From Putin updating the russian nuclear doctrine (aka, giving himself the right to whatever he wants, whenever he wants):
I would also like to draw your attention to something else in particular. The updated version of the document proposes that aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear-weapon state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear-weapon state, should be regarded as a joint attack on the Russian Federation. The conditions for Russia's transition to the use of nuclear weapons are also clearly set out. We will consider such a possibility if we receive reliable information about a massive launch of aerospace attack means and their crossing of our State border. I am referring to strategic and tactical aircraft, cruise missiles, drones, hypersonic and other aircraft.
SOURCE: Kremlin website http://kremlin.ru/events/president/news/75182
This is kept vague and as if it were an actual issue russia faces. But given the immense specificness of this scenario, it's clear that the vague wording only exists to justify a scenario that's specifically about them facing the consequences for the war against Ukraine which they started.
After all, equating an attack by a non-nuclear-armed state with a joint one by it and any nuclear-armed ones supporting it is a nonsensical concept which has nothing to do with how war works. Putin just wants to avoid getting hit with missiles from Ukrainian territory as the consequence of hitting Ukraine with missiles from russian territory since day 1 of his bullshit war. Obviously, doing that would not be an escalation on Ukraine's part, and if russia wants to equate Ukraine with its supporters, that logic could be applied to China, Iran and North Korea, too.
The idea that any conventional attack can justify a nuclear response is, of course, also completely false and uniquely russian, as is making clear that you have no no-first-use policy, while officially claiming to have one. This is Orwellian doublespeak and obviously an attempt at clothing blatant aggression as defense. It's not defense when territory you do not own is attacked by its owners, and that attack is not an aggression. It's justice, something the cowards in the Kremlin who hide their children at universities in the oh-so-evil US are deathly afraid of.
It may be the typical russian hypocrisy, self-righteousness, victim complex, rapist method of fusing victim-blaming with threats and cowardly aggression one should be used to by now, but the moral bankruptcy of it does not cease to disgust me. It's really difficult to put my hatred into words. I don't need any propaganda to hate russia, they're doing just fine instilling that feeling in me by themselves via their unending lies, crimes and global terrorism. I never cared much about russia before their invasion in 2022. Now I hate them.
While everyone would, for some reason, prefer to scream about the idiots in Israel and Palestine, this conflict has put all modern political customs and standards of humanity at stake. The aggressor commits war crimes with a frequency which I genuinely haven't seen matched by any power in any war over many decades and routinely threatens to destroy the entire world with nuclear weapons over their victim fighting back. Only NATO members talk about this and treat Ukraine's fight for survival as a side gig. The entire world fails to see the gravity of this, which must stop! They must come together to stop the obvious, literally evil villain, russia!

Putin blames Ukraine for the terrorist attack and condemns the journalist for “extremism.” Instead of fighting terrorism - shelling of Ukraine.
You are watching news from the weekly rally at the Russian Embassy in Lisbon. Today is March 30, 14:30.
As of March 27, the death toll as a result of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall reached 143 people. https://www.rbc.ru/society/27/03/2024/660455979a7947006ce1aae9
Responsibility for the terrorist attack was claimed by Vilayat Khorasan, an Afghan-Pakistani ISIS cell that is fighting the “empires of infidels,” including Russia. US intelligence considers her responsible for the terrorist attack. https://meduza.io/feature/2024/03/23/otvetstvennost-za-terakt-v-krokuse-vzyala-na-sebya-yacheyka-igil-vilayat-horasan-kak-voznikla-eta-gruppirovka-i-pochemu-ona-schitaet-rossiyu-odnim-iz-svoih-glavnyh-vragov
On March 25, at a meeting about the terrorist attack, Putin said that he sees that “the United States … are trying to convince … the countries of the world that, according to their intelligence data, there is supposedly no Kyiv trace in the Moscow terrorist attack.” http://kremlin.ru/events/president/news/73732
On March 23, a video was published showing one of those detained on suspicion of committing a terrorist attack having his ear cut off and stuffed into his mouth. https://novayagazeta.eu/articles/2024/03/23/pravye-telegram-kanaly-rasprostraniaiut-video-gde-odnomu-iz-zaderzhannykh-terroristov-otrezaiut-ukho-i-zasovyvaiut-emu-v-rot-news
Another accused of committing a terrorist attack was taken to court in a wheelchair and fully admitted his guilt. https://iz.ru/1671110/2024-03-25/chetvertyi-obviniaemyi-v-terakte-v-krokuse-pribyl-v-sud-na-kresle-katalke
Retired police captain Nikolai Korolev in an interview at Khodorkovsky Live said that the Rosguardia base is located 30 minutes from the place of the terrorist attack, but the assault began when the terrorists had already left. https://www.youtube.com/live/AWTNHky6vkA?feature=shared&t=3100
Politician Vladimir Milov, in a program on the Alexander Plyushchev channel, said that Putin and the FSB had enough information, not only from the United States, and they allowed the terrorist attack to happen. He also believes that they needed a reason to revive the anti-Ukrainian discourse. https://youtu.be/MUfjnpXvPAQ?feature=shared&t=226
The Committee 2024 association said that the terrorist attack at Crocus helped divert attention from the non-recognition of Putin as the legitimate president of Russia. They propose to join the lawsuit to cancel the results of the pseudo-elections. Russian security forces only know how to fight unarmed citizens. SotaVision journalist Antonina Favorskaya was detained because of filming in the cemetery where politician Alexei Navalny, who was killed in prison, is buried. Antonina is on trial for contacts with the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which the Russian authorities have called extremist. https://zona.media/online/2024/03/29/antonina
Instead of fighting terrorism within its own country, the Russian army has intensified terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. On March 22, the Dnieper hydroelectric power station was seriously damaged and Kharkov was completely power cut. https://www.bbc.com/russian/articles/c4n7pjxgl83o
Putin’s troops use hypersonic missiles, which fly from Crimea to Kyiv in 7-10 minutes. https://www.unian.net/weapons/ataki-rf-po-ukraine-ekspert-obyasnil-chem-otlichayutsya-rakety-cirkon-i-kinzhal-12584301.html
Deputy Andrei Lugovoy, speaking on Vladimir Solovyov’s propaganda show, said that Kharkov needs to be de-energized to such an extent that it becomes inviable. And he proposed to do the same with other cities. In 2006, Lugovoi poisoned FSB lieutenant colonel Alexander Litvinenko, who escaped to the UK. https://www.youtube.com/live/AWTNHky6vkA?feature=shared&t=576
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky expects a large-scale offensive by Russian troops in May-June. He said that Ukraine right now needs help in the form of supplies, first of all, of artillery ammunition supplies and Patriot air defense systems. https://www.moscowtimes.ru/2024/03/28/zelenskii-vsu-ne-gotovi-k-rossiiskomu-nastupleniyu-v-mae-iyune-a126102
We appeal to the international community and ask to provide Ukraine with all the necessary weapons.

A common feature at cemeteries outside many midsize Russian cities and towns is a separate necropolis of headstones bearing the names of (mostly) young men who perished sometime between 1991 and 2000. They died during the chaos that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union—victims of crime and violence, mainly, but also of disease, alcoholism, and drug abuse. While these graveyards and the wave of death they represent are the subject of morbid fascination for the rest of the world, in Russia itself they are reminders of an era of national disgrace and humiliation, which Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned on many occasions. The idea that Putin pulled Russia out of that era is one of his most consistent political campaign messages; his official website, kremlin.ru, contains dozens of derogatory remarks about the chaotic 1990s in Russia. They regularly feature in his state of the union speeches, annual press conferences, and interviews.
Putin’s assumption of power on Dec. 31, 1999, bookended a decade which indeed contained many elements of collapsing statehood. Amid general destitution and growing inequality, criminal anarchy, shootouts between rival gangs, and revenge bombings were a regular occurrence. Life expectancy for Russian men rapidly sank. These and other factors, including mass emigration, contributed to a period of unprecedented demographic decline: Each year between 1994 and 2008, Russia’s population decreased by several hundred thousand people, reaching the nadir of almost 1 million in 2000, Putin first full year in power.
Today, there are fresh graveyard lots across Russia, some covering an area as large as several football fields. Instead of a few kitschy mausoleums, there are dozens and often hundreds of fresh mounds of earth with simple, identical crosses bearing men’s names. Their years of death are the same: 2022 and 2023. Some of them were born in 2000 or later, in the early years of Putin’s reign. The fatality numbers are astonishing: By even the most conservative estimates, in a single year of its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has already lost more men than in the 10-year Soviet-Afghan War and First Chechen War—combined.
The preponderance of death made visible at the country’s cemeteries isn’t the only way Russia is returning to the 1990s. Today’s Russians once again struggle with growing violence, economic instability, and a flood of mentally and physically broken veterans. They once again face a failed war, broken society, and national humiliation. For a leader whose signature claim to power has been the banishment of 1990s-era chaos in Russia—for which the loss of political freedom, in his supporters’ eyes, was a small price to pay—the return of the 1990s could well become a threat to his rule.
Some of the deaths on display at graveyards across Russia won’t be mourned by many people. Those recruited by the Wagner Group from prisons where they were serving sentences for anything from minor narcotics-related offenses to the most depraved murders are seen as politically irrelevant and thus expendable. Most of them have already been written off by society: young men from very poor or broken families, driven to low-key drug dealing and petty theft to sponsor an addiction, or orphans brutalized by Russia’s system of orphanages and foster care.
Those soldiers who have managed to return home alive—and their families—aren’t faring much better. Already, Russian authorities are struggling to take care of at least 750,000 veterans who have served in Ukraine, according to a leaked document from a charity led by a relative of Putin. This number, too, tops the total for Moscow’s most catastrophic and humiliating military defeats of the past 40 years: the Afghan campaign and the First Chechen War. In both, Soviet and then Russian armies were met with fierce resistance from locals who did not want to be conquered, and civilians bore the brunt of brutal retributions. Before the atrocities perpetrated by Russian soldiers in Bucha, Ukraine, there was the mass murder of civilians in Samashki, Chechnya, in 1995. Before that, there were many massacres committed by Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The Kremlin deployed around 600,000 soldiers to the two wars, and many of those who returned were physically and spiritually broken, conditioned to extreme violence, and prone to bouts of depression and suicide. Some found no place for themselves in civilian society and joined one of the many numerous organized crime groups of the early 1990s.
A similar wave is already bubbling up in Russia today. Every day, there are reports about Ukraine veterans engaged in violence—randomly attacking passersby, stabbing their wife to death in a drunken frenzy in front of their children, or other crimes. Others didn’t need a war to be introduced to wanton criminality: Some of Wagner’s most notorious outlaws, convicted for murders and mutilations of incomprehensible cruelty, have been released back into society as the promised reward for shooting Ukrainians, and a few have almost immediately gone on new killing rampages. Just like in the 1990s, there seems to be no plan for any psychological support for soldiers returning from an active war zone. Just like back then, they are mostly left to their own devices. A flood of firearms allegedly being smuggled from Ukraine back to Russia by returning troops isn’t helping to curb outbursts of spontaneous violence.
Many of the contract soldiers and the recently mobilized who perished in Ukraine were fathers and their family’s sole breadwinners, whose sudden, tragic disappearance leaves a gaping hole in the fabric of society. As the 1990s aptly demonstrated, the decline doesn’t stop with the deceased; as families are torn apart, the war’s wounds already transcend generations. Just like social, demographic, and economic decline begot each other in the 1990s, today’s Russian economy suffers, too, as its most active subjects perish en masse due to the war and its attendant socioeconomic factors. Male life expectancy has taken a hit, and the instability discourages childbirth.
Russian men of the generation currently being wiped out in Ukraine were born at the bottom of the previous demographic dip, when Russia’s fertility rate was at its lowest in many decades. Less than one year before the invasion, the demographers at the Russian Economic Development Ministry were already predicting the loss of more than 1.7 million people over four years. Today, the situation looks even grimmer. While Russian officials downplay it as merely “concerning,” independent demographers call it a “catastrophe,” predicting a return next year to a low in the fertility rate not seen since World War II.
Even before the invasion, Russia’s atrocious handling of the COVID-19 pandemic guaranteed that pandemic-era mortality already surpassed the worst demographic dip of the 1990s—the era of chaos instrumentalized by Putin to justify his rule. Add the devastating effects of the war, and Russia is already looking worse than the “wild” decade in many key areas. Except the 1990s, so consistently demonized by Putin, were also a time of great hope and political freedom unseen by many generations before. The Russian State Duma was a place of genuine political debate. A variety of national media mercilessly attacked the government and exposed the horrors of Russia’s wars; there was an explosion of uncensored art. All of these positive sides of the 1990s would be incomprehensible to an 18-year-old coming of age around 2020—when most civil liberties were already wiped out—just to be drafted into the army and killed in Ukraine in 2022.
This is one of many of Putin’s broken promises to Russians. Gone is the social contract between the Kremlin and Russia’s emerging middle class, which traded political participation for social and economic “stability.” Time and time again, Putin invoked the excesses of the 1990s and promised to lead Russians to a better future; instead, he is dragging them toward an unprecedented decline. His newest promise is to “return” Russia’s “historic lands”—but there are simply fewer and fewer Russians to populate them. And fresh grave lots keep growing by the day.

Far-Right Surge in French Election: What's Next for Macron and Opponents?
Tumblr media
In the aftermath of the first round of voting in the French election, Marine Le Pen's National Rally has emerged as a leading force, positioning itself on the brink of potentially making history with a far-right government. As France prepares for the final round of voting on July 7, the political landscape is fraught with uncertainty and strategic maneuvering. Current Political Landscape Marine Le Pen's National Rally secured a significant lead in the initial voting round, surpassing both President Emmanuel Macron's centrist coalition and the left-wing alliance. This unexpected outcome marks a pivotal moment in French politics, where the prospect of a far-right government governing for the first time in the modern republic's history is now a distinct possibility. Kremlin.ru, CC BY 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0, via Wikimedia Commons Implications for France and Europe The implications of this electoral shift extend beyond national borders. A National Rally victory could redefine France's position within the European Union and NATO, potentially influencing regional stability and international relations. The rise of populist sentiments in France mirrors trends seen across Europe, posing challenges to established political norms and alliances. Macron's Strategy and Dilemma President Emmanuel Macron now faces a critical decision: whether to rally centrist forces against the National Rally or explore alliances with leftist opponents to block Marine Le Pen's ascent to power. This strategic dilemma underscores broader debates over democratic governance and the balance of political power in France. Challenges and Alliances As the countdown to the final round begins, political parties are engaged in intensive negotiations and strategic calculations. Key battleground constituencies will witness fierce competition as candidates vie for support and attempt to persuade third-place finishers to withdraw from the race, potentially consolidating opposition votes against the far right. Public Opinion and Uncertainty Despite the strategic calculations of political leaders, voter behavior remains unpredictable. Many voters disregard party instructions, complicating efforts to predict the final outcome. The National Rally's openness to coalition-building adds an additional layer of uncertainty, introducing complexities to an already contentious electoral contest. What Lies Ahead As France enters the decisive phase of its election, the stakes are exceptionally high. The outcome will not only determine the immediate political landscape but also resonate across Europe. Whether President Macron and his political rivals can effectively counter the far-right surge will shape the trajectory of French politics and its impact on the continent at large. The next few days will be pivotal as France navigates through this critical juncture in its democratic process. The world watches closely as the French electorate prepares to cast their votes, weighing the balance between continuity and change, stability and upheaval. The outcome of the July 7 election will undoubtedly shape the future of France and reverberate throughout Europe, influencing the course of European integration and the dynamics of global politics. China is Making Highly Advanced Self-Propelled Artillery - Technology Org
Some months ago China introduced a new self-propelled howitzer SH16, which is very different from many other weapons of this type. Now there is a wheeled version of the SH16 too and it will reportedly be developed for export markets.
Chinese troops in a Victory Day parade in Moscow. Image credit: Kremlin.ru via Wikimedia (CC BY 4.0)
A self-propelled howitzer is a complex artillery system that requires people to operate. The German Panzerhaubitze 2000, the Polish Krab, and the South Korean K9 Thunder typically have a crew of five, while the American M109 sometimes has as many as 6 soldiers in its crew. It takes several strong soldiers to load a howitzer. It is true that now the military tech is moving down the road of crew reduction. The PzH 2000 is being taught to work with four people, the K9A2 can get by with just three.
Howitzers with automatic loaders can be handled by much smaller crews. But there are not many of such weapons, because the automatic loading mechanism is a rather complex system, which can be unreliable at times. A very reliable loader is needed to really reduce the size of the crew.
The Swedish Archer, which is easily one of the most advanced self-propelled artillery systems in the world, can operate efficiently with a crew of just 3-4 people. If it was really needed, just one person would be enough for the Archer. The Czech howitzer DITA has a crew of just 2 people. These two howitzers are perfect for shoot-and-scoot operations, especially in scenarios where counter-battery fire is needed.
China’s new self-propelled howitzer SH16 joins the ranks of the world’s most advanced artillery systems in this regard, Tech.wp.pl reports. Its most important innovation is an unmanned, fully automated turret mounted on a tracked chassis with a crew of just 2 people.
SH-16 howitzer. Image credit: YouTube video screenshot
As you can tell from the other examples mentioned, this is not entirely unique, but it shows that the Chinese are producing extremely advanced artillery systems and are not taking the cheapest route. It’s not like China lacks soldiers to man the simpler, cheaper howitzers. It’s just that the SH16 will work more efficiently, faster and, in the event of a war, will put fewer soldiers in danger.
The SH16 is reported to weigh 32 tonnes, 14 of which are the turret housing the 155mm gun. The same turret from the SH16, as announced in February of this year, will also be mounted on a wheeled 6×6 chassis.
Dennis Blasko, a former US defence attache in Beijing and Hong Kong, told Defense News that a wheeled version of the SH16 would be aimed at the export market.
[embedded content]
By the way, the tracked version of the SH16 howitzer has not yet been shown in public much at all. That howitzer likely only exists in prototype form.
The war in Ukraine showed that self-propelled artillery is still very important in modern warfare. Especially howitzers that are powerful and quick to move before counter-battery fire and drones arrive.

PUTIN: Permita-me desejar-lhe sucesso. Também estamos interessados nisso. Cecchini : Muito obrigada. “Overseas, China’s intensified aggression toward its neighbors and Hamas’s terror campaign against Israel are beginning to stretch US attention and resources across multiple theaters.”
How times have changed. During WWII, we had no problems fighting TWO huge wars, one in Europe/Atlantic/North Arica, and one in the huge western Pacific region. Not only that, we were able to arm the entire allied forces, including the Soviet Union. We built one so-called Liberty ship EACH day. Why is bat virus land getting more aggressive? Because they see how wobbly the free world has gotten with the ware in Ukraine. The conclusion that bat virus land has arrived at, is; wage an aggression long enough and the West will simply collapse in due time.

Dinamika Hari Pengetahuan di Rusia
Tumblr media
Dalam bahasa Rusia, Knowledge Day disebut День Знаний (Dyen Znaniy).

Read the full article
