Every time I think about Shinichi's and Kaito's parents doing the bare minimum effort to protect their kids I get mad. Like they're both like "u should stop", their kids say "no", and they're like "okay, bye✈️✈️".

Like tf is this????? They kidnap him to make understand how dangerous his situation is but then they do nothing? And they just go away???

They leave their kid behind who is currently in the body of a 6-7 year old alone to deal with a criminal organization? They say they're going to step in if it gets too dangerous but he has almost died many times after that and they weren't there...

Toichi challenges him pretending to be someone else to get Kaito to quit but then just leaves him alone and goes back to Las Vegas with Chikage?

Chikage doesn't sit to talk to him seriously about quitting just suggests him to quit and prepare for his career as a magician in Las Vegas, but that's it.

Your kid that it's being shot at at some of his heists? Who's putting his life at risk and is only 17 years old?

Like I know for the plot is made like this but it doesn't make it any less infuriating 🫠🫠

After what happened in episode 5, Amanda Waller puts Metropolis in martial law and has sent out the HDC, the Human Defense Corps. her military personnel roaming around and harassing innocent civilians.

The HDC makes its first appearance in Human Defense Corps, in its own limited series back in 2003 where they were a military unit that fights back against extraterrestrial forces [Cover art by Clement Sauve, Juan Viasco, Guy Major]. They have been folded into the US military to help fight back against New Krypton in Superman: War of the Supermen #3 (2010).

Also if you want to see what crazy shit Amanda Waller is doing in the comic book universe give Absolute Power #1 (2024) a read and you will see how ruthless she can get. Out on July 3rd. And just look at that amazing cover art by Dan Mora too and he'll be doing the interior art too with the fantastic Mark Waid as the writer! Also give their World's Finest series a shot too!

The episode's title is a reference to Ocean's Eleven. Ocean's Eleven is a 1960s heist movie about Danny Ocean, who he and 10 other associates of his team up together to rob several Las Vegas casinos. I first watched this movie when it was remade in 2001 starring former Batman, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon and have watched the later 2 sequels and the Oceans 8 spinoff starring Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, Danny's sister. Fun movies if you haven't seen them.

Later in the episode, Lois plans on stealing the Jump Drive Ship from S.T.A.R. Labs and the design of it kinda reminds me of...

the space ship that brought Superman to Earth from Superman the Animated series. Also a good Superman cartoon if you need your Superman fix when waiting for new MAwS episodes!

Lois and Jimmy head to Leslie and Rory's place to hire them to break into S.T.A.R. Labs to steal the ship. I talked more about them in here and here respectively. Nice to see the both of them as a couple during the final day of Pride Month! #LoveIsNotForCowards

And speaking of queer couples, when later in the scene Rory decided to "leave the mission" Jimmy brings along Mallah and the Brain to help steal the ship as well! I talked a bit about them here and here.

Mallah and the Brain recount to everyone their multiversal hopping and I talked about the DC multiverse here and Mallah finally gets his beret to match his comic counterpart and the Brain looks just like a Dalek from Doctor Who.

Not surprised that the MAwS crew are Doctor Who fans.

As Leslie details out a plan for them to steal the ship, we see that one of her sources has told her that the guard has a family member at Silver Age Nursing Home.

So for those not in the know, comic book history is divided up into eras. From 1938 (Superman's first appearance in Action Comics #1) to 1956 is considered the Golden Age, the Silver Age was from 1956 to 1970, the Bronze Age was from 1970 to 1985, and the Modern Age was from 1985 to now.

Specifically, Silver Age of Comics was from 1956 to 1970. It began thanks to the success of the reintroduction of the then newest Flash, Barry Allen who debuted in Showcase #4 (1956). This era of comics is much more focused on science fiction and thanks to that a lot of powers and origins of superheroes now have a science/science fiction element to it for example the then new Green Lantern, Hal Jordan received his Green Lantern ring from a dying extraterrestrial, Abin Sir and Ray Palmer a.k.a the second Atom gains his powers from a white dwarf star matter. This was also the era where the Justice Society of America from the Golden Age was reimagined to the Justice League of America.

When Lex gets a surprise visit from Waller and Slade, he decides to show them Project M and explains what it is and shows off its capabilities when they go hunting Lois, Jimmy, Mallah, and the Brain. and based on what Lex says and the subtle design of the Project M robots, we can assume M is for Metallo like what AmerTek and Thomas Weston was developing in episode 3. I’m an OG Dropout fan (made an account the first day it dropped) and I remain a big fan to this day. But one thing that’s always bothered me is their stark lack of disability representation.

In all of d20 so far I can only think of a few PCs who are (Jan De La Vega from ASO, Zee from TUC2, Lydia Barkrock from FH, and Mira from Neverafter). I think they’ve done a pretty good job of having people at the table who are neurodivergent/have mental health issues (ADHD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety) so the representation comes from an authentic place. But to my knowledge, there has yet to be a single player at any D20 table who has a physical disability.

Dropout seems to pride themselves on being inclusive. They’re a company who hires talent from a diverse array of backgrounds, because they understand why that’s so important. Especially because cishet white folks have been the face of Nerd/Geek/Fandom spaces for much of history, despite often not being the pioneers.

I’m someone with Cerebral Palsy who is desperate for any representation in media, let alone a thoughtful/nuanced portrayal.

Don’t get me wrong, Dropout is leagues ahead of other media companies in how much it uplifts diverse voices. But there is still plenty of room for improvement. It’s disappointing to see how little thought Dropout has put into giving people with disabilities a much-needed platform, when their brand is one of inclusivity.

In October 2-23, a Las Vegas police officer was convicted of robbing three casinos has been ordered to serve 12 years behind bars.

Caleb Rogers received his prison term during a sentencing hearing before U.S. District Judge Andrew Gordon in a Las Vegas federal courtroom. He will also have to serve three years of probation once his sentence is over and will have to pay more than $85,000 in restitution.

Prosecutors were seeking about 20 years in prison, while Rogers' attorney asked for leniency, citing his career as a law enforcement officer.

"While many of his peers chose career paths and lifestyles that served only themselves, [Rogers] opted for service in one of the most dangerous professions dedicated to protecting our society," his attorney Richard Pocker wrote in a sentencing memo submitted to the court prior to Tuesday's hearing.

A federal jury convicted Rogers earlier on all counts of stealing nearly $165,000 during a trio of casino heists, including one where he was armed with a department-issued weapon that was loaded.

According to the arrest report, a man ran to the employee side of the sportsbook counter at the Rio last year and pushed one worker to the ground.

He threatened to shoot two employees as he grabbed cash from the drawer and placed it into a bag, the report states. As he was doing this, an employee pulled robbery alarms to alert security, causing the man to jump over the counter and run away. Security officers chased after the man as he ran outside the west doors, and one officer managed to tackle him in the driveway near the parking garage.

Investigators checked the serial number on the gun recovered at the scene. They learned it belonged to LVMPD and was checked out to Rogers.

Prosecutors identified Rogers as a suspect in two other robberies reported at Aliante and Red Rock Casino. Rogers' brother, Josiah Rogers, testified at trial saying the two of them rehearsed one of the robberies.

FOR CONTEXT!!

I specifically used the term "Bisexual Menace" for one of The Mechanic's perks as a reference to Fallout New Vegas!! In that game, you can choose to have both sexuality perks at the same time [Black Widow/Cherchez La Femme for female couriers and Lady Killer/Confirmed Bachelor for male couriers], and because both options have their individual +5% damage to their respective gender, bisexual couriers canonically do +10% to everyone [which has always been hilarious, especially to me as a bisexual]!!

However, all folks can enjoy this!! Not just bisexuals lol the perk was just for the silly reference to Fallout New Vegas!!

How do you turn a outline into chapters? Like how many chapters does a part of an outline turn into?

Turning an Outline Into Chapters

There's no method or template for how an outline translates into chapters. Instead, it's about breaking down the story into its natural parts.

Stories can be broken down into scenes. A scene is a mini-story that revolves around an important plot point in your story, or in other words a moment in your story that affects a main character's, their path, or the direction of the story. This moment could be:

-- a particular course of action taken by a main character -- an important conversation involving a main character -- an important event involving a main character -- a series of small related moments occurring in the same short period of time, the same place, involving the same character/s, revolving around a particular subject or theme, or from a particular character's POV.

Most scenes are (sometimes loosely) structured similarly to a story, having a small bit of introduction, an inciting incident, rising action, a dilemma, a climax, and a denouement. Like story in general, scenes should have a balance of exposition (explaining things), action (things happening), and dialogue (conversation).

Scenes end when the mini-story the scene is telling ends. Typically, this ending will also naturally shift toward a new plot point that takes place in a different time and/or different place, potentially with different characters.

Go through your summary and find the plot points and moments around which you can build your scenes, and divide them out into their scenes.

Chapters can be a single scene or a group of related scenes. If you have several scenes that take place during a similar time period (in the weeks before and during Halloween, for example), in a similar setting (the characters have traveled to Las Vegas for the week), or involving the same plot point (a heist that plays out over three scenes), these can be grouped together into one chapter. Typically, chapters are made up of one to three scenes.

Once you have your outline broken down into scenes, you can group the scenes into chapters.

When Danny, after being out of prison, asked Rusty to join him at a Grand Coup of heist—Rusty had only agreed halfway to it. After all, he wanted to know for what exactly they would rob and risking their lives and freedom for.

Especially freedom, because Rusty sure as hell—damned he will be—didn't want to get caught and being send, like Danny, into prison. He simply couldn't afford such ending.

And when Danny told him, they gonna rob—not only one but three—Casinos in good old Viva Las Vegas, Rusty wanted to know a even far more good enough reason for him to join in such madness.

And Danny, like the best friend and charming asshole he is, told Rusty the only valid reason he needs to have;

»If we pull this off and I promise you, we will. You can finally pay the devils debt and free [Name], moving to wherever your heart desires and afford the safety you have promised him.«

Danny was right, hitting a wound point in Rusty's ego, because there had been one thing Rusty—in all those years—couldn't do and that was giving you proper protection. Protecting you from a past, you would never be able to free yourself from it, if you didn't have a certain amount of money for it.

»Okay, I'm in. But if we fail, I'm gonna send you personally to hell, Danny boy.«

Rusty might have agreed, trusting and believing in his friend that they will manage this with a 100 percentage chance of successful winning—but he also knew what price it would cost him, because if they indeed fail. It would be you, who Rusty would lose and you're more worth to him than all the money and jewels in the world.

So far, the whole plan went, besides minor improvements, smoothly good.

Rusty could almost imagine the millions of Dollar he would have soon. Enough money to buy you free and finally live with you in peace.

Just you and him, thought Rusty, imagining the new chapter of life—fully secure, comfortable and happy healthy—he would have with you and maybe a big family with lots of cats and dogs.

„Uh, uhm, Rusty there's–“ „Rusty, there's a problem. A you problem.“

»What?« asked Rusty through the mini microphone, scrunching up his face in confusion—forgetting his cup of jello momentarily. Another problem? What do they mean with "you"-problem?

„Look towards the entrance. You might need to prepare for a divorce too.“

»Fuck. Give me some extra minutes to sort this out.«

»Robert Russel James Ryan! You do not leave our house in such fucking manners. How fucking dare you! Do you know how fucking worried I was?!«

A few people had turned their heads, starting to gossip already, when you marched forward to Rusty and shouted in anger at him.

Ouch, shouting his full name—you're furious, a deadly threat of trait of yours, with him and it was Rusty's own fault.

Rusty took a few steps forward, discarding his cup of jello and raising both of his hands in surrender—wanting to appease you.

Honestly, he haven't seen you this angry, ever since Danny and he had a fistfight with your "Boss"—which they of course had lost, as they couldn't win against a knife and knuckleheads—and you were so upset with them, that you cussed them out so much—they were taken aback by it, spook them just a little—while you treated their wounds.

So yes, Rusty—and as well Danny—knew your kind of anger very well.

»Hey, love, watcha doing here?« Rusty was curious how you got here—as you should be in sunny California, safe and sound in the apartment.

»Don't come with such bullshit. You know perfectly well, why the fuck I'm here. So tell me now, Robert, the fuck are you and Danny—and I know the fucker is here as well—suspiciously planning to do here?!« you had raised your finger, pointing threatening at him.

Rusty inhaled and exhaled deeply through his nose, trying to think of ways to get you away from here—before you either might could get harmed by accident, being caught in the metaphorically crossfire or causing a disturbance to their plan.

Though, perhaps, he could use you for a good distraction, but no—no, no, he had sworn himself to not do such things with you.

Gripping your arms gently, Rusty pulls you close to his side and leads you away to a more secluded area of waiting.

Rusty brought you a glass of cold Cola, which you begrudgingly took from your husband. Taking a few sips from it, you gave Rusty a pointed look—almost a frown or angry glare—awaiting an explanation from him.

Waking up to an empty bedside wasn't what had spooked you into a worry—it was the discovery that your husband was nowhere in the apartment and that he couldn't be called and neither Danny.

It might didn't seem like big problem for most people, but for you it was—considering your past and what happened to Rusty and Danny back then.

Your mind raced with unpleasant thoughts and memories. Every possibility of what if's run through, flooding you with anxiety.
