Wow what a throwback to see the DBSK video on my dash!! I wasn't there for their debut but I was a fan all through high school, even had the mirotic CD and DVD tour that I sold a while ago. I wouldn't call myself a Kpop fan though as I've never listenned to or followed any Kpop group aside from them. Jaejoong was my fav so I followed Jyj for a while, jae's carreer in dramas and had his first solo album before life got busy and then I moved on to other fandoms. I remember seeing and downloading so many videos from them back then from live performances and concerts to TV appearances and those few cringe dramas in their early days that included fangirls screams haha. I also remember about yunjae but wasn't that invested as I didn't have tumblr or any social media then just youtube and forums for dl links. Anyway it's 5am and I can't sleep even though my alarm will only ring in two hours but your post brought me a smile and a wave of nostalgia so thank you!!

Super Show 9 fucked me up. So incredibly good. My first super junior concert was ss4 in 2011. Back then, d&e didn't exist and no one had had a solo debut yet. The only subunits were sj-t, sj-h and sj-m — the only surviving part of those units is rokkugo. Since then sj has put out so much music. D&E officially debuted after their ss4 stage, kyuhyun, ryeowook and yesung had solo debuts, kry released an album and even eunhyuk had a solo debut with "be". Watching ss9 last night, this all hit me and I felt such gratitude and pride towards super junior for continuing to create and perform such amazing music.

A ⇴ AFFECTION 

His height meant Changmin was a great hugger with you. He’d bundle you tightly in his arms and make you feel tiny against his chest. He’d always rest over you and make sure that he emphasised the height difference between you both too.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING 

You ended up dropping your bag as you were walking one afternoon when a figure knelt down to help pick up your items. When you came face to face with Changmin, your stomach instantly dropped as you were drawn to his smile and his eyes. He quickly introduced yourself as you thanked him for helping you out.

C ⇴ CONFESSION 

It took quite a while for Changmin to feel confident enough to confess to you, he knew he had to be sure that you were happy and willing to take on his crazy world and do it with a smile on your face. He was at an age where if he started a relationship, he was in it for the long run, so it was only when he was sure that he could see a future with you as well, did he finally decide the time was right to confess to you.

D ⇴ DATES 

Changmin’s a huge movie buff, and so many of your dates will often involve films. Some nights the two of you will head to the movies with far too much popcorn in your hands to watch the new release that has just come out. Other times you’ll lay in bed and watch a movie once he comes home from his schedule to help the two of you wind down before bed. But your favourite time with movies is when the two of you have days off, making yourselves comfortable in the living room and having a marathon of all your favourites.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE 

Being so focused on his career for so many years, Changmin had very little experience when it came to dating, although he loved to tell you about his scandal with Minho all the time. When he first told you about how the media mistook Minho for a girl in his company at Yunho’s solo concert, you definitely saw the funny side. Even now, you often reminded Changmin that he’d made a girl, Minho, very happy before and so there was no doubt in your mind that he was also going to make you a very happy girl too.

F ⇴ FIGHTING 

Changmin is very much like a ticking time bomb when it comes to arguments, he doesn’t get mad often, he’s usually very good at holding his temper and biting his tongue. However, as his frustrations begin to build and his tongue swells from how long he’s bitten down on it, he’ll eventually find himself keeping up a storm and letting go of all of his frustrations. It’s definitely a shock to you when his temper finally blows, but you can only sit back and let him get everything off his chest. Once he’s done, and calm, he’ll apologise of course, and promise to try and keep himself better composed the next time you argue.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY 

Introducing you to his two sisters spelt out trouble for Changmin, the three of you often ganged up on him and bonded over all of the stories that you had to share about him. Whilst Changmin loved that you three got on so well, he definitely didn’t enjoy being embarrassed by the three of you time and time again.

H ⇴ HOME 

He was quite keen to move you into his home after a few months in your relationship. Whilst he liked his own space and his apartment, he would never say no to having someone else there to enjoy the space with him. He made several changes to his apartment too to make sure that it felt like your home as well.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU” 

Changmin was the first one of the two of you to say, ‘I love you,’ after you surprised him at a TVXQ show. He was overwhelmed to say the least to see you stood before him that the words came from his mouth before he even had chance to think. You were surprised momentarily, before assuring him that you felt the same.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY 

When he was younger Changmin would have probably got jealous, but as he’d got older and matured, jealousy is a feeling he fails to feel anymore. He trusts you and those around you, knowing that you’d never do anything to make him jealous anyway. He’s adult enough too that it he does feel himself getting jealous, then he’ll talk it out with you. There are times when he’s most definitely protective of you, but he definitely wouldn’t stretch as far to say that it’s jealousy, because he knows full well that you can handle yourself too.

K ⇴ KIDS 

Changmin definitely sees himself having a future with you, otherwise he would’ve never started your relationship. Whilst he doesn’t want to rush things too much, he’s open and honest with you about the fact that he sees children in his future. He wants to be the family man, even if he’s an idol, despite the stereotypes around it, he fails to see why he can’t live out both of his dreams and do it to the best of his ability.

L ⇴ LAUGHTER

Whilst he’s not someone loud and outlandish, Changmin still tries to be a big enough character to make sure that the smile is on your face. You know that he’s not someone that feels the need to try desperately hard to be funny, so instead you learn to laugh and love with the many other fascinating qualities that Changmin has instead. You appreciate his kindness and how much he cares for you a lot more than you focus on his ability to make you laugh. Regardless of how funny he may or not be, you always have a smile on your face whenever you’re in his company, and that’s what is most important to you both.

M ⇴ MISSING 

Despite the many years he’s spent touring the world, missing the one that he loves really does take it out of Changmin. He’s someone that doesn’t want others to see him sad, so he’ll often head back to his hotel room whenever he can feel himself beginning to miss you and get through it alone. Yunho had definitely learnt over the years too how to help Changmin deal with the feeling of missing you. Whilst he can often tell when Changmin has been getting teary, he’ll try not to show it, and so Yunho won’t bring it up. He’ll simply try his hardest to make Changmin smile and distract him from you as best as he can.

N ⇴ NICKNAMES

He loves nicknames that he’s heard in the movies, things like ‘darling,’ which are repeated again and again are his favourite nicknames for you. Anything he knows will make you smile is good as far as Changmin is concerned.

O ⇴ OBSESSION 

Changmin is obsessed with your huge heart, he loves feeling loved, but most of all, he loves the kindness and the care that you have for him, always.

P ⇴ PDA 

The biggest thing for Changmin is that you’re safe with him, so his affection in public will usually be to make sure that you feel happy at his side. He’s spent many years in the public eye, he knows how things can be, so no matter the situation, he’s always on top of things and making sure you’re protected under his touch.

Whilst Changmin would be a little bit more careful, the other two could constantly pass you soju bottles, knowing full well that if you got too drunk that it would be Changmin looking after you and they didn’t have to worry about a thing.

The number one priority as far as Changmin is concerned is always you. He’s full of love and passion when it comes to you and making sure that you feel loved by him too. He takes his time with you, he’s never one to rush into anything, paying close attention to small details and little things that he knows you like. If there’s one thing that can be guaranteed with Changmin, it’s that he always leaves you feeling on top of the world.

Leeteuk: he thought your music was good. Went to a couple of concerts, but he kept falling for your work. Was also in love with your vocals and how a good leader you are for your girls, truly respect. Occasionally would promote your band.

Heechul: biggest fan ever™. He's a rockstar, you know it and he loved your guitar solos. Would scream/sing your songs everytime he has the chance and even make random choreographies that doesn't match music anyway.

Yesung: he might not show it up, but he's a fan. Thought your discography is good, and wouldn't miss your concerts in Korea. He knows you absolutely kill it with the drums.

Shindong: he would be amazed at your voice and how your band perform at concerts. Never missed any of your concerts and would always make sure to praise your band's work after show or sns. A fan™.

hi i saw ur post about sm and the graduation system and i’m kinda new to kpop and kpop companies, i was wondering if u could explain what the graduation system is?

Hi! Uhm Okay, please bare with me 'coz I don't know where to start or how to explain this properly but I'll try lol

Let's start with history, shall we?

So a graduation system is basically a group concept made by SM Entertainment a music label/entertainment company where SJ, SNSD, SHINEE, F(X), NCT, EXO, TVXQ, RED VELVET, BOA & others are housed. So as per my knowledge, the 'Graduation System' was first applied or given to Super Junior when they debuted in 2005 making their debut album titled as 'Super Junior '05'. Meaning, the 12-member original lineup back then will be reorganized (idk if that's the proper term) based on their performance making the members work hard or do their best if they want to be part of the next lineup for Super Junior '06. It's like competing with your own members. So basically, every year or every comeback, there's a different or a new set of members. On the following year (2006), they added another member which was Kyuhyun making SJ a 13-member group, the largest pop group in history so far at that time. There were backlash when Kyuhyun was added. Fans (ELF) were worried and threatened about the instability of the group and the uncertainty of the concept that they have. Fans were worried about the members' future after going through intense training for yearsss so basically they didn't like it. And then in 2007, SM introduced another new member featuring which was Henry in SJ's 'Don't Don' comeback. Backlash continued. SM didn't expect that SJ's first and original lineup would appeal to the public like that, afterall, SJ was known to be 'TVXQ's leftovers'... damn writing this hurts... After all the backlash that SM received, they never tried adding anymore members into SJ and cancelled the 'graduation system'. They made Henry and ZhouMi (both are Chinese) members of Super Junior - M (SJ's sub-unit based and marketed in China) instead. Yes, just a member of the sub-unit, not the main group. If you still don't know since you're new to KPop, SJ was the first group to ever venture into sub-units. Considering they have large number of members, SM saw this opportunity to utilize their artists. It's like value adding. The first sub-unit in KPop was Super Junior - K.R.Y, a ballad sub-unit composed of SJ's main vocalists: Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, & Yesung. So yeah, the graduation/rotational system failed with SJ. They remained as a 13-member group since then (15-members actually including sub-unit members Henry & ZhouMi) Basically, SJ was a lab rat for SM, an experimental group. They gave the graduation system to them and tested the sub-unit thing as trial and error.

Fast forward to 2012, SM debuted EXO with 12 members as a whole divided into 2 sub-units which were EXO - M (Mandarin; based in China) and EXO - K (Korea) with 6 members each. There were no graduation system in EXO although they are an improved version of the sub-unit concept given, tried and tested first by SJ. SM would like to think that they left the errors they encountered with SJ's sub-unit system and then apply the 'improved' version of it to EXO. Did it also fail? You tell me. I'm seriously hoping that history won't repeat itself on WayV. Once you get deeper into Kpop especially into SM groups, you'll see eventually the connection, trend, similarites and differences between SJ, EXO & NCT (SM's largest groups) and also their Chinese sub-units, Super Junior - M, EXO - M, and WayV respectively and realize how SM worked around this concept of graduation/rotational system and infinite members and infinite possibilities that they gave NCT.

Fast forward to 2016, NCT debuted with its first sub-unit NCT U which has this rotational concept. Apparently, in NCT's case, rotational system and graduation was made separate and different. Any member in NCT regardless of what fixed unit they belong to could debut and release a song & MV as a member of NCT U depending on whoever fits the song. It could be a duo, a solo, a trio, or indefinite number of members.

SM would like to think that they left the errors they encountered with SJ's graduation system and then apply the 'improved' version of it to NCT Dream. NCT Dream debuted in 2016 with the original lineup of 7 members composed of Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, & Jisung. They were literally just 14 - 18 years old (Korean age) back then, teenagers. And the graduation system that SM gave them was that when they reach the age of adulthood which is 20y.o in Korea, they have to 'graduate' or leave the group and re-debut separately into another fixed unit which is based in another country's city ('coz SM was planning to conquer the world through music somehow lol). So after reaching the age of 20, these kids who literally grew up together as childhood friends are bound to be separated. Mark turned 20y.o in 2018 and graduated by the end of the same year. The members threw him a Kamsa (Thank You) Party which is like a send-off party around Christmas time of 2018. He was no longer part of NCT Dream's activity or comebacks after that nor seen together with the other NCT Dream's members unless it's a full group (NCT as whole) activity. So in 2019, 00liners Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, & Jaemin turned 20y.o and were expected to graduate from the sub-unit at the end of the year just like Mark. But SM announced concert tour schedules for NCT Dream on November of 2019. Til 2020 came and Chenle also turned 20y.o and SM never mentioned anything about the graduation. Not until today April 14, 2020 where they finally broke their silence and announced that NCT Dream's graduation system is abolished and will adopt NCT U's rotational system instead making NCT Dream a fixed unit. I know this might cause confusion later on especially for new NCTzens so I'm gonna clear it up here now. NCT U's rotational system includes everyone in NCT and give them opportunity to collaborate and release a song regardless of the sub-unit they belong to. While NCT Dream's rotational system is only exclusive to NCT Dream's 7 members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, & Jisung.

SM isn't really good at taking back whatever they've started, they'll see to it that at some point, they'll still be able to push through their original plan. That's why I said on my previous post that they've 'compromised'. They didn't give in to our demands, they've 'compromised' thinking that this is the 'best' they could give us given the situation.

Other people say it's no big deal, they're still in the same group just not in the same sub-unit. Or they're just separated in sub-units, it doesn't mean they're no longer friends which is all true. But if it's just something that light of a thing to deal with, it wouldn't affect the members so much. SJ have mentioned in some ocassions before that the graduation/rotational system they had during debut was extremely hard on them because even if they didn't want to, the concept made them look at their members, their friends as rivals. It made them compete with each other. The managers kinda pressured them into thinking that way, the company made them feel that way. They were still budding into adulthood back then, around 18- 22y.o. They were struggling because their concept gave them so much uncertainty. Imagine joining the company at a young age aspiring to debut as an artist so you could put food on the table for your family (because most of SJ members came from poor families) so you went through years of intense training and then to debut in a group where your future isn't assured. While for NCT Dream, since they are childhood friends, some of them have said on ocassions before (specifically Jaemin & Jisung) that aside from their members, they don't have friends. Because they've dedicated their childhood in intense training. They didn't have the time to mingle with other kids in school because right after classes, they'd go straight to training so the only friends they know and have are their members. Think that all those years they were building that relationship together, while SM were planning to separate them from each other when they turn 20. SM even made Jeno, Haechan & Jaemin drop out of high school just a few months before their high school graduation to focus on NCT Dream's graduation. Think about how they were robbed of that opportunity. I specially/personally feel bad about knowing how Jeno enjoys school and excels in academics. Think about how hard they cried during their first ever concert The Dream Show thinking that it might be their first and last concert together because even themselves don't know what SM plans to do with them after graduation. That's what the 'graduation system' does to young group of people. Although the concept is not all bad, but it's not nice to play with other people's emotions like that. That's why no one wants it.

So yeah, that concludes my explanation. Sorry if it's kinda information overload. I think, while writing, it became more of a vent/rant more than explaining. 😅
