with lauren about the upcoming away match with the lionesses in a days time.
but you weren’t really paying attention to what was being said at all, more just wanting to be near to niamh.
you hadn’t had the best night sleep last night, you had put it down to the hot weather during the night making your room at st george’s park sticky and uncomfortable as there was no source of cool air.
so you spent the entire night tossing and turning, kicking the covers off you cause you were too hot but then grabbing from them moments later when you were too cold again.
but really you knew in the back of your mind it was because you hadn’t had niamh close to you. you finding it so much easier to fall asleep when she was around, being able to fall asleep on her as you listened to her heart beat as her hands played with your hair.
and after a long and intense training session on top of hardly no sleep by the time lunch rolled around you were definitely feeling tired.
“babe, love? y/n?” niamh called out as she tapped on your hands you being totally zoned out, not even noticing she was talking to you or the fact that she was no longer talking to lauren.
“hm?” you hummed finally hearing her, as she spun you around so that you were now stood in front of her, a worried look on your girlfriends face.
“are you sure your okay?” she asked again, you yawning before you got a chance to speak, nodding “m’ just tired”
“i thought you said you had a good night sleep?” niamh frowned as she wrapped her arm around your waist guiding you towards the room at st george’s park which was where the player could just sit and chill without it having to be in their rooms.
you shook your head, “no was too hot and i didn’t have my niamhy cuddles” you said tiredly, pouting as you sat down on one of the couches. your head immediately resting on your girlfriends chest.
“oh baby, why don’t you have a nap now and i’ll wake you just before our meeting later on?” niamh suggested as you slowly nodded your head unable to have the energy to do anything else.
your arms wrapping around your girlfriend like a koala as she played with your hair just like she always would, as your eyes began to feel heavier as they slowly fluttered closed and your breathing evened out.
“sleep well, pretty girl!” niamh whispered softly kissing the top of your head.

Accidental | Leah Williamson x Chelsea!Reader
Summary: Where you accidentally injure your girlfriend.
Woso masterlist | Words: 2.1k
-----
A knock on your front door pulls you out of your focus on getting ready, you head to the door and open it. “Hi Lia, come in!” She enters your home and greets you with a hug. “I’ll be right back.” Back in your bedroom, you grab your training kit, and start changing. From the bathroom your girlfriend calls out for you, “Baby, I forgot to bring my clothes, can you please grab them for me?” You walk to her overnight bag, and pull out the Arsenal kit she packed.
In the bathroom Leah is waiting for you in a towel. “Here you go, my love. Though, I do think it’s the wrong colour, because London will be blue tonight.” Playing for rivalry teams could have been hard on your relationship, but in your relationship it had never been a big deal, and you could joke about things like this without hurting each other’s feelings. “Ah, so you are colour blind then, because it will definitely be red.” She jokes back. You peck her lips, “I’ll head down and keep Lia company.”
The big rivalry between the teams, and between some of the players within the teams had also been the reason that the two of you kept your relationship private. Lia knew of course, as well as both your family’s, but not your other teammates or the public. You were both happy with that, and it had worked for you for the past year.
When Leah got downstairs, she greeted her best friend with a hug. “Sorry to keep you waiting, y/n was trying to get me to wear a Chelsea kit.” The smirk on Leah’s face gave her away instantly. “That would have been so much better, I should do that next time!” The three of you share a laugh, before you have to head out. “See you at the stadium my love.” You kiss your girlfriend goodbye. “Good luck out there today!” You wave to the both of them and get into your car, while Leah and Lia get into Lia’s car.
The London Derby was well underway, and Arsenal had taken a 2-1 lead. Both teams were fighting hard, which came with a number of free kicks for both teams. Every time you moved up the left flank, you were challenged by Katie McCabe, one of the Arsenal players you always had a tussle with on the field. Both of you were quite aggressive in your playing styles, so on the field it was like you were each other’s enemies. Things like this had also been taken into consideration when you and Leah had decided to keep your relationship private. Right now, your mind was fully focussed on getting past McCabe, but with a rough pull on your arm you were taken to the ground. You were frustrated with her move and wanted to get right into her face about it, but Guro anticipated you being angry, and was already standing between you and McCabe to hold you back. Katie got a yellow card, and Chelsea got a free kick from just outside of the penalty area.
Lauren got in position to take the free kick, while you positioned yourself at the near post with Leah defending you. When the referee blew the whistle Lauren showed with her hands which one of the set pieces you had practised was the one she was going to deliver. She sent the ball flying in your direction, you jumped up and tried to turn your body mid air. Before your head connected with the ball, you felt your elbow crash into something, or rather someone. Your focus was off of the goal and the ball flew far over, as your girlfriend crashed to the ground from your arm hitting her in the face. “Are you alright?” You hold out your hand to help her up. “Yeah fine.” After helping her to her feet, you both run away from the goal again, like the rest of the players, but when Leah grabs her face, your hand is instantly on her back. “Are you sure you are okay, Lee?” Without answering you she falls to her knees and hands. You wave over the medics instantly, before you’re able to crouch down with her you feel a pair of hands push you backwards. “Don’t you think you’ve done enough, y/l/n?” Your eyes meet Katie’s angry one’s looking back at you, you raise your hands and back up, right now all that mattered was Leah’s well-being and fighting with her teammate wouldn’t help. Still you watched from a distance as the medical team was assessing her with the referee standing next to them. The referee signalled to the Arsenal staff that a substitution needed to be made, next she made her way to you, and gave you a yellow card. Usually you would fight it since it was accidental, but it was your girlfriend that was walked off of the pitch by the medics, and all you could think about was the fact that you had injured her.
Your focus was completely off the game, so it was to no surprise to you that you were subbed off soon after Leah was. You jogged to the sidelines where Maika was ready to come on for you, and gave her a quick hug before stepping off yourself. After taking your coat and your bottle from the staff, and shaking hands with the coaching staff and your teammates, you headed into the tunnel instead of taking a seat on the bench.
Determined to find Leah, you made your way through the halls of Emirates Stadium. With your next turn you saw Lia sitting opposite a closed physio room, “How is she?” Lia shakes her head, “I don’t know, they’re still checking her out, I haven’t heard anything yet.” You start pacing the hallway instantly. “She walked here herself, I’m sure she is going to be okay.” It was like you didn’t even hear Lia. “Y/n, why don’t you sit down?” She said putting her hands on your shoulders. “No, I can’t.” Lia knew there was no changing your mind, so she let you be as she sat down herself again. After a couple more minutes of you pacing around the hallway another figure comes around the corner, checking on her teammate. You were so out of it that you hadn’t noticed the person coming closer until you were pushed against a wall. “Who gave you the right to be here?” It took you a moment to realise what was happening, Katie had you pushed against the wall by your shoulders. “Katie, get off of her.” Lia tried but to no avail, Katie was full of anger. “What are you doing here?” She spat in your face. You push her off you, “I am checking on Leah, what does it look like I’m doing?” A slight annoyance in your tone.
Lia tried to come between the two of you again, now that Katie wasn’t at your throat. “Katie, please calm down.” Katie shook her head. “She’s the reason Leah is in there, why are you on her side?” She didn’t wait for an answer from Lia and turned back to you. “Why don’t you go home and wait for an update on Leah when it gets posted online?” You finally had enough of Katie’s antics, and exploded. “Because she is my girlfriend, McCabe. I fucking injured my girlfriend, and you are being a piece of shit to me, which isn’t helping. So, please just shut up, I feel bad enough as it is.” Katie is taken back by your sudden outburst, and the information shared within. She looked over to Lia for confirmation, who simply nodded her way. “Well, shit.” The Irish woman said and took a step back and sat down in one of the chairs.
You slide down against the wall, the interaction with Katie having one positive result, no more pacing the hallway for you. The three of you sit in silence, waiting for an update on Leah. When the medics come out they talk to Lia, but of course you and Katie hear them as well. A concussion, you gave your girlfriend a concussion. “Can we see her?” Lia asks. “Yes, just keep the volume down and don’t turn on the light.” She talks with the medics about the next steps, but you don’t hear them anymore. The words “She has a concussion.” Play over and over again in your mind. You were the reason that she would be out of the game for a couple of matches, what if she would hate you over it?
Katie realised that you were struggling and moved your way. “I’m sorry for being an ass to you. Leah clearly means a lot to you, so I am sure that you do to her as well, and that means she is going to need you in there.” You let your eyes meet Katie’s, the anger you saw in them earlier, replaced by a softness you couldn’t place yet. She reached out her hand to help you up, “What do you say we go see her?” You let her help you up and follow Lia into the room.
Leah’s eyes open slightly when the door opens, but she closes them as soon as the slightest bit of light enters the room. Katie quickly closes the door to keep the light from the hallway out. “Who’s there?” Lia starts by saying her name, Katie follows, and you follow them, “and y/n.” You could see Leah tense upon hearing that you and Katie were both there. “Relax love, she knows.” Her shoulders untense, and you walk to her side and grab her hand. “I am so sorry for hurting you.” Leah squeezes your hand, “It’s not your fault, it was an accident.”
The three of you sit in the room with Leah until the medics let you know that she can leave. You decided that Leah was going to stay with you during her recovery. Since Leah wasn’t feeling well, you didn’t feel comfortable driving her on your own, so Lia offered to drive the both of you back to your place. Katie offered to pick up some stuff at Leah’s place, and drive Lia back to get her car. With that plan in place, you headed home. Leah leaned into your side in the backseat, her head heavy and painful.
After almost a week Leah was starting to feel better, light wasn’t bothering her as much anymore, and her headaches were less present. The first few days had been rough, her head was pounding, and she was very nauseous most of the day. Luckily her symptoms got less day by day. You didn’t have many visitors, because that would be too much for Leah, but Lia and Katie had come by to bring you supplies every now and then.
You drop your phone on the bed in frustration, not realising that Leah had woken up already. “Hey baby, what’s wrong?” Your chest felt thigh, you didn’t want her to worry about this as she had too much going on already. “Nothing love, it’s fine.” She knew you were trying to hide what was bothering you, so she grabbed your phone that was still laying open on the bed. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, the screen was filled with your Instagram notifications. Each one of them that she read worse than the other. People were sending hate your way for hurting Leah. “I am so sorry this is happening baby.” She pulled you closer to her and hugged you tight. “Why didn’t you say anything?” You shrug, “I didn’t want to bother you. You’ve had enough going on, I didn’t want to add to it.” She kisses your forehead. “You’ve been taking great care of me, but it’s okay if you need someone to take care of you too. I am always here for you, remember?” With a nod of your head you let her know that you know.
“I have an idea, but you need to tell me if you’re okay with it, because if you aren’t that’s okay too. I am just so angry at the people sending these kinds of messages your way.” Leah told you your plan, and you let her know that you were okay for it.
----- leahwilliamsonn just posted to her story
-----
Of course the comments didn’t stop with that, but they lessened and were overruled by the nice comments people were sending both your ways now. The reasoning might not have been ideal, but you were both happy that you didn’t have to hide your relationship from the world anymore.

You jumped up and down next to Kristie when the last seconds played out "Holy fuck!" you screamed, your Aussie accent clear to anybody near you.
"Go Sam!" Kristie called out for her girlfriend as you both clapped, the Australian looked your way, she had happy tears in her eyes and her smile was as big as you've ever seen.
You were quickly allowed to go down to the ground and both of you ran up the tunnel. You were running so quickly that you ran into someone.
"oh my god I am so sorry," A Canadian voice told you as you nodded "No you're fine I wasn't looking" you laughed with blushed cheeks.
You knew Jessie, she was on your sisters team but you weren't sure if she knew you, your socials were private and Sam only posted the family every now and then.
This is the first time you would be physically meeting the team.
"y/n you coming!" Kristie yelled out and you and Jessie looked at her "Go see her!" you yelled out and turned to Jessie "They'll probably be on top of each other and I'll be ignored if we go out there together" you laughed and Jessie looked you up and down "You know Sam?" she asked.
"Yeah she's my sister" you smiled and Jessie looked down embarrassed "I should've known that" she said "now I seem like a bad friend" you laughed.
How could I forget a face like hers, Jessie thought.
"Don't worry I'm on a spontaneous trip and decided to come to London" you shrugged and she smiled. You both turned your heads to more Chelsea players running behind you or calling out to Jessie.
"I should go"
"I should go"
You both spoke at the same time before laughing.
Jessie was very pretty you thought even when all hot and sweaty.
You were about to offer to walk together but your name was screamed so loudly.
It was Sam who saw you at the start of the tunnel. Your sister whom you hadn't seen in about a year "Sam!" you yelled back before running to her and giving her a big hug "Congratulations!" you yelled before she dropped you "We won the super league!" she yelled as if she finally had realized what happened "yes you did" you told her.
She looked like a child who had just gotten a puppy "Are you going to celebrate with us?" she asked and you nodded "fuck it, sure" you told her and she cheered again.
You were interrupted by an excited Millie Bright "Y/N KERR NO WAY!"
You left Sam's house in a rush she had offered for you to stay in her guest room, but you had taken a nap and completely forgot what time you had to be at the event to celebrate Chelsea's win so now here you were quickly gathering your purse and downing a shot of vodka for confidence.
You grabbed an Uber and were dropped off at the bar. All you saw was blue before you saw your sister and Kristie talking at the bar "You really took painting the town blue too seriously didn't you?" you joked before your sister laughed very drunkenly.
You and Kristie looked at each other with your brows shot up "Here maybe give y/n your next shot?" Kristie asked "Give her two she's not a lightweight" Sam said as she gave you two shots which you downed "You Australians" Kristie muttered under her breath before you went off to Millie who you did know.
"Millzy" you sang out as the girl gave you a hug "y/n/n" she laughed "how many shots have you had?" she asked "Three" you counted "how long have you been here?" she asked again, teasing you "like five minutes" you said and you both laughed "Everyones drinking until their livers die" Millie said before you both went off to see others.
Millie wasn't kidding almost every team mate you met were certainly not going to remember you the next day.
"Y/n I didn't know if you would be coming," Jessie said when we reached her "I suppose it could be fun," you said as Millie left to go save a tipsy Lauren James from posting a drunk video on Instagram.
"You wanna go get a drink?" you asked and she nodded and followed you along "how long are you in London for?" she asked "not that long I'm leaving in three days to go back home for my job" you explained as you reached the bar and asked for two drinks
"What's your job?" Jessie asked "I'm a writer but for sports, Sam may have got the muscles for sport but I got the brains" you joked and you both laughed.
When you grabbed the drinks from the bartender you tried to ignore the stare that Jessie had on your body. You wore a black dress that shaped your body.
When you turned to her with a smirk she knew she had been caught "Do you like what you see Jessie?" you said as she blushed "Sorry you just look hot- beautiful!" she cut herself off "I meant to say beautiful" she clarified as you nodded your head and took a sip out of your drink.
"You look pretty hot too" you flirted and Jessie blushed trying not to make eye contact with you.
It was clear from then on that you both found each other attractive and your sister Sam was too drunk to even notice whenever she saw the two of you being touchy.
Kristie did though.
"Are you coming home with us tonight?" she asked you as you went to the toilet, you looked back at Jessie who was buying you two more drinks, and shrugged "I'm not sure" you slurred, your alcohol now taking control over you.
You in fact did not go home with them.
Instead, you were in an apartment with Jessie's fingers entangled in your hair as you made out next to her apartment door, it didn't take long until your mouths were on each other.
Your glances to each other throughout the whole night had you craving for her and apparently you had the same effect on her
You had Jessie pinned to the wall as you both fought for domination of the kiss, Jessie tugged on your hair and you moaned letting her have access to explore your mouth.
She took her hands out of your hair and grabbed your waist and pushed you off of her and grabbed your hand as she lead you somewhere "bedroom" was all she said before you felt her mouth on you again.
When you woke up the next morning your head hurt like crazy but when you went to move you found yourself trapped under a beautiful half naked woman.
Jessie.
Your sisters teammate you realized
She was already awake and looking up at you. "Does your head hurt just as much as mine?" she asked groggily and you smirked "I don't know I don't remember you complaining" you said and Jessie rolled her eyes playfully "So you don't regret last night?" she asked "no" you replied "do you?"
"no" she smiled "but I am scared of your sister," she said before moving up closer to you "She doesn't have to know," you told her as you looked down at her lips "So you're only here for three more days?" she asked also looking at your lips "three more days that I can spend with you" you declared before she put her lips on yours again.
That was one year ago and now you were watching your sister play in the World cup since it was hosted in Australia. You had watched her play Ireland and now Canada. When the teams lined up you smiled at your sister who had the captains arm band strapped around her arm.
You let your eyes scan over to Canada's team which you promised yourself you wouldn't but the curiosity of seeing Jessie again took over you.
You remember those three days in London very well, whether you spent them at Sams or with Jessie. You didn't just sleep with Jessie for 70 hours straight though you wished you could. She took you out to see more of London, though your sister didn't know anything about this.
Then you got the job offer to write about women's football in England which you almost agreed to on the spot, you fell in love with London when you went and when you told your sister she couldn't have been more happier to have family with her in London.
You saw Jessie running drills with her team before the game started and you looked at her with a smile, she was searching the crowd, was she looking for you? You didn't know.
You jumped up and down with your family as Australia scored another goal unfortunately kicking Canada out of the race. Your cheers quickly stopped as you saw Jessie on the field she played amazing, it just wasn't in her teams favor.
You excused yourself and made your way into the tunnels, showing security your ID and pass to go see the players, you usually would only use it to see Sam but you wanted to see if Jessie was okay, you wanted her to know that someone wasn't disappointed at her.
You caught her after an interview, she had tears in her eyes and she was wiping her face. You stepped towards her "Hey" you softly muttered and she turned to you "oh" she said in shock "hey I should've expected to see you here" she said with a small smile "well it was nice to see my country win but you were definitely putting on the pressure" you told her with a smile
"Yeah but the score-" "Score doesn't mean anything" you finished her sentence for her "You played amazing honestly, I've been researching more on soccer and watching some games and you're really good Jess"
The nickname rolled off your tongue "Well it was nice to see you again" Jessie smiled, still wiping off tears from her face but now they were from your compliment "You should probably go celebrate with Sam" she said
"I have all the time in the world to celebrate with Sam, do you want me to wait out the back?" you asked "You need someone to help you know how good you were out there," you told her with a soft smirk which she blushed at "okay" she said and you nodded "see you out there".
When she walked out she still looked defeated but you heald out a pack of Tim Tams that you had bought for the game but didn't eat.
"A piece offering?" she laughed to herself as she grabbed it off you "I know technically being Australian makes me the enemy but I am also the best at making people feel better about themselves.
When she drove you back to her hotel room you both sat at her mini bar kitchen and ate tim tams. "Did you ever tell Sam?" you asked and she crossed her head "I haven't been able to look her straight in the eye without looking like I'm hiding something" she smiled "have you?" she asked "Well you're alive and standing so no"
You didn't need any drinks this time for you two to end up in Jessie's bed, you two were just lying in it with your hands playing with Jessie's strands of hair.
Jessie looked up to you "thankyou" she told you and you smiled at her "Well I'll be seeing you more often so I thought I should be more nice to you" you smiled and she turned her body to yours "what do you mean?" she asked "I'm moving to London for work, writing for the wsl" you smiled "really?"
"yeah do you want me to write well about you even if you play shit" you joked and she moved closer to you "what would I need to do for you to write well about me?" she asked as she stroked your cheek.
"I can be persuaded"
Her lips were on yours shortly after that but it was softer Jessie had your hands in hers as you straddled her lap.
Jessie pulled away "wait" "yeah" you breathed out as your faces were still so close "does this mean I can take you out on a date in London?"
You sat up "You want to take me on a date?" you asked and she nodded "What about Sam?" you asked and Jessie smirked
"Like you said she doesn't have to know"
You reattached your lips to hers and once again in the morning, you woke up in a bed that wasn't yours.
Now a couple months later you and Jessie have kept in contact, you gave her your number after the World Cup. You started living at Sam's until you found a place of your own.
You were grabbing the keys to your work car when Sam came out of her room "where are you going?" she asked
a date with your teammate
no, well specifically your tenth date with her teammate.
"out with a friend I met last time I was here," you said "Well you look like you dressed for a date" she pointed out "Can't a girl have some attention" you joked and Sam rolled her eyes "Not if I don't have approval first" Sam defended and you rolled your eyes
"Last three girlfriends I've had you scared them off"
"That was the test and they didn't pass it"
It grew harder and harder for you and Jessie to tell Sam you were 'dating' because every time you were close to telling her she would grow overprotective and you could imagine Jessie's head on a chopping board with your sister holding a knife ready to chop down.
"Well it's not a date" you told your sister who nodded "Well I'm going out for a team bonding tonight so please don't bring anyone home, you are not allowed to have sex in this house"
"I am four years younger than you I am twenty six" you said and she grabbed her keys "don't care" she sang out as she left the house.
Jessie told you about how she had to lie about getting sick with a 'stomach bug' this morning so she could miss out on team bonding.
So instead you picked her up at her house and drove to a nice restaurant "I love that dress on you" Jessie complimented as she held out a seat for you "and I love when you compliment me" you smiled as she sat down "such a fancy place" you said as you looked around "yeah I uhm thought we could do something a bit formal" she said with a blush "I love it".
It wasn't until the date was over and you and Jessie were walking along the block near the restaurant that you could feel Jessie slow down. You laughed thinking she had tripped but when you turned around she was still "Jess-" "be my girlfriend?"
"what?" you asked at her suddenness "be my girlfriend you practically already are," she said and you smiled and kissed her "of course I'll be your girlfriend," you told her and you kissed her again.
On the way to drop Jessie off you had both decided mentally that you were going to be staying over by the way Jessi gripped your thigh whilst you drove.
You had never kissed Jessie so hard "I do love this dress but I would love it better off" Jessie teased and you rolled your eyes "so cheesy" but you did as she said loving the way Jessie immediately attacked your boobs with her mouth.
You both were cuddling on the bed "That was the best sex I've ever had" you said and Jessie smiled with her head in the crook of your neck "Imagine if we ever get engaged" she laughed "I won't be able to walk for a week" you said "I was that good huh?" Jessie asked with a smirk "Don't flatter yourself" and the doorbell went
"must be food I'll get it"
"I love post sex food" your now girlfriend said as she walked into the bathroom. You picked up one of Jessie's oversized training tops and you put your underwear back on.
You did have a 'I just had sex' look on but it was just the post guy so you didn't really care.
When the knocking continued a voice called out
"Jessie you couldn't eat this food so I'm bringing the food to you-"
When you opened the door you did not expect to see your sister on the other side, both your eyes widened and you saw Sam's eyes travel to your shirt, lack of pants and your hair which looked like a birds nest.
"Sam-"

Katie had always liked to go out on a morning walk. Ever since she broke up with her girlfriend of seven years just over a year ago, Katie had made a good habit of getting up before 8am to go for a walk.
It used to help her think things through and try and get herself together before training. Now it just relaxes her, and let her see her.
The girl in question was someone who Katie had been watching for nearly four months now. Every weekday. Creepy, she was aware. But the gorgeous girl was just so intimidating.
She walked through London Colney with a coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other and constantly listening to music on her rose gold beats.
Her outfits were fantastic and every time Katie watched her pass by, she would always send a kind smile from her perfectly painted lips.
Her skin was flawless, her hair like something form a L'Oreal commercial and her eyes were the most invasive and hauntingly beautiful things Katie had ever seen.
In conclusion, Katie was down bad. She loved the way her head bobbed to her music or the way the stranger would move her cigarette away from Katie, so she couldn't smell it as much.
And as Katie woke up today, Thursday, tomorrow would be the day before the Chelsea vs Arsenal match, she made herself a promise that she was going to speak to this girl today.
Katie made her way out of her apartment, happily humming along to the music as she walked her head down as she tried to think about where she could speak to the girl.
Just as Katie looked up there was a force into her chest and a squeak. There is a crash on the floor as iced coffee splashes onto the pavement.
Katie looks down and gulps as she realises the girl who has been occupying her thoughts all morning stood pressed against her chest, her coffee now scattered over the street.
"I'm so sorry lass, I wasn't lookin'." Katie apologises. The girl sends her a bright smile, shaking her head as she bends down and picks up the coffee cup and bins it.
"Please, it was my fault, in my own head this morning it seems." The girl denies, pulling her beats down to rest around her head, the faint sound of Hozier coming from them.
"What'cha in your own head about?" Katie questions kindly, the girl smiles.
"How to get you to come and speak to me." She giggles, her London accent pushing through her words.
Katie can't help the chuckle which escapes her lips, her secret admiring from afar clearly having been noticed by the beauty stood in front of her.
"Ahh, ya got me." Katie smiles. "Katie." She introduces, holding her hand out.
"I'm aware." The girl smiles, but shakes her hand anyway. "y/n." She adds.
"Beautiful name for a stunnin' girl." Katie beams and y/n smiles again, laughing lightly. She leans over and stubs out the cigarette, smiling softly.
"Apologies for the smoke, I'm sure you footballers try and steer clear." y/n hums.
"They kill ya, y'know?" Katie asks and y/n raises a brow.
"Really?" She gasps mockingly. "Thanks for the warning, I'll stop right away." She nods and Katie chuckles at the sarcasm.
"Ok ok, I was just sayin'." Katie surrenders and y/n laughs again, suddenly her phone vibrates, the Harry Potter theme tune echoing as she smiles apologetically at Katie and answers it.
"Alrigh' alrigh', I'm coming you prick!" She says lightly into the phone. She laughs at whatever is said. "I'll see you in a second babe." She hums.
Katie's heart sinks at the use of the pet-name, her once racing heart now slowing as the beautiful girl laughs again and hangs up the phone, Katie clear her throat.
"Boyfriend?" She asks, trying to not so subtly see if the girl was taken.
"Best friend." y/n hums at her and Katie's heart lifts slightly. "There's no one if that is what you're trying to figure out." y/n adds. "Besides, it wouldn't be a boyfriend." She adds.
At that confirmation Katie's heart leaps, she felt as if she had just scored against Chelsea already and it took everything in her not to whisper a small 'yes'.
"I have to go Katie love." y/n hums, the nickname making Katie almost shiver.
"Can I get your number?" Katie asks.
"Meet me here tomorrow, 8:15, iced caramel latte." y/n winks, before she sidesteps the woman and walks off, Katie turns but y/n just looks back and sends a wink before disappearing into a crowd of people.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
The next morning, Katie was stood at 8:10 with an iced caramel latte which she thought was far too cold for the already crisp morning, her head was up and waiting for the shorter girl who had occupied her thoughts for months.
"I'm impressed." y/n hummed, as she slid next to Katie, the woman's head snapping to her and a smile over-taking her features.
"M'lady." Katie grinned, handing her the drink.
y/n laughed, the sound as sweet as angels singing to Katie and the Irishwoman made a promise to herself to keep y/n laughing as long as she could, because the sound warmed her blood.
"Thank you." y/n smiled, her beats were resting around her neck once more and she began to walk and Katie followed quickly after, almost jolting into action.
"So, where are we going?" Katie asks.
"You are walking me to work, then I am assuming you have training before the big game tomorrow." y/n hums and Katie looks down at her.
"Okay." Katie nods. "You clearly know football." Katie adds and y/n chuckles as she moves through the crowd of people who were leaving from a tube station.
"You could say that, yeah." y/n nods as she checks the road, her spare hand, free of a cigarette today Katie noted, reaching down for Katie's.
y/n gripped it lightly and pulled her across the quiet road before dropping her hand once they got back onto the pavement. Katie found herself clenching and unclenching a fist to try and rid herself of the sparks which were left in y/n's wake.
The two made small talk for the next ten minutes, learning about each other's favourite colours and music tastes, laughs were shared more often that not.
However, the laughs shared were only due to the fact Katie was trying her best to be as funny as possible, desperate to hear the laugh from the stunning girl stood beside her.
"So, what do you do?" Katie asks, looking down at the girl sipping her coffee.
"I'm a barista and bartender." y/n explains as they near a coffee shop which Katie walked past everyday.
It was on the corner of her street, a relatively big venue which she remembered turned into a bar once evening settled over London. She'd never been in, having liked to stick to her favourite places.
If y/n worked here, she was kicking herself for being so bad at trying something new.
There were cute pastel wooden tables and chairs out the front, only a few since not many people sat outside during the winter. Inside were booths and comfy chairs.
Cushions, blankets and a long bar decorated the coffee shop, a window of pastries and cakes sat out as well. A girl was bustling around, mouthing along to the music as she waved at y/n through the window.
y/n waved back and turned to Katie, who she noticed was looking at the six cats lying lazily inside the coffee shop and she chuckled as Katie then looked at her.
"We are not supposed to be a cat cafe, but they were all rescues and people love them so they stay." y/n explains.
She then smiles as Katie looks at her watch, sighing at the fact that she would have to get back to her place, which luckily wasn't far and head over for their long day of training.
"Thanks for walking me." y/n adds, she leans up and pecks Katie's cheek, leaving the woman slightly stunned for a moment. "See you soon!" y/n calls.
"Wait, what does that mean?" Katie asks, but y/n just ignores her as her friend lets her in and they begin to set up the open for nine am. Katie sighs, but know she is going to be late if she doesn't go.
So, with one last fleeting look at the gorgeous girl who was laughing at something, Katie touched her cheek and set off home.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
The next day, Katie's head was far to focused to let many thoughts of y/n slip through, a few had, she wasn't afraid to admit, in fact the idea of the smiling girl was keeping her rather calm.
As they stepped out onto the pitch, Katie could hardly hear her heartbeat over the screams of the Arsenal fans, but she rolled her shoulders back and waited.
As soon as the whistle went for kick off Katie's blood pumped and the fire in her heart roared as she ran, she hardly payed attention to the people shouting her name.
The clock ban to tick, minutes running from them as Katie crossed the ball into the box, Beth Mead finding it and burying it in the back of the net.
Shouts of excitement echoed, Katie launching at Beth and shouting in happiness as they were surrounded. The group runs back to reset and Katie looks over to the crowd.
People jumped and cheered for her, for Beth, for them, a suddenly determination pushed through her to play the game at the same level or better.
As the half time whistle blew, the group couldn't believe they were three - one up against Chelsea. Katie was walking toward the tunnel when she saw her.
Leah was next to her the two talking animatedly about something, she was in a black puffer coat zipped and had an Arsenal beanie on her head.
Leah saw Katie watching and waved at her sending her a proud nod, then y/n turned, a wink sent Katie's way before she turned back to Leah and the continued talking.
As Katie got into the changing room, her heart continued to race, the cheeky eyes of y/n pushing through her body, the name ringing in her head.
Of course. Leah and Alessia often talked about their joint friend, the one who Leah had said she owed her happiness too, the girl having met her when Leah was crying drunk in the bar about her ACL.
Leah who was alone, was helped by y/n who let the blonde stay the night, cooked her breakfast in the morning and then answered Alessia's worried phone call.
Once Alessia finally came to Arsenal Leah had happily introduced to the girl she had described her angel, and while the team had never met her, she was often talked about.
Of course the girl Katie was crushing on was her, of course it bloody was. And as Katie stepped outside for the second half, suddenly her determination grew.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
y/n felt awful, she truly did, but just after Alessia had scored her penalty her best friend had called and asked her into work explaining they had a newbie call in sick.
Leah promised her it was okay and that she would see the golden retriever of a human later. y/n had left Leah with a kind hug and ran off, and as she left the stands, she saw Katie's shoulders deflate.
However, y/n couldn't think about that, she changed into a red jumpsuit and quickly switched into work mode, her make-up done in twenty minutes and her hair scraped back into a long ponytail.
Several hours passed, y/n doing her job when her best friend and boss, Jamie came over, the woman placing her hand on y/n's shoulders.
"Haley's here now y/n/n, you can go and get ready for your fist set of the night." Jamie said as y/n served another drink, Haley nodding at y/n kindly as she slid onto the bar.
"Sure Mimi, Leah here yet?" y/n asked and Jamie nodded, pointing over to the VIP section where the group stood.
"You okay with serving them when you're not playing?" Jamie asked and y/n nodded as she moved around Adam, another server of the night.
"Yeah course." y/n grinned, the VIP section had it's own bar so the VIP's didn't need to wait in line.
y/n checked her face in the mirror, noticing Katie stood slightly out of eyeline in her jeans and tight black tank top, her arms almost making y/n choke.
y/n then slid over to the section, her arms wrapping around the familiar blonde who had played so well in the match. Recognising the feeling Alessia beamed.
"Angel!" Leah cheered noticing her as Alessia turned and bear-hugged the girl.
"Hi my loves." y/n hummed. "You were so good today, I am so sorry I had to leave early." y/n praised to Alessia who smiled brightly.
"It's okay, Lee explained." She promised her friend who smiled before sliding under the bar.
"Right ladies, this is the angel y/n we go on about." Leah said, as she quickly went around the group that had come out.
"Kim, Kyra, Cloe, Caitlin, Katie." Alessia began.
"Lotta hard k's." y/n joked and Leah chuckled.
"Lotte, Manu, Jen, Steph, Laura, Laia, Amanda, Frida, Lia, Victoria, Lina, Stina." Leah continued.
"And you obviously know Beth and Viv." Alessia finished, the couple the only two to have met y/n in the recent months.
"Yes, hi all, I'm y/n, I am your bartender tonight so yay me, and I know all of your names anyway." y/n added. "Also, great game today." She adds.
A chorus of thank yous echo before y/n sighs and looks out at the sea of 21 players and rubbed her hands together before opening the till and getting ready to start the tab.
"What we drinking?" She asks. After about twenty minutes, each player had a drink, other than Katie who waited patiently.
Leah had noticed the way Katie had lingered around the bar, the way her eyes followed y/n's every move as she made the drinks, somewhere in the back of her mind she realised what a good couple the two could make.
"Let me guess? A Guinness?" y/n asked, rolling her eyes as Katie grinned. "Of course you have the longest pouring drink last." She adds.
Usually, if people ordered a Guinness last on their orders y/n would rage, because it meant she would have to wait for it to settle before moving on, but as she looked at Katie, she didn't care.
"Why didn't ya mention you knew Lee and Less, oh and Beth and Viv?" Katie asks and y/n shrugs.
"You never asked." She tells Katie as she stops the Guinness letting the liquor settle.
"Fair enough." Katie chuckled, y/n smiled softly her head turning briefly to check the clock.
"You played well today." y/n said quietly. "I didn't realise you could be so violent." She adds and Katie smirks.
"I'm as scary as they come me." Katie grins and y/n laughs which widens Katie's grin.
"Well, you're alright. I'll give you that." y/n chuckles, Katie leans forward on the bar, her arms tensing.
y/n's gaze moves down to the tanned skin which sat there and she gulped before looking away and finishing the Guinness. Katie notices her gaze and smirks.
"Just alrigh'?" She asks teasingly but y/n just places the Guinness on the bar.
"Order up." She smiles before moving to where Jamie stood, Katie smirked at the girl's flustered cheeks and turned to lean on the bar, her eyes catching Leah's who sent her a knowing wink and a smile.
She'd been given permission, that was what Leah had given her there, she had said with her eyes 'I see it, I'm okay with it.' and Katie relaxed with that.
"Yes!" Alessia suddenly said, and the group turned to see y/n suddenly on the stage with the DJ and a live band.
"Right, yes yes, hello." y/n said into the mic, the crowd suddenly screaming and Katie furrowed her brows. "Okay, it's a Saturday night, most here are gooners, I know." y/n continued.
The crowd got louder at that and y/n laughed, the cheers were directed toward the VIP section, but Katie was impressed at the way no one had tried to sneak to them.
She loved the fans, she did, but they could be crazy, so the fact none of them had tried to approach just showed how good this bar really was she supposed.
"Not all of us." The guitarist suddenly chimed in, his long hair pushing out of his face as he nodded his head at y/n who laughed.
"Come on you irons!" She cheered, several loud cheers ringing out.
"She's a Hammers fan?" Jen asked Leah in shock and Leah laughed, nodding her head.
"Hammer-head yeah." Leah grinned and the Arsenal group shared a laugh.
"Anyway, let's fucking party." y/n said before the song kicked in. Katie almost jumped at the trumpets playing from the recording and as the drum began people danced.
"Well there is something going down! Like the storm in the sky. Oh." y/n sang, her voice powerful.
Katie's eyes widened at her live voice, so good, so powerful, so free and as her teammates began to dance to the song Katie couldn't help but watch y/n as she performed into the chorus.
"Mama knows best when, times get a hard! And papa always has a joke, to make me laugh. See mama knows best when, I feel down, to pick me up and always keep my feet on solid ground." y/n continued.
Katie didn't think she could have fallen any harder, but the second y/n started singing, she realised how wrong she was.
°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。
After an hour of Katie's teammates dancing around her while she stared in shock at y/n who was performing as if she was at Wembley. The singer thanked the crowd and said she would be back in an hour.
She then disappeared into the sea of people and despite trying, Katie could no longer see her. She sighed and shook her head when Leah slid next to her.
"So, you seem to know y/n somewhat?" Leah asks Katie, a relaxed tone in her voice.
"It's all a bit confusin' really." Katie admitted. "We pass each other on our morning walks and then the other day we just crashed into each other, talked and then I walked her to work yesterday." Katie explains.
"Right, and how long have you been seeing her on your walks?" Leah asks, raising a brow.
"4 months, and I know it sounds bad, and I had no idea who she was before it clicked at the game, but I've continued those walks, just to see her." Katie winces.
"She's like that. Totally addictive." Leah nods and Katie pauses.
"Have you and her - uh..." Katie begins, Leah bursts into laughter, shaking her head.
"No, god no!" Leah denies. "She's just my friend, my best friend really, but she just has this way about her, I can't explain it." Leah hums.
"She fuckin' stunnin' as well." Katie sighs and Leah chuckles.
"I think you'd be good together." Leah adds to Katie who smiles at her in thanks. "She's never really been one for relationships, her last one ended well, but I think she just got scared of it again." Leah adds.
"I didn't think she'd be scared of a thing." Katie hummed and Leah chuckles.
"Wait til you see her around a spider." She warns and Katie laughs as she looks around for her.
"Looking for someone?" A call asks, the two turning around to see y/n pouring Caitlin another drink, the footballer cheering when it's passed to her.
"Angel, as fantastic as always." Leah grins and y/n laughs sending a wink her way.
"Had to impress tonight, we had some VIP's in the house." y/n grins and Leah chuckles.
"Katie's got something to ask you." Leah nods, before walking away leaving Katie silently panicking as she tries to play it off cool.
"Do you?" y/n asks Katie.
"Date me!" Katie says suddenly, before wincing and sighing as she tries not to hit herself in the face. "I mean, go on a date with me?" Katie asks. "Please?" She adds.
"I'd love to." y/n smiles and Katie grins.
"Really?" She asks.
"Of course Katie." y/n smiles. "Now, give me your phone while I pour you another drink." She orders and Katie does so, watching as y/n taps her number in, stopping the Guinness pouring without looking up so she can let it settle.
"I didn't know you could sing either." Katie adds before y/n sends her a look. "Right, didn't ask." Katie nods again.
"Come on." y/n hums as Jamie takes her place, handing her a coat.
"Where are we goin'?" Katie asks, but she takes y/n's outstretched hand never-the-less and lets her pull her out the back and to a small covered area with two heat lamps and a table.
"Smoking shed." y/n says obviously as she lights a cigarette up and turns the heat lamps on.
"You sing and you smoke." Katie says. "Isn't that like oxymoronic?" She asks and y/n shrugs.
Katie moves forward to take the cigarette from the girl but hisses when a harsh slap is placed on the back of her hand.
"Bleedin' woman!" Katie curses and y/n grins happily as she inhales once more on the cigarette. "What'cha do that for?" Katie adds.
"You tried to take my cigarette." y/n says simply, and Katie huffs before darting forward again, trying to reach for the stick, y/n shrieks and skirts around the table, trying to run away.
Katie however is already quicker than her and isn't wearing heels like she is and wraps her arms tightly around y/n so she can grip the cigarette carefully and throw it onto the floor.
"Katie!" y/n whines out in annoyance, turning around to face the footballer who kept a tight grip on her waist. "I wanted that." She huffs.
"I want you." Katie says without thinking. y/n looks at her a small smile on her face before she lets out a laugh, Katie smiling sheepishly as y/n grips her shoulders as she giggles.
"Somehow, that was both smooth and terrible." y/n giggles and Katie chuckles with her.
"I'm not usually this shit at flirtin'." She promises and y/n chuckles.
"Well, let's see if your better at kissing." She mutters before her lips are on Katie's.
The Irishwoman was definitely better at kissing than she was flirting, her lips softly pressing against y/n's before she pushed her hips forward, causing y/n to stumble back into the table.
At the move, y/n gasped, her mouth opening just enough for Katie to dive her tongue in and her hands came up to keep y/n's head in place. Suddenly she was everywhere in her mouth.
It was as if she was mapping y/n's mouth with her own, every inch she could reach being touched by her tongue which finally came to clash into y/n's with the passion of four months of obsession.
Katie didn't slow down as she slid her hands down, lifting y/n onto the table so she could work at a better angle. Her hands pawing at her waist, thighs and hips.
The two parted briefly before diving back in, y/n's hands holding tightly onto Katie's shoulders, her grip tightening further when Katie's lips wondered down her neck, burning the skin she touched.
Katie bit down against y/n's shoulder as she kissed back up, y/n letting out a soft whimper at the action which was better than Katie could have dreamed of.
"If I don't stop now, I'll fuck you into this table." Katie whispered breathlessly against y/n's ear and she sighed, the two pulling away breathless and aroused.
"Definitely better at kissing." y/n breathed, eyes wide and pupils dilated. Katie laughed at that, pressing another chaste kiss to her lips before sighing.
"Come on, lets get inside." She hums and y/n nods. "So, I'll pick you up tomorrow at six?" She asks as they move to the door.
"Only if you stay the night." y/n counters back and Katie smirks.
"I intend on it." She promises lowly and y/n grins as they re-join the bar.
y/n's eyes find Leah's and the blonde smirks at her before smiling and y/n smiles back as she slides back under the bar and finishes off Katie's Guinness which had been more than settled, the woman waiting for it with a smirk.
"Order up!"

JUST A SPARK... PROLOGUE - leah williamson
it's never quite as it seems
warnings: death, grief, this is pretty angst tbh
master list / next chapter
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/47606cb886ee15b4a340ab5faadc0692/a88025b14955531e-76/s540x810/263b05216ae5f408d2d87a986d9f5dcb6821b521.jpg)
It rained again. Ever since you had moved to England, the weather seemed to taunt you for leaving the country you actually considered to be your home. Your nonna, your mamma, and even your Dad stayed behind in Italy, and just like that, every dream of what England should’ve been was crushed between your tight fists. It rained. Every single day that you had lived in England, it rained. Today was the tiniest bit better than what yesterday’s clouds had provided. Instead of furious down-pouring that almost silenced your every thought and made the pitches impossible to train on, the water was splashing from the sky rhythmically, staining your windows as it peacefully dropped.
You were sitting on your couch, a mug of tea in your hand that you found oddly comically typically English, watching as the weather let you down once again. You missed Italy then, more than you usually did. Dreams of your summers spent in Tuscany, sitting on the terrace with your friends, sipping on a pearly white wine as the birds breezed past you cascaded in your mind as you stared out of the large, rain-stained window of your living room. Reaching for your phone, you huffed, realizing the closest you could come to being back home was a phone call. Although it wouldn’t be enough, it would certainly have to do.
The first sign that something was wrong was the way the ringing of your phone wouldn’t stop for far too long. There was very little time difference from England to Italy, and if it was an hour earlier, you would have believed your parents would’ve laid down for their daily nap, but it was almost six in the evening and there was no way they weren’t awake right now. When the call was finally picked up, the second sign hit you like a truck. Instead of your mamma’s sweet voice, you could hear a total mess unfolding, a sob ringing through the line, a dish being thrown to the floor.
“Mamma? Mamma, cosa non va?” (What’s wrong?), you asked, panic striking your tone as you sat up, gently disposing the mug of tea to the very edge 0f your couch table.
“Mamma?”, you repeated as any clue of what was going on was still withheld from you.
“Morto. É morto” (Dead. He’s dead), your mother cried, and at once, the oddly comically typically empty English mug fell to the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces.
The flight back to Italy was painfully silent. You didn’t allow yourself to listen to music, too scared to listen to anything just in case you forgot your father’s voice. Your train of thoughts was absolute nonsense, to put it into harsher words, but it didn’t matter to you.
After speaking to both Emma Hayes and other officials of the club, most of whom you had never met, you had voiced the will of your mother to be buried in Italy rather than in London, where he had been born, and had taken the next flight out to your home country, ignoring the protests of men who had never truly known your father, claiming they wanted to come with you. You knew, however, that your father wished for more. The legacy he held at Chelsea wasn’t unknown, but you knew that none of the men in suits had ever mattered to him, and that none of them would have known him truly. It was quite ironic- the fact that you were defaming the very club that had raised not only you but your father as well, and that he had only left behind once you had been old enough to live on your own, and watched as your family moved back into the country you so desperately longed for.
Being back, now, felt like a slap to the face. Your mamma was still inconsolable, although your nonna tried her best to pick the broken pieces from the floor and hold them together just to take another weight off your shoulders. No twenty-three year old should watch as their father was buried, but life was not fair and you had no way to deal with it other than to just deal with it. Silent tears crept down your cheeks as you listened to Father Marcus tell anecdotes of your father’s life, and of his career, and you wondered whether he would’ve liked to be buried nearer to his own home. Italy had always been your mamma’s, but after witnessing the agonizing love between your parents for a time that felt far too short now, you figured that he would want to be wherever she was. The cemetery was only a five-minute walk from your parents’ casa, but it was a three hour flight from your flat.
Still, the walk felt painfully long as you followed most of your parents’ friends to your childhood home, and rain began to softly splatter from the sky as you trotted among the crowd. For the first time in a long time, you didn’t fight it, rather grateful that anyone was unable to tell whether your cheeks were wet with the rain or stained by your tears. You wondered whether this was your Dad telling you to get your act together. It certainly seemed like something he would do, and the thought put the faintest of smiles on your lips. Afraid to seem like a mad woman to the rest of the grieving crowd, you slipped past Father Marcus, away from the procession, as you fiddled your phone out of the pocket of your coat, watching as rain wet the screen.
Another smile crept up on your face at the multiple messages you had received over just the past few hours you had neglected your phone.
Most of your Chelsea teammates were sending you their wishes, along with Emma, but what interested you most was a missed call from an unknown number. An unknown English number.
Silently, you glanced towards the front of the procession, seeing they had almost reached their destination as you found your mamma at the very front, weeping in your nonna’s arms. You should be there, right now, with her, but you simply couldn’t.
Instead, you reached to call the number back. The other line picked up surprisingly fast.
“Hello, Y/N. I was hoping you would call me back. I hope it’s an okay time for you”, a woman on the other line spoke. Furrowing your eyebrows, you nodded, forgetting that whoever it was couldn’t see your movements.
“Oh, sí. Yes, it’s a perfect time, actually?”
“Really? Because I was informed by your club that you were… back in Italy. For…”, the woman trailed away, and you exhaled shakily.
“No, no, it’s okay. I just saw your call, so…”, you tapped your foot against the wet pavement rhythmically, eager to know who you were speaking to.
“Well, it’s Sarina Wiegman here, I’m sorry. I should’ve started with that. Anyways, I was wondering whether you would be interested to join the Lionesses for the Arnold Clark Cup, this year. I know of your circumstances right now, so I don’t need an answer right away.”
You let out a shaky exhale at her words. You had always thought about playing for England, as you had joined both their youth teams as well as Italy’s, while you had still played in the country. They had offered you a place in their senior team far earlier than England had, and although you couldn’t have been sure whether England would ever offer, you had always held out for something. For what, you didn’t know. Although now, it suddenly seemed to make sense.
Your father had played for England, had even captained his country for a short while, and although you had always dreamed of playing for Italy when you were younger, infatuated with their men’s team’s success, much to your father’s dismay, you had not agreed yet. The reason only came to you now. And suddenly, it was so painfully clear.
“Yes, yes. I would really like that”, you smiled to yourself, glancing up at the cloudy sky to clear your teary vision. It didn’t help in the slightest.
“Great! The call-up will be published tomorrow, we’ll send you all the details in an email. I look forward to seeing you in camp!”, your manager cheered, and although it tasted bitter-sweetly in your mouth, you voiced your excitement as well before hanging up the call.
You would play for your father’s country, if all went to plan. You would finally step into his footsteps. You would continue his legacy, whether you really wanted to or not.

leah williamson x arsenal! reader
warnings — tiny angst, annoyed! Leah, Emma Hayes, Chelsea, sorta fluff, coarse language, mention of injury scare.
A/N — in light of Lee’s birthday!!!! short one today, sorry! Thought I would add some spice to this. Emma Hayes needs to realize that pretty much all of woso have dated each other, including her own players lol. there is a mention of Bug, which is a character in one of my stories. Just for context, that is Caitlin Foord’s daughter.
___________________
After hearing Emma Hayes yap on about her opinion on footballers' relationships, you found yourself subjected to a pretty pissed-off Leah Williamson.
Today was the London derby, a long-awaited revenge for Chelsea, it seemed, as the Arsenal bus arrived outside the stadium. Seas of blue and red treaded the stands — you caught sight of a couple of jerseys with your number plastered on the back. Leah was holding your waist as you wandered through the mob of fans reaching for autographs and pictures, a cold facade planted across her face.
Leah was always solemn before games. She was a serious contender, North London bred, with a serious competitive nature that no one could break down.
When you moved to Arsenal from your childhood club, you instantly caught onto Leah’s prominent soberness. Every player knew that if they didn't show up for a game and give it their all, their position would falter. It wasn't like any player with a job as a professional ever thought to underperform, but Leah was an exemption from sincerity. You couldn't joke with her the same way you could during team bonding. You would be stupid to slack off during training or talk to an exaggerated extent when Leah was running beside you. The Lioness Captain copped none of it, and there was no exception for you, her girlfriend.
The woman had woken up with an eminent frown playing on her lips. This was arguably the most important game of the WSL season, and with Leah starting after a long time away, there was a newfound angst set in your shared apartment.
Not only that — the stress Leah had put on herself to perform exceptionally — but the media spotlight Chelsea’s Emma Hayes has put on herself after a certain interview regarding coach-player, and player-player relationships.
From your viewpoint, it didn't really affect you. Everyone had their own opinions based on who dated whom. There was no stopping someone for sharing what they thought, so you simply shook it off as soon as you watched the clip. You did feel bad for the select few of the Blue’s team that were dating players. To not have the personal backing of your coach wouldn't be the most relieving sensation. You knew that the fans were in upheaval regarding her comments, but to be honest, there was nothing anyone could do to stop her.
But, it seemed that Leah did not share the same insight as you.
“She can't just go ‘round saying that.” She barked, hiding the Emirates logo as she crossed her arms in disapproval. “It's barmy, that's what it is.”
You were side by side in the change rooms. Leah was already in her kit, the Chelsea socks sticking out like a sore thumb. You were tugging up your shorts, your shirt yet to cover your sports bra. You sighed, having been hearing Leah go on for the best part of the morning.
“You shouldn't let it worry you, Lee.” You muttered, sorting through your bag, ignoring your girlfriend’s huff. “I don't think she meant any harm—”
“Well she did, didn't she?” She retorted.
You pulled your jersey off the hanger, slipping it on. “Leah, c’mon.”
“Why does she feel the need to talk about us, huh? She should be more worried about the amount of injuries on her team, not about what they do in their free time.”
“Leah, that's enough.” You snapped, your hands planted firmly on your hips. The blonde in front of you looked subtly started by your sudden change of demeanour. “Don't worry about it. It's not worth your time.”
You were currently faced with the nerves of the game, on top of other things like international duties, and the Olympics. To have Leah in this mood, in such a critical time like this, was not only overwhelming but downright anxiety-inducing.
Leah didn't answer you. Instead, she tied her laces and crossed the room, exiting into the tunnel for kick-off. This gave you a few minutes to breathe, to centre yourself. You weren't starting, but your nerves were rising by the time you took your seat next to Alessia.
As soon as the game started, it was clear that Chelsea had it covered. Alessia joked that it was the socks, but you could see by the look on Lee’s face that she was fuming from something other than the odd black that covered her shin pads. You warmed up along the sideline, carrying Caitlin’s bug by your side when you saw her growing restless near Frida.
Unlike the rest of your teammates, you bit their nails at the painful game in front of them, you tried to hone your focus on keeping Bug’s hood down, making her giggle instead of wince at the tackles Caitlin was receiving.
You had been benched for the past few games, your hamstring giving you grief over training. But you were anticipating Jonas to call you over. You waited for the flick of his hand, wanting to make things right on the pitch.
The second-half whistle couldn't have come slower. The starting eleven were frustrated, angry, and quiet when entering the changing rooms, an eerie aura lingering inside. You held onto Bug all the way until Caitlin took over, trudging over to Viv, who happily took the girl up to the stands to watch. Jonas had told you and Emily that you’d be put on, so you were preparing yourself for what was to come.
You tried not to interact with Leah. It was an unspoken rule that unless it was personal, it was not to be said directly, especially when you were losing. But the blonde was leaning nearer to you the closer you were meant to be out on the pitch once more. She made the effort to tug at the hem of your shorts, and hold both your shoulders as she stood behind you, listening to the plan for the rest of the game. You pushed your back into her chest, letting her hug you from behind. She squeezed affectionately, and you noticed the subtle unravelling of her tense shoulders. Her features smoothed when she found out you were replacing Victoria in the midfield, and she made sure to hold your hand as you walked back into the stadium.
“You're doing great, Lee.” You managed to say, hoping that your substitution would be before the sixtieth minute. “Just be careful near the wing. It's very congested and you should wait for the midfield to sort it, alright?”
Leah cared deeply about her career and strived for greatness in all that she did. There was nothing that she couldn't achieve without perfection in her eyes. Many people said that you would bring her down to Earth, and remind her that mistakes are human. But there was only so much you could do, and you found that simply telling the girl that she was making the right decisions, treating her softly, was a tactic no game plan could ever beat.
You were about to find your way down the sidelines, getting ready to finish your warm-up before you were subbed on. Both teams had started filing out of their respected halftime seminars, Chelsea looking as confident as ever. Arsenal were sauntering out with much determination, the spite and inherent desire for justice spewing from the gunner’s crowd. Leah and you were near the entrance of the tunnel, standing on the edge of the field in what seemed like your own personal bubble.
Jonas had taken a seat near the rest of the officials, but Chelsea’s Emma Hayes was standing not far from where the two of you stood, skimming her surroundings vaguely without giving too much away. You could feel the irritation radiating off Leah as soon as the woman was in your sight. You both knew the coach was trying to look at you, without it being bitterly obvious, but it seemed to make the tension rise all the more. Your girlfriend found solace in kissing your forehead, running her hands down your sides painstakingly slow. You felt your cheeks go red, the blush filming over your face when Hayes’ eyes darted away.
“Leah.” You warned her wandering hands, squirming in the taller girl’s potent grip around your hips.
You pulled taunt against her, sighing when she loosened. She ignored your scolding look. A smirk was aligned on her lips, threatening to spill the cocky remarks relieving her lips. You watched her run over to the rest of the team, a meek smile matching hers.
God, you couldn't wait to go home.

“-What are you doing here? Someone’s going to see you!” You whisper shout, pulling the person in by their wrist and peaking your head out the door into the hallway to see if anyone is around. Thankfully there wasn’t.
You were looking through your suitcase before a series of knocks interrupted you. A little confused as to why someone was knocking at your hotel door at 11 at night, you went to open the door and noticed it was your secret girlfriend Millie Bright.
The main reason your relationship is a secret is because of the color of your uniforms. Hers being the dark blue for Chelsea and yours being the bright red for Arsenal. Two players on rival teams falling in love; ironic isn’t it?
If you both played for the same country it would be a little different, but sadly, you don’t. What’s worse is that you play for the USWNT, everybody’s sworn enemy it feels like, although everyone loves you no matter where you’re from. They obviously don’t hate players from the country, but since they’re extremely competitive, they have to keep up their tough front.
“Well, nice to see you too, love.” Millie snickers, slumping down at the end of the hotel mattress with a big thump, squirming in her place to get comfortable. She opens her arms for you to slot yourself on her lap and hug your arms around her neck.
“Sorry, I’m so happy to see you. I’ve missed you.” You sigh, pecking her cheek softly while nuzzling your face into her neck, trying to get as close to her as you can. Her tattooed arm trails underneath your shirt, rubbing at your stomach as she presses tiny kisses along your jaw.
“I’ve missed you too. I have also missed letting the TV run while I get my way with you.” She whispers suggestively, continuing to trail kisses in any place she can reach, making you hum in pleasure.
“Ooo! Look at the sky!” You hop off the blonde’s lap and open the sliding door to go onto the balcony, leaving the defender winded by your sudden disappearance. She sighs with a fond smile, shaking her head before getting up to follow you.
Millie’s arms loop around your waist as her chin finds a place down on your shoulder. Her muscular figure wraps around you comfortably while you both gaze up at the stars in the sky.
“They’re beautiful, aren’t they?” You ask, rocking back and forth slowly with the taller girl’s body against yours.
“Almost as beautiful as you.” She teases, placing a kiss on your neck.
“You’re so cheesy.” You say in fake disgust with your tongue hanging out your mouth to prove your point further. Her fingers pinch your side, warning you to keep your mouth shut.
“I guess listening to Sam’s and Kristie’s calls all the time rubs off on ya.”
You both look at the sky and the people walking up to the hotel for a little bit until you catch a familiar blonde looking up at you with a puzzled face and a hand over her eyes to block the light from the lamppost. Of course, it had to be the Lionesses captain and your fellow Arsenal teammate.
“Shit! Mills go inside. Code red, I repeat code red!” Before your girlfriend can protest, you’re already shoving her through the glass doors and shutting it along with the curtains.
“Now what was that for?” Millie stands with her arms crossed over her chest, wondering why exactly their peaceful stargazing was interrupted by you yelling and pushing her into the hotel room.
“Leah might have just seen us from the sidewalk.” You bite your nails at the confession before peaking out the glass door to see if the girl is still down there. Running a hand through your hair, you begin to pace back and forth wondering if Leah has seen you with the Chelsea defender.
“Leah as in my England captain and your teammate Leah?” Millie asks, trying to process everything that just happened while making sure you’re talking about the same person.
Before you have the chance to answer, the sound of knocking appears at your door, causing your eyes to widen. You look out the peephole and notice Leah standing there with her familiar scowl on her face.
“Oh my god, we’ve gotta hide you.” You push at her back and drag her into the bathroom, gesturing for her to get into the shower.
“I don’t want to go in there!” Millie protests while whispering so she doesn’t alarm the girl who is currently still standing on the other side of your hotel door.
“Either you go in there right now, or you stay and explain to your captain that you’re in a long-term relationship with an Arsenal and United States player.”
“In the shower, I go.” She hops in so you can close the curtain right away and head over to the front door. You look at the mirror next to you and fix your appearance to the best of your ability.
Opening the door, you greet the other defender with a smile, “Hey, Lee. It’s pretty late, what are you doing here?”
You welcome Leah in, gesturing for her to sit either on your bed or on the little chair in the corner, but she chooses to stand.
“I just thought I’d say goodnight to my dearest friend, but I thought I saw someone else on the balcony with you.” She quirks an eyebrow towards you, waiting for you to answer her not-very-obvious question.
“Nope, just me.” You chuckle nervously.
After a few seconds of silence, Leah lets out a big sigh, “Thought I’d just say hey since I saw that you were up. Guess I’ll get goin’” Just when you’re about to think she’s leaving when she heads over to the door, she turns around and asks, “Do you have any extra tissues? Russo and Mccabe just finished watching The Notebook for the first time and used it all.”
“Umm yeah, I’ll go grab that for you-“
“No, it’s okay. I know where it is.”
Leah misses the panicked expression on your face when she heads into the bathroom. She looks under the sink and grabs the extra box before making her way back out by you. You almost sigh in relief when she doesn’t notice the tall figure standing behind your shower curtains, but you refrain yourself so she doesn’t ask questions.
“Goodnight, Lee. See you tomorrow.” You wave her out the door, closing it and locking everything you can so no one with a key card can get in. Hands grab at your waist making you jump at the sudden contact but relax hearing the familiar voice of your brick wall of a girlfriend.
“That was a close one. I think that calls for a long night of cuddles, don’t ya think?” She asks, jumping onto the mattress with her arms wide open, waiting for you to join her. You laugh at her childish pout and shuffle your body to fit into hers, resting your head on her chest.
“I love you.” You mumble sleepily.
Millie places a peck on your forehead whispering back, “I love you too, sweets. Get some sleep.”
—
“You actually saw Mills in the room with her?” Beth asks with a shocked expression on her face.
“Yes! Her bun was literally peaking over the shower curtain. Y/n/n thought I didn’t see Millie on the balcony with her when it was so obvious seeing how much bigger she is compared to our tiny Gooner.” Leah states as everyone rolls their eyes at yours and Millie’s attempt to hide your relationship.
The Chelsea and Arsenal players caught onto your relationship quickly when they caught you sneaking off into a materials closet to snog each other’s faces off. With the many attempts of the two of you trying to keep it a secret, they thought it would be fun to let it keep happening to get a little laugh in.
Everyone 100% supports you guys in every way. They think you both complement each other well and you’re basically a match made in heaven.
“Don’t get me started when I saw Millie get all lovesick on the phone a few weeks ago. When I asked her who it was, she tried to say it was Daly.” Sam shakes her head, taking a sip out of her drink. A bunch of the girls, both red and blue, decided to hang out in one of their rooms to have a meeting about you two.
“Do you think they’ll ever realize that they’re not as subtle as they think they are?” Niamh questions to which the whole group responds in a series of no’s, shaking their heads at your guys' obliviousness.
—
“Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass- ah!”
One second you’re walking around, next you’re being yanked away by an unknown source. You had time to spare before you had to go out on the pitch and practice, so you decided to stroll around and get a little pregame walk in.
“Beautiful singing there, love.”
“Warn a girl next time, almost gave me a heart attack.” You exclaim, pushing at her chest in fake offense which doesn’t even make her move an inch because of her string build.
She grips your waist and softly presses you up against the corner wall. Her lips begin to pepper all over your skin, from your cheeks to your collarbones.
“Mills, someone’s going to catch us.” You protest weakly, too consumed by the feelings of her kisses pressing lightly at all the right spots.
“We’re tucked away in a corner, no one will see us, darling.” Her voice vibrates against your neck, causing you to let out a soft giggle, melting the heart of your lover. “I miss you.”
You grab her cheeks with both of your hands and swipe the loose strands of hair that have fallen out of her bun. “You just saw me last night, baby. We’ll get to see each other again.”
“Yeah, but I had to sneak out in the early morning so no one would notice me leaving your room which is hardly romantic might I say.”
Your eyes remain on hers, roaming every detail of the different hues of blue splattered in her eyes. She smiles back at you and places her hand over yours that continues to stroke her cheek.
Snapping out of your little love bubble, you clear your throat and ask, “Is there any reason you stopped me from my regular pregame stroll?”
“Oh just wanted to come and wish you luck, but also let you know that there are no hard feelings after we destroy you.” She smirks, straightening her posture and showing off her new captain band.
“That’s so funny because I was just going to say the same thing.” Millie rolls her eyes at your mocking tone and threatens to walk away, but you grab her wrist and pull her back into you. “Good luck kiss?”
The defender huffs but leans in anyway, never being able to deny you. It first starts as an innocent peck but then you pull her back in for another and things start getting more heated. After a minute of her tongue in your mouth, you pull away gasping for breath while giggling slightly in the slight haze you’re in.
“Thank you for that, hope it makes you feel better after Arsenal beats Chelsea’s ass!”
And it turns out, you weren’t wrong. Arsenal won 2-1 with a goal from Lacasse and Russo. There were a few chances of you scoring a header but with a certain captain’s hands on your waist, whispering her thoughts about you had you distracted.
Safe to say that you’re not on your best game when playing against Millie Bright.
You’re now shaking hands with all of the other team when you approach the blonde. You both begin to talk while drinking out of your water bottles just chatting away. Millie leans in for a hug which you accept and take in her big embrace.
“Oi! You were already off kissin’, you can be separated for a little bit now.” An Irish accent interrupts you, making you pull away with a shocked look on both of your faces.
Your fellow Arsenal teammates stand next to Chelsea’s as they all stare at you two with amused expressions. Millie stands awkwardly, stuttering at the fact you two were caught while you gasp and point your finger at all of them.
“You all knew?!”
—
“Hardy har har, we get it. We weren’t as secretive as we thought we were.” You roll your eyes at everyone’s continuous teasing.
After the game, everyone agreed to go out and have a few drinks at the pub down the street since there’s a little break in the season and everyone has free time. The whole group besides you and Millie decided it was time to share all the times they either caught or suspected the two of you, many of the stories being incredibly embarrassing.
Millie is sitting on the booth with you on top of her, legs sprawled across her lap. One of her hands rests comfortably on the spot where your skin is exposed, right next to your belly button while her other holds onto her bottle of beer. You continue to sip on your cocktail as everyone turns to their separate conversations.
The blonde below you taps on your stomach, making you shift your attention to her, seeing her neck crooked up with her lips pursed. You let out a small laugh and lean over to press a few short but equally sweet kisses to her lips. Millie smiles in delight before the sound of fake gagging can be heard from across the table.
“Can’t you guys go swap saliva in the privacy of your own room?” Katie once again interrupts but ends up getting hit on the back of the head by Caitlin.
“You all better turn away because what I’m about to do is not PG!” Without warning, Millie grips your jaw with one hand and pulls you into a sloppy kiss, kissing the life out of you and dramatically making loud noises to peeve the other girls, causing your nose to crinkle at the disgusting sounds.
You push her away and hang your tongue out, showing your obvious fake displeasure. A few of the girls whooped at the public display of affection while others covered the eyes of the innocent ones. Everyone gets their laughs and jokes out, trying their best to patter on your so-called new relationship.
You’re laughing with Leah and Alessia about their little game disagreement when you notice how quiet Millie has been. You look over and see her staring into space so you wave your hand in front of her face, bringing her back onto earth with a small smile.
“Why don’t you let your hair down, baby? Loosen up a little.” You rub your thumb on the apple of her cheek while swiping away a strand of hair that fell down on her cheek.
“Mm, might have to wait till after we get to the hotel because the things I plan on doing to ya require my hair to stay out of the way.” A deep crimson red coats your cheeks before you look over to the side, sipping on your drink to avoid the lustful stare from the tattooed woman.
“Cheekyyy,” Sam says having slid over closer to you two for whatever reason.
Millie is quickly guiding you out the door, bidding your goodbyes to everyone and ignoring the wolf whistles that follow you out the door. After your rewarding night, you both equally decide to share your relationship with the world, so when you have up to thousands of notifications, you shut your phone and nuzzle your face right back onto your girlfriend’s chest.

Leah Williamson x reader
A/N: Mentions of throwing up and nausea.
Your eyes flutter when you feel your body start to wake up. The season changing from summer to fall makes you feel relieved. You consider it a clean sheet, a desperately needed fresh start for instance. When the season changes, it marks how the world still moves forwards. It’s a blunt reminder that, everything still has to go on. It’s not summer anymore, but the light outside is the kind of light that blinds you in the fall. It takes you some adjusting to get used to the light pouring in from outside. The light peeks through the slit of your curtains revealing your apartment’s desperate need for a clean with dust particles roaming through the air.
The fall has made its appearance. Colouring the landscape into a golden shade of brown and yellow blended into a perfect combination. Before you wrap yourself in the big comforter again, you run your eyes across the window. You live fairly high up, the kind of high that makes the building sway with the wind’s despair. The pillow calls for you and you happily oblige, putting your head on the soft square.
“07:33” you parrot to yourself before obliging to your body’s call for sleep. Sleep is weighing heavily on your eyelids before you feel a startle. Moments before you feel yourself soar into to your most holy happiest place: Your body does a startle that frightens you beyond your own knowledge leaving your back feeling cold.
“07:33?? Shit, shit, shit, shit!” You yell out in frustration in the shell of an apartment that once was filled with love. The instant panic causes you to go diving off the bed and become familiar with the carpet, naturally face first. That’s when the inner chaos erupts . Your keys are nowhere to be found, but ultimately you find them on the shoe rack. Then realisation hits you; all your training bra’s are dirty. As a compromise you end up with the next best thing; A bright pink Nike swim top.
As you flee out the door, you instantly have to run back in for your phone and when you eventually get to the car feeling lightheaded from the running; you are wearing two different shoes.
The feeling of letting someone down is so painful that you’d rather be let down yourself. You hurry back into the apartment at the speed of a lightning practically jumping on one leg out into the hallway with one sneaker on your right food and the other in your hand desperately trying to get it on. You do a spin as soon as your shoes are physically on to your feet before you run out of the hallway, fly down all 16 floor and jumps into the car. By grace, you end up making it somewhat safely to your destination. The wheels of the car stops turning at 07.44, just 1 minute shy of the obligatory first breakfast with your te
Your frame moves in a rapid speed outside making a beeline for the player’s entrance across the parking lot. A few swears escapes your lips in frustration as you pass car after car. Before it happened, you were always early. The chaos of oversleeping leads to your hair being everywhere. ThTs also knew. Everyone knows that you don’t oversleep, ever. When you enter the cafeteria with your hands busy tying your hair up, Jonas gives you an apologetic look. He dosent look mad or disappointed in you, his eyes are giving you grace. The whole team is giving you grace because they all know. Even though you tried to camouflage it, hide it in the deepest of closets and put on the bravest face you could; they still all knew.
“Welcome back, girls. We are delighted to have you all back and I trust that you have all had immensely with rest. This fall, there are some changes moving into action..” The team’s coordinator announces as you attempt finding your spot. The attempt is rather unsuccessful, and it makes you sound like an elephant in a porcelain store.
You slide down next to Guro and Jessie. Sitting between the two girls makes you feel safe and seen. Guro is a natural leader. Her leadership will push you to your physical limits, but she will be the first to notice any kind of change in behaviour. She was a good choice as the Norwegian captain.
The girls share a look before Jessie pats your back which sends you into a pre spiral. Whenever people showed you kindness, your radars immediately went off, making it feel like something was wrong. You try to shake the thought, but the attempt remains unsuccessful.
“It’s okay, I’m so happy you showed up, Y/N. I’m here for you.” Guro whispered to you. The act was meant as a good deed, but it left you feeling even further confused. Guro was there when it happened, she was the first and only person you told. Your eyes move to Jessie who sends you yet another apologetic look. The look is enough to send shivers down your spine.
“..and with that, our newest signing will be coming in for practice in a few hours. Let’s all enjoy the fantastic breakfast that our amazing workers has prepared for us. Here is to a good season of growth and training!” the coordinator ends her speech. The speech stretched out for what seemed like forever, leaving you with a very obnoxious yawn. You thought that the group would be annoyed on the seemingly disrespectful motion, but instead the apologetic looks flooded like flowers at a funeral. All of the words from the coordinator had gone above and beyond your head. The anxiety was building up like a boiling kettle in your gut. It felt like your body had set off an alarm to active your entire nervoussystem. You rub your hands together for comfort, not getting any kind of relief.
The anixety gathers up in your gut, throat and eventually your headspace. Guro is the first to notice. It was obvious when everyone at your table had stood up to explore the breakfast buffet, but you got left behind. Guro looks at you with empathy in her eyes.
"Y/N? Lets get something to eat before you decide to panic"
"Huh?"
Your visibly confused gaze shifts towards Guro.
"I just can't shake the feeling that something bad is about to happen..
" You say as you get up and Guro grabs your hand. The walk to the desk is so silent that you swear people could hear your thougts. The dishes are lined up. The first breakfast after breaks are always a big deal in the Chealsea household. Your stomach is growling for food, but all you feel is nausea. The feeling stings in you when your eyes meet the older lady. Her smile is so big and she looks so proud of her pancakes. You offer her a small smile. Reluctantly, you grab pancakes, some berries and a smoothie before you head back to the table.
At the table, the conversation is going like a whirlwind. Lucy is going on about how much she hates the cold while Sam is blabbering about the latest ring she got her partner. You stand out from the crowd, just quietly munching on the strawberries that you grabbed. The only thing you want to, is to go home and curl up in a small ball and die.
Jessie suddenly looks at Guro with a slight fright in her eyes. You look at both the girls moving your head from one side to the other. Jessie gulps. Guro gives Jessie an annoyed look. The annoyance and frustration is rapidly bulding up. You drop your fork down on your plate when your spot a familiar pair of eyes moving towards your table. Your heartrate skyrockets and you feel an instant need to throw up. Your hands go cold and you face goes red.
"Hey, im Leah and im excited to be your new teammate" she says with a stupid excited smirk on her face while reaching out her hand at you. You stare at her hand. If eyes could cut, she would be without hands.
Everyone goes silent. The whole room goes silent. Everyone saw what happend to your earlier. All of them saw the damage that was done. Everyones eyes are at you. You panic. Its a fight, freeze, flee moment. You want to yell at the top of your lungs. Cuss her out. Scream and cry and yell.
You stand up with your heart going crazy. You look Leah in her eyes. The rage is building up further. Jessie taps your hand. Your gaze meets hers. Then you look up at Leah again. You give her a stern look before you turn around and walk away. If she could walk away, why couldnt you?

When I’d heard my phone buzzing the last thing I would have expected was a missed call from her and a flurry of texts.
Leah
Come over? 10.15pm
Please, I miss you, I’m lonely. 10.16pm
Let’s have some fun 😉? 10.18pm
Here’s the new address if you didn’t already have it. Unit two Lower end Road Buckinghamshire. 10.21pm
I hadn’t heard from her in months, not since England beat Australia in the World Cup. I looked around the bar that I was sitting at with my friends and teammates, it was Friday night and we’d taken it upon ourselves to get our weekend started on a goodnote, the Chelsea girls knew how to party. I’m gradually getting myself fucked up and now I can’t get her out of my head, everything about it feels shameful. All I can think about is her, I thought we were done, thought we were through but I can’t help myself from looking down at the texts, she’s calling my phone and she’s all alone and I can’t even hear my own thoughts with the music thrumming through the space and the adrenaline rush that’s getting to my head as I think about her.
Seeing her tonight, it’s a bad idea right?
Fuck it.
I collect my things quite quickly, giving my friends all goodbyes, telling them that I’m not feeling well and I’m just going to get a uber home. Millie, Sam and Guro are all disappointed, Madga insists she’ll drive me home but I deny her immediately, telling her I’ll just catch a uber and that I don’t want to ruin the night for any of them. They all seemed slightly worried by my answer but had accepted it nonetheless, Sam insisting that she’d call the uber for me, which was slightly annoying but also a battle I knew I wouldn’t win, I was just going to have to direct the driver to Leah’s instead of mine.
She walked me out to the car, in typical older sister fashion, she’d adopted me as soon as I’d joined her at Chelsea and it was sometimes funny to me how overprotective she got. She walked me all the way to the car, checking that I had the right driver and making sure I had my seatbelt fastened before saying her goodbyes. The whole time I couldn’t stop thinking about Leah, my brain clouded over with the thoughts of her. Sure she might be my ex but can’t two people reconnect? We just saw each other as friends, right?
As soon as the driver starts to move the car in the direction of my apartment I redirect him to Leah’s apartment, she only lives five minutes away so I just decide I’ll tip him generously.
I can’t believe that I’m wrecking all my plans for her, I know I should stop, but I can’t. I told my friends that I was feeling sick and I was heading to bed but I never said who’s.
Before I know it ‘m showing up at your place, climbing out of the car and looking up at your apartment. Should I? Probably not. All that I can hear in my head is you though, we’re just friends is all I can tell myself but I also know that it’s the biggest lie I’ve ever told myself.
I’m walking up the stairs, to the second floor and before I know what I’m doing I’m knocking on your door and you're standing, smiling at the door.
Before I know she’s pulling me into the apartment and before I can even say anything because her lips are on my own. I don’t even put up a fight, letting her devour me just as I’d been dreaming about the whole way here. It’s just two people reconnecting, right?
Her hands are all over me, snaking up and down my waist and legs as she devours my mouth and neck with ease.
“Bedroom baby, not in the hallway.”
Leah nods eagerly, smirking as she pulls be with one hand down the entrance and quickly into her room, forcing me to trip and fall into her bed.
“Missed you.”
It was murmured against my neck as she continued her assault of the skin all over my body, I swore she was touching every single nerve ending in my body, it was like I was on fire, in all of the best ways. She always made me feel that way, I think that was why I always came crawling back to her even if I was just another one of her things for her to play with when she was bored and alone, at least it was the best sex of my life, every single time.
She took her time as well, tending to every single part of my body before she even dipped below my underwear, taking her time to stirp every layer of my clothes and to worship every part of skin that was revealed to her with another layer gone, I felt like a babushka doll, slowly being stripped down until I was just me. She knew she was good as well, knew just how well she knew my body. She was smug about it, in the disgusting boyfriend way that made me so giddy on the insides.
When she did eventually work her way down I was a trembling, moaning mess. My coherency was gone and all I could do was mutter Leah’s name and a trail of profanities that only she could ever make me produce.
Leah had stamina, an insane amount, she could go all night, she’d proven that to me in the past. I could sense that wasn’t going to be tonight though, something about tonight seemed softer, more delicate, less fucking out our feelings. It was poetic in a way that I’d never experienced with Leah and it sort of weirded me out, not enough to not enjoy the feeling of her tongue slowly descending down on my pussy, licking it’s way through my folds like she was fucking cat. My body reacted almost immediately, letting out more strings of profanities and moans, embarrassingly sinful groans that I was sure Leah’s neighbours could probably hear.
She didn’t stop until I was an incoherent mess, giving me orgasm after orgasm until I couldn’t even talk anymore. Using her tongue, fingers and my facourite vibrator of hers to have me at her mercy. Once I think I’d gotten to my fifth she decided I was done, I was floating on a endorphin cloud, and didn’t even really notice as Leah helped me into her covers and into her blankets and sheets. By the time she had gotten me under them though I’d managed to awaken enough that I was thinking straight and seeing. Leah was lying down next to me, still mostly clothed and as far as I was aware, untouched.
“Let me look after you?”
Leah was never a receiver, told me she found pleasure in seeing me in pleasure, which I loved but I also loved seeing Leah enjoying herself.
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to.”
With that answer Leah had nodded at me, her bottom lip between her teeth as my hand snaked under the covers and down her body, gently unclipping her bra and letting my hand snake further down and inbetween her own legs. She was soaked, dripping straight through her panties and it was pretty easy for me to make her come down with just my hand, pinching her clit and watching her face as she shook and squirted all over my fingers. By the time she’d come down we were both well and truly spent. It didn’t take long for Leah’s hands to wrap their way around my waist, twisting us up in her sheets into a pile of sweat and limbs.
“Missed you.”
Leah’s hands were busying themselves in my hair, massaging my scalp and tugging at my roots.
“Missed you too, Lee.”
My voice was murmured against her bicep, which my head was resting against, giving her easier access to my scalp. I could still feel the faint effects of the alcohol that I had consumed earlier, making me sort of giddy and warm on the inside. Nothing though could compare to the pure warmth of feeling Leah’s breath against my neck, brushing air up and down the sensitive skin.
“What were you doing, before I texted?”
“I was out with the team, getting drinks at the bar on James street.”
I knew that she knew the one I was talking about, I was fairly sure we’d been there together before, but I wasn’t completely certain.
“You left the team for me?”
There was a lot of insecurity in her voice. We were both extremely tied into our clubs, only having played for them and being die hard supporters of our clubs. I bled blue and her blood was Arsenal red, it was just how we were.
“I guess, what did you think I was doing?”
Leah’s hands continued their gentle rub of my head, she practically had me mewling in her arms.
“I guess I thought you were home or something, didn’t really think about it, figured if you were doing something that you would just ignore me.”
“You know that I would never ignore you right. I physically can’t.”
Leah’s hands stopped for a split second when the words left my mouth, not long enough for it to be highly noticeable though.
“I’m sorry I ghosted you.”
“You didn’t ghost me, ghosting is implying that I reached out to you and you have actively ignored me, we mutually discommunicated. It’s not like we’re dating or anything, you're under no obligation to text me.”
Leah’s hands began to slow, a clear sign she was thinking.
“Did you want to text me?”
It was a dopey question, so Leah like.
“Of course I wanted to text you Leah, I just didn’t know what we were and I didn’t want to make assumptions.”
“What do you think we are?”
I let the question hand in the air for a few minutes, contentedly relaxing into Leah’s fingers and thinking about the question.
“I mean Leah, it’s no secret that you make your way around. I always thought I was just another one of your girls that you call when you're feeling horny, I’m fine with that, but I’d be lying if I said that I hadn’t wanted more at some stage.”
I heard Leah exhale from above me, we’d always had a friends with benefits relationship, that’s always how I’d classified it.
“I love you, y/n.”
I froze up at those words, they’d been the very last thing I’d been expecting to leave Leah’s mouth.
“No you don’t, shut up, the endorphins are getting to your head.”
It was my defence mechanism, denial and refusal.
“Uh, I’ve got bad news for you, I think I do.”
Before I knew it she was tilting my head back fully, so I was looking at her in the eye and just one look at those brown orbs showed me the amount of sincerity that was held in them.
“What?”
I was so fucking confused, surely it was the alcohol, the scotch that I’d had getting to my head.
“I mean, I know that most of our relationship has been sex, but the mronigns and nights we’ve spent together have been amazing and I know everyone thinks that I work my way around but as soon as I started seeing you I stopped, because you were enough, but it’s not enough for me anymore seeing you once a month or whenever we can, I want you everyday. I want to wake up beside you, I want to have sleepy morning sex and breakfast in bed. I want you all the time, not when we can make it work.”
The sentence was ended with a peck to my forehead, it took everything in my power to not laugh at Leah because even though I knew she was being genuine there was something so funny about this whole predicament to me.
“Are you sure?”
“What do you mean am I sure, of course I am, I wouldn’t have laid my heart out like that if I wasn’t.”
Leah’s voice was full of exasperation, I knew it was taking a lot for her to make these admissions because whether or not she wanted to admit it she was a very guarded person and it took a lot for her to say something like that.
“That’s nice.”
Leah let out a snort, a big, loud snort that just make me smile.
“That’s nice? That’s all I get after laying my heart out?”
“I love you too?”
My words were muttered out between a litter of laughs and breaths as I watched Leah’s face contort into something of annoyance and adoration.
“Can you say it without it being a question?”
I licked my lips and smiled at her.
“What do I get if I do?”
“Will a kiss suffice?”
I bit my lip and smirked at her.
“I love you.”
I put as much into the words as I could, being rewarded with a soft kiss to my lips, both of our eyes were growing heavy and you could tell by the softness in the actions.
“Say it again.”
I rolled my eyes at Leah, reaching up and pressing my lips to hers between every word.
“I,” kiss “Love,” kiss “You,” kiss “Leah,” kiss “Williamson.”
I could feel her smirking against my lips and everything about it was right.
“Now that I’ve made it clear, I’m actually feeling quite tired so how about you give me some hugs and we go to sleep and maybe have that sleepy morning sex you mentioned when we wake up?”
Leah smirked at me, smugly, how she did when anyone talked about sex around her.
“I think I can do that.”
I’d moved onto my side and Leah’s arms had woven her way around my waist, essentially spooning me. It was so wholesome, so unlike anything that had ever occurred between us and before I knew it I was drifting off in Leah’s arms.
I was awoken unhappily by the sound of my phone ringing madly from beside us. I picked it up quickly, before I could get a look at the caller ID, too worried that the sound would awaken Leah. I was lucky she was a deep sleeper. I very hastily pressed the phone to my ear, to be met with the voice of my adoptive sister/mother.
“Where the fuck are you?”
I probably should have expected this call.
“What do you mean?”
“I just got home, you’re not here.”
Fuck.
“I’m with a friend.”
I heard Sam’s growl from the other side of the line.
“You said you were sick, why the fuck are you with a friend?”
I didn’t really have an answer to that question.
“I’m safe, I’m fine, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
I hung up the phone quickly, placing it back down on the bedside table and sliding myself back into Leah, tangling our limbs back together and slotting myself back in next to her.
“Who was it?”
Leah’s voice was full of sleep and I was sure she hadn’t even opened her eyes.
“Sam.”
Leah nodded against me, clearly content with my answer.
“What did she want?”
“Wanted to know where I was, I told her I was sick when I left the bar and I guess she got home and wondered where I was. She sounded like she’d had a few drinks, she probably won’t even remember by the time morning rolls around.”
Leah nodded again, I could tell she wasn’t fully awake and didn’t intend on becoming fully awake.
“Go back to sleep, we’ll sort it out in the morning.”
I let myself relax back into Leah’s body, relaxing into her warmth and the safety she offered and letting myself fall back to sleep in her arms.
I would have loved to have said that I awoke to sleepy, morning kisses and sex. I didn’t. I woke up to the sound of somebody pounding on Leah’s door. Both Leah and I shot up in the bed, her jumping up quickly and finding a discarded pair of boxer shorts and an oversized shirt very quickly and me locating my pants and shirt from the night before and throwing them on quick enough to see Leah sliding out of her room and down the hall. I managed to duck my head out just in time to see her open the door and see who was waiting behind it, silently shitting myself when I saw the four women pushing past a very shell shocked Leah.
Millie, Magda, Pernille and Sam were the four last people I wanted to see in this circumstance and place.
“Sure, just let yourselves in, no worries guys.”
There was insecurity hidden behind her words, as much as she tried to make them sound confident.
“What the fuck are you all doing here?”
My voice was close to a shriek, it was 6.30 in the morning for fucks sakes and yet they were all here, looking as bright as daisies in Leah’s apartment.
“You told us you were sick, Sam got an ominous call from you, we looked at your location, it said you were here, so we came to check up on you, see how that sickness was going. Seems like you’ve found yourself a carer in our absence though. I wasn’t aware you two were acquainted, good morning Leah, good to see you getting out of your shell.”
Leah and I both looked at each other and then back at Millie, she could be down right scary when she was mad or annoyed.
“I’m feeling much better.”
There was sass behind my words that I knew wouldn’t slide with the group.
“I think you’d both better get to explaining, fairly quickly, before we all start to make assumptions.”
I smirked at Sam, it was all going to happen in due time I supposed, and there was no way of trying to worm out of this situation so what was the harm in telling a few people. I looked at Leah for assurance and when I saw her nod at me I started talking,
“Leah and I have been in a situation for a few months now, on and off since around the olympics I think. Nothing commitment, just friends with benefits. She texted me last night and I decided I wanted to go see her, so I told you all I felt sick and I headed over to her house. I’m sure you can piece together with your own heads what happened between then and now.”
I waved my hand nonchalantly at the group that was congregated in Leah’s kitchen, they were my family, Magda and Pernille were Millie, Sam and I’s parents and we were all sisters. Magda was the bad cop, because she never let anything slide and was always onto us about anything. Pernille the good cop, always sending us smiles and little graces that we loved her for. We loved the both equally, for the different things they both provided. I knew Leah had a similar relationship with Kim Little, who was like her Arsenal mom, she was probably going to be the next person we would have to face about this.
“What the actual fuck?”
Sam’s voice piping up didn’t surprise me, out of all of them she was the most protective of mek being my National captain as well we spent a lot of time together, she was my best friend in the entire world.
“Samantha, watch that language.”
Sam gave Magda and eyeroll before turning back to Leah and I, Leah who was now standing beside me in the doorway of her room, the room we had previously been sleeping in, something I missed quite largely.
“You’re telling me that you two fucking rabbits kept this a secret for like three years and now you’re telling people, what the actual flying fuck.”
Magda’s hand was squeezing Sam’s bicep and I was a little bit scared for Leah’s safety if that hand Magda had secured slipped.
“Well the circumstances between us have changed, slightly.”
Leah nodded in agreement with my statement, clearly she was trying to help present a united front.
“Leah and I are dating?”
The words felt weird leaving my mouth, but Leah’s nod from beside me gave me the impression that they were the right words and it made me sort of warm on the inside, like drinking a cup of hot cocoa in the middle of winter and feeling it seep into your bones.
“Well, I’m glad we’ve sorted this all out, we’ll leave you both to it, although don’t think we won’t be having words about this y/n, we will be. Besides that I think it’s time we leave, sorry for disturbing you both, sorry for breaking into your apartment Williamson, I’m sure we’ll see you around now. We’ll see you later y/n/n.”
Magda’s voice was strong, it was an order for the rest of the group to leave and for some reason, they did, the four of them blushing, speechless messes as they filed out of Leah’s apartment without any words besides some hushed goodbyes. As soon as the door closed both Leah and I were erupting in laughter.
Seeing her last night maybe wasn’t that bad of an idea? right?
