Knight Rider (1982-6), Code of Vengeance (1985), 2000 (1991), 2010 (1994), and Knight Rider (2008-9)
A man partnered with an experimental, high-tech, sentient car stops crimes and helps those without the means to help themselves.
One of the better features is the dynamic between the lead character and KITT since they can explore human behaviour as well as doing entertaining stunts or using gadgets. The antagonists were real world villains like bankers, gang members, and corrupt government workers, a trend which seemed more acceptable to portray on screen in the 80s.
Although the motto is that one man can make a difference, it doesn’t make much difference which man it is since fundamentally there’s little change between original and reboot, even the character personality is essentially the same. Although the original KITT seemed to have a bit more sass about him.
The reboot has a more varied cast, while the original was somewhat lacking in female representation aside from brief love interests. The stories work a little better when they’re treated seriously with some humour on the side, or if it’s entirely one or the other but not so much when a serious situation has comedy inserted since it falls flat as well as reducing the drama.
Of the films, 2000 was the better one since it was like an extra long episode. The one in the future felt entirely irrelevant, had poor acting, and wasn’t a strong set-up. Code of Vengeance was a spin-off film to introduce its own series but it wasn’t close to as strong without a gimmick like the talking car, the 2008 introduction film worked better.
Knight Rider original series: 5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-
Code of Vengeance: 3/10 -This one’s bad but it’s got some good in it, just there-
Knight Rider 2000: 4/10 -It’s below average, but only just!-
Knight Rider 2010: 2/10 -It’s not THE worst, that’s something else. But…-
Knight Rider 2008 film: 5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-
Knight Rider reboot series: 5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-
-Several allusions are made to Knights throughout the series, the logo on the truck is the knight chess piece, and Michael’s middle name is Arthur, as in the king and knight.
-The same voice actor plays KARR in both the original series and reboot.
-When KITT auto-cruises in the original series it was achieved by a stunt driver controlling the vehicle dressed as the driver seat.

Started watching more of Granbelm and I'm starting to piece together what it is about a lot of Madoka-inspired/edgy Magical Girl shows that seem to be patterned slightly after Madoka that never really appeals to me.
This isn't going to be about Granbelm specifically, which I'm still watching; I have no real opinions on it so far other than "giant robots with magical girls is a good formula, more people should do that." Indeed, it's why I'm curious about the show in the first place (I love Magic Knight Rayearth).
(Content warning: There's some mention of suicide.)
It's not that I don't like darker shows now and then--you can already tell just by looking through my blog here--it's more that I just don't particularly care for battle royale/death game-type stories. I started thinking about this because I was talking to a friend about how I was considering finally reading The Hunger Games, which I put off for about a decade. I always felt kind of squeamish at the idea of kids getting into a fight to the death where only one person can survive and the others die horribly. This was back in 2012 or so; I've since then reconsidered things, and the political themes of the series do appeal to me (I have, however, watched the movies with friends; I even watched Battle Royale, which I don't particularly consider The Hunger Games a rip-off of, but it's the other death-game story people bring up when the latter is mentioned).
And people often do consider Madoka a battle royale-like story (going off to similarities between it and Kamen Rider Ryuki, which I have also watched), but I never really saw it as one, to be honest. It's true that Mami says that Magical Girls will fight each other for resources and territory, but then actually look at the plot of the original twelve-episode show, and... there's only two girls who fight each other. Moreover, the reasons for their fight aren't really tied to the need for Grief Seeds so much as them having very different ideas of how a Magical Girl should act. And that rivalry lasts about two episodes before it gets dropped as Kyubey's machinations become more apparent. Additionally, a lot of these battle royale-type shows always have people fighting with a fixed goal in mind (some prize/wish getting granted). In the context of Madoka, the wishes are granted before the girls fight, so it always felt like an inverse of that to me.
A lot of these shows that feel post-Madoka in their own way also operate on the concept of "more is better," in my opinion. As if in order to draw attention to themselves, they have to up the ante of what they thought people liked about the show. You know, "People liked when Sayaka and Kyouko fought for two episodes in PMMM, so now we'll have all the girls fighting," along with "People liked the five girls in PMMM, well we have more than five now," and "People like the angst and trauma the girls have to go through, so we'll just up that and make it so they're borderline suicidal." (Even PMMM's spin-offs are victim to this thinking, including the ones I personally like.) And this is where I disagree; more doesn't always equal good. I liked the simplicity of the original PMMM. Less characters also means more room for them to develop and for us to understand their issues.
I suppose this is an attempt by others to find what made PMMM work and replicate that ad infinitum for maximum profit, but as someone like me--who encountered PMMM in a bubble in the late 2010s, completely devoid of knowledge regarding the discourse surrounding it and its followers, because I was in college and barely did much in terms of anime fandoms for most of that decade--that isn't what really appeals to me about PMMM.
For me, what appeals to me about PMMM as its own story is a combination of its surreal/dissonant imagery of bright colors contrasted with darker ones, and just the idea of people trying to make their way in the world even though the world seems so callous. I mentioned it on Twitter that when I first watched the show, I was just out of school (beat a huge exam that I needed to take to pass), and I was thinking of all the possibilities of what my life out of college would be like. I was also dealing with someone I know committing suicide, so I was in this weird zone of struggling with the best moment of my life (currently), and one of the worst things that could have happened to me and people I know. Even what Madoka does in the end, I was fine with that. It reminds me of Guillermo del Toro's comments for his writing for Pan's Labyrinth, which also (spoilers) has a female protagonist in a cold world make a huge choice at the risk of her own life to do something that's for the greater good. That idea that, even a small change can have a ripple effect that affects other people. (Rebellion is a whole other discussion.)
Maybe it's because my initial viewing of PMMM is tied to that time, but none of the later post-Madoka type of shows have ever really gotten my attention that way. And I've personally come to the conclusion that the original twelve episodes of PMMM, while fine on their own and for their own story, are a terrible model to use as inspiration for other magical girl stories (which is why I didn't mind MagiReco just straight up throwing things out in the original game).
Everyone probably has different opinions about this; that's fine. I'm just talking about my own experiences here. It is what it is, in the end.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I just think Spider Daleks are fucking stupid and exactly the kind of unnecessary flashiness you'd expect from the guy who brought you Knight Rider 2010 and that rejected Omen pilot.
#doctor who#daleks#john leekley#man i'm trying not to spoil my review too heavily but this thing is just#it's truly unbearable#spider daleks#also why is john leekley seemingly only capable of working on failed pilots#one of the worst track records

Sidenotes to my larger project Cienie's take on Mandalorian culture. Gathering evidence on the cult of Kad Ha'rangir and the correlation between the Mandalorian warriors (their biological species) and the melee weapons. Source: Star Wars Mandalorian Miniatures by Wizards of the Coast (2004 - 2010)
ANCIENT TIMES
Set 1 (Taungs): Taung warrior, Mandalore the Indomitable, Mandalore the Ultimate
-> Taung warrior is most likely to represent pre-Mandalorian culture as the character lacks an armor, Indomitable has a mythosaur ax (Sith War era), Ultimate carries blaster (Mandalorian Wars era)
Set 2: Mandalorians from Bounty Hunter set (2006).
-> No named characters but additional quotes from their cards and being included with Mandalore the Indomitable & basilisk war droid without Neo-Crusader rider strongly imply the Sith War era.
-> Mandalorian warrior and Blademaster carry a melee weapons. Are they Taung!Mandalorians or humans, there is no way to deduce for sure. KotOR Campaign Guide says human warriors already were part of Mandalorian army during Sith War era.
Set 3: Neo-Crusaders and Ordo Canderous + plus Mandalorian Commander I forgot to add (Mandalorian Wars and post-Mandalorian Wars / Knights of the Old Republic era)
-> Canderous Ordo carry no traditional mythosaur ax nor sword, just blaster
-> there is no way to tell for sure who is under the helmet, but during the Mandalorian Wars humans became a common sight between Mandalorians warriors as Taung species were dying out already. However the armor strongly implies Neo-Crusaders movement thus there is a great chance those figures are in fact humans.
-> Mandalorian Jedi Hunter (from Dark Times set) has an additional description: “Some of the scattered survivors of the Mandalorian Wars seek out Jedi to punish for their humiliation.” There weren’t that many Taung!Mandalorians after the war, so the chance of human/non-Taung character increases.
MODERN TIMES
Set 4: Modern Mandalorians
-> Republic Commando Training Sergeant - based on Kal Skirata, Republic Comics series.
-> Mandalorian Gunslinger - based on Rav Bralor, Republic Commando (according to RebelScum.com)
-> Death Watch Raider’s description “ The Death Watch was a violent splinter group of mercenaries who disagreed with Mandalore Jaster Mereel's insistence on honorable behavior. “[EU set] confirms the modern times (pre-Clone Wars era). During that conflict, as far as sources showed, Mandalorians were presented solely as humans. Thus Mandalorian Quartermaster is most likely a human warrior. From modern times, this one character is presented with a traditional melee weapon (sword).
Set 5: Jango Fett and young Boba
-> No traditional weapon.
Set 6: Boba Fett from various miniatures sets.
-> No traditional weapon.
My observations so far:
-> Between the presented miniatures, the mythosaur ax was used only by Taung!Mandalorian, no human carried such a weapon regardless of era. There is a possibility that mythosaur axes were also a position/ability indicator, similar to Jaing eyes, maybe? Just a thought for further consideration.
-> Mandalorian Warrior, Blademaster and Marauder may be Taungs or may be human/aliens, impossible to confirm. However, Jedi Hunter’s card suggests a post-Mandalorian Wars timeline, and so chances for a Taung character are smaller. Due to Death Watch armor typical for Tor Vizsla & Jaster Mereel’s times, Quartermaster also seems to represent the era in which Taungs are extinct.
-> Miniatures presents Death Watch as a more traditional type of Mandalorians, as Jango and his side of modern Mandalorians (Boba, Republic Commando training sergeant [Kal Skirata] and Gunslinger [Rav Bralor]) uses solely advanced technology & firearms.

Hello again.
Here is the site:
A summary:
Moegirlpedia is a Chinese wiki founded on October 12, 2010. It also has an English and a Japanese version, both opened on January 2013. The main focus of Moegirlpedia is animation, comics, games, novels, and other types of media, along with the subcultures that originated from them.
Currently, the English version (and the Japanese one as well) are terribly short on content, so I am showing this site around to others so that they might be interested in contributing to it. I even wrote a whole guide to make the navigation on the wiki easier.
Here is a post I made on my blog about it.
oh thats so cool!! Amy is such an underrated character imo. She’s an absolute powerhouse despite not having any powers at all! she uses a weapon called the “piko piko hammer.” her strength doesn’t make her any less feminine, though! she loves fashion and tarot cards. she also loves sonic romantically, but its unrequited.
in canon, Amy is sometimes protrayed as an overly obsessive sonic fangirl. but its been shown that she is more than that. she’s cheerful, kind, loving, empathetic, optimistic, expressive and assertive. of course, not every character is free from flaws. she can be short-tempered and agressive at times. often resorts to threats when she or her friends are at a risk of being hurt.
also heres a list of her english voice actors! (mainline games and series only)
Jennifer Doulliard (sonic adventure series, sonic heroes)
Lisa Ortiz (shadow the hedgehog, sonic riders, sonic and the secret rings, sonic unleashed, sonic and the black knight, sonic x)
Cindy Robinson (sonic colors, sonic generations, sonic lost world, sonic boom, sonic forces)
Shannon Chan Kent (sonic prime)
i guess thats it for my contribution but there is WAYY more information about her that i can’t really summarize here! i highly suggest doing more research and watch some video essays about her and her character! shes a little different each time across all the games so its pretty important to learn more about
i wish you luck on the wiki! keep up the good work cause fandomwiki DESPERATELY needs to be replaced. (ps. very sorry for the capitalization and punctutation in this. i kinda rushed it hehe)

As a comic book fan since the 1970's I loved much of the MCU, more so the early MCU because they gave the back story of the characters. Maybe more importantly we were given an emotional attachment and investment into the characters. The Thanos snap was so impactful because we were emotionally invested. Ironman, Captain America, The Guardians all had very full back stories, wins and failures we were invested in, hell even the Red Skull had a back story that was interesting'ish'. But Marvel got money hungry, they wanted to jam as many second and third tier characters into the movies and shows as possible to maybe fill out later with little to no real back story or a back story so different from the source material that they are really a different characters all together, yes I'm talking to you Adam Warlock. The MCU loves to completely murder then "rebuild" characters, Moon Knight and Captain Marvel are two such examples. Both characters I loved in the Comics. Their back story is lacking so our investment into them is equally lacking. As a fan I would love to see some of those lower tier toons get some screen time and a flushed out story, toons like: Beta Ray Bill, Always one of the coolest pop in and out characters in the Comics and has made a back handed appearance in the MCU.
Nova (Frankie Raye, not to becomefused with NOVA Richard Rider/Sam Alexander), the former herald of Galactus would make a much better strong female characters an a female Silver Surfer from Juno's 4 page appearance in the comics from an alternate reality (Earth-829) in 2010. I loved her in the Silver Surfer comics. I drew this sometime in the 1990's.
Since I'm talking about Heralds Morg, Firelord, and Terrax the Tamer would make great villain's. I might even add Stardust to that list since The Eternals are already established in the MCU. It would also open the door for a Bata Ray Bill entry, just saying. Because The Quantum Bands are no in the MCU thanks to The Marvels, we could, and hopefully will see the introduction of Quasar, I liked him and is one of the 1990's Avengers to not get screen time as of yet. Alpha Flight, would make a great long term project with all the connective tissue already existing in the MCU and the addition of the X-Men would be such a nice fit. Of course my altime favorite comic book hero with a great back story...
Norrin Radd's story deserved to be told in a proper format not that crap F4 movie. (Also my drawing form the 1990's.)

Eras of a Franchise:
1991 - 1999: The Classic Era - Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, Sonic Spinball, Sonic Chaos, SegaSonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Triple Trouble, Knuckles’ Chaotix, Sonic the Fighters, Sonic Drift 1&2, Sonic R, Sonic Blast and Sonic 3D Blast all were released in this era, which then concluded with the simultaneous end of the old style, Sonic Pocket Adventure, and the start of the new style, Sonic Adventure.
2000 - 2009: The Dark Era - Mainline games of this era are Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Sonic Unleashed, and the Wii “Storybook” titles Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. It’s known as the Dark Era for both the relative darkness of the games’ storylines and the increasingly declining critical reception to said games and the franchise on the whole. The side games included the Sonic Advance trilogy, Sonic Battle, Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure, Sonic Chronicles, Sonic Riders, Sonic Rivals 1&2, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, and of course the unlikely crossover with Nintendo, the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games sub-series.
2010 - 2019: The Meta Era - Mainline games of this era are Sonic Colors on the Wii and DS, Sonic Generations, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric and Sonic Forces. While everyone loved Generations, Colors was loved by critics but divisive among fans especially in regards to the new, lighter and more humorous style of writing established in it, and the other games were flat-out negatively received by critics and fans alike. The side games included the ill-conceived Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Sonic Free Riders, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, Sonic Dash 1&2, Team Sonic Racing, Sonic Runners which was later reworked into Sonic Runners Adventure, and of course Sonic Mania, later upgraded into Sonic Mania Plus, which was considered by many to be the greatest Sonic game ever made.
2020 - present: The Renewal Era - Following the unexpected success of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie and its sequel, we got Sonic Origins which remasters Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, followed by the first mainline game of the era: Sonic Frontiers, which returns the series’ storytelling to the Dark Era’s more serious sensibilities. For better or worse, it will be the template going forward.
