Keep seeing people confused by Agatha letting the world believe she traded her son instead of telling the truth, but…kinda tracks, tbh. Not for the rational mind, of course. Not if you’re looking at it clearly.
Which Agatha isn’t.
She did the worst thing, in her mind. She fell asleep. She fell asleep, knowing Death had bookmarked her son for later, and when she woke, found him snatched out from under her. She failed him as his mother. She let go. And all the power in all the world wouldn’t be enough to bring him back.
So does the wildly grieving woman who has just lost her only child (to presumably her greatest love, but that’s a city-sized suitcase for another day) let herself go through the process of coping with and adapting to that grief? Fuck no! What is she, common?? She goes on a power bender! Even though the kid she prized in her heart of hearts seemed less than into that very thing! Even though that kid may have been able, given enough time, to convince her to stop! So now, not only did she fail him, but she also opted to speed race down Murder Road! For power! That she still won’t ever be able to use to get him back!
It gets muddled, after decades and centuries of this feeling. It grows teeth. In a way, she did trade him for power. In a way, she’ll always have that sitting on her chest. Never mind that it’s not true. Never mind that she wasn’t a bad mother at all (in this respect, anyway). Never mind that he was sick, and this was always coming. For Agatha, who has been stewing on this story she’s been telling herself for centuries, it is what happened. She traded her son. She did the unforgivable. She fell asleep.
#agatha all along#agatha all along spoilers#agatha harkness#babes this is not a stable woman#we all know this. she’s on a ride no one else can afford a ticket to from the jump#how do you see yourself? as someone who couldn’t stand in the way of death. who can’t solve death.#how do you see yourself? as this all-powerful brilliant mind. this impeccable con woman. and what’s the heart of a good con?#a story#agatha harkness is so goddamn good at lying that she’s convinced herself#it’s the ultimate play on a mind that has been repressing her grief for centuries#of course it makes no sense to me. I didn’t lose a child.

i recognize that simon and edwin meeting and parting in hell is narratively very good and provides closure for all. but imagine if simon had agreed to try and escape with edwin. and charles doesn't have time to really question it, because anybody who likes edwin is aces in his book and it's hell, they need to leave. (edwin, out of courtesy to their third companion, puts his plan to confess on hold until they've escaped.)
suddenly the edwin harem of "supernatural boys who all hate each other but are attracted to that negative rizz" gains another member, and at some point edwin is going to have to mention that simon was the boy who sacrificed him to hell.
the chaos. crystal's bitchy commentary. charles going from friendly smiling to clutching his cricket bat. niko's whispering "200k slow burn schoolboy rivals to lovers" with heart eyes. it'd be chef's kiss good. edwin fleeing to his books and praying that nobody, but especially not the cat king, finds him because there has been SO MUCH emotion already. hysterical.
#dead boy detectives#edwin's milkshake brings all the boys to the yard#and he's like 'this is incredibly inconvenient. we must be getting on with our investigations'#charles: is there a convenient sea monster around? that solves all my unwanted guest problems#jenny: nobody expects me to be a queer role model to them right?#jenny: because fuck you all if so#niko: i have so much manga that can do that for you#jenny: ... you know what? it's fine. i'll do it#jenny: first things first#jenny: do NOT treat niko's manga as a how to be gay guide#jenny: do NOT let her matchmake#jenny: and do NOT think that means it's fair game to be a bitchy old queen at her#edwin in the background: i would never! niko is a delight and a gift and i'm happy she's here#jenny: because unlike you free-loading fucks niko pays rent on time and in acceptable currency#simon: why are all the cats glaring at me?#crystal: i need popcorn for this#night nurse: [full scottish outrage] why are the lost children multiplying? i sent you to hell not a bloody football pitch

Battle sprites and extra content from my Dungeon Meshi RPG battle post!
#dungeon meshi#game dev diary#laios touden#marcille donato#chilchuck tims#senshi#The original concept was going to be: Laios attacks -> Marcille special attacks -> cut in animation plays -> enemy defeated#So the doodle battle portraits were more of a hidden bonus and a way to visually confirm the other temporary states worked.#Unfortunately: once a state activates it wont revert! So if a character attacks they are stuck in that portrait until the battle ends#Same with getting hit...At least the K.O portrait works as intended. But I am far too ambitious. I have a vision.#Should we solve this problem I will be back with the full video as intended!#before anyone asks “why are the backgrounds alternating colours? Wouldn't it look better if it was all the same for each state?”#If I don't make it easy for me to know were the invisible boarders for the spritesheet are- my sanity would plummet#My fragile and weak widdle sanity...pwease I nweed my widdle shweads of sanity to stay in tact...#I can only heal my poor widdle sanity by drawing mushrooms with BIG asses and Dungeon Meshi Fanart.

Yes, Ren genuinely thinks cramming his wolf ears under that hat will distract people from his sharp canines, his tendency to tell Zedaph what to do, and his bad habit of barking at moving objects.
Yes, Doc genuinely thinks hanging an old rag over his face and wearing those ancient spectacles with no lenses will help distract people from... well, everything.
Yes, they're both delusional.
#hermitcraft#my art#rendog#docm77#I'm having fun with this lil cowboy au if you couldn't tell#I just love drawing these block men in the most random outfits. It's practically all I do on this blog#Convenient strip of cloth covering the sides of Ren's head because I STILL don't know how to address his lack of human ears in a way I like#I've been drawing this man for four years. A list of potential cures for the Calling, that we know about, that BioWare has apparently forgotten
Andraste's grace: it's not specified whether the flower the kennelmaster has you pick in the Korcari Wilds is Andraste's grace or if the game just needed a one-off asset and decided to reuse one they already had. However, in the dark future in DAI, Leliana is found to have unusual tolerance for the taint, and in DAO she talks about her mother pressing her laundry with dried Andraste's grace flowers, so it makes you wonder. Anyway, the flower stops Barkspawn becoming a ghoul and seems to make them immune to the taint from that point on.
Maric's longsword: he finds it in the Deep Roads and is suprised it isn't covered in the same Blight-rot as everything else - until, that is, he touches the sword to a patch of it and sees it wither away. Whether it's the dragonbone the sword is made of or the runes on the blade is difficult to say, though if it was just the dragonbone then it would make sense for that to be a more well-known property of the material (and would have been an interesting reason for why dragons were hunted to extinction). If Alistair carries it with him, doesit slow the progession of the taint through his body? Does he know its effects, and give it to the HoF to help keep them safer on their journey to find a permanent cure?
That obsidian dagger Duncan finds in The Calling: the dagger belonged to First Enchanter Remille - who also gave the expedition members brooches that accelerated the spread of the taint. iirc the both the dagger and the brooches are made by the Architect with Blight magic, which means the darkspawn magisters have more knowledge of how the Blight works than the Chantry attributes to them.
Whatever the fuck is going on with Avernus: he hasn't managed to cure himself yet, but he's managed to make it to 200 and the Warden can let him continue his experiments if they don't kill him - and he'd be a really useful resource if the Warden later wanted to send him other potential cures for testing.
Dragons: they have an ability to isolate the Blight in their bodies by forming crystaline cysts around the initial infection to stop it spreading. Useful if it can be more widely applied. Also, it's implied that Maric's reaver blood, which Calenhad gained by mixing his blood with a dragon's, is what somehow cured Fiona of the taint, kinda like a reverse STI, BUT in the Deep Roads they went through an area where the walls were coated in a pale, chalky substance suspiciously devoid of Blight-rot and she touched it, so I'm a bit suspicious of that.
Blood magic: makes sense since the taint is a problem that starts with infected blood. There are two major instances in DA canon where blood magic has been used to purge the taint from an object or being (both by elves btw). The first is Isseya using it to draw the taint out of a clutch of unhatched griffon eggs, which she says is only possible because the taint hasn't yet taken over the hatchlings' bodies to the same extent that it had with the adult griffons. The second instance is Merrill purging the Blighted eluvian in DA2. It's insane that Anders - who is a reluctant Warden and who possibly knows the HoF seeks a cure - isn't more excited about this. She literally removed the Blight from a fully tainted object. Since Isseya proved the same can be done with living tissue, it's probably the closest we've come to an actual cure, but since it also took years there's no telling if it could be a practicaly solution for all Wardens
#dragon age#dragon age meta#da meta#i know HOF is looking for a cure 'deep in the west' but really#we all know that was just to get them out of the way so DAI's problems weren't solved in the first five minutes#grey wardens#hero of ferelden

post-trimax vash meets stampede wolfwood
[ID: Black and white comic of Vash and Wolfwood of their Stampede versions. The comic starts with Wolfwood continuing off a conversation, saying “I didn’t mean t’say anythin’ bad to her. She just took it the wrong way. But anyway...” Wolfwood speaks with a hand gestured flippantly while Vash, who’s seated next to him, just listens. Vash thinks to himself, “Talks more about himself... Honest expressions... Immature, though he was pretty immature too.” He smiles and continues to think, “And yet...”
A panel of Vash’s eye directed now to the sky. He thinks, “Some things are bound to be the same with us...” He thinks of a memory, the version from Maximum of him and Wolfwood, back shown as they chatted underneath two moons, one moon with a hole through it. Vash continues, “Isn’t that right, W-“ His thoughts are interrupted by Wolfwood coming into a view, a close up his deadpan expression. Vash utters out “-olfwood..?” with a nervous expression. He starts to explain, “Um. Sorry if it seemed like I wasn’t listening, I was! So, let’s keep talking?”
Vash smiles and puts his hands together as he says, “okay?” Wolfwood glares at him with gritted teeth and Vash immediately remembers, “Right, he’s more short-tempered...” He continues to think, “Maybe Plan B works with him—“ before he’s grabbed by his coat collar aggressively and changes thoughts, “OK, never mind, brace for impact..!” But he’s surprised when he’s tugged instead, him and Wolfwood flops against the ground. Wolfwood puts an arm over Vash and says, “I don’t need to be entertained, blondie. If yer tired, we can go to sleep.”
Two close up panels of Wolfwood and Vash’s eyes looking at each other, Wolfwood taking off Vash’s glasses as he says, “Am I wrong?” Vash thinks to himself, “Actually... I was being genuine when I said I wanted to keep talking. I don’t feel tired at all. But, I think you know this body more than I do.”
Vash’s thoughts continue, “I can’t deny the me you’re fond of from being taken care of. And I could never deny your kindness. Even though...” Vash finally smiles and says, “You’re not wrong...” Wolfwood smiles back before tugging Vash closer and says, “Then, let’s sleep.” Vash asks, “Should we get a blanket?” Wolfwood asks, “Why?” before kissing Vash on the cheek, “I’ll keep you warm.” Vash puts his face into both his hands and flushes. Wolfwood smiles cheekily and asks, “What?” Vash responds, “I was caught off guard..” Wolfwood says, “You’ve said worse though.” Vash responds, “Did I...” The panel phases out and the dialogue returns to Vash’s thoughts. He thinks, “I want to stay a bit longer. Talk a bit longer.
You’re tired here too. The future is always going to be unfair to you. I want to protect you from it. I want to hold you close so you won’t go far.” The thoughts overlap the scene of Wolfwood now sleeping peacefully against Vash with an arm over him, Vash’s jacket draped against him as a blanket. Vash looks at him and a small thought bubble thinks, “He can fall asleep first...” His previous thoughts continue, “I know I can’t. I already had that chance.” A close up of Vash putting his hand over Wolfwood’s. He continues, “I wasn’t capable once, I can’t be sure I’d be capable a second time. And in a way...”
Vash’s thoughts continue with the back drop of the sky, Stampede’s sky of two moons without holes, “Some things are bound to be the same. But I know you’ll be loved again and again in a way I’d never know.” A split panel, one half contains the sleeping face of Wolfwood from Stampede, the other of Wolfwood from Trimax. In turn, the Vash lying down looking fondly at Wolfwood shifts to the post Trimax Vash while the other versions, Stampede and earlier Trimax, are faintly drawn next to him doing the same. Vash closes his eyes and finally drifts to sleep as the final text reads, “Goodnight, Wolfwood.”
#vashwood#vash the stampede#nicholas d wolfwood#trigun stampede#trigun maximum#trimax spoilers#was thinking damn havent done the crossovers in awhile. doodled a bunch of fluff crossover stuff and somehow#this is the one i finish dmgkg in the same vein ive been thinking a lot about the time loop au which#i also like but one thing about it that always made me wonder is vash's interference and his willingness to interfere#not to say he's a believer of fate or anything -- im a firm believer that if vash had a chance to do it again knowing what he knew he'd#obviously do things differently -- but not in the i'll solve everything for you way but in the#let's spend less time arguing and be#happier while we still got the time to#trigun universe is always going to be brutal to the both of them <pensive> but anyway to be a little kinder to him i just#let him swap for a day or so with stampede vash... maybe granted the chance to stay but vash would never do that to Himself. and#in the end thats not the wolfwood he knew. no miguel o'hara-ing this#also he nor us know if stamp ww would go thru the same fate :']!#ruporas art#trigun

Maybe it's a 'study finds water is wet' type of thought, but
considering it's an action movie whose overall plot is "immortal warriors Fuck Shit Up™️", I think it's significant that in The Old Guard the thing that makes Copley pull red strings through his Murder Conspiracy Board and say "[Merrick] doesn't care what [Andy]'s done with [her immortality]" is the people they save, not the ones they kill
Most of the Conspiracy Board is him circling random newspaper headlines and faces on old photographs to (more or less realistically) follow the immortals' treck through the world and big historical events. Which is, in-canon, not much different than putting portraits from different centuries next to a picture of Keanu Reeves and saying "they look the same, clearly Reeves is an immortal!"
But then there are the connections. A little girl holding Joe's hand in WW1 becoming the youngest (and first) woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Medicine (suck it, Kozak). Or the grandchild of a family that Andy saved from [something] helping people escape from the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.
They are warriors. They have fought and been in the midst of countless wars, major or minor, throughout history. They must have killed as many people as they saved... and yet.
It's not them taking out a random warlord or dictator or rabidly hateful politician that has tangible repercussions in history. It's the children and families they get out of war zones, save from accidents, protect from natural disasters. People to whom they give a second chance at life, and grow to change the world (or even just their own world), like a mysterious stranger once changed theirs just by holding out a hand or patching a wound.
I don't know I just think it's particularly neat
#my ponderings#the old guard#I know we all love to play the 'if you could go back in time and kill One Person who would it be' game#but I think a movie that makes it EXTREMELY SATISFYING to see the Bad Guys die -#- having 'actually the best and greatest changes happen when people help each other' as its underlying message...#it means something#I also think it connects to Andy feeling like nothing she does changes anything at the start of the movie#for 80% of her life you could Solve A Problem by Taking Out The Guy Causing The Problem#especially in battle! you kill the general and you win. if you win the Problem Is Solved#but then everything becomes More Complex. the Problems™️ are globalized and/or systemic.#and Winning a Battle means just killing people. it doesn't Stop The Problem (nor really end a war)#so it feels useless#and even when they save people... they can’t stay in people's lives for long because immortality#which means they can never know what happens to the people they save#they don't (and can't) have the full picture

god i really feel like the mcrp fandom and the wrestling fandom are cousins. we should hold hands. we both have to deal with people not quite understanding the idea of keyfabe ("don't you know wrestling is FAKE?"/"they're using their real names so clearly it's all the real youtubers"), with ao3 tagging nightmares (did you know the wrestling fandom still has the rpf tag problem the mcrp fandom had for years because apparently ao3 doesn't understand keyfabe either?), with people who don't understand keyfabe but from the other side (yes it's not real but i should still harass the player/wrestler about it right?), with complicated plots with goofy characters, with outsiders being dead convinced that the people inside are writing rpf, even if we explain it's not real... i'm just saying. we're cousins. buddies. we should hold hands. we should understand each other. that's all i'm saying,
#note that i like. don't watch much wrestling#it's one of those things i constantly WANT to get into but it's intimidatingly huge so i don't know where to start#but like. i know enough to say we're buddies and also i keep on using wrestling terms like keyfabe to try to explain mcrp so#shaking your hand. i understand you.#anyway i feel like so much discourse could at least PARTIALLY be solved if we sat the discoursers down and expained the concept#in wrestling storyline terms#like. gently take their shoulders. have you heard of a 'heel'.

[RHETORIC - Legendary 14]: Convince Kim you are in a timeloop.
(ISAT side of the swap)
#disco elysium#harry du bois#kim kitsuragi#ISAT#in stars and time#If you put HDB in a timeloop I truly think he would spend the his time trying to convince Kim he was in one.#The extra funny bit here is how counter it is to the *main plot of ISAT (*I HAVENT FINSHED. JUST STARTED ACT 4)#In which Siffrin is so strongly against letting anyone know they are trapped in a timeloop.#HDB would be doing everything in his power to try and get people to believe him.#and just like with the amnesia talk - Kim would pull the 'Detective we have a case to solve. Can we get back to work?' card.#How long would HDB last in a timeloop? If we make this loop the week that the case is...maybe a dozen loops?#He has the mystical detective angle on his side so I think he would stumble into the solution eventually.#Now. Odile could figure out someone is in a timeloop. I think It would take a *lot* for Kim to believe.#Anyways. [clicks on my powerpoint presentation that reads “Why Madame Odile could solve the deathnote case”]

i still think a lot about how technically, it's implied Anubis and Walt started dating each other before they asked out Sadie, and if Sadie had said she wasn't interested they would have gone "Entirely fair have a nice day" and proceed to just go continue to date each other.
Cause like, that was the entire thing. They decided that themselves. That things would work best if they were together (as in both physically sharing a body and also relationship-wise). The "asking Sadie about it" part was secondary. If she had said no, they would have stayed together, because among other things Walt would kind of die if they didn't. Walt and Anubis are technically the first gay couple in the Riordanverse. AND they're in a polyamorous relationship with Sadie. Why does no one talk about them ever.
#tkc#the kane chronicles#riordanverse#walt stone#anubis tkc#sadie kane#saltnubis#< great ship name btw#and for anyone who says ''i dont think Rick intended that'' mind you this book was released like#six months before HoH came out (and. subsequently also. Nico.)#like. Rick was not ignorant of queer stuff at that time. he was actively writing it into HoO/HoH while writing both simultaneously#if Sadie had said no they wouldn't have just gone ''okay Sadie pick one of us and the other will cease to exist on the mortal plane''#they would have gone ''okay well good luck we have a coffee date scheduled so we're gonna go do that''#saltnubis is still probably the most entertaining solution to a love triangle in middle grade media i have ever encountered#even some YA media. just ''yeah so we solved both our major problems by dating but like. we know you like both of us sooooo...?''#also hilarious that meanwhile Carter's romance arc is ''so turns out my first girlfriend was a clone made of pottery''#''and the actual girl has never met me and this is kinda awkward''

The most moderate, nuanced and productive people I have discussed the Israel-Hamas war with have been Jews, Israelis, and people with Palestinian family. Everyone directly affected by this just wants it to stop and to have peace and safety in the region in a way that minimises the casualty count.
The most extreme and performative and vile things I've been told are by people who have no connection to this and like to think they are experts because they have covered adjacent topics during learning, or read stuff online.
If all the randos in the west would just shut up for ten minutes and let those of us actually affected, with an understanding of the history of the land and the culture and the generational trauma experienced by Jews and Palestinians alike talk, we might actually have a chance to salvage this and stop it spiraling
#jumblr#antisemitism#i/p#nuance is something so easy to have and yet people choose not to#we are measured and non extreme because we dont have the privilege to be angry.#someone literally said that they wont ensge further with me because the topic makes me emotional#jews get called genocidal#palestinans get called Antisemitic#how about the rest of you shut the fuck up and let the adults talk#maybe youll learn how to problem solve and not be a bigot if you listen to those you so desperately want to hate#its pathetic#we all know hamas doesnt represent all Palestinians#we also know hamas teaches Antisemitism in schools in gaza and the west bank#these two things can and should co-exist in your head#that doesnt meam all palestinians are rabid jew hating murderers#it means the situation is complicated and not black and white and will take more than just screaming for a ceasefire to actually solve#we are not a football for your performative activism
