people who are so enthusiastic about the things i make and the fandoms i rep at my booth are THE #1 coolest part of the experience 🥺 i feel like convention artist alleys these days are mostly filled with the same 4 popular anime/mobile games and it's really hard to find less popular anime, let alone things like video games and webseries. you would not believe how many comments I got that people never see things like Team Fortress 2 or Portal in AAs, let alone stuff like Infinity Train or HLVRAI 😭 the people who recognize them are always SO excited and then I'M excited and we are BOTH excited and nerding out together. it's fantastic!!!

the hlvrai fandom is definitely still going strong! i still see a lot of fanart and community posts and my sales on my few hlvrai things on my etsy have Not slowed down lmao. i'm sure if covid didn't happen there would have been so many benry cosplayers in 2020. we were ROBBED </3 i've seen You and one benry cosplayer at ACEN last year and that was IT </3 </3 </3

Ok so they still can't find any signs of injuries, but she does have a fever. So they're putting her on some meds stuff to hopefully help with that, and if she's not better by next Thursday, we're gonna do some blood tests for her. They think she has a virus, Could be the same one that gave June her cold earlier this month, but a different manifestation of it. So here's hoping the meds help her!!! It's the same stuff that the emergency vet gave me, except this time double checked to ensure that I don't get empty capsules (bc for some reason the packets come with half of them empty??? Weird af). And also a fluids thing that will help her in the short run with hydration and fever. She's a grumpy kitty for being manhandled so much (as much as Tally can get grumpy) but as soon as we got home, she jumped up to eat some dry food, which I think is a good sign!!! God Willing, she can beat this virus and get her health back up to what it should be. I miss my little chaos demon.

#speculation nation #animal sickness ment/#my bank account is now several hundred dollars lighter. between this and the emergency vet visit 😔#worth it for her though. i'll gladly pay thousands if it'll save her life. i was prepared to possibly have to last Saturday.#(when i didnt know what it was and felt like it could maybe be smth she might need surgery for)#thankfully doesnt seem like itll be That much. though if she does need the blood work thatll be another $200 gone 😔#so. hoping that the meds work so i wont have to lol #ive already spent like $300+ 😭😭😭#but it rly is so concerning seeing her so lethargic and in pain. she just does not feel good.#and given how dramatically my last cats' healths dipped... for Sammy and Cassy. yeah i didnt wanna risk it ending up like that.#wanna be proactive to make sure that i keep her around for as long as possible. bc i love her so so dearly.#she went from about 9 pounds to about 8 pounds in the last month tho... it really is so concerning #the vet wasnt the Most concerned bc 8 is still a healthy weight for her. so as long as she doesnt lose even More she should be okay.#she feels so light though... 😭😭😭 it feels so wrong. like shes just a little scrap. my poor little baby...#i hope i wont have to bring her in to the vet for at least another year. for a normal checkup. not anything else like this.#i will just do my best to take care of her.

i keep wanting to continue watching edgerunners whenever people hype it up again, but i absolutely hate lucy and i think i only got to like episode 3.

sorry to randomly go off but i've been thinking a lot about how when the p1 dub came out people said it was "boring" and it's like. yeah. it's pretty close to a direct translation most of the way through. because that's what tms told them to do. and i think some people keep expecting another part 2 holy temple of gags but you gotta realize: nobody gave a shit in the early 2000s. people didn't even give a shit accurately dubbing MAJOR anime they got silly with heavyhitters like pokemon and dragonball and so IMAGINE the comedic freedom of 'no fucking way these middleoftheroad average joe toonami viewers have heard of lupin. who give a shit talk about halle berry" LIKE??

I GUESS THE POINT I'M MAKING IS in the 20 years since then, tms has realized to some extent that there's a pretty sizeable fanbase over here, and so they're paying ATTENTION to how the dubs are written. they're picky now, and when you have a guy watching vigilantly over your shoulder you have to reel in all the off the wall shit. you MAY get a SMALL PORTION of friggin you may receive a SMIDEGON of CRAPCRAPCRAP but you will not be dining off of a full platter of chicken nuggets tonight my guy

these days i do sometimes see people literally just parrot the western-machismo ideal of 'ewww, feminine men, gross everyone who likes men should want big manly men and if they don't they're wrongheaded. smh silly misguided people' while simultaneously, and here's the rub of it and the part that makes me feel like it's bizarro world, they've truly and genuinely convinced themselves this is a meaningfully anti-bigotry position of some kind. and that liking men who are soft or thin or feminine is an insufficiently-progressive low-key-bigoted position. because it's.... i don't know, inherently fetishizing, or something. fuck if i know. i think this is bizarro-world thinking to a comical degree

i speculate it's one of the many internet phenomena that result from people looking at what's popular in their circles of awareness and going 'well this must be the societally expected default and so the principled position is to advocate for whatever its alternative is (and surely the fact i personally prefer the alternative as a matter of taste is just a coincidence)'

and not realizing that..like.. even though their internet sphere has a lot of Lisa Simpsons reading their own personal fandom version of Non-threatening Boys Magazine the western world at large still definitely eschews non-traditional masculinity and expects everyone to favor manly men rather than willowy bishounen.

so you aren't actually fighting any sort of pressing Good Fight by getting mad that some people like or depict sad wet wimpy thin boys instead of all longing for a big beef-o muscle archetype, and you should inspect whether in fact the issue is just that you dislike that aesthetic/character type (or, in a fandom context, that specific character). which if so is fine and you can enjoy the kind of content you enjoy without making it a smug grandstand

#i think this first started to bother me in the BJD world #about 15yrs ago when the first muscular options started showing up there was an implicit 'finally! the good shit!'#at the time this reaction made sense! primarily because it was a type of body that wasn't offered by companies before #but people (in the western part of the hobby) just kept expressing their distaste for slim/androgynous dolls even as muscular became common #at some point i really started to dislike the implications when people sneered at 'bishie' type doll styling as the un-enlightened default #when it was clearly on its way out in favor of machismo and muscle and so much of the world pushes the latter already #at this point as far as new dolls being released the formerly common soft willowy boy dolls are pretty rare versus tall ones with muscles #anyway lately ive been forced to notice against my will that this became a thing in anime fandom when i wasnt looking or something #and people justify it in like. absurdly self aggrandizing ways #'oh i like REAL men not wimpy skinny weak boys. Y’know, I somehow managed to avoid falling into an obsession with QSMP when it first launched, but I’ve been sucked back into Philza’s content through the sheer might of his charisma in the TOTK vods and I fear my time is running out

#wjatevr. i dont care #no actually i do care. its about morishige how can i not care #i saw a very interesting take on why morishige chases yuka (not the tutorial idea. thats also interesting though)#something about how he was protecting her and he was never going to harm her #and i was like huh. maybe i misunderstood because i played the game when i was 11 #and then i realized i literally played it last week #i cant help but disagree? yeah he wasnt planning on hurting her. it makes the whole chase scene very funny especially if you get caught #he keeps repeating the same thing and me and my sister joke about it all the time lol #but anyways. i think that even in the manga he wouldnt have hurt her even though he hints at his intent being more malicious than in game #i love this scene because i love hearing people talk about why the fuck he did this #let me talk about the manga instead for a moment actually i think this scene is much funner there #he stops for a moment when yuka stops crying before he breaks into this very obviously malicious grin #like he was EXCITED. the darkening had already startrd to show and its very clear while hes chasing her #the whole time he was just messing with her. he wasnt planning to harm her in the manga either #because he literally catches up to her. and he could've caught up to her multiple times had he not been taking pictures as she ran #all he did when he caught up to her was whisper in her ear. so #yeah. he wasnt going to kill her or injure her like in the anime. but does that mean he had any good intentions?#im not sure how this could be described as him simply helping her #and i could be remembering wrong but doesnt he somewhat explain himself in book of shadows?#i remember him saying something about him just having fun and enjoying how scared she was #so ive always just seen it as him enjoying the rush he got from chasing someone weaker than him #because it was partially the darkening right?#im not one to say that morishige is inherently evil or always had a huge interest in gore or anything. becausw its not true #but i dont want to deface his character by warping his intentions to seem less malicious #i need to get a fucking journal this is getting out of hand #finn.txt

#rat rambles #Ive been in my 3d animation class for 2 hours and Im gonna be here for another 2 hours god help me #I have a decent start of a draft for our current 2d animation assignment but I am now kinda burnt out so Im taking a break #which ofc means Im bored as hell I should have brought snacks fr #idk I might dip out of class for a sec to buy some since I think theres some vending machines on campus?#idk where tho I forgor #I also do feel like I need to keep pushing forward tho since ngl I havent even touched this project before today #and I wasnt at the last class so idk I feel like I need to prove Im trying or smth #idk either way Im tired and bored and wish I was playing rainworld rn #also Im animating some of my slugcat ocs! the mama cat boon accidentally possessed and her two kids #I was originally gonna animate different characters but then I decided to stick with some simpler designs to make things faster #like I Could animate more humanoid designs but given Im already behind I dont wanna risk it #rly my biggest issue is having to animate at 24 frames per second Im more used to animating at 15 #its not too hard its just gonna be frustrating filling out the like 300 frames I need to do #obviously Im gonna pad with loops and stills this is an animation class after all the teacher will get it #but still thats a lot of frames to figure out what to do with
