(Problematic things Super Junior has done)
Problematic things they have done since pre-debut to 2024 (now).
Trigger warning: racism, misogyny, paedophilia, homophobia, Sulli's passing and other sensitive topics.
The whole group:
The main actress in Super Junior's "Devil" MV was only 14 years old. The main actress admitted her age on Instagram during the "Devil" era. She drove a car, kissed Siwon, seduced Kyuhyun, pointed a gun at Kangin, and flirted with Yesung.
Leeteuk:
Told Suzy to lose weight in front of Miss A members. Leeteuk said, "Suzy needs to lose weight first." After this statement, both Jia and Fei told Leeteuk to "knock it off". Kan Mi Yeon also disapproved of what Leeteuk said, and he quickly tried to move on with a smile after saying he was just joking.
Said "I really dislike fat girls. I don't think they take care of their bodies well."
Performed with Boom, who was doing blackface while performing (With Shindong and Eunhyuk).
Being creepy to Yeonwoo by trying to message her on Instagram but ended up messaging a fan account. He said "Yeonwoo-ya".
Being creepy to Yoona, Krystal, and Sooyoung when they were minors. Krystal and Leeteuk were on the same show in 2011. Leeteuk mentioned that he had asked Krystal to marry him back when they first met. Krystal joined SM when she was 11. Leeteuk met Krystal when she was 11 and he was 22/23. Yoona exposed Leeteuk for asking her to marry him when she was 13 and Leeteuk was 20. Leeteuk grabbed and hugged Sooyoung when he was excited because of a World Cup match in 2002. Leeteuk was 19 and Sooyoung was 12. SM's female and male trainees weren't allowed to hang out together anymore because of that incident. Sooyoung was Leeteuk's first love.
Forced Minah to kiss him for the “sake” of a prank. Minah was shaking her head and trying to send covert signals, but he just pressed on with it and kissed her on the lips, even though she had her mouth tightly shut and said “Do it on the forehead! On the forehead!” Leeteuk put her in an uncomfortable situation one that she did not consent to. He was asked about it later and gave a really… weak excuse to reason his kiss, which did not make him look good.
His top advice for dating women was to make sure they're young and keep serving them drinks.
Leeteuk asked the Korean government to ask Korean citizens to pay taxes so that celebrities could ride taxis using the citizens' money.
He and Shindong defended Kangin who has a history of crimes at Ryeowook's wedding. Leeteuk said people should support Kangin so that he can earn a living despite his crimes. Leeteuk said, "Everyone, you’re now seeing Kangin, whose self-reflection time is longer than promotion time. Please forgive Kangin now. Kangin, who’s reflecting for 15 years & promoted for 5 years". Leeteuk proceeded to say "On a happy & great day like this. Please hug/hold Kangin" and Shindong replied "Yes". Leeteuk also said, "Please give him love, so that Kangin will able to make a living" and Shindong replied, "Please help him a lot". Then, Leeteuk said, "(We) ask for everyone’s help".
Said, "When girls shed tears, it's just water coming out of their body, but when guys shed tears, it's their blood coming out of their hearts."
Heechul:
Wore cornrows.
Wore a headscarf in a similar way to a hijab in ‘A Style For You’ episode 4.
Had a crush on Sohee when she was 16 and said she was his ideal type. Sohee was 16 and Heechul was 25 in 2008. Heechul confessed his love for Sohee many times.
Japanese fetish. For instance, he referred to himself as "uncle" and then proceeded to ask Kazuha for her phone number. Kazuha was 19 and Heechul was 39. Heechul is known to love anime and anything Japanese including Japanese women. Heechul reacted creepily when Nako was asked to make an impression of Yazawa Nico. Heechul dated Momo (a Japanese woman). Heechul has a body pillow of a 14-year-old anime girl.
Discussed a woman-centred community online that was being sued by an incel YouTuber named Bokyeom. He proceeded to take the side of the incel YouTuber and called the women that were in the named community misogynistic slurs. He further mentions how he donates a lot of money as if that had anything to do with the issue.
Commented on the Japan-Korea-related boycott but since I'm not very educated on the topic aside from knowing the fact that Japan once violently colonized Korea. I will not comment on this issue.
When Sulli passed, there were lots of discussions on the misogynistic hate comments being possible reasons for her passing. Even though I disagree with speculating about the reasons for someone's passing, I do think it's important to highlight the unjust misogynistic hate she received. Heechul, however, felt the need to reduce these discussions to gender wars by saying that the hate Sulli received had nothing to do with gender issues and those discussions were just a way of pitting the genders against each other. He is ignoring the fact that Sulli was very outspoken about gender injustice against women. By writing these posts as her friend, he was dismissing the values she always stood up for.
Caught being subscribed to a channel that blamed the victims of the "Nth Room" incident. A lot of women were trafficked, threatened and trapped in online networking sites to perform sexual acts while people, mostly young men, recorded them and forced them to do things according to their disturbing fantasies.
Being rude to Ningning on Knowing Bros. Karina, Winter and Ningning appeared on Knowing Bros. He asked all three girls, "Do you look at a guy's looks or not?" and Ningning immediately responded, "I don't.". Everyone was doubtful of Ningning's answer and protested against her answer. That is when Heechul decided to speak up. He blurted, "Young Chul has the best personality among us," and implied to ask her if she would date him or not. Ningning responded with, "Oh really? And..." making everyone laugh. Ningning was 20 (born in 2002) and Young Chul was 48 (born in 1974).
Danced to "Tunak Tunak" in a stereotypical/mocking way along with Blackpink on Knowing Bros.
Used an Native American headdress filter on Instagram.
Defended his former teammate Kangin, who had a history of drunk driving and scandals, and used strong language during discussions related to school violence and a specific online community. He appeared on a live broadcast for Afreeca TV with BJ Choi. During the broadcast, he got seemingly very drunk and gained a lot of negative attention for his comments on topics. During the broadcast, while talking about his former bandmate Kangin and him being a fighter, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo was suddenly mentioned. Heechul explained how close he is to the singer, adding, “I’m so close with Eunwoo. He’s so handsome, but he’s such a manly man (literally translated as alpha male)”. The term “alpha male” can be interpreted negatively as some of the traits can be seen as toxic. Although Heechul seemingly meant to praise Eunwoo, his following statements gained attention as he related it to the rising topic of “school bullying”. Heechul said, "If you talk to him about school bullying, he would have cussed more than me". Heechul seemed to paint Eunwoo as someone violent and aggressive when Heechul started explaining how he thought Eunwoo would act upon hearing about a bully. Heechul said "I understand why he is popular, of course. He has an image on TV, but if he heard about a school bully, he would be like, ‘Hyungnim, bring that f**ker here,’ and would have slapped him. He’s such a manly man (Alpha male) who likes to exercise…".
Defended "Idol School" after it was accused of sexualizing children (young girls as young as 13 were made to dance with wet white tops) by K-feminists. Heechul was a judge on "Idol School" and then became a mentor for fromis_9 after their debut.
When Red Velvet appeared on Knowings Bros, Irene was asked to wear acupressure slippers. It's hard to wear acupressure slippers while standing, let alone jump with them if you're not used to them. Irene was skipping while wearing acupressure slippers. The jumping rope hitted her head. Heechul asked her if she was in pain because of those slippers. Irene replied it was just the rope hitting her, but Heechul insisted that it was the slippers that hurt her. Irene got angry and said it was the jumping rope again, not the slippers.
Hangeng:
Wore a Native American headband.

Yesung:
Did blackface to cosplay as Nick Fury and reposted his blackface photos 3 times after being called out.
Said "I think obese people are lazy".
Said that fat girls cannot wear mini-skirts. When asked, "What's the most unattractive image when a woman wears a mini-skirt?", Yesung chose "women who have fat legs." The other answers were, "women who have hairy legs" and "women who open their legs when sitting.".
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun). Yesung put a snake prop/fake snake around his neck and it looked like he used his hands to charm the snake.
Kangin:
DUI hit-and-run. On October 16, 2009, around 3 AM, Kangin collided with two parked taxis and left the scene of the hit-and-run incident. The occupants of the two vehicles, including the drivers and two passengers, were reportedly uninjured. Five hours later, Kangin turned himself into the police. He was recorded to have a blood alcohol content of 0.082% when he arrived at the station. He then failed to show up at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station at 2 PM on the same day for further investigation and had to be called in the following day.
Second DUI hit-and-run. On May 24, 2016, Kangin was involved in another DUI hit-and-run incident, where he turned himself in after a few hours. He was then found with a blood alcohol content of 0.05%. SM Entertainment has issued a statement, stating his future activities were cancelled while he reflects on his actions. He entered the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on June 15, 2016, to face questioning over causing a traffic collision while under the influence of alcohol. Prosecutors summarily indicted him on July 7. On September 7, 2016, Kangin was sentenced to pay a 7 million ($6,420) fine.
Reportedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend. On November 17, 2017, police responded after receiving a call that Kangin was drunk and assaulting a woman at an escort bar in the Nonhyeon neighbourhood of Seoul. Upon investigation, police described it as “a minor dispute, and the parties reconciled at the scene and took measures to return home.” with no injuries, and no parties wished for charges to be pressed, Kangin was sent off with a warning and not formally booked on any charges.
Called VIXX's N "fucking trash".
Made fun of f(x) Amber for being masculine by calling her a "man". Kangin said, “This is unfair we have 3 guys,” when everyone else said Amber’s a woman and scolded him.

Told Lovelyz to lose weight. He said “We can’t play this game because these girls are making a come back and they need to stick to their diets. They need to lose weight.”

Shindong:
Wore a Native American headdress.
Did blackface to imitate Oprah.
Made fun of Shuhua's Korean language skills.
Accused BTS of copying EXO.
Said "If someone had to lose weight, I would tell that person to lose weight. Lose some weight, why can't you take care of yourself? When I say this, the person might think, 'Look who's talking,' but I would reply, 'I'm a boy and you're a girl.'".
To this, both Kim Shin Young and announcer Gu Eun Young retorted, "Why does gender matter in this situation? So girls have to be skinny and boys can be..." Taken aback by their remarks, Shindong quickly explained, "I'm just saying. Honestly, I would want the person that I love to be more pretty or more handsome."
Performed with Boom, who was doing blackface while performing (With Leeteuk and Eunhyuk).
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Yesung, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun). Shindong dressed up as an Indian girl and used a Sari.
Took photos of TVXQ's Yunho without his permission when he (Shindong) was a trainee and Yunho already debuted as an idol.
Shindong decided to react to Taemin's music video for 'Advice' which brought about a backlash from Taemin's fans. Like any other reaction video, Shindong sat down and gave his opinionated remarks while watching the video. As soon as the video started, Shindong gave a reaction of being impressed by Taemin's dancing. He said, "Every time I see Taemin's dance, it's just very...it feels like it's fast-forwarded. Oh this MV is amazing." Throughout the video, Shindong didn't hold back his praise. However, some fans took issue with one remark by Shindong. In the middle of the reaction video, Shindong said, "He's got this pretty visual so even when he is with female dancers, he goes nicely with them" and praised Taemin's advantages of having an androgynous look. He continued to say, "It's hard to tell if he's a guy or a girl..." which is the sentence that backfired on Shindong despite him saying it as praise and compliment. Quickly, many Taemin fans took to social media to criticize Shindong as they said his remarks were unnecessary. There were some even taking out their anger against Shindong and saying profanities against him.

He and Leeteuk defended Kangin who has a history of crimes at Ryeowook's wedding and agreed with Leeteuk's comments to support Kangin so that he can earn a living despite his crimes.
Sungmin:
Asking Leeteuk for marriage acceptance even though he was going through a very big family loss.
Scheduled the wedding to take place during Super Junior's scheduled performances.
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun). Sungmin and Eunhyuk used flutes to look like they hypnotize a snake.
Wore a Native American headband.
Wore side braids.
Eunhyuk:
Made a girl cry on "We Got Married". On "We Got Married", the “Fighting Juniors,” which consists of Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae and Kyuhyun have been helping Leeteuk and Kang Sora in their “We Got Married” episodes, and they recently finished their first dates with the actresses Lee Sena, Shin Soo Yol, Son Eun Seo and Jung Yeon Ju. However, in the short duration of time that has passed, there have seemed to be changes in their opinions and thoughts. Before, Eunhyuk had chosen Lee Sena as his favourite, but later on changed his mind to Son Eun Seo, causing Lee Sena to cry in the final choices.
(Allegedly) dated IU when she was 19 and he was 26.

Misogynistic title track controversy (GGB scandal with Donghae). Korean fans have brought up the misogynistic connotations behind the word, accusing Super Junior D&E of not being mindful. The title of the song (GGB) is a phrase used when calling a woman, but it is a derogatory one. It is not completely a curse word, and there are instances where it is used amongst girls themselves or mother-daughters in a joking way, but it is similar to when some words can be used jokingly amongst the same race, but are considered racist for others to use. [Jijibae (GGB)] is a word that modern women are averse to, and it is especially unpleasant when it is used by a man. 10 to 15 years ago, it was more commonly used with the meaning of “bad woman,”. The word “jijibae” in Korean originates from the word “gyejibae,” which loosely translates to “wench.” While it can be used to refer to a woman or girl, it holds derogatory meaning and disrespect. This mistake can easily be avoided. They could've chosen another title for the song. It's not that hard to choose another title for the song.
Performed with Boom, who was doing blackface while performing (With Leeteuk and Shindong).
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun).
Wore dreadlocks.
Wore a Native American headband.
Siwon:
Wore a dreadlocks wig in a performance (With Donghae).
Did too many homophobic things (×100).
Retweeted a homophobic tweet.
Posted a transphobic meme on Bubble.
Said "I do not wish to acknowledge homosexuals".
Dog biting incident. His French bulldog had a history of biting people. For instance, Leeteuk said Siwon's dog tried to bite him. Siwon and his family had a habit of not putting their dog on a leash despite the dog being aggressive. His dog bit an old lady and the lady died.
Openly supports Israel. In an interview, a reporter asked which city he would like to go and he answered "Jerusalem, Israel". Siwon said he wanted to go to Israel with one of his friends. He took photos with Israeli diplomats and had political summits/meetings with them. He said "Israel Elf", interacted with an Israeli fan, and acknowledged Israel as a country, etc.

Posted a photo of him drinking Starbucks during the boycott.
Fan of Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. Both of these presidents were/are horrible people.

Wore a Native American headband.
Zhoumi:
Zhoumi laughed about the earthquake of 6.8 magnitude that hit Taiwan saying “When the earthquake struck just then, it was just like playing.” Moreover, Zhou Mi even used last year’s Si Chuan earthquake as a comparison, saying: “Last year, when we were promoting in China, we also met an earthquake, and it was pretty happy.” And Han Geng who was beside him immediately rushed forward to clarify: “He (Zhou Mi) doesn’t mean happy.” However, it was too late, as everything was already recorded by the media.
Supported China's movement of claiming territories in the South China Sea. He took to his Sina Weibo account to repost a nationalistic poster from the Chinese newspaper "People's Daily". It shows a map of China and the "nine-dash line" that covers most of the South China Sea. Accompanied by the caption: "This is China, not one bit less".
Donghae:
Wore a dreadlocks wig in a performance (with Siwon).

Eunhyuk said every time they have a comeback, Donghae suggests hair for him and tries to get him to do dreadlocks for a D&E comeback.
Wore braids in the House Party MV. He chose to do the hairstyle himself.
Wore an Elsa dress and a keffiyeh to be "Rich Elsa" and threw fake money to portray Arabs as "oil money rich people".
Was aggressive and tried to raise his hand against Irene after he lost a game. Irene got scared. Yesung got mad at him by saying "Why are you acting like a gangster?". In the episode, he was so mad every time he lost a point to Irene and said the game was a lie.
Donghae participated in the same performance as Xuan Yi who did the Bharatanatyam dance mockingly while wearing a Charlie Chaplin moustache and approved her of doing the Bharatanatyam dance. On a Super TV episode, Super Junior invited girl groups to their show. In that episode, each Super Junior member had to team up with a girl group to make a performance. Donghae teamed up with WJSN. Donghae chose Tunak Tunak as their song for their performance because he thought it was an exciting song. Both WJSN and Donghae choreographed, practised and participated in the performance. Each team had to get a prop/instrument to perform with, Donghae and WJSN got the Sogo. At the beginning of the performance, Xuan Yi did the Bharatanatyam dance mockingly while wearing a Charlie Chaplin moustache and did head bobbling movements. Then, the other girls and Donghae came behind her. After that, the other girls did head bobbling movements and then Donghae started dancing with them. It was WJSN's idea to make Xuan Yi do the Bharatanatyam dance. However, Donghae was the team captain and WJSN's senior. He fully had control of their performance. Plus, it was Super Junior's show. Even if he didn't do the Bharatanatyam dance or come up with the idea of Xuan Yi doing it, he was also guilty of approving Xuan Yi of doing the Bharatanatyam dance mockingly with a Charlie Chaplin moustache, didn't hold her and the other girls accountable and participating in the same performance as Xuan Yi.
Misogynistic title track controversy (GGB scandal with Eunhyuk). The word “jijibae” in Korean originates from the word “gyejibae,” which loosely translates to “wench.” While it can be used to refer to a woman or girl, it holds derogatory meaning and disrespect.
Ryeowook:
Made fun of VIXX's N skin colour.
Put Yesung's blackface photo as his Twitter profile picture and laughed at Yesung's blackface
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, and Kyuhyun). Ryeowook did a dance move to look like a snake being hypnotized by Sungmin and Eunhyuk's flutes.
Wore a Native American headband.
Kyuhyun:
Def Conn was talking about a trade he did with an African American regarding some Micheal Jordan shoes to which Kyuhyun retorted “That scenario must have looked like a drug deal.”.
Harassed Goo Hara and Jessica for dating on Radio Star. He called Goo Hara a "slut", and said that if she gets pregnant her career will be over and if he opens his mouth again her career will be over. He asked Jessica many inappropriate questions and made her and other SNSD members uncomfortable, especially Tiffany. Every time Kyuhyun said something bad about Jessica, Tiffany defended Jessica and scolded him.
Thought India was uncivilized. So, he brought a spoon to Indian because he thought there were no spoons in India.
Liked tweets that criticized Changmin and Chen's marriages.
Choreographed and participated in a racist dance to mock Indians and portray them as "snake charmers" (With Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, and Ryeowook).
Wore a Native American headband.
When Joohoney stereotypically imitated how black people talk on Radio Star, Kyuhyun laughed.
After news went out that Hangeng had filed for provisional disposition of the contract with SM Entertainment, Kyuhyun wrote on his CyWorld account on 21st December after the news about Hangeng came out, “Even a beast don’t bite the hand that feeds one…I can not understand” expressing his disappointment about it.
Henry:
Kissed Yewon's thigh while carrying her on his shoulders on "We Got Married". This caused people to call him a pervert.
Revealed that when he first met his members, he thought all of them were gay and thought Heechul was trans and said those things worried him.
Persuaded Jackson (GOT7) to accompany him in going into the girl's room without permission and rifling through their stuff on episode 45 of SBS Roomate.
Used a stereotypical Indian accent to mock Indians, pretended to be Saruman, and thought Indian and Arab cultures were the same. A genie lamp was edited into the video.
Defended Yesung's blackface by commenting on Yesung's blackface post on Instagram. He commented, "If this is racist. then thor wearing the blonde wig is also racist. c o s p l a y .".
Henry and his crew culturally appropriated black hairstyles in his "I'm Good" MV.
Supported China's movement of claiming territories in the South China Sea (same with Zhoumi).

Not a couple
Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong & Eunhyuk x Fem!reader.
Synopsis: The members of Super Junior act as if they are your partner without being aware of it.
Warnings: Use of (Y/N), maybe some grammar mistakes, written with female pronouns.
w/c: almost 1.2k for each character
a/n: I'll only post about 5 members in this bc are long enough and it could be boring if I put everyone in 1
LEETEUK
As hosts of a radio show people were used to seeing and hearing you together.
Sometimes he would give you kind compliments about your wardrobe or your appearance in general. He always had a kind word for you as soon as the broadcast started.
He called you pretty, darling, dear… in short, your name was always accompanied by some affectionate word and yet everything seemed normal, or at least you thought so.
The radio program was celebrating one more year of broadcasting and the radio station had planned a special program to celebrate with the public.
They wouldn't have a live audience because the booth, as big as it was, didn't allow for that many people. But what they could do was receive letters from fans.
The other two hosts took turns reading the public's comments and letters one by one while telling anecdotes of things that had happened behind the scenes.
A letter arrived addressed to you and Leeteuk stretched out his arm to hand it to you personally.
"Dear (Y/N), I would like to know why Leeteuk treats you differently. Are you two dating? I have noticed that he always introduces you differently than the others and, although I rarely get to watch the YouTube broadcast, I have noticed that he is very attentive to you, more so than he is to the other two hosts," you read as the tone of your voice lowered as the letter read on.
"Now that the anonymous one mentions it," your companion interjected, "I have noticed that when Leeteuk brings his lunch, he always brings a small portion for (Y/N)."
"That's a lie," you said before the topic continued, "He's nice to everyone who works here. I don't think he has a preference for anyone."
It was that letter that seemed to open everyone's eyes. Everyone but yours.
The day after the anniversary the staff kept casting fleeting glances in your direction, or whispering secretly to each other every time Leeeteuk approached you during the reading of the rundown.
Things were starting to get tense between the two of you.
As usual, Leeteuk had introduced you as "the ever beautiful (Y/N)". At first the flattery made you smile, until it was his turn to introduce his other two companions and he did so by mentioning only their names, without any cute way of referring to them.
At that moment you justified it by thinking that the relationship with the other two women was perhaps not as close as with you.
But the night came and the team gathered for dinner at a Korean steak restaurant.
Drinks were served and plates of food were passed from hand to hand while someone from the staff was in charge of cooking the meat for everyone.
Your place was a bit far from the grill, so you had a hard time reaching the meat to eat it. The aroma that the whole place contained wasn't much help, everything smelled appetizing.
Then it happened.
Leeteuk wrapped a piece of meat with a knob leaf, placed some kimchi and put it in front of your mouth to feed you.
"Thank you?" you mumbled, opening your mouth to take the morsel he offered you.
Someone dropped his chopsticks against the table and another one of those present almost choked on the soju.
The table was silent. Glances traveled from Leeteuk to you and everyone seemed to notice that something was going on between you.
"What was that?" one of the hosts questioned, moving her chopstick back and forth between you and Leeteuk.
"What are you talking about?"
Your confusion was real. Leeteuk had always been like that with you, it didn't make sense for them to be surprised by something like that.
"He always introduces you differently, makes you food and now he even feeds you. You can't deny that's strange."
As the other host pointed out every detail, Leeteuk again placed another piece of meat wrapped in lettuce in front of your mouth.
You had no choice but to go back to eating the morsel he offered you.
"It's nonsense," you shook your hand to play down his words, "he would do that for anyone."
"You know that's not true."
That conversation had planted a doubt inside you. A small unknown that hovered in the air between you and Leeteuk.
During that week of work you had noticed that Leeteuk always accompanied your name with some kind word and that he didn't refer to anyone else that way.
"Wonderful (Y/N)"
"Sweet (Y/N)"
"Dear (Y/N)"
Every time he mentioned a different adjective your face would go up in flames and your coworkers could do nothing but laugh at your reactions.
The straw that broke the camel's back was the day a psychoanalyst was invited to the program.
That specialist had not stopped pointing out every detail between you and Leeteuk. What if his eyes revealed that he was attracted to you, or the way he moved his hands gave away how much he wanted to be with you.
The worst? Leeteuk never denied it.
He didn't make excuses, he didn't deny the facts. He just smiled and went on with the interview as if those accusations were an everyday occurrence.
When the broadcast was over you got rid of all the audio and sound equipment and left the booth. You needed to talk to him.
You two couldn't keep orbiting like that, making everyone uncomfortable and being the victims of scathing comments that matched you both.
"Do you have time?" you asked him as soon as his head popped out of the cockpit.
"Sure, is everything okay?"
"I don't think so. There have been some strange comments around lately" you scratched the back of your head. "The whole team thinks there's something going on between you and me."
Those words hung in the air much longer than you thought prudent. The silence stretched between the two of you, threatening to make the wait for an answer more and more agonizing.
'It bothers you."
His answer was accurate. A statement that fell like a bombshell inside you.
Did it bother you? Was it really uncomfortable?
No.
The truth was that you were used to his good treatment, to the ease with which he moved around you.
If you felt uncomfortable it was because of your own feelings. The constant thumping and thudding of your heart, the butterflies in your stomach and the shortness of breath when he got too close to you.
"It doesn't bother me. I want to make it clear."
"You want us to prove them right? You want to hear that I really like you? Well, fine. I like you, what those people say is real."
His eyes looked back at you with determination, with a glint of desperation to hear what you had to say.
Your hands clutched at the collar of his shirt and you pulled him close to your lips.
You didn't need to say your answer. The feel of your lips on his was enough for him to understand the message.
HEECHUL
His long fingers caressed your cheek as the forum fell silent. The lights dimmed and the ambient saxophone music began.
With his fingertips he traced your jaw, his index finger lifted your chin causing your head to tilt back, exposing your lips to meet his.
"I can't see it! Cut, cut, cut," Yerin interjected, covering his eyes with both hands.
Heechul bent down and planted a kiss on your cheek, leaving on your skin the mark of the pink lipstick that had been put on him to record the video.
You let out a laugh as you walked over to your best friend to slap her back with the palm of your hand. You had tried too hard not to laugh during the whole scene for her to ruin it like that.
"But I was about to kiss (Y/N)!" Heechul joked, provoking laughter from some of the staff.
"You dream."
Yerin, the former GFriend member and also the glue that bound Heechul and you together, had hired you -without pay- to be the main actors in the video for her new song.
"Don't fight, I need you to keep that romantic aura you always create when you are together," she requested in a conciliatory tone.
"We don't even have a romantic aura," Heechul replied. "We only pretend for the sake of your career."
In a childish gesture he showed you his tongue. You smiled and decided to ignore him for the sake of the music video.
"We don't have a romantic aura," you pointed out to get rid of the discomfort that had settled in your chest, "I can barely tolerate his presence. You know I do it for you."
Your arms went around your friend, pulling her tight against you. You loved her too much, enough to agree to pretend to be a couple with Heechul.
You didn't dislike the singer, but he made you nervous with his games and comments. Always cornering you, always confusing your feelings.
"You always act like a couple. Hee does things for you that he would never do for others, not even for me," she commented as if it was no big deal.
But of course it was a big deal. Of course saying that set your pulse racing like nothing else could.
"He's always been a joker with everyone."
"But not everyone he jokes with like he jokes with you. Think about it," she added, "he wouldn't have agreed to do this video if I chose someone else as a model."
"Not for free but for a small fee," you pointed out amused.
"You see? I bet the other drink he's holding is for you," she whispered looking at the idol who was coming back after going to a nearby store.
"Think fast!" shouted the singer, throwing a plastic bottle with liquid inside in your direction.
The package landed in your hands successfully, so you earned Heechul's applause and congratulations.
"That's my girl!" the idol laughed before hiding his face behind his hair out of sudden embarrassment.
Yerin pressed his lips together to contain his laughter.
"Do you see? You're HIS girl now."
The biting comment achieved its effect by rattling your feelings. Now you were no longer so sure what your presence meant to the idol.
There you were again, now filming a scene in the park behind the SM building.
Two days had passed and your outfit had been neatly selected to give the scene a 'romantic aura' as Yerin liked to say.
Heechul and you were walking hand in hand, the idol intertwined his fingers with yours while looking at the cameras. It seemed that this was part of the script.
It wasn't.
Your body tensed and the scene was genuinely perfect. The reactions of both of you were natural. None of you seemed to be acting and only Heechul, Yerin and you seemed aware of it.
"Don't. People already think something is going on between us. Don't give us any more confusing signals," you implored, feeling the heat rising from your stomach to your face.
"I like you," Heechul whispered almost inaudibly. His lips hadn't even parted completely.
"This is not part of the script."
His footsteps slowed to a stop. Heechul's gaze traveled all over your face looking for some sign to stop him, some expression to warn him that he was going too far.
But your eyes sparkled and your lips tugged their corners into a shy smile, sometimes turning your relaxed countenance into one full of doubts. Uncertainties.
"I like you" he tried again, this time with a steadier voice, more sure of his words.
You swallowed hard. Feeling for the first time the weight of his words. You felt cornered.
"You dream," you articulated with false irony.
"I dream of impossible. Tell me you feel the same, tell me I'm not risking too much."
Your arms went around his neck. You leaned on him for balance as you stood on the tips of your toes, stretching to reach his lips.
Heechul helped you by bending his head until that longed-for union came. His lips were soft and delicate, his rhythm too slow for your own liking.
"Cut!" Yerin shouted, clapping his hands and twirling back and forth.
You both broke apart and turned to the cameramen. Almost all of them had their mouths open as they continued to focus their lenses on you.
Your face was completely red, as was Heechul's, but he was quicker to leave the embarrassment behind only to start joking with everyone.
"This video is going to be a hit! I need someone to send me the unedited version."
The laughter matched the sound of your heartbeat, making you feel less nervous and a little more confident as Heechul's arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to his body.
YESUNG
The sun streamed through the cafeteria windows and reflected off every metal surface it touched. The new moldings on the door frames, windows and handrails glistened in the sunlight.
With a piece of cloth in one hand and the glass cleaning liquid in another, you began to spray the square surface of one of the tables while humming the song playing in the background.
The customers were few and the boss had to leave. His brother was supposed to arrive soon, but there was no sign of the singer anywhere.
"Leave that there. Clean the tables is not your duty," proclaimed the idol, pushing you aside to take your place, "Go and wait at the counter."
Indeed your job was to be at the counter, but since there were no customers you could also help the cleaning staff. After all, everyone were there to work.
"Here comes the substitute's girlfriend," the barista joked, earning one of your punches in his side.
"Maybe not a girlfriend, but a favorite," corrected the waitress. "It's too obvious to deny it."
"It's not obvious. He's nice to everyone."
You really believed that. You had witnessed the way the idol would get involved at work by manning the cash register or serving orders.
He was an easygoing person who was willing to help. There was nothing to read between the lines, plain and simple he was one of those rare people with a service attitude.
"So kind that the only one he won't let lift a finger is you."
"That's not true. Stop making up gossip," you said.
Yesung's presence at the counter made everyone stand still, giving each other complicit glances as they pointed at you and the idol.
You rolled your eyes and continued working, or at least you were trying to.
You couldn't feel comfortable with all those mocking looks on you.
"Do you have plans for today?" asked Yesung once they ran out of customers.
The singer was maneuvering behind the espresso machine, preparing some coffee for the whole team while they chatted in a comfortable and friendly way.
"Today I have training with the baseball team, I could use an iced americano coffee," commented the barista, observing each of the idol's movements.
Yesung poured the first shot of coffee into a glass with ice, put the lid on and handed it to him.
"An iced for the team's athlete. And you?" His question was directed to your other workmate.
"An americano. Please"
"I'll do it."
It was the same routine. Yesung prepared his drink and placed it on the counter.
"Later I have to attend an online conference. I don't understand why they organize something like this if they know well that we are in exam time and we have many subjects to study" she complained bringing the cup of coffee to her lips "Thanks, it tastes delicious."
The singer pulled out the espresso again but this time he steamed the milk to make you a cappuccino.
The cup rested on the counter as he gave you a look that lasted a little longer than usual.
"Thank you?" You hesitated a little.
There was no need to place your order, he already knew it by heart.
That shouldn't really mean anything.
The team was small, so knowing everyone's tastes was easy, wasn't it? You shook your head to push those thoughts away and decided to focus your attention on what was going on around you.
When the cup reached your lips, the idol turned his attention back to you. He was waiting to see your reaction to the drink he had prepared because he knew you liked it.
A drop of cappuccino slipped from your lips and Yesung wiped it off with a paper napkin.
You was thankful and the rest of the world fell silent. The barista spit out the coffee as he coughed violently.
"Wow, he doesn't just wipe tables (Y/N), he wipes your lips as well" your companion joked, nudging your shoulder lightly.
"He just wanted to help me. Stop being annoying" you diverted your attention to the singer to answer a question he hadn't asked yet. "Thank you, the cappuccino was delicious."
"It seems that my skills are improving."
That was the only comment he made and that made you panic.
You expected him to scold your colleagues, to say something to deny things. But no, he had ignored the subject as if it was unimportant.
Then Yesung's hand burst into your field of vision crossing in front of your face. His fingers smoothed a lock of your hair and placed it inside the net that was supposed to hold it in place.
The rest of the team freaked out at the gesture and the idol blushed slightly.
"I'll go enlist what's in the storeroom," he said and ran off, leaving you alone to confront your teammates who were bragging about what they had just witnessed.
That was all that happened in a single day.
Things got worse the next time the idol came to help in the cafeteria even though his brother was also there.
"You are wanted (Y/N)!" Jong Jin announced hiding a mocking smile.
Your gaze fixed on the entrance of the cafeteria only to find Yesung setting foot inside the establishment.
You immediately turned around and stopped wiping the tables to run behind the counter, just where you belonged.
Your colleagues laughed discreetly at your reaction.
"I need someone to accompany my brother to pick up the new set of cups I designed for this season," requested the owner observing all the employees.
"I will go with (Y/N), she is efficient in this kind of jobs" declared Yesung holding your hand to take you out of the store.
Your companions laughed uproariously as your cheeks turned a scarlet red that was hard to hide.
The inside of the van they used to pick up orders felt smaller than usual. It was as if the space forced you to sit shoulder to shoulder with the idol.
"Doesn't it bother you?" you asked, putting the seat belt in place.
"Helping my brother? No, I like to spend my little free time with him."
"I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about us, that they keep saying I'm your favorite."
There, you'd finally come out and said it. Even if you regretted it, there was no turning back.
"It doesn't bother me. Maybe you are my favorite."
Your eyes widened in surprise. You hadn't expected his answer to be so direct, let alone that it had left you speechless.
You had short-circuited.
"Maybe you're also overthinking things."
His ambiguous answer made you land with a thud.
The way he said it gave you hope and then pushed you back into rejection. You couldn't deal with that any longer.
"I also think you like me," you declared with your arms crossed and a frown on your face.
Yesung didn't answer anything. His eyes were on the road while his hands clutched the steering wheel.
Feeling increasingly annoyed you decided to turn to the window to admire the cityscape.
Birds were following each other in intricate movements fluttering through the sky, children were laughing and playing in the parks and office workers were starting to come out of the buildings with their backpacks, purses and briefcases in hand.
Everyone was on the move, all except the two of you, who didn't seem to be getting anywhere.
"Did you like me?" you asked directly, no pretty words or nerves all around. You wanted an answer and you wanted it now.
The idol lost control of the car and it meandered down the road, earning the whistles of other drivers.
Yesung parked on the first street he could and got out of the car nervously, running his fingers through his black hair.
He needed air. He needed to calm his nerves.
You followed close behind him, descending through your door. If you were going to have that talk there and now then you wanted to have it face to face.
"I don't think this is a good time to have this conversation," he murmured, trying to calm his heartbeat.
"You want to talk about it in the cafeteria?" you pressed, raising an eyebrow in a challenging attitude.
Yesung was silent again, meticulously calculating the best way to broach the subject.
A confession in the middle of the road was not the scenario he had planned to do it, but technically you were cornering him and he didn't feel able to tolerate that pressure any longer.
"All right," he raised his hands in defeat, "I like you," he declared.
"That makes things easier."
You took his cheeks between your hands and pressed a kiss against his lips. It was an awkward and somewhat shaky touch, but it was enough for Yesung to confirm your feelings for him.
"It took you too long to admit it," you murmured, ready to give him another kiss. This time it would be a sweet and deep one, just like the feelings he awakened in you.
SHINDONG
Wires were crossing everywhere and getting tangled in different places. It was like watching snakes walking on the recording studio floor.
You had fought with the director on countless occasions to keep him from causing such a mess with the equipment components, so as not to cause an accident.
You immediately began to untangle everything, bundling the wires with plastic straps to prevent them from getting in the way again. The task became a little tedious as time went on.
"Careful," you heard one of the cameramen say.
Your feet stumbled on one of the many wires and you almost fell to the ground, the only thing that stopped your fall was Shindong's hand resting on your back to allow you to regain your balance.
"Thank you," you murmured before continuing to work as if it had never happened.
And in truth, that was not something strange for both of you. On several occasions the director had saved you from falling. He always seemed to be attentive to your footsteps.
Did you mistakenly walk on the wrong step in a stair? Shindong's hand was there to support you.
Were you going to fall because of an imperceptible stone in the path? Shindong held you by the shoulders to steady you.
He was always there, by chance or not, he always ended up helping you to keep you from falling.
After the wire incident, and still spending several days shooting the video of a girl group, it was time to pick up all the equipment they had used.
The boxes where they kept the props were filled one by one. Inside you could see balls, fans, colorful ribbons… there were too many things neatly stacked on top of each other.
As you were just another assistant, your duty was also to carry all that stuff to the small storage room of the recording studio.
Making a little effort, you carried one of the boxes with both arms and walked with it to the small space behind one of the camera cranes.
Carrying something so heavy was more complicated than you thought. It was not only the extra weight, but also the lack of mobility it entailed.
Once in front of the shelf, you did everything humanly possible to lift the box onto one of the many steps of the cabinet, but your arms could not support enough weight to lift it to a height above your head.
By accident you hit one of the metal bars of the cabinet and the boxes threatened to fall on top of you. Fortunately Shindong was there to stop it all and get you back to safety.
"Hey (Y/N), we didn't know you were his princess in distress," joked one of the workers.
"I'm not," you replied, squinting your eyes.
"Of course you are. He's just being careful with you. If I was about to be crushed to death by those boxes, I bet he'd leave me there and then make fun of me."
Another two cameramen nodded at his statement and you could do nothing but shake your head.
To you none of that was obvious, in fact it was completely natural for Shindong to help you. After all you were the only woman in the work team, and by simple logic it was only natural that he would be more attentive to you than to the rest.
At least that's what you thought until another woman joined and the differences started to become more noticeable.
The new girl had become entangled with the camera wires and was about to fall, the only thing that prevented the accident was the skillful way in which the woman managed to regain her balance with the camera on her shoulder.
Your gaze traveled to Shindong, who was a short distance from the scene and still had not prevented the girl's fall.
On another occasion the rookie almost got hit with one of the basketballs they were using for filming, but she dodged it just in time despite having screamed at the imminent danger.
Again Shindong was close by, but that didn't stop the accident from happening.
At that point you began to pay more attention to details you hadn't noticed before.
Like when Shindong started to put the prop boxes on the first steps of the furniture, making them more accessible to you.
Or when he saw to it that your place on the set was isolated from the fire they were going to use and in your place he placed someone else to be his assistant.
It seemed that you could no longer lie to yourself thinking that he was doing all this just for the sake of it. Now every little detail seemed to point to another reason that you didn't know if you wanted to know.
While you were watching him, your feet tripped over a wire and you almost fell to the ground, but then Shindong reacted and grabbed you by the shirt to break your fall.
That reaction earned the attention of everyone present along with the reddening of your face.
You needed to set the record straight. You needed to ask him for explanations before your head exploded.
"What is all this?"
"A recording studio. Did you hit your head when I wasn't around?"
"I'm not talking about that. I mean this." Your hands were moving, pointing at Shindong and then pointing at you effusively. "We."
He took your hand and pointed your finger at him, right in the middle of his chest.
"I'm the director," he then pointed your index finger at you, "and you're my assistant."
There it was again. He hadn't said AN assistant, he clearly said MY and that added more worry to your being.
"So why don't you treat me like the new girl?"
You were starting to feel more confident, like you had the whole situation under control even though you knew you were shaking like a jelly inside.
"Because she is she and you are you."
Your eyebrows rose waiting for him to add something more to that vague answer, but he just nodded as if that explained everything.
The frustration you felt grew as the conversation progressed.
"You are always around to help me if I need it. You take care of me all the time. You give me the simple tasks. You had refused to hire another woman. You didn't do that because she was she and I was myself, you didn't even know her!"
The volume of your words caught the attention of the few people who had been ignoring them.
"It sounds like you think I like you."
"That's what it sounds like."
"Because that's what it is."
Several groans of surprise were heard in the forum. Apparently the scene was more entertaining than the work they were supposed to be doing
"And why didn't you tell me that in the first place?" You kept claiming as panic spread inside you.
"Because the subject hadn't come up, and now that I've said it, you're still arguing."
"Well I―" you remained silent while your fingers fidgeting with each other "the truth is that―" your voice began to descend. Your voice began to lower. The words came out as if in a whisper "I like you too."
"It was so easy" his arm went around your shoulders, forcing you to stay close to him, walking side by side announcing to the world that you were together.
EUNHYUK
Your legs went up and down, sliding to the right and then to the left following the beat of the music.
Beads of sweat began to form on your forehead due to the heat and physical exertion. In spite of everything you were satisfied, smiling at the huge mirror that covered the entire wall of the rehearsal room.
Your calves were begging for a break, but you continued to push yourself to make every step perfect. Calculated.
"Perfect!" shouted Eunhyuk once the song came to an end.
With the euphoria of having executed the rehearsal to perfection, he bumped his hand against yours and drew you in to bump shoulders as partners, as two beings who shared a special camaraderie.
Sweat had left both of your skins sticky, but you didn't mind. You were more than used to it.
You pinched the edge of the collar of your shirt and began to stretch and contract the fabric to fan yourself, allowing cool air to circulate inside the garment.
"This choreography is very demanding," commented the idol leaning against the wall to slide his body to the floor.
You mimicked his movement and soon you were both sitting on the stave with your backs against the cool wall.
Your quickened breaths shared the same rhythm, your breasts rising and falling at the same speed.
That was your relationship. Two dancers who enjoyed doing their routines together.
Until one fine day the whole group was in the middle of their warm-up exercises to rehearse the new choreography. Because the steps were a bit complicated, you and Eunhyuk had modified it slightly. Nothing substantial.
The door opened and you entered with your sports bag in hand. You were ready to show them all what you and Hyuk had accomplished.
"It's hot in here. Good morning gentlemen," you greeted, bowing slightly in front of each of them.
Eunhyuk took the thermostat control in his hands and lowered the temperature slightly.
The sudden change made everyone turn to look at him with a puzzled expression.
"I just complained about the heat a moment ago and no one did anything," said Ryeowook, feeling offended.
"It must be what they call 'pretty privilege'. Too bad you're not a pretty dancer," you teased as you tied your hair in a messy bun.
"Or maybe it's the 'I love you privilege'," said Kyuhyun earning the laughter of the rest.
"Enough games, it's time to rehearse," you cut the conversation short by clapping your hands loudly to get their attention and calm the laughter.
The sound system gave no respite, nor did the idols that moved along with it.
Complaints had been reduced to a minimum and the shouts of excitement had increased. They had been at that pace for two hours until Leeteuk said it was time to take a break.
You stopped the music and they dropped to the floor breathing exaggeratedly.
The scrunchie holding your hair slid to the floor and the strands began to stick to your skin from the sweat. You didn't find the sensation pleasant.
Out of nowhere Eunhyuk picked up the rubber band and began to tie your hair absentmindedly while continuing to talk to Donghae about the plans they had for a future tour as a subunit.
The room fell silent. You remained static. Eunhyuk kept talking but Donghae couldn't understand what was going on.
His fingers combed through your hair and held each strand before putting the scrunchie in place.
"I knew it!" shouted Yesung laughing loudly.
Sudden heat rose from your abdomen to your face, staining everything crimson in its wake.
Eunhyuk let go of your hair as if it burned his hand. His face blushing violently as he tried to get away from the place at all costs.
His footsteps led him towards the exit of the rehearsal room and he quickened his pace until he started running down the hallway.
An uncomfortable silence fell over everyone inside the room. Eight pairs of eyes were watching you with hundreds of questions welling up in them. But no one dared to say them aloud.
"He must like you too much. I'll go get him," announced Siwon standing up to go chase after the dancer.
"Since when has this been so obvious to you?"
You hid your face in your hands, trying not to make the scene even more embarrassing. Trying to disappear in that instant without leaving any trace.
"He's always treated you differently from the other dancers," Leeteuk replied with a sympathetic smile. "We thought you would have noticed that long ago."
"He always sits next to you, practices dances only with you and even talks about you after you've left," Donghae added.
You closed your eyes and pinched the bridge of your nose as if knowing all that was giving you a migraine.
"I'll talk to him."
Your tied hair stuck out from the back of the black cap that covered your head, the ponytail swaying with the sway of your footsteps as you walked hurriedly through the halls.
You peeked your face out of one of the windows and finally saw Eunhyuk arguing with Siwon in the parking lot. The scene was quite strange.
Without a second thought you started running towards the elevator to get downstairs as soon as possible. You couldn't let him escape from what he had already provoked.
The elevator doors opened and you ran out like an exhalation. Your steps didn't stop until you were in front of the dancer.
"You fool!" you shouted at him as you jumped a little, wrapping your legs around his waist.
The idol held you from behind and froze in front of you.
Seizing the moment you kissed him even though you were short of breath. His muscles tensed and his hands pressed hard on your back, pulling you closer to him, deepening the kiss.
Your legs began to lose strength and your weight gave way, but Eunhyuk was still holding you against his body.
"I like you," whispered the idol, closing his eyes and resting his forehead against yours.
"I know that already, silly. I like you too."
A small reminder that requests are open, if you don't feel good sending messages in english, you cand send your request in spanish too (since I can work properly with that language).
If you only wanna fangirling or make any question my messages are open for you too
