InkTober 2017 nr 17; “Graceful”. K14 Lea, an adult female Southern Resident born in 1977 and mother to K26 Lobo, K36 Yoda and K42 Kelp. I had to use today’s prompt because if orca’s are anything it’s graceful, especially under water. Love the Tan paper, even it’s a little more work because of the whiting. I started this InkTober to try and raise awareness about the Southern Residents but when people with the power to make a significant change to improve the lives of these endangered whales says “people need salmon too”, I’m beginning to lose hope. We don’t need salmon, we want it. We have a choice to catch or eat something different, they don’t. For more information, please visit these websites; wildsalmon.org whaleresearch.com SRKWCSI.org

A message from @pnwprotectors Orca awesomeness via: © @dcarter786 💦Breach!💦 1. What K26 (Lobo) is doing in this photo. 2. What we need to do to the Lower Snake River Dams ASAP • Yesterday was an international day of protest for the SRKWs. Over 1,000 calls were placed to Governor Jay Inslee’s office! If you didn’t get to call @govinslee you still can! Or you can send letters and messages. It doesn’t matter where you live, just mention breaching the dams in 2018! 👍🏽 ☎️:(360)902-4111 . . . #southernresidentkillerwhales #srkw #nofishnoblackfish #thisiswhatextinctionlookslike #freethesnake #nowornever #killerwhale #orca #salishsea #pacificnorthwest https://www.instagram.com/p/Bod8lpiB-LP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1j9uey2tlhu1k

Encounter #40 (Sequence 1) - Sept 5, 2020
NOTE: As far as I know, this encounter hasn’t officially announced as being released by the Center for Whale Research (via email that they send out when they’ve posted an encounter). Because of this, some pictures might be added at a later date if they ever send out an email and I have ID some of the whales to the best of my ability as some of the pictures had no captions, but IDable photos. I’ve done IDs to the best of my ability and if you notice a mistake, feel free to point it out and I’ll fix it asap.
