Ted's kids are right.

Hear me out. They're his kids. They've grown up hearing stories from their mother. They know how much their dad loved and adored her. They saw how devastated he was when he lost her. I'd bet Robin was the first person he smiled at after Tracey died. He probably still really struggles to talk about her.

So of course he focuses on Robin. Of course he doesn't need to tell them about how much he loved Tracey. They've grown up with that as the one simple and pure fact of the universe. Dad loves Mom. Mom loved Dad.

We are not Ted's audience. His kids are. And Penny and Luke don't need to hear how their parents fell in love. They've heard it a millon different times, a millon different ways.

They need to hear that Dad is ready to move on.
