Scott Pilgrim x Naruto crossover au where Kakashi is Ramona Flowers and he still has 7 evil exes:
Obito (as Gideon, bc it's fun to think he would create an evil organization even here)
Zabuza
Rin (idk, as Roxie? I mean, Rin's the only woman on this list)
Izumo and Kotetsu (as the twins except they're not related but are actually a couple Kakashi has dated at the same time)
Yamato
Genma
Who which one everyone would be I don't know for sure, it has been quite a time since I watched the netflix series
"Who's Scott then?" Idk man, I'd say Gai but I don't think I want him taking Scott's place (although everyone here kinda sucks, so whatever)

Anko *raises her voice: So, Genma, you know anything about Kakashi's type?
Genma *sneaks a look at Iruka: Brown hair, dark eyes, tanned skin, kind, oblivious, good sense of humor, really cares about the kids.
Iruka: Wow, that sounds really specific. Do we know anyone like that?
Genma *looks to Anko : Did I mention oblivious?
Anko *sighs: Yup, you did.
Genma : Okay, just making sure.

How Kakashi, Genma, and iruka would react to reader staring at them while they're talkin
Summary: 's in the title, but anyway.
How they would react to reader staring at em with intently, like all the love in the world intently
Warnings: some suggestive stuff, mostly harmless though cus all fluff.
Kakashi hatake
Tumblr media
Halfway through his sentence he just sees reader staring at him with their hands propping up their head
Immediately shuts up and reader asks if sumn is wrong and when he continues talking he's stuttering n messing up all his words
Legit gets red as a tomato, not even his mask could hide it 😭
No one has ever looked at him with so much interest, compassion, and love in their eyes so he literally has a seizure I swear
If y'all were dating and you stared at him like that it's either straight to the bedroom or he's going to be a blushing, flustered mess (depends on where yall r like in public he's gonna be a red mess but inside his apartment YOU're going to be a mess if ykwim)
You would tease him endlessly for his reaction
If y'all weren't dating though that's when he catches feelings like who wouldn't 🤷
He looks so stoic n serious all the time but with just a smidge of PDA he's gonna malfunction
Genma shiranui
Tumblr media
He's too distracted with talking he doesn't notice it at first so you just kinda keep staring n humming as a response
When he DOES notice tho he's reduced to a stuttering mess (kinda like Kakashi) but he tries to remain confident n keep his cool, happy go lucky facade but he fails miserably as sighs in defeat.
Unlike Kakashi you can fully see the red, flustered mess your gaze has reduced him to.
Probably slams the table with the other hand covering his lower half of his pretty boy face n makes the excuse that he needs to go to the bathroom. Startling you and other people (if y'all are in public)
Low-key makes you think you did something wrong and immediately apologises to him when he gets back
He dismisses it though and says you did nun wrong but you still get worried nonetheless
When he notices his senbon probably falls outta his mouth cus he probably noticed it mid sentence with his mouth open n yeah
When y'all r dating he definitely teases you about how you're lookin at him, but his heart and mind are going bonkers rn
In public he tries his best to keep the 'kewl bad boy' facade but fails
In PRIVATE though, in private. Make out session. Nothing else no other words just, make out session. (With consent of course)
He thinks it's cute and adorable and he has ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM telling the entire world. Will cup your cheeks and smother you with compliments like "you're so cute I could just eat you up" (or out if you want idk)
Iruka umino
Tumblr media
Honestly Kakashi and Genma combined
Tried [keyword; TRIED] to seem cool about it but is definitely going to fail.
Would switch to a completely different and silly topic to see if your reaction changes but it doesn't, it only makes him more flustered that you don't even care about how silly the topic is you just care about him
If he's eating he'll definitely choke on his food from how lovingly you're staring
(prolly gets turned on)
If y'all are dating n sitting/standing next to him while you're staring would probably look away and fake cough tryna hide his face from you
Iruka is definitely a closet perv and you cannot convince me otherwise (not the peeking into women's stalls closet perv) only a perv fo you
At home you're not going to escape his hungry grasp ifyk
In public though he's prolly a blushing mess
Mans is just adorable idk what to tell you 🤷

*at the bar*
Genma: Okay, I’ll ask: what’s up with Gai tonight?
Kakashi: What do you mean?
Kurenai: He’s crying.
Asuma: He’s been crying for two hours.
Hayate: What did you do to him, anyway?
Kakashi: Nothing!  I just —
Gai, snot flying, through his tears: HE … KAKASHI SAID THAT I’M HIS HERO! *breaks into fresh sobs* I’m not worthy of such an honor!!
Kurenai, trying to soothe Gai: There there; you know it makes complete sense for him to say that, right?
Asuma: Exactly. You’ve built yourself up from nothing, and now you’re one of the strongest shinobi in Konoha.
Genma: I don’t think there’s a person alive that could stand against you, Gai. So you being Kakashi’s hero is perfectly normal, okay?
Hayate: Not to mention your kindness, your loyalty, and your dedication to your friends.
Kakashi, in his head: I just meant because he opened that jar for me earlier but …

Discombobulated
Discombobulated
(adj.) emotionally confused or uncertain
……………………….…………………………………………………
The mission wasn't supposed to go this way. It was a B-ranked mission that took the two teams four days in the middle of the Earth country to complete, and they were just on their way home.
Kakashi should have foreseen this somehow, despite being just a Chunin with no Dōjutsu to see into the future. He still should have been prepared.
They all should have.
The enemy had strung on them when they were at their lowest, chakra exhausted from a previous battle.
Kakashi hadn't seen the man grab you, nor had he seen the blade covered in poison being stabbed into you, all he saw was the expression of pure terror Rin had on her face as she witnessed the scene.
He heard though, the screams of Kushina as she raced to you. The cried of Gai as Genma held him back from running after his sensei. Minatos calls to head to the cottage a mile back.
Now here he was, standing in the doorway of the Cottage as Rin and Kushina frantically tried to save you.
Obito, Genma, and Gai sat on the porch, eyes trained forward in horror. If you died… you'd be the first friend any of them had lost.
Kakashi, he didn't turn away. He watched as Rin, with tears streaming down her face, dug through all her medical bags searching for her antidotes.
He watched as Kushina grabbed a kunai to cut open your shirt and sports bra, and he watched as Minato held your hair back as you leaned over the shitty old kitchen table to throw up your own blood.
Your face, sweaty and flushed from the fever that was beginning to rise. Your pretty eyes that he had caught himself looking at were blinking tiredly. Your hair was wet, stuck to your face and knotted around your head.
Kakashi couldnt look away.
You were still pretty, he thought. Even if you looked like death.
Minato had to force him, pulling him away from the scene as Kushina pulled the fabric from your front, exposing the wound.
“You don't want to see this.”
Good Minato, who despite dealing with three kids in the middle of the war, still tried to keep them somewhat pure from the horrors of this world.
Kakashi, as soon as he turned away, knew you were going to die.
You had been insignificant to him for most of your lives, just another face in the classroom you two had shares.
You were nice, he knew that, but being nice got people killed and he was certain you'd die if you ever got into a battle. Back in the academy, you were quiet, nice, and friendly but insignificant to him.
You had changed since he had graduated before you, and left you to grow.
You turned into a fighter, not as good as Gai but you were above average. You fought with everything, all you had and it impressed Kakashi how much you grew.
Being Kushinas student must have done you some good, because you also held a fire similar to hers.
Maybe that’s why you had rushed to Genma, fighting the enemy that had knocked him out.
Maybe that’s why you had cut the man’s face, scarring him.
Maybe that’s why you were grab by your throat, held down and stabbed with the poison covered blade.
Maybe it was because now you were dying on a rotting table inside of an abandoned cottage in enemy woods.
Maybe it was because you were stupid, rushing to save your friend with no consideration for your life.
Maybe that's why he had grown to love you more than a teammate.
You used to be so insignificant in his life, but now you were everywhere.
*first post, might make this a series!*

Caught Looking
I'm thrilled to share my fic for @kumeramen's gorgeous, ultra-sweet prequel baseball artwork! I had a ton of fun putting a sporty 50s twist on this beautiful ship. Enjoy! 🧡⚾
Pairing: Shisui/Sakura
Rating: T
Summary:
“Go! GO! Shisui-senpai!” Turning toward the bleachers, Shisui spotted a petite girl in the front row waving her pom-poms a little too ardently, her long pink hair whipping through the air. The other cheerleaders had about half her intensity and vocal projection. It wasn’t unusual for the cheer squad to practice alongside the baseball team. Shisui just wasn’t used to having such an impassioned admirer—a strikingly pretty one, at that.

kakashi doesn’t understand how genma can be so smitten with one person, until he meets said person
a/n: hi friends ! thank you sm for this request <3 im thinking of making this into a series if you guys would like that ? let me know what you all think :]
wordcount: 2,946
masterlist
“-and they changed their hair today! usually they wear it in this one certain style but today they-” kakashi zoned out again, Genma’s all too familiar musings become more and more similar everyday.
“genma do you even talk to them? seems like you just stalk them from afar” the silver haired jonin replies, genma stares at him in shock.
“pft! of course i do!” his chest is puffed out and he’s looking to the side with an angry pout, “i tell them good morning and goodbye” he mutters, kakashi shakes his head.
“i don’t see how one person that you barely even talk to can be so captivating” he mumbles, rolling his eyes as genma gasps, as if you’d insulted his entire bloodline.
“how dare you hatake! y/n is the most amazing person in this village! maybe even the world!” he’s defending you as if you were already married and a life together.
“it’s a silly crush genma! talk about them when you actually make a move” kakashi scoffs, leaving genma alone in the street as he turns to make his way to his apartment.
and so that’s how genma found himself in his current predicament, reciting the words in his brain he’d say to you when you flashed him that bright smile of yours. all he had to do was invite you to dinner! it’s not like it was a straightforward date, some of his other friends would be going. it was a good way to ease into this!
genma is staring much too hard at a tree when he hears your voice from behind him, “i think that one’s an oak tree if that’s why you’re so focused on it” you laugh, smiling when genma turns to face you.
“y/n!” he shrieks, eyes widening before clearing his throat, “good morning! i didn’t even hear you” he smiled nervously and you bump his shoulder.
“you should be glad i didn’t become a shinobi, I’d probably outrank you” your voice is teasing as you wink at him, causing genma to think he was gonna go into cardiac arrest anytime soon.
“pft, as if!” he smiled back, “hey, you busy this afternoon?” he asks, his palms sweating beyond belief as you ponder his question.
“what today friday?” your lips are in a small pout as you think before shaking your head ‘no.’
“do you wanna be?” there’s a glint in his eyes that makes you smile, “depends” you reply, his once faux cocky smirk falling off his face.
“on what?” his voice much weaker than he intended it to come out. genma can’t help but study your features, drinking in how breathtaking you look so early in the morning.
“will you be there?” the question catches him off guard, had you always been this coward with him? was he always too stupid to realize?
“I’ll be the one picking you up” he smiles, beyond ecstatic that you were actually gonna say yes.
“then I’d love to be busy tonight, what’s the occasion?” your eyes are sparkling with excitement when he looks at you, he can’t help but smile widely as he explains.
“we’re having a surprise dinner for Gai! we missed his birthday since he was out on a mission that ran long” he explained, you couldn’t help but smile warmly at genma.
“that’s really sweet of you guys” you reply, “never took you for such a sap genma” you tease, bumping you shoulder into him, smiling as he rolled his eyes, hating the fact that a prominent blush was already on his cheeks.
“yeah, yeah” he grumbled, watching the way your smile turned into a small frown, your brows furrowing.
“hey, what’s wrong?” you’re looking at him with wide worried eyes as you explain to him you have no clue what to get Gai. genma only smiles, shaking his head and reassuring you, “don’t worry, i got him something I’ll just say it’s from both of us.”
Genma can’t help but feel like a proud peacock that afternoon when he’s walking home with kakashi.
“guess who got y/n talking to them for almost an hour this morning” he’s boasting, kakashi ever as uninterested sighs.
“raido?” Genma smacks the silver head jonin upside the head before pointing at himself, the cockiest smile on his face as he shakes his head.
“this guy!” he cheers, practically running circles around his much calmer friend. “and guess who they’re coming to gai’s birthday dinner with?!” he doesn’t give kakashi the chance to speak before cheering once more, “this guy!”
“so I’ll finally meet this ever famous, impossibly perfect y/n?” kakashi asks, genma nodding.
“I’ll see you there! I’ve gotta make sure i look amazing so i can woo them tonight” already taking off in the direction of his apartment. leaving kakashi alone in peace and quiet.
so he was finally gonna get to meet you huh. after who knows how long (it’s only been a month) of genma gushing about your every little move and comment, he was finally gonna see what all the hype surrounding you was. kakashi would never admit he was looking forward to meeting you, especially after the countless times he’s told genma he didn’t care to ever meet you on their almost daily walks home together.
it’s 6:30 when you hear a knock on your door, you’re checking yourself out once more in the mirror before opening the door with a bright smile.
“hey! come in i just have to slip my shoes on real fast” you smile, motioning for genma to walk in.
“you uh- you look great y/n” his face is burning up, only getting hotter when you giggle, asking if you can hold onto his shoulder for support as you slip your shoe on.
“you clean up nicely yourself” you reply, grabbing your bag before turning the light off, genma offering you his arm as the two of you leave.
“I’m not too overdressed am i?” you ask, genma quickly shaking his head, “no of course not!” he assures you, trying his best to not outwardly freak out because you’re so close he can smell your perfume.
the two of you make small talk as you arrive at the restaurant, genma pulling a chair out for you, giving you a charming smile when you thank him.
it wasn’t long before the large table was filled up, only the birthday boy himself another seat left empty. as it turned out you and genma shared many mutual friends, smiling widely and hugging kurenai and asuma when they walked in and saw you. anko practically ran towards you, crushing you in a hug and smiling widely.
“i didn’t know you knew Gai!” she beamed, taking the seat next to you and you shook your head.
“i don’t! but i know genma and he invited me” you smile, “i hope I’m not intruding” you frown, kurenai and anko both replying with a firm ‘no!’
“oh Gai is gonna love you! he better not end up intruding on girls night!” anko frowned and you laughed, shaking your head.
“for all we know he could hate me” you reply, turning your head when you hear genma snicker.
“y/n i don’t think there’s anyone in the world who could hate you” he smiles, leaning a bit closer to you, your face heats up a bit at the proximity, laughing softly before taking a sip of water.
“where the fuck is hatake? surely he wouldn’t be late to the dinner he planned” asuma states, his brows furrowed as he looks around.
genma’s attitude changes as he replies, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms, “that man will be late to his own funeral” he snickers and you can’t help but smile a bit.
you’d seen the famous copy ninja around the village, but with such different lives you’d never actually spoken to him. it was a miracle you were even friends with the amount of shinobi that you were friends with, considering you were just a normal villager.
“I’ve never met him actually” you comment to genma, and he smiled at you reassuringly, “he seems mean but deep down he’s a real nice guy” he says, asuma quickly getting his attention as they talk about something they’d been discussing earlier.
it’s only a couple more minutes when a silver haired man walks in with Gai at his side, his sworn rival talking his ear off.
“surprise!” everyone cheers as Gai notices the group of people at the table, “happy late birthday Gai!” everyone taking their turns hugging the man and handing him a small gift.
“you guys! i cant believe this” he smiles, his eyes tearing up a bit, “this truly is was youth is all about” everyone laughs at his words, ordering food and making small talk.
kakashi notices you immediately, your smile just a soft and bright as genma had described, your hair falling perfectly and framing your face, his breath almost catches in your throat when you laugh and push a strand of hair behind your ear.
it’s the moment that genma introduces you to each other that he realizes he has a very big problem.
“this is y/n! y/n this is kakashi” he’s staring at kakashi with a shot eating grin, one that says ‘told you they were amazing’ and kakashi has to stop himself from smacking him then and there.
“it’s nice to meet you!” you hold out your hand, kakashi taking it and shaking it gently.
“likewise, I’ve heard a lot about you” he smiles, holding back his laughter when genma almost chokes on his own spit.
“all good things i hope!” you giggle, turning to genma with a soft smile, your face flushed.
“of- of course!” he smiles sheepishly, the two you turning back to your meals and continuing to converse with each other.
as everyone is leaving the restaurant kakashi is giving the group signals, one that you don’t understand and are looking to genma to explain.
“there’s a secret after party at gai’s place asuma and i planned” he whispers and you’re nodding along, a smile on your face, “you wanna come?” his cologne is wafting into your nose and you can’t help but nod.
“sure why not” you smile, blushing a bit when genma grabs your hand, pulling you alongside him to catch up with the group.
it didn’t take long for the party to start once you got to the apartment. you laughed as you watched asuma and kurenai sing a terrible duet, genma and raido both downing shots one after the other and anko trailing off for the fifth time about something she’d been wanting to tell you but couldn’t remember what it was.
you glance at the clock and realize how late it had gotten, eyes widening and apologizing to anko that you had to get home.
“oh but you only had a couple shots! you aren’t even buzzed” she slurred, frowning when you hugged her tightly.
“sorry sweets but i have work tomorrow!” you pout, smoothing her hair down before saying goodbye once again and going off to find your date.
you have to hold back laughter when you find genma almost passed out next to Gai and raido, shaking them all a bit to make sure they were still alive.
“genma? I’m gonna head home” you smile and he gets up, wobbling a bit before he throws his arms around you.
“oh don’t leave us y/n! you’re too perfect to leave” he whines, your face flushing at his words, “i can walk you home” he smiles, getting up from his chair and almost slipping, causing you to catch him and help him to the couch.
“i don’t even think you can walk right now” you laugh, bidding him goodbye and letting him know you’ll see him monday.
as you finish your last goodbye’s and wish a much too intoxicated Gai happy birthday once more, you’re heading out the door, a small smile on your face as you close it.
“genma not walking you home?” the deep voice startling you, causing you to shriek a bit, your heart pounding as your eyes land on kakashi.
“god you fucking scared me” you laugh, hand over your heart, “no he’s piss drunk right now” your head shaking.
“I’ll see you around kakashi, take care” you’re smiling at him brightly, waving goodbye. and before he can stop himself he pushes himself off the wall and catches up to you, walking at your pace.
“oh i don’t want to inconvenience you” looking at him with kind eyes, he’s shaking his head at your words.
“ ‘s not an inconvenience, just wanna make sure you get home safe is all” his words make your stomach flutter and you nod, a small ‘okay, thanks’ leaving your lips as you look away, hoping he doesn’t see the blush on your cheeks.
it’s a bit chilly as you continue walking, kakashi noticed the way you’re holding yourself tightly, and within seconds his jacket is resting atop your shoulders.
“oh I’m fine really!” already taking the jacket off, kakashi shakes his head, placing it back on you before speaking up.
“keep it on, i was getting a bit hot anyway” he smiles, you return him a brighter one, tugging his jacket tighter around you, letting yourself drown in his cologne.
“I think it was really nice that you planned the dinner for gai” you speak up after a couple seconds, fiddling with your fingers. kakashi shakes his head at your words.
“it was all of us really” he shrugs and you look at him, a smile on your face when he turns to face you, “what?” there’s a smile creeping onto his lips.
“asuma said you planned the whole thing, give yourself some credit” you nudge him softly, hoping to god it was alright and he wasn’t insanely uptight like how genma painted him out to be.
“or do you have some sort of appearance to uphold” you tease, laughing a bit when the jonin scoffs at you, looking in the opposite direction with his chin up.
“i don’t have any appearances” he denies, turning to face you when he no longer hears your footsteps next to his.
“oh please! the whole village has you painted as ‘the great copy ninja’ so mysterious and dark” your voice a bit lower, as you say his famous nickname, he’s rolling his eyes and chuckling a bit.
“maybe I’m just mysterious and dark” he shrugs, following you when you continue to walk to your apartment.
“are you?” your voice curious as you look at him, trying to read his features as best you could.
“maybe” he replies, watching the way you cross your arms and smile up at him. his hearts beating a bit faster, feeling insecure under the scrutiny of your eyes. why did he care so much?
“you aren’t” you reply, shrugging your shoulders as you both continue to walk. kakashi’s eyes go wide and his brows are furrowed, his mouth open at your statement.
“you don’t even know me! how would you know?” he’s a bit defensive as you brush his off easily, looking at him with a warm smile that has his stomach doing flips.
“please! you plan out birthday dinners for you best friend, you walk someone home you don’t know and give them your jacket, you have actual friends that care about you and love you” you list off, “and you’ve been talking to me this whole time, dark and mysterious people would just say something vague and look off into the moonlight” you giggle.
“you sure you’re not a shinobi?” the question makes you laugh, waving him off before turning into the street when your apartment is.
“thank you for walking me, i felt much safer with the dark and mysterious copy ninja as my personal guard” you smile, kakashi returns it gracefully, a deep chuckle leaving his mouth.
“it’s my job to protect this village” he says, his voice raspy as he looks up at the sky, searching for the moon.
“new moon tonight” you mumble, kakashi’s shoulders falling a bit, “guess you weren’t meant to be dark and mysterious” you laugh, kakashi laughing alongside you.
“I’ll uh- see you around?” he asks and you nod, starting to shrug his jacket off before he stops you, placing his hand on top of yours. he’s caught off guard by his own actions, clearing his throat and composing himself when he he looks into your eyes.
“you can hold onto it, don’t want you to get cold walking up the stairs” he winces a bit at his terrible choice of words but you don’t seem to care.
“ever the gentleman” you giggle, holding the jacket close to you, “goodnight kakashi” you smile, biting your lip as you turn around and head up the stairs, waving goodbye before you open the door to your apartment, letting out shrieks and giggles when you throw yourself on your bed.
he doesn’t leave until you’re closing the door behind you, a smile on his face as he walks back to gai’s apartment. he’s smiling widely and kicking a rock, a slight blush on his face as he replays the conversation the two of you had.
it’s not until he reaches the apartment and his eyes land on genma that his world is crumbling around him. he can’t like you, not when his friend had been pining after you for a month.
he tries his best to forget about you, he really does, but it seems fate had other plans when you quite literally run into him only two days later, his jacket hanging off your shoulders.

Book Club - Kakashi Hatake
Bonus Chapter - Men Are From Mars
Genma is a menace to society, Kurenai is your guardian angel, and you're going to have a hangover.
word count 1.6k (9.2k words total)
cw: alcohol use
read it on ao3 here
The next week is mostly uneventful, until Saturday. On Tuesday, it's Haruki's birthday, so you treat your team to tayaki on the way home from training; afterwards, they all beg you for ice cream, even Toshiko (who never expresses much enthusiasm for anything). An evil spirit on a higher salary than you must possess your body, because you say yes, and then you're sure to send them home to their mothers just before the sugar rush hits them.
On Friday evening, a chance encounter with Genma ends up with both of you drunk in a bar. He's incorrigible as he drags you down the street, ignoring your half-hearted protests. "Come on, (name)-chan!", he insists, shoving you through the door. He's always called you that, even after you punched him in the Academy for it. "Don't make me drink alone - that would just be pathetic."
"Here's an idea, Genma - stop pushing, you've got me in the damn building already! - you could just not drink?"
He looks positively scandalised. "On a Friday?" Kami, he's annoying, but at least he pulls out the bar stool for you once he releases his iron grip on your shoulders.
"You know that only works for jobs where you get the weekend off, right?", you insist, one last attempt to get home at a reasonable hour. He's already ordering two bottles of sake. Oh, well. If you can't fight it then you may as well accept it.
Genma has a way with getting people drunk, and within the hour you're both leaning heavily against the bar top - he's flushed red, as he always does.. You nudge him on the arm. "You look boiling. Why not take your jacket off?". You've already done so: yours was covered in dust from today's training anyway, not exactly Friday night attire. At least the long-sleeve beneath is somewhat clean.
He winks at you. "You're a woman. You know how the ladies love a man in uniform."
"Are you blind-?!", you blurt a little louder than intended, spinning on your stool to gesture out at the room, "-it's a bar on the shinobi side of town - half the guys here are wearing the exact same jacket!"
"Which means I've already got an advantage over the other half.", Genma quips, and you glare at him.
"Don't tell me you're going to ditch me to go flirt."
He pats you on the arm. "I wouldn't dream of it. I actually went out last night so I already got-" you intensify your glare and raise a cautionary finger, "...Well, you know. But, hey, that doesn't mean we can't find some romance for you, (name)-chan. That guy over there's been looking at you for twenty minutes."
Genma's voice is sickly sweet, dripping with honeyed glee. You follow his gaze over to the man and barely conceal a shiver. He was a couple of years above you at the Academy, if you remember correctly, and yet he only passed the chuunin exams last year. "Oh, please, no - you're going to have to kiss me to scare him off."
"No offence, but I wouldn't go there.", Genma replies, then sips his sake as if he hasn't just horribly insulted you. It's silly how the comment makes your pride flare - Kami knows you'd never go there either - but you can't help it, especially after alcohol. A reminder seems in order.
"You begged me to be your girlfriend when we were nine, Genma-kun."
He laughs loudly, throwing an arm around your shoulder just long enough to deter the older man. "And I never forgot how you turned me down! Good thing I'm so dashingly handsome, or my ego might never have recovered."
You scoff, half-joking. "Your ego is fine, trust me."
"And yours is fragile tonight.", he responds, gently shrugging his shoulder into you. You instantly shoot him an apologetic look, albeit a little confused - you two have always bantered, but now he sounds uncharacteristically serious. Have you upset him? "...For the record, I totally think you're hot."
You try to smack him on the arm, miss, and hit the edge of the bar instead. Genma bursts into raucous laughter again, so genuine you can't help but join in. "Please don't ever say that again.", you grin, cradling your sore palm.
"Don't worry. I wouldn't want to upset Hatake."
The smile drops off your face, and his widens even further. "No! Don't tell me you know too!". Genma has a reputation for playing matchmaker for his own entertainment, even when neither party is particularly enthused by the idea. You briefly envision him trapping you and Kakashi in a broom cupboard together, or telling Kakashi with all the good intentions in the world how much you like him.
You pluck the senbon from his mouth and wave it threateningly. It takes him a second to register the absence. "Promise me you won't say anything to Kakashi. You know he's more skittish than a deer with things like this.", you insist. Genma swallows, still smirking. "I swear I'll stick this senbon right in your-"
"Alright!", he laughs. "But I do think you guys need to get over yourselves and just confess."
"I agree, Genma."
Oh, brilliant, it's Asuma.
He emerges from the growing crowd, sliding in next to Genma and looking at you sternly. "It's been weeks already since you figured out his feelings. I know you planned to goad him into confessing first, but clearly that isn't working."
Genma slaps an enthusiastic palm onto his knee. "He's right, (name)-chan! I mentioned your name to Hatake on Monday and he choked on air. It isn't right for a grown man to act like that."
"Neither of you get it!", you reply indignantly, and wonder for a moment why you agreed to go drinking with a man who has never had a relationship last longer than a month. "If I just come right out with it so soon - oh, forget it, I need to talk to a woman about this. Asuma, where's Kurenai?"
Asuma, to his credit, barely flinches. "Kurenai? I don't-"
"Don't even try it, I know you're meeting her here-"
Kurenai appears through the door promptly. Genma high fives you without even looking. The best thing about having shinobi friends is that they hear you call them even in a crowded bar; Kurenai swans over with the elegance of a woman who hasn't started drinking yet, squeezes Asuma's forearm by way of greeting, and chuckles at you and Genma.
"Started early, did you two?" You didn't think you looked that bad. But, when you give Genma a good look, you notice that his bandana is lopsided and his drink is dangerously close to tipping out the glass.
"That's my fault, I admit it." Genma admits gleefully, never one for shame.
"Kurenai, help me-", you beg, seizing her hands. Her warm eyes crease with concern. "These stupid, stupid boys don't understand why I can't 'just tell' Kakashi I have feelings for him, rather than playing the long game."
She furrows her eyebrows, giving the boys a good long stare. "How much have you had to drink? It's Kakashi. He'd go back to ANBU before he talks about his emotions." Although Genma scoffs and rolls his eyes, you don't fail to notice how Asuma hums noncommittally when Kurenai looks at him. Fucking traitor.
"Sure, he's ridiculous, but guys just don't respond well to that weird cat-and-mouse thing you've got going.", Genma reasons. You'd take that a lot more seriously if it was anyone other than him saying it.
Kurenai takes the drink that Asuma has ordered for her with a smile. "Say what you will, but I used that same strategy on Asuma here."
Asuma blinks. "...What are you talking about? We had a mature discussion."
"We did-", she nods, sipping her drink and watching him flounder. "After flirting for two months.  You would never have confessed so readily if I hadn't laid the groundwork first." Asuma blinks again, then turns back to the bar and asks for something stronger.
"I love you.", you almost sob, dragging her into a hug. Women, Genma mutters as he turns to Asuma; you both ignore him in favour of catching up instead. It's nice to see Kurenai and even nicer to have some girl talk after an hour of Genma, but you're reluctant to keep her for too long when she's with Asuma, so you discreetly point out an empty booth on the far side of the bar after a few moments. Just as they're leaving you, she looks back over her shoulder, and you mouth tell me everything next time.
"Ah, (name), I almost forgot to mention.", Asuma calls. You and Genma both sway dangerously as you spin back around. "Kakashi wanted you to know he's expected back in the village tomorrow." All of a sudden you're filled with the urge to chase after him and grab him and shake him, and shout whatexactlydidhesaytellmetellmetellme- but that's ridiculous, and they're already gone into the crowd, and Asuma wouldn't entertain your Sakura Haruno-like-behaviour anyway.
Genma wolf-whistles, and hands you another drink. You hesitate - you can't handle your alcohol like you used to, and you're not sure if you're keen on Kakashi seeing you hungover. That won't have him in any hurry to confess. Then you remember that you'll probably see - or at least hear - Naruto tomorrow too, and that settles the matter. You drink deeply.
"So, how about you forget to wear a bra tomorrow? If that doesn't push him over the edge, I don't know what will."

The Big Bad Wolf
Part V
Word count: 3,854
Warnings: some language, name calling
Note: Please Read.
This chapter is more for the development of Y/n as a character and focuses more on her other relationships so that you can get to know her better. There's going to be another part to continue this, posted either tonight or tomorrow, but that part will include Obito rather than just discussion about him.
Your weekend started with doing the chores you had neglected during the week in between bouts of entertaining your son. Early Saturday evening you were whipping up dinner while he ran around with a wooden toy kunai and a handful of squashed grapes. You were getting ready to tell him to throw the grapes away when a loud knock sounded at your door.
Puzzled, you turned your stove on low and went to answer. In front of your door, slouching and with his hands tucked in his pockets, was one Kakashi Hatake. He pulled a hand from his pocket and gave a short wave. “Yo,”
“Uh, hi..” You looked behind him as if expecting other people to pop out of the woodwork.
Your son, curious by nature, ran up behind you to get a peek. He poked his little head out from behind your leg and stared up at Kakashi. He waved at the little boy, who tucked his face behind your leg.
“I’m sorry, what’s his name again?”
“Hikaru,”
He poked his little head back out at the sound of his name, his hand holding the grapes further squashing them into your leg. He pointed his toy kunai at Kakashi and looked up at you. You ruffled a hand through his hair.
“He’s okay, buddy,”
You pulled him into your arms and stepped aside to let Kakashi in. You shut the door behind him, and caught him observing your home with his keen eyes. He took his shoes off while you moved around him, placing your son back down. He hurtled out of your arms like he had been a caged animal, dropping the grapes and running off to where his toys resided in the living room.
“Quite the handful, huh?” Kakashi flicked his amused eyes to yours.
“Wouldn’t trade it for the world,” You picked up the grapes.
“So, how have you been?” He asked.
“Not too bad; currently curious as to why you’re here,”
“Straight to the point, I see,”
You raised a brow, amused. “I’m not one to dawdle,”
HIs eyes crinkled in a smile. “Of course not,”
He didn’t say anything beyond that, just stood there by your door, watching you with twinkling eyes. You waited a moment, but when he just looked around to take a second look at his surroundings, you huffed. You motioned for him to follow you and threw the grapes away before taking your place by the stove, him slowly trailing behind you. He took up residence at the counter near you, lounging against it and tilting his head to look at you as if he had done it a hundred times.
"So," you prodded.
"So," he repeated cheerily.
You sighed through your nose. "Are you here for any particular reason?"
"Or have you decided to invite yourself for dinner?
“Maa, can’t a man do both?”
He looked terribly relaxed leaning heavily against the counter with his arms crossed. You looked at him sharply for not answering your question, and he finally relented. “The plan is for us to go shopping,”
You stared blankly for a moment before your brain caught up. “For Obito,”
He nodded his confirmation. “And I haven’t eaten all day, and this smells awfully good,”
Hikaru came bounding around the corner straight towards you, to which you automatically bent down to scoop him up. Upon noticing Kakashi’s eyes on him, he tucked his face away into your shoulder. You pressed your cheek to the top of his head and frowned.
“He ususally doesn’t have a problem with new people,”
“I’m sure he’ll come around.” He waved a dismissive hand.
You went back to stirring and adding cheese to your pot, your son stealing glances at Kakashi over your shoulder. You could tell because he ducked his head back down every time he was caught. You smiled at his silliness.
Turning the heating ingredient off, you instructed Kakashi to take three terracotta colored bowls out and filled them with your prepared chicken, noodles, and sauce. You took the forks out and the three of you sat at your round table. Hikaru was to your left, and Kakashi to your right.
You dug in, and were pleased that it was just as good as always. Your son ate noodles out of his hand, as always the one with the most proper table ettiquite. Kakashi made a noise and you glanced over at him.
“What is this?”
“Chicken Alfredo,” you replied slowly, unsure of his reaction.
“One of your western foods?”
You nodded, having taken another bite. He gave a slight shake of his head and pointed to his plate. “Are you cooking like this for Obito?”
Again, you nodded. “I should have hired you to be my caretaker instead,”
You laughed at how earnest he sounded. “I’m glad you like it.”
After a moment of silence while he at at a concerning speed, you added, “I can bring by some of what I make for Obito after work, if you really aren’t eating. I ususally end up cooking enough to feed a family.. an old habit I haven’t quite kicked,”
“If it isn’t too much to ask,”
“Sure,”
He cleared his bowl with speed, and did not deny you when you offered to refill it. He stretched his arms over his head and sighed lowly. Your son watched him carefully from his seat - as carefully as a toddler could with a noodle plastered to their forehead. You really couldn’t pinpoint what his issue with the man was. Never had he acted wary of essentially anyone after being around them for more than half an hour.
Kakashi thanked you for his second helping. You went back to the kitchen to wet a washcloth and cleaned off Hikaru's face while he adamantly refused your help. While you were struggling to get the last bits off his cheek, a phone started ringing.
Kakashi pulled his phone from one of his many pants pockets and answered without excusing himself from the table. He answered by stating, "Guy,"
You smiled to yourself. It had been a long while since you had seen or spoken to Might Guy. You wondered if he would remember you given you would meet again. You glanced at Kakashi as you heard loud, unintelligible talking from the other end. He mouthed 'sorry' at you.
“Maybe later,”
There was a pause. “Guy- I’ll let you - yes, I’ll let you know,”
Another brief pause, and you saw Kakashi’s ears tint red. He cleared his throat. “Goodbye,”
He sighed through his nose while running his fingers through his already messy white hair. Your interest was piqued, but you elected to keep any questions to yourself. He again apologized for the interruption and went back to eating, slower this time than the first.
You brought your and Hikaru’s bowls to the sink and carried him to his room to get changed into unsoiled clothes. Kakashi was just finishing washing his dishes as you were coming back out.
“Ready?” You asked.
He nodded and the three of you were on your way.
To start, you visited a shop that sold all things fabrics, including bedding and towels. Hikaru, always the little helper, unfolded any displayed fabric he could reach and handed it to you with a sweet smile. You would then hand it to Kakashi who would put it away for you.
You settled on a deep blue set and a forest green one, and a set of matching green towels that were on sale. At check-out, the clerk couldn’t keep their wide eyes from darting back and forth between you and him. They even looked shocked when he pulled out his wallet to pay for everything.
After that interaction, you noticed that they weren’t the only person to give you odd looks. You pointed it out to Kakashi while you were deciding between two sets of tupperware containers.
“There’ll probably be wild rumors circulating by the time I go back to work on Monday,” he shrugged, but his eyes held a mischievous glint.
You couldn’t help but giggle at the ridiculousness of people. Jokingly, you commented, “I’m sure the people will be thrilled about your secret wife and son,”
He raised a teasing brow. “Do you think? I thought the ladies preferred the ‘lone wolf’ thing I’ve been working on,”
You snorted. “I guess it depends who you ask,”
“I’m asking you,” he replied with a grin.
You picked up the tupperware you had decided on and placed it in the back of the cart with your son. You gestured at Hikaru and placed a hand on your hip.
“Family man, obviously. Liking kids is a prerequisite for anyone I date in the future, if I ever decide to again. But, on the other hand, I know plenty of kunoichi who like your loner vibe,”
“Oh?” he prodded as you pushed your cart forward.
You smirked and nodded, not giving him the satisfaction of continuing. You turned to another aisle for pots and pans and left Kakashi with the cart so you could pick out a few of the cheaper ones that were still decent quality.
“Hey, do you have any suggestions for food Obito likes?”
Kakashi looked at you blankly, seeming to have forgotten the entire reason you were shopping together. “I would say… sweet things?”
You filed that away for later so that the rush of dessert ideas wouldn’t distract you and cause you to buy things he didn’t need. You were trying to be selective so as to not waste Kakashi’s money. He hadn’t actually given you a budget for the trip and it made you more anxious to not know your parameters.
“That’s good to know, but I meant more like, actual food?”
Guilt appeared in his dark eyes. “I-I don’t really know. He liked dango and lollipops when we were kids, but…”
He looked at you apologetically. You pat the back of his arm in understanding. While putting a pot in the cart you couldn’t help but let a little jab slip to lighten the mood.
“You were a prick as a kid, so I shouldn’t have expected you to know,” you sniggered.
He chuckled. “Just because you’re right doesn’t mean you have to say it,”
You sighed playfully and shook your head. “Advice your younger self would have benefitted from,”
He gasped and put a hand on his chest. “You’re mean,”
You shrugged, grinning brightly at him. His eyes were nearly closed with how wide he was smiling. Suddenly, a voice called out to Kakashi. You both turned to see Genma Shiranui lightly jogging up to you two. He was in civilian clothes, a red bandana keeping his hair back.
His eyes had been on Kakashi, but he came to a full stop upon seeing you. He looked like he had seen a ghost, which you couldn’t blame him for. It had been over three years since the last time you had spoken to him. The two of you were close friends and used to train together, before your son’s father, Toma, came into the picture with his overly jealous nature.
He looked between you and Kakashi, finally spotted Hikaru, who was partially hidden behind you, and then between the two of you before settling on your face. You smiled shyly and did a little awkward wave.
“Long time no see,”
He stared at you a moment longer while Kakashi observed the interaction with interest. He hadn’t been aware the two of you knew each other. You were a few years younger than him and all of his friends, after all.
“Y/n,” he breathed.
He shook his head slightly, coming back to himself and replacing his shock with a thousand-watt smile. He took the last few steps towards you and pulled you up into a bone-crushing hug.
“Genma! You’re gonna squeeze the life outta me,”
You giggled as he twirled you around once before setting you down. He kept his hands on your arms and inspected you.
“Where the hell have you been? When did you come back to the village?!” he exclaimed.
You blushed at his intensity and felt a wave of embarrassment wash over you. Where you had been was a long, complicated story. Why you hadn’t been in contact with your old friends was a result of it.
“Oh, you know, I was busy with -” you used your thumb to gesture at your son behind you, who was standing in the cart watching you.
Genma let go of you and took a look at your toddler. He smiled at the little boy and you told him to say “hello”. He followed instructions with a little smile. Genma “awwwed” at him. You pulled him from the cart and into your arms.
"I won't lie, that's one cute fucking kid," he grinned.
"Well duh, he's mine,"
“Yeah, that dickhead’s his father though,” he said bitterly.
You sighed through your nose. Defeatedly, you just said, “Yeah,”
“Are you guys still together?” His tone remained bitter, though you could tell he tried to reel it in.
You smiled excitedly. “Fuck no! I can’t tell you how happy I am to be free of him,”
Genma seemed beyond relieved, and released a breath he had been holding in while awaiting your response. “Good riddance! I hate that guy,”
“I know,” you laughed.
“Me too,”
You just looked at each other for a few moments while your good memories with him flooded back to you. You were interrupted by the clearing of a throat as Kakashi stepped into the bubble the two of you had created.
“Oh,” Genma said, looking away from you.
He shoved a hand into his pocket. “You’re coming to our hangout tonight, right?”
Kakashi’s eyes flashed to you and back to Genma. “Well.. I don’t know, I’m a little busy,”
Genma cast a suspicious glance between the two of you, and settled it on Kakashi. You made a noise that drew their attention back to you. “We can cut this short, don’t let me hold you back from your friends,”
You placed your son back in the cart, when Genma looked at you like he had some sort of epiphany. “Actually, you should come too! It’s at my place and it’ll be a lot of fun,”
You frowned. “I wasn’t invited, and besides, I have Hikaru,”
Genma rolled his eyes. “I literally just invited you, and I’m sure you can find a babysitter,”
You thought for a moment, before slowly pulling your phone from the bag that hung on your shoulder. You unlocked it and held your finger up to Genma as you put it up to your ear for a call.
It would be a lot of fun to go to a little party, even if you didn’t really know who would be there. You hadn’t gone out more than a handful of times since you had gotten pregnant, almost all of which had been after the breakup. You deserved a night out, right?
“Hello?” Toma answered on the other end.
“Hello,” you replied in a clipped tone; never speaking to him in anything other than your business voice these days.
“What do you want?”
“Would you like to have your son tonight?”
He sighed on the other end, and you felt a pinch of frustration. “Why?”
“I have some business to attend to,” you replied seamlessly.
He scoffed into the receiver. “On a Saturday night? What business could you possibly have?”
You glared at nothing in particular, your eyes avoiding the two men in front of you. You readjusted Hikaru on your hip. “The Hokage has requested me,”
You smiled at Genma and Kakashi. Genma stifled a laugh while Kakashi looked out of place, his ears tinted pink. Your smile somewhat reassured him, though his ears didn't lose their color.
Toma laughed sharply from the other end. “You’re so full of shit. Why would the Hokage want to see you? If you want to go be a whore, ask someone else to watch him,”
Your expression soured. “How about this, I’ll bring him with me when I drop Hikaru off,”
“Whatever, if he’s not there I’m not taking him so you can whore yourself out,”
In a customer service tone, you replied, “Great, we’ll be there soon. Bye!”
“They way you talked to him kinda freaked me out,” Genma said the second you put your phone down.
You shrugged. “If I’m reasonable with him he stops acting like a dick and thinks he has a chance to get back with me,”
He responded with a look of disgust. “Did I ever tell you I hate him?”
“It is what it is,”
You turned to Kakashi. “I’m really sorry to waste your time, but I need you to come with me to drop him off,”
He shrugged. “You aren’t wasting my time. Should we get going?”
You nodded. You smiled at Genma, “I guess I’ll see you later,”
He came in for another hug but your son put his little hand out and said, “No!”
Genma put his hands out in front of him, a laugh escaping him. “Sorry bud,”
You pressed a kiss to your son’s forehead. Always protective of his mom. “I’ll see you later,”
He turned to Kakashi, shooting him a look that was returned with one of warning. “I’ll let Guy know you’ll be there,”
The three of you checked out and dropped everything off at your apartment, where you picked up Hikaru’s diaper bag. Toma lived across the village so you spent a good half an hour traveling there.
You knocked loudly on the door of the small house Toma shared with his mother. Kakashi stood behind you with his arms across his chest.
The door opened a moment later to a Toma, who was sneering at you before it was even fully opened. It completely dropped into a look of shock when he saw Kakashi glaring coldly at him from over your shoulder. Kakashi stepped closer to you and Toma stepped back.
“What the fuck?” He growled.
You looked at him innocently. “What? You told me to bring him,”
He clenched his jaw and grit his teeth, thinking better than to lash out at you in front of the Hokage. He held out his hand and you slipped the diaper bag off your back to hand it to him. You let Hikaru down who went and hugged his father’s legs.
Toma turned his attention to his son, his glare disappearing for a moment while he said hello and took him into his arms. But it returned the second he looked back at you. You noticed that he chose not to look at Kakashi at all.
You smiled sweetly at your son. “Bye sweetie, Mommy loves you!” You blew him a kiss and he returned the gesture.
You turned around and walked away without saying anything to Toma. You could feel him glaring daggers in your back as Kakashi fell into step beside you.
He sat on your couch while you got changed into something nicer than your cleaning clothes that you had been in all day. You had told him he could go home and that you were fine to meet him at Genma’s, but he chose to ignore you. He didn’t give an excuse, he just straight up ignored you and followed you in. He sat silently the whole time, lost in his own world.
When you were finished changing and the two of you were heading out the door, he asked, “How do you like working with Obito?”
So that’s what you were brooding on the couch about.
You considered him before responding. “I like it enough. I think.. I think that he needs someone there with him,”
Kakashi ran a hand through his hair. “Yeah, me too,”
“I would visit more often, but I’m always so far behind on work, and then I forget,”
You nodded sympathetically. He continued, “I’m glad you took the job. Obito is… complicated, but what he really needs is care.”
You gave him your full attention as you walked ahead in the dimming light. The streetlamps were sure to be turned on before you arrived.
“He’s been given a bad hand in life. Started as an orphan, struggled academically when we were in the academy, and fell in love with our teammate who only loved him as a friend.”
“Why are you telling me this?” You questioned during a pause, genuinely curious.
He ran a hand again through his already messy hair. He sighed through his nose. “It’s just... important to me that you understand where he’s coming from.”
You remained quiet so he carried on. “Everyone thought he was dead, after the battle of Kannabi Bridge, and I mourned him every single day. He’s one of the biggest reasons I changed for the better.”
He inhaled deeply. “But he wasn’t. He was captured by Madara, and Madara used his Uchiha blood against him. You see, the Uchiha’s love deeper than should be possible, and Obito was that way, even after being the underdog his whole life.”
He kicked a rock as he walked, pausing his speech for a moment. “So, Madara orchestrated the whole.. event that killed Rin, and made him watch. His love for this world turned to brutal hatred.”
He huffed what sounded like a half hearted laugh. “But here’s the thing - with the Eye of the Moon plan, he was still trying to save the world, in his own twisted way,”
His expression was somber as your eyes connected. You both stopped in the street. “Obito desperately wants to be a good man. He deserves to have the happiness Madara stole from him; deserves to be the best man he can be.”
“I’m trying to give him that chance, but I’ve failed by leaving him alone... Again. I know I can’t ask you to be anything other than his caretaker, but please, please understand that he’s not a bad person.”
Your eyes watered at his plea. You could feel the love and anguish radiating off of him as his chakra signature came into contact and mingled with yours. You searched his dark eyes.
“Why me?” you asked softly.
He didn’t miss a beat. “You’re a good person, and I trust you,”
You were taken aback by his admission. Sure, the two of you had spent some time together on missions - mostly when you were sent as back-up to save him, or when you had accompanied him and his genin on missions, but you weren’t close. You considered him somewhat of a friend back then, in the way someone is more than an acquaintance but you wouldn’t go out of your way to see.
“But-”
He interrupted you, his expression earnest. “The fact that you denied the promotion to jounin time and time again to keep yourself from killing as much as you could says a lot about you, Y/n,”
You opened your mouth but no words came out. The streetlamps flickered to life, reflecting in his eyes and illuminating his wild hair. You stared in silence, your heart thumping at his words. At some point, the two of you started walking again, and you reached your destination with your mind spinning.

3. Genma Shiranui
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man was fine as shit for no reason do u see that smirk? He just has that cool bad boy vibe except he's not, he's a good boy who does his job. It's in his description that he appears bored/tired, but he is really a kind person. What a sweetie. And when he shot the senbon?? That's some tongue technology right there. I have a weakness for boys with brown hair, okay?
My top two are tied:
Kabuto Yakushi and Kakashi Hatake
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kabuto is literally the love of my life. This boy was sickeningly handsome with a sickly sweet smile and personality. I was surprised to hear that most people hate him just because he's good at being a ninja haha. But the Kabuto before he became super evil is the cutest, sweetest thing in the world. How the fuck do you look at him and not fall in love? His voice is perfect as well. And he's a medical man who can work on you?? *faints*
Plus, it's super hot when someone hides their talents instead of bragging, Kabuto was like super powerful but acted like he was bad at taking the test T_T when he was literally a genius and a successful ninja??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love Kakashi a lot, but not in the same way as Kabuto. I'm just in love with the way he carries himself. He's obviously the opposite of Might Guy because he is cool without trying. He's handsome, he's effortlessly cool, he's sweet and caring to the kids, he's strong after everything that's happened to him. A total babe <3.

(n.) a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something they both desire but which neither wants to begin
………………………………………………………………………….
As children, the concept of a ‘crush’ was so innocent. It was a sweet thing, something adults gush over if they ever find out, something your friends teased you about as they try to push you in the direction of the person you fancied.
It was innocent.
You’d make love notes, buy little treats or toys, and leave them on your crushes desk when they weren’t looking. Then you’d park over at them all day, hoping by some miracle the crush would instantly know you were the one to bring them the gift, even if you never signed it.
Kakashis desk was always littered with gifts or cards the one year he was at the academy. He was cool, and little girls would gather to watch him practice or spar. It could make one flustered, how good he was. It was was almost unnatural how amazing he was. No bloodlines, no special clan gift, just him.
As a child, I always wanted to talk to him. Our parents were friends, I wanted to be his friend too…but he looked right pass me.
I wasn’t the best student. I struggled at taijutsu, my fingers would get twisted if I tried to do a hand sign, and when I got scolded I would tear up. No one in the Capital yelled at me, I was a Princess, (Y/n)-Hime, but here I was just a regular kid. Titles, clans and such didn’t matter to children at that age. Sure, it made you look cool, but if you weren’t rising through the classes and being the best you soon got dumbed as a loser.
I wasn’t the worst student, Obito was levels behind everyone, Anko goofed off so much she got a bad reput but was smart when she applied herself, and Gai couldn’t even use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, but it was humiliating because of who I was. What I was.
How could the granddaughter of Senju Tobirama, the man who created most of the Justus known, suck at being a shinobi?
I never wanted to be a Shinobi.
I was happy living in the capital and being doted on like a princess, learning how to sit and eat like a proper lady, wearing beautifully crafted kimonos and yukatas, and reading history books in the gardens without any fear of being attacked by an enemy.
I had felt betrayed when my mother left me in Konoha, leaving me to become something I wasn't. I wasn't like the children at the academy, I was years behind.
Kushina, my mother's distant cousin, saw me struggling and took me into her care. I had been living in the Senju mansion by myself the first year I came to Konoha, and after Kushina started tutoring me after my academy classes I began to stay at her apartment.
Little by little my stay at the mansion became less and less, and soon the room I had called my own held nothing of me…and I left the house.
Kushina said she saw herself in me, having also come from a different land and struggled in the academy. She had Mito-sama, and I had her.
………………………………………………………………………….
I stay under the shade of the tree, leaning against it as I watch the academy kids run around and play. My arms were crossed, and I frowned slightly as I watched the little blonde-haired boy sit by himself again. He sat on the swing, dragging his feet on the dirt as he pushed himself, toeing the ground. It was cold out, yet he was barely wearing anything. I frown more, leaning into the tree. Gotta remember to buy him a scarf…
“Youre not supposed to be here.”
I look over, eyes softening slightly, “Hokage-sama…”
He smiled, walking closer to me with his hands clasped behind his back, “if I remember correctly, you're supposed to be looking over the new genin files for your first students.”
I huff, shoving my hands in the pockets of my jacket. I frown as he speaks, slowly loosing motivation to listen.
“…I have other stuff to worry about, I can’t babysit preteens right now.”
“Oh? And that would be? Forgive me, Y/n-hime, I’m old and my memory seems to fail me.” He was teasing me, and I sigh as I push myself off the tree and follow him as we walk away from the academy.
“…I can’t take care of kids right now, I have my assignment to do. Kids will only push my deadline back more and cost more lives to be lost because I’m not working on an antidote.”
“You have an apprentice, yes?” He asks, and I huff. I roll my neck, my tired eyes looking over at him as he faces forward, “Setsuko is smart, but she can’t do it on her own.”
“Ito Setsuko, the laxative creator in the Chunin exams, yes?”
I snort, feeling a bit proud of the teen for being recognized, “yeah…she’s a good kid, but she’s not ready for such a big task, Hokage-sama-”
“Hiruzen. I raised you for a good amount of your life, your mother too, I think we’re familiar enough for you to not need to call me ‘Hokage-sama’.”
My expression softens slightly, taking him in. I knew he still felt bad for not being a better father figure to my mother, not helping her when she was denied as Senju clan head, not and he was trying to make up for it through me. It was sad.
“Hiruzen-Jii…Setsuko isn’t ready to do an assignment this important yet…I’m not ready to take on students…can’t even take care of my Senseis own kid. ” I spoke softly, kicking a rock as we continued to walk through the village. His expression droops, and I could hear him swallow slightly.
“…you know why you can’t take him in, Y/n-hime.”
“No, no I really don’t…explain it again for me?” I snip, and I instantly felt like a child again waiting for my mother to come home for the holidays only for her never to show.
He looks over at me, and my chest clenches at how old he really looked. The lines on his face didn’t suit him, made him look so much older than he actually was. The wars, the village, so many people either dying or leaving seemed to age him.
He sighs, “…having you take him in will draw too much attention on him…he must remain unknown to our enemies outside the village.”
“Yet him being alive gains him ones in the village…” I hiss quietly, and my hands clench in my pockets; balling so tight my nails pricked my skin.
“…I can’t control what the civilians think-”
“But you could help him out a bit!” I hiss, “do something so that he isn’t suffering!”
He frowns, “…if I could, I would.”
I scoff, rolling my eyes at him. Years ago, I would never dream of scoffing at the Hokage, but now I couldn’t seem to care.
“…he’s a child.”
“He is Minatos child, which makes him if discovered in danger.” he speaks in a hushed, but firm tone.
I clench my jaw slightly, holding my tongue. He was Kushinas son too, her baby, and someone I swore to protect. Back then I didn't fight back when the council refused to let me take him in, always ready to follow orders, but now I felt the need to take him home and care for him.
I could put a second bed in my room, get rid of my desk, and make do with working in the kitchen if I had to. Genma would complain at first, but he too cared about Naruto even if he never voiced it. I would buy parenting books, toys, and anything else the kid needed to get by. I'd care for him like Kushina cared for me…and the council knew that I'd do it.
Would they though? No, absolutely not. Bullshit reason after bullshit reason, nothing that actually gave me a real reason why I couldn't take care of the little boy.
“…if I took him in, no one would touch him. I'd make sure.” I spoke softly, not looking at the disapproving face he was giving me right now.
“Oh yes, because you're not in constant danger yourself for your bloodline?” he pressed sarcastically, and I rolled my eyes again.
“Something I have to live with, all clan heads have to live with, its not just me. Just two years ago the Hyuga heir was kidnapped and almost killed.”
“Yes, and we almost went to war again for it. Now imagine if it was Naruto, we could start a whole new shinobi wa-”
I glare at him, stopping in the street, “if I was watching him, there wouldn't be a chance!”
People were looking. Of course, they were, its not everyday the Hokage graces the streets on foot, but someone yelling at him? Especially the bastard heir of the Senju clan? This was shocking.
He stayed firm, and I could see by the little movement of his hand he was telling his Anbu to stand down.
Yeah, like I'd kill the Hokage. I snorted at the thought, and stood straight. He huffed at my nature, speaking lowly, “…remember your place, (Y/n).”
I shoot him a glare, and bow lowly, “…forgive me…Hokage-sama.”
I jump up, landing on the roof. Three Anbu were lurking there, and hand stances ready to strike. I saw the spiky stuffs of silver hair behind the familiar painted dog mask, and knew that her was glaring at me. Cursing me out in his head.
I huffed, rolling my eyes before stuffing my hands in the pockets of my oversize TI jacket.
“At ease,” I side eye them, walking along the roof with a click of my heals, heading back to the TI building to hide away in my cave.
………………………………………………………………………….
“Are you fucking crazy?!”
I don't raise my head from my work, the dropper steady in my hand.
“Knocking would be most appreciated.”
“I should knock sense into you! Threatening the Hokage, (Y/n)?! In public?! You are crossing too many lines?!”
I spin around, glaring at Kakashi from behind my safety goggles, “I want threatening him, I was speaking to him.”
He glared, both eyes on display. The red glow of the gifted eye seemed to drown him, fighting off the dim glow of the blue luminous poison in my dropper. Such opposites we had become.
“…i can't prote-…I cant spare you if it comes to the Hokage's safety, (Y/n).” he growled, and I raise my chin at him.
“I'm not a threat to the Hokage, Hatake-san. Now, if you'll excuse me…this is a private office.” I turn away from him, a stupid decision if he was actually trying to do me harm.
Quietly, almost unheard, was the sharp inhale from him. I never, never, had used his last name to address him, even when we weren't talking for years at a time. He was always Kakashi to me, never anything else.
He leaves after a beat, and the air is cool again. I sigh, pushing my work to the side to lay my head in my arms. Nothing was the same anymore, nothing made sense. Not that it ever did, nothing was sane or normal when you're a bastard of two highly regarded clans of two highly regarded villages.
Nothing made sense.
The chunin exams, Kushina said, were the biggest event for a young shinobi, bigger than becoming a Jonin. Jonin can be promoted at any time, chunin only gains their rank after proving him or herself to not only the Hokage but multiple other Kages and feudal lords.
Gai was practically buzzing after the first round, the written exam, and even more giddy after we got our of the Forest of death after running into team Minato. Now, he was off the wall bouncing for beating Obito in the 1v1.
I felt bad for Obito, Gai was known for kicking pretty hard and Obito seemed to have received full force. His jaw was bruised, goggles kicked off as he pathetically leaned on the railing with Kakashi and Rin. But I couldn't worry about him right now, not now when names of people were being called and the gnawing anxiety of my name not being called made my heart twist and constrict.
I jumped when a hand fell onto my shoulder, “ You’re doing it again.”
I stopped the assault on my nail beds, and looked over my shoulder at Genma. In two years of being on the same team, I had grown closest to him. He could read me like the easiest open book, understand me like a second language. He knew I was nervous…why I was nervous.
It was normal, even in war times, for Genin from other villages or nations to compete in the same Chunin exam. What made me so nervous was on the other side of the sparing platform was my cousins from Suna…cousins who didn’t quit care for me all that much.
“Calm down…it’s a 1 in 1 million chance you’ll have to fight one of them-”
“It’s still a chance.” I breath, my breath coming in short gasps as the names on the screen began to raffle. 1 in 1million, I tried to remind myself, but fait had hated me since birth.
“The next spar will be Senju Isuzu of Konoha, against Ryōichi Satoshi of Suna.” The proctor announced, and I felt my face turn green as my stomach churned uncontrollably.
Satoshi, my Aunt Hachis oldest son, hated me since my birth for dishonoring the Takamori clan name. Hatred most likely fed by my aunt, who disliked me just as much as my mother.
I walk down the balcony to the stairs, passing team Minato. Rin gave me a thumbs up, unknowing of what I was getting into. Obito winced at me, and Kakashi gave me the same uncaring look he always gave.
“Good luck, (Y/n)-chan! You’re gonna do great!” She spoke with her kind smile, and I couldn’t snap at her. She didn’t know, how could she know she was praising me just before my own death?
I gave her a little smile, and walked on.
Nearing the entrance, Satoshi was leaning on the wall, waiting for me.
“…jūkei.” I greeted softly, and he huffed. He stood off the wall, next to me as we walked in, “don’t go crying to your father after I beat you into the ground, Yaro.” He spoke lowly, his angry purple irises narrowed at me.
He walked ahead of me, getting in his stance. I walked to mine, my breath in short pants as my throat felt dry and full of water all at the same time.
“…Will you fight me as a bastard, or as a Takamori?” He asked, reaching into his back pocket. I swallowed when he pulled out a blindfold, one with the Takamori clan symbol on it. Even since my grandfather, Takamori Akifumi married the priestess Kazema Naoko, their descendants have practiced the Kazema clan fighting style of relying on your minds eye.
Cover the eyes, see from your third eye or something stupid like that. The Kazema is what made the Takamori clan different from other animal summoner clans, yet the Kazema clan is forgotten.
I swallow, following his lead. I bring down my headband over my eyes, and all goes black…until color. I couldn’t see him…I could feel him. His chakra, his smell, the sound of his heartbeat and the small shifts in his stance. Block out one sense, and the others are amplified.
“And…BEGIN!”
He was running towards me, I could hear him and feel his angry Chakra nearing me. As he went to throw his punch, I dodged, and pulled out a kunai to stab his leg. He grabbed my wrist at the last second, kneeing me in the chin.
I groaned, jumping back. I felt blood in my mouth, my lip split from my teeth being forced to bite.
I could hear him snort, “damn…Konoha has taught you shit.”
I glare, pulling out another kunai. He pulled out his own, and lunged at me. I rolled on my back, and rabbit kicked him away from me before flipping up and meeting his kunai. I couldn’t see it, but I knew he was glaring at me. He pushed against my kunai, backing me up to the wall.
I pulling out another, and swung, but was met again with another kunai, “come on, (Y/n). Fight. Back!”
I step against the wall, and use my chakra to keep myself stuck to the wall before kicking his jaw and jumping back. He snarled, throwing a kunai at my head before following me up the wall. I dodged again, dropping low to sweep his leg but he saw it coming, up over me and landing, swinging his kunai at my exposed head aim to kill.
I grasped his wrist before he could deliver the finishing blow, and using one hand weaved the sign for Katon.
I felt his chakra spike in fear, and he quickly ripped his wrist away and jumped back to great a mud wall to block the fire ball.
I followed the smoke, jumping over the wall with my kunai at the ready in high in both hands above my head. He sees me and rolls away, causing me to plunge the kunai into the wall and embedding it. It would take too much time for me to pull it out, so I left it and pulling out another to attack.
He roared at me, sharp canines exposed as if ready to plunge into my throat as he swings a kunai at me. I block, and bare my own canines, I would not be intimidated and belittled by a spoiled little bitch.
He took an opportunity, punching me in the jaw. I stumbled back, and lost my footing and my chakra gave out in my feet. I gasped, falling back into the mud wall he made. I coughed, wind knocked out of me.
“This is child’s play, a joke! You, a Takamori and a Senju can’t even fight?!” I hear him crouch down, and his hands began weaving, “you dont deserve to live, Yaro, a disgrace. KAZE NO YAIBA!”
My eyes behind my head band widen, and I roll fast to stick back on the wall. He was going to fucking cut me in half, the psycho! I thought at I hear the rock split and the broken half fall and shatter on the sparring platform. I turn my head back to were his chakra was, standing up from my crouched position. It was no use yelling at him for almost killing me, he was trying to and I knew.
He ran towards me, dragging the Kaze no yaiba along the wall and splitting it. He wasn’t strong enough to control such a Justus, and I couldn’t believe my aunt or anyone else on my father’s side of the family would allow him to learn it so young.
We are 8…8 year olds trying to kill each other to appease our families and villages. I thought with a sickening feeling in my stomach as I jumped to dodge his swing of the wind sword. I land behind him, and run up the wall to create some distance.
I wince slightly, feeling pain in my side. I look down, seeing he managed to get a hit on me. I keep my hand on the wound, trying to ignore it.
I was going to run out of chakra if I continued this game of cat and mouse while using my chakra to stick to the wall. I was going to die. I slide, grabbing a hold of the kunai stuck in the wall and sound around to hold myself on it. If I could lessen how much time I spent using my chakra to stick to the wall, I could use it for bigger attacks.
I pull my water bottle out, and pop it open and chug it. To use a water jutsu, you needed a large body of water to hold the jutsu. I didn’t not, in fact, have a large body of water but I could make do with this.
But I had to keep him away first.
I gather my chakra, turning it to wwater in my mouth, then shaping it to a senbon. Tenkyū, I thought before shooting it at Ryōichi.
While he was distracted, I weaved the tiger hand sign as sweat began to drip down my brow. I was getting weaker, I had never fought someone so hard before while using the Takamori fighting style of being blind folded…or ever.
“Suiton: Teppōdama!” I yell out, and water shoots from my mouth.
I hear him yell out as he’s hit and pushed to the ground of the sparing platform. I continue to keep the spray on him, keeping him down.
The water dies down as my chakra fades, and I gasp for breath. I weakly stand, using chakra to slide down the wall. I shuffle towards him, and suck in a breath. I didn’t kill him, his chakra was still very much alive, but the fear that I had done permanent damage made me sick.
“…Since Ryōichi Satoshi is unable to continue, Senju (Y/-”
He kicked my leg, causing me to fall on my back before lunging on top of me. I fought back, kicking and punching my he grabbed my wrist, pinning it before stabbing and kunai through my palm.
I cried out, thrashing to get him off but it was no use as soon as his hands circled my neck. My eyes widen, and I claw at his hands with my free hand.
I could practically feel his smile, “this…this is what should happen, this is your fait!”
NO!” I was not going to die.
With a hazy mind, I pull my last Kunai out, and with all my strength dug it into the skin of his cheek and dragged it up, cutting open his face and taking his eye.
He screamed, letting my neck go as he pushed away from me, howling like a mad animal. He was crying, begging, screaming as he rolling around on the floor in pain.
Shakily, I sat up, pulling the blooded headband away from my eyes. My face and chest were covered in his blood, and I look at him in terror as medical nin raced to get him out of the area.
The proctor grasped my hand, holding it up and I sat there paralyzed.
“Senju (Y/n) wins!”
I stood up, swaying a bit before hunching over, and throwing up. It was all pain, and I sobbed at the acid and at what I had done. I had taken his eye, I had scarred him for life, he would never recover because of me.
Kushinas gentle hands guided me away, holding me close to her as I cried and hiccuped. I was 8…and I wanted my childhood back. I wasn’t like my grandfather, i wasn’t like my father or my mother, I wasn’t like my Sensei, I wasn’t strong like them.
I didn’t want to be a shinobi.
I wasn’t Kakashi.
I felt a spike of Chakra, and I sat up. I turned to look towards the door, but no one else was in the room. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, and I grasped the closest thing I could reach, a fucking pencil.
“…this is an S-rank lab…leave or suffer the consequences.” I spoke out, knowing someone was in the room.
All was quiet, still, but my guard never dropped. Suddenly a kunai is thrown at my head, and I dodge it only to have to dodge a second. From the wall emerged three shinobi, all wearing Rain ninja headbands.
“Rain…? Allied yourself to another killer?” I scoff, grabbing one of the kunai.
“Stupid woman needs to mind her own business, meddling in things she doesn’t understand.”
“Scientists are annoying, so troublesome to kill.”
The third doesn’t speak, his eyes narrowed as he pulls out his katana.
“All your data, we’ll be taking it.”
“I seriously doubt that…” I muttered, and blocked his swing with the kunai before pushing him back. I grab my note book, and stuff it in my pocket before kicking another guy as he lunged at me.
I raced to my door, and cursed to find it locked. I didn’t lock it, Kakashi must have that fuckin-
I gasp, my head being pulled back by my hair. Just before I was fully away from it, I slammed the alarm button, causing sirens to wale out and the room to be plunged in red light.
I straddle the guy who pulled me back, punching the shit out of him before being dragged back and thrown against the wall harshly. I snarl, digging my kunai in the man’s shoulder before kicking him in the stomach, and pulling the kunai out. I was not loosing this kunai.
The third guy with the katana, punched me, coming into my blind spot and grabbing my throat with one hand as the other searched for my note book. I lean in, straining against him choking me to bite his ear, ripping a piece off. He screams out, letting me go to give me the opening to head butting him and stab him in the throat.
I wipe my face of the blood, and hear yelling on the other side of the door.
“In here!” I yell, weakly, still a bit winded. I raise the kunai, I still had two more guys to either kill or subdue.
The guy on the floor was knocked out, I wasn’t worried about him, but the biggest of the bunch was still kicking.
“Fuck…”
He lunges at me, swinging his large fist. I jump back, sizing up my options. Larger opponents meant their balance was off more, if I could take out a leg…
He swings again, and I jump just in time to see my table being smashed along with all my shit…and the poison, that’s it!
It rolls towards me, by fait or unluckiness for this guy, and I grasped the bottle and throw it at his face. He yells out, and gets blinded by the poison eating his face away, but he’s still swinging. If I’m not careful, a drop could get on me, or his fist could hit me.
I needed to take him out, and I grab the kunai.
Two steps back, one step forward, one step back, step forward Strike!
I go for his side, stabbing him and jumping away fast, but he doesn’t go down.
“Shit!” What was taking them so long with the door?! Was it the lockdown system?! Can’t they just shut it down?!
I dodge another hit, and back against the door. I peak out the little window to see four ANBU, Genma, Ibiki and Inoichi. Kakashi…he was fucking livid it looked, barking orders that were muffled out by the door. His eyes caught mine before a fist shot out right next to my head, denting the door.
“Holy shit…”
“Found you, mouse.” His voice twisted from his whole face now down to the bone, i couldn’t believe he was still going!
Must be a side effect…gives the person tainted with the poison super human abilities to carry out mass destruction.
Oh, remember that pencil? Oh, it’s going into his head, no joke.
I rawr, plunging the pencil into his eye and using my palm to hit it to go deeper. I hiss as my hand gets the poison on his, and I begin to loose skin on my hand just in time for them to finally open the fucking door.
“FUCKING FINALLY!”
Genma races in, checking me over and holding me close, “are you okay?! Oh Kami I was so fucking scared.”
“Genmaaa, handddd!” I groan, and he curses when he sees my skin is fucking melting.
I lean on him, feeling feverish as the room fills with ANBU and company.
I meet kakashis ANBU mask again, and he watches Genma take me out of the room as his men get to work with dealing with my mess.
………………………………………………………………………….
I was lucky and antidote was made, to stop the rotting. My hand was still fucked, would be fucked for a while.
I was laying in a hospital bed, staring out the window boredly. The nurses wouldn’t allow me to work, telling me to rest, yet forgot that they are the one who prescribe me pills to make me sleep, my insomnia legendary. They, of course, can’t give me the pills while I’m hooked up apparently.
I sit up when Inoichi and Ibiki walk into the room, and I look towards both of them, “well?”
“I did a little digging into our friends mind, turns out Rain is not working with the people who created the poison…they wanted to use it for themselves, so no lead on the creator.” Inoichi spoke, and I huff.
“Go figures.”
Ibiki chuckled, walking over to ruffle my hair, “aye, look at you. ‘Not a field ninja’ my ass, you killed a guy with a pencil!”
“He was already dying.” I point out and he shushes me, chuckling giddily.
“To think, all these years I thought you were a prissy little prin-”
“Thank you Ibiki, you are dismissed.” Inoichi spoke, and sighed softly with Ibiki nodded and left the room.
Inoichi walked over to me, sitting on the edge of the bed, “…you feel fine?”
I lift my bandaged hand, flexing it.
“I’ll be fine…Hashiramas genes and shit…I heal fast.”
He chuckles, and drags his hand down his face with a sigh, “…you scared us today…that boy too.”
“Genma? He tends to get over-”
“Huh? No, no. The Hatake boy, he was going nuts trying to get that door opened that he eventually used his Chidori to break in.”
My eyes widen…Kakashi was going crazy…cause I was trapped inside the room?
“…really?”
“Yeah, never seen someone freak out so much. Funny.” He huffed again, smoothing his blonde hair back before standing. He placed a hand on my shoulder, giving it a squeeze, “rest, I’ll take care of this. You did a good job.”
I smile softly up at him, and he walks out, closing the door softly behind him.
I settle back into my bed, closing my eyes. Kakashi was worried about me…
I turn over, and my eyes widen briefly.
On my windowsill was my note book, and a takeout bag from ichiraku. I stood up from the bed, and my cheeks warmed as I took the things off the sill.
“Kakashi…”
