Go check out my alternate account where I write short stories (not fanfiction)
Here’s one based around the Kuru disease
Kuru disease is a disease contracted by eating a human brain. It causes you to go manic and laugh uncontrollably. This is about a boy living in poor conditions and his parents forced him into cannibalism (this part is vaguely wrote about, not in detail). It’s about all his symptoms and how it affected him.

A little boy named Mark Sullen, his parents conceived him in the US, but when they were caught without papers, they were sent back to their home country. Mark was put into foster care from age five to ten. They were caught because people in that neighborhood kept reporting a small child around age six was caught near a camp site. They reported he looked malnourished, covered in scraps. People had already been going missing in the town, so authorities were quick to investigate.
When they showed up, it seemed like a nice camp. Three big tents, utensils, water. It was well put together for what little this family had. Behind the came were tubs, blood smear on the side. They assumed it was animal meat because of the 22 leaned up against it.
They would’ve questioned the family, but no one was seemed to be home.
The authorities came back the next day, this time in the morning. The tubs were gone, and the family was back. They quickly found out that these people didn’t speak a lick of English. Collecting their names, they later found out they weren’t legal. Seeing the poor conditions of this child, he was put into the system and the parents were sent back to their country until they got legalized.
Ten-year-old Mark now lives with Jean and Patrick Ridges. He’s gotten little meat on his bone and has learned English, or at least somewhat. Jean loved Mark with all her heart. He was her baby boy. She helped him with school work, cooked his favorite meals, coaxed him through his night terrors. Both of the foster parents knew their son was troubled, but it wasn’t until he was twelve did they noticed.
Jean was in the kitchen, cleaning off the bar. Mark was in the living area, watching TV. She heard her boy giggle, and she smiled to herself. His giggle turned into a laugh. A laugh that continued for a few seconds. She glanced up to see what was so funny.
She chuckled. “What’re you gigglin’ about?” She asked, a teasing edge to her voice.
Mark continued to laugh, and she felt a spike of hurt at his lack of response. She places the rag back down and walks to the couch, seeing Mark laying down. He was clutching his chest, laughing hysterically as tears stream down his rose-tinted cheeks.
He’s laughing, but his hand gripping at his chest showed that he was not enjoying this laughing fit. Concern filled Jean, and she grabs her son, holding him up and trying not to panic. Patrick was at work, so she felt slightly helpless.
“Alright, baby. You gotta get up. I’m gonna take you to the doctor.” She lifted the boy up, but Mark couldn’t walk straight. He stumbled, holding onto his mother as he laughs uncontrollably through his sobs. His tears screamed at her for help.
Upon entering the office, the boy is rushed to a room. The medics take a multitude of tests: thyroid, folic acid level, and the functionality of the boy’s liver and kidney. They evaluate him and soon his laughing ceases when he passes out from exhaustion.
He’s not allowed home.
Week after week he grows worse. His mind clouded by paranoia. He’s unable to read well or even speak. He shakes uncontrollably. As weeks pass he becomes harder and harder to understand. Doctors were debating on just institutionalizing him to free up hospital rooms.
Within twelve months, the boy is bedridden. Left to rot in his tears, laughs, and twitchy body. Doctors have been speculating what might be wrong, but the only thing can think of is something that makes any sane person’s stomach churn in disgust.
Dr. Sens is the one to finally bring it to a conclusion. He brought this forth to the police, who rummaged through reports of the boy’s living condition before foster care. There are pictures. Those tubs in the brought this man’s attention.
They had no food source. People started going missing. Now a boy lays before him with a rare disease steaming from cannibalism. The “coincidence” is uncanny.
It’s hard to look at the poor boy shake as he becomes unable to swallow his food after knowing that the food he once ate was of his own species. Of course, it wasn’t Mark’s fault, but that doesn’t ease the doctor’s nausea.

"There could easily be a book written on 101 ways to reuse a human corpse, but for this episode’s sake, the duo discuss some of the most common instances through history that bodies have been used for some odd ends goals."
Another interesting episode about death and all the wild practices corpses have been used for in history.
I'm really enjoying this podcast these last few months. I suggest anyone with fascination with the subject to listen! So fun, informative and funny too!

No, not so much for ethical reasons (although I am a vegetarian, and without permission I think it's pretty mean to eat someone. Don't desecrate corpses without prior authorization), but because of prions like kuru, which killed a large number of Papua New Guinea's Fore peoples in one of the worst ways imaginable. This article explains it very well, and I recommend reading the entire thing, but major trigger warning.
Thanks, Anon!

i have the burning need to write one of those "came back wrong" fics for wwx when they find him again after the first three months in the burial mounds during the sunshot campaign but like. i need to make it REALLY bad
his body shattered when he hit the ground, and resentful energy is the only thing keeping him together. it's so agonising he's learned a way to deaden himself to the chronic pain, to the point that he can get sliced by a sword and literally not feel it, even when he's being patched up again afterwards.
he can barely eat. everything tastes like ash. the smell of meat reminds him of the carrion he was forced to consume to survive. jiang yanli starts preparing vegetarian soups for him filled with even more spice just so he can taste something.
he can't put weight on, but also isn't losing any, and he's pale with sunken cheeks and when he changes to clean himself every single joint seems like its one wrong twist away from bursting through his paper-thin skin.
wwx took in nearly all of the resentful energy in the burial mounds to keep himself alive, to hold him together. there are a thousand ghosts living under his skin, constantly screaming and chattering and whispering, not a single second of true silence. when they're packed in so close to his soul sometimes he forgets that he isn't a we, speaks in plurals and has memories and knowledge that the teenage head disciple of the yunmeng jiang should never have acquired.
that amount of resentful energy would be enough to poison anyone's mind, but only wen qing has read the studies conducted on the effects of consuming human flesh on the living. wei wuxian's brain is slowly deforming, proteins folding all wrong as the prions wrack the entire organ. he has seizures, hallucinates, unpredictable mood swings.
it's clear to literally everyone that wei wuxian is a literal dead man walking. even after the sunshot campaign is finished and he goes home to yunmeng, there is no chance of him getting better, even if they purged all the resentment from him and let his skeleton break apart again. he rescues the wen remnants and brings them back to lotus pier, but wen qing can't fix this. all his siblings and friends can do is watch as each day the wwx they know and love continues to disappear, until all thats left is a skeletal figure unable to move, periodically laughing and mumbling to himself, trapped entirely in delusion as his brain continues to destroy itself.
wwx still dies horribly. but this time he dies surrounded by his loved ones, all tied together by their love for wwx, forming strong and unbreakable bonds.
and eventually, when a young depressed boy still gives his life for revenge, wwx is given a second chance in a body that is whole and unbroken with a brain that works properly, and his siblings and lan zhan and wen qing and all the others welcome him home.

people saying that any consumption of human tissue carries some massive risk of prion disease seem kind of foolish tbh, you can only get prion disease if you have prion proteins in you (either by ingesting them or from a protein misfolding spontaneously), so if the person you're eating doesn't have prion disease (ie didnt have prions in them) the risk is low, probably not far above baseline

Medical and/or cannibal side of Tumblr, out of curiosity, hypothetically, what negative health effects could cannibalism have? I know that you can get Kuru or however the hell you call the prion disease from eating a brain, but that's all I know. Are there any more?

Uh
These two
Tumblr media
Would anybody like to buy her? 5 bucks for one cannibalistic 13 year old who should not be alive. Not because she is a terrible person (well… she is) but she is permanently stuck at a part of kuru disease that should’ve killed her by now.
These are technically the same person??? Dream Demon Sala and Corrupted Sala are their names (L to R) and they are other beings that are part of Sala’s species (THEY ARE NOT THE RESULT OF ANY DISORDERS‼️‼️ they would be HORRIBLE examples of DID or anything like that!!). They just live in Sala’s Mindscape and hang out.
I do have a poll for those who are interested, however
I love my silly guys
They have reasons for existing I promise 😍😍
If you have any questions about them (or FOR them?? Hehe) just go to my ask box

hamham - making my sister feel physical pain while studying #1
so dorci just asked me why she has to study kuru for biology 10 minutes of explaining later, after touching on mad cow disease, brains, pork rinds, and how gummy bears are made, i think i've accidentally made her vegan
