How Much Does 24/7 In-Home Care Cost Per Month

How Much Does 24/7 In-Home Care Cost Per Month
Finding the right care for a loved one is a deeply personal decision, and one of the most pressing concerns for families considering in-home care is the cost, especially for round-the-clock services. 24/7 care ensures continuous support and monitoring, making it essential for those with chronic health issues or advanced age-related conditions. This article explores the typical costs associated with 24/7 in-home care, particularly in regions like San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma County, and explains how Kizuna, a platform that connects families with caregivers, offers unique benefits to help families manage these costs effectively.
Understanding 24/7 In-Home Care
24/7 in-home care involves having a caregiver or a team of caregivers available around the clock. This type of care is often necessary for individuals who require assistance with daily living activities, medication management, or specialized medical attention due to conditions like dementia or post-surgery recovery. Caregivers usually work in shifts, ensuring that the individual always has someone by their side. Unlike nursing homes, this arrangement allows for personalized care within the comfort of the individual’s home, preserving their independence and familiarity with their surroundings.
These kinds of caregivers are also called PCAs — Personal care assistants.
Tumblr media
How Much Does 24/7 In-Home Care Cost Per Month and Factors Affecting the Cost
The cost of 24/7 in-home care can vary widely based on several factors. On average, families in the U.S. can expect to pay anywhere between $10,000 and $20,000 per month for this level of care. However, in regions like San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma County, where the cost of living is higher, these figures may increase. Families in these areas could see monthly costs exceeding $20,000 depending on the care required.
Here are some key factors that impact the pricing:
Location
Geography plays a major role in pricing. In high-cost areas like San Francisco and surrounding counties, 24/7 in-home care is often more expensive due to higher wages and living expenses. For example, in San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma County, it’s not uncommon to see higher rates than in more rural or less densely populated areas.
Level of Care Needed
The complexity of the care required also significantly affects pricing. Basic assistance, such as help with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and companionship, is generally less expensive than medical care, such as managing severe dementia or providing post-operative care. Specialized medical support usually requires certified caregivers or nursing professionals, which can increase the overall cost.

FAQs
How does 24/7 care differ from part-time care in Marin and Sonoma counties?
Part-time care typically involves caregivers assisting for a few hours per day or week, helping with specific tasks like meal prep or companionship. In contrast, 24/7 care in Marin and Sonoma counties ensures that a caregiver is available at all times, day and night, to manage complex needs, provide medical assistance, or respond to emergencies.
Is it better to hire caregivers through an agency or independently?
Hiring caregivers through an agency often provides added benefits like background checks and insurance coverage, but it can be more expensive. Independent caregivers might offer more affordable rates, but you may need to handle more responsibilities, such as payroll and insurance.
With Kizuna, families get the best of both worlds. Kizuna provides the security and peace of mind that comes from thoroughly vetted caregivers, including background checks and verified credentials, without the high fees often associated with traditional agencies. Plus, you can review caregiver profiles and pricing transparently, allowing you to make an informed decision that fits your needs and budget.
Can Kizuna caregivers provide specialized care, like dementia support, in San Francisco?
Yes, Kizuna offers caregivers with specialized skills, including dementia support, post-surgery recovery assistance, and more. In areas like San Francisco, where the demand for specialized in-home care is high, families can find caregivers experienced in handling complex medical conditions through the Kizuna platform.

thinkin about the kizuna man…… anyone notice how in her profile pre-timeskip vs present day, her dislikes have changed from “the unemployed” to “being a burden”. and it’s pretty clear that she learned the whole “if you don’t work hard and have a job you’re a leech on society” attitude from her dad, but do you think he started to regret teaching her to think that way, just a bit, when she became disabled? she may have a job and an education, but she still can’t do the same things other people can, still needs more help, more time to recover…
is anyone else insane over tjis

How shall I post my current project?
I am currently translating the book "Owaranai Kizuna" by Inoue "kuma" Hideki. The first part can be found here.
Not counting fore- and afterwords, the book has five main parts, which are all divided into several short short sub-chapters. The first part, for example, has six of those. Their length varies, but can in general be compared to the length of bit already posted.
Would you like me to post each of the main parts in one longer entry, meaning very long waits while I work on them, or would you prefer if I made individual posts for all sub-chapters, which means faster updates but a lot less content at once?

Fashionably late, but here's The Boy Story and Links under Read More
Apologies for our tardiness, we got caught up in Kalim's massive birthday celebration (like always) and had to take a couple days to regain our composure, at least enough to write. This year, he wanted to make his party open to the public outside of Night Raven in order to turn it into a charity event, for both the College and for certain countries in need of assistance. He's so kind! (ignore the giant crow that reacted from hearing that).
We would like to show support to the following countries: Congo, Palestine, Puerto Rico, Sudan, West Papua, Yemen, Haiti, Hawaii, Armenia, Lebanon, Tigray and Uyghur.
If you know about any store from any of these countries or whose proceeds go to support them, please let us know so we can promote them!

Key PCA Duties for In-Home Elderly Care
As our population ages and more individuals require assistance with daily living activities, the role of a Personal Care Aide (PCA) has become increasingly vital. PCAs are trained professionals who provide essential support to elderly individuals and those with disabilities, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life. In this article, we will explore the comprehensive duties and responsibilities of a PCA, shedding light on the crucial role they play in the care and well-being of their clients.
What are the duties of a PCA?
One of the primary responsibilities of a PCA is to assist clients with personal care tasks. This includes:
Bathing and Grooming: Many clients require help with bathing, shaving, and grooming, and PCAs ensure that their clients maintain personal hygiene, which is vital for both physical and emotional well-being.
Dressing: PCAs assist clients in choosing appropriate clothing and help them get dressed, promoting their dignity and self-esteem.
Toileting: Assistance with toileting is often a sensitive task that PCAs handle with professionalism and discretion, ensuring clients feel comfortable and respected.
Mobility Support: PCAs play a critical role in helping clients move around their homes and communities. This includes:
Transferring: Helping clients transfer from bed to a wheelchair or from a chair to standing is crucial for those with mobility challenges.
Walking Assistance: For clients who can walk but may need support, PCAs provide guidance and assistance to prevent falls and injuries.
Tumblr media
Meal Preparation and Nutritional Support: PCA Duties
A PCA’s responsibilities often extend to meal preparation, as many clients require assistance with cooking nutritious meals. This includes:
Meal Planning: PCAs may work with clients or family members to plan meals that meet dietary restrictions and preferences.
Cooking and Serving: Preparing meals and ensuring clients eat properly is crucial, especially for those with specific dietary needs.
Tumblr media
Medication Management: PCA Duties
Managing medications is a critical aspect of many PCA roles. Responsibilities include:
Medication Reminders: PCAs remind clients when to take their medications, helping to prevent missed doses.
Monitoring Side Effects: They observe clients for any adverse reactions to medications and report these to healthcare professionals as needed.
Organization: Some PCAs assist in organizing medication schedules and pillboxes, ensuring clients have easy access to their prescribed medications.
Companionship and Emotional Support: PCA Duties
Beyond physical assistance, PCAs provide essential emotional and social support to their clients. This includes:
Companionship: Spending quality time with clients can combat feelings of loneliness and isolation, contributing to their overall mental health.
Listening and Communication: PCAs serve as a sounding board for clients, offering support and encouragement while fostering a sense of trust.
Encouraging Engagement: They may help clients engage in hobbies, social activities, and community events, promoting an active lifestyle.
Light Housekeeping Duties: While PCAs are not housekeepers, they often perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for their clients. Responsibilities may include:
Cleaning: Performing basic cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and tidying up, ensures that the living space is safe and comfortable.
Laundry: Assisting with laundry tasks, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothes, helps maintain the client’s personal space.
Organizing: PCAs may help organize personal belongings, making it easier for clients to find what they need.
Communication with Healthcare Professionals
PCAs act as a bridge between clients and healthcare providers, facilitating effective communication. This includes:
Reporting Changes: They observe and report any changes in the client’s physical or mental health to family members or healthcare professionals.
Attending Appointments: Some PCAs accompany clients to medical appointments, ensuring they understand instructions and recommendations from doctors.
Tumblr media
Promoting Independence: PCA Duties
One of the overarching responsibilities of a PCA is to promote independence and dignity in their clients. This includes:
Encouraging Self-Care: PCAs support clients in performing as many tasks as possible independently, fostering a sense of accomplishment.
Respecting Preferences: Recognizing and respecting clients’ preferences and choices in daily activities reinforces their autonomy.
Creating a Safe Environment: Ensuring that the home environment is safe and accessible reduces the risk of accidents, allowing clients to navigate their space more freely.
Training and Continuing Education: To effectively fulfil their roles, PCAs often engage in ongoing training and education. This includes:
Tumblr media
The role of a Personal Care Aide is multifaceted, encompassing a wide range of duties and responsibilities that significantly impact the lives of clients. From providing personal care and mobility support to offering companionship and communication with healthcare professionals, PCAs are essential in promoting independence and improving the quality of life for those they serve.
As the demand for personalized care continues to grow, understanding the vital contributions of PCAs will help ensure that these professionals are recognized and valued in their critical roles. Their commitment to fostering dignity, independence, and well-being for their clients is what truly defines the essence of personal care assistance.

still makes me crazy months after playing about aitsf's insane familial relationships. date who took mizuki in and raised her as his own where renju and shoko couldn't. mizuki who still loves shoko and renju dearly, but they can't provide what she needs. but she's able to find that parental love in date. hitomi who raises manaka's daughter like her own, and who means so so much to her she can't bear the thought of losing her. she'll go to great lengths to stop that from happening. mayumi who just wants the best for her son no matter how hard it is. ota who loves his mom so so much but doesn't really realize how much effort she puts in for him until her dementia's getting worse. saito who lacked the proper support system and any love or care from so sejima at all. ryuki who still can't get over his twin brother's death, like he lost his other half. komeji who's falling on hard times as a comedian but really just wants the best for his family and allows himself to get into dangerous situations for shoma's sake. shoma who, really deep down loves his dad, despite everything, but can't express that until it's too late in the true ending. bibi who cares so much about mizuki and is deeply protective of her even when mizuki's too young to really know it. kizuna who only really knew bibi for a few years as her foster sister but that time meant so much to her. shizue who took bibi in and just kinda lets her do her own thing, once she's grown. jin who was born out of an affair, and adopted by a different family, but his birth parents still going to great extremes to get rid of the tumors on his body. uru who was abandoned and kidnapped and used as a glorified organ donor, imprisoned and secluded away from the outside world, but longed for maternal love from tokiko, and resented jin for receiving the love he didn't get. tokiko who taught uru the teachings of naix out of pity. amame who's been forced to choose, forced to deal with the terrible hand she's dealt, wishing that if things had gone differently maybe her father would still be alive.

Your recent update made me wonder about something. I don’t know how much you know about this but wanted to try asking anyway. Hopefully this makes sense? Why would the English translation choose to censor things? I assume translations are being done in America where queer things are slowly becoming more accepted but is that a factor? Are the translators themselves changing certain things due to their own biases? I don’t know who they are and don’t want to assume anything about them, but I can’t help wondering if that’s part of the reason? Or is it because of something like, for example, sometimes movies or TV shows have certain content removed based on where it’s being aired, so is it something like that? Is the game being released in regions where queer content is banned or removed? Now that I wrote it, I feel like this is the most likely answer but what do you think? I basically just rambled in your ask my bad. Also, do you know if the Korean and/or Taiwan servers have censorship too?
oh there's more than just the Asahi thing and i have mentioned it in passing before but i'll cover it properly here. "the miles i fell in love with is so cool" -> "it was so cool! i guess that's miles for you" is definitely the biggest example though.
First off, a minor thing. it doesn't really happen anymore but in the earlier translations they quite often use words other than partner, like "pals" and "buds", in the VBS story. Probably one of the best examples of this would be An and Kohane's 3rd kizuna title, which the JP name was often fan-translated as "Making each other better" or "Raising each other up", and is called "Two supportive pals" on EN. Which does have the same meaning but the "pals" seems so unneccesary when they could've used partners. The original text is Takameau futari, the first part means "to raise" or "to lift" and futari means "two people" or "a pair/couple". So it technically is a good enough translation but using pals when partners would be more accurate to canon just seems.. off.
I’m assuming their avoidance of the word partner is because it could easily be misinterpreted as romantic, but they seem to have moved on from that at this point.
Tumblr media
There's also THE POWER OF UNITY where they switch out "love" (daisuki) for "cares about a lot" when KAITO is comparing the relationship between Arata and Souma to Akito and Toya. Daisuki literally means "likes a lot" so often you'll see people translate it as love, though likes a lot is still valid. "Cares about" is not a direct translation but definitely can still convey the same meaning, so again instance of valid localisation it just seems like an odd choice when using love would've conveyed the exact same meaning and been more true to the original.
Tumblr media
Then you've got another instance of them not translating daisuki correctly in Dear Me, As I Was Back Then (sorry this one is a wiki screenshot my phone died). This is worse. Like I guess if you really want then it does have a close enough meaning to the original. Like I guess daisuki meaning "like a lot" or "love" could be localised as "you're the best" if you really wanted it too. But even then, the line before this is "I'm gonna show just how much I admire her!". Minori's shout of "I LOVE YOUUU" from the original would be way more fitting here. "You're the best" feels too casual and buddy-buddy - even if Minori didn't know Haruka at this point, Haruka still had a big impact on her life and imo "I love you" would be the best to use here.
Tumblr media
There’s also this one from Walk on and on that removes one key thing. In the original, Toya says something more along the lines of “I was able to make this track because I want to continue to be a partner who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you from now on and always”. This is a bit more similar to the Asahi incident in that they’ve restructured the sentence to make it two, adding in the thing about performing which isn’t even there originally, and replacing “korekara saki mo zutto” with “keep singing with you”. And “keep singing with you” still works, but it’s much more toned down, let’s say. You know what really is odd about this translation though? If the quote I put seems familiar, it’s because it’s also the name of Toya’s event card. Kinda odd they omitted that from the story then, huh? The thing is the translation of the card is very accurate so removing it from the story starts to seem intentional, especially when everything around it is accurately translated like with the Asahi incident. Also doing this removes the fact that the card name references the story so what the hell are you doing EN? It's the same sentence, if you can translate it correctly on the card you can translate it correctly in the story.
There's definitely more than this, this is just what came to mind first and I don't want to make this post too long.
These were certainly... choices. Especially with the ones that avoid translating daisuki as love because they do translate as that on other occasions, most frequently with An and Kohane. I'm assuming the reason they omitted it with the guys is because it's far harder to pass off guys saying that they love each other as platonic because societal expectations or whatever, but I'm actually surprised by the change to Dear Me because normally they're pretty good with Minori and Haruka usually. Like they've translated daisuki correctly for them before and leave in everything else that indicates Minori has a crush on Haruka, so why not this line?
I'm tempted to say that they just change the things that they think are too hard to safely pass off as platonic, but then again they left all of the unsubtle ship teasing in Buddy Funny Spend Time, which has a lot of focus on Minori and Haruka's relationship (and they even added in Haruka saying that Minori makes her heart tickle in her card story), so I'm genuinely not sure why they left that in but then changed one instance of Minori saying she loves Haruka which doesn't even have to be interpreted romantically. Like what is the limit here? An can say she's going on a date (with Kohane) and the WEG regulars can ask who she's been seeing, but Asahi can say he fell in love with Tsukasa's character and it gets removed. Both of them have romantic connotation. The only thing I can think of is that An's comes from a whole card story and event, but Asahi's is one line that's easy to remove. Same with Toya saying he wants to stay with Akito forever.
In other words, it's a mess and I don't think any of what I just wrote is coherent either.
Interpret all of this however you will at the end of the day it’s all just ship tease which is up to interpretation anyway. Except the Asahi thing. That one is a censor.
Oh and the KR and TW servers don’t do this.

Hi! I saw your ask as open and I wanted to request something for the Self aware Project Sekai AU you made :)
May I request how the Vocaloids react to the player? Like, how would they become self aware? We’re they self aware to begin with? Thank you :)
Tumblr media
How vocaloids react to player ✨️
(Sorry everyone for being gone for so long, I was just emotionally exhausted and had a few angsty teen thoughts)
Platonic/Romantic - tbh idk? Depends on how u take it :^
Let's start off with the fact, that they all know know that they're not exactly their original counterparts
Yes, they are vocaloids, but..different? They're in game, nothing new for Miku- but it seems like it's their first time being alive. They know it's their voice, their songs but it just..feels weird?
- though this mostly applies to Miku, as she's the first one to greet us and has her..original form?
She knows it's her, but different her.
- I wanna say that I see all sekai vocaloids as different people, BECAUSE during April fools, THEY MET EACH OTHER and uhm- I'd recommend watching that video to understand what happened. They kinda became friends, and 25ji Rin liked wxs Kaito's (or what Kaito that was?) head pats. She was waiting for her Kaito to arrive.
SO that means they are ALL different.
Now, that we finally sorted out what was important, we can finally make some content
Hatsune Miku(s)!
Tumblr media
The Miku that greets us:
She knows she is Miku, but she doesn't have knowledge of stuff outside the game. She is a sekai keeper, and keeps hopes and dreams of every vocaloid producer. But...She is unsure if this true. Some stuff happened before she even existed! (Games existence)
So she knows she isn't exactly the first Miku. But Miku anyways.
She was staying there all alone, for so long.. (game downloading)
Yes, she loved watching over sekais, but..it's not like she has anyone..
So when she first meets you! She is so excited to make a friend! She says you're a sekai watcher like her, because you two "sang" (aka you playing tutorial)
Whether you played bad or good didn't matter. She liked it.
She didn't wanna lose you, but it's not like you're leaving her. Your presence is always near her when you play and read stories/events.
She doesn't see you often, unless you're pulling for characters or there's an event/sth she needs to explain to you.
She's such a little tease, not giving you card you want if she knows you have more pulls. Don't worry, she will give you it, but just pull one/few more times please.. she doesn't want to be alone anymore.
First though when she met you: I am not alone anymore?
Sekai Mikus
As long as you won't harm others she's fine!
She is very cautious when it comes to [band's name]. They're her 1st priority.
At first she thought you are just there to watch over them, but she noticed you actually help them improve (I hc that by playing their songs, decorating sekai, grooving their cards and kizuna level you can make them better and improve them)
Aww, thank you so much! You are a great help!
.
.
.
.
.
Overtime all vocaloids became kinda obsessive over you? They want you to play their band's songs and care mostly, if not ONLY about them and their band! Yes, they're grateful you helped them improve, but they will bring you into their world, and you will make it real. Not just a game, but a R E A L, LIVING WOLRD. NO NPCS, NO GAME CODE
Until then, everyone is just a piece of cra- I mean, code. Your word also seems so dangerous... that's why they need to protect you from world's harm!
Tumblr media
Not gonna lie, EVERY other vocaloid acts this way, so I'll end it here, sorry ^^; (Maybe I will make a part 2?)
But trust me, beware of Niigo and MMJ the most.... both, vocaloids and group
Tumblr media
^ them when u interact with other groups
(Also beware of Tenmas, and Shinonomes. You can kinda trust Hinomoris)

Hello again! Dunno when you’ll be back online, but when you do return, could you tell me of any potential DRA ships you have? Additionally, do you plan to make them canon or ship-tease them in your pony AU?
Hello again! :D
I hope you're ready for an info dump because I have a lot of thoughts about class 79!
Ships... the age old question...
I'm honestly not the kind of person who gets heavily invested into a lot of ships. That being said, I do enjoy them a lot, especially when it involves a cast I am as attached to as class 79! And one of those handful of ships I am highly invested in is a DRA ship, lol. (It's Kinjomae... and to be honest, a really big part of my DRA special interest is filled by those two characters, and Utsuro, in general if not together)
Kinjo and Yuki tend to end up being with central roles in most of my DRA related thoughts, art, and writing, it just kind of sneaks in, regardless, somewhere.
I like interpreting them in a queer platonic or more ace-leaning relationship as well. Not always, but I've made a habit of it. So yeah they're going to have a relationship of some sort in this au too.
To specify, I am referring to DRA1 Yuki; I don't really ship the real Yuki and Tsurugi together. To me, they are two very distinct characters with different personalities from each other despite their similarities, not just memories... I won't get into all that (a post for another day perhaps) but in context of Kinjomae, only one of them is his Yuki, who knows and cares for him.
Exploring the relationship between Tsurugi and (actual) Yuki Maeda is still super interesting though, and I can understand why people ship it, there's loads of interesting places to go with it.
Also, I'm the kind of fan who can be swayed to accept almost any pairing or headcanon, especially in the context of the respective work (art/writing, etc) I really think it's possible to execute pretty much anything in a convincing manner if done well, and that applies to ships and stuff. Are there some ships and/or headcanons that give me the ick? Yup. Are there some I just don't like? Yeah. It just takes a lot for me to really get to a level where I hate something.
Uh, let's see... there are a few other ships I tend to immediately think of, even if I'm not as invested!
Ayame/Akane (may or may not be teased or explored in the pony au)
Satsuki/Haru (they'll probably be canon, I mean... it's satsuki and haru)
Rei/Teruya (I love their dynamic, regardless of the type of relationship they have)
Utsuro/Akane (they are super fascinating and it would feel remiss not to include this one in some manner)
I'm not sure yet what I'll do in this AU with everyone, we'll see. Including friend groups: I want to make more 'mane 6' type groups from the rest of the cast but I haven't finalized any of them besides the main one yet.
That's one of the things that makes me love class 79 so much; they feel very real to me, individually and how they all interact with each other. I'm invested in them as a group, and in all the little friendships and groups within the class. So I might spend more time thinking about them in terms of friendships and other relationships than pairings, except for Kinjo and Yuki of course.
My favorites of those are:
☀︎ haru, satsuki, and teruya
tsurugi, yamato, and mikako
teruya, tsurugi, and rei
best siblings yamato and mikako
the if only group: teruya, tsurugi, rei, yuki, akane, yamato, and mikako. (who also happen be most of the mane 6 for my pony au, and are my favorite characters along with Utsuro, pretty much.)
I love this cast a lot if you couldn't tell by now.
My least favorites are Mitch and Kizuna, though. I don't dislike them, but Kizuna in particular I am really neutral toward compared to everyone else.
I feel like I just... don't have a grasp on what kind of character she is at all? Her story in the game combined with her FTEs left me pretty conflicted about her. It feels like there were many opportunities to give more insight into her, but none of them worked for me.
I mean, we get to meet her mom, and even that didn't give me any more insight into her childhood or personality at all... which is kind of hard to ignore when the time we spend (or being told about via FTES) with Ando, Keisuke, Ryutaro, and Midori all give their respective family members more context and anchors we didn't have before. Plus the tiniest whiff of Juu we get speaks volumes for Tsurugi's upbringing, it is very easy to fill in the blanks.
As much as it is a tradition to hate on Mitch, I don't really hate him as a character: he works perfectly well for the kind of role he's meant to fill, (I mean, he's designed to be a case 1 killer first and foremost) and personally, I find it a lot easier to add layers to him than Kizuna because he has a base I can wrap my head around, unlike Kizuna, even if it is a really simple one.
Anyways...
As a bonus, here are some of my favorite rarepairs:
mitch/uehara
teruya/uehara
teruya/haru
almost any rei pairings (I usually pass on the very gloomy and incoming divorce vibes of tsurugi/rei though) maybe partially because I (personally) have difficulties seeing Tsurugi being in relationships with women. Sorry, but I can't undo it. He's just gay in my eyes. And/or ace and homoromantic.
I think that's the end of my thoughts for now. Thanks for prompting another ramble I appreciate it.
