At six years old I was pretty much numb. My mom [sent me away] to live in L.A. [at Snoop Dogg's background singer's house] and I didn't start missing my mom until two years later. I told my mom I was ready to come home. The day I left, the house was shot up. So if I had stayed, I would have been murdered too.

youtube
After a prolonged absence from the music scene, Long Beach rapper JPThaRuler is back with a bang, marking his return with the much-anticipated release of his latest music video, "Cloccer." This comeback signifies more than just a return to the studio; it's a reclaiming of his spot in the vibrant landscape of L.A. Rap.
The Hiatus: JPThaRuler's hiatus wasn't by choice but a result of navigating legal challenges and patiently awaiting the opportune moment for his resurgence. This period, though challenging, served as a cocoon for artistic evolution, setting the stage for a phoenix-like return.
The Comeback Single: "Cloccer": "Cloccer" isn't just a track; it's a statement. The title itself suggests a meticulous observation of time, as JPThaRuler makes it clear that he's been keeping a close eye on the game. The music video serves as a visual testament to his unique style and the narrative he's weaving into the L.A. rap scene.
"One of One" Rap Style: JPThaRuler proudly boasts a rap style he dubs "One of One," signifying his commitment to authenticity and originality. In a world saturated with trends and imitations, JPThaRuler stands out by staying true to himself and his distinctive artistry.
The Long Beach Legacy: Long Beach has birthed legends in the rap game, and JPThaRuler is poised to add his chapter to this legacy. With a style that reflects the diversity and grit of his hometown, JPThaRuler's "Cloccer" is more than a song; it's a sonic embodiment of Long Beach's spirit.
Taking His Rightful Place: For JPThaRuler, the hiatus wasn't a setback; it was a setup. The stage is now set for him to take his rightful place among L.A.'s rap peers. "Cloccer" is the announcement of his return, and it's clear that he's not here to follow trends but to set his own.
Conclusion: JPThaRuler's "Cloccer" isn't just a music video; it's a testament to resilience, authenticity, and the unwavering spirit of a rapper who's ready to reclaim his throne. As the track reverberates through the streets of Long Beach and beyond, JPThaRuler's return is marked with a promise — a promise of a rap journey that's "One of One" and uniquely his own.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ countless abuse and sexual assault allegations caught up to him on Monday after he was arrested and charged following a grand jury indictment. Though he pleaded not guilty to three federal counts of sex trafficking and racketeering the following day (he’s in detention pending trial after being denied bail twice), the damage is done in the court of public opinion.
After the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York unsealed Combs’ indictment early Tuesday morning, social media wasted no time cherry-picking the most searing details — most notably the narcotics and 1,000+ bottles of baby oil and lubricant that law enforcement seized during the March raids on Combs’ properties, which were allegedly intended for his abusive sex parties, aka “freak-offs.”
The shocking information and other parts of the indictment became another point of scrutiny for Combs after his 2017 rebrand as Brother Love failed to conceal the darkest parts of his alleged disturbing behavior behind closed doors.
The U.S. attorney’s indictment of Combs appears to bolster what many have alleged about the now-disgraced music mogul for years, with alarming claims of violence and abuse going back as far as 1990.
The beginning of Combs’ end began on Nov. 16, 2023, when his ex-girlfriend and former record company artist Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a bombshell civil lawsuit under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, accusing the Bad Boy Records founder of sex trafficking, rape, physical violence, intimidation and more over a period of 10 years. Combs and Ventura settled the suit just one day later. The latter’s public claims started a domino effect in the months following when seven more women and two men — including Combs’ former producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones and another former label artist, Dawn Richard of Danity Kane and Diddy — Dirty Money — to come forward with their harrowing accusations about Combs, all of whom claimed to at some point have been assaulted, abused or threatened by him.
But Combs isn’t the only high-profile figure in the music industry whose alleged misdeeds have been exposed recently.
Shortly before Ventura filed her lawsuit last November, former music executive Drew Dixon filed a lawsuit against famed producer L.A. Reid, claiming that he harassed and sexually assaulted her twice in 2001 while she was working for him (Reid’s request to have the case thrown out was denied in August). In June, producer The-Dream was hit with a sexual assault lawsuit; his former protégé Chanaaz Mangroe accused him of rape, sex trafficking and other violent actions (the producer filed to have his suit dismissed in August). That same month, Kanye West’s former assistant, Lauren Pisciotta, sued him for alleged sexual harassment (a legal representative for the rapper claimed the lawsuit was “blackmail and extortion”). And in July, Murder Inc. Records co-founder Irv Gotti was sued for alleged rape and abuse by a woman identified only as Jane Doe (he has denied any wrongdoing).
As history has shown, a culture of abuse has run rampant at the hands of powerful men in the music industry who refuse to take accountability for any of their alleged harm. Combs claimed in December that he “did not do any of the awful things being alleged” against him before brutal surveillance footage that surfaced in May clearly showed the music executive physically assaulting Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 (Ventura detailed the same encounter precisely in her lawsuit). He later released a video apology on Instagram (which has since been removed from his page), taking “full responsibility” for his actions in the footage but for nothing else he’s been accused of.
That could change once Combs’ yet-to-be-scheduled federal sex trafficking trial begins, as his mountain of allegations is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s publicly known. Federal prosecutors’ extensive evidence of Combs’ alleged criminal enterprise will likely expose more, especially since they claim the mogul’s unlawful behavior persisted just days before his arrest.
Nonetheless, Combs’ indictment, which also cites unnamed associates and employees, signals a watershed moment many didn’t anticipate would come so soon after Ventura’s lawsuit — remember, it took over a decade for charges to come down on Jeffrey Epstein for his crimes. With prosecutors adamant about trying Combs’ case in a court of law, the American justice system has taken the first significant step toward holding the industry executive liable for his improprieties.
Now the music industry has officially been put on notice.
The public takedown of Combs is a warning to any wealthy, high-powered folks in the music space who indulge in similar criminal acts and the fearful enablers who stand by silently, unmoved and unwilling to intervene in corruption that goes on far too long. The same goes for those, like Russell Simmons, who thought fleeing could erase the horrid accusations coming from survivors who bravely went on record about the pain endured in their workplace or inflicted by their powerful employers. Evading justice only prolongs the damage, as Combs may be figuring out. But the day of reckoning, for the music industry, at least, is here, and the reign of its abusers is coming to an end.
If we as a culture are to do right by any survivors who have spoken up, we cannot stop with Combs. It’ll take more action and more listening to prosecute unscrupulous men to the fullest extent of the law. Moreover, the music industry stakeholders must commit to creating a safer environment by exiling those who continuously defame it with their deceit.

My white ass little brother is getting all the Kendrick v Drake tiktoks for some reason and has been INVESTED even without listening to rap much. He said 'have you seen the Kendrick diss stuff?????' and it was the biggest 'LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING' moment of my adult life. Had to give him all the backstory, starting with Meg!!!!
KDSHFKJSD it's genuinely like CRAZZYYY. LET ME TELL YOU SMTH FOR REAL BECAUSE MAN......
i have a lot of the thoughts on the situation because like. i think a lot of people who are only hearing the recent diss tracks don't know how deep the drake kendrick beef and speculations go !!!! like almost as far back as drakes career as a musician.... that tension is so long-standing and they mutually have several records that people have speculated have been digs about the other.
THE THING IS THEY'VE KEPT THAT RELATIONSHIP MOSTLY OUT OF PUBLIC VIEW. when kendrick dropped a verse dissing the other two in the supposed big three - it was a big deal because the three of them have had a mostly amicable relationship to outsiders. there was a rumored jcole kendrick record for years (which ill mourn forever). everyone was anticipating the response!!! jcole even made one before pulling away !!!!
when drake releasd his intial response it was like.. the first time we've heard drake actually rap in YEARS LMAOO. IT WAS CRAZY AS IS!!! but then they just kept going. AND THEN KENDRICK RELEASED DOUBLE DISSTRACKS??? the same move drake pulled when he had his beef with meek mill years ago!!!! AND THEN DRAKE RELEASED ANOTHER RESPONSE FAMILY MATTERS AND KENDRICK RELEASED MEET THE GRAHAMS WITHIN A FEW HOURS OF THAT?
it's crazy. some of the most influential musicians of the genre and kendrick, one of the greatest lyricists of the 2010's , publicly beefing in such a way is insane. it's genuinely historic in terms of rap beef. and all of kendricks tracks have crushed all of drakes - despite the fact drakes diss tracks WERE GOOD!!! if he were going up against anyone else it would hold up. but it's kendrick, pulitzer winner, so he really hasn't been able to get up since 😭😭😭
on top of that kendricks disses and generally his music are heavily intergrated with black american culture and issues - and his criticism of drake through these means can't be overlooked. again these are longstanding critiques rappers have had against drake. its largely not just about music but about black culture overall. outside of celebrity drama its unbelievably relevant in that aspect as well. and i say this as an outsider to it repeating from other people interested in it, but its just too relevant to the conversation to ignore
meet the grahams is FATAL TOO. kendrick has been consistently bringing up the industrys issues with drake as a rap artist and how it's been in contention with his upbringing in his disses and then drake brought up his family. meet the grahams is making insane allegations that supposedly kendrick has receipts for, and it's not like people haven't known drake is fucking weird. but the way meet the grahams set it up.... im not over it.... shot after shot after shot. it is nothing like 6:16 in L.A. or euphoria it is crazy to me to witness real time.
like no wonder there is so much media attention for them right now this is like. INSANE. AND I HAVE NO INVESTMENT IN EITHER OF THESE RAPPERS as much as i just have for rap and it's history. and i cant believe the direction its been going on
im wondering if this is going to be the era of drake disses releasing and im dying to see who and what has something to say because the industry has had issues with drake for YEARS. its just crazy all of it is insane

I want to nerd out for a few minutes here:
In his interview with Drumeo II said about the process of coming up with drum parts for the music:
“Most, if not, all of the time, I try to pay close attention to the vocals and figure out any specific syllables that can benefit from accents on the kit. I sometimes use the vocal line as a guide of sorts to dance in between what's being sung to. Filling in those gaps. Typically speaking, songs don't start from a particular drum part. Although, this isn't necessarily deliberate. Another element I look for when writing are any specific syncopations that the drums must match. This could be a pattern on the guitar, a breakdown of some sorts or something electronic. But I feel this takes away a lot of the guesswork when initially writing parts and provides me with a clearer idea of the song in question.”
This made me think of something.
I once saw a video by Adam Neely. It was about something in American Hip Hop Music called “scotch snaps”.
The way that we speak has something to do with the music that we write.
Here is some science stuff about what I mean. I took that from Adam's video which I will link.
This rhythm of a metrically accented sixteenth note followed by a dotted eighth note has a name. It's called the scotch snap, named because of its use in traditional Scottish song and dance, as well as the Lallans Scottish accent.
So why is this rhythm showing up so much now in American pop music?
Well, it might have something to do with how Americans speak English.
A foot is a basic unit of rhythm used in language.
A trochee is a foot that has a stressed syllable followed by a weak syllable. So, for example, Teenage, mutant, ninja, turtles. The stressed syllable in this case falls on what we might consider the musical Downbeat. In many dialects of English, the accented syllable is very short. One corpus study suggested that among European languages, English had the highest percentage of patterns with very short stressed syllables, many as short as100 milliseconds.
This number is significant in music making, because a hundred milliseconds corresponds to the length of a sixteenth note at 140 beats per minute. As L.A. Buckner on PBS Sound Field has mentioned, modern trap hip-hop tempos range from about 110 beats per minute to 140 beats per minute. So what this means is that by using the cadences of certain English trochees, we will naturally, in fact, tap trap rap Scotch snaps.
Now, the average distance between short and long sounds in a given dialect can be measured by something called the Normalized Pairwise Variability Index, otherwise known as the NPVI.
We alternate very quickly between short sounds and long sounds. Latin languages with lower NPVI, like Spanish, often use the foot of an Amphibrach, or a stressed syllable placed in between two unstressed syllables. For example, Lo siento, te quiero, el mundo, mañana. The rhythms used in modern Spanish rap follow that pattern, like in the song Mi Gente, which itself is an Amphibrach. (which leads to reageton) It would make sense that the rhythmic characteristics of languages would be reflected in the vocal rhythms of rappers and singers, right?
It just kind of makes sense.
But what's interesting is that those very characteristics might show up also in the music itself.
For example, consider the Dembo drum groove, characteristic to Caribbean-derived Spanish hip-hop and pop music. (reageton)
The English musicologist, Gerald Abraham, would write that the nature of a people's language inevitably affects the nature of its music, not only in obvious and superficial ways, but fundamentally. Some interesting new research has actually backed that up.
One study found that the NPVI of American jazz musicians and their speech patterns was reflected in their musical choices, how quickly they switched between different subdivisions.
Thank you very much Adam Neely.
I love his videos.

Mach-Hommy Explores Diasporic Duality on New Album #RICHAXXHAITIAN
Tumblr media
Mach-Hommy–the acclaimed and prolific artist who keeps his government name unpublished, maintains no social media presence, and covers his face with a bandana of the Haitian flag–releases #RICHAXXHAITIAN, his first solo studio album since 2021, out now on all platforms. Released in time for Haitian Flag Day (May 18th), #RICHAXXHAITIAN channels the troubled political evolution of Haiti, as well as its rich cultural inheritance. Galvanized by the country's turbulent past, Mach-Hommy presents a beacon towards a better future.
#RICHAXXHAITIAN is the fourth album in a tetralogy of albums that examine Mach-Hommy's relationship with his homeland and provide a wide-ranging account of how its issues intersect with problems facing the world at large. While the first album in the series, H.B.O. (Haitian Body Odor), reclaimed an ugly stereotype, and his two acclaimed 2021 albums, Pray For Haiti and Balens Cho (Hot Candles), chronicled hardship and recovery, #RICHAXXHAITIAN is a small musical panacea for his homeland amidst poverty and political strife, combating the public's negative images of Haiti by focusing on the greatness and prosperity of the country's diaspora. Over the course of the album, Mach-Hommy emphasizes the country's potential, strategizing ways that his troubled homeland could become an exemplar of Black cultural and economic excellence.
#RICHAXXHAITIAN draws from a variety of musical styles, welcoming producers like Grammy-winning producer Conductor Williams, along with Multi-Grammy-winning producer KAYTRANADA, Grammy-nominated producer Quelle Chris, longtime associate Sadhu Gold, and others, to indulge their most creative impulses. The album progresses from vintage samples from the pre-rock era to futuristic electronic, jazz, and soul music, sketching a potential path for Haiti to evolve from developing nation to Afro-Futurist paradise.
Last week's single, "#RICHAXXHAITIAN," a collaboration with KAYTRANADA and L.A. legend 03 Greedo, exemplifies Mach in the latter mode, using a house-inflected instrumental and an interpolation of Afrobeat legend Odion Iruoje's "Ikebe" to provide a luxurious platform for both emcees to flex their hard-earned wealth. Focus track "COPY COLD," produced by Quelle Chris, draws from the other end of the spectrum. The song features a guest verse from Black Thought, who has long praised Mach-Hommy and called him one of his favorite emcees, as both emcees unfurl some of their densest verses to date. Originally recorded as a demo during a difficult period of Mach's life, nearly ten years ago, Mach was inspired to dust off the old tape with the hopes of collaborating with an emcee of Black Thought's caliber on the track. Over Quelle Chris's rippling piano instrumental, the two rappers beat against the current mode of label-driven rap beef, instead elevating the art of the emcee with kindred spirit collaboration.
03 Greedo and Black Thought lead a long list of collaborators that make #RICHAXXHAITIAN one of Mach-Hommy's most ambitious albums to date. Mach connects with R&B/jazz luminary HEPHZIBAH on "SONJE," an Afro-Futurist and psychedelic highlight that approaches the dissonant highs of 70s jazz fusion. Buffalo-based activist/singer/songwriter Drea D'Nur graces "POLITickle" with her luminous vocals, putting a button on a song that directly comments on how global capitalism tramples culture and fosters poverty. Mach rolls out the red carpet for Roc Marciano on the brief, but brilliant "ANTONOMASIA," as the two underground heroes trade verses over big band jazz samples and tribal drums. Mach feels right at home when rapping with frequent collaborators like Your Old Droog, Tha God Fahim, and Big Cheeko, providing a familiar anchor for longtime fans and ice cold bars for anyone who might not be familiar with their chemistry.
Born in Newark and raised in Port-Au-Prince amongst the elders of his culture, Mach-Hommy has always strongly identified with his home country's struggle, and his people's resilience. Haiti was the world's first Black republic formed as the result of a successful slave revolt. The Caribbean nation's very existence was a thumb in the nose of white supremacy, heralding the gleaming potential of Black self-government in the new world. Of course, the colonial powers could not let this stand: shortly after Haiti won independence, its former colonial overlord France levied a punitive tax, designed to cripple the young nation's economy and prevent it from growing into a power in the Caribbean. Still, despite the various man-made and natural disasters that have plagued the island nation over the centuries, the people of Haiti have grown strong, developing an influential cultural tradition and a vibrant diaspora, of which Mach-Hommy is a proud member.
Attempting to transform our modern dystopia into a utopia using only his rhymes and force of will, Mach-Hommy invites us all, from his most loyal investors to his freshest fans, to imagine a brand new world. With #RICHAXXHAITIAN, that seemingly impossible dream creeps ever closer.
“I’ve always wanted to rep for Haiti and the cultural and intellectual richness we’ve provided the world,” Mach-Hommy says. “From our musical styles like kontradans  that have influenced world music, our natural resources which provide so much raw  material for so many important advancements in technology, our thinkers that  pioneered philosophical movements and Black pride, and our spiritual leaders who  kept the religious traditions of Guinea alive and intact, the religious traditions of Ayiti….”

Random Lookism Thoughts that I Get During Class:
(Whenever I daydream during class, I always think of these random scenarios or if they were real, they’d probably do these things IRL.)
Vasco: He would be heard singing One Direction with the rest of the Burn Knuckles crew in the hallway at school, especially the song What Makes You Beautiful.
Daniel Park: He’d be fine with helping his female friends out, by making him their makeup model to try different shades of makeup whenever he gets dragged into a makeup store with them, like in Sephora
Jay Hong: He’s the type of guy who’d gladly help you in finding puzzle pieces for a picture. Also, he’d be good at playing charades. (Only when acting out the topic.)
Samuel Seo: The type of mf to act like he can beat the shit out of everybody in a MMA ring but then cries at home after just losing one round to a professional. (Or maybe he’d get disqualified off the bat for not following the rules because we all know this man is a walking time bomb.)
Johan Seong: This guy acts like he’s the shit but then doesn’t even know what’s the shit. For instance, he claims to know all of the Tik Tok trends that Zack shows him, but doesn’t even have Tik Tok.
Zack Lee: The type of guy to think that Africa is a country. (Or England is his city. Mira had to correct him every time. LMAO) Also, he might think Drake’s music is top tier and you might catch him trying to sing “One Dance” to Mira.
Vin Jin: Let’s be honest. We all have a feeling that he’d be a rising underground SoundCloud rapper with his 50 followers on SoundCloud. His inspirations would probably be K-Hip Hop rappers such as ZICO, Jay Park, Flowsik, etc. (or anyone in H1GHR Music). And his fashion sense would probably be inspired by Dumbfoundead, who was inspired by American East L.A. hip hop. (You can see from Vin Jin’s previous outfits in older Lookism chapters, with his snapback cap, black hoodie, plaid shirts and gold chain)
Jake Kim: This dude would definitely bring the entire Big Deal crew to Disneyland, but they would be stuck in the entrance checkpoint since he was thinking of just barging in there for free. Even Jerry wore Mickey ears and was hoping to get into Disneyland that day.
Kouji: This kid would have trolled people online by causing unnecessary arguments and debates on Reddit, and would later dox them and expose their personal information on Reddit, 4chan, etc. (And maybe sell people’s personal info to shady people on the Dark Web for a good amount of cash.) His hobby would be looking into internet mysteries, such as Cicada 3301.
Eli Jang: He’d be Insta-famous and would probably have like 100k followers, getting a bunch of promotion offers (Men’s Fashion Nova). Sally and the rest of the Hostel girls would help Eli dress up for his “photoshoots” even though it’s just them taking pics of Eli in different places. One of his main hobbies would be looking at popular hair trends on Instagram, to try them out at his work.
Joon Goo Kim: He would secretly be an anime fan. If he started watching anime, he’d definitely choose Demon Slayer first then become a fan. He’ll even buy and collect weapons from anime that he’d watch including those from Naruto, Bleach, and Jujutsu Kaisen. (Update: He’d definitely be a Gojo fan. They’re similar in a way.)
Jong Gun Park: You’d probably catch him in the UFC gym, training and working out. But then will end up causing a blood bath in the gym when he goes on a crazy fighting spree, just by punching people who he thinks are strong. You might see this man in a video on Worldstar or on a random Tik Tok video by an ordinary civilian.

Third Love
Ch: 3 El Boracho
Pairing: Eddie x Mexican Female Reader
Word Count: 4.3k
Summary: Eddie tries to win over your affection and use you in hopes of getting signed to your dads record company. There's just one problem. Your situationship and a heartbreaking past that threatens to expose the darker side of you.
CW: MDNI 18+ flashbacks, mental illness, smut (fingering, bjs) Modern au Eddie, fuckboy Eddie. Spanish words. Reader with other man (not cheating). Eddie with other girl, gave you a cute lil nickname cuz youre a sweetie. 🍑
Finding a day that both you and Eddie were free turned out to be harder than you thought. He still managed to send you text messages. His sweet Good Morning message brought a smile to your face and his play by play of how his day was going made you feel like you two knew each other more than a weekend.
Your schedule was already tight with zoom meetings and studio time. A particular Rapper had a falling out with the label, stating creative differences and unprofessionalism by the label. In other words the Artist was defying the requests to create a radio friendly track while also claiming his royalties weren't reflecting the millions he was bringing the company. Word Had gotten around that this Artist was money hungry and ungrateful for the success he had attained in such a short time. Everywhere you looked and social media was stretching the truth, and cancel culture was not giving up on him.
"Dad, you can't take him off the label. Austin can blend into multiple genres, right now the rap world thinks he's a clown. But If i can convince him to cut his hair and do this Nirvana cover set the rock world will embrace him with open arms."
A sigh leaves your dads lips as he looks out from the 13th floor of his office. Tall glass windows brighten the room, L.A. traffic and high rise towers surround the building. You sit on one of the many couches where contracts are signed, and famous musicians cheer to their success. Gold and platinum albums cover the walls, a photo of your parents sits on your dads large mahogany desk. Soon this would be your office and you wonder what photos would make it to your desk. A best friend maybe, or perhaps a lover, possibly both.
"This whole Company is going to be your responsibility soon. If you think Austin can turn this around without getting canceled then do what you have to do. But if it fails then the possibility of more failed artists will run this place to the ground, and that'll be on your shoulders."
You thank your dad for trusting you to deal with Austin and assure him you'll be home to cook him his favorite meal, just like how your mom did. You're half way out of his office when his following question has you stopping in your tracks.
"Mija wait. Have you told Sebastian about the contract?"
Almost all the talent you were seeing thought that your Dad was the only person to offer them a contract when in reality it was you. Your dad handled the office work and mostly stayed behind the scenes where lawyers and financial advisers were involved.
You knew first hand how the singers or bands commanded a crowd. How talented or how much work needed to be done to get them to a level where they'd bring a profit to the company. As a band Glass House wasn't ready yet. Sebastian as a front man was incredibly talented. You just didn't have the heart to tell him that his friends were keeping him back.
"They're not ready yet." You replied, closing the door behind you. As you reach the elevator doors and press the G button for the garage, you quickly send Austin a message. "You owe me big time."
~~~~~~~~~
After finding out that Max was your roommate Eddie had asked if she would meet him for coffee to talk about how her trip with Lucas went. Not to get some personal information about you. Nope. That wasn't like him, he would never betray your trust that way. Or would he?
The delicious scent of coffee grounds and vanilla filled the crowded shop. People in business attire stood at the order pick up line, glancing at the names of drinks that had been served. Eddie's tight black jeans and cut off sleeves of his shirt was a stark contrast to the suits and ties that were gathered as he walked up to grab his drinks.
"Since when do you get cold brews Red?" He asked, sliding her the vanilla cream cold brew she ordered. "Since my roommate made me try one of hers." She took a sip of her drink, humming in approval of its bitter but sweet taste. Coffee order, check. Eddie took a sip of his Americano, "You didn't tell me you had a roommate." He questioned. "She's hardly home because of work, and she spends the night with her boyfri–" She cuts herself off and shakes her head. "Sorry, not boyfriend. Actually, that reminds me Lucas wanted me to give you some nerd D&D stuff. Left it at the apartment though."
It was wrong and he knew it. He followed Max to her apartment, knowing it was also your apartment. Hesitancy written all over his face as he walked into your safe space. Bright light filtered through large windows. Planters and hanging pots decorated the space. A money tree with three thick roots spiraled together giving home to large green leaves sat in the corner by another window. He knew Max didn't care for plants so this love of greenery must be yours. He walked over to the bookcase in the living room, it was large and filled to the brim. "These are all yours?" He asked as Max sauntered to the kitchen in search of some snacks. "Nope. All roomies." She replied.
Eddie slowly glanced at the titles, tracing his finger along the spines. He plucked one from the shelf and smiled to himself, A Game of Thrones, book one to a series of 7. You liked fantasy, he thought as he placed the book back in place. "Have a seat. I gotta look for the damn manual in all my junk." Max explained, throwing Eddie a smuckers peanut butter jelly sandwich. "Yeah yeah take your time." He replied, secretly asking for more time to roam through your home. Eddie watches as Max bounces over to her room and he wonders which one was yours. He sat at the couch, eyes wandering every little corner, memorizing the small details of your apartment. For knowing Max as long as he did he knew all her likes and dislikes so it was easy for him to decipher her hobbies from yours. Gaming consoles filled the space under your TV, A Ps5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, guess no PC games for you. On the wall behind the couch a painting caught his attention. A man Eddie assumed was a warrior, large orange feathers held in place by a thick gold band rested on his head. Armour draped over his shoulders and down the center of his chest leaving his torso and arms bare. Animal leather draped along his waist as a loincloth. Physique sculpted like a God. He carried a curvy woman in his arms, she wore a white dress and a flower in her hair, she was dead and this warrior carried her down a large mountain. At the bottom of the beautiful painting are the words Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, he couldn't even sound out the words but wrote them down in his phone to google later.
Eddie took steps toward the hallway, his heart beating faster than normal as he stood outside your room. His hand held onto the door knob to your bedroom, this was crossing a line. Invading your privacy like no one had ever done. The bed you slept in at night, that housed your nightmares, all your delicate clothes and personal belongings just on the other side of this door. Photos of your father and your beloved mother sit at your nightstand where you'd silently cry into your pillow begging to turn back the hands of time for one more minute with her. Detailed notes and revised contracts of future artists litter your desk, a calendar of all your past and future events hang on the wall above. Multiple medications fill the medicine cabinet of your bathroom, antidepressants, anxiety, pain pills and sleep aids to name a few. Medications that no one knew about except your father. Small beads of sweat gather around his hairline as he thought of entering without your knowledge. He tightened his grip on the door, his breath deepend causing his chest to visibly rise and fall. The thundering beat of his heart heard loud through his ears, blocking out the good vs bad thoughts if he were to enter your room. If Eddie entered your room, all your deepest secrets and pain would be delivered to him on a silver platter. Your Mothers passing, your Fathers business, your brother's trip to your family's homeland, the mere fact that you had a brother. The real reason Sebastian was involved so much in your life, all details about you lay just beyond the door.
A shaky breath escaped from his lips as Eddie released the door. He did want to get to know you, just not like this. Not veiled in deceit and lies.
"Bathrooms over here."
Eddie jumped at the sound of Max's voice just behind him.
"Dammit Red, scared the shit outta me." He chuckled, clutching his chest in surprise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You didn't get home till almost 11pm, dragging your feet up the steps of your apartment. The comfort of your bed softly calls you towards it. The soft glow of the living room brought your mind some sense of peace, you were finally home. You shuffled to your door, eyes drowsy with sleep. Searching for the key to your room, the sound of metal grinding the tile floor was heard as you looked down to your feet, a shiny chain peeked from beneath your shoe. You leaned down and cradled it in your hand, a silver chain with a red and black Fender pick hung from its length. On one side the initials EM delicately carved the surface, and CC on the other. Too exhausted to think much of it, you pocketed it in your jacket and turned in for the night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eddie had called you everyday leading up to your date night. The conversations were usually quick, a hurried 'have a good day' and a 'don't forget your lunch.' It was sort of domestic you thought, but you welcomed it as it made you feel cared for. Tonight Eddie had asked if it was ok to facetime you, which you nervously accepted.
You sat in the living room of your Dads house, when your phone rang the screen came to life as the name 'Eddie' was displayed. You answered with a shy "hello" as Eddie's beautiful face filled your phone screen. His long dark curls framed his pale face and his wide smile brought a tiny flush to your cheeks. "Hey, Princess Peach" he greeted. His deep voice rattled your nerves and the sweet pet name had you smiling into your phone. How was he able to pull a smile from just a greeting you had no idea. Eddie's eyes roamed over your shoulder and you informed him that you were at your Dads house. "I've never seen a house so huge, Quick tour perhaps?"
"Oh, yeah of course." You agreed, getting up from the couch and walking up the stairs. You gave him a glimpse of the foyer from the top of the stairs and Eddie gasped. White marbled floors and a wrought iron staircase circled both sides of the room, in the center a white grand piano gave the entryway a luxurious look. Eddie swallowed, and he all of a sudden realized that you were way above his social status. Your Dad must be a Billionaire if not then for sure a Millionaire. Not even Steve's house, the wealthiest person he knew had a foyer. Shaking the uncertainty from his face he focused on the piano. "You play piano? Or any instrument?." He asked, genuinely curious. You threw your head back and your boisterous laugh echoed in the room. "I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you. It's just. I was a producer before, and yeah, I can play many instruments." Eddie beamed at the knowledge. You continued down the hall and motioned to a bedroom. "This is my room." You continued walking, not bothering to open the door. "Whoa whoa, I don't get to see where the magic happens?" He chuckled, raising his eyebrows suggestively. You smiled at your phone and bit into your bottom lip. "Maybe after our date, but only if you're a good boy." Eddie's eyes widened at your flirtatious gesture, and he hoped to God you meant it.
"Don't tease me with a good time sweetheart cuz I'll hold you to it."
He smirked and your stomach knotted as he licked his lips.
You dip your chin towards your shoulder and cover your smile with your hand. "Don't get shy on me now baby, I wanna see that pretty smile." He cooed.
When the word Baby left his lips you knew you were in trouble. He looked so pretty even through the screen, prettier than you remembered. The sparkle in his warm eyes, and the crinkles when he smiled made your heart beat a little faster. You talked for hours about everything and anything. From your favorite childhood movies to Game of Thrones, which he mentioned was an amazing show. Your favorite foods which brought you to cook dinner while the phone sat in the corner. His curious eyes watching you carefully cut into various vegetables and beef, all the ingredients needed to make the caldo as you explained to him. Eddie's lips parted as you brought a spoonful of soup to your mouth, gently puckering your lips to blow at the steam that swirled from the hot liquid. He didn't know if his mouth watered at the delicious meal you made or the image of your lashes fluttering closed as your glistening lips wrapped around his–
"Mmmmm, so good." You hummed, interrupting his dirty thoughts.
"Yeah? That actually looks tasty, can't wait to try some." He hinted. Hoping to be a taste tester for any and all cuisine made by your skilled hands.
"Did your Mom show you how to cook?" He asked.
Time stood still. Your eyes focused on nothing as your mind went back to all the times you leaned over your moms shoulder eyeballing spices, and dancing to Vicente Fernandez as she swayed her hips belting out gritos that sounded like a cat dying. You and your brother's coughing fits paired with faux asphyxiation whenever she'd roast chili peppers on the stove. The thoughtful way she'd buy extra hominy for the menudo during holidays because she knew it was your favorite part.
"Peach?"
You blink back to the present as you wipe at a stray tear that escaped your lash line. "Um, yeah. She taught me how to cook." You utter, not trusting the wobble in your voice.
"That's really sweet of her, passing down those family traditions. I don't know how to cook much but I do love to eat." He says, rubbing his hand over his tummy. Eddie carries the conversation effortlessly, not one moment of silence between you. You learn that he's incredibly charming, laughs at almost everything, therefore making you laugh. He's fond of squishmellows and has to stop to look at every one he sees and do a squish test. He's not once brought up anything involving music or the usual, which celebrities are rude and is so and so really that obnoxious or is it an act, something that you're incredibly grateful for.
You're curled up on the couch, phone propped by the throw blanket bunched up over your tummy. Eddie is sprawled out on his bed, chucking pretzels in the air and catching them in his mouth. "That's five in a row." You yawn, eyes heavy with sleep.
"I should let you get some sleep sweetheart, It's late." He coos.
"Can you stay on the line with me? Please?"
"Of course I can Baby."
The sleepiness in your voice gives him a glimpse of what it would be like to sleep next to you. When you finally fall under the spell of the midnight sky, where the only light is bouncing off the glow from your phone, Eddie thinks you're just as beautiful sleeping as you are awake. He falls asleep staring at your cute nose and plush lips, wishing he was there to kiss you goodnight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We're Corroded Coffin, Thank You and enjoy the rest of your night."
Eddie jumped off stage, buzzing with adrenaline and booze as he walks straight to two girls who had flashed him during their set. He walks between them, one arm over their shoulders as he orders enough drinks from the bar to regret it in the morning. Their hands roam the expanse of his body, fingers twirled around his tousled curly hair as they whisper and giggle in his ear. You arrive at the same bar, Max had invited you to see her friend's band play, not for work she mentioned, just to hang out and have fun. It also happens that Sebastian's friends are also on the roster tonight, which is why he walks in beside you, palm at the small of your back leading you to the bar for drinks. While Sebastian orders the drinks you leave his side in search of a restroom. The bartender motions backstage behind these two doors.
You stumble into a room that was rarely occupied. Deep grunts barely audible through the loud blaring music. The bartender at the front mentioned that it was behind these doors so you pushed through and you gasp, body frigid as the scene before you.
"Oh fuck, just like that sweetheart."
Eddie has a strawberry blonde on her knees between his thighs, hard cock shoved half way down her throat, a topless bleach blonde at his side licking into his mouth while his fingers pump into her dripping sex. "Get the fuck out." He seethes, not once looking towards the door.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." You spoke as you quickly turned away to scurry out of the room. Eddie's head snapped towards your paniced voice quick enough to see half of your face, and his stomach dropped. "Wait, Wait! it's not… fuck!" Eddie's voice strained as he pushes the girl off his cock. Shoving his dick back in his jeans to chase after you. You were able to make it back to the bar, leaving the restroom for a later time.
Eddie frantically searched for you in the crowded room, cursing himself in the process. He hadn't even take you out on a date yet and he was already fucking up. Afraid you had run out of the bar, he grabbed the nearest stool, stood on it and scanned the room till he found your beautiful face smiling with a group of your friends. He weaves through the crowd desperate to get to you, his rough hand reaching for your elbow. He leans in close to your ear so his words are not mistaken. "Can I please talk to you?" You crane your neck over your shoulder to meet Eddie's pleading eyes. A fake smile on display as you agree.
You follow Eddie outside, stepping into the cold night air. A shiver runs through your body as you stand under the glow of a lamp post. Eddie trails his eyes over the curves of your body. His eyes walk up your smooth bare legs, that he wishes he could touch. The black short shorts accentuate the curve of your hips and plush ass. His lips sting with the urge to kiss the curve of your waist, as his gaze ghosts over your exposed midriff. Eddie swallows as he now realizes your top is see through and your breasts sit perky in your black bra. You cross your arms over your chest, suddenly feeling too naked under his stare. His eyes finally meet yours and he's left speechless at the sight of you. The girls he was with don't even compare to your beauty, yet he agreed to indulge them 1 day before your date was supposed to happen.
"I'm sorry you –. They're not –." A sigh left his lips as his palm roughly dragged across his face.
"They're just a hook-up, nothing serious. I'm so fucken sorry."
"It's ok." You shrug, arms crossed over your midsection for warmth. He takes notice of your shivers and places his leather jacket over your shoulders.
"It's ok?" He repeats your words, brows pinches in confusion. Every girl that Eddie knew would be screaming at him with angry mascara streaks running down their hot cheeks, livid in jealousy. Some would claw and scratch at him begging why they weren't good enough, hitting him and calling him every ugly name in the book. But not you.
You stood tall, seemingly unbothered by what you had seen. Eddie stepped forward expecting you to step back. You stay planted, cautious eyes set on his guilty ones. He would prefer retaliation because the words you would speak would pain him more than a few scratches.
"You're not my boyfriend Eddie, and you're a Rockstar; they're all the same."
You look down at Eddie's hands. His fingers are twitching with the undeniable urge to touch you. The sound of the bar doors open and a tall figure steps out.
"There you are Kitten, I've been looking for you."
Eddie's Jaw clenches at the pet name, and he shakes his head in disbelief. How could he be green with jealousy if not even 20 minutes ago his cock was down another girl's throat.
Sebastian laces his fingers with yours and brings your hand up to his lips for a gentle peck to the back of your hand. You smile at his tenderness, and brush your shoulder against his chest. Eddie rolls his eyes, shooting daggers at his competition. He notices the need in Sebastian's stare, he glimmers with fondness and longing to be something more.
"Who the fuck is she?!" A screeching voice could be heard in the distance, and Eddie tightly closed his eyes, wishing the ground would swallow him up. This was not happening. He was fucking it all up before it even started. Cursing under his breath at the cards that were being played for him. A glance over Eddie's shoulder and you see Strawberry girl storming towards you.
Before she can reach you Eddie stands between you, hands gripping her arms, blocking her from attacking you. Sebastian pulls you behind him and it makes Eddie's stomach churn. It should be him shielding you from this groupie but instead it's his fault shes speaking to you. You try shoving Sebastian away attempting to confront the girl but his tall frame is immovable.
"Stop, just stop Chrissy." Eddie winces at the name. Surely a slip of the tongue. A loud crack is heard, as Strawberry girl's hand meets the side of Eddie's cheek. "It's kristie asshole!!" She yells, storming back into the bar, wobbly legs threatening to fold under her. Eddie's relieved to get rid of her and as he looks back to search for you he comes face to face with Sebastian's hard glare.
"Stay away from her." He orders, as he shoves Eddie's jacket to his chest.
Sebastian jogs back catching up to you, placing his hand on the small of your back guiding you to his car. You wrap your arm around his waist and Sebastian pulls you in a side hug.
Eddie watches at a distance as you both enter the car, Sebastian is seen waving his arms and hands around seemingly in a heated discussion. Eddies about to walk over to you when he sees Sebastian grip the back of your neck as he brings your lips to his in a deep kiss. Eddie has no right to be upset but seeing this man touch you and kiss you has him seeing red. Eddie knew he fucked up but he was determined to make it up to you. Just as Eddie turns his back away, you push at Sebastians chest and when his lips try to chase yours you turn away giving him your cheek instead.
Eddie finds himself back at the bar, drowning in whiskey and coke wondering if you'll find yourself in Sebastians bed. The thought alone churns his stomach, but he has no one to blame but himself. After his 4th drink, liquid courage raced through his veins and therefore the beginning of his drunk text messages.
Eddie: You never tolf me if Sebastan was your boyfriend
Eddie: he actz lik e your boyffiend
Eddie: is he youre fuckimg boyfriend!!
Eddie was right, you did end up in Sebastians bed that night. His warm body curled up behind you, anxious hands caressing and kneading your thighs, fingers gripped your hips pulling you close to rub against his clothed erection. He kissed your bare shoulder, gently moving your hair to the side to place wet kisses along your neck, inhaling the scent of your shampoo that lingered in your hair. The bright glow of your phone stopped him from going further. Skinny fingers punched in your password as your soft breathes deepend, indicating you were now fully asleep. Sebastian looked over the messages Eddie sent you and sadness consumed him. He didn't understand why you couldnt reciprocate his adoration for you. To him you were it, his end goal and the woman of his dreams. He never once looked at other girls, despite having groupies throw themselves at him. He never looked for other relationships even though you clearly made yourself available to other men, sure you two weren't official but he still stayed loyal to you. He told you many times that he would never let you go, he'd wait for you for as long as it took. He types out a message and sends it to Eddie hoping it would steer him away from you.
You: He's not my boyfriend yet, but we do fuck.

Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, tweeted out an unfounded conspiracy theory Sunday morning about the attack on the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from a website that has a history of publishing false information.
Musk responded to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she tweeted out an L.A. Times story about how the suspect in the attack on Paul Pelosi, David DePape, spread far-right conspiracy theories.
"There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye," Musk wrote to Clinton, linking to a story published on a right-wing website called the Santa Monica Observer that questioned the circumstances of the attack on Pelosi, according to an archived version of the story. (The website was no longer accessible late Sunday morning.)
As of late Sunday morning, Musk's tweet had more than 24,000 retweets and more than 86,000 likes, and was quickly gaining more traction.
The fact-checking website Media Bias/Fact Check rates the Santa Monica Observer as a "questionable source" based on "the routine publication of false and misleading information and the use of poor sources."
Media Bias/Fact Check said the website's article on the Pelosi attack "appears to be fake and defamatory."
Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from NBC News.
The Santa Monica Observer has also published other fake stories that falsely reported that former Secretary Clinton died in the September 11, 2001 attacks and had been using a body double since then, and that Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, was appointed to a non-existent position in the Department of the Interior under former President Donald Trump.
The publisher of the website, David Ganezer, unsuccessfully ran for Santa Monica City Council in 2010 and 1988, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press. He is currently a registered Republican, voting records show.
Musk's tweet comes just days after his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter was finalized. Musk has said he will loosen rules about what kind of speech is allowed on the platform. That vow has prompted concerns that the changes could drive users and advertisers from the site.
DePape attacked Pelosi, 82, with a hammer after breaking into their California home early Friday. The suspect was searching for the House Speaker, who was in Washington, D.C. at the time, two sources told NBC News.
Police arrived after Pelosi called 911 when the suspect wasn't looking.
Pelosi suffered a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands, according to Drew Hammill, spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He underwent successful surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, Hammill added Friday.
Police said DePape will be charged with attempted homicide, among other charges. Officials have said they are still working to determine a motive in the attack.

A reality show created in 2011 that showcases struggling rappers and the random fights they get into, while also featuring some questionable vocals on their way to a possible music career. The show puts a spotlight on infidelity and its complications.
A web of lascivious affairs are shown, revealing not just a weaved web of deceit, but also weaves on the ground, from being, at times, pulled. Edges are, at various times, also snatched in this sordid tale. Mona Scott Young has created a telenovela for the inner city - and the promise that working hard can book you a studio session, despite the barrier of no talent.
It's also a PSA for the dangers of entanglement resulting in babymotherdom. Unequally yoked unions are a rampant problem not only in New York, but also in L.A., Miami, and Atlanta. This is a ghetto armageddon that will entertain the whole family, and encourage you to reach just a little bit further into your drawer of condoms when you're caked up with your mistress - or breaking up with her because Love & Hiphop has taught you a true lesson in commitment.

Q&A with Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs of  Blindspotting
[...] Let’s start with you Rafael! You directed for your first time last season and you directed a lot more this new season. How are you feeling about that?
Casal: I’m feeling great! I’ve wanted to direct for a long, long time. I’ve directed a lot of short form stuff and [getting] the trust from a studio to direct an episodic is a big, big hurdle. It’s hard to get into the DGA (Directors Guild of America). And so it was great to go through season one and get to watch a lot of other directors direct on our show and see how they do it. Take the parts I liked and leave the things that I didn’t and see what the challenge is and then I’m in at the end and direct the final episode. And in season two, not only did they let me direct half the season, but we managed to use that momentum a bit to let Jess Wu Caulder, one of our other Executive Producers, direct two episodes. Season two is a really exciting chapter because so much of it is directed by people who have been a part of the project for 17 years.
[...] I wanted to know your thoughts on that criticism that it didn’t accurately or closely enough represent the Bay Area.
Casal: I don’t know that there’s ever gonna be a way for the show to accurately represent the Bay Area. That’s like, what movie accurately represents New York? Whose New York? We also haven’t had TV shows like this before. People have been growing up in the Bay their whole lives wondering what the TV show would be like in their head if they ever got to make it. I can’t make that show that’s in your head. It’s a show starring all women and it’s about women. It’s not gonna be The Wire. If you want The Wire go and make The Wire. [Snowfall] exists. You should watch that shit! Our show is our show. I hope it passes on permission for other people to make their show. The Bay Area has an atmosphere of hate that you got to break through. Where we came up as rappers, we’re used to that. We’re used to people talking shit while you’re also making some of the dopest shit of your career. And the fans that love it from the Bay — which is in abundance — love the shit out of the show. The show is for them and if it ain’t for you, it ain’t for you.
Diggs: It’s also never been easy to make a show about being from the Bay. We’ll start seeing more and more. We just saw the premiere of the Boots [Riley] show at South by Southwest. It’s another great show about the Bay. This world can continue to get bigger and that’s cool. It’s nice to be a part of that. There are a million stories we could tell about this place and a million different ways to tell them. I hope somebody does them all. I love this show that we made. You know who it is for? Me. I love this show. We made the shit out of this show.
[...] Then last question, tell me what you’re grateful for today.
Diggs: We’re having a little premier celebration in L.A. today. I’m like super grateful that in a couple hours, I’m gonna actually be in the same room with my brother [Rafael] and with a bunch of the other people who make this show because I’ve made art with my friends. I don’t get to see my friends very often so I’m very, very grateful to see my friends today.
Casal: I’m happy, healthy, thriving. Always grateful for that.

Ice Cube Calls Out Barack Obama, Tells Tucker Carlson 'Nothing Changed'

Tucker on Twitter
It's not only politics that makes for strange bedfellows -- Ice Cube's unloading on Barack Obama, Black Lives Matter, COVID-19 vaccines and more ... with, of all people, Tucker Carlson.
The duo rolled through South L.A. together for an episode of Tucker's show on Twitter -- and they quickly found common ground on several topics ... starting with former President Obama. Cube said he was proud America had elected a Black man, and thought maybe "this guy is gonna be the guy."
But, ultimately Cube feels Obama -- like all of his White House predecessors -- did nothing to change his life.
Tucker and the rapper/actor also bro'd out on BLM ... Cube's criticism being the org didn't improve things for the Black people he knows and loves, while Tucker's voice-over and editing attacked BLM for allegedly misappropriating millions of dollars.
Interestingly, Tucker -- a staunch and vocal proponent of police -- never asked Cube about writing the song "F**k Tha Police." 🤔 Interesting.
Perhaps the most cringe moment came when Carlson referred to Ice Cube as one of the "least obedient" celebs in Hollywood. To be fair, it was a lead-in to Cube not getting the COVID vaccine -- something upon which they fully agree -- but, still ... poor choice of words?
