Harry Belafonte (Carmen Jones, Island in the Sun)—one of my favorite things in the world when I'm sad is kicking back and listening to him and Danny Kaye singing "Hava Nagila" together. Or who can forget this man singing the Banana Boat song with the Muppets?? immensely talented, a powerful fighter for civil rights and humanitarian causes his whole life, if you have any remaining doubts PLEASE look at the following pics [clips and pics attached below]

Buster Keaton (The General, The Navigator, Sherlock Jr.)—For me Buster’s hotness comes not just from his physical beauty but in the constant surprise and contradictions of the man, he’s simultaneously delicate/rough, feminine/masculine, confident/vulnerable, 5foot5 pretty face with an unexpectedly deep voice, at first glance you think oh he’s a cute little thing and then he takes his top off and it’s Superman abs underneath. He was intensely shy in social situations but had no hesitation in jumping off the top of a building. He famously never smiled on screen* but he exudes warmth and joy and laughter. He created some of the most beautiful, intelligent movies ever made but refused to acknowledge his own genius and talent as an artist, instead maintaining that all he wanted to do was make people laugh. If he was here in reality competing in this poll he would give it 100% but he would not be at all bothered if he didn’t win. And that’s why he’s the hottest vintage man. A vote for Buster is a vote for all that is good and decent in the world 💕 (*he did smile on camera occasionally despite his own assertions to the contrary 😄)

Judy and Keaton held their wedding in the backyard of their new home. With Keaton's head doctor's salary, they were able to purchase the house not too long after their engagement had been announced.

Of course, the entire family was invited. All living parents and siblings with most of their own children and partners were there. Judy's parents were there, as well as her brother Niall with Emma and their three old enough children. Since she was still quite close with her friends from nursing school, Judy had invited them, too, and they were glad to use the chance to catch up with each other.

On Keaton's side, just his mother was there, with his father having passed away years before. She was accompanied by Keaton's brother Herman with his wife Camilla and their own two children.

It was a lovely day for a wedding, too. The rain clouds from the early morning hours had passed, and the sun had come out to shine on the scene, as Judy and Keaton exchanged their vows and rings. Seeing his sister this happy even made Niall shed a tear, not being able to help his sensitive side. Only the children were left a little bored with having to sit still for a while, but at least the ceremony was not too long for anything other than long faces to occur, and all in all, they still enjoyed the day, just like everybody else did.

Alice Pearce (On the Town)— She is timid she is bold she is thirsty she is awkward she is me she is you she is everything. She is Alice Pearce and she was playing Lucy Schmeeler onstage in the Broadway hit ON THE TOWN, and Gene Kelly saw it and immediately knew two things: (1) he wanted to do a movie version and (B) only if Alice Pearce reprised her original role. And both things happened, hallelujah, so now we can enjoy forever her making an allergy-ridden mess of a blind date with Gene Kelly in the most relatable way possible, and if it doesn't scream SCRUNGLE in fifty-foot neon-lit all caps with a brass band fanfare and a side of fireworks, then I'm the New York subway system. *sneezes and laughs maniacally, somehow breaking a table in the process*

Buster Keaton (Sherlock Jr., One Week)—Grandfather of slapstick and did a lot of great stunts for comedy including the first having a set piece down with him standing in the doorway still referenced today, riding a cow catcher on a locomotive, and falling from a third story building through two awnings grabbing a rain gutter falling forward and then going through a window.

Many scrungly little guys look as if they're falling down a staircase. Buster Keaton actually IS falling down a staircase, every day of his life. Also, truly committing to the "little" part at around 5 foot 5. This competition will be the revenge of the short kings or I will die trying.

First, he kind of looks like a Dollar Store Charlie Chaplin. Just absolutely busted Chaplin. Second, he's lanky and awkward and he's like if Doug Jones had been plopped into the silent movie era. He looks like a cartoon come to life. He looks like if you gave a chihuahua a human body and slightly less anxiety. And because it's silent films for the most part, it really does look like a cartoon character irl.
