#LEADING QUESTIONS
bloggedanon · 1 year
Text
Therapists, if you have an autistic patient, and you're trying to ask leading questions to get them started on a topic you two can talk about and work with, word of advice:
They may not be able to fully identify / disseminate / prioritize / verbalize their feelings or the sources for them. This can create indecision paralysis for what to talk about. If they can't answer the question of what they want to talk about, don't just rephrase the question eighty times, don't suggest coming up with a list and writing it down as a way to answer the same question they may not be able to answer. Narrow the scope of your question. Leading questions need to lead. They need to be specific and point in a specific direction for many autistics to be able to effectively follow.
Instead of asking "What's making you anxious / depressed / etc.?" if they've had a long history of mental illness and have a lot of free-floating stress, instead ask specific questions like "Is there anything you were exposed to today that you found particularly stressful?" And then go from there.

No Longer In Service
Okay
Okay
hear me out
Ghost King Danny Summoning!
The heroes fail to stop it, everyone is panicking, they feel like they’ve truly failed to stop it. etc etc
EVERYONE is ready to fight for their final life.
They’re as ready as they can be to go against something so evil JLD are scared of it.
SO when the dome that was sealing them away from the summoner finally shatters they are expecting some huge eldritch being, something made of pure nightmares... Only...
Only to find an old tape recorder in the middle of the summoning circle...
Everything is dead silent. No one moves...
Then it clicks on and makes a loud noise.
The noise?
It was the no longer in service beep.
“We’re, not, sorry.” a teenage voice began after the beep ended, startling everyone as they weren’t expecting this at all “But the Ghost King you are trying to reach is no longer in service or rather King anymore. Thus any big evil world ending plans you have made will not be approved during my reign. Please, get a life and try to actually live it because I will not be ending anyone's or mass genocide anything... Also to the really insane Fruitloop that tried summoning a being with the warning of "will cause the end of your world". I am the Ghost King now, eventually everything and everyone will enter my domain regardless of who, when, how, or why. That is something I can wait for, I got no reason to speed it up.... So have a pleasant day and enjoy being arrested or ended for doing this dumb summoning if you decided to do this in front of like everyone in your world or something... Goodbye!”
The world went silent after that.
That...
None of them were expecting that at all.

Technological Determinism according to ChatGPT
Technological determinism is a theory that posits that technology is the primary driving force behind social and cultural change. According to this theory, technology shapes and influences society, rather than the other way around.
However, technological determinism has been criticized for several reasons, including:
1. Overgeneralization: Technological determinism oversimplifies the complex interplay between technology and society. While technology does play a role in shaping and changing society, it is not the only factor. Other factors, such as politics, culture, and economics, also play a significant role in shaping the direction and impact of technological change.
2. Ignores Context: Technological determinism often ignores the context in which technology is developed, used, and adopted. The impact of technology can vary greatly depending on the social, cultural, and historical context in which it is used.
3. Technological Neutrality: Technological determinism assumes that technology is neutral and value-free, but in reality, technology is shaped by human values, biases, and interests. The development and deployment of technology is influenced by political, economic, and cultural factors, and these factors can also influence the impact of technology on society.
Empirical Evidence:
- The example of the internet: The internet is often cited as an example of the limitations of technological determinism. While the internet has certainly changed the way people communicate and access information, it has not had a uniform impact on society. The impact of the internet varies greatly depending on the social, cultural, and economic context in which it is used.
- The Green Revolution: The Green Revolution in agriculture, which introduced new technologies and practices to increase crop yields, is another example of the limitations of technological determinism. While the Green Revolution did increase crop yields, it also had unintended consequences, such as increased pesticide use and the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few large corporations.
These are just a few examples of the limitations of technological determinism. While technology does play a role in shaping and changing society, it is not the only factor, and its impact can vary greatly depending on the context in which it is used.
Regenerate response
Prompt: What are some of the fundamental flaws of technological determinism, and please provide empirical evidence.

My biggest beef with the way Annabeth was written in the show is that I think Rick fell into his own trap. Like his whole thing with Annabeth is that just because someone doesn’t look smart doesn’t mean they aren’t. And while it’s about their literal looks for both the show and the book, book Annabeth also sometimes acted in ways that people wouldn’t stereotypically associate with “smart” because I think we’ve all be condition to think bbc sherlock no emotions genius is the only way to be smart. Book Annabeth acts super flustered around Luke because she's a kid and she has a crush on him, she's afraid of spiders, and wanted to see the arch just because she thought it was cool. In general book Annabeth is allowed to be sillier and have a wider range of emotions than show Annabeth without it detracting from the fact that Annabeth is smart. I find this whole "stoic genius" idea is often used to put down teenage girls for being dumb and superficial just because they show emotions and the only way to beat it is to be cold, calculating, and emotionless and most people just aren't like that.

George Martin, 2013: "In a very basic level winter is coming for all of us. I think that’s one of the things that art is concerned with: the awareness of our own mortality. “Valar morghulis” – “All men must die”. That shadow lies over our world and will until medical science gives us all immortality… but I don’t think it makes it necessarily a pessimistic world. Not any more pessimistic than the real world we live in. We’re here for a short time and we should be conscious of our own mortality, but the important thing is that love, compassion and empathy with other human beings is still possible. Laughter is still possible! Even laughter in the face of death… The struggle to make the world a better place… We have things like war, murder and rape… horrible things that still exist, but we don’t have to accept them, we can fight the good fight. The fight to eliminate those things. There is darkness in the world, but I don’t think we necessarily need to give way to despair. One of the great things that Tolkien says in Lord of The Rings is “despair is the ultimate crime”. That’s the ultimate failing of Denethor, the Steward of Gondor, that he despairs of ever being able to defeat Sauron. We should not despair. We should not go gentle into that good night".
JRR Tolkien, 1962 : "One reviewer once said, this is a jolly jolly book, all the right boys come home [...]- this isn't true of course, he can't have read the story. [...] Human stories are practically always about one thing, really, aren't they? Death. The inevitability of death. . . . . . (He quotes Simone de Beauvoir) 'There is no such thing as a natural death. Nothing that ever happens to man is natural, since his presence calls the whole world into question. All men must die, but for every man his death is an accident, and even if he knows it he would sense to it an unjustifiable violation.' Well, you may agree with the words or not, but those are the key spring of The Lord Of The Rings".
"Lotr is all rainbows and unicorns and Asoiaf is nihilistic and grimdark". Wrong, and wrong. In all its hope and radiance, lotr often gets very dark, and despite all the death and suffering, the hopeful moments in asoiaf shine bright. The meeting point of these two is this: having hope while in despair, and even better, refusing to give up because you have to go on despite not having any hope left.

C4-621, randomly during Ice Worm mission: Rusty is too tall for me to kiss him on the lips. What should I do? Iguazu: You seriously asking that shit right now, freelancer??? Michigan: What's this, G13? Asking for love advice from yours truly- Walter: He wasn't asking you specifically. 621, just focus on the mission at hand- Michigan: Oh, you're always like that, Walter. No time for romance or anything like that! There's a reason they called you the Heartbreaker of Ganymede! Walter: No one called me that. Michigan: I did. Snail: As riveting as your insipid soap opera drama is, can we focus on the giant mechanical horror in front of us before it kills us all. Michigan: Oh, now Arquebus's love guru's weighing in, huh? Butt out, Snail, you wouldn't know a romantic tragedy even if you starred in one. Snail: I would love to but you are all CLOGGING UP THE OPERATIONAL COMMS LINE. Michigan: Then mute it. No one wants to listen to you anwyays. Snail: I am the field commander of this operation-! C4-621, privately to Iguazu: I repeat my earlier question, as the others seem like they wouldn't give good answers. Iguazu: ... Iguazu: Just punch him in the stomach, then kiss him when he doubles down. C4-621: Okay. Rusty, wondering if everyone forgot he's on the comm line too: ...

De-aged and injured Danny
Danny is found out by his parents. They don't take it well.
Clockwork is very upset about this, because he'd gambled on almost-certain odds of them being chill about it. So now he has to run damage-control before this very unlikely time-line goes even further off the deep end.
Unfortunately, Danny needs to be in the living world, not the Infinite Realms. Which means that Clockwork needs to put Danny somewhere safe. Somewhere where nobody will find him.
And double-unfortunately, the only place that remotely fits this bill is to contact Lady Gotham.
City-spirits aren't... super-reliable. They're Neverborns who very very rarely consider "humanoid shapes" worth figuring out. So they just kind of... exist. An ectoplasmic presence that's undeniable, but also extremely difficult to have a conversation with.
Thankfully, Lady Gotham is (for all of her... quirks) generally very hero-aligned. Which is why she's the best one to ask for sanctuary for Danny.
Danny who Clockwork de-aged as a way to "limit his injuries" of being vivisected.
Lady Gotham agrees, but she only has one "safe place" to put him. And her Knight is a little bit too paranoid for her to just dump an injured child in his lair, without causing more trouble than it's worth.
But it's hardly a difficult thing, to arrange a few things, and place Danny in a spot where his injuries will cause her Knight to hurry to his aid.
Such as... in a room filled with medical equipment, right next door to where Joker has just lost a fight with Batman.
Things escalate somewhat when Batman finds him and makes some assumptions about what Joker has been up to. Tempers run a bit high, someone loses a few extra teeth, someone else has to physically drag Bruce off Joker's body before he beats him to death, and the Joker considers the whole thing a grand old laugh (he has no idea what's going on, but it sure pissed off Batty, and that's always a treat).
Of course, the Batfam has to actually investigate the scene, evacuate Danny, give Danny medical aid, and then also ask Danny about what happened.
Danny wakes up and is very confused about a lot of things.
He's no longer being vivisected. Great. Love that part.
He's somewhere he doesn't recognize (the Batcave). Could be good, could be bad. At least the bed is pretty nice?
He's very small. This feels like a personal attack. He might not have gotten a good growth-spurt yet, but taking away what he had is cruel and unusual.
And there's a weirdo in an... armored bat-costume? Who isn't setting off his ghost-sense? What the hell kind of "normal" person wears something like that?
Still, Danny does answer the questions that Batman asks him, because... well, there's a green post-it-note in his pocket that says he shouldn't lie.
So Danny tells Batman about his parents cutting him up "for science". And Batman hears that the Joker somehow managed to hire two mad scientists who (upon the tiniest bit of suggestion from the Joker, who'd definitely seen the similarities between Danny and Jason and thought it would be a "funny prank") had leapt at the opportunity to vivisect their own son.
This is definitely worrying, because from the phrasing, they'd been "wanting to do it for a long time". And considering Danny's slow heartbeat and low body-temperature? They'd been wanting to do it because he was a meta.
So, somewhere out there (the Bats had found no trace of the two) were two deranged lunatics who wanted to cut open metas to "see how they worked".
Batman does the very reasonable thing and actually contacts the rest of the Justice League with their descriptions, just in case they'd managed to leave Gotham before the Bats had tracked them down.

An age-old Sunnyblr question has always been: How many bathrooms do Mac and Dennis have in their apartment? We’ve only ever seen Dennis', and it's clear based on the layout of the apartment that it's impossible for the door in Mac's bedroom to lead to a bathroom.
Well, what does Glenn think?
(Transcript below the cut)
Me: How many bathrooms do Mac and Dennis have in their apartment?
Glenn: Uhhhh... (Unintelligible) That's a good que—We only established one.
Me: Yeah, you've only established one.
Glenn: Mac doesn't have one in his bedroom and—
Me: No!
Glenn: So I think it's just my bedroom?
Me: Just one. So he has to use Dennis' room every time he has to—
Glenn: Yeah. Every time he poops

“i can make that” yes, now. it’s opened a new style of expression for you. it’s shown you that that expression is worthy of consideration. it is a door that has opened and you can now walk through it. why are you mad at it for doing its job.

would you say not being attracted to a certain race (for example black people) is racism or a personal preference?
I really can’t be fuck explaining how different preferences should not be compared against each other, especially when they are used to determine if someone is discriminating against another person.
Short answer: Yes, they can be and often are racist
Slightly longer answer: Even if we accept that these are racist personal preferences, the answer is not to force someone with a racist preference to just get over it and date someone that they are not attracted to as that will never remove the underlying biases that they have. People’s dating pools are not places in which we should be fighting to stop people being ‘discriminated’ against - they are highly personal. And trans people are not the only people ever to be rejected for something that they can’t change (or is very hard to change) so just get the fuck over yourselves.

I have this little headcanon cause i was reading the comic of obey me and we as mc have been given the neutral name zephyr in the very early chapters since we are a sheep and all and they want to make it inclusive since the name itself is gender neutral but I was thinking that let's say one day the curse is solved and sheep!mc gets their body back but the characters continue calling mc zephyr, what if one day someone (probably a side or secondary character) brings up the fact that "hey you know what? Your face doesn't really scream zephyr" and mc is like "yeah that's because that is not my actual given name, my actual name is ________" and the characters are like "😱😱😱" I mean they did know that this wasn't their real name since they gave it to them cause they can't just call them human and all but it's still shocking to hear it coming out of their own mouth, they would also probably coo when mc tells them their birth name because it means they learn more about their favorite person, well I mean they would coo at everything mc does regardless so-
