with all of the excitement regarding a paper kingdom track (witch) being leaked in full i want us to remember that this album was scrapped for a reason.

the early 2010's were a very dark time for all of the members but as far as im aware namely mikey and gerard. as gerard is typically the one writing the music its important to keep in mind that the reason this album was scrapped was because the concept was weighing on gerards already... turbulent mental health. on top of the eating disorder and relapse the paper kingdom was a concept album about parents grieving their late children. some of them were fathers at that point.

it's perfectly okay to be interested in the paper kingdom as it is an interesting topic and concept for an album (and to want mcr5 as long as you don't get rude about it), but keep in mind why this album was scrapped

RIP Frank Strom. Not only did he give us Monkey Khan, The Iron Queen and King, and many more from the Dragon Kingdom, but he created the groundwork for the expansion of lore and world building of the regions outside those our main characters primarily reside in. Even with only the small handful of issues he wrote for, he helped shape the identity of what Archie Sonic was. The series wouldn't be the same without you Frank, so thank you for everything.

like creative differences, not enjoying what they were writing, and mental health

But one of the other factors that really caught my attention was how dark The Paper Kingdom was gonna be. I forgot where I heard it, but somewhere Gerard said that the album was taking such a dark turn that it was messing with his mental health.

I am so curious on how fucking dark those songs were getting to where they needed to stop
