I saw someone saying that 2012â2017 felt a lot longer than 2017â2022 and holy fuck they're right.
Probably because 2020â2022 has felt like one long never-ending year and it's still not over.
#i am so tired#want the sweet release of death#it's not just that. all of our support systems have broken down completely by now#for Sri Lankans it started in 2019 with the Easter Sunday bomb blasts that took out 3 major hotels and 3 churches#then covid in 2020â2021#the economic crisis building at the end of 2021#the protests consuming the whole country between FebruaryâJuly#then everything going to shit with Ranil's clown government#I went suicidal three times this year and only nursing Garfield saved me#and then he died and Ive been in a fugue for the last month and a half#nothing matters and everything feels futile#oh yeah you guys only got rid of Trump at the end of 2020#It feels like 4 years already lol#wtf news#knee of huss

I just want to put it out there, for anyone new who has followed recently ( or anyone who has been a long time follower), that asks/submissions/and threads are closed and going through a phase of clean up! 8D I promise, I'll get my stuff back in order again soon (I REALLY want to finish my art piece first because it will be front and center on my blog's background and such and I'm too excited to see it come together) But this means I am going to have a TOTAL clean out. Clearing my ask box, clearing all threads. I want to start over without the pains of moving blogs lol. Same rakan, new everything else haha. I hate to delete things, but I haven't truly been active on Rakan for a year due to life, and I'm just now starting to get my passion for writing back. So thank you for your patience with me. I love my golden chaos birb and I can't wait to throw him at peeps again.

Gosh It's already been 4 y e a r s#&&. seems like it was only a few months ago that twinnie and I stumbled upon rakan and xayah's cinematic by accident#&&. and didn't know league at all but damn they intrigued us so fast LOL#&&. ooc ( a mun who isn't as graceful as her muse )

they have a point though. you wouldn't need everyone to accommodate you if you just lost weight, but you're too lazy to stick to a healthy diet and exercise. it's that simple. I'd like to see you back up your claims, but you have no proof. you have got to stop lying to yourselves and face the facts
Must I go through this again? Fine. FINE. You guys are working my nerves today. You want to talk about facing the facts? Let's face the fucking facts.
In 2022, the US market cap of the weight loss industry was $75 billion [1, 3]. In 2021, the global market cap of the weight loss industry was estimated at $224.27 billion [2].Â
In 2020, the market shrunk by about 25%, but rebounded and then some since then [1, 3] By 2030, the global weight loss industry is expected to be valued at $405.4 billion [2]. If diets really worked, this industry would fall overnight.Â

"[Latest] Global Weight Loss and Weight Management Market Size/Share Worth." Facts and Factors Research. 3. LaRosa, J. March 27, 2023. "U.S. Weight Loss Market Partially Recovers from the Pandemic." Market Research Blog.
Over 50 years of research conclusively demonstrates that virtually everyone who intentionally loses weight by manipulating their eating and exercise habits will regain the weight they lost within 3-5 years. And 75% will actually regain more weight than they lost [4].

The annual odds of a fat person attaining a so-called ânormalâ weight and maintaining that for 5 years is approximately 1 in 1000Â [5].

Doctors became so desperate that they resorted to amputating parts of the digestive tract (bariatric surgery) in the hopes that it might finally result in long-term weight-loss. Except that doesnât work either. [6] And it turns out it causes death [7], addiction [8], malnutrition [9], and suicide [7].

Fatness was associated with only 1/3 the associated deaths that previous research estimated and being âoverweightâ conferred no increased risk at all, and may even be a protective factor against all-causes mortality relative to lower weight categories [19].
19. Flegal, Katherine M. âThe Obesity Wars and the Education of a Researcher: A Personal Account.â Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 15 June 2021.
Studies have observed that about 30% of so-called ânormal weightâ people are âunhealthyâ whereas about 50% of so-called âoverweightâ people are âhealthyâ. Thus, using the BMI as an indicator of health results in the misclassification of some 75 million people in the United States alone [20].Â

While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national obesity rates (nearly 35% for adults and 18% for kids), the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25âbranding roughly 29 million Americans as fat overnightâto match international guidelines. But critics noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs [21].

Healthy lifestyle habits are associated with a significant decrease in mortality regardless of baseline body mass index [23]. Â

Weight stigma itself is deadly. Research shows that weight-based discrimination increases risk of death by 60% [24].
24. Sutin, Angela R., et al. âWeight Discrimination and Risk of Mortality .â Association for Psychological Science, 25 Sept. 2015.
Fat stigma in the medical establishment [25] and society at large arguably [26] kills more fat people than fat does [27, 28, 29].

In 2018, BDS urged Netflix to dump Fauda, a series created by former members of IOF death squads that legitimizes and promotes racist violence and war crimes, to no avail. Please warn others to not give this series any views. BDS has not called for a boycott of Netflix. ]

From River To The Sea Palestine Will Be Free đ”đžđ”đžđ”đž
-----
Edit 1: took the first video down because turns out the animator is a terf and it links to her blog. Really sorry for any distress.
Edit 2: All recommended readings + Haymarket recommendations + essential decolonization texts have been uploaded to my linked gdrive. I will adding more periodically. Please do buy or check them out from the library if possible, but this post was made for and by poor and gatekept Global South bitches like me.
Some have complained about the memes being disrespectful. You're actually legally obligated to make fun of Israeli propaganda and Zionists. I don't make the rules.
Edit 3: "The river to the sea" does not mean the expulsion of Jews from Palestine. Believing that is genocide apologia.
Edit 4: Gazans have specifically asked us to put every effort into pushing for a ceasefire instead of donations. "Raising humanitarian aid" is a grift Western governments are pushing right now to deflect from the fact that they're sending billions to Israel to keep carpet bombing Gazans. As long as the blockades are still in place there will never be enough aid for two million people. (UPDATE: PLEASE DONATE to the Gazan's GoFundMe fundraisers to help them buy food and get out of Rafah into Egypt. E-SIMs, food and medical supplies are also essential. Please donate to the orgs linked in the How You Can Help. Go on the strikes. DO NOT STOP PROTESTING.)
Edit 5: Google drive link for academic books folder has been fixed. Also have added a ton of resources to all the other folders so please check them out.
Edit 6: Added interactive maps, Jadaliya channel, and masterlists of donation links and protest support and of factsheets.
The twitter accounts I reposted as it was given to me and I just now realized it had too many Israeli voices and almost none of the Palestinians I'm following, so it's being edited. (Update: done!) also removed sources like Jewish Voices of Peace and Breaking the Silence that do good work but have come under fair criticism from Palestinians.
Edit 7: Complete reformatting
Edit 8: Complete revamping of the social media section. It now reflects my own following list.
Edit 9: removed some more problematic people from the allies list. Remember that the 2SS is a grift that's used to normalize violence and occupation, kids. Supporting the one-state solution is lowest possible bar for allyship. It's "Free Palestine" not "Free half of Palestine and hope Israel doesn't go right back to killing them".
Edit 10: added The Palestine Directory + Al Jazeera documentary + Addameer. This "100 links per post" thing sucks.
Edit 11: more documentaries and films
Edit 12: reformatted reading list
Edit 13: had to remove @palipunk's masterlist to add another podcast. It's their pinned post and has more resources Palestinian culture and crafts if you want to check it out
Edit 14 6th May '24: I've stopped updating this masterlist so some things, like journalists still left in Gaza and how to support the student protests are missing. I've had to take a step back and am no longer able to track these things down on my own, and I've hit the '100 links per post' limit, but if you can leave suggestions for updates along with links in either the replies or my asks I will try and add them.
Edit 15 10th August: added to Palestinian allies list and reworked the Help for Palestine section. There's been a racist harrassment campaign against the Palestinian Tumblrs that vetted the Gaza fundraisers based off one mistake made by a Gazan who doesn't understand English. If you're an ally, shut that shit down. Even if you donate to a scam GFM, you're only out some coffee money; if everyone stops donating to all the GFMs in fear of scams, those families die.
