I love the angst of asura just hating kid on principle but…

Au where upon meeting kid for the first time, asura just goes full big brother mode. Like he can’t explain it but nothing bad can happen to this child and if anyone tries to hurt him asura will personally end their entire existence.

And kid is equally as effected. He knows he should be scared of asura, but he’s just… not. He wants more than anything to help this person who is so clearly hurting.

They eventually work things out on their own, and upon realizing why they feel the way they do, actively try to connect as brothers.

Medusa and Arachne are still stirring up shit and everything is in total chaos. But there’s an actual slow burn redemption arc and familial bonding bc fuck you let them be happy.

🔳​Gosh, he is absolutely dying on the inside every single time your fans just swarm around you like bees around flowers. On the one hand Asura absolutely understands why you are so popular and beloved as he is in some way also a part of your fanclub but it is just so frustrating that he so rarely gets his chance to truly be left alone with you. There is a ton of competition as lots of people would love to be your significant other and he's not going to lie, his throat sometimes tightens when he sees all the gifts, the confessions and the affection you receive from others. He's always been labeled as the weak offspring who fails in comparison to his talented brother Indra and it is this gap in strength that will sometimes mess with him if this should be before he went on his father's quest in order for Hagoromo to figure out who the next head of the village should be. There are lots of other talented, kind and beautiful people in his village and Asura is humble enough to admit so himself. On the other hand it is also a sure way to motivate him to vie with your admirers for your adoration as he starts training harder, picks flowers for you on fields and tries to cook for you though he ends up burning a lot by accident.

🔳​His jealousy remains even once he finds himself in a relationship with you though he feels more secure by that point as he trusts his darling. If he's at that point already head of the village most people are probably going to respectfully step back though you probably still receive a lot of gifts and love letters. He takes it very well though, often likes to joke that you're probably more beloved than he is which he honestly wouldn't even mind since you are nothing short of amazing in his eyes. However, he doesn't like if someone ends up confessing to you and asking you to be their lover right in front of him. It's awkward and uncomfortable and only leaves him with the option to clear his throat as he tries to be mature only to very quickly end up arguing with the other person in a way very much reminiscent of a child with the way he pouts and whines. After such an encounter he always grows clingier and more affectionate, deeply upset that someone was bold enough to confess to you whilst fully knowing that you are already with him. Your popularity truly is a two-sided sword yet Asura refuses to revert back to being the same pathetic stalker he was in the past now that you're actually together with him-

Otsutsuki Indra

💜​Indra takes a very different approach than his brother as his patience is very thin and his possessive feelings for you very high. Once he has developed feelings for you he grows very quickly rather possessive over you and all of it is only sped up due to the adoration and love you're frequently showered with due to all of your silly admirers. This entire commotion is a waste of time in Indra's eyes as those people behave as if they were a sorry excuse of a circus trying to entertain you and gain your attention. On every single occasion Indra has made short work of them, always interfering their pathetic attempts to woo you and scaring them away with a scorching glare and equally searing threats before turning his wrath to you with a deep scowl on his face. Why would you even entertain such good-for-nothings? If any of them ever even dare to ask you to train with them he quickly shows them just how unfit they are to even consider such an outrageous thought, his opponents always left bloody by the end of it. At one point he starts claiming your entire time for himself, keeping you by his side and isolating you from others to calm his own burning possessive feelings down.

💜​After Hagoromo doesn't acknowledge him though that previous arrogance he always had turns into an inferno of paranoia and jealousy he did not possess before. Indra projects his hurt on you as he starts believing that you would abandon and leave him as well and it is that thought that drives him to abduct you. It is likely that he might also murder some of your most persistent admirers who've always gotten on his nerves the most, people who he actually somewhat acknowledged and for that now views as the biggest threats who may steal you from him. It is after the abduction that Indra at the very least finds some semblance of peace again as he knows that there are no fans anymore who could get on his nerves and it eases his possessive urges somewhat. Yet his ego has been forever damaged which leads to you having to be very delicate as Indra needs a long time to get over the shock of being betrayed by his father and his brother. Every time you defy him as well he lashes out, spits angry accusations that you probably miss being swooned over and being spoiled by those weaklings in the village. Too unfortunate for you though because he'll never let you go back.

Uchiha Izuna

🔹​For Izuna it will depend on whether your admirers are also Uchiha or not as he is someone who only believes in the good of his own clan which means that he would be much harsher and scarier with your fans if they should not belong to his clan. There will be only disrespect and intimidation as he would never allow his darling to choose anyone but him, especially if your other choice should be someone who is not an Uchiha. After all the young man is deep down quite a prideful warrior though he can be very charming and sweet around you as well. If your fans were to be Uchiha, Izuna is inclined to be more merciful though he still expects them to know their place, especially since he's the younger brother of Madara and one of the strongest fighters. Now, obviously the Uchiha feel quite intense which is why your admirers might be more persistent if they were to be of the same clan as he is, leading to potentially more conflict though Madara is going to fully support his younger brother once he's aware of Izuna's feelings. Sometimes there is a sense of satisfaction though knowing that you're so desired which would make it all the more satisfying once he claims you.

🔹​Once you are officially Izuna's darling he is going to be less tolerant of your admirers antics. Any gifts you receive he expects you to reject on the spot or throw away later. None of them are going to be kept and if you try to still keep them he is going to burn them before turning to you with a disappointed glare on his face. He's the only one whose gifts you are allowed to keep. One's ego can never be boosted enough though so it happens that Izuna takes you with him on a stroll through the streets simply to bask in the jealousy of the other people who can only silently murmur and glare at him with envy as his arm is wrapped around your waist. It is this jealousy that results in that smug look on his face, knowing that he managed to court you and make you his though you had so many other admirers. It's not always fun though, especially if someone still believes to have any chances with you even though you now belong to Izuna. In such cases you always know better, quickly stepping away from them to not displease Izuna all whilst said man is already busily glowering at them, irritated that they still don't understand. Perhaps they need a reminder of why he is the only choice for you.

Temari

🌪️���Temari is very much a no nonsense person so she is going to be irritated with your little fanclub long before she is even in a relationship with you. Temari isn't a very jealous person as she is a confident lady but it is very agitating to see the shinobi of her village courting you instead of training to get stronger. She wants the best of her village as she is aware that Sukunagakura didn't always have the best reputation amongst other villages and she is very determined to change that. So it isn't even jealousy but disappointment and frustrating anger that the shinobi who swore to protect the village now have nothing better to do than trailing behind you, swooning over you like fools and spending their money on presents instead of training to sharpen their skills. Worst of all is that you suffer from their infatuations as well, always stopped from training properly which is the point where Temari storms in like a hurricane and scolds all of them harshly for behaving in such an unsightly way. Her irritation even reaches you as she reprimands you for being too polite to your fans all the time instead of making your disinterest very clear as you instead gave them always hope.

🌪️​It is in an actual relationship that she gets more possessive. It's basic etiquette to respect it if someone is already in a relationship with another and it is then that she truly figures out who the true idiots are, too desperate to give up on you. She expects you to inform you as soon as anyone of them even dares to suggest that you could still choose them and leave her. She doesn't let Kankuro or Gaara help her, firm in her decision to deal with this problem herself as she is the one in a relationship with you and it is her job to protect you. She is more than capable of doing that in this situation. There is no kindness your admirers still going after you can expect from Temari either, her entire face an angry mask and her words brash and abrasive. Are they not ashamed of themselves? There is no respect given to those people, their display of desperation nothing short of pathetic and unfitting for the shinobi of the village. On some days she is in such little mood to deal with your fans that she asks of you to stay at home for the day. She is going to make sure that all of them learn their lession though. They can admire you but they cannot try to be your lover.

Hyuga Neji

🕊️​You absolutely deserve to be loved and cherished yet it isn't even the fact that you have fans but more the unsavory way that some of them behave that enrages Neji so much. They're loud, they scream your name and ignore your discomfort as they are pushy. Such people he finds himself actively despising the most and especially when he notices that you're uncomfortable does he get protective and scare them away with a stern glare and a few simple threats. Most of the time Neji is not jealous though as he would never view people with no behavior as rivals as they are nothing more than inconveniences he wishes to remove from your life. He doesn't mind those who show their admiration in more respectable ways by gifting you stuff though he observes such actions very closely as he makes shameless use of his Byakugan in such situations. His confidence remains largely intact though, secure in his knowledge that he is still going to love you better and treat you like you deserve to be treated. He prefers to do so in the Hyuga compound though where people who aren't part of the clan aren't allowed in unless with permission, giving him the chance to focus only on you and vice versa.

🕊️​The possessive urge to let your fans know that you are his sometimes gets the better of Neji even though he deems himself about such urges. Yet it can't be helped when he watches as they still try to capture your attention before he steps gracefully in, his hands holding yours as he presses a kiss against your forehead before white eyes glance at your fans with the silent but clear warning that you are his and that they should know their place. With his Byakugan he is able to easily avoid them as he guides you throuh Konoha and away from your fans yet he finds himself worried about the persistence some of them show which is why he starts keeping you more and more to himself in the Hyuga compound where their presence can't vex him as much as it would have outside of the district. It's in here that he truly feel like the two of you are finally in your own world where he can focus fully on you and you can do the same. It's not like Neji believes your fans to ever harm you but he fears that they might find you when he isn't there and make you uncomfortable without him being able to help you. It's this smothering worry that leads you to be isolated even though Neji only wants to do the best for you.

Death the Kid Analysis Extended

This is a rewriting of an old post. This info. is mostly referenced from the manga because most of his information and development is only in the 2nd half of the manga, so I am going to give an extensive list of info. of him so that those who don't want to read the manga, or wants info. without going back, or just forgot can come here and look at it.

Now, for Kid's Info.:

Since he is a shinigami he is obsessed with perfection and balance. It is mentioned here and there throughout the whole manga and in official bios. on the gangan website that he is persnickety, pathologically neurotic, and abnormally obsessed with "symmetry" however, in vol.14 ch53, he dismisses Liz comment on his hair when his first lines of sanzu connects, stating that he'd usually obsess about it but won't. It is never mentioned he has OCD.

No one wanted to approach Kid because of who he was, and Kid was ostracized from other students, but it was Black star, Soul, then Maka who approached him and he became more open. It made him impressed and happy when Black star wanted to surpass him. (v19 ch77)

Kid bleeds, and it is red in both the manga and anime. The blood stays on the ground, and it shows slight whispyness in the manga once it regenerates, which is the same whisp strings you see when you see him manifest his skateboard from his hands.

Kid could not regenerate without the Brew tool. In ch. 53 Liz asks Free to save Kid because he'll die, and Kid was not regenerating until the brew took effect on him and gave him his first connected lines of sanzu (middle line), whilst also amplifying his soul wavelength. (Soul Wavelength should not be confused with his actual soul. The brew was making the Soul swell too though)

Kid has his own unique battle stances.

His father does not bleed when injured, and his father is seen only drinking tea a few times, but Kid eats, drinks, bleeds, shows emotions, feels pain, ages, and likes to be upkept.

Kid was created & raised from a child to learn and understand fear.

Kid's wavelength?/soul gets huge like his fathers when he connects all the lines of sanzu, and also appears similar to his.

Kid's soul color is red

Kid is 158cm tall and 13 years old in the start of SE Not!

Kid faints from high anxiety

Kid can't get intoxicated, get poisoned, or dye his hair.

Kid and Asura look humanoid, and lord death is said to have a face too under the mask in ch.70 & ep.39 (kid and asura are brothers)

Kid reacts to naked women twice along with Soul and Black star by Blair (op1 and ep. 12), and then once in the beginning in the pharaoh scene but is unaffected by Kaguya and the girls in the shower scene in the manga?* *there's a bump on his head after being pulled out, but in the next page he has a nosebleed dripping all the way down to his chin, not sure if that's from the smack he got or something else, but there's no lump with that nosebleed like in the previous panel but there is a punch mark

Based on Kids ID (in the anime), he was born between 1987 to 2086 since the issue date is xx/13/20XX (M/D/Y)

Excalibur says only 1 shinigami can exist at a time, however, I do not know Asura's situation and how he is still alive after Kid becomes complete, or why there's 3 shinigamis at the same time.

Kid sometimes curses.

Kid cares about his friends and is shown to protect Liz and Patty twice in the manga (1 to prevent them from going into the book of Eibon, and 2 telling Patty not to transform when he gets his arm cut)

Kid loves to read books. He shows up at the library a couple times, in ep. 15 he is reading a book, in the aftershow op/ed he is seen reading and holding a book, and in the mobile/website card game, he is seen holding one in his lap.

Kid can play basketball

Kid writes and draws with his right hand

Kid is very thin but flexible and agile. He restrains himself in battles at times

Kid gets taller in the manga during and after the grigori arc

Lastly Some bonus guesstimations...

Kid supposedly wears glasses in the manga (v1 ch3) and in an official mobile/online game's artwork he is shown wearing it. He also wears it in a mini comic booklet, but that isn't counted because it's like a "backstage" bonus.

Kid likely has "junk" parts. He mentions forgetting to fold the toilet paper, has a toilet in his mansion, and in the Fire Force mobile game he insinuates he has one.

Kid was likely not born as an infant. In the end of Fire force manga, and v19 ch77, it shows Kid at his youngest, maybe around 4 or 5 years old, and where lord death explains life and death like it's his first time explaining to him. You can also see an aura around Kid which might be an appearance effect and only shows in the Fire Force manga. We'll find out in the Fire Force season 3 anime whether it's true or not. Young Kid and Lord Death seem to be in the Death room, which might mean the DWMA was already constructed when this occurred. Also to make this claim more plausible, Asura was created in adulthood, so Lord death can choose any age he wants created from himself.

Will Nezha and his brothers get a proper face to face reunion? Or is that a little off the table with their dad situation?(Sorry if you answered this already.)

In the TMKATI au? Not for a long time (prev post about the bros in the au here & here)

Part of the issue is that Nezha's older brothers had been teenagers when he was born, and honestly had a really hard time bonding with him when they were all mortal. Having a younger brother that's a snake-like demon-creature cus your mom was secretly a celestial princess makes things complicated.

And the fact Li Jing was openly disgusted by Nezha to the point of destroying his own son's temple/death shrine out of bitterness.

The next time either Jinzha or Muzha is said to have encountered their brother is when their father Li Jing was running for his mortal life from his resurrected son - now in a fiery god/asura-like form wreathed in lotuses. Li Jing demands that Muzha protect him as he flees, and after a tense battle; Nezha kills Muzha with a golden brick. Muzha shows up again later less than pleased, but is overall chill with it. Though considering that Li Jing literally sacrificed his middle son to save his own skin, it's no wonder why Muzha peaced out of the Celestial Realm afterwards to become Guanyin's disciple Moksa/Hui An on earth.

Jinzha was already working for the Buddha by this point, so he was a little out of the loop considering that the whole Investiture Crisis was going on.

Edit: Jinzha is instructed to flog Nezha by his master Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun when the deity stopped Nezha from killing Lu Jing + stopped Li Jing from self-deleting. No wonder none of these bros talk.

In the modern day the three barely consider each other brothers. The eldest two have all but officially denounced Li Jing as their father, and the only reason Nezha hasn't is cus Li Jing keeps him on a tight leash with the Pagoda + emotional abuse.

The healthiest thing that happens to Nezha in the last couple hundred years (at least in the TMKATI au) is him being "punished" by being sent down to the mortal realm in his true form. And of course since this ask came about pre-S5, Li Jing does seem like that sort of incompetent/petty as to kick his own kid out of Heaven for an argument gone sour.

Even if the three brothers reunite and bond over their shared terrible dad, it's a long road to go.

It's here, I got like three chapters up

I'm writing a kid and asura brothers fic with a touch of kishin!vajra, and giving everyone daddy issues as i go bout it. would anyone be willing to beta read it for me?

Gray-haired, all of five feet tall, and in her mid-50s, Rhea Ingull isn't what most people expect of an Ebon Vanguard warrior, especially in plainclothes and with her scars covered by a mesmer illusion. It's an open secret that she's the bastard daughter of the head of House Ingull, one of Ebonhawke's most influential noble families, who left home and joined the Vanguard when the birth of her legitimate half-brother meant she'd never see a scrap of inheritance. In her youth she was a metaphorical as well as literal firebrand, who won renown by killing the old Ash Legion imperator in a gambit so risky it could accurately be called a suicide mission. She lost an eye and gained a streak of white hair thanks to Malice Swordshadow, a tribune at the time, but came out alive and with the new nickname of the Badger thanks to her stocky build and sheer determination. It's the Old Badger now, much to her chagrin, and her reputation has shifted to that of a brutally intelligent and ruthless tactician. She likely saved Ebonhawke multiple times in the decade of so before the peace treaty, simply by out-thinking Bangar's brutal offensives and being willing to do whatever was needed for the sake of her city. After losing her lower right leg, she has officially retired, but that hasn't stopped Commander Samuelsson from bringing her in for "unofficial counseling," and Ebonhawke understands that should the city be under siege again, she'll be there drafting the war plans.

This decorated and brutal military history is balanced by a shockingly maternal outside life. Unable or unwilling to have biological children, Rhea has instead adopted a veritable menagerie of kids - a norn she found on the streets, Loretta, a runaway sylvari daughter, and an abandoned asura son. She loves all her children dearly and raised them kindly, even if they did learn basic combat techniques alongside their ABCs. Most strangers who meet her outside of the military think of her as a kind old lady - those in the know see her as the embodiment of the warrior-poet: speaking several languages, possessed of a great knowledge of literature and music thanks to her noble upbringing, and sometimes a little too wrapped up in the philosophy around war and death. She keeps herself sharp and presentable at all times, and whether it's navigating high society as a captain or cursing out new recruits as a drill sergeant, she always carries herself with intention. She was married once, before her husband succumbed to alcoholism, and now she lives with her younger children and the one living member of her old squad, Captain Phillips. History will remember the two of them as brothers in arms, or very good friends.

Rhea also had one other adopted child a long time ago, Laurel, who went missing in action and is now presumed dead. Whether her first daughter's death was her own fault depends on how you see it, and maybe more importantly, who you ask.

The sun had dipped lower by the time they made their way down the slope, quiet steps over soft earth.

The storm of earlier still hovered behind Asura’s ribs, but beside him, Kumo walked—less like a ghost now, more like a man coming back to himself.

His wide straw hat was pushed slightly back, revealing a little more of his face.

His eyes were sharp, still scanning the treeline, but no longer with suspicion—more like someone searching for something he'd lost long ago.

Then:

—So… she married him?

Asura glanced sideways, lips tugging into a grin. —Oh, she did. Took her long enough, but yes.—

Kumo snorted, shaking his head.

—That uptight training-obsessed lunatic? The one who never looked at anything but the sky and his sword?

—That very one, but hey, that's my brother you're talking about.— Asura chuckled. —He looks at her now like she’s the only thing he’s ever seen. Makes the rest of us nauseous, honestly.—

Kumo barked a laugh—genuine, though still tinged with disbelief.

He ran a hand through his face, eyes flickering with something that looked dangerously close to emotion.

—And she’s… happy?

Asura nodded. —Yeah. She’s… stronger now. Softer in some ways. Fierce in others. You’d be proud of her.—

Kumo was quiet for a moment, calculating the next inquiry.

—Do I have any nieces? nephews?

Asura couldn’t help the grin that bloomed across his face.

—Four little monsters.

Kumo’s head snapped toward him.

—Four?!

—Raizen’s the eldest. Too mature for his own good. Quiet. Looks just like Indra but got all of Ivy’s sense.

Kumo’s brows rose.

—He got sense? From Ivy?

Asura laughed.

—Then there’s the twins—Hikari and Inari. Absolute chaos incarnate. They drive Indra mad. Ivy too, though she pretends they don’t.—

Kumo grinned to himself, eyes softening.

—Twins...? Ah... Life is one hell of a thing, huh? I guess she somehow gained back what she lost...- he mumbled mostly for himself, bittersweet, thinking. -...And the fourth?—

Asura’s voice gentled.

—Ame. She’s five. Bright-eyed. Curious. She looks like Ivy did as a child.

Kumo stopped walking.

Just for a heartbeat.

Then he looked up at the canopy, breathing in the sky like he didn’t quite know how to hold everything in his chest.

—Ame,—he repeated, like tasting the name. —A girl. Ivy always wanted a little girl. She used to say she’d name her “rain”.—

—She did.

They kept walking again, silence stretching, but no longer uncomfortable.

It was the silence of catching up, of grieving in reverse.

Eventually, Kumo murmured:

—She never stopped looking for me, did she?

—No, never.

And for the first time, Kumo looked ahead—not at the trees, not at the path, but at something beyond it.

Home.

They neared the edge of the woods, where the trees thinned and dusk slipped softly through the branches.

The inn was still a ways ahead, tucked between hills like a forgotten secret, but neither of them hurried.

Kumo walked slower now, thoughtful.

His voice came low, with the kind of gentleness that only came after years of silence.

—So... tell me the truth.

Asura raised an eyebrow, glancing sideways.

—Is he sane? Like… mentally sound? Stable enough to be married to my sister? Because... no offense, but from what I’ve seen and heard, he’s not exactly famous for emotional balance.—

Asura laughed despite himself.

—Define ‘sane’.

Kumo shot him a look.

—Just answer my question.

Asura sighed, lifting both hands in mock surrender. —Okay, okay. He’s… not easy. He was worse before. Quiet, cold, merciless. All edge, no softness. The kind of man who would rather walk into a thousand enemies alone than ask for help.—

—Sounds like the boy she used to talk about,— Kumo muttered, eyes narrowing slightly. —That kid from the forest. Always alone, always training. You know... she used to come home and say,— he dropped his voice into a higher pitch, mocking his sister’s childhood tone— ‘I’m gonna marry him someday.’-

Kumo chuckled softly, then sighed.

—I thought it was a phase. I thought she’d grow out of it.

Asura smiled, softer this time.

—She didn’t.

Kumo tilted his head back, letting the forest canopy sway above him—She always saw something in him. It scared me, how much faith she had in that kid.—

—She saved him,— Asura said quietly. —That’s the truth of it. Not with swords. Not with power. She found him when he was just a boy, trying to disappear into something darker than himself. She never let go.—

Kumo stayed silent, his steps slow.

—Indra was scared, not used to feel, to be human anymore. He wanted Ivy since the beginning, yet he was terrified of hurting her, of being what people said he was. She didn’t care. She stood in front of him and told him she remembered who he was.—

A pause.

Asura turned, walking backwards for a moment to look at Kumo directly.

—She reminded him that he was human. That he could still choose something different. She made him laugh again. Made him come home.

Kumo blinked, something raw crossing his expression. —I don’t know whether to be relieved or terrified.—

Asura smirked.

—Welcome to the club.

They walked a few more steps before Kumo exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck.

—I’ve never seen my brother kneel for anyone the way he does for her. Not out of duty, not out of fear. Just love.— Asura admited.

Kumo’s voice was soft, barely above the wind:

—...She really married him.

—She really did.

And as the light from the inn began to peek through the trees, Kumo’s steps quickened—less a warrior’s pace, more a brother’s urgency.

Years had been lost.

But some things, like family, could still be found.

The inn stood quiet, a crooked thing nestled between stone and pine. Smoke curled from the chimney in slow spirals, scenting the air with something warm and unfamiliar—cooked rice, maybe. Or chestnuts.

The sound of cicadas buzzed low in the fading light.

They found him behind the inn.

Indra was sitting on a wide, flat stone near the edge of the slope, one knee drawn up, the other leg stretched long toward the grass. His elbows rested against his thigh, hands loosely clasped.

No weapon in sight.

His long hair was caught in the breeze, his face tipped upward to the sky as if he were listening to something far beyond reach.

Not a flicker of tension in his body.

Asura stopped a few paces away and motioned with a quiet nod to Kumo.

—Go on.

Kumo hesitated.

Then stepped forward.

He didn’t say anything at first—just stood in front of him, studying the man his sister had never stopped waiting for.

The man who had once been a boy in the forest, full of silence and fury.

Who had become a tyrant, but also, somehow, her husband.

—So,— Kumo finally said, voice light, dry— you're the infamous Indra.—

Indra blinked once, slowly, and shifted his gaze toward him.

—I am.

—You don’t look as terrifying when you’re sitting down.

A pause.

Then, to Asura’s surprise, Indra offered the faintest curve of a smirk.

—Most monsters don’t.

Kumo didn’t laugh.

Not quite.

But he did drop the sharp edge of his tone.

—You’ve got a reputation,— he said, stepping closer. —Blood. War. Power. People talk about you like you're a god, or a curse. Or both. So tell me...—

He met Indra's eyes.

—Who exactly did my sister marry?—

Indra’s smirk faded.

He looked at Kumo fully now, all calmness and certainty, like a man who had already answered that question a hundred times in silence.

—The same boy she once found in the forest.- Just the simple truth.

—Hn... And you have children.— Kumo’s voice had softened now, something like awe threading into it.

—We do. Raizen, the eldest. The twins—Inari and Hikari. And Ame. She’s the youngest. Smart. Curious. Stubborn.—

—Like Ivy,— Kumo murmured.

—Exactly like her.

A quiet pause followed.

The sky above was deepening, turning indigo at the edges.

Kumo exhaled, eyes still fixed on the horizon, then finally lowered himself beside Indra—not too close.

Just enough for the silence to feel shared.

—I was scared,— Kumo confessed, voice low. —That if she was alive… she’d been swallowed by your world. That she was just another casualty of your darkness.—

Indra’s gaze went back to the trees, but something behind his eyes shifted.

Not defensiveness.

Not anger.

Just something old, and heavy, and known.

—She wasn’t.

Kumo waited, and Indra took his time.

—The world I built doesn't touch them,— he said at last. —Not if I can help it. Raizen walks too close to the edge sometimes, but he’s still young. The twins are chaos—relentless, bright. And Ame... she drags stars into rooms without meaning to.—

Another pause, softer this time.

—They argue. They shout. They fight over burnt rice and broken toys. They think I don’t hear them laughing when they’re supposed to be asleep. But they’re alive. They're loud. They belong to her more than to me.—

Kumo glanced at him, startled by the honesty folded into such simple words.

Indra’s jaw tightened slightly before he added:

—She is the only softness that ever stayed. The only voice that didn't ask me to change in order to be worth saving.

He finally turned his head, meeting Kumo's eyes.

—If she ever steps into the abyss... I will follow. That much, I promise.

Kumo swallowed hard, his throat dry with silence.

—I guess you do love her,— he said quietly.

Indra didn’t answer.

He didn’t need to.

—Then maybe she was right all along.

—About what?— Indra asked.

Kumo smiled, faint and crooked.

—That she was gonna marry you someday.

This time, Indra didn’t smirk.

But the silence that followed held something warmer.

And when Asura finally walked toward them and sat at their side, he said nothing—because there was nothing left to say.

Only the quiet comfort of a reunion long overdue, and the peace of a promise kept.

Relationships

Lord Reaper He was Nero's first friend before meeting Paloveus. Back then, Nero was very weak and skinny (even as a god), and for him, Lord Reaper was his greatest idol. But their relationship went to hell when Nero fell into madness. I'll give more details later…

Paloveus Nero met him thanks to Lord Reaper, who introduced them—his biggest mistake. Paloveus planted many ideas in Nero’s head, leading him further into madness…

Lord Death & Dynastes The brothers don’t know anything about Nero. They once heard his name mentioned in a book, but he burned it. Their father scolded them severely, but they didn’t understand why.

Asura He does know Nero—thanks to his descent into madness, Asura was the first one to see him. Well… let’s just say this Nero is completely insane, doing horrible things to people who fall into madness.

Death the Kid He doesn’t know Nero at all. Nothing, absolutely nothing… at least not yet.

Other Notes NERO knows nothing about his past or his creator. He simply exists to bring chaos, destroy peace and order—especially to Lord Reaper. He eventually realized what he had done and committed betrayal… It hurt him, and well… that’s a spoiler.

Thoughts on CROMA and why it is an objectively better ship then SOMA even though Soul is a good charachter still?

Ah, trying to objectivly break down ships huh? Thats always fun... and likely to piss people off. Sure, why not?

The problem with Soul X Maka as a pairing, is very much the same as the problem with all the rest of the meister x weapon combinationa from the 3 main cast combination.

All 3, Maka x Soul, Kid x liz/patty and Black Star x Tsubaki.

All of these have a strong foundation... But don't really use that foundation as the basis for their developments as the series progresses.

Black Star and Tsubaki have an excelent character outing when they go to confront her brother, but not really much afterwards.

However, while Black Star and Tsubaki's dynamic is all about the fact that they fit together surpeisingly well despite their flaws and quirks, Maka and Soul are the exact opposite.

Despite having worked together long enough to be at the cusp of turning Soul Eater into a deathscythe, the two of them have an absolutely miserable dynamic, fueled almost entierly by Maka's shortcomings at the start of the series.

This is not a bad thing at all mind you, as character flaws and overcoming them are the aoul of any well written arc, and for obvious reasons, you can get a very good romance out of two people helping the other grow.

That is literarily what makes Crona and Maka such a good dynamic in how their relationahip fuels both plot and character development by just being near each other.

However that's not quite the way Soul and Maka is handled.

Because the point that is emphazied at the start of the series is that Soul is much more along the path of his own development than Maka is.

Maka is fueled by all of her worst insecurities, her flaws and shortcomings, and so she fails utterly against Blair, Stein and Crona, losing all of her 3 first fights.

Her relationahip with her father is a total mess, while she lives in denial about her mom abandoning her, and she is alwqys stupidly quick to fly off the handle regarding soul because she is terrified he will leave her.

Soul by contrast is has his shit together much moreso, keeping a cool head, and using Maka's own shortcomings and Blair's unfamiliarity with both of them for a tactic to beat her where all of Maka's efforts failed.

He kept his head cool against Stein and convinced Maka to keep going even after seeing the old Meister's sheer power firsthand, and was more than ready to take Death blows for Maka against both Stein and Crona, withouth hesitation.

There is a reason why Maka despite her arguments and bickering with Soul respects him so much.

However, here is the problem when discussing the two of them as a potential couple.

Soul brings out Maka's better aspects by acting as a stabilizing influence after all of her issues are forced to the surface. She becomes braver and more capable, and trusts soul more and more as the story goes on... But fundamentally, Soul does not change Maka.

Crona does.

Whereas Soul serves as a stabilizing influence on Maka in her weaker moments, Crona makes Maka change on a fundamental level, by bringing forth all the aspects of herself that she has chosen to bury.

Crona brings out the kindness, the compassion, the ability to immediatly trust and love others withouth reservation that Maka lost before the series began during her family life breaking apart.

Crona makes Maka change to the person she wants to be, their relationship serving as the catalyst for her development into the young woman who did what Shinigami could not, and defeated Kishin Asura.

And of course Maka and Crona's relationahip had it's own drama as well, with her love for Crona putting her directly and personally at odds with Medusa, an enemy she disliked, but would go on to thouroughly despise and hate on a deep peraonal level due to how she treated Crona.

Of course, both manga and Anime goes different directions, but both are still the best character bits of their respective shows, with the sandpit scene, where Maka discovers she was betrayed, and feels the sting of just how much it hurts to be backstabbed by someone you love... While also finding it in herself to forgice Crona and help the friend she loves past this lowest moment.

It is here where she surpasses her parents, and in the long run, Asura.

Meanwhile, in the Manga Crona becomes THE motivation and cause of Maka's life, and in the end, it is this relationahip that the climax was actually about. It was the most important dricing force that kept the rather disjointed and not well put together final arc, a coherent story around these two people who love each other... And it's the Manga's failure to bring this relationahip to a satisfactory ending, along with Asura not being defeated, that destroyed it as a story.

To bring it back around to the actual question, it is very telling, that in her final scene in the manga, where Soul makes it very clear that he is interested in her, she sorta turn downs his obvious flirting, to instead focus her feelings and dreams back towards Crona, because her love for Crona has not changed after the final battle. It is still the single most important thing in the world for her.

Well, i'm re-reading Soul Eater (bc turns out it isn't as long as i remembered) and seeing these

it gave me very much Mihawk's vibes, like i think "I don't care that I was born special, I'll do it my own way" is something Mihawk would definitely do/say

And this got me thinking, what if in this au Mihawk had such influence in DTK that he idolizes his Aniue and wants to do better because Mihawk can't no longer be their Father's heir?

i know that technically DTK's OCD comes from Lord Death being the embodiment of Law and Order or whatever (and apparently he did mitosis or smthn to have Kid idk) but it would like cement it even more and it matches too with DTK's goal of defeating Asura

(ngl all of this i had to search up bc if i'm going to write an AU of my old hyperfixiation and my current hyperfixiation, i'm going to do it right)

So, yeah, somehow i made something tragic even more tragic and Mihawk's backstory in the au changed slightly in consequence but that you all will have to see when i post the actual fic. Just know that one of my friends over in twitter basically said "That's so sick and twisted" jsjsjs

Don't worry tho, i'm not going to be completely mean and Mihawk and Shanks will have their reunion and be happy after everything (...they are just going to suffer a bit till that happens)

Folks, he’s back. For the 2023 spooky season I decided to pull out my personal favorite villain of all time again. Asura my beloved! Every time I think about this anime I rediscover exactly how deranged it was.

Like, for example at least in the anime, was it ever explained to Death the Kid that he was helping body his brother? Or like, y’know the bag that Asura was kept in. Wild. Also Crona. Their entire thing with Medusa is off the rails.

Asura is a wild character anyway. I’ll reiterate what I’ve said before, Lord Death, you made a kid outta your anxiety and then DIDNT expect him to get hella paranoid? Thats some A+ level parenting right there.
