sorry in advance for the ramble BUT i have sm to say !! i needed to read this twice because it was so captivating the first time, all i could do was soak it all in. my heart went through every emotion possible reading this !! at times i had to put my phone down and just feel it all as you guide us through this beautiful story !!
having someone like mirio to navigate grief with seems sooo so ideal. two people who have been left a little fractured by the departure of a man that his dying wish was for them to become closer. not only would mirio be able to feel your pain of a loss of a man who is more than a hero, who was stunningly human â but also for him to elevate you and remind you that thereâs light in the world is such a gift. the fact that itâs not even something new heâs doing, itâs stuff he had been doing since you had met him and it makes me fall in love with mirio that much more !!!
â¸(ď˝ĄË áľ Ë )⸠some of my fave parts :
âNow you are twelve weeks past his death and facing down a lifetime of uncertainty in a house that feels too large for you but too small for your pain.â
ooof . this was so profound and i resonate with this so well T^T i absolutely loved this line . the way you portray grief is so well done â how it brings a plethora of mixed emotions and confusion on how to move forward when youâve never felt so stuck in one place in your life !!
ââI know that sounds callous and it probably is the wrong thing to say but your life isnât over just because he isnât here to watch you live it.ââ
i read this over and over and over again. i feel like i need this written on the walls of my brain LOL itâs so true though, grief makes everything feel like itâs stopping but itâs just a veil, the world keeps turning and the days keep coming no matter what. but itâs so hard to appreciate that when youâre wrapped up in guilt. BUT THIS LINE !! itâs such a good thing to say to someone (to me at least lmfaooo) because it just plucks you out from the hole of grief and into a new mindset that gives you a glimmer of hope & can help you cope. absolutely beautiful, kendall !!
âSome days the memory of him cuts through you like a knife, especially the last year of your life with him spent doing a lot more caretaking than youâd done the prior four, and other days itâs a gentle breeze. A whisper and reminder that heâs watching you, he loves you, heâs proud of you.â
sob. a perfect description on how it feels fr. you can go days with feeling okay about it all but wake up the next morning and suddenly all the pain is back, as strong as ever. i love love love the way you portray it here, itâs so raw and real.
amazing amazing amazing !!! á°

âIâm dying.â
Mirio Togata nearly chokes mid-swallow, pressing the back of his hand to his mouth to prevent droplets of tea from seeping out of his lips. Itâs a rare Wednesday day off for Lemillion and sunlight pours into the expansive room used as an office at. Heâs a guest in the home of one of the most prolific heroes of all time, as he often is, though today he was invited by the man himself instead of showing up to pop in and say hello.
All Might, Toshinori Yagi, is dying.
Technically he has been for years though hearing it from the manâs own mouth feels different than the vague conversations about âterminalâ and âincompatible organsâ.Â
âNo,â the younger man starts but Toshinori raises a hand to stop him, shaking his head with a chuckle.
Itâs no secret he has been rapidly looking more and more frail as autumn faded into winter which is now melting into the bright green of spring.
âItâs true. No matter how many times you tell me âyou can get betterâ or âmedical technology is improvingâ it will not change the fact that my time has a finite number on it.â
There has been a finite amount of his life remaining for a very long time, heâs simply managed to dodge it for as long as possible. Running away from the truth is no longer an option, the years he has been given since the War and its finish already leaving the man feeling like a perpetual cheat. He was supposed to die then, and then after that, and then again and again and againâŚ
There are no more ducks and dodges left in him.Â
âMidoriya knows and has accepted it. Itâs time for you to do the same.â
The words would be harsh coming from anyone other than a beloved mentor turned friend though Yagi has always had the natural ability to soften blows when necessary. Mirio nods, blue eyes trained toward the ground and refusing to meet those of the man in the comfortable chair next to him. He dares to take a peek at the man who will forever be known as All Might, the thinness of his hands and arms and wrists alone a surprising sight. Time has run out. No medical science or quirk or act of God can reverse the inevitable. A transplant cannot save him, medicine will not save him, and heâs made the decision to be as comfortable as possible over the remaining weeks to months he has left.Â
Togataâs mind unconsciously drifts to you in all of this. You are the young woman who has devoted the latter half of her twenties to taking care of this iconic man, tending to his illnesses and the complications from them with a smile and a joke, a reassuring hand on his shoulder and a kiss on his forehead. The younger of the pair has witnessed this kindness himself on more than one occasion and he remembers when you were simply a Support course student at UA high school a year younger than Mirio himself. You assisted with equipment in the war and it has followed you through your adulthood, your support item safety consulting business thriving and helping build a safer world.
The way you care about everyone is so admirable, itâs difficult not to view you as a hero in all of this. Mirio raises a brow and balls his hands together into a fist, letting it rest in his lap.Â
âHow does she feel about, well, everything?â
Itâs a daring question to ask given the older man is well aware of the younger manâs affection toward you no matter how discreet he thinks he is about it. Itâs the perpetual elephant in the room. Toshinori sighs, shifting in his chair and positioning his hands in his lap. Mirioâs eyes dart from them and toward the older manâs sallow face, noting the hint of a smile at the mention of you.Â
âShe was the first person to know. Itâs the least I could give her for wasting her youth on a sorry old man like me.â
Togata offers a tight smile and tilts his head to the side. The self deprecation isnât anything new, it has been like this the last several years, though it never sits well when the man he has attempted to pattern his own morals over says something so blasphemous about himself.Â
âThatâs a pretty downer way to look at things, All Might.â
This gets a chuckle from the older man, the sound of his head shaking against the back of his chair causing the younger one to look up at him curiously.Â
âItâs a pretty downer thing to die but telling you itâs coming isnât the only reason I asked you here today.â
The older man clears his throat, wiping his thumb against his bottom lip and looking away, joining his hand in his lap. How can he properly phrase what heâs asking his young friend to do without it seeming sordid and disrespectful? Heâs leaving you his legacy when he goes. His home, his royalties that will keep you well taken care of for the rest of your life and, well, heâs planning on leaving Mirio Togata the one gift he deserves the most - you.Â
He simply lays the plot down, hands still folded in his lap.
âHow long have you loved her, kid?â
Mirio feigns shock that his mentor, the one who came after the one he lost years ago, is onto him. He has always played off his affection for you as friendliness and lingering glances as simply curiosity and assumed he has been doing it well enough that nobody notices.
âItâs not like that.â
Toshinori laughs, a weak cough wracking his body and he raises his fist to his grinning mouth to cover it. Mirio leans forward in his seat, reaching for the man who waves him off and instead leans to grab the bottle of hand sanitizer on the desk next to him.Â
âYou are a grown man, Togata. Own up to it. Itâs not going to offend me.â
There was no expectation of a trip down memory lane set for the younger man prior to arriving for this visit yet his mind launches into years of fuzzy and undefined memories. Evenings heâd come to visit you in the Support course workshop when he was younger with fewer scars covering his arms and torso, the few times in your early twenties you sat thigh to thigh with him in dimly lit izakaya hanging out with your mutual group of friends and their respective partners who are also heroes. He remembers too much and too little at the same time, skin crawling.Â
Shifting in his seat, he unclasps his hands and claps them against his thighs.Â
âA long, long time.â He finally responds and Toshinori chuckles in response, leaning back in his own chair and sliding one of his hands out toward Mirio. âSince I was in high school.â
The truth doesnât hide forever. It makes him feel childish that he was so easily caught by the older man, replaying years of interactions in his head. Did he smile a little too wide at you? Glance a little too long? Pine a little too openly?
There is no way for him to change anything that has happened before now and the usually easy going man tensely lifts his head, meeting Toshinoriâs soft gaze. There is no anger even if these events crossed boundaries, something the man is infinitely grateful for, and he reaches across the desk to take his mentorâs offered hand.Â
âI know.â He weakly squeezes the younger manâs hand, his lack of strength more evident than ever. Mirio feels emotion welling up inside of him and blinks it back, taking a deep breath. âThatâs why I am asking you to give her the life I never could, Togata. Take her traveling when you can. Remind her that sheâs brilliant and will probably keep this country safer than any hero ever could. JustâŚbe there for her. For me.â
The request carries more weight than the older man could ever possibly understand. Itâs not merely a responsibility but a strange kind of bequeathing. No formal paperwork, no meetings with officials, just two men discussing a woman they both care about deeply and how to best assuage her in the sorrows to come.Â
It also brings another question to Mirioâs mind he has contemplated for many years - do you have lingering feelings for him too? A far younger version of you, magnetism quirk engaged and using it to make him laugh, certainly did. He assumed those feelings just vaporized over time and with responsibility, your heart belonged to another man before he could ever ask that it be his.
A noble man. A good man who you did not want to see live lonely, by himself in his ailing years. A man Togata spent his entire life trying to emulate.
Thereâs a flutter of hope through the sorrow of knowing the end is coming for his friend and the younger man is the one to squeeze the older mansâ this time, gentle firm pressure to ensure it doesnât hurt.
âI know itâs a big request. I donât blame you if it makes you uncomfortable or if youâd like to say no,â Toshinori adds quickly. âI simply know that she cares about you a lot and always has.â His voice cracks and he swallows his sadness, only grateful that his life has been so glorious the last few years thanks to your gentle touch and your silly stories and your tendency to ad-lib songs to make him smile. âShe deserves to be happy.â
The younger man couldnât agree more. He nods, emotion continuing to rise, breaking eye contact to gaze down at his lap to allow him a moment to compose himself. For his entire twenties, he regretted losing his chance with you despite his gratefulness for the care and love you gave Toshinori. Now, entering his thirties, he gets the opportunity to try again. To speak up when he should and to put the feelings he has harbored for more than a decade to good use.
âI will do everything I can to make sure she is, you have my word.â
Even if it means you want nothing to do with him and keep yourself away from everyone forever. Whatever makes you happy, Mirio Togata will make sure you have it.Â
âI only have weeks. Months if Iâm lucky but I donât think Iâm all that lucky anymore.â
The words make Mirio look up from his lap, brows furrowed. He didnât think there was so little time left but he is a man of action and nods.
âThen letâs make these next few weeks memorable. What do you need me to do?â
A chuckle from the older man as he finally drops the younger oneâs hand gently, tucking it back into his lap to join the other.
âFor now, just be around if you can make it work.â
That he can do and he does for three more weeks.
On a warm spring day, a little past the end of cherry blossom season, the world loses All Might.
âThe days I spent with you were the happiest of my life. Let me take care of you for the rest of yours. - Toshinoriâ
The note he left you, the one you were handed by some man in a suit youâd never met before in the days following his death, rests on your desk. It feels too soon to tuck away the increasingly wrinkled piece of paper and youâre far too grateful for the life he has put between your two palms to stop glancing at the note every few hours each day.
It doesnât answer any of the questions you have about what becomes of your life now though.
Emotion wells up in you again, a lump in your throat you have to swallow down to continue working, the results from your audit of the Dynamite agencyâs safety audit on the screen of the tablet in front of you. Theyâre generally highly rated, Bakugouâs fastidious tendencies seeping through even the smallest detail of safety and care of his employees, but you have to look away. You close the screen cover and slide the device aside, standing up from your spot at the kitchen table to walk into the living room.
The house feels like a mausoleum even if itâs now yours and yours only. Being alone for the first time in weeks leaves a strange taste in your mouth and you fold your arms over your chest, padding across the wooden floors to plop down on the overstuffed couch you picked out three years ago. Dekuâs wife spent a week by your side, the first seven days after the tremendous loss ensuring you ate and slept, sleeping in your bed with you and letting you cry on her shoulder. The day she went home hurt almost as badly as the day you lost the man himself, the encroaching loneliness feeling claustrophobic.
Thankfully, the second week was dotted with various visitors, your former classmates and long time friends of Toshinori paying their respects posthumously by being good to you in his departure. Dynamiteâs wife tended to you and forced you out of your house, inviting you over with the promise of visiting with her eager to see you children.Â
The third week was much of the same, even chatting with his old friend David and accepting condolences from other heroes former and current. Your refrigerator stayed full, your mailbox overstuffed with more cards than you could open wishing you well and thanking you for taking care of him.
The fourth fewer people came but you still stayed busy. The fifth, same. The sixth, seventh, and eighth all followed suit although the amount of visitors thinned. Ninth, tenth, eleventh your house became empty outside of your close friends and Mirio. Now you are twelve weeks past his death and facing down a lifetime of uncertainty in a house that feels too large for you but too small for your pain.
Your heart swells recalling the love youâve been given but it shrivels when you look around, wondering when it will start to feel full of life again; when you will.
Standing, you lumber over to the wall adjacent to where you sit, admiring the artwork and memories on the wall. There are photos of a freckle-faced teenager who became a freckle-faced man with his wife and children alongside Toshinori. Photos of Mirio grinning and giving a thumbs up in a vintage American All Might t-shirt that was almost too small for him. Photos of you and Toshinori smiling side by side when he was still well enough to attend the occasional event, you in glittering floor length sequins and him in a custom suit built to accommodate his ever weakening body.Â
Sighing, you reach out and brush your thumb along the frame. The photo doesnât move, anchored into the wall, and you know that all of the care you gave him wasnât wasted for a moment. He truly made your life better and you believe you did the same for him, though your eyes flit back to the photo of Mirio for a moment.Â
You took the picture a few years back while cleaning out the spare bedroom used solely for merchandise and collectables Toshinori had been given over the years. You accosted the younger blonde for pulling a shirt that was clearly too small for him over his head but snapped the photo anyway, grinning behind your phone at his silly posing.Â
Mirio.Â
He has been here for you almost as much as your closest friends, popping by daily if able with food or stories or justâŚsunshine, which is exactly what he is and always has been for the time youâve known him. Even when the two of you were back in high school he knew your favorite candy and delivered it to your desk daily while spending his evenings sticking paper clips to your arm or the side of your face while your quirk was engaged.
Reaching into your pocket, you grab out your phone and dial his number. He answers before the first ring can even finish its trill.
âHey-o, what are you doing?â
You giggle at his greeting though he hears the strain in your voice that indicates you are feeling down. He tucks his phone between his shoulder and ear, pulling his sweatpants on in the changing room of the agency, ready to head home.Â
âNothing. I tried to work a little bit today and couldnât focus. Iâm sure Bakugou will bitch at me but his audit will simply have to wait another week.â
The man on the other end of the phone chuckles, rising to his full impressive stature and heading toward the exit.
âDo you need a distraction? I could come over.â
The offer is appreciated but you wrestle with how to respond to it. What you assumed were long forgotten feelings for Mirio surface every time you are around him and in your grief and confusion, you struggle to separate them from reality and whatâs a balm to make you feel temporarily better. Would seeing him now, only three months removed from losing Toshinori, be appropriate? Is it whatâs best?
âYou donât have to, Iâm sure it was a long day.â
Togata scoffs, using his coded keycard to exit the building. The sun is still somewhat up, a hot summer evening encroaching and he does not want to go home when he could be spending time with you. The day exhausted him a bit, lots of petty crime picks up during the summertime, but heâs never too tired for you.
âActually, this was the easiest shift Iâve had in a long time.â Heâs lying and you can tell by the lilt in his voice, a particular tone he takes when heâs pretending everything is fine youâve heard before but you are in no condition to press the issue. âI can pick you up in about thirty minutes and we can just drive if you want?â
You shake your head although he canât see it. Part of you wants to say no, to rebuff your own feelings once and for all, but youâre weak and hurting and needy.Â
âWe donât have to go anywhere, we can just stay here if you want to come.â
And come he does, in that promised thirty minutes. He doesnât bother to knock on the door anymore, punching in the code and announcing himself with a boisterous smile, then plopping down on the couch next to you.
It feels a lot more like coming home than it reasonably should but every time he feels guilty for envisioning his place in his life, next to you, he remembers the promise he made. He will make you happy no matter what that looks like.
Time passes so quickly when heâs around and itâs welcome to have something besides your own loneliness to listen to while he explains one of his heroic saves of the day, enthusiastically explaining phasing through a tree to capture a runaway attempted bank robber.
âSo I caught the guy and somehow managed to save all the money too, which is crazy when you think about it. I thought the wind would carry half of it off but not today.â
You smile at him fondly, eyes crinkling at the corners, but he can tell something else is on your mind. Repositioning himself on the couch, he turns toward you and props his head up with his fist.
âWanna talk about it?â
He has always been able to tell when something is bothering you and your brain screams that you should say no. You should turn down all of Mirioâs kindness and lock yourself inside of this home with your grief forever, a timeless pseudo-widow trapped in a prison of her own making.
But the warmth of his gaze encourages you so much, words bubble out of you before you can stop them, your hands instantly flying to your face to be pressed against your cheeks.
âDespite what people have said, I loved him.âÂ
Mirioâs face falls into a concerned frown when he notices your eyes welling up, your glance firmly trained on his face. The papers were pretty harsh to you when the news of his death and your subsequent appointing the heir to his agency, legacy, and image were announced. Opportunistic seemed to be the mediaâs favorite term, honing in on the age and vitality difference between the two of you rather than the fact a fairly selfless young woman took care of him not knowing any of this was in her future.
You never took care of him in hopes of getting anything, only out of compassion for a man who has made the lives of others so much brighter. Who heals the healer? You took it upon yourself to be the one and you do not regret a moment of it, sitting cross legged at twenty-nine with a sense of pride despite it all.
âMaybe not in a conventional way. I never had,â your face falls a little, as though youâre fearful of reaction toward what youâre about to say. âYou knowâŚsex or anything with him. We kissed a few times, we held hands on occasion but my days and nights revolved around him for five years.â
Your voice breaks and immediately you push your thumbs against your eyes to keep yourself from crying where someone else can see it although the sniffling gives you away, sharp little inhalations through your nose.Â
âWhat do I do now?â
The question appears to be rhetorical though he feels compelled to answer, wrapping a reassuring arm around your shoulders and gently pulling you against his side. The lack of personal space between the two of you is honestly nothing new, certainly more so since Toshinoriâs departure, and you settle into the warmth of him. Itâs a comfort you need desperately, his fingers drumming a little beat of four into your shoulder.
âWhatever you want.âÂ
You remove your thumbs from over your eyes, sensitive and red rimmed as they are, glancing at the man next to you carefully. The brightness of your living room causes you to squint and he reaches his free hand to wipe tears from your bottom lashes, his crooked index finger pressing delicately against your skin.
âI know that sounds callous and it probably is the wrong thing to say but your life isnât over just because he isnât here to watch you live it.â Now itâs Mirioâs voice that cracks and he clears his throat, hand flexing against where it rests on your upper arm. âHe left you the tools to live however you want. You have a successful business, you are young and beautiful andâŚâ
He trails off and you blink at him silently. The true feelings he has tried so desperately to hide for the years he has known you are seeping out of him. How much longer can he possibly hold it in before the pressure starts to cause cracks? Before it spills out of him wildly, an ode to you from a boy who has loved you since seventeen?
You stop him from spiraling, opening your mouth to speak while tears escape over his finger and roll down your face.
âI think Iâm scared, Mirio.âÂ
This is the first time youâve admitted it, even to yourself. An undefined future is a terrifying prospect and while Toshinori was here, you were guaranteed to always have him. Scheduled pills and injections, showers and quality of life activities. Even your work is unstructured outside of your scheduled annual audits, only being called upon when you are needed.Â
He holds you against him, leaning down to press his lips against your forehead. This could be just what you need and although he worries about pushing boundaries, you prove his worries wrong by snuggling further into his side. Your tears drip onto the cotton of his t-shirt and he uses his second hand to begin wiping them away, shushing you gently and affectionately.
âItâs okay to be afraid, he wouldnât judge you for that, but donât let it make you waste the opportunity to live exactly how you want.â His words are comforting and you nod against his chest, sniffling. âThere is no right or wrong way to handle this.â
This is the first time anyone has told you that itâs okay to not know what to do right now. Not that youâve ever asked, too fearful of making missteps to try and prevent them at all. You need reassurance and although youâve been given it, itâs hard not to seek it from a man youâve found so much comfort in over the past few months. He has been vulnerable with you, it seems only right to do the same for him in return.Â
Sighing, you unbury your face from his chest. âDo you think Iâm doing okay?â
There is a version of you, more than a decade younger than you are now, that lives in Mirioâs mind and he sees her in the way you look up at him with uncertain eyes. It strikes him how long the two of you have known each other; how long he has been dancing around his feelings for you. He nods, removing his arm from your shoulder to cup your cheeks in his palms.
The urge to kiss away those tears is strong but he talks himself down, tilting your head until your gazes fully meet. All of the love he has kept to himself for a decade further threatens to spill out. He stops himself, self restraint a requirement of being a hero after all, and his thumbs gently stroke the rose petal soft skin beneath them.
âYouâre doing better with all of this than anyone else ever could.â
There are no words he has ever meant more than these besides the ones he decides to keep to himself, saving the oft considered âI love youâ for another day.Â
âThank you. For everything. I kind of worry Iâm asking too much from you,â you rush to apologize and he keeps his grip on your face gentle but firm.Â
âYou can ask me for anything you need.â
He means it more than he meant his promise to the last man that loved you.
âAlright, I think weâve had as much fun as we are going to have. Babysitters get paid hourly, you know.â
Katsuki wraps his arm around his wifeâs shoulders, pulling her close to him beneath the same lights the six of you used to drink under a long time ago while saying his goodbye. He has never been much of a drinker and hasnât indulged even a bit tonight but his wifeâs relaxed expression gives away how many beers sheâs had and you giggle at her, squeezing her hand as she walks by on their way out.
âBe careful you two,â you call after them, Mirio turning to look at you while you glance over your shoulder. Only Midoriya and his wife remain seated across from you two, snuggled in the corner of their side of the booth. Dekuâs ever lovely better half raises a brow and nudges her husband in the ribs gently, subtly motioning toward where the pair of you sit.
This is the first night youâve really enjoyed yourself in the six months since youâve lost Toshinori. It has been a great walk down a memory lane you havenât bothered to explore in a long time.
âGosh, heâs so grumpy,â you laugh to yourself and Mirio giggles beside you, looking as smitten as he always does. Izuku notices it and looks down at his wife, the two of them communicating wordlessly by the time you glance at them. âIâm guessing you two are next to head home?â You tease, your own brain slightly hazy from the few beers youâve allowed yourself to indulge in.Â
A little voice in the back of your head made you fear showing your face in public, especially after the scrutiny that came so few months ago, but nobody has taken a second glance at your group of friends despite all of the men in the group landing in the top five of the Hero standings. It appears whatever backlash was sparked has faded quickly. You make a note to thank the classmates you had that now work in the media who were likely behind it, hoping you remember it later.
You havenât just had a good time tonight, youâve had a great one. Smiling gratefully, you look over at your two remaining friends.
âLike Kacchan said, babysitters are paid hourly,â Deku raises his brows and shrugs. His wife kisses his cheek, beginning to slide out of the booth while he holds onto her hand and follows.
Mirio nods at Izuku and smiles at his wife, having known the two of them since high school as well, the same story with the now gone Bakugouâs.
âGet that beautiful wife of yours home safe, Deku.â He jokes with a chuckle and his friend laughs in response, reaching across the table to pat his shoulder and then yours.Â
Itâs hard for him to believe how much has changed over these years but how much has remained the same simultaneously. His close friends married their high school sweethearts and settled into their family life, kids and recitals and dinner parties. A piece of him has wondered for years if that could have been the two of you as well if heâd left less up to chance as a young man.
Does it do any good to wonder? Mirio doesnât know yet he does often, tonight especially.
âYou ready to go?â
A little lost in your own world, you look up at him with your eyebrows raised and nod slowly. He looks so handsome, even in this poorly lit room, and heat rises in your face straight to the tips of your ears. It has been a long time since youâve felt that particular heat, the kind that makes your stomach flip flop.
Would it be wrong of you to ask him if he wants to hang out with you for a little while longer? You donât have ill intentions in wanting to spend time with him, at least thatâs what you tell yourself, and the few beers have made you feel brave.
âDo you wanna hang out with me for a little while? We can just go back to the house or find somewhere else orâŚâ you trail off slightly, a little self conscious. Do you seem desperate? Lonely? Annoying? âIf you donât want to though, I understand.âÂ
Finishing your question hurriedly, you glance up at Mirio who looks at you with that same earnest stare he has given you for years. There are depths in those pretty blue eyes, humor and pain that he has experienced and joy and so much. There is simply so much more to this man than most people know and unexpectedly, it isnât just your face that feels too hot, itâs the entire room.
âOf course I do. Let me just take you home and we can hang out there, that way Iâm not keeping a lady out too late.â
He knows heâs taking a risk by being outright flirtatious with you after months of trying to keep it subtle. He is but a man and knows that look, though. That âthrough the lashes, lips slightly parted, beautiful woman who wants to spend time with youâ look. Heâd be a fool to say no, even if you two do nothing but talk for hours. Thereâs nothing else heâd rather do with the remnants of his night anyway.
âAfter you,â he offers with a bright grin. The few beers he has had make his cheeks pink and you want to reach out and touch them but refrain, uncertain of how to do all of this correctly. Youâve never really dated, outside of a few hookups in your early twenties, so this is truly foreign territory. Itâs a lot to wrestle with the guilt of moving on, something you have reluctantly admitted to yourself it seems youâre doing, and the weight of grief on your shoulders at all times.Â
When does it ever get better or at the very least, when does it become less of a struggle?
Saving those questions for another, less fun evening you slide out of the booth and he follows after, placing his hand against your back to walk you out of the bar. It feels natural, his fingers splayed across your spine and heat once again blooms. Itâs embarrassing to feel so excited by sheer touch.
Your relationship with Toshinori was never sexual. Always a companion more so than a lover despite the deep love that bloomed between the two of you, you spent a lot of nights in a different bed exploring your own body while he slept in his own room down the hall. This was always the arrangement, comfortable for both of you. He was physically incapable of having sex and you never wanted to make him feel like less because of it, still complimenting his appearance and doing your best to make him feel attractive. Which he was, even until the end that smile and those jovial blue eyes had the ability to light up a room.
Itâs just different with Mirio. This isnât the first time that heat has bloomed beneath your belly button, begging you to follow it all the way down a rabbit hole you arenât quite sure you are ready for and the alcohol is making it worse tonight. If he can tell, heâs being a gentleman about it, something to be grateful about.
The two of you stand in the now cool autumn night air, the city still noisy outside. The breeze chills your warm cheeks and you look up at him to find him glancing down at you, wearing an expression that tells him some of the same things on your mind are on his.
âWhat are you thinking about?â
The question is laced with humor, as most of what the man says tends to be, and you feel caught with your pants down. Playing it off with a giggle, you decide to push back; to make him feel like heâs the one being surveyed instead.Â
âWhy didnât you kiss me when we were in high school?â
The topic of first kisses came up tonight, your friends reminiscing about how theyâve shared their first everything together throughout the years, and you recall yours being lackluster. Some guy you went to college with named Dai who slobbered all over your face your first year.
Certainly not who you wouldâve preferred sharing a kiss with.
Your question has caught Mirio off guard and he rubs his neck, scrunching his nose and refusing to make eye contact with you. The truth is that he was simply too afraid to make a move and by the time he was able to, it felt improper given the conflict and all that happened.
It was hardly a time for making a move on the girl you had a crush on and the two of you just went your separate ways after that. He became a Pro Hero, working his way up into the top 15 within his first year and then the top 10 the next and only climbing from there, you went to college to pursue your public safety certification. By the time you were able to reconnect in your early twenties, your lives had diverged so wildly it no longer felt appropriate to, well, go after you.
âI donât know,â he finally says. âI think I was afraid you didnât like me back.â Snorting, you attempt to stifle your laughter. He glances down at you, tilting his head, feigning offense.
âReally? Iâm being honest with you and youâre going to laugh at me?â
Wrapping your arm around his bicep, you attempt damage control by resting your head against him. A breathy sigh leaves you and you glance upward to catch him staring down at you once again.
âI had such a crush on you that even Hatsume gave me shit about it.â You speak through your nose, attempting the now most sought after equipment outfitter in all of Japan's higher voice and inflection. âWhereâs your little boyfriend, magnet girl?â
The two of you devolve into a fit of childish giggles, not unlike the ones you shared back then, and without warning he leans in close to you. You still cling to his bicep but heâs bent at the waist, lips inches from yours, one of his hands reaching to rest against the side of your neck.
âCan I make up for it now?â
Ocean eyes search yours, pleading for an answer. All of that heat courses through your body at once and without putting too much thought into any real consequence, you nod. Just a kiss wonât hurt either of you, for old timeâs sake regardless of what may or may not be blooming here. Mirio closes the distance between the two of you and gently brushes his lips against yours, gentlemanly and chivalrous even in the throes his tremendous need to touch and feel and be close to you, and you whimper when he pulls away sooner than you liked.
âWas that okay?â
Giggling, you lean in and kiss him again to give him his reply. It was more than okay, it was everything youâve ever dreamed of. His lips are soft, a sharp comparison to the well kept and bulky rest of him that you have had to stop yourself from eyeing hungrily on more than one occasion. His mouth tastes like salt and beer and love.
Pure love lives on his tongue that is working its way into your mouth while he hurriedly backs you two into a narrow alleyway between the bar you just left and the building next to it. His knee rests between your barely parted legs and your hands reach for anything they can grab, forearms and biceps and his shoulders and chest. You touch recklessly, one hand sliding up the side of his neck to cup his jaw and the other rubbing circles just beneath the hem of his shirt, above his belt buckle.
âHey,â he stops you unexpectedly to catch his breath, chest heaving while he glances down at you. âI want to keep this going but I have to tell you first that I love you.â
There it is. The thing he has been keeping to himself for twelve long, torturous years. Mirio loves you so fiercely he wonders how heâs managed to even breathe the last 12 years without you by his side, your laughter and light filling his days and nights no matter how they go.Â
How could he ever live without you again? He isnât sure that he could.
Blinking up at him, you slide your hand further up his face and tousle his blonde hair between your fingers.Â
âI donât care if itâs too soon for you to say it back or if you ever will but I love you. I have for such a long time it hurts to keep it to myself any longer.â
The smile on your face turns into a full blown grin, fingers still snaked in his hair. Maybe itâs too soon, maybe lust is winning the battle between your wits and your heart or maybe this is a chance to say something youâve felt for longer than you realized.Â
âI love you too, Mirio.â
It doesnât make your love for Toshinori any less real to admit you love the man who has been by your side for virtually 24 hours a day for the last six months and long before that too.Â
He leans back in and kisses you again, silencing any thoughts other than the two of you and it leaves you breathless, gently grinding against his jean clad thigh and sucking on his tongue. Another pause and he pulls away, cupping your face.Â
âTake me home with you.â
It isnât a plea of desperation but one of pure unadulterated need. He needs you, any way youâll let him have you, tonight.Â
Nodding, you close the distance and press your lips against his.
âLetâs go.â
In all the time that has passed since you lost Toshinori, your home feels a little brighter when you arise in it each day.Â
It feels like somewhere you can build your own life now instead of living trapped inside the memory of his. You were concerned that changing anything about this place would rob you of the comfort of having once loved the man who left it to your care but you know he wouldnât want you to stand in one place for long. All those months ago, Mirio was right when he told you that Toshinori would want you to make the best of what youâve been given.
Move forward, heâd assure you if he were still here. Be yourself and find happiness.
Despite all the ways youâre still healing, you have.Â
You think about him every day. You will forever, regardless of the nature of your relationship and how other people view it. Some days the memory of him cuts through you like a knife, especially the last year of your life with him spent doing a lot more caretaking than youâd done the prior four, and other days itâs a gentle breeze. A whisper and reminder that heâs watching you, he loves you, heâs proud of you.
Youâve done the All Might legacy well, donating a large chunk of his fortune back to the communities he so committedly served. Scholarships for students who want to go to hero academies but may not have the pedigree or wealth to let them in, rebuilding the last remnants of an over decade old war that still scar areas of Musutafu tourists donât visit.Â
The dreams you have yet to fulfill with what youâve been provided make your future seem more full than ever. Hospitals bearing his name, education about the balance of hero life and personal life, safety equipment becoming better than ever. Your ambitions are big and you will make them all come true, a vow you made to him on the day he died even if he wasnât cognizant enough to understand what you were saying.
This is all for him, dearly departed, a man you cared so deeply about you wouldâve taken care of him for ten more years if you had to. Youâre grateful it didnât come to that if only for his sake, the suffering his ailing body was facing more than you like to think about even today, but all things considered it was a good life.Â
Even the papers have commended the woman they once referred to as an amoral opportunist.Â
Maybe you arenât so bad after all.
And today when your feet hit the ground, the sun rises and fills the room with light through the gauzy curtains you put up a few months back. The cat you recently adopted twines himself around your legs and looks up at you expectantly, breakfast already a few minutes late. You couldnât go long without having something new to take care of, the cat was once a beat up little thing brought to you by Lemillion himself one evening after a shift that has grown into a demanding beast.
âSaving little lost cats is a bit cliche, isnât it?â You joked when he unzipped his hooded sweatshirt and produced the fuzzy, green eyed lump that mewed at you the moment he saw you. Mirio grinned and half shrugged. âYeah but Iâm good at it, right?â
Good he is, you think looking over at his still sleeping form in your bed.Â
For some, it may be too soon to cautiously lend your heart to another man. You love Toshinori and always will, the impact he left on your life is profound in ways youâll discover for years to come, but a part of you has always loved Mirio even if circumstances prevented the pair of you from being together. He was once a silly teenager who was too afraid to ask you to be his girlfriend when he graduated high school, satisfied to leave things up to fate, and now he is a grown man who has been by your side through the most painful loss of your life so far, holding you together on the days when you were worried you would crumble.
Both of you are grateful that fate decided well although she took her time and brought a lot of pain on her way.
Instead of getting out of bed, you lean down and pick up your now purring cat and slide back into bed beside him, his hands instinctively reaching behind him for your thighs to pull you closer.Â
âI didnât think you were awake,â you whisper and he chuckles, scarred hand running up the expanse of your thigh while your cat climbs onto his shoulder and licks his face. Thereâs no use in trying to carefully swat the creature away so he lets him settle onto the pillow above his head.Â
âI always notice when you get up and I have to fight the urge to follow you.â
Giggling, you wrap yourself around his back and rest your cheek between his bare shoulder blades.
âWhyâs that?â
He finally turns to face you, blue eyes glancing down at the thing he has wanted for years. Your unmade, half awake face. The domesticity of your cat purring above both of your heads. The promise of packing to take a week off from heroics to go and enjoy a far off destination neither of you have been together.
âIn case I ever lose you again,â he admits vulnerably and you smile up at him, hand reaching to cup his cheek.
The half awake mumblings have more truth to them then you could possibly imagine, fear that something else will hurt you or pull you away from him. Fear that heâs going to waste his time again, precious days he has always wanted to spend with you meaning nothing because heâs too cowardly to fight for what he wants. Maybe a younger version of Mirio Togata would have let this happen but not this one, older and wiser that he is.Â
The ring he plans on proposing to you with this week is nestled in his suitcase, buried beneath too many pairs of socks and probably too few pairs of boxers. He wonât even mind a long engagement, if you need one, as long as he knows forever with you is what waits on the other side.
âYou donât have to worry about that. I think weâre stuck together for life after all weâve been through.â
As he promised his mentor a few months over a year ago, he will ensure that you are.
#KENDALL . oh my gosh#this was absolutely amazing#mirio is one of my all time loves from mha and you did him such justice that itâs literally inspired me to catch up with the show#thereâs sm i needed tk say so i tucked it under the cut for safekeeping (had to write it in my notes bc i have no service at work sob)#so i mayhaps got carried away#but this story is the kind that sticks with you for a long while. thank you so much for sharing this with us !!#âË. đ â recs.

MORE HIBSSSS PLS oh my gosh I have to know EVERYTHING youâve got about this guy. I love his character design!! He looks so much like his parents!!!
here is a nasty doodle THANK YOU for CARE HIM. i dont even know what to say hes just the most literal interpretation of a tomshiv baby that my brain spawned and naturally that evil clone fusion of tom and shiv is not going to be an alright person. he's not alright he was born in the year mencken was elected and in this universe mencken's presidency never ends. hibs is a member of the resulting government (a position he achieves through his then-trillionaire status)
(oh all of this writing is from shivs pov. should have specified that)
like i said hibs is not allowed to interact with kendall because think shiv would do something like legitimately threaten a restraining order but hibernian is sort of obsessed with kendall from afar
his eyes look like shivs when he squints . he is so pink
#Hibernian My Fucking Guy My Guy#thank u so much whoever sent this :''''')#hes like. what the fuck. hes a strange creation#succession#tom wambsgans#shiv roy#siobhan roy#succession fanfic#fanfic#succession oc#hibernian#fucking hibernian roy-wambsgans that is the worst name i have EVER HEARD and going by hibs r.w. which he does is not better#the nation

Obedient Chapter 2
roman roy x fem! reader
Summary: After a week of getting the job you seemed to finally get a hold of Roman and his weird humor. You were finally proving yourself to him.
Warnings: Implied drug abuse, dark jokes, degradation
Word Count: 3.8k
Notes: Okay Chapter 2! I do want to warn that (not in this chapter) but later on there will be a reveal of a tragic backstory. Not that y/n is like Roman, but traumatized as well. Theres also going to be some kind of fluff in this one. I am trying to make this a slow burn, but it's so hard. ANYWAYS Soooooo I hope you enjooooy.
Chapter 2: Costa Azzurra Eau de Parfum
You left the office completely stunned. I guess thatâs how everyone felt after first meeting Roman. Meeting him was definitely something no one could prep you for. But hey, I guess you finally have a job now. Before you could collect your thoughts, you saw Jess heading your way. âSo? What happened? Oh my god, whatâd he say?â She spoke quickly, expecting the worst from Roman. Every time sheâs been around him wasnât the best. He was arrogant, disgusting, selfish, rude, well Roman.
âI got the job.â You tried to collect your thoughts. You spent so much time prepping and getting ready for this. You thought at the very least this would be a bit more professional. You didnât think youâd get berated for 3 minutes. You were at least expecting to even get asked your credentials. If you even made sense for the job. But I guess the Royâs had enough money to keep everyone quiet and inline. They didnât need to be too careful.
âYou did?â She blinked quickly, looking at Roman then you. Roman spotted her stares and snickered and wiggled his fingers in a way to say hi.
All you could do is nod. âI did.â You finally broke out of your thoughts and started to laugh. You finally were going to see what it was like on the other side. No more struggling or worrying. You could finally pay off your student debt and other debt youâve unfortunately had to be left with. âUhh Roman said I needed to speak to you about getting all my stuff organized and all that.â Jess nodded before walking you through what the next steps were.
Before she could even start, Kendall needed her. âuh-Jess, I need you to help me out with a situation right now, Uh- âHe started before looking down at you. âWhat happened? Arenât you- wait did he just waste our time or-?â He began to question. He seemed stressed. Like he was in a panic for something. Gosh, what a wreck. He was practically sweating an entire fountain. He looked pale. You recognized what it was. Roman hinted at it. Rehab. But it didnât seem like he quit a while ago. It looked like he really needed his fix. And soon.
âIâm just getting y/n organized, Roman said- âShe started to explain before getting cut off by Kendall. I guess they just did that sort of thing. God, how pretentious.
âYou donât work for Roman, do you? No. Now uh-y/n just tell Roman to get someone else to do it. Uh- yea, anyways, I need youâŚâ He quickly snapped before walking away with Jess. You barely made out what he was saying as he left you behind. You were on your own now. You decided to take a breather before having to endure what was Roman Roy once again. Once you composed yourself you turned around, fixed your suit before walking back to his office where he was slouching at his desk, staring at the screen. His head shot quickly up to you as soon as he heard the door, but relaxed once he saw it was you and ignored you for his screen again. âDid you lose your little buddy or somethingâ he teased.
âUh- no. Kendall told me to get you to help me out instead. Cause, and I quote, âshe doesnât work for Romanââ You tried to catch him up. Roman let out an amused sigh as he shook his head. âWow my brother really does have a way with words. The PC king strikes back again with his stupid fucking union bullshit or whatever. Uh yeah okay, well I donât know how to do that shit.â His eyes finally leaving his screen to look at you. But not really at you. He really made such intense eye contact. I guess you had to when your dad is the CEO and you might, which I really doubt Roman ever would, become CEO one day.
âOkay, so do I just- âYou question pointing your thumbs to the door to go look for someone to do what Roman should be doing for you. âNo no, uh just sit down, let me annoy Gerri. Fuck whatâs the point of assistant itâs like having a hamster or somethingâ He huffed in annoyance before spamming Gerri with messages to come to his office. He made every attempt to finally get her attention.
You watched an older blonde woman storm into his office, clearly not in a mood to be dealing with him and his issues, which she seems to have been doing for a bit. âWhat do you want now Roman?â She sighed.
âWell, I wouldnât mind if you striped naked and yâknow call me whatever name you have in your head right nowâ He implied before seeing her give up with him and nearly leaving. âwait-wait- okay sorry. Uh Kendall got me a new toy and I need her to fill some shit out. You know legal bullshit.â
You just couldnât believe he could talk to her like that. Nonetheless she seemed like she wasnât completely livid. She didnât even tell him off. You looked up at her before standing up and putting your hand out. âHi, y/nâ You smiled. Gerri gave you a smile that gave you the feeling of a disappointed parent, youâve seen that look before. Â âHi, just follow me and Iâll get you set up. Romans to incompetent to even find where half of his emails are.â She tried to rationalize with you before leading you out of his office. You just followed and sat down in a small conference room with her. âSo, what do you do?â You asked before sitting down. She had her back turned to you as she was gathering all the paperwork from the filing cabinets. They had people coming in and out, so they had them ready. But Gerri was right, Roman was incompetent. âIâm the companies General Counsel, uh I basically just make sure they donât ruin the company with legal stuffâ She tried to explain. You nodded silently before taking the papers from her. You decided to read some of it over. You couldnât believe what was in some of it. For starters I had to be on the clock and at Romanâs disposal 24/7. I had to basically play as this grown manâs mother. The NDA was worse. Nothing that happened or was said could ever leave my mouth or fingers if I were to type it out. I couldnât tell anything to anyone. Maybe thatâs why Jess was so quiet on how Kendall was and what was actually going on. But regardless, you signed. Once you saw what your salary would be, you signed immediately. It was basically making a deal with the devil himself. You practically sold your soul. But who wouldnât for that kind of money. Once you finished giving off your information, Gerri picked them up and left a hand on your shoulder. âGood luck dear, just one rule I have for you, just donât pay any of them any mind.â She warned before leaving.
You watched as she walked off, her heels clacking out of the room and leaving you alone. You stood up before finally exiting the room yourself.
You got up before going back to Roman for the day before seeing him grabbing his things on his way to leave. âWhere are you going?â You asked. You hadnât even been here an hour and he was leaving. âAn orgy.â He joked before leaving the office. âGive me your phone quickly.â You tried to protest before he snatched it out of your pocket from your suit jacket. âWhatâs the passcode?â You reached back before he moved it away from you. âNuh-uh. I need to give you my number if youâre gonna get paid. I do it with all my paid hookers.â
âIâm not a hooker. Or a pet. So, stop comparing me to that.â You stood your ground finally. You werenât use to keeping your mouth shut. You never really even kept quiet this long. âYea sure youâre not. Thatâs what the last Guinee pig hooker I hired said.â He said before using your face to finally unlock your phone. You reached out again before having him smack your hand out of the way. âOw!â You cried out, holding your wrist.
âBoo fucking hoo, cry me a river, snowflake.â He seemed to try to correct you. You watched him intensely as he seemed to be on your phone forever now. âOh what, you scared Iâm gonna find some sex tape on this? You know it isnât really smart to keep that on here. With the cloud and whatever the fuck those perverts do. Me, on the other hand, donât care. You can watch all you want.â He shot you a wink. You reeled back. He wasnât a good flirt. If this is what he called flirting. It was disgusting. He was basically a walking PR nightmare packaged in a small insecure manâs body. He tossed your phone up in the air before you could even process what happened. You frantically jolted and tried to grab it, thankfully grabbing it before it had fallen on the floor. âDone, I texted myself. Iâll text you what I need after my crazy insane BDSM orgy.â He laughed before hitting the L button. The elevators shut and he was finally gone. I guess it was time to go home too. You decided today was enough. This had been completely overly stimulating for you. It was definitely an intense day. You went home and laid down on your bed. Before you could even cut your eyes, your phone began to buzz. You opened it to see a few texts from Roman. He put his name in your phone to âsexy new bossâ. What a prick? Youâve never met someone who was so into himself.Â
âhellooooooooâ
âitâs me, your new fuckable bossâ.
âyou cant use that against me in court by the way.â
âhellooooooo I said its meâ
âiâll send a bomb to your house if you donât respond to meâ
âokay fine. done. just sent one. now I need a new assistantâ
âok ok im jokingâ
You read them as they came one after the other. Wow what a deranged little man. You swiped the messages open and finally replied to him.
âWhat do you need?â you sent.
âooo wow so profess. just checking to see if you quitâ
âim kidding again. just checking in on youâ
You shook your head before replying to him again with a simple thank you and shutting your phone off again.
This is how it was for nearly a week. You would get ready for work as early as 7:30 am, just to be sent home early because Roman refused to even be there. And when he was, he was basically just making disgusting and deranged comments towards you or whoever the fuck was in the room. But that you can handle. Just an annoyance at this point. He did text you constantly. He seemed lonely. Like he didnât even have anyone to really talk to. He spent most of his day or even night trying to get you to reply to him. He would send you text after text after text. He assumed because Kendall always texted Jess that was the reason, they were close enough for him to trust her. But he couldnât break that barrier with you. He didnât know what he could do to get you to even give him any kind of attention. You barely flinched at his jokes, at least you didnât show it and you were social with everyone else. He didnât understand his need for his attention from you. But he got some kind from everyone so easily. He wanted whatever he couldnât have. The only kind of reaction you would give him was quiet. You barely even made fun of him back.
You headed to the office later than usual, realizing that you were mostly wasting your time just showing up at 9 am. You were gonna be waiting on Roman for at least 2 hours for him to even get here. He probably had been sleeping in til 12 pm sometimes. You donât know how Logan hadnât fired him already. Even if he was his own son. You walked into the building at 11, knowing this was the earliest Roman would even get here. You stepped out of the elevator to see Roman in his office. You walked in before knocking on the door to let him know you were here.
âYouâre late.â He sang as he pulled away from his computer. He laughed to himself, looking up at you.
âSorry, I didnât expect you to be at the office yet.â You explained before setting down your latte that you got before work. You sat down and pulled out your tablet to review what was next for Roman to slack off on.
âDoesnât mean you shouldnât be here. Arenât you a little slacker? Do I have to look back at your references and experience on that resume of yours?â He sat up, laying his hands on the desk. He was always so amused to annoy you.
âYou never looked at my resume, remember? You thought it was a waste of our time.â You remined.
âYea yea but what do I know? Iâm just an attractive billionaire about to be crowned COO.â He shrugged. You didnât know if he was insulting you and your education or if he was being genuine.
âCrowned? Do you think youâre getting a coronation or something?â You finally fired back at him. âThatâs not how that works.â âYeah I donât know what the shit is, but regardless, now that you said it, I want it.â He raised his chin up like a little schoolboy. He seemed so proud of his stupid joke. He always did. He really did think he was extremely hilarious. Even if no one laughed at his own jokes, he did. It was the only thing he ever really liked about himself. I mean, he partly hated it because it made people not like him that much, but he knew he didnât have much to ever offer people. Laughing was the only thing he could do to keep people around him happy enough with him. Or else heâd be just another substance abuser like Kendall or a prick like Shiv or even worse, boring like Connor.
âYea, let me get my measuring tape out for the dick measuring contest then.â You finally learned to play along. You didnât want to argue and fight with yourself to keep quiet. You thought it only made your day more stressful. Â You expected something bad from Roman for talking like that, but you looked up to only see him actually laughing at your throw back. You hid a smile as you looked back down at your tablet. Even though you didnât like to admit it too, your humor was also the only thing you liked about yourself. You didnât like to be alone either. It was too much to be alone with all your own thoughts too. You also didnât like the silence. You craved hearing people talking about other than your own issues or weird ticks. It was good to get the attention not on you all the time, unless you wanted it.Â
âItâs a good 9 inches, alright? I should know I put my dick up against almost every guy Iâve met.â He lied so easily. It was only cause he knew no one would actually believe him.
âEven your dads?â You tried to hit a nerve. This was starting to seem like some kind of fun to you. It was so easy to make fun of him back because he really didnât care what people even said to him.
âEw no you pervert. You wish though.â That was probably the first time he said it to someone else rather than being called that. Unless it was Moe or Karl. One of those weird fucks from the board. His dad was tied in with a lot of sketchy guys in all honesty. âBesides, I could whip it out if youâd like to see that badly.â
You shook your head, outing your hand up in protest. âNope, Iâm good. Donât worry. Anyways you have to do your work.â You said before getting up to go over to him to show him what was due today. He wasnât gonna do them, but you felt safe enough that Roman wouldnât grope you. You leaned down to his level, him sitting up to reach up to you, showing him the tablet of the upcoming projects.
Your bodies were barely an inch away from each other that you could even smell the weird pervy cologne he had on. It was a weird kind of nice. You kind of liked it, but you couldnât pinpoint what you liked about it. Maybe like when you canât stop tasting or smelling something that smells kind of off just because of curiosity. Regardless, it smelt like Roman just went to a perfume shop and picked the most expensive and ridiculous looking bottle he could even find.
You felt his eyes on you as you spoke, but it wasnât as uncomfortable as you imagined. âPay attention.â You redirected him, but he didnât stray his longing looks away. He tried to get a read on you. You were so unwilling to let him see you crack or even show any kind of frustration. Not that he wanted to, but everyone did at this point. Or at least people expressed so after meeting him for a bit. You continued on and on before stopping to look his way, finding your face almost against his. Your faces were so close to one another you bumped your nose against his. You pulled back a bit as you tried to readjust how you were standing by him. You finally realized Roman was a lot softer than you initially thought. He was an asshole, sure. But he was kind of endearing to you. Something made you drawn to him. Maybe it was the way he tried to get a laugh all the time or that you finally realized his eyes were brown. Or maybe that he wasnât as harsh looking as you thought. He looked grosser when you first glanced at him, but up close you were finally taking in all of his features. His weird little quirks that made him look so strange actually made sense on his face. You even noticed he was kind of smiling at you. You turned back to the tablet and pushed his chin to face it as well. âCome on now. Do I need to play Bluey or Coco Melon for you?â
âI donât know what the fuck that is, but if theyâre names of porn stars, then yes.â He laid his arm on the desk, putting his hand up to his head to hold it, positioning to look right back at you.
âDoesnât your brother have kids? Donât they watch kid shows? Or are you not allowed within a 200 feet radius of children?â You were trying not to get frustrated with him on his tasks of the day. You spent everyday making these notes for him to never even do them. âYou really think Kendall takes care of them? Fuck no. Heâs too busy doing blow in some undergrown New York club to watch them. My dad really led by example.â Roman confessed something he shouldnât have, but he was hoping youâd find it all a joke like all of his weird comments. You blinked to understand all the trauma that was dumped in front of you. âWow. Okay.â Was the only words that could attempt to even leave your mouth. You tried to shake that brand new information off. âAh yeah, Kendall is a fake snowflake wannabe. He acts like heâs read Karl Marx and that he even gives a fuck.â Roman really tried to keep this impression of hating Kendall. Not that you understood what their relationship even was, but it was confusing to way the very least. They constantly seemed to be annoyed with one another, but youâve seen other articles and pictures of them where they looked like your average billionaire happy family. You hated to say, but you really enjoyed the insider details of whatever fucked up dynamic this was. âAlright start your speech again, I wasnât listening.â He seemed actually serious this time. You nodded and just went back to the top of your notes. Roman just wanted to move this topic as quick. He shared too much. He shouldnât have, but who else could he talk shit about his brother with? Everyone he knew adored Ken except Shiv, but right now she was annoyed at him for whatever reason she came up with now. All because he insinuated that Shiv was with Tom only for comfort and not cause she actually loved him. But whatever, she was being a bitch.
He seemed to actually listen to you, was he actually going to do any of that? Fuck no, but it was an excuse to move the conversation. And just to hear you talk again. You really were smart. You actually did know what the fuck you were talking about and not just playing some kind of role. Maybe with the outfit and hair, but still, you seemed smart enough to know what you even said.
You spent the entire day with Roman before he started to get ready to leave early again. Which was your cue to also get ready to leave. âOh uh- by the way, thereâs a party tonight, I need you on the clock for that. Iâll send over some actually clothes to your place. Not anything from a fucking sweat shop. My driver will get you.â He said as quickly he could before walking off. You never had any time to react to Roman. He was way too fast for you to even fully comprehend anything that left his mouth. It was always so much.
But wow okay. A rich person party. This was new. Not an exciting new. More of an anxious new. Like going to a new school for the first time kind of new. If you looked any kind of wrong, you knew youâd be shunned or even made fun of in there. It didnât take long for these people to start to laugh or mock people in this office, you could only imagine what it could be like at a party with billionaires like the Royâs.

Just got my little sister hooked on the Aurora comic. I had a page of it open as I was about to get to work on studying for a quiz, and she thought the art was super cool. She then promptly asked to read it from the beginning. It turned into a full hour excursion and weâre onto chapter four.
Weâve got this thing where when we read a comic together we read it aloud and we each get to voice various characters so Iâll have a post later about how I think the characters sound to give you a proper breakdown of things there.
Here are a few conclusions sheâs reached:
The Collector is hot but evil
Alinua is beautiful and has never done anything wrong
Kendal is very cool and looks great with a ponytail
She wants to be part wind elf like the magistrate of Windscrest
Erin is âthat guyâ and she canât wait to see more of him
there are a lot of words in this that she doesnât know but sheâs beginning to understand them
Conclusions I Have Reached:
Erin is my favorite still. I was actually so giddy when I got to read his part in Chapter 3.
My sister probably likes women
This comic has been so good even from the beginning. I started reading this a couple of years ago and the beginning details were a little vague for me but upon rereading it, like oh my gosh itâs so good
Kendal and Alinua have been so good for each other since the start. Ride or die besties and I am living for it.
Redâs metallic effects have gotten much better from when she initially drew Tess.
I can analyze and explain whatâs going on here so much better than I could when I initially read the comic and I can appreciate the story thatâs being woven more and more

ch 1Â ch 3Â ch 4Â ch 5
************* (21, turning 22)
You and Kendall decided to fly up to California to spend your birthday, and about a month up there, since soon Bradley would be off to Maryland and you would have limited time to see each other.
You knocked on the door to your childhood home, Kendall holding both your bags while you bounced in anticipation. Bradley had no idea you were coming, you hadnât been feeling well the past couple weeks and he assumed that you would stay home so as to not get others sick.
You knocked once again, hearing a small groan and footsteps speeding up behind the door. âIâm coming!âÂ
The door swung open and Bradley stopped, dropping his water bottle.Â
âOh my gosh!â He picked you up and spun you around, âWhat are you doing here? I thought you were sick?â You shook your head, âNope. It was just a little something, it went away like a week and a half ago.â He looked at Kendall and brought him in for a bro hug, âGood to see you, Ken Doll.â Your boyfriend laughed, âGood to see you too, Brad Squared.â
You smiled and moved to pick up your bag but both boys stopped you, âNuh uh.â âNope.âÂ
Kendall swooped up your bag and Bradley moved to let you in. âI can carry things, you know.â âNot when weâre around.â You shook your head, âKen, my room is this way.â You walked him through the house and to your room.
When you came back you found Bradley on the back porch.
âSee you didnât change my room,â you chuckled as you leaned on the railing.Â
âYou kiddinâ me? You woulda kicked my ass if I touched your stuff.â âYeah, but what about when you bring girls over?â âI go to their place.â You just shook your head, âEver the player Bradley.â âYou know it.â âGross, I was kidding.â You gagged and shoved him.
You both came back in and Kendall was already on the couch. âSee youâre comfortable already,â you plopped down next to him and his arm went to your waist.Â
âHey, I was thinking about going to the Hard Deck, just hang out. Talk to some friends.â You nodded and craned your neck to look at Kendall, âIâm down.â He pursed his lips and nodded, âYeah sure.â Bradley nodded and checked his watch, âOkay, we could go about 6? Gives us like 3 hours to hang out and get ready.â You smiled, âBeach?â The two guys shared a look, âBeach.â
*********
Later, you, Kendall, and Bradley walked into the Hard Deck. âWait, we didnât decide on a DD,â Bradley mentioned. You raised your hand, âIâll be DD.â âYou sure?â You nodded, âYeah, Iâm sure. You two have fun.â Kendall rubbed your back as you went to the bar.
âHi, sweetie, what can I get you?â âUm, two beers, bottles are fine. And what do you have thatâs non alcoholic?â The bartender threw the towel over her shoulder, âWell, Iâve got lemonade, sweet tea, soda, and water of course.â âOkay, Iâll take a lemonade, please.â âCominâ right up.â
She gathered the beers and sat them down. âSo, youâre the designated driver?â She questions as she pours the lemonade, while nodding towards the two men. You nodded, âYes, maâam.â âWhich oneâs yours?â You chuckled, âTechnically both.â She rose a brow. âThe one with the stache is my brother, the one in the bright board shorts is my boyfriend.â She nodded, âGot it.âÂ
She glanced back at them, brows pinching in confusion and her eyes widened in realization.
You followed her gaze, seeing that she was looking at Bradley and then turned to her. She looked at you, âWait, are you Goose Bradshawâs kids?âÂ
You nodded, pride in your chest hearing your dadâs call sign. âI should have known, he looks just like him.â You chuckled, âYeah, the stache and the shirt, itâs crazy.â âYou, little miss, look like your Mama. But I can see your Daddy in there too.â You laughed, grabbing your drinks, âThank you, MissâŚ?â âPenny, Penny Benjamin,â she told you with a smile.Â
Your jaw dropped, âWait, youâre THE Penny Benjamin?â âOne and only.â âWow, we heard a lot about you growing up.â She cringed, âI donât know if thatâs good or bad.â âWell, it came from the one and only Maverick, if thatâs any hint.âÂ
âJust donât tell me you followed in my footsteps,â she begged, a chuckle right behind it. You shook your head, âI havenât dated a Navy man, no. Not to say I didnât see my fair share of football players, before settling with my guitar player over there.â She smiled, âThatâs good. Have fun, girl. Donât hesitate to let me know if you need anything.â You nodded, grabbing the drinks and walking away before turning right back around.Â
âI still need to pay for these.â You laughed, sitting the drinks down and pulling out your wallet. âFirst roundâs on me. Iâll start your tab on the second round,â she threw you a wink before tending to someone else. You smiled and grabbed your things and went to the table.
After a few rounds, you all head back to the house for a shower and then settle in the living room for a movie.
âWhat are we watching?â You asked as you squeezed your hair with a towel.Â
âIâm thinking of Spider-Man, but I want you to pick since you didnât drink and itâs also your birthday,â Bradley said, moving out of the way of the dvd and vhs collection. You gave him an appreciative smile and sat cross-cross in front of the cabinet.
âSpeaking of drinks, Iâve got some. I got beer, wine, and I think thereâs Crown in there,â Bradley said pointing to the kitchen. âIâll take a beer,â Kendall said, moving his gaze from you to your brother.Â
He snapped his fingers, âOne beer, got it. Y/N, you want anything?â You shrugged while looking through movies, âGot Dr. Pepper?â âUh yeah I think so. Want that with anything? Like I said, I got Crown.â âJust the soda is okay, thank you Brad.â
Your brother tilted his head before glancing at your boyfriend, silently asking if you were okay. Kendall just shrugged, shaking his head. Bradley nodded and decided to chalk it up to you not wanting to get sick.
You decided to go with your brotherâs choice, having no problem watching a superhero movie. âOkay, now that thatâs in, I can get comfortable.â You go to sit down but stop, âSnacks, I need snacks.â Kendall laughed, giving your butt a small pat when you walked by. âWhat do you want, Babe?â He shrugged, âWhatever you got.â You nodded and went to the kitchen.
âBrad, do you have cookies? Like Chips Ahoy or something?â He just nodded and pointed to the cabinet.Â
You opened it and gasped, making Bradley jump. âWhat?â You reached in and grabbed the box, âYou have the ones with M&Mâs in them! Yes!â He laughed and shook his head, watching you reach in and grab something else. âAnd you have goldfish.â âYeah, Iâve got popcorn in the microwave. What movie did you pick?â âSpider-Man.âÂ
Your brother looked at you, squinting his eyes, âReally? Y/N you donât have to pick what I pick just because I picked it. Itâs your birthday too, I want you to have fun.â âBradley, I want to watch it, I promise. If Iâm not having fun, Iâll let you know. Okay?â He nodded, âYou promise?â âPromise.â
********
The movie ended and both Kendall and Bradley had fallen asleep. You looked at the clock, 2:30 AM.
You got up and decided to go to the back porch.
As you looked up at the sky and watched waves roll by, arms wrapped around your middle. âDid I wake you?â Kendall shook his head, planting a kiss on the back of yours, âNo. I woke up and thought you had gone to throw up in the bathroom.â You shook your head, âNo, Iâm okay. You should go to bed though, Iâll be in in a bit okay.â He nodded and gave you a kiss, âHappy birthday, sweet girl.â âThank you, baby.â He gave you another quick kiss before retreating to the bedroom.
You looked up at the sky and sighed, your hand splayed out on your stomach.Â
âI wish you guys could have met him. Heâs great. He makes me feel like Iâm the only girl in the world. When Iâm with him⌠itâs like the world doesnât even exist. Dad you would have loved him, heâs funny and respectful, makes your little duck feel like a queen.â
You sighed, âIâve always dreamt of a love like this, a love like you and mom have.â You decided to let the tears flow instead of holding them back.Â
âWe miss you, Bradley and I.â You choked on a sob, hand gripping at your shirt. âYour two little chicks arenât so little anymore. And in about 9 months, youâll have a little grand-gosling.â
âWait what?â Your brother's groggy voice made you jump. âGeez, Bradley! You scared me.âÂ
âWhat did you say?â You gave him a small smile, âIâm pregnant, Brad. Youâre gonna be an uncle.â That really woke him up. âWait, really? Are you serious? Like you arenât playing a joke on me right now.â âIâm 100% serious.â âGreat balls of fire! Thatâs amazing!â You were scooped up in a hug, laughing at the use of your dadâs old catchphrase.
He sat you down, âSo thatâs why you felt sick. And why you werenât drinking.â You nodded, âYup.â âWhen are you due?â You shrugged, âAround February.â âWhen did you find out?â âAbout two weeks ago. We think it happened right after graduation.â âOkay, I donât want to think about that.âÂ
You laughed and so did Bradley. âWhy donât we get some sleep and tomorrow we can go see the Kazanskys? Then maybe a beach day? Go see mom and dad?â You nodded, âSounds perfect. Goodnight, Brad.â âGoodnight Duckie.â

Superfam Family Tree v8
high quality here
added:
multiple Pa Kent's siblings, golden age Minerva (her parrot almost gave away Clark's identity to everyone), silver age Kendall (tried to buy Clark SEVERAL times because he's so super rich and needs an heir... yep it was weird đ), bronze age Bert (apparently was an anarchist or a hippie and denied inherited wealth) and his daughter Jillian (was eventually adopted by Kendall), modern age Harry and golden age George (lied for years in letters to his brother about his beautiful son Judd, bc he was jealous of the relationship between John and Clark, and crooks took advantage of this *sigh*). well, i fulfilled George's dream and Mon-El became that son. also the writers were sometimes confused and Kendall and Bert were written as Martha's brothers. oh, and the name of Clark's adoptive grandma comes from the golden age. Sam Kent's previous names were Hiram and Matthew.
house of El. NOT ALL. otherwise my head will immediately explode thinking how to connect another branch with Thara
one issue children, Tommy, Johnny-Jimmy, gosh Clark was the really worst for this poor kid, he didn't even remember his name T_T and Gregor
one issue Loisâ adopted daughter, Little Moon. and this story... hasn't aged wellđŹ
their adopted son Hunter Prince, Diana's bio son from another alternate future
Karen's magical fucking pregnancy. from the time when she was still considered Atlantean, not Kryptonian. wild bullshit worthy of being in the same trash can as Carol Danvers' pregnancy. i hate these stories soooo much

Friendship Showdown: Preliminary Round #4
Propaganda:
Percy de Rolo & Keyleth of the Air Ashari (Critical Role): no propaganda submitted (ART BY @drawsmaddy)
Kendal and Alinua (Aurora): Oh my gosh these two. So Alinua is a superpowered life mage/vessel to an eldritch entity who lived in total isolation for most of her life. Kendal is living in the body of a god whose soul was captured, so despite looking like an average adult human he's an absolute tank. But also 2 weeks old. Neither of them have any (any *recent* in Alinua's case, any *at all* for Kendal) social experience and are awkward as fuck at first except for around each other. Alinua finds Kendal and takes him in to heal him without a second thought despite fearing herself and her powers, and when her powers get under control she doesn't hesitate to leave her home and go on his quest with him. They've taken turns being the voice of reason to each other, sometimes successfully, and sometimes babydoll eyes ensue and they add a possessed hubris wizard to the party. Neither of them place enough value on their own lives not to be stupid reckless, so they keep trying to die for each other, so they also keep having to save each other. Alinua keeps having to fret over Kendal because he gets himself hurt and she's the designated party healer. Kendal, unfortunately, has to be yelled at before realizing that sacrificing himself for her and their friends at any given chance is unwise and emotionally taxing for everyone involved. Seriously. They care about one another so so much that they forget that even though both of them are very powerful, they have their limits, and they need to look out for themselves, too.
Yuko Omori and Seiji Sagara (Happiness Charge Precure): no propaganda submitted

Hi!!! đ I see that you open your requests & Iâm so excited! And I also saw that you just finished succession so I just wanted to ask, do you have any interest in writing for any of the men from there because I have such a soft spot for Connor even though I know nobody writes for him. Completely fine if you have no plans to though I just wanted to ask!
Hi there! Aww thank you so much! And yes, oh my gosh I'm stilling lowkey reeling over the ending of that show - it was so good!
Honestly, I have always kinda considered it, so you know - let's try it! I can't promise how "in-character" they'll be, but I'd love to give it a shot! So, if you want to send in a request please do! (and it doesn't have to be from the drabble list)
That goes for anyone else too! I'll give writing for Kendall, Roman, and Connor a shot! Let's see how this goes! â¤ď¸

completely agree about kendall/roman. this fandom has this weird take on roman where he's just a baby and needs to be protected at all costs blablabla... like this man has no problem with fascism, in fact, he supports it, he's also unbelievably cruel with his siblings whenever he feels like it and that's alright but the second someone gives him a taste of his own medicine that person is labelled a monster, i really really don't get it
oh my gosh yeah. lol frankly the majority of fandom discourse surrounding those two at the moment is baffling to say the least. i love both characters but i recognize their many, many, many faults. they've both done terrible things. but i find the coddling of Roman atm and the demonization of Kendall to be ridiculous and also an incredibly shallow reading of both characters.
cause yes, Roman's breakdown at Logan's funeral during the euology was heartbreaking to watch and i felt for him but, lets not forget... just 24 hours prior, he was making disgusting racist jokes about black and Jewish people and gleefully installing a known fascist as president. a man with whom he aligns completely with politically and ideologically. Mencken is described in the show as 'the nightmare' and Roman has been pro-Mencken since last season.
also not an hour before the same funeral he made truly some of the most gross incestuous jokes at his baby sister's expense after she told him she was pregnant. and those jokes amount to sexual harassment.
Roman is KNOWN to be super inappropriate with Shiv all the time and it is a pattern and i doubt it started in their adulthood. its something he's been doing no doubt since they were kids.
he also blatantly sexually harassed Gerri by sending her pictures of his genitals. and i find that fandom kinda laughs that off but Gerri, at the end of the day, was a woman asking him to not do that anymore and he continued. just cause Roman delivers his cruelty with a funny joke and a giggle doesn't mean he's not being abusive.
and if we're talking about Kendall not being sensitive to Roman last episode by telling him that he 'fucked it up' with Mencken. i remember distinctly last season, when it was clear that Kendall was at his lowest ebb, Roman was relentlessly cruel to Kendall. pushed him to the ground at his birthday party, was involved in the surveilling of Iverson and Sophie and only stopped because Kendall literally broke down in Italy into a sobbing heap in front of him and Shiv.
and Roman used the same line 'you fucked it' when Kendall expressed that he tried to do what he thought was the right thing at the time.
even when Kendall passively tried to unalive himself, Roman was glib about it. so while i feel for Roman right now, i don't think he should be woobiefied??? or babied?? that kind of shit is the opposite of everything this show stands for tbh...
Roman has suffered yes, but i'm not about to play abuse Olympics when it comes to the siblings and the hurt they've ALL had to contend with.
#roman roy#succession hbo#mai talks tv#anon.txt#replies#yeah miss me with the ROMAN HAS SUFFERED MORE THAN ANY OF THE SIBLINGS!!! mess#i've been seeing that sooo much these last few days#like just cause Roman had a breakdown.......it erases the fact that he is a terrible person???#the same way Kendall having a myriad of issues doesn't exempt him from being a shitty father right now.#i can hold two thoughts in my head. Kendall is fucked up. AND Kendall is a neglectful father and emotionally dismissive to his kids.#idk why that way of thinking can't be applied to ALL of the characters on this show lol

your recent succession meta post is interesting bc i always feel like kendall gets babygirled/woobifyed way more than shiv and roman lol. especially on twitter/reddit at least, roman is often afforded little nuance regarding the whole mencken situation and âbut fascistâ is kind of used as a gotcha @ anyone who dares suggest heâs even on par with shiv and kendall, let alone not as bad as either of them (which is not how i feel mind you lol.) and then shiv is just so demonised and arguably less humanised and sympathetic. personally i think itâs a pointless argument and theyâre all bad but all have good in them. i do think itâs p much canon that roman was hit the most though so im interested in your pov there? we only see logan hit roman, and itâs brought up by both shiv and kendall and made out to be something specific to him
(x)
Oh, I definitely think Shiv gets the worst treatment and is regarded with the least nuance, but honestly, while that's forever disappointing, it's not surprising. Having survived many a fandom (including Breaking Bad, which was I think one of the worst for it's treatment of the women characters), it's the status quo and an indication of broader social views of women that rob them of agency and interiority. Gosh, even Kieran's not immune to it given the way he spoke about Willa and Connor's relationship and Justine Lupe's very elegant response to that. It's not necessarily malicious, it just shows how pervasive those sorts of views are.
And I'm sure it's different on different social media platforms. I'm not really on twitter or reddit anymore at all, so can't speak to them, but it doesn't surprise me that there are spaces where Roman is afforded less nuance. They're all complicated characters, and like I said in my original post, it does seem to be swings and roundabouts with the way characters are treated. At the end of the day, they're all deeply flawed and complex characters and they're all compelling across the board.
Re: the abuse - all of the Roy cast actors have talked about the fact that Logan hit all four of the kids, some probably less than others, but still - all four. We've only ever seen him hit Roman the once, but we've seen him come at Kendall and have to be pulled back, and I've talked about it in another post, but the blocking of the way Logan hit Iverson with Kendall out of focus behind his son to me read as a flashback without using a literal flashback.
Personally, I do think Logan probably hit Roman the most (although I actually don't think physical violence was especially common - Logan's rarely needed it to intimidate his children and the shock it was met with I think is telling), but I don't think the fact that Kendall and Shiv talk about it the way they do is indicative of them not having been hit themselves. I actually talked about this pretty extensively in this post if you're interested in a more detailed answer, but basically I think that Kendall and Shiv are the most in-denial about what they experienced, and I think the shared history they have in growing up together after Roman was sent to St Andrew's allowed them to create a shared narrative of themselves as the favoured children.
In other words, they lie to themselves, and they have that lie reinforced by each other. Roman's the one who got hit because he was the weak one. What happened to them is irrelevant, because they're the 'chosen ones'.
#i do think kendall is still woobified too anon#but i did agree with the original anon too in that i think kendall was treated with less nuance in s4 too#like a good example is the focus on kendall getting mencken elected to spite shiv#which it was#but that spite was born out of a genuine vulnerability from him earlier and her lying to him in the face of that#was what he did terrible and petty?#absolutely!#kendall is terrible and petty haha#but his choice is more complicated than just spite#and also gets to the heart of the show#which is that vulnerability and honesty is a soft-belly offered up to the claws of self-interest and he felt like he was bleeding#and so he punished her for it#and the world suffered as a result#hbo succession#kendall roy#roman roy#shiv roy#logan roy#cw abuse#welcome to my ama#succession meta

oh gosh, i just saw the first two episodes of succession and wtf, it's so well done, it totally sucked me in... a bunch of disgusting, hollow macchiavellians that have trauma written all over their punchably arrogant faces?! yeeah, i live for that... no, seriously, i am very intrigued. by roman whose zero-fucks-given attitude speaks to my soul in a somber tone because it yells poor coping and inner void, by shiv because when smart women get manipulative, they can outmanipulate anyone and she is damn smart, and by kendall just so fucking eager to prove himself but i- as for now- can't really see the CEO material; yes he's got a plotting mind, a modernising vision, and is ruthless to an extent but he looks too... insecure underneath it (then again, i've seen next to nothing of the show but he gives me a strong vibe of a little boy lost in a big world, he wants to play with the adults so bad but sorry hun, you're not quite there yet, watch and learn...), and by greg who might be a hirsch but he totally is a roy because he has no moral compass whatsoever and i feel like he's going to fit in with his fam...
oh. so many feelings about this. plus the opening credits?!!? mesmerising, to say the least. the theme has such a wistful touch of nostalgia, it struck me as an amusement-park-like tune before i even knew they had anything to do at all with the parks.. maybe it is just me, that it reminds me of something i don't even remember, related to circus or lunaparks.. but it definitely gives off the vibe of lost childhood, lost innocence, i could write an essay only about the intro but this has gotten annoyingly long already so i better cut off the gushing and actually watch the show to have something of substance to say... just wanted to share the excitement^^ because i rarely see something that clutches at my very heart like this on so many levels...
#got something like a week at home between my formation and start of the work#gotta make a use of it^^#and what better way than a superb tv show that has been wrapped up#(yeah i have quite some issues with the shows still in the making.. cant help it..)#succession

So I guess this is a Succession S2 finale reaction post + a review of season 2 as a whole.
On one hand, the Con-head stuff is delightful. On the other hand, I feel like a fan of the Muskratâbut Connor is fictional, so it's fine.
The writers completely predicted that we would love the firstbump.
Roman is such a great character. They're (almost) all great characters. I love that he gets a chance to shine.
Gosh Connor is so hot.
I'm enjoying this episode simply thanks to the vacation vibes.
Some stuff hits close to home though...
I really enjoy Tom and Shiv as a couple because sometimes they're incompatible but other times, like when they discuss the threesome, they're trying to support each other anyway.
HAHAHAHAAHAHA no but for real don't let it be Gerri I love her. And Roman subtly supports her too! Roman is on fire this episode. And this whole scene is excellent, truly comedy genius. Matthew MacFayden plays the pathetic loser expertly.
Gerri must be respected as well.
Tom really is a pathetic little meow meow, I can't help but pity him.
So Stewy comes to the rescue and naturally enjoys it a lot. He's tired (as am I) of Ken's baseless, stupid, infantile speeches. Stewy is me?!
"Thank you for the chicken is a great scene."
So after making us agonize, Logan picks Kendall. It's a betrayal, of course, of the one who's been his lapdog for a whole season. Hopefully this triggers a change in Kendall, because while seeing less of him this season was great, I was almost beginning to warm up to him.
"The truth is that my father is malignant presence, a bully and a liar..."
oh. what.
so that makes it much more interesting. Kendall finally had agency in his own story! That's good.
tier list time! Stewy went up because he's the one bitch who sees everything as it is. Roman went up because he finally got compelling moments this season. Rhea had an annoying voice but I enjoyed making fun of her so she's fun too. Greg went down! I'm sorry Greg, your shtick is limited, your role doesn't have much range and as it is, you're simply unneeded. Mom Roy was very interesting to see but I needed more. Ken's girlfriend is fine but doesn't amount to much, I always wonder who she is because I keep forgetting her. Kendall went up! Good for him.
Logan got some losses this season and was better, but he's still, you know, Logan. But he was better this season. And overall, the season itself was much better, notably thanks to not having a shitty final episode. Looking at my grades, only eps 2 & 3 went below 8/10. Meanwhile, in S1, only 3 episodes went *above* 7/10 (6, 7 and 9) while the finale achieved the lowest grade for now, 3/10.
I just reread my review of the first season and I still stand by it.
Let's consider my conclusion:
I absolutely still consider the curtains make people think more of the show than what it actually is. It could be more funny, more incisive, more fun. However, S2 was a clear improvement on that front. We got more of the other characters, thanks to Kendall staying in the background and Logan being put down a few times.
And I know *what* happens in 4x03 and honestly can't wait to be there. Maybe then will the show be finally what it aims to be: excellent.
