Ever since I started to read IDW Sonic (yes even when I was reading them in English), I've always read Tangle with the voice of European Voice Actress Laura Pastor, and I fianlly decided to make an small compilation to show what I mean with this.
I don't know how noticeable this is for people who don't speak Spanish, but I feel like it's the perfect fit for her.
{English added by me}

Cerdita (Piggy)
Movies watched in 2023
Cerdita (Piggy) (2022, Spain)
Director & Writer: Carlota Pereda
Mini-review:
I loved this way more than I thought I would. The representation probably isn't perfect, but it portrays fatphobia in a really harsh and unflinching light. Some people might find it too much, but I think Carlota Pereda made the right choice, showing how bullying and abuse can affect a person's psyche. Oh, and it was a fantastic move to show that fatphobia can happen at home as much as it happens outside. While there are strong doses of dark humor here and there, the movie is a pretty hard watch at times, so be warned.
All that being said, the movie's true power rests entirely on Laura Galán's bravura performance. She perfectly conveys her character's anxiety, confusion and terror. I couldn't help but relate to her, even as her situation escalates into something pretty crazy. Also, Carmen Machi's acting is as excellent as always, but I already expected that. Finally, I wanted to mention the cinematography and the sound design. The movie flawlessly captures the vibes of summer life in a small, rural-ish Spanish town, from the light to the background noises. So yeah, I will definitely keep an eye out for Pereda and Galán's future work.

Summary: What if Steve was in the woods with Chrissy and Eddie getting weed for his headaches?

Chapter Nineteen
Tw: Laura makes one final appearance. I had to make Eddie do this. 😆
Two days later. . .
Things had settled down a little now, although everyone was still pretty jumpy, and they would probably never stop looking over their shoulder. There was a sense of relief, though, knowing that Vecna was dead and that Chrissy had felt him die, so there was no doubt about it. According to Chrissy, El, Will, Mike, Jonathan, and a guy named Argyle were on their way back to Hawkins. Currently, they were helping Chrissy move out of her house and into her uncle's. They were packing up her things and her brother's. Steve had thought it was hilarious when Chrissy pulled up the floorboard of her brother's room in front of Laura and found all the things Matty had hidden from his mother. The look on Laura's face was priceless, especially when Chrissy flipped her off. Laura was standing off to the side, watching through pursed lips as they moved the last of their stuff out.
"Oh, I've got one thing to say," Eddie said, setting a box down.
Steve and Chrissy watched as he started licking all the things in her tidy kitchen. Laura shrieked when he pulled his pants down and started wiggling his naked butt on her counter.
"Get out!" Laura yelled.
Eddie grinned and quickly pulled up his pants before grabbing the box. He hightailed it out of the house, giggling with Steve and Chrissy.
"Eddie!" Chrissy shrieked with laughter. "I can't believe you did that!"
"I'm sorry, was it wrong of me?" Eddie asked, batting his eyelashes at her.
"Okay, what did we miss?" Dustin asked as he stopped loading boxes into Eddie's van.
Chrissy and Steve laughed harder when Eddie wiggled his butt.
"Oh, you know, just me being a pain in the ass," Eddie laughed.
Max rolled her eyes as she took the last box from him and loaded up in the van. She immediately headed for Steve’s car and slid into the passenger's seat.
"Shotgun!" Max called out.
"That's not fair! I was distracted," Dustin said. "Steve!"
"What? I'm not actually your mother. Get your ass in the car before she calls the cops on us," Steve said.
Chrissy's belongings were packed away into Eddie's van, and she crawled into the passenger's seat of his van, laughing. Eddie climbed into the driver's seat and peeled out of the driveway, allowing Steve out in front of him. Steve watched from the rear view mirror as Chrissy stuck half her body out of the window, raising it above the van. She raised her middle fingers at the house.
"Fuck you very much!" They heard Chrissy scream.
Steve laughed as Max, Dustin, and Lucas cheered for her. When they pulled up to the Fisher household. Vickie, Robin, and Matthew were unloading some more of Chrissy's things that they had rescued from the church donations. Steve scowled for a moment, remembering the look on Chrissy's face when she found out that her mother had donated some of her stuff. Luckily, the pastor thought it was odd and set the stuff aside. As they were unpacking Chrissy's things, Max and Lucas started bursting into song. Steve laughed, and Dustin groaned when they realized it was the Neverending Story song. Steve couldn't help but join in with everyone else looking on in confusion except for Robin. She rolled her eyes and started singing as well with Dustin burying his face in his hands.
"I hate you," Dustin said, without heat.
"Someone let me in so I can also tease the butthead," Eddie said with a grin when they finished.
"No!" Dustin shrieked.
"I'll tell you guys later," Steve whispered to Chrissy and Eddie.
Once they unpacked all of Chrissy and Matty's things, Matthew clapped his hands together with a grin.
"As a way of welcoming Chrissy home, I figured that I would make us a celebratory lunch, and you're all - ," Matthew started to say and then the phone rang. "Goddamnit."
Matthew disappeared and came back a few moments later with a frown on his face.
"Bad news, my dears, I have to go into work," Matthew sighed. "A difficult patient has come in, and he's a bit paranoid, so he only trusts me to work on him. As difficult as he is, I do like him, and I want him alive so . . . "
"It's okay, Daddy, we get it," Vickie said.
"Yeah, nothing to apologize for when you're saving a life," Chrissy said with a smile.
"It's okay, Mr. Fisher, we'll go over to Steve’s and I'll make us something. I'm more familiar with his kitchen," Dustin said.
"Stop offering up my place like it's yours!" Steve exclaimed, half joking.
"Well, it's not my fault that you made it so homey when my mother and I lived there when our house was being fumigated!" Dustin exclaimed.
"Yeah. My place is fine. He does make the best pizza," Steve said, affectionately ruffling his hair.
"And I have just the movie to watch when we get there," Robin said and looked at Vickie with a smile. "I rented it special for a certain someone."
Vickie looked confused at first, and then she made a squealing sound when she realized.
"You didn't?! The Wizard of Oz?!" Vickie asked.
"I did!" Robin exclaimed.
Vickie squealed again, hugging her tightly and kissing her cheek.
"Well, I'm glad you guys have a backup plan," Matthew said, pulling Vickie and Chrissy into a hug. "Even if I can't be there."
"Oh, Uncle Matthew, we can celebrate with you anytime. We should have dinner just the three of us," Chrissy said.
"That sounds like a plan, too," Matthew grinned.
He said goodbye to Vickie and Chrissy, then to everyone else before leaving. Shortly after, everyone left for Steve’s place. As soon as they got there, Steve called Nancy and the rest of Hellfire to invite them over. Steve then groaned, clutching his stomach. He collapsed onto the couch.
"You okay, baby?" Chrissy asked.
"Yeah. I think I overdid it," Steve said.
"Well, you just relax, sweetheart," Eddie said. "We'll supervise the butthead in the kitchen."
"You mean annoy him," Chrissy giggled and Eddie shrugged.
Eddie pushed his hair back, kissed his forehead, and then his lips. Chrissy leaned down to kiss him too and then started to walk towards the kitchen.
"Wait," Steve said, and they stopped. "You guys free a couple of Saturdays from now?"
"Yeah," Chrissy grinned.
"Yes, quite busy, I have this thing - oof, Chrissy! I'm kidding, kidding. Absolutely free for you, big boy," Eddie grinned.
"Well, I was thinking since I'd be in much better shape by then, I'd figure that's when we have our first official date," Steve said. "What do you say?"
"Definitely," they said and kissed both his cheeks.
As they were leaving, Vickie, Robin, Max, and Lucas were entering the living room.
"Good luck. He wouldn't let us help," Robin scowled.
Eddie just cackled and dragged Chrissy into the kitchen.
Robin plopped down next to Steve while Vickie sat against her legs. Max sat down next to her and pulled Lucas into her lap, pressing her cheek against his chest as he wrapped an arm around her.
"How are you doing?" Robin asked Steve.
"Good, I mean, my bites are feeling itchy, but Matthew says that's good. It means it's healing. Still hurts like a bitch though as well as the road rash and my throat," Steve said.
"Man, life just keeps kicking the shit out of you, doesn't it?" Robin asked.
"Out of all of us, but I feel like some good luck is being sent my way," Steve said, smiling.
"Eddie and Chrissy?" Robin grinned.
"Yeah, our first official date is in a couple of weeks," Steve said.
"Ooh, what are you going to wear?" Robin asked.
"Well, I was thinking Eddie's vest, Chrissy's cheerleading skirt, and nothing else," Steve said.
"Good choice," she said wisely while Vickie giggled at her feet.
"I do not want to be hearing this," Lucas groaned.
"So, if I asked you to put on a skirt, you wouldn't?" Max asked.
"Well, uh, I - " Lucas stuttered.
"Relax, stalker, I'm fucking with you," Max laughed and Lucas breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, there was screaming coming from the kitchen and the sound of metal kitchenware crashing. Eddie's laughter soon followed.
"I'm not even going to worry about it," Steve said, leaning against Robin.
A moment later, Eddie entered the living room and plopped down on the floor at Steve's feet, next to Vickie.
"I have been banned from the kitchen for life," Eddie said with a scoff. "Can you believe that?"
"Yes," Robin, Steve, and Max said.
"Whatever. Chrissy can stay forever, apparently. She reminds Dustin of his mother, and he's a huge mama's boy," Eddie said, rolling his eyes but smiling fondly.
Eddie had just taken off Steve’s shoe and began rubbing his feet when they heard the front door open. Nancy came in with Jeff, Frank, and Gareth. She was holding a notebook in her hand and beaming with pride.
"I finished it. The article," Nancy said.
"The article?" Eddie asked.
"On you and Hellfire," Nancy said.
"Oh, is that what all those questions were about yesterday?" Eddie asked.
"Yes," Nancy laughed, and she gave him the notebook.
"It's really fucking good, man," Jeff said as he plopped down on the floor and pulled Gareth against him.
Eddie's eyes scanned the page and he beamed with pride, kissing the paper.
"Oh, Wheeler! Marvelous! We should have this framed!" Eddie exclaimed.
"I still need to turn it in," Nancy said, laughing.
"Right," Eddie said, handing her back the notebook, and then his head snapped to look at Jeff. "When did this happen?"
"Oh, you know, it just happened," Gareth said, blushing.
"Cute," Eddie grinned, and Gareth scowled, flipping him off.
A few moments later, Chrissy came bounding into the living room with a smile on her face.
"The first batch of pizzas are in the oven," Chrissy announced.
Just as she said that, a knock on the door sounded. Steve watched as Eddie jumped up and began to count.
"We're all here, right?" Eddie asked. "I mean, besides Uncle Wayne and Matthew, they're both working."
Nancy was the one who went to answer the door, and everyone listened carefully as they heard the door open. Nancy let out a happy shriek. Suddenly, Nancy was pulling El, Will, and Jonathan into the living room. Behind them was a man with long hair. Steve assumed it was Argyle. As soon as El spotted Chrissy, she smiled and pulled her into a hug.
"Sister," El said.
"Sister," Chrissy grinned. "I'm glad we're finally meeting face to face."
"Me too. How are you?" El asked.
"Adjusting," Chrissy said. "Still not used to the fact that I have powers."
"I will help," El said.
"Thank you," Chrissy said softly.
Lucas had pulled himself off of Max long enough to hug Will and Mike tightly while Max moved to hug El. Dustin skidded into the living room, covered in flour.
"Will! Mike!" Dustin screeched and joined the group hug.
"Ugh, you're covered in flour. What have you been doing?" Will asked.
"Making pizzas," Dustin replied. "I have enough to make another one."
"Do you have pineapples?" Argyle asked.
"I think so," he said. "Pineapples on pizza?"
"Try it before you deny it," Argyle said. "It's okay, I'm a professional pizza maker. I'll show you how it's done, my little Hobbit friend," Argyle said.
"I like you already," Dustin said as they walked into the kitchen.
"Unbelievable, replacing me with another long-haired guy?" Eddie muttered. "Does he also smoke weed?"
"Actually -," Jonathan started to say, but Steve gave him a warning look, smirking.
"I would never put pineapples on pizza," Eddie muttered.
Steve knew he wasn't really jealous of Argyle, just still a little bitter about being kicked out of the kitchen. He smiled when Eddie slumped against his legs. Steve smiled and ran his hands through Eddie's hair. Will looked at him in surprise.
"Oh, Eddie's my boyfriend," Steve exclaimed.
"And mine," Chrissy giggled. "We're all dating."
"You can do that?" El asked.
"You can do whatever you want, sweetheart. . .well, within reason," Eddie grinned.
"Dustin's making pizzas, we're going to watch them while watching the Wizard of Oz," Chrissy said. "You should join us."
"I have not seen it," El admitted.
"Oh, you're going to love it," Vickie beamed.
"Alright, settle down there, Glinda," Robin said fondly as she ran her fingers through Vickie's hair.
Everyone got resettled in the living room as everyone made introductions that needed it. Just as the first batch of pizzas got done, someone knocked on the door.
"My turn! I'll get it," Eddie grinned.
He hopped up and bounced into the hallway. A moment later they heard him squawk loudly.
"Hey! Aren't you supposed to be dead?!"
A moment later, a figure appeared in the doorway. Steve didn't recognize him at first because he had lost a lot of weight and hair. He was also wearing a baseball cap. It was Hopper.
"Dad!" El sobbed.
She jumped up off the floor and threw herself into his arms. Joyce was watching fondly from the doorway. El cried heavily into his arms. Everyone let them have their moment, watching them in awe as father and daughter were reunited. El pulled away from to hug Joyce.
"I am glad you went to your conference," El said.
"How?" Will asked.
Hopper looked around the room with caution.
"Yes, everyone in the room has been through the recent shitstorm and has, in fact, been caught up," Eddie said, sitting back into his spot.
"I was held captive by the Russians for months," Hopper said.
Steve winced and rubbed his neck, remembering what they did to him and Robin. He couldn't imagine being with that for months. Jesus. There was a new respect for this man, a thousand times greater than the one before. How the fuck did he survive? As he watched El introduce Chrissy to Hopper and Joyce, he realized how he did it. He must really love them a lot to have helped get him through all that. There's nothing like the bond of family, and as he sat here surrounded by all these people, he realized they were his family. Home was anywhere, as long as you had the people you love by your side or in your heart. The same thought ran through his mind even two weeks later, as he sat at the picnic table with Eddie and Chrissy, having a picnic in the woods. There was no place like home.
And they lived happily ever after. . .

i know a couple of the players are new, but is there anything you’re hoping to see people play in Downfall, especially given that they’re divine figures?
I mentioned I'd love to see Laura play a paladin. I would LOVE to hear like...an interview with Laura about classes she likes and doesn't like honestly because I feel like she might be turned off by the typical paladin vibes but I think the mechanics would overwhelmingly play to her strengths perhaps even better than sorcerer does. (actually, I think sorcerer or bard paladin multiclass would work brilliantly for her).
Honestly for everyone else...it's really hard to say just because I don't know the parameters! I don't know how many of them will be playing stereotypically divine classes or not. We know champions of deities can be from classes that aren't paladins or clerics (Vex, Scanlan, Purvan) and that divinely-based subclasses exist (Path of the Zealot, Divine Soul, any warlock subclass that isn't explicitly another form of patron). While we're at it, we only know "divine figures"; we don't know whether this means they're champions or merely just affiliated with gods. I ran a game where someone was effectively playing a youth pastor, and the character was a bard who was just super into Pelor. I've always been a big proponent of "not everything important to a character must be tied into their class" so honestly anything goes. I will admit however to wanting a cleric/wizard multiclass. I always do and it would be really fitting here (blend into aeorian society as a wizard but secretly also be a cleric). Also I always want more rangers because no one ever plays them and the class no longer sucks.

Sherman Smith at Kansas Reflector:
TOPEKA — As the Kansas Legislature renewed its yearslong assault on transgender children, Sen. Mary Ware told her Senate colleagues Monday she had a “simple” question for them.
“What is the acceptable number of youth suicides?” Ware asked. The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a hotline for individuals in crisis or for those looking to help someone else. To speak with a certified listener, call 988. Crisis Text Line is a texting service for emotional crisis support. To speak with a trained listener, text HELLO to 741741. It is free, available 24/7, and confidential. Ware’s question set the tone for debate in the Senate, which voted 27-13 to override Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of Senate Bill 233, legislation that would ban gender-affirming care for anyone younger than 18. But the override attempt fell short in the House on an 82-43 vote, two short of the two-thirds majority required.
The bill would have blocked teenagers from receiving hormone therapy and other treatments recognized as necessary by medical professionals. And it would have banned state employees from supporting “social transitioning,” which is defined to include an individual changing their preferred pronouns or manner of dress. Rep. Susan Concannon, R-Beloit, and Rep. Jesse Borjon, R-Topeka, flipped their votes from earlier in the month to sustain the governor’s veto. Two other Republicans — Rep. Mark Schreiber of Emporia and Rep. David Younger of Ulysses — also joined Democrats in blocking the legislation from becoming law. “We hear about mental health, about suicide, and ask why,” Concannon said. “We’re not listening to the impact of youth. Government involvement is not the answer.” On the Senate side, Sen. John Doll, R-Garden City, and Sen. Carolyn McGinn, R-Sedgwick, joined the chamber’s 11 Democrats in supporting the veto.
Opponents of the bill pointed to extensive medical research that shows transgender children, who are already at an elevated risk for suicide, are more likely to die from suicide if they don’t receive gender-affirming care. “This bill ignores, or should I say tramples, on the rights of some Kansas citizens to live peaceably, lawfully and free to make their own decisions about their own bodies,” Ware said. Republicans argued the bill would protect children from life-altering decisions they could end up regretting.
[...] The House delayed taking action as Republican leadership tried to secure enough votes to override the governor’s veto. Before closing the roll call, Republicans locked the chamber doors and issued a procedural declaration that requires every member to cast a vote, rather than abstain. Borjon said he would support a ban on gender reassignment surgery and limits on the use of hormone blockers for minors. But for him, the bill went too far in restricting speech and behavioral health care for transgender youths. Rep. Tobias Schlingensiepen, a Topeka Democrat and pastor, said it was clear the “politically motivated bill” would make the lives of trans kids and their families more difficult.
Good news: Kansas's anti-trans gender-affirming care ban for trans youths will not take effect, as Gov. Laura Kelly (D)'s veto of SB233 has been sustained in the House. #KSLeg

So, in Brazilian LGBT+ right news, a Chamber of Deputies committee has approved a bill that prohibits same-gender marriage.
The bill, which was approved by 12 votes to 5 by the Social Security, Social Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence, and Family Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, includes same-sex people in the list of people who cannot marry. This list includes parents, children and siblings. The text will now go to the Human Rights Commission.
“It is not a relationship of selfishness between two, but of altruism in view of the perpetuation of the species. Hence the exclusive need, through marriage between a man and a woman”, argued the project rapporteur, deputy Pastor Eurico (Union party). He also defines same-gender marriage as a “purely ideological and unnatural objective”.
The project was originally presented in 2007 by former deputy Clodovil Hernandes, who died in 2009, and intended to change the Civil Code to recognize same-sex marriage. At the time, there was no guarantee that recognized union between LGBT+ people.
The proposal was then distorted and underwent changes by the rapporteur. The new report, the third, was presented on the same day as the vote, this Tuesday, the 10th. The movement generated a protest from left-wing parliamentarians, opposed to the project, who allege a breach of agreement.
“The agreement was to create a working group to talk to the rapporteur about his opinion. This group was not created. There is no time to discuss or amend the project”, said deputy Pastor Henrique Vieira (Socialism And Liberty Party). “It is fair if a (religious) celebrant decides what he wants or does not want to celebrate. We would accept it fine”, complained Laura Carneiro (Social Democracy Party). “We were hoping that what was previously agreed would be fulfilled. But we came out in the vote, we put it in obstruction”, added Daiana Santos (Communist Party of Brazil).
In 2011, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) unanimously recognized the LGBT+ union. Thus, although marriage between LGBT+ people is not guaranteed by law, the Supreme Court's decision guarantees that same-gender couples have the same rights and duties that Brazilian legislation already establishes for duaric couples.
Parties from the base of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government helped conservatives to approve the project opposing same-gender marriage. The Brazilian Democratic Movement, Brazilian Socialist Party, and Brazil Union gave seats to conservative parliamentarians to form a majority in the collegiate. The government had advised against it. Had they indicated progressive names, the 12x5 score in favor of the project could be reversed, as the left-wing parliamentarians wanted.

It´s been a long, long time
Chapter 61
We touched down on what appeared to be a remote farm, a tranquil oasis far removed from the chaos of our usual missions. Clint had assured us this was a safe house, but it looked more like the idyllic setting of a pastoral retreat. As we disembarked from the Quinjet, the air was filled with the gentle hum of chirping birds and the warmth of a clear, sunny day. The contrast between the serene surroundings and the weight of our recent events was striking. This place, with its picturesque landscape and charming façade, seemed ill-suited for a refuge for bruised and battered superheroes.
We approached the front door with a sense of cautious curiosity. Clint broke the silence, calling out, "Honey?"—a code word, I assumed, though it felt oddly domestic against the backdrop of our tense situation. The interior of the house mirrored the exterior’s warmth and homeliness. It was an inviting space, filled with personal touches and an undeniable sense of lived-in comfort.
A sweet-faced woman emerged from the kitchen, her expression shifting from surprise to warmth as she took in the sight of us. She held a stack of children’s drawings, their colorful chaos a stark contrast to the disciplined order of our lives. Her rounded belly hinted at the presence of another family member yet to join us.
"Hi," she greeted, her voice soft and welcoming, as Clint moved toward her. They exchanged a brief, affectionate kiss, a silent conversation in their embrace. "This is an agent of some kind," Tony remarked, his tone edged with curiosity and confusion. "Gentlemen, this is Laura," Clint introduced, his arm draped casually over her shoulder in a gesture of intimacy.
Laura’s smile was warm and genuine as she waved. "I know all of your names," she said with a light-hearted chuckle as if our superhero identities were part of her everyday life.
The sound of footsteps echoed from the hallway before two small figures burst into the room. The children raced toward Clint, their faces lit up with unrestrained joy as they leaped into his arms. The surprise on our faces was palpable; Clint had never mentioned having a family.
Tony’s voice cut through the surprise with a touch of sarcasm, "These must be the smaller agents." “Did you bring Auntie Nat?” The little girl’s voice was brimming with eager anticipation, her eyes wide with hope. Nat’s face brightened with a radiant smile as she stepped forward, her demeanor playful yet tender. “Why don’t you give her a hug and find out?” she replied with a teasing, almost daring tone.
The girl didn’t hesitate; she flung herself into Nat’s arms with unrestrained joy. The sight of Nat holding the child was profoundly moving. Her expression, a mixture of warmth and wistfulness, seemed to convey a depth of feeling that resonated deeply with me. Given what Nat had shared about her struggles with infertility, witnessing this moment of connection was both heartwarming and poignant.
“Sorry for barging in on you,” Steve said, his tone sincere as he glanced around the cozy living room. Tony chimed in, his voice tinged with a mix of apology and humor, "Yeah, we would have called ahead, but we were busy having no idea that you existed".
Clint, with his arms comfortably draped around his wife and son, offered a reassuring smile. "Yeah, well Fury helped me set this up when I joined. He kept it off S.H.I.E.L.Ds files, I would like to keep it that way. I figure it's a good place to lay low." His explanation was casual, yet it carried an undercurrent of seriousness, revealing the importance of this hidden sanctuary in their lives.
The idyllic family scene stirred something deep within me, a bittersweet pang of longing. It was a vision of the life I had once imagined for myself—simple, serene, and filled with love. Facing the stark reality that this dream would forever remain out of reach was a painful truth, one that cut deeper than I was willing to admit. Overwhelmed, I stepped outside for a breath of fresh air, resting my weight against the cool railing of the porch.
As I tried to gather my thoughts, Thor, his face etched with tension, strode past me, his brow furrowed in determination. Steve followed closely behind, a look of concern on his face. Thor’s voice, laden with frustration, echoed in the crisp air. “I need answers. I won’t find them here,” he declared, before vanishing into the clouds above with a flash of impatience.
Steve’s gaze shifted to me, his worry evident as he took in my pale complexion. “Are you okay? You look pale,” he said, his voice filled with genuine concern. I hadn’t shared with him the turmoil I was feeling, but seeing Laura and her family had unearthed a well of guilt I could no longer suppress. The weight of it had multiplied tenfold, consuming my thoughts and leaving me unable to push it aside any longer.
I let out a weary sigh as he laced his fingers with mine, feeling an unexpected calm wash over me from the simple touch. There was something about the way his hand enveloped mine that brought a sense of peace I couldn’t quite explain. “The things that witch showed me... I can’t escape them. They keep replaying in my mind, and it’s tearing me apart,” I confessed, my gaze fixed intently on our intertwined hands.
Laura appeared in the doorway, her face illuminated by a warm, welcoming smile. “You guys can head upstairs; your room is ready. Just make yourselves at home,” she said cheerfully.
We expressed our gratitude to Laura and ascended the staircase, our hands entwined, finding solace in each other's touch. Once we reached the room, we gently closed the door behind us, sealing out the outside world. The room was a serene retreat, adorned in calming shades of blue. A king-sized bed, draped in rich teal bedding, dominated the space, while a white vanity stood poised against the wall opposite the bed. The room exuded a tranquil charm, with its soothing color palette and soft lighting. A small, neat bathroom, featuring a clean, modern shower, was tucked discreetly off to one side.
Steve placed his shield carefully in a corner, its metallic sheen catching the light momentarily before he removed his suit and boots. With a heavy sigh, he sank onto the edge of the bed, his posture reflecting the weariness of the day.
I moved toward the bathroom, feeling the need to wash away the day’s weariness. As I stepped inside, the cool splash of water against my face offered a momentary reprieve. I noticed Steve standing in the doorway, his expression a mixture of concern and empathy as he watched me.
“You can talk to me,” he said, his voice steady as he crossed his arms. The tight fabric of his shirt highlighted the defined contours of his broad chest and muscular arms, making his presence both reassuring and imposing. I gazed at my reflection in the mirror, the weight of countless unspoken words pressing down on me. I struggled to find where to begin.
Turning toward him, I leaned against the sink, feeling its cool surface beneath my hands. “She showed me something,” I began, my voice trembling. “She showed me you... you died in my arms. You looked at me... my hands were covered in your blood...” I faltered, the vivid memory choking my words.
Without a word, he gently guided me to the edge of the bed, his touch both firm and reassuring. As I sank down, the room seemed to contract around us, the weight of our shared pain pressing heavily in the confined space. "You died because I killed you, Steve," I confessed, my voice faltering, the words catching in my throat. His fingers began a soothing, rhythmic motion across my back, offering a silent comfort.
"You would never do such a thing," Steve's voice rumbled softly, filled with conviction and warmth. Yet, the depth of my anguish seemed to defy his words. "It’s not just that," I continued, my voice trembling as tears began to well in my eyes. "She showed me... I was pregnant. But there was so much blood... and I lost it." The tears finally spilled over, tracing silent paths down my cheeks as I struggled to contain the storm of emotion within me.
His expression darkened as the weight of my words settled over him, the memory of discovering my pregnancy before clearly haunting him. I could see the pain etched in his features, mirroring my own turmoil. As I began to speak, the floodgates opened, and the words tumbled out in a raw, unfiltered stream.
"I want it, Steve. I want this," I said, my voice breaking. I gestured helplessly around us. "I want a family, a simple, ordinary life. I couldn't admit it before because the pain was too overwhelming." Tears streamed down my face, each one a testament to the heartache I had buried.
"The loss of my baby... it hurts so much. If I had fully faced it, I'd have had to confront the truth that all I ever wanted was a family."
The realization of what I had lost seemed to engulf me, the depth of my longing and sorrow blending into a profound sense of grief and yearning. The unspoken truth about the family I could have had with Bucky lingered heavily in the air between us.
A sense of regret gnawed at me—perhaps I shouldn't have revealed so much. But as I reflected on it, I realized I was already burdened by too many secrets. The weight of honesty seemed both a relief and a burden, casting a shadow over the fragile moment we shared.
“We can still have it,” he whispered, his gaze locking onto mine with a mixture of hope and sorrow. He gently cradled my hands in his, turning his whole body to face me. “We can have a family when all of this is over,” he continued, his voice imbued with a tender determination. “We can buy a house, just like this one. We can get married, have children...” His smile, though tinged with sadness, was bright with the promise of a future we could still dream of. As he spoke, he painted a vivid picture of a life beyond the chaos, filling the space between us with a hopeful vision of what could be.
The vision he painted sounded like the perfect life. I could almost see myself standing on a porch, watching our children play with Steve, their laughter echoing in the air. The image brought a sense of calm to my restless mind, offering a fleeting moment of peace. Yet, despite the soothing picture, it felt strangely distant, as if I were peering into someone else’s life rather than my own.

Let's talk about Chrissy and her relationship with her dad. We always talk about things with her mom, but what does she feel about her dad? Who is he to her beyond a father? Does he care? Does SHE care? Tell us about them.
oooooh , this is such a good one ! my headcanon of laura cunningham is that she has a bit of a spending problem , an attempt to keep up the latest trends in sears catalogs. so it puts a lot of pressure to philip to pick up extra hours at his job. i headcanon that philip works a 9-5 office job , but i'm not sure what exactly. probably insurance, yeah i think that sounds right ? philip and laura met in high school , he came from the cunningham family which they weren't exactly super well off but pretty known in hawkins as a generational thing ( i don't know if im making sense ) ? and then you have laura , who was a pastor's daughter and from a decently affluent family. i don't know if it was necessarily ever love from laura's part , with philip being on the football team and her being considered " popular " herself ? for philip , i think he did genuinely love laura , at least at first. but they married pretty young , basically right out of high school and things weren't always as good as they seemed? laura put a lot of pressure on him for the perfect american dream , and it was a lot of pressure for him to live up to. i don't think chrissy was necessarily planned? but she worked for a little while as a " band-aid " to fix their marriage. and i think for a little while , it did help. at least until laura began not only putting pressure on philip , but chrissy as well. growing up, philip was chrissy's world ! she viewed him as an amazing father , who worked all the time to provide the life that she had. because despite her mother , chrissy does recognize her life was privileged. but i think a lot of her view changed as she grew up and began to see philip for what he was. a lot of his " late hours " ? spent more often with his secretary than his family. he was quiet , ignored / overlooked the abuse that laura cunningham inflicted on their daughter. he never spoke up about it , never protected chrissy from her. he was more content with pretending his home life was fine. if he wasn't working " late hours " , philip was often just found in his recliner in the living room , with a drink in hand. it's where he would pass out. it wouldn't be out of the norm for chrissy to have to wake him up in the morning , to remind him to get ready for work if her mother hadn't already with her shrill screaming. there is clearly no love between philip and laura cunningham , though from an outsiders view it might seem that they're the happiest couple in hawkins ! i think he does love his children , in a weird arms length away type of love. but philip is so miserable in his life , he sees his children as part of the issue ? it's never the life he wanted , at least looking back at things. he was forced to settle down , he was forced into this role because of laura and it's made him miserable. if he didn't have to worry about taking care of them or breaking up their home , he could live the life he wanted. so in a way, he might view chrissy as something of a burden , even if he would never admit it ? so , there is love for his children , but there's also disdain for them as well. it should be more pointed at his wife , but it would be so easy to leave her if it wasn't for the children.
chrissy's views on philip are complicated to say the least. she loves her dad , but knows her dad is an active participant in her abuse. even if her abuse comes from her mother , her father does nothing to stop it. he is either never home to do so , or simply is too far in his drink / pretends it doesn't happen. he'll always be her father , so there will always be that connection there. and i think part of her will always search for the dad she remembers as a younger child, the man who hung the moon and stars ? but she knows now that she's older and sees him for who he really is, that man doesn't exist? veering a little off topic , and more so to our portrayals / headcanons : but i think the more she learns about uncle wayne , the more she realizes what a real father should be like ? the way she sees the care he has for eddie , it makes her long for those days of when she was younger and her father would never miss a ballet recital? it's why he starts to mean so much to her as a father figure.

A revival event at the University of Georgia (UGA) April 3 led to baptisms in pickup truck beds in the parking lot after students made professions of faith.
Unite Georgia, a night of prayer, worship and teaching in UGA’s Stegeman Coliseum, drew about 7,000 college students to hear author and speaker Jennie Allen and pastor Jonathan Pokluda and worship with Circuit Rider Music.
An estimated 150 students were baptized in pickup truck beds in front of a fraternity house after the event, according to The Christian Post.
FOX News host Laura Ingraham interviewed Nate Kearns, a student who was baptized at...
