La série Juste Cause sera écrite par Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay With This). Aucune date pour le moment.

‘Servant’ is Apple TV+ sleeper contender at Golden Globes
“The Haunting of Hill House” meets “Homecoming” — that could be Apple’s pitch to awards voters for “Servant,” its new half-hour drama premiering November 28. With the narrative transpiring entirely inside (and occasionally on the block just outside) a Philadelphia townhouse, “Servant” compensates for set pieces with atmospheric directing led by M. Night Shyalaman, complete with the long takes that were critically acclaimed hallmarks of the other aforementioned streaming series. Although there are flourishes of horror, like in the title sequence reminiscent of “The Haunting of Hill House,” this is a psychological thriller that builds tension with incomplete memories and unconventional framing in the vein of “Homecoming.” Still on hiatus, fellow half-hour “Homecoming” leaves nomination slots open at the Golden Globe Awards this year for Best Drama Series, Actress and Actor that could be filled by “Servant.” The “Homecoming” nomination recognized past favorite Sam Esmail, who had won the same prize for creating “Mr. Robot.” A Best Series nomination for “Servant” would honor executive producer Shyalaman, a past nominee on the film side for “The Sixth Sense.” Both “Homecoming” and “Servant” pair a more-celebrated lead actress with a rising-star lead actor (Julia Roberts and Stephan James in the case of “Homecoming”). A two-time Emmy nominee for “Six Feet Under,” Lauren Ambrose has top billing in “Servant,” but her co-star Toby Kebbell might stand an even better chance at a nomination. Kebbell has the benefit of lighter competition, as his category has only one incumbent nominee in contention: Billy Porter (“Pose”). Kebbell also has the more sympathetic role opposite Ambrose, whose character is occasionally prone to theatrics, so the narrative favors his character’s perspective, especially in the 2019 episodes that are technically eligible for consideration. A past BAFTA nominee for the Rising Star Award, Kebbell has been widely seen on television in the “Black Mirror” first season finale and in film through his motion-capture performances in the “Fantastic Four,” “Kong” and “Planet of the Apes” franchises. A Best Drama Actor nomination for him would be a logical follow-up to the recent nominations in the same category for Stephan James (“Homecoming”), Freddie Highmore (“The Good Doctor”) and Rami Malek (“Mr. Robot”), recognizing breakthrough performances by actors with years of respectable credits. Between its confined setting and small main cast rounded out only by Nell Tiger Free (Myrcella Baratheon in “Game of Thrones”) “and” Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in “Harry Potter”), this is a show that focuses squarely on its performances, often in close-up. The Globes have taken to the acting especially in half-hour dramas over the years. Lead actress Riley Keough received the lone nomination for “The Girlfriend Experience;” the last Best Drama Series nominee to receive four acting nominations for a single season was half-hour “In Treatment,” including a win for lead actor Gabriel Byrne. The Globes reflect the international sensibilities of Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s voting membership. An “In Treatment” producer even remarked back then, “The show has a lot of international appeal and a very international cast, so I think that’s why the Golden Globes took more notice than the Emmys.” This bodes surprisingly well for “Servant” because despite its American characters and setting, three quarters of its series regulars, as well as its writer Tony Basgallop (“24,” BAFTA-nominated for “To the Ends of the Earth”), are English, with Shyalaman being Indian-born. Buzz for “Servant” has been quiet and the show will not even premiere until after voting for nominations closes, but the Globes love to discover shows and Apple has provided all 10 episodes from the first season to the press. Best Movie/Limited Series nominee “Escape at Dannemora” aired November 18 to December 30 last year; Patricia Arquette won Best Movie/Limited Actress on January 6 for it over Connie Britton, whose “Dirty John” aired November 25 to January 13. Two years ago, the first season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was released on November 29, announced as a nominee on December 11 for Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Actress for Rachel Brosnahan, then won those awards on January 7. This will likely be the most critically acclaimed show to debut on Apple TV+ in 2019, so buzz should build considerably when the review embargo lifts on November 20, giving voters time to sample it before ballotting closes on November 25. Calling it Apple’s best show, NPR‘s David Bianculli explains, ” ‘Servant’ is so good, so unpredictable and so unsettling, it’s worth waiting for.” https://www.goldderby.com/article/20...an-3842059611/

A-list celebrities we can expect to see at TIFF next September
Dev Patel and Armie Hammer
Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel and Call Me by Your Name lead Armie Hammer star in Hotel Mumbai, a true story about the victims and survivors of the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. Both actors are regular TIFF-goers: in 2015, Patel participated in the absurd “pointing at people in photos” trend and last year, Hammer spent his time partying and grocery shopping.
Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga
Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star is Born, has its North American premiere at TIFF this year. He co-stars as a country musician who falls in love with a struggling artist played by Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga.
Jason Sudeikis and Judy Greer
American comedian Jason Sudeikis and Arrested Development actress Judy Greer star in Driven, a drama based on a true story about the rise and fall of engineer, inventor and auto king John DeLorean. Sudeikis was big on the party circuit for last year’s premier of Kodachrome. Here’s to hoping his wife, fellow Hollywood star Olivia Wilde, tags along this year.
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem
The married couple co-star in Everybody Knows, a Spanish psychological drama about a wedding gone awry, which will have its North American premiere at TIFF. Both actors are festival regulars, and last year, Bardem was spotted drinking wine at Byblos.
Julia Roberts
Long time fan favourite Julia Roberts stars in Amazon Studios’ upcoming TV series Homecoming, which will screen four episodes as part of TIFF’s Primetime Program. She’s been known to indulge in some local shopping while she’s in town.
Ryan Gosling
The Canadian favourite will likely return to his home province for the premiere of First Man, in which he plays astronaut Neil Armstrong on his journey to the moon. He was last here for La La Land in 2016; in between screenings, he partied at Lavelle.
Elle Fanning
TIFF darling Elle Fanning will likely show up for Galveston, a thriller by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto where she plays a young prostitute. Fanning attended the festival in 2012 and again in 2017, when she walked the red carpet in an Alexander McQueen dress.
Julianne Moore
A festival favourite, Julianne Moore will likely return to Toronto for the world premiere of Gloria Bell, an English remake of the 2013 film Gloria about a free-spirited divorcée. Expect to see her frolicking around the city with her bodyguards in tow.
Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen
In Green Book, scheduled to have its world premiere at TIFF, Danish-American actor Viggo Mortensen plays a working-class bouncer who is forced to chauffeur a classical pianist (Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali) through the deep South, combatting racism and danger along the way. Oscar winner Ali was one of TIFF’s breakout stars of 2016.
Robert Pattinson
Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson stars in French filmmaker Claire Denis’ High Life, playing a criminal sent into outer space. It’s the film’s world premiere, which means the chances of everyone’s favourite vampire making an appearance are high. Pattinson was last here in 2014 with then-girlfriend FKA Twigs.(And who knows, maybe this time around he’ll bring Suki Waterhouse.)
Jonah Hill
Regarded as one of the funniest people in film and television, Jonah Hill will make his directorial debut at TIFF with Mid90s, a coming-of-age comedy about a teenage boy who gets in with a neighbourhood skateboard crew. Hill was last at the festival in 2011 and is known to crowd-source restaurant recommendations.
Matthew McConaughey
Over the years, Matthew McConaughey has had some legendary TIFF moments—most notably in 2001, when he leapt from his seat during a premiere to tend to a woman in the audience who had collapsed. He might be back in town this year for White Boy Rick, a mystery drama about a blue-collar dad (played by McConaughey) and his teenage son, who happens to be a hustler, FBI informant and drug kingpin. The film is set in Detroit in the 1980s and based on a true story.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan
In the upcoming emotional drama Wildlife, Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal star as a couple whose marriage crumbles after they move to Montana. Both actors were at TIFF last year, though Mulligan was a bit more low-key than puppy-lover and Terroni devotee Gyllenhaal (who also stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly and Riz Ahmed in the dark comedy The Sisters Brothers, set to have its North American premiere at the festival).
Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet
Chalamet was at TIFF last year for the Call Me By Your Name premiere, but that was before he became a heartthrob. This year, he stars alongside Steve Carell in Beautiful Boy, a new drama about a family coping with their son’s addiction to methamphetamine, and he’ll probably be swarmed by throngs of teenage girls wherever he goes.
Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, Liam Neeson, Jacki Weaver, Colin Farrell and Michelle Rodriguez
Steve McQueen’s Widows (co-written by Gone Girl‘s Gillian Flynn) has gotten some good press since it was announced, so we expect a decent turnout from the cast. In this female-led heist thriller, four women find themselves in debt after their criminal husbands are killed.

TV Talk: Issue 2
Can’t Wait to Watch
Some upcoming shows to watch:
Black Earth Rising starring Michaela Coel and John Goodman, premiered on Sept. 10. I am just as confused as you are about that combination. It should be on Netflix soon and then we can all watch it.
Four Weddings and a Funeral is coming to Hulu as a series written by Mindy Kaling. I don’t know when it’s premiering, but let’s all watch the original movie to prepare.
Camping starring David Tennant (pictured above) and Jennifer Garner will premiere on HBO in October. I love camping and watching TV so this already sounds great.
Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill will premiere on Sept. 21 on Netflix. It’s based on a Norwegian show and has been described as a “dark comedy.” Daniel D’Addario wrote a positive review of it for Variety and I usually don’t agree with him because his opinions suck. Hopefully, this show is good and his opinions are better now, but we’ll see.
The Good Place returns September 27! Found this gem on Twitter to get everyone excited.
You is a new creepy, stalker thriller starring Penn Badgley. I think it already premiered, but I’m not sure how to stream it yet. Where do Lifetime shows go to stream?
Homecoming is a new show coming to Amazon in November. I have no idea what this show is about. Julia Roberts is in it and that’s honestly all I need to know.

Homecoming S2: The most fun you’ll have with an evil company this spring
Enlarge / Name? Date of birth? Home address? “I don’t know.”
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Warning: This story references happenings from Homecoming S1 but tries to avoid any major spoilers for FX’s Devs and the new second season of Homecoming.
Sometimes Hollywood at large seems to embrace the infamous Google strategy: make two of everything and see what sticks. Who recently asked for twin dog-as-best-friend-but-end-of-life tearjerkers? And did audiences need dual “Nikola Tesla races to make electricity” biopics starring beloved heartthrobs? (In a world where The Prestige already exists, probably not.)
This spring, streaming TV got in on this strategy, too. A pair of shows centered on secretive, shady startups—companies doing almost otherworldly things that piqued government interest but really complicated an employee’s life—each arrived with star-boasting casts and filmmaking pedigrees behind the camera. Like a dutiful TV reviewer, I watched the first four episodes of both series. Despite each having oodles of style, one felt opaque and unnecessarily complex, like piecing together a puzzle without knowing what the full picture was at the start.
And the other is Amazon’s Homecoming, which hits Prime with seven new episodes this weekend. (Apologies to FX’s Devs, which I’ll likely never finish.)
youtube
Janelle Monáe stars in Homecoming season 2, coming soon to Amazon Prime.
Still stylish
Though Homecoming lost some high profile talent ahead of S2—Julia Roberts’ character doesn’t appear and Sam Esmail did not direct any of these episodes—you wouldn’t call this show depleted after watching this new run of episodes. In her first starring TV role, Janelle Monáe is as captivating as ever. She plays a woman named Jackie who is struggling to remember how precisely she ended up alone and passed out on a boat in the middle of a remote lake. And instead of Bobby Cannavale representing our main corporate cog for the Geist behemoth, Hong Chau (the actor behind Lady Trieu of Watchmen) reprises her role as Audrey. Her corporate exec of few words was last seen as a pseudo-big bad at the very end of S1, but she gets fleshed out quite a bit here.
Jackie’s journey and the dynamic between Jackie and Audrey might be the most thrilling parts of these new episodes, similar to how the conversations between Roberts and Stephan James as Walter ended up as S1’s most riveting part. The only disadvantage for Chau and Monáe comes from circumstance: Roberts and James had the benefit of Geist’s overall product and scheme being a mystery that our two main characters learned and navigated together with the audience. This time around, audiences have a lot more info, taking away a bit of the show’s intrigue and tension. If story felt secondary at times to the performances for you in S1, that dynamic will be amplified here.
The chemistry between its leads, of course, was only half of Homecoming’s initial appeal. Mr. Robot creator Sam Email had generously applied his small screen cinematic lens, using different aspect ratios, lens filters, and a robust palette of ’70s film homages. New director Kyle Patrick Alvarez did previous work on Starz visually inventive Counterpart, so he appears to have the chops to carry over some of S1’s same visual language (with the emphasis on “some,” given how inventive Esmail has always been). For Alvarez, S2’s premier in particular feels delightfully Hitchcock-ian, as Jackie at times seems engulfed by large pines or encased in a spooky motel straight out of Twin Peaks.
As for the story unfolding in these episodes, well, that’s where Devs comes in.
Janelle Monáe stars as a mysterious woman who wakes up in a rowboat on a lake with no memory of who she is.
Geist Emergent Group, the company behind the Homecoming Initiative, might be involved.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Stephan James reprises his S1 role as Walter Cruz.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Also back: S1’s Audrey (Hong Chau), an assistant at Geist Emergent Group.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Remember that S1 post-credits scene? It’s relevant to S2.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
The memory-erasing drug is gearing up for mass production, it seems.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Chris Cooper plays Leonard Geist, who begins to have doubts about his company’s business.
YouTube/Amazon Prime
Prestige isn’t the point
Understanding the plot of Homecoming S2 absolutely requires a “previously on” montage. Rather than Shea Wigham detectiving into a new case (sidebar: nothing ever improves by losing Shea Wigham), these episodes revolve around the same basic happenings—just from new perspectives. We’re again watching the Geist signature product being cultivated and applied, the government still contracts with them to do unsavory things, Walter Cruz still endures some less-than-ideal circumstances.
As such, any mysteries (like, why is Janelle Monáe left out to sea again?) are a bit narrower in comparison to S1. We’re not watching plot gain momentum toward a grand conclusion; we’re largely learning about more of the plot’s mechanics, the stuff previously in the background.
This sounds bland when you spell it out like that, but some of the best television shows in recent memory have deployed this basic concept to an extent. Watchmen gave viewers multiple perspectives of the same events in consecutive episodes; Better Call Saul is entirely about the mechanics of how one bad guy lawyer grew into his sleeze. Homecoming is not of the same caliber, but this show knows the story it’s telling and commits to exploring it from new angles. S2 has a confined plot and commits to revealing it stylishly, succinctly (with this and I Am Not Okay With This, half-hour drama remains my favorite bingeable format), and with new likable characters. (In addition to Jackie and Audrey, Geist himself makes an appearance, played by Chris Cooper of “rage-y neighbor in American Beauty” fame.) This season ain’t cracking TV’s Mount Rushmore or Alan Sepinwall’s Top 20 of 2020, but it’s thoroughly enjoyable (think more Stranger Things S2 than Mr. Robot S2).
That bit of reflection kept taking my mind back to Devs. TV critics generally seemed smitten by that show’s ambition and perplexed by how small Homecoming has set out to be in S2, but I’ve come away feeling the opposite. Devs’ hourlong episodes could be a slog, as the show didn’t seem to know whether it cared more about the kinetic personal action (our “hero” employee trying to get the upper hand and figure out her sinister employer) or about some possibly magical machine with greater philosophical implications. The former is the stuff that kept you going through early episodes, but the latter had so much time devoted to it that you couldn’t help but feel “this must be the point” even as the series didn’t seem to understand how to translate it for everyone sticking with the show. So after four episodes, I stopped, and no “oh, you have to stick it out ’til the finale!” rationale could suck me back in.
Homecoming, on the other hand, never feels overly weighty or chore-ish. The defined focus and faster run time (you could watch all of Homecoming’s two seasons in roughly the same amount of time as Devs’ one) means no sequences feel obviously aimless or like filler. The show has presented what Geist is doing as fact without some mind-occupying takeaway, so instead the series stays most interested in the action. After four episodes, I wanted to see how everything played out and had to stop myself from just “play next”-ing through the whole thing. (Amazon outlined a number of things reviewers couldn’t reveal, and it seemed a number of those things cluster in the season’s second half—temptation avoided.)
To borrow the Hollywood twins analogy once more, one of these evil corporation shows aimed for prestige glory and ended up as The Equalizer. The other knew it wanted to be a competent b-movie the whole time and delivered John Wick. And if being parked on my couch looking for a new show to watch mid-pandemic has taught me anything, it’s that sometimes it’s OK to put the pressure for ambitious greatness on hold for a minute and just enjoy something. As you’d expect, Janelle Monáe guarantees a certain base level of that.

Janelle Monáe Stars In Amazon Prime’s ‘Homecoming’ Season 2 Trailer
Source: Amazon Prime / Amazon
The first season of Amazon Prime‘s Homecoming starred Julia Roberts and the homie from If Beale Street Could Talk (Stephan James) and it was a-ight. Season 2 ups the ante and the new teaser trailer features its star, singer/songwriter and accomplished actress Janelle Monáe.
Source: Amazon Prime / Amazon
Season 2 is a whole new story (well, mystery), and it looks entertainingly weird.
Monáe’s wakes up adrift on a rowboat that’s drifting in a lake, with no recollection of how she got there and who she is. Okay, we’re sold.
Finding out what is going on will lead her to the Geist Group, which if you saw Season 1 guarantees all type of f*ckery will be afoot.
In the first season, Geist was behind the Homecoming Initiative that was supposed to help soldiers deal with PTSD, but they turned out to not really be about what they touted. James returns in his role as Walter Cruz, who participated in the aforementioned Homecoming Initiative. Also returning is Hong Chau as Audrey Temple (you’ll surely remember her as Lady Trieu from HBO’s Watchmen), while Oscar-winner Chris Cooper joins the cast as Leonard Geist, the company’s founder.
Homecoming Season 2 premieres May 22, 2020. Check out the trailer below.

Mr. Robot Final Season Trailer | Screen Rant
If the full trailer is any indiction, the final season of Mr. Robot looks as though it will end the series with a bang. The Emmy-winner from creator Sam Esmail helped turn USA’s programming in a new direction, as the ultra-dark and stylish drama brought mystery, intrigue, and plenty of mind-bending twists to the cable network, becoming one of the most talked about new shows on television in 2015. Since then, the series has had its ups and downs, but after an extended hiatus it will see the story of Elliot Alderson and his imaginary friend Mr. Robot reach what looks to be a bloody conclusion with season 4.
The last time the series was on TV was the season 3 finale, ‘shutdown-r,’ which aired on December 13, 2017. Since then, both Esmail and series star Rami Malek filled their time away from the series by directing and executive producing Amazon’s conspiratorial series Homecoming, with Julia Roberts, and by winning a Best Actor Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. As breaks from your day job go, those aren’t too shabby, but thankfully both Esmail and Malek have returned to make sure the series comes to an end as only Mr. Robot can.

Esmail has teased that Mr. Robot season 4 will be like a long Christmas special, which seems evident in the new trailer, as a mournful holiday tune plays over much of the roughly minute-long video. And while that thematic approach feels oddly fitting for the series, as it allows Esmail to compress a lot of story into a relatively short period of time — something he’s had great success with in the last few seasons — it also makes Mr. Robot’s fall premiere all the more appropriate. Though the series may not garner the same attention as it did in season 1, the promise of bringing the story to a close, combined with Malek’s Oscar win and his casting as the villain in the 25th James Bond adventure, No Time To Die, suggests Mr. Robot season 4 will be on may viewers’ must-watch list.
Unsurprisingly, the trailer doesn’t give away too many details of what’s to come, as there will no doubt be plenty of twists and turns in the road ahead, no matter how short it seems to be at this point. One thing is for sure, though, it looks like Elliot, Mr. Robot, and everyone else involved in the series is in store for one hell of a bloody Christmas.
