LARRY & LEMMY -- HERE MARKS THE DAWN OF THE MOTÖRMASTERS MK 1.

PIC INFO: Spotlight on late, greats Lemmy Kilmister (1945-2015) & Larry Wallis (1949-2019) of English rock and roll band MOTÖRHEAD Mk 1, c. late '75/early '76.

"Friends, fans and record executives started to wonder if it might take more than matching bullet belts and chemical velocity to get this prototype MOTÖRHEAD off the runway and airborne on its avowed mission. A debut show at Hammersmith Odeon, opening for BLUE ÖYSTER CULT -- too early and without a net -- stumbled beyond the failsafe point and MOTÖRHEAD Mk 1 crashed and burned in a flakstorm of bad press and even worse disappointment. Damage control became the order of the day."

"Shake and Pop" de Nick Lowe, otro tema que podría pertenecer - de hecho pertenece- a la cadena de canciones mencionada en los dos posts anteriores. Salió originalmente en "Jesus of Cool" primer álbum de Lowe en UK - Radar, marzo de 1978, curiosamente el mismo mes y año que "This Year´s Model", el LP de Elvis Costello que incluía "Pump It Up"- pero no en la versión USA del LP, titulada "Pure Pop For Now People".

En las imágenes la interpretan ambos en directo en una gira Stiff inicial, junto a Larry Wallis, Pete Thomas y parte de The Rumour.

Lowe fue productor de Costello, son buenos amigos hasta hoy día y ambos han versionado al otro. En el recuerdo la gran versión costelliana de "What´s So Funny About Peace, Love & Understanding" y la versión de Lowe de "Indoor Fireworks" del LP "King of America" que hoy sale a la venta reeditado y ampliado en una bonita caja de 6 CDs.

"...In theory, it seemed like a good idea, Lemmy fresh out of HAWKWIND, Larry Wallis battered but unboxed from the "Kings of Oblivion" PINK FAIRIES, plus Lucas Fox, an up and coming young drummer around Ladbroke Grove. At first the band was going to be called BASTARD, but then it mutated to MOTÖRHEAD. The theory began to sound even better. Both Lemmy and Larry came to the new project with a bashful of original compositions -- "Motorhead," "Lost Johnny," "On Parole," "Iron Horse/Born to Lose." Dave Edmunds was up to produce and everything seemed set fair for fame and fortune. Pre-dating the rumblings of punk, the original MOTÖRHEAD concept was to juice the tempo, raise the thrash count and generally shake some action into a metal sector that was becoming ponderous and close to invertebrate."
