Danny is the Crazy Old Man™️ of Gotham

So, the events of Danny Phantom happened decades ago

Like, Phantom Planet was one of the first instances of Superheroes in HISTORY. Early 1900's, just the Fentons were Insanely Ahead of their Time!

Danny is still a Halfa, but has allowed himself to grow old and live his best life before fully dying so he can accept his Throne in the Infinite Realms. He decides to experience Life in the fullest way possible, partying, drinking, making long lasting friendships that shape the lives of everybody he meets, all that!

Eventually, Danny's Party Life leads him to Gotham. And this place is just amazing!

It has all the comforts of Home, with so much more! He can Party! He can Fight! He can do anything he wants and nobody bats an eye, because a crazy old man getting into a fistfight in the middle of the road is just another Tuesday for Gotham!

He decides to spend the rest of his Mortal Life there. And this is still Early On in the DC Timeline, like, Batman Year 1 is happening Right Now.

He hangs around, befriends the local Homeless Population, and mostly just has the time of his Life! And he takes up the stereotypical Homeless Old Man look because why fight it? That's literally what he's going for!

He also unintentionally sets up a bunch of future events

He teaches Kid!Jason on his to steal Tires as repayment for driving off some muggers with a Baseball Bat (honestly he was looking forward to being mugged, it's a new experience after all)

He pulls Kid!Tim into an Alley after Tim gets caught out at night and gets chased by some Punks. He hides Tim behind a Dumpster and tricks the Punks into mugging him instead (Yay! He finally got mugged!)

He becomes kind of well known as the Old Man who wants to experience everything before he dies. He says as much too, not like he really has a reason to hide it. He just tells people "I want to live my life to the fullest, it don't matter if I live 10 more years or 10 more minutes, I'm gonna experience every second of it!"

He once walked into a Cloud of Fear Gas to see what it was like. Later he said it was a 6/10. "Not the worst thing I've had injected into my body!" He says with no Context.

He traded places with a Hostage during an active Crime Scene because he wanted to know what it's like.

He was once dared to take Batmans Utility Belt by another Homeless Guy as a joke, so he walked up to Batman later that night in full view of everybody else and just asked for his Belt. He gives up after a few minutes, and one guy asked "Why not fight him for it? It's an experience after all.". Danny replys "Nah, I've fought Vigilantes before. It was fun though, gotta say!"

This got away from me, but all this to say: Imagine the Bat Families Reaction when they find out "Crazy Old Danny" is PHANTOM. You know, THE FIRST SUPERHERO!

I imagine Constantine is having a stroll though Gotham after finishing up some business with Bruce, and just bumps into a homeless guy by accident.

Later that night:

Context: S and June Brunette's juiciest appearance in that very exposed spot of the VIP area coincided with Mansour Bahrami's match. S came first, at around 03: 04:49.

Two other people who were seated on those seats before his arrival get up and leave (perhaps prompted? perhaps uninterested in Bahrami? we can only speculate) - all this perhaps about 20 to 30 seconds before S arrives, alone:

My candid question is.. who is Light Green Arrow Woman? This is the first time I see her clearly in those screenshots I (one more time, for the people in the back) have been sent by a trusted friend. Could she be a chaperone of sorts? I am told that on the video edit Marple made a modo suo, she seems to be interacting with Mrs. Panikian, but I would have to see that:

I've been thinking about the pacing this season, and I think a lot of the issues with telling instead of showing we've been noticing come down to two big factors.

ALL the episodes this season are sticking very strictly to 30 minutes or less. Most of s1 did that, too, to be fair, but some of the most important episodes - 4, 8, and 10 - are all closer to 35 minutes. It doesn't sound like a lot but that's extra breathing room that we're not getting now, it means some things that were almost important enough to make the cut had to get chopped. We're probably missing a lot of little lines that would've rounded things out because the writers had to bank on us getting it from context.

I wouldn't be surprised if the writers went in expecting a 10 episode second season and Max hit them with cutting down to 8 eps, or they had to make the hard choice to save as much money as possible to increse the odds of getting renewed and decided to cut it to 8 themselves. Either way, I definitely think they'd planned on 10 episodes and because of that some things feel rushed; it's really starting to show in ep 7 and I think that's because they just haven't had the space to set things up they thought they'd get.

I really think that we're missing an episode here, and I'm pretty sure it would've gone between 5 and 6. That would've been the logical place to let Ed and Stede's relationship breathe a bit between their second kiss and having sex in 6, and it would've been the right spot to wrap up some lose plotlines (when did Ed get off probation? How does he feel about it? The crew seem so much more comfortable with him in 6, does that make him feel safer and more loved?) and forshadow what's coming up (literally just one line with Olu feeling bad about what happened with Zheng Yi Sao would've made that so much less jarring).

On the whole, I genuinely think the writing this season has been smart and efficient, but not to the same standard as season 1 (which, to be fair, was a very high standard, but still). And I really think the things that matter (Ed and Stede's arcs) are largely done very well.

But it has still been so obvious that they tried to make this season as cheap and palatable for Max to produce as possible. I really hope it pays off. I think it will - like I said, I think the writers always managed to keep sight of what matters, and that's Ed and Stede's story. And I'm grateful that, despite trying to make this show an easy one for Max to make the decision to renew, they didn't compromise on the queerness.

But it stings. You know any other show that's so successful and has not only such a devoted fanbase but such a deeply invested cast and crew would've been renewed a long damn time ago. I am so, so happy we got s2, and I've loved it, really I have, but I'm still a bit sad thinking about what we could've had.

Hazbin Hotel 4 episode premiere review Part 1

Okay first of all right off the bat cause its the freshest thing in my mind: I need everyone who accused Vivienne Medrano and her creative team of romanticizing and sexualizing SA and abuse to APOLOGIZE.

I actually saw someone say Viv has a rape fetish in response to a 10 second out of context leaked clip of Angel Dust in his Poison scene a few days ago on here (who I instantly blocked no question but thats not the point)

In response, Viv told everyone giving her shit on Twitter and Threads to at least watch the entire episode first before jumping to conclusions, and how there are many people on her team who are survivors of abuse.

Episode 4 "Masquerade" is intense. It does not hold back depicting Angel's situation with Valentino. At no point was it ever a secret that Angel was being abused by Valentino. It was depicted in the prequel comic, it was depicted in the Addict AMV, it was depicted here. And you know what? At literally no point is it romanticized. The entire episode is dedicated to explaining why Angel is the way he is. Angel's "Idgaf" personality, him constantly sexualizing himself and others and making sex jokes is all a coping mechanism. All of that was clearly displayed in episode 4.

Angel is not just some silly jaja caricature of gay men and he is not a romanticized abuse victim. Valentino was gripping Angel by the throat and Angel was pleading for Val to leave Charlie alone. He cares about Charlie, he deeply values her love for him. He was taking a beating and he was defending the one person who doesn't treat him like an object. He was terrified for himself, but he was even more frightened for Charlie. He's a good friend deep down.

Episode 4 is uncomfortable and graphic and clearly not everyone can watch it, it is very very triggering. But everyone who has been following Hazbin knew this was coming because like I said before at no point was Angel's abuse a secret, and there is plenty of time before the really graphic stuff happens for people to realize what's coming and skip it. Even before episode 4, Angel's abuse was foreshadowed when he was going through Valentino's voicemails.

I understand that not everyone's experiences with abuse and SA are the same, and its completely valid to dislike episode 4, but to accuse Viv and her team for sexualizing and romanticizing SA and abuse solely based on an out of context 10 second clip is outrageous. Angel Dust may not be someone you can relate to, but others do.

Angel Dust is portrayed as sympathetic the entire episode, Valentino is portrayed as a disgusting scumbag piece of shit who deserves to be exterminated. How the fuck is that romanticizing abuse?

Anyway I just wanted to get that out of the way before I get to actually reviewing Hazbin.

rewatching s1 of broadchurch even tho im halfway through my first watch of s3 because i have an obsession with rewatching things and DAMN there are way more hints at who ended up being the killer than i originally thought, and a bunch of moments that are really ironic in hindsight

spoilers under the cut (yes it came out like 10 years ago but im still putting a spoiler warning)

ep1 - joe and ellie talk in the kitchen after hardy makes the statement to the media

joe: do you know what happened? i mean should we be worried for other kids?

on first watch, his tone of voice and body language here just seem like confused and worried parent, but on second, there's definitely a hint of panic in his voice

ep2 - joe, tom and fred in the cafe

joe: this is a terrible, unspeakable thing thats happened. but nothing like it will ever happen again here

tom: you cant know that though can you? you cant be sure

then after this joe's facial expression looks SO guilty like he can't think how to respond

ep3 - hardy questioning tom with joe in the room

hardy: can you think of anyone who would want to hurt danny?

THEN THE CAMERA IMMEDIATELY CUTS TO JOE. ik near the end joe swears he never wanted to hurt him but this is still a rly clever piece of editing, i love when shows do this. also the fact that in every scene where he's questioning tom, joe's in the room and occasionally talks but he's never in the frame of the camera hardys using to record it. he was literally right under their noses the entire time and they never suspected because they were focused on other people too much

ep4 hardy goes to the millers" for dinner

this scene hits so much different on second viewing holy shit. at one point they're talking about marriage and work and how hardy's divorce was partially work-related and:

ellie actually makes me sob she loves her life so much then it all just comes crashing down on her

joe: do you think you're gonna solve this case?

hardy: certain.

joe's reply itself here makes sense but there's a few seconds before he says it where his face is just blank and mildly panicked. he's genuinely worrying about being caught at this point.

now this one isn't a direct hint or anything but just if you think about the dialogue in a different context...yeah it fits

joe said nothing to the police or ellie and yet was lying the WHOLE time.

ep5 - brian asks ellie out

ellie spends the whole scene looking around to see if anyone looks worried, at one point she looks into a room (seemingly at nige but joe is stood nearby having a different conversation) and she makes eye contact with joe RIGHT as the camera cuts away

ep 6 - joe takes tom to the skate park and ellie arrives

ellie: i was just looking round that bar at the wake thinking "its someone here, why cant i see it?" the longer this goes on, im starting to suspect everyone

this is probably the most obvious hint that i can't believe i didn't catch on to. of COURSE they're gonna make a point for the killer to be the ONE person ellie LITERALLY SAYS she isn't suspicious of.

Did you know that in a recent video Alan made with DJ he confirmed that TSC, Green, Yellow, Red and Blue are around the ages of 10 to 12 years old. He also said that they are just really smart children. I really like that they just young kids, makes their mannerisms and child like behavior make more sense.

Hmmm... okay, I want to preface with saying that I'm happy you find joy in headcanoning the Color Gang to be 10 to 12 year olds. I'm glad you like thinking they're kids.

BUT

I've seen a lot of people use that clip of Alan saying they're 10 to 12 year old kids as canon. And like, frankly, I don't see how it can be.

TLDR;

It's fine if you see the Color Gang as kids in the range of 10 - 12, more power to you, but I don't see it as canon because it doesn't make sense to me and I personally can't relate to them. So I see them as young adults. )

First off, I honestly don't trust anything Alan has to say when it comes to what is or is not canon to the videos because Alan has said via his Members discord that there isn't any concrete "lore" for the characters and the world aside from a paragraph of personality traits for the Color Gang. While I myself, am not in the Discord, I have a friend who sometimes talks about stuff in there with me. A lot of the things story and lore things he and the team make up as they go. He will just say stuff without really considering previously establish canon.

(Trust me, I know. I've spent so much brainpower trying to connect the stick figure world together in a cohesive manner, its not even funny anymore aldkglsjsgs /lh)

No knock to Alan and his Team though. I understand that AvA/M is an on-going series with SO MANY videos to keep track of. It'd be hard to keep everything inline with lore if you don't have a dedicated keeper of it. But that's the reason why I take anything Alan says outside of the animations themselves, with a grain of salt.

Let's break down this "canon" scene shall we?

Actually, lets start a little bit before the scene, so everyone can get some context:

Just reading this, it looks like Alan confirmed that they're 10-13 year olds right?

Yeah if you ONLY look at this and not take into account the joking and non-serious tone both Alan and DJ had throughout this entire conversation. They like joking around and saying things. That's kinda their whole thing during their reacts. Alan is a more dead-pan but he was definitely making a lighthearted joke or comment playing off of the statement of them being 10.

Actually, lets go look at the question leading up to this.

"How old are they, like since their CREATION, I guess?"

Since their creation. AvA 4 is the video where Second and RYGB were first introduced and can serve as their creation date (assuming we're not taking about lore because while AvA 4 is Second's creation date, I'd argue the Stick Fighters were created prior and would in fact be older). AvA 4 premiered in 2014

Which is almost 10 years ago.

There is a high likelihood that both Alan and DJ were using the upload date of AvA 4 as the Color Gang's "creation date".

And if you want to headcanon a stick figure's age is how many years since their creation date, then more power to you.

To me that makes no sense because then that'd mean King is 2 years old. (AvM Parkour released April, 2021) Which is insane. alskdjglsjglsgd

So for at least me, someone who headcanons the Stick Figures as young adults, this who "age discourse" feels icky to me.

Plus, I personally can't relate to kids because I myself, am an adult. It's easier for me to relate to characters around my age range.

3. A concept or plot that you thought was squandered in a story

the initial concept of The Circle Trilogy is one I like. (For those who don’t know, the protagonist falls asleep in our world and wakes up in another. Every time he falls asleep he switches worlds.) One thing I don’t like is how the other world is seemingly just the future. But a very weird future. And then there’s more I don’t like about it the more it goes on. (Dreamwalker by K. M. Weiland has a similar thing going on except it literally is another world and I much prefer that, but theres something else weird about that story and it doesn’t quite scratch the itch. I want something in between, maybe.)

I think I have mentioned this one trilogy that was set in a fantasy world with 18th century technology (roughly, if I remember right). The Legend of the Firefish, by George Bryan Polivka involved hunting these elusive creatures called firefish (inspired by the Leviathan, I believe,) using baited explosives… or something like that. It’s been a while. The thing I hated about the trilogy was it seemed to be trying to prove pacifism was always the right thing, taking scripture out of context, and yet in the end it relied on someone else (not the preachy main character) committing the act of violence that saved the day. And it still treated that as a bad thing despite the lives that were saved. The thing I think was wasted was the setting, as well as the idea that, though ostensibly the firefish were hunted for their meat, in reality people were salvaging the skins and using them as lightweight, flexible, but incredibly tough armor. yeah, I just wanted to rant about that one again. xD

4. An underutilized setting or world

I mentioned the setting in the previous example, but while I think it was wasted on that story it wasn’t really underutilized. Hmm. I do think more could’ve been done in Dreamwalker by K. M. Weiland with this other world. I sure did hope she would finish that sequel but I don’t think she did.

6. An author you want to rescue from the story they told

Sigmund Brouwer. Sir, it’s time to move on from Magnus. Mr. Brouwer please. You’ve tried redoing it three times now and it’s not fixing anything because the first version is actually the best. Please. (He’s not redoing it *again* that I know of, but this was the only thing that came to mind.)

7. A book you wanted to or thought you would love but didn’t

The Songkeeper Chronicles by Gillian Brontë Adams. The author’s blog was one I’d found while blog-hopping through writing advice blogs (said blog is how I first found out about Dare, by Tricia Mingerink) and I liked what she had to say on writing. I was excited when I saw that the library had gotten her books… and yet I remember almost nothing about the series besides it being vaguely interesting but not enough to reread.

Kind of thinking A Time to Die, by Nadine Brandes fits the bill. The main character annoyed me in the beginning but I persevered only to find that she was just as annoying at the end.

I do distinctly remember the first time I read LotR, but it was also a long time ago and I don’t distinctly remember the second time I read it.

Outlaws of Time: The Last of the Lost Boys by N. D. Wilson for portraying Kit Carson like that. *hisses* I’ve also never quite forgiven Harry Potter for being everywhere.

Gaudy Night by Dorothy Sayers had an element spoiled for me, because I mostly read The Mind of the Maker before I read Gaudy Night and she talks a bit about it in that. I'm not on bird app, and TikTok is geoblocked here, so I don't usually get too deep into fandom drama, nor am I interested in it. Unfortunately, it seems like the drama is spilling over here, and it has me questioning my reading comprehension for the past few days honestly. So here goes nothing, if you don't want to read about fandom discourse (which I recommend, for your own mental health), feel free to ignore this post. I just feel like I'm going insane so I need to get it off my chest.

From what I've read here, someone on bird app demanded Lou to explain some racist/misogynist memes he posted on insta over a decade ago, which were still on his page until very recently. Lou replied with this screenshot:

I've heard rumors of a certain subsection of the fandom impersonating bucktommy fans in order to stir up controversies. Again, I'm not on those sites, I can't confirm that, but I do admit the timeline is a bit suspicious. I get why some of you immediately rush to defend Lou and theorize that he was hacked, but I feel like it's such a cop out. Too many problematic figures get off scot-free just by claiming they were hacked. I'll hold out my judgement on that until more verified information comes out.

So for consistency's sake, I'm going to play devil's advocate, let's assume it really was Lou who tweeted that. I still don't see how it makes him an ableist?

First, it wasn't him who made this comment, the owner of that instagram account did. It wasn't even someone else's tweet or meme that he reposted, or did he signify his agreement to this statement. It was literally someone else's insta bio, a line that somebody else used to represent themself.

Second, look at the insta account itself. It's a K-pop stan account with 0 post and only 1 follower. It follows 19 celebrity pages, so it's safe to say someone made this account especially to snoop on celebrity news. How did Lou even find out the existence of such an account? That user must've initiated some kind of contact with Lou first, either through DMs or comments. Lou's an actor on a hit TV show, I'm sure he gets random comments from strangers every day. For a random stan account to stand out, they must've made an impression, probably not a good one either.

Third, it was posted as a direct response to someone demanding explanation for Lou's past problematic insta content. Why would he make an unrelated ableist joke about bullying blind kids in response to that? It's clearly a sort of gotcha attempt at pointing out the hypocrisy of the people pestering him online lately. They accuse Lou of being a bigot and try to get him fired, but at the same time they make jokes like this, so they're not in a place to judge him. Which is..... a shit retort. Lou's social media history WAS problematic, people have to right to question him on that. Him hitting back is whataboutism, but it doesn't make it less true, those people ARE bullies.

As I've said before, you don't have to be okay with Lou's past. I personally don't care, as I don't know him as a person, I also don't know who he was 10 years ago and what kind of environment he was in. As long as he's not actively using his platform to promote harmful views or using his fame to exploit people, I'm as okay with him as his co-workers are.

You do you, you can dislike him, outright hate him even, but you have to ignore all context and twist words around in order to paint him as an ableist asshole with this and this only.

So I ended up watching the Galvatron therapy episode, aka Webworld

I just want to list my thoughts on it, because why not

Note that I’ve never gotten much farther than like, Episode 10 of g1, so I have absolutely no context for what’s happening around this time in the story other than some basic stuff

Okay so first off, I can kind of see why people may not like the later portion of g1, I’m not sure it’s my cup of tea either. From what I understand it takes place mostly in space, with a lot of new planets and aliens, and not that much Earth. I kind of don’t like that, wish they just stayed on Earth, maybe with some Cybertron in there too. Also all these alien designs make me feel more like I’m watching He-Man or She-Ra more than I’m watching Transformers (I actually did watch a good chunk of the original She-Ra show some years ago after the reboot was over, so I do actually have a leg to stand on here)

Also kind of wish I had subtitles so I could understand what half of the things being said were, like what was actually going on with Galvatron’s brain and how he got out of the lobotomy (so basically the sci-fi mumbo jumbo), but I think that’s just an issue of the platform I watched it on more than anything. And maybe a personal over-reliance on subtitles

Anyways, on to the actual episode

Small thing but I really like this new ship the Autobots have, I think his name is Sky Lynx? He’s a dinosaur but also a space shuttle and their mode of transportation, and quite frankly I think that’s just cool as shit

Second, Cyclonus is immediately a favorite of mine, I see why people like him (and also why some people ship him and Galvatron). He just genuinely was concerned for Galvatron, but also was trying to reason with him when he was making poor decisions, not just going with whatever Galvatron said. Maybe part of it is that he’s a good change of pace for me as an actual very loyal second in command for the Decepticons while also being pretty competent on top of that. Also also, I like his voice on top of that

I think for whatever reason I never expect depth from the g1 characters, so when they any amount of it I’m so shocked

Now on to Galvatron. Okay yeah, man’s definitely not mentally well. Cyclonus had to basically herd him there by making him think the Autobots were on the therapy planet. They feel like that “sure grandma, let’s get you to bed” meme

But also, that scene of the therapy monkey guys about to lobotomize him. He was begging to be freed and he sounded so distressed, he even added “please” at the end. I know he’s the bad guy, and maybe context would make me not feel this way, but am I not supposed to feel bad for him here? Free my man

Like yeah, he definitely needs help, but honestly after all that I don’t think I blame the Decepticons for not trying again to get him some. If my leader got nearly forcefully lobotmized like that from the first mental health resource I gave a chance to (and I also don’t really know much about how mental health care works in the first place), I wouldn’t try that again. Also he probably wouldn’t fall for it as easily the second time around

I also found it kind of funny when he managed to construct a gun during one of his attempted treatments to try and get out, and it was I assume his immediate first thought as to what to build. But also I think I saw someone make a post about this and how it may have in part been because he used to transform into a gun as Megatron. I think the intent was just “he makes gun because he’s violent”, but I just thought that was an interesting tidbit, angsty too

Anyways yeah. Don’t really like all the alien part of it, but the episode was neat. Bring Galvatron back so he can get his proper medical health care

tl;dr of the petey/miller “situation” is that historically they haven’t exactly gotten along (they’ve both publicly spoken about how they are very different in terms of personality and interests, and that they’ve had to work on their relationship over the years) and this season there have been these consistent droplets in the media of info/rumours suggesting things might have taken a downward turn for them after being chill last year 😭 off the top of my head:

- they had a scuffle/fight at a practice and reporters heard miller allegedly calling petey a “baby”

- biz on spittinchiclets was contemplating a miller trade awhile ago, citing that he and pettersson didn’t get along (he’s not an insider insider so i wouldn’t put too much into the trade talk from him, but he does tend to have his pulse on stuff like player dynamics)

- when miller went on his leave of absence patik allvin had a quote (in an unplanned “interview” w a travelling reporter, for the context — it wasn’t a press conference where he was prepared with comments) basically saying he thought miller would come back a better player/teammate. imo i don’t think it’s fair to look too deeply into a one-off quote from a guy speaking in his second language but hockey fans will do what hockey fans do (read into things).

- when miller was coming back, elliotte friedman said that when he returned to the locker room he was going to have to “bend,” but the other players would also have to bend, in order for everybody’s strengths to be able to coexist.

- petey has had 0 points in the 5 game since miller has come back (after having 15 pts in the 10 games he was absent) and miller hasn’t been that much better, which has fueled speculation/conversation further.

- for the last 3 games, they’ve been on separate power play units, and while sometimes teams divide up their normal first unit to try to create 2 completely balanced power plays, it’s solely petey/miller who have been swapping between pp1 and pp2. (although in 2 of those 3 games, the lotto line — miller, pettersson, and boeser — was put out for a shift, so it’s not like they’ve been completely incapable of playing together lol)

- there have been other various media personalities (reporters, bruce boudreau, etc.) who have essentially repeated “yeah they don’t get along great” in the last week or so, which has added nothing of note to the conversation but has kept the stream of discussion going.

ultimately there are a lot of reasons to explain why a lot these things are probably happening (petey played a lot more with quinn when miller was gone, for example, which is likely the real reason his production was so much better). the reason it’s such a big “story” is because there is admittedly a less than stellar history between them and both of them are currently underperforming offensively, so the chronically online canucks twitter users have run away with that and decided it’s all connected (and our media doesn’t exactly help). imo their relationship probably lies somewhere between what they’ve said publicly (where it doesn’t sound like a huge deal) and what twitter/the media are trying to make it out to be (where you’d think they’re one bad game away from fighting at centre ice), and if the team was playing better than they are then barely anybody would be talking about it lol. where there’s smoke there’s usually fire, so who knows how this ends, but while their dynamic has been less than ideal for years i’d still be surprised if the solution was a trade instead of “you’re both adults please just figure out how to coexist” 😭

oh lord. that might be kinda difficult actually asldfkjsdklfj i started reading DN sooooo long ago... BUT i will do my best!! (ask game)

first impression: i genuinely don't remember all that well. to be entirely honest, i don't know if i even thought about him all that much at first-- if i'm not Fixated on a story for some reason (like Serious fixations that i blog about a lot on here, or even just paying extra close attention like for an assignment or something since i watch a lotta movies for film classes) i tend to not do a whole lot of analysis for my first go at a story =3=" like i'm almost Always shocked by plot twists cause i won't even bothering stopping to think "oh shit, what's gonna happen next," i'll just be too Invested in the Moment to think ahead. (guess i kinda do that in actual irl social situations too... all my thinking comes afterwards LMFAO i'm very no thoughts head empty all Survival Instinct when i'm talking to people. whoops.) the fact that i started reading the manga way back in my freshman year of high school (Quite a few years ago now) also doesn't help. lmfao. and also the fact that i stopped reading midway through like, vol. 9/10... ;w;

if i had to guess though, i think my (somewhat fandom-osmosis influenced) view of him was that he was kind of an uptight dumbass with highly questionable morals. scrolling all the way back through the death note tag on my archive kinda points at this, like my mild amusement at these three posts speaks to that kind of surface level view of him. i certainly didn't have a lot of nuance or original hot takes involved in how i thought of him-- not until this post fucking exploded my mind a couple months ago and dragged me into the Trenches for good. idk though, i think a lot of my currents views on him were still present, just kind of dormant or not yet evolved...

favorite moment: ehehe i've said this before, but his death!! in the manga specifically, but i enjoy any solid light death in any adaptation (the stairs in the anime & requiem in the musical, in particular). i think i've read the last few chapters of DN the most overall, from his speech until those 2 black pages... this panel is forever burned into my mind as one of if not The best page in the entirety of DN to me.

perhaps i'm just biased since i re-read the entirety of DN a second time just to remember the context so i'd be prepared getting into the ending, but that final volume of the series (eh final two volumes? i have the black edition, vol.6) will forever hit the hardest to me. light's Terror upon realizing he's going to die is just so absolutely deliciously horrible, it makes me sick to my fucking stomach in my favorite way. it's such a cathartic comeuppance, a vicious humbling that no other adaptation has really managed to get at in the same way for me. luv watching u die bbygrl <33

unpopular opinion: this is also kinda hard to answer cause i feel like most of my Hot DN Takes are just. ways of adding additional nuance to common fandom takes? e.g. i don't think light is all that overtly bigoted, or at least not in a way that He himself is aware of. like, i've definitely made a joke about light being a republican before, but realistically i think light's politics are just about whatever he thinks will make the most people like him-- he just skews more conservative a lot of times cause he's in a very privileged, pro-cop household and social environment.

i guess my hot take might be related to that, actually-- i've talked in-depth about my thoughts on light's intelligence before so i won't get into That again, but as a kind of sidenote to those points, i don't think light is very emotionally aware when it comes to reading himself. part of this might just be a side effect of the KIRA stuff, the Cycles he traps himself in to avoid having to think about all the ways he Might Actually be a Bad Person, but part of it might just be his immaturity or (male) socialization as well?

i actually find this kind of relatable about him, sometimes-- like in the second half of the series, he often responds to Panic with an anger response, which he usually takes out on either misa, ryuk, or the JTF (usually matsuda, since that's the most Acceptable target to get annoyed at for dumbassery). light Feels everything very strongly, often in contrast to L who very rarely gets attached to things (except for the rare cases where he gets Super attached) but he doesn't really have a good outlet for dealing with those feelings so he just represses everything instead. you can see this w/ his depression in the second half of the series too-- Work & L & KIRA, balancing all those titles and responsibilities is what matters, so he autopilots through it all in a desperate bid to escape facing the fact that his soul has been withering for the last half a decade since L's death.

it's hard to be a person when you're trying to meet Everybody's expectations, i guess, and KIRA does nothing but provide light with even more expectations to live up to if he wants the validation that will definitely totally absolutely make him happy and his life perfect and amazing and meaningful.

favorite relationship: i mean, ship-wise it's obviously lawlight, though i have grown somewhat of a soft spot for matsulight after writing them recently. for character dynamics just in general though-- i really really really like how good yagamane are at casually torturing each other just by Existing, one day i'd like to write a fic about those two set at some point during the time skip. i also love any moonriver interactions, ofc, those are some of the funniest in the series just for how fucking dramatic light is, especially in comparison to the Dead Inside-ness of near. the ways that light idolizes his dad is also very interesting to me, and i'd like to look into that more.

as for more underrated dynamics... i think i'd like to look into some mello/light stuff a little more sometime :3c ehehe

favorite headcanon: HM. hard to pick a favorite. uhh as more of a minor one, i really like that idea that light counts to 40 to calm himself down. actually, speaking of-- in terms of Mental Illness headcanons that i don't see super often, i really like giving light anxiety. for no particular reason. <- (projecting) askfjsdjk ok but like in terms of general/social anxiety specifically, not just OCD (though i'm fond of that one too). this is mostly because i think light's anger problems are just a product of his underlying anxiety mis-management, though again i may just be projecting SO. probably about time to end this post huh. askldjfksldjfkd

Pairing/s: Ethan Landry x OC!Miyuki

Summary: When Chad said he had won an all-inclusive trip to Japan for 8 people, most people thought this "little vacation" was a good opportunity to clear their heads. The place was beautiful, although that was exactly the problem. How could Chad win a luxury trip in a raffle of dubious origin? Shortly after, they discovered that, despite being a charming place, it had a very dark secret.

Warnings: Language, shoddy comedy, gore? (just a description, I think), bad writing, sorry, non-ghostface. I think that's all, if I'm missing something, don't hesitate to tell me.

A/N (Author's Note): For the story of this special (which comes a little late, sorry), I based it on two movies and a video game: The Grudge (its American version), and the game that was created by Chilla's Art: The Bathhouse. English is not my first language, so if there are mistakes, don't crucify me. (Only Nexorath dialogues will be purple)

Everything was completely fine. Miyuki just wanted to spend the next few days making Halloween-themed cookies together with her spoon cleaner, Ethan. If only Chad hadn't won that damn trip to Japan, they wouldn't be in this situation. But for more context, let's go back in time.

Two weeks before…

Miyuki was preparing the cookie dough while Ethan hugged her from behind, his face hidden in the crook of her neck. “Love, I need space to handle the dough” he said to the curly-haired boy. “I'm sorry... I barely saw you all week because of exams, I can't help but want to be close to you” Ethan responded with a sad expression. Miyuki just smiled and rolled her eyes. “Okay, stop making that puppy dog ​​expression and help me make the cookies” Ethan smiled and started helping his girlfriend with the preparation, just like she had taught him a while ago.

After a few minutes, Miyuki put the tray with the cookie dough in the oven and took out the sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle on them within 10 minutes. At that, the head of his symbiote, Nexorath, emerged from behind his back. "I can't wait to eat cookies" the symbiote said with a smile, Ethan just rolled his eyes, “Are you leaving the rest with nothing again, glutton?” after saying that, the symbiote quickly turned to look at Ethan.

“Who do you think you're calling a glutton, you broccoli hair idiot?!”

“What did you call me a parasite?!”

"Parasite?! I’ll headbutt you!!”

“Enough!!” Miyuki exclaimed irritably. “My God, you look like an old couple. They won't eat cookies if they keep fighting like that. Nexorath, you know you are forbidden from headbutting others, and Ethan, stop calling him a parasite” after the girl scolded them, they both bowed their heads and remained silent until the cookies were ready and sprinkled.

They were about to start eating cookies when the door to the apartment Miyuki shared with her best friend, Anika, was heard. Multiple voices could be heard and, seconds later, the aforementioned girl stuck her head out of the kitchen door with a smile. “Sorry to interrupt your quality time together, guys, but Chad needs you in the room.”

“What for?” Miyuki asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No idea, he said it was incredible news.”

Anika leaves in the direction of the living room, “The cookies will have to wait guys” Miyuki said as she took Ethan's hand and headed to the living room, “I hope it's quick, I've already waited a long time to eat cookies” Nexorath and his infinitely short patience.

Entering the room, Miyuki saw everyone: Sam, Tara, Mindy, Anika, Chad, the perpetrator of the incredible news, and even one of her brothers, Kenji. “Kenji? "What are you doing here?" the girl asked, looking at her brother while Ethan sat on the only space left on the couch and she settled into his legs. “I don't have the slightest idea, I was just coming to leave you the book you lent me. I ran into them and Chad dragged me here” Kenji said with his usual serious expression.

“So… Why the sudden reunion?” Ethan asked, looking at his best friend and roommate as he wrapped his arm around Miyuki's waist. “I'm glad you asked my dear Ethan. The news that I will give next will only demonstrate my good luck.”

“Do you have any idea what the hell he's talking about?” Miyuki asked in a whisper to Tara, who was next to her, but she just shrugged, “He didn't want to tell me.”

“Well, I hope it's really too good news to interrupt my time eating cookies” the symbiote spoke in his head, making only Miyuki hear him.

“A few weeks ago I went to Brooklyn with some kids from one of my classes and entered a raffle place. I signed up for one of them and I won. Can anyone guess what the prize was?” Chad asked, looking around at everyone.

“Speak up!” Miyuki and Mindy exclaimed at the same time.

Chad was startled, “Shit! Well, well, how impatient” he rolled his eyes and spoke again, “Well, friends, I am pleased to announce that... I won a trip to Japan!” everyone was silent for a few seconds, before they jumped and They began to congratulate Chad, except Kenji, Mindy and Miyuki. “Chad, that's incredible!” Anika exclaimed as she stood up to hug her friend. “It's true, you really have good luck” Sam told him with a smile and then Tara stood up to congratulate her boyfriend. , “I wasn't expecting that news, congratulations babe” “Congratulations, bro!” Ethan moved his girlfriend to hug Chad.

“And you guys aren't going to congratulate me?” i ask, looking at Kenji, his sister, and Miyuki.

“I still don't know what I'm doing here” Kenji said.

“Chad, dear brother, your award gives me a bad feeling.”

“I share Mindy's opinion.”

“I haven't eaten cookies for coming to hear your news, and it's rubbish!” Nexorath came out, he was very irritated.

“Oh come on! I haven't even told you the best part. The trip is for 8 people! That's why I brought Miyuki's brother.”

Miyuki and Kenji look at him for a few seconds, “You know we go there with the same frequency as we visit a supermarket, right?” Kenji said making Chad a little frustrated, “Please, guys, so that the trip is valid. As they made their way through the airport, the bustle of people and the sound of advertisements echoed around them. Miyuki looked around, feeling a mix of irritation and nervousness because she didn't like crowded places. “I can't believe I finally got to visit where your family comes from” Ethan murmured, the girl just smiled and squeezed his hand tenderly.

“Shit!” Miyuki exclaimed, stopping short.

“What's going on? Did you forget something?” the curly-haired boy asked, causing the entire group to look at them.

“Ahh no, I hope you didn't forget anything, we don't have time for you to go back and forth” Chad said, with a worrying tone.

They quickly began to choose who would stay in each room: Miyuki, Ethan, Anika and Mindy would share one; Sam, Quinn, Kenji and Masashi would share the other; and Chad and Tara would get the master bedroom.

After settling into their accommodation, the group decided to head straight to the temple. As they walked, Miyuki noticed the atmosphere change; The bright lights of the city were transformed into the calm of the temple.

But as they prepared for the photo, Miyuki felt a chill run down her spine again. This was going to end badly...

When they returned it was almost 12. Everyone went to their respective rooms, wishing each other good night. Miyuki walked into the room she would share with Ethan, Anika, and Mindy. The walls were decorated in light colors and there was a large window on the side where Mindy and Anika would sleep.

Nexorath was holding a frying pan with an extra arm he had generated, Miyuki was holding a knife in each hand, and a few others were nailed to the kitchen pantry door.

“What the hell happened here?!” Mindy asked, seeing how upset Miyuki and Nexorath were. “There was a-a…” The girl tried to explain, but she could hardly articulate words, so it was the symbiote that finished the sentence for her. “There was a ghost! A damn abomination!! That damn thing was terrifying!!!”

"Ghost?" Tara spoke, somewhat skeptical, while Ethan approached his girlfriend to take the knives from her, followed by the girl's brothers to make sure she was okay.

this is the doc for expanding on comet's time with skye - specifically how it started and how his absence impacted boost and sinker. the title is a placebo song that's very comet/sinker when comet leaves them for skye. it's been really difficult to work on because i never want bad things to happen to them 🥺

what's in out of the ashes is very brief and i've also changed my mind about a key part - boost and sinker distrust skye from the very first day they meet him, which i no longer think serves the story. he's not some simple asshole, he's a master manipulator, and many abusers know how to charm not only their victims but also the people who would protect them - at least until they've got their claws into their victim.

i'm also changing the "reward" skye is holding over comet's head to get him to obey. currently it's the promise of being his collared sub, but it's going to be the promise of marriage and children - the things comet wanted with wooley, things that have always been incredibly important to him.

both of these things in the original diminish the relationship comet has with boost and sinker. they make it mean so much less than it does. he would never leave them to get a dom and if they said they didn't trust someone he would trust them.

“I'm not talking about this with you,” Sinker slurs. He turns away, deciding to take a different way home. Let Boost stew in his shit mood on his own, he thinks.

What happens next happens so fast that Sinker can't really make sense of it.

There are several noises - the blaring of a horn, the squealing of tires, voices yelling - two of them - all of them too loud. Then the blinding lights and the hands yanking him backward so suddenly his vision spins.

“Sink- Sinker, I can't lose you, too!” Boost is shouting at him, grabbing him by the shoulders and shaking him hard. All he can do is freeze, eyes wide. “For fuck’s sake, I can't lose my whole fucking family! What is wrong with you?”

The anguish in Boost's voice, the fear in his eyes, it chills Sinker to the bone. Boost is.. Boost is angry with him. Really, really angry.

Both of them just stare at each other for a long moment before Boost’s gaze drops to his hands where they still grip Sinker hard enough to bruise. His eyes widen and he lets go like he's been burned.

“Sink..” he whispers, shaking his head subtly in disbelief. He swallows hard, looks down at his hands, then back up to Sinker's face with tears in his eyes. “I didn't- I'm so sorry. Did I-”

“I th- I think..” Sinker blinks a few times. “I think I need to throw up.”

“Yeah,” Boost agrees quietly, wiping his eyes on the back of his hand. “Yeah, I think you do.”

if you're interested to know about the show- you really didn't miss much lol especially you having been a fan for so long what they showed in AYS wasn't anything we haven't seen before except for not hiding their bodies like they usually do. The show didn't show me anything new about their dynamic or them as people. They spent 80% of the time at restaurants or just eating the other 10% was actual activities 5% of them talking (which by the way they really have nothing substantial to talk about it which was probably the only surprising thing about this show- their conversations were either bringing up the other members or them bickering about something dumb) you can tell there was alot of dead silence that was edited out because one moment they're talking then it gets quiet then it cuts to them on their phone lol the last 5% i would say was what people consider typical jikook like jimin being affectionate playful touches yadda yadda yadda

all in all it was kind of eh. I feel as though tbe target audience was for heavily jikook biased only because as an outsider I can't imagine how boring it must have been- even for an army I bet it was okay for them.

After so many years I've learned how to navigate through content and watch only the parts I'm interested in, and that's basically what I did to watch Jimin's clips because I wanted to see what he looked like, or some of his opinions.

I can also tell when something might be relevant or it could be new information, so I watch that too. I'm also able to realize if I need more context around a clip or gif, and in that case I usually look for a longer clip, subtitles, translations, etc. I might even go to the source and watch the episode myself, which is what I did for example when taekook had that conversation in ITS 1. I never watched the show, but I have watched that episode. Gifs, pictures and clips without context are reactionary mostly, and people post them for fun or whatever. But when you go to the source content more often than not is not that impressive after getting the full picture.

As for the show, there's a post I made months ago, around the time it was announced, where I said I had questions about 2022, 2023, and they weren't going to give me answers, so I couldn't bring myself to be interested. And nothing has proven me wrong so far. Them saying they didn't really meet up in 2023 wasn't one of my questions, I was already certain of that so it was more of a confirmation. All in all, I knew how they were going to act because I've been watching them every single day for the past 7 years.

Watching Jimin listen to his music was probably the most relevant thing to me lol. Because we hadn't really seen that! He basically went MIA a while after face, and besides from the hot 100 live, we didn't get to see many of his reactions to his own music. I'm not talking about reacting to achievements but him just listening and appreciating his songs.

Also, his body. Like. I really thought we'd never ever see his full moon tattoo that way.

I've started watching the last episode because it's one of the last stuff Jimin filmed before enlisting, so I want to see it. I still haven't finished it, but yeah I'm watching that just fyi.

I disagree that Jimin was touchy, though. In fact I've noticed he's rather reserved in his interactions with Jungkook, compared to what he used to be like up to 2021ish. But that's also something that's been noticeable for a couple of years. For the record, I don't think any of them were touchy or clingy or none of that stuff. There's a reason the only clip people I've seen people use of them touching is the one from the first or second episode 😭 that's like 1 minute out of 9 hours of content.
