The Dangers in My Heart
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
The Dangers in My Heart (Season 1, 2023, Japan)
Director: Hiroaki Akagi
Writer: Jukki Hanada (based on the manga by Norio Sakurai)
Mini-review:
I didn't even know this anime existed until a few days ago, so imagine my surprise when I started watching and realized it might just be one of the best of the season. I'm sure some people will be put off by the initial premise, but luckily, the synopsis is nothing but a façade that's quickly deconstructed. Once that's done, we're left with one of the sweetest romcoms I've seen. It's also one of the awkwardest ones, and I mean that in the best of ways. The romance is a classic slowburn, and it's bolstered by some flawless character development. In fact, I was surprised by how good the overall writing is. The show just understands what being a teenager is like. For example, the comedy is built from the perfect mixture of awkwardness, silliness and horniness. I swear I heard some of the same jokes in my classroom when I was the same age as these characters. I imagine some people will dislike the level of horniness the humor reaches at some points, but I think it's incredibly realistic, so it didn't bother me at all. Anyway, I'm glad they already announced a second season, cause those final moments left me feeling all warm inside and I need more of these characters.

New Yuri Mystery Game from 'Flowers' Writer Releases in Japan this Month
Tumblr media
El Dia announced a new Yuri mystery adventure visual novel Kanda Alice mo Suiri Suru which will be released for Nintendo Switch in late April. The game's scenario is written by Hatsumi Shimizu, who also wrote the Flowers series, The Curse of Kudan, and contributed to Yumeutsutsu Re:Master.
Tumblr media
The game follows the title character Alice Kanda, who is anxious about entering her first year at Miyukinomori Girls' High School. To make matters worse, her best friend, Akira Hodaka, has to leave her spot on the archery club after being accused of wrecking the club's chances at a championship cup.
Tumblr media
Together the girls seek out a rumored fortune-teller in the tea ceremony club at the back of the school grounds they heard about from one of their classmates. Upon arriving, the two meet an astoundingly beautiful and otherwordly woman with long black hair, Houju Sawaragi. She asks, "What can you not bear to have taken from you?"
This twilight encounter restarts a heart that had once come to a halt.
Tumblr media
Kanda Alice mo Suiri Suru is described by the developer as a short adventure and will sell for 1,500 Yen ($14 US). It features artwork by Akinashi Yuu. The cast includes:
Kana Ichinose as Alice Kanda
Akari Kitou as Akira Hodaka
Yui Ishikawa as Sawaragi Houju
Akira Sekine as Kasuga Eri
Hiyori Kouno as Yurika Kino
Rika Abe as Aoi Miyahara
Honoka Inoue as Kanan Tsurumi
Yuuna Kamakura as Asuka Tsutsumori
There are currently no announced plans for an English adaptation of the visual novel.

You seem to read alot of manga. Do you have any recommendations for the hiatus?
Sorry for not answering this question sooner anon! My inbox got kind of unwieldy and I’m only just now beginning to tackle it.
I have A TON of manga recs, but for the purposes of this ask I’m going to list a few lesser known titles - ones that don’t have an anime but are completed.
I Am A Hero (Complete)
Tumblr media
The zombie apocalypse comes to Japan. Great on character interaction, the manga deals pretty realistically at how people would react during a zombie apocalpyse, and how the threat doesn’t necessarily come from zombies, but from other people. (Seinen, psychological, horror.)
Sekine-kun No Koi (Complete)
Tumblr media
A lonely businessman finds love. Again, this is another very character-driven manga, which I love. The protagonist is achingly lonely and shy and the misunderstandings that drive a wedge between him and his love interest are done very realistically. There’s no rom-com shenanigans, only the slow progression of two people coming together. (Josei, drama, romance)
Oyasumi Punpun (Complete)
Tumblr media
Domestic violence, murder, and suicide all play a role in Inio Asano’s masterpiece, which is ostensibly about a boy coming-of-age and the girl he loves, but is more about the fragile mental state of our protagonist as he grows into young adulthood. I marathoned the whole thing in one weekend and swore never to read it again, only to find myself returning to it because of how much it affected me. It’s disturbing but hopeful at the end, and it’s worth the read at least once. (Seinen, psychological)
A Girl on the Shore (Complete)
Tumblr media
Also by Inio Asano, A Girl on the Shore tells the story of a girl and a boy and their friends-with-benefits situation, and all the emotional landmines that come with it. The manga really mines all the ways people can hurt each other with just a few choice words, and how careless actions can leave a strong impact. It also shows how two people can be physically intimate but emotionally walled off. (Seinen, drama)
My Lovely Ghost Kana (Complete)
Tumblr media
One of my all-time favorites.A young man rents an apartment and finds it’s haunted by the ghost of a girl who committed suicide. He’s also in a bad way, but because of her company he feels less alone; they end up having sex, and slowly embark on a new relationship. Even though it is an ecchi manga, the way they depict sex is really tender and sweet. The characters genuinely love each other, and honestly it’s more slice of life with sex on the side. (Ecchi, seinen, romance)
Hope this helps, anon! :D

Birlik ver..
Selam olsun, Muhammed 's.a.v' ümmetinin gariblerine.. Selam olsun, zulmü taşlayan aşıkların yüreklerine...

Aoi Yuuki, Asami Shimoda, Marina Inoue, Megumi Han and Yukari Tamura are the only women I’ve found so far that play both male and female characters. 2. Listen to the differences between Taishi Murata’s characters. His range never ceases to amaze... the only English voice actors with similar ranges (that I know of) are Ben Diskin and Sean Chiplock. 3. On the female side, Umeka Shouji has a surprisingly large range. I’ve mostly heard her play deeper-voiced roles, and then Corona shows up... 4. I love Hiro Shimono’s evil laugh. He doesn’t go all out with Loki, but he sounds like an insane seagull when he does. 5. As a mythology fangirl, I’m a little annoyed by all the changes. Frey, Mani and Vali are supposed to be male; Skuld is supposed to be a Norn (with Verdandi and Urd); Hel, Fenrir and Jormungand are supposed to be Loki and Angrboda’s kids; Idun is supposed to be Bragi’s wife; Thrud is supposed to be Thor’s daughter and Magni and Modi his sons. I’ll update this “lore correction” once I find more characters.

The Dangers in My Heart (Season 2)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
The Dangers in My Heart (Season 2, 2024, Japan)
Director: Hiroaki Akagi
Writer: Jukki Hanada (based on the manga by Norio Sakurai)
Mini-review:
Now this is how you make a second season: it takes everything that made the first one so charming and then elevates it to the next level. Few shows capture the awkwardness and cringiness of being 13/14 like The Dangers in My Heart. The humor and the character writing are just so realistic, even if it gets a bit over-the-top at times (and that's part of its charm too!). This season also ramps up the angstiness, especially during the last few episodes, and it all leads up to a gorgeous finale. I know the manga is still ongoing, but if the anime ends here, at least it went out in style and cemented itself as one of the best anime romcoms of all time. Still, I really do hope we get more seasons.
