thinking about how loki needed to rush out towards the gangway like that and shut the door on sylvie and mobius before saying his goodbye.

mobius wouldn't have let him go. he would have grabbed onto him like he always did – the way he always held onto loki for as long as he could, longer than anyone else would.

and he wouldn't have let loki go.

and in their final scene in the interrogation room we saw loki literally holding mobius' hand until the man dissolved in front of him.

loki wouldn't have let go either. that's why he needed to run out like that and shut the door on him. that's why he couldn't give him more of a goodbye. neither of them would have been able to let go.

i also think this is the same reason loki chooses not to freeze time in that final moment with his friends for a longer last look (because we know he's learned how to freeze time).

but he knows he may never unfreeze it if he does. and he has to do this before he can change his mind.

the one time he most wants to be selfish. and he can't.

The fact that Loki parallels his Avengers-level meltdown to Mobius losing his temper ONCE is insane.

Loki sat there, ate neon pie, and thought the best way to cheer Mobius up was to remind him of his literal war crimes. AND IT WORKED.

Mobius really saw ‘held New York hostage with aliens’ and thought, ‘What a catch.’

Loki tried to relate to Mobius by dropping the most batshit insane story possible. Like, ‘You lost your temper? I get it babe I commited intergalactic terrorism because I was mad We’re the same.’ And Mobius is like, ‘Haha, you’re so cute and silly when youre mad :333’

Loki was literally like ‘haha ive done worse when I was mad’ and mobius just short circuits like ‘aaha hes so dramatic I love him’ HUSBAND BEHAVIOUR

And its the way Loki delivered that story so sincerely, like it was a heartfelt confession, and Mobius just giggled softly. Not even nervous laughter, this man was genuinely delighted. Like, ‘aww my emotionally unstable god boyfriend is opening up ^_^’

Mobius is so whipped

I do need to point out how tender this scene actually is, though. Loki, whose always been labeled as a monster for his emotions, is sitting there telling Mobius its okay to lose control sometimes. And Mobius just laughs and accepts it. They really see each other.

Headcanons for Loki (and Lokius)

Loki likes to read magazines after he read Mobius's jetski magazines

Mobius would rant about jetski and rank them while Loki just listens to him

Loki likes tea and wine, he doesn't like whiskey sometimes he will drink mead when he is with thor or Sylvie  

Mobius finds out about Loki's sexuality being genderfluid but accidentally calls Loki a “she” to which Loki just shrugs it and “I prefer it that way” so mobius often does call Loki a “she” from time to time Mobius showed loki how to use a phone and listen to music Loki loves Lana del rey and melanie martinez

Loki plays silly pranks on mobius but mobius started to catch on but played along cause mobius loved seeing Loki giggle and be toddler after pranking him

Loki can't cook but he learns  how to bake so he bake key lime pie for mobius 

Both Loki and mobius comfort eachother, it was harder for Loki to accept comfort from mobius but he does start to accept it

so what if my husband is a tree now. what then. (More headcanonical things Id like to imagine mobius doing to cope)

sometimes he just leans against a tree and goes “oh yeah that’s the good stuff”

he’s taken up whittling. “just something to keep my hands busy.” he makes a little wooden loki figure. stares at it for way too long.

he wont let anyone throw out TVA paperwork anymore because “technically, this might be him.” OB gently explains that’s not how paper works. mobius does not listen.

he got a bonsai tree for his desk. calls it “little lokes.” waters it every day. talks to it. “you wouldn’t believe what they had me doing today.”

Sometimes he just… trails his fingers along the wood paneling at the TVA. deep, mournful sigh. “y’know… he used to talk back.

He’s started referring to TVA’s timeline monitoring as “tree husband maintenance.” A branched timeline pops up? “Oop, gotta go check on the old man. He’s acting up.” The timeline is not Loki. But also? Maybe it is.

He won’t let anyone sit on wooden benches anymore. “Show some respect.”

He goes to a new timeline and sees a really big, ancient tree? Hands on hips, approving nod, deep exhale. “Yep. He’d like this one.

Sometimes, just sometimes, when he’s sitting alone, a breeze comes through, rustling the leaves. And for just a moment, just a moment, he swears he hears:

“Mobius.”

And he just smiles.
