For a piece of media that hasn't come out with new content in a long ass time, I'm constantly flabbergasted by the things I learn being in the newsies fandom

pianist davey jacobs haunting my brain. he’s got long fingers and pale skin and creeping veins and freckles and he plays so beautifully, like that man’s music is an extension of himself and it charms fucking everyoneeee that listens to it! his elegant posture and the way he works the music through his fingers? impossibly pretty.

they didn’t have a piano in the apartment so he learned through long hours sitting at the synagogue and using theirs. he knows chopin and rachmaninov but he can play a mean ragtime when the boys at the lodging house want to dance and he falls in love with tin pan alley and jazz once they come around

such an elegant fuckin instrument for an elegant boy and Jack or Kath or whomever could just sit and listen and watch for hours. how could you not fall in love with him once he’s got his sleeves rolled up and he’s smiling as he plays his favorite pieces? or when he’s tipsy and fucking up every other measure while he plays ragtime but god if it isn’t attractive how he’s keeping it together? the piano belongs to goddamn davey jacobs and even if it’s unrealistic I ain’t budging

Jack pushes himself up off of her, sitting up and letting his shoulders sag. "It just– it feels like I don’t do enough, ‘nd one day you’re gonna wake up, and just… not want this anymore. I can’t give you a better home, I can’t buy you better gifts, I can’t do any of that stuff, and there’s fuckin’ people out there that’ll give you hell for it.”

“So what?” Katherine asks. “Let them talk. I don’t care about what they say, Jack. Not when I know I have you.” She sits up as well, placing a warm hand on his shoulder and squeezing, feeling the taut muscle underneath dark skin. “I promise, Jack. I don’t care.”

“I do,” he whispers, letting out another deep sigh. Katherine opens her arms, and Jack tries to fight it- gnaws on his bottom lip, flexes his hands against his thighs- but he soon falls back into her arms, resting his forehead against her shoulder. “I care, Kath. I don't want to, but I have to. I have to care."
