hey hi im having swirling and spinning luxubar thoughts again. let's look at these lines.

i imagine he phrases it this way because it's a casual, laid-back way of expressing this idea. "more recently, i go by the name Xigbar, but you can call me Luxu if you want, I don't care either way." (and the fact that he doesn't have a strong preference about the name he's called still says something about his relationship to his own identity, i think!)

but absolutely i feel this can be interpreted on a deeper level, too. the question is about who he is—about his identity in isolation—but the way he responds defines him relationally—"these days they call me Xigbar, but hey, whatever suits you." a sense of identity that is fluid, dependent on who he serves, on what role he plays.

a sense of identity made even more tragic by the fact that, no, Xigbar isn't his real name, and neither was Braig, but neither is Luxu.

even the name Luxu, considered his "true identity", was bestowed on him by his master. every identity we have ever known for Xigbar, every name he's ever had, has been a name he assumed in pursuit of someone else's goal. Braig and Bragi were names he acquired from his vessels. Luxu and even Xigbar were names he was given by his superiors. he has only ever been defined in relation to someone else, by someone else's past or someone else's ambitions.

Hey hey! Here it is, the 'kinky husbands' fic! This is really about Buck helping Tommy work through some issues. Other than a mention of an emotionally abusive ex of Tommy's, this is so so fluffy and smutty. lol. I really hope you guys like it. This is a sequel to 'see you in my fireflies' but you could probably read it as a stand-alone.

Last piece for the year. This is also my last drawing for my fic, which I'll start to release on the 3rd of January.

Under the cut is an excerpt of the last chapter, but it's basically part of my take on the final (external)battle between Ventus and Vanitas, so no real spoilers for the fic, other than... it happens, I guess?

Ventus made a sudden charge towards Vanitas, a bolt of weak thunder being a hopeful distraction that Vanitas did not take. Their Keyblades clashed and locked, teeth grinding against one another in a screech of wild animals looking upon death.

They freed themselves from that futile attempt, and this time, Ventus was just a hair quicker, the point of his Keyblade smashing into Vanitas’ helmet, the glass cracking and breaking, spilling shards to the ground, along with a short spurt of blood.

Vanitas stopped and took a step back, hand mid-grasp in an eagle-like talon towards his now exposed eye.

It was a deep crimson, contorted with anger, disgust and hatred making their mark as well. Something else to lay beyond, but Ventus had little time to dissect.

This shock only briefly stopped their fight, as they then continued, energy lessened but their battle still fueled with desperate emotions.

Ventus managed to shove Vanitas, Keyblade tip near his throat, a threatening dagger. It nearly toppled him off balance. There was hope he would have fallen, but Vanitas stayed firm, and Ventus took a second to think of another tactic; noticing Vanitas had become less aggressive in his attacks, his stance crumbling and the entire upper-half of his body shaking with drained effort.

Before Ventus could launch another attack, Vanitas stumbled and half-collapsed, shaking steps scraping the hard ground as he struggled to remain standing.

His Keyblade kept in-hand: a refusal of defeat.

“You’ve done it, Ventus…” Vanitas gasped, air gulped with each breath. Dark wisps shredded from him in fine webs, leeching away.

Ventus kept wary, a short glance to Aqua still finding her unconscious. He would be ready if Vanitas was merely bluffing his weakened state.

He felt himself brace and jitter as Vanitas rose again, this time, slowly and staggered. More pieces of his helmet cracked away, until it all came away in a scab-like slough, leaving a sharp-toothed maw around Vanitas’ now visible face.

Sometimes I think about the rare times I would write OCs back in the 2001-2010 fandom days and the whole "Mary Sue callout" thing was so big so you had to make your OC just like... so boring and ordinary and the canon characters must find them unimportant and never ever let them be a love interest, and even then, people would probably still criticize you making an OC at all.

now I'm like YES my reader OC would catch the eye of this important character who would obsess over her and kill for her because he thinks she's the most sublime being in the world and he'll steal her away to keep her forever <3333

what are your top 3 or 5 favorite naruto x sasuke fanfics? i'd love to get some recommendations!! i've been looking for something new to read but i feel like i always end up re-reading kizuna hikari lol

Rereading Kizuna Hikari is actually the realest thing I've ever heard. Matter of fact, I'm rereading it right now. For the twentieth time. So I totally get it.

Now, I'll be honest that in terms of characterization, no fics do it like the kizunaverse. None. At the very least, I haven't read a single one with such a staggeringly good grasp on every single character, it's insane.

I'd accuse @sasubaeuchithot of secretly being Kishimoto, but I fear that even he wouldn't be as consistently flawless in sasuke and naruto's portrayal, considering how botched the ending and sequel were. (top kh glazer check)

But enough. Let's see.

Every single fic by @kinomiakai is a certified banger. I find their characterization magnificent as well, their modern AUs are unparalleleddddd.

The way they write Sasuke and Naruto is totally believable, even though they obviously aren't 100% in character, which is normal; characters will always be different in AUs, they have lived considerably different lives.

Their only fic that I haven't read is a current WIP, "Two is a Crowd", which is canon-divergent.

Personally waiting for it to be completed, because I've started wayyy too many WIPs and my heart won't take another one.

"Heaven is a place on earth with you" by zephyrous (amorphia) was a lovely two-shot from Sakura's POV, watching sns through the years. I'm personally a sucker for such fics and I remember this one hit the spot.

Check out "i like his eyes", "i hope the encore lasts forever" and "here's to us (here's to love)" by moviekidd826, they were beyond lovely!

"The sun is too bright, it hurts." by waywardfacegarden, can't recommend it enough, I was obsessed when I first read it. I'm a sucker for fics like that.

Lastly, "Lost and Found" by MadeNew is a fic I had read in one sitting. Check out some of their other fics as well, they have quite a few!

I haven't read sns in quite some time, even though they occupy at least 20% of my brain, so I'm probably not the best person to ask for recommendations.

These are only a few of the fics I've bookmarked, but it's been so long since I've read most of them! I remember loving these fics endlessly, which I can't so safely say for my other sns bookmarks.

A lot of rereads are due, I suppose!

Hope you read these and love them like I have, I'd love to know your thoughts on them if you wouldn't mind that sort of thing!

ok like i get riku’s hand is bent back a bit more than sora’s so the perspective makes his hand look smaller HOWEVER i still think sora’s hands are slightly bigger than riku’s and i love that so much
