i love your art and the way your draw and design the clothes for your characters is simply wonderful.
i would be incredibly curious to see your take on either Jane Prentiss or John Amherst magical girl dresses. Leaning towards Jane because we saw less of her than Amherst.
The absolute nightmare that would be Jared Hopworth's outfit omg.
Awwww thank you so much! I've been meaning to draw more of them for SO LONG, but I've been real busy with commissions and my job now.
While I'm still awake here is what I think their outfits would look like Jane: Tattered red gothic lolita dress. Sort of like the one below. Arms and legs exposed of course to show off her worms
Jared: First thing that comes to mind is the Fleshmaiden costime from Alice: Madness Returns. Would have bones covering parts of it to act as armor
John Amherst: Sexy Plague Doctor. I will not elaborate

I know people have mixed feelings about Jon mentioning Smallpox Blanket Amherst next to his own avatar of the Corruption (including Jonny) but I have to admit I quite like it
To me it says that people don't need some mysterious, horrible eldritch power to be monsters, some people just are monsters cuz they choose to be and that's very poignant to me personally
Everyone has the capability to become a monster, with or without the Fears so, in the end, are the Avatars truly that different from us?

Also, I donāt agree with Martin in his belief that a person shouldnāt exist if their existence is dependent on the suffering of others (I mean, in the real world, whoās comfortable existence is not at least somewhat dependent on the suffering/exploitation of others?) But I do respect him for extending that philosophy to himself once he realized it included him. Especially since heās shown time and again how strongly he holds that conviction.
Itās interesting that at this point, aside from Callum (a kid) and possibly Helen (Iām not at the episode with her domain yet so I imagine Iāll find out soon) Jon is his one exception.
Heās known for a while that Jonās continued existence may be dependent on the suffering of others, even before the apocalypse. In 154, he questioned if Jon would be able to survive blinding himself/severing himself from the eye, and in MAG 181, he raises this concern again.
And based on Jonās description of what happened to John Amherst, it doesnāt seem like this is a āsuffer through withdrawal and eventually youāll recoverā situation.
(I mean he was incased in concrete, something a regular human wouldnāt have been able to survive, so I guess we donāt know what wouldāve happened if heād been breathing oxygen, eating three meals a day and voluntarily abstaining from fearā¦ but it wouldnāt exactly be safe or easy for them to experiment and find out)
Despite this, Martin isnāt sure if heād be able to kill Jon. Iām sure heās trying to convince himself that theres a chance both the world and Jon could go back to how they were before the fears, but I think in his heart he knows Jon is unlikely to survive without the eye.
The idea that Martin would ask Jon to kill him if the apocalypse canāt be reversed is also very interesting because Martin knows it wouldnāt help. It wouldnāt ease anyoneās suffering but his own. His victims would still be trapped. If anything, heād cause more suffering by leaving Jon alone. And it doesnāt sound like he would ask for Jon to kill himself afterwards. Death as an escape is a privilege most in this world do not have access to - Salesa refers to it as āthe greatest blessingā his camera gave him. At that point, Martin choosing to die wouldnāt be about making things better, or even about enacting some sort of justice, it would be solely about escaping his own guilt.
And yes, I have seen some spoilers for the end, so I know a lot of this will likely come up in a big way in the finale. I know almost no details though, and Iām still very interested to see how and why we get thereā¦.

I have complicated opinions on the colors of Jon and Jonah's Extra Eyes(TM). I love having Jon's Eyes(TM) be green but since that color choice comes from the logo of the podcast, which is called The Magnus Archives, named after, y'know, Jonah Magnus and his Archives, part of me thinks that Jonah should be the one with green Eyes(TM). but I don't think both Jon and Jonah should have the same color extra Eyes(TM), and I really can't imagine Jon rocking anything other than green. I've read/seen fanworks where Jonah has red Eyes(TM) and while that makes for a good contrast I think "evil = red eyes" is a little overdone. Jonah's eyes are canonically gray so maybe he should have silver Eyes(TM)? that's kind of Athena-esque and pretty fitting, and if it's a black pupil on silver iris on black sclera that's a good contrast.
I dunno, Tl;DR get creative with the colors y'all are so talented and keep up the good work
I love the idea of jon having red eyes. i personally dont see the beholding as red or green but i do imagine jon having red eyes and jonah having either silver or green eyes. i love the reversal of the usual "green eyes = good character" and "red eyes = evil character" !!!!! i think jon having red eyes is completely against his will and he hates it, but jonah's eyes are an aesthetic choice. he swaps between green and silver and it's always depending on what goes better with his outfit of the day.
also you said get creative with colours and i have very strong opinions about asigning colours for the entities so here we go. i also think that these sort of ideas
beholding -> magenta. jonah hates it and gertrude decided on it because he hates it
buried -> brown. i think its one of the only ones i agree with most of the fandom on. karolina is a dark academia girly so its a good shade <3
corruption -> that visceral dark colour between yellow and green. cant describe it any better than that. john amherst likes it bc hes freaky like that, jordan cant stand it
dark -> black :3 callum always says it's neon highlighter coloured, but he is ignored
desolation -> pastel pink, as decided by a young agnes montague
end -> navy blue. originally, oliver liked a dark purple, but georgie has since decided he was wrong
extinction -> green
flesh -> yellow. jared fucking hates it and he has no clue why it's caught on
hunt -> purple!!! like a lavender, pastel purple. i think the decision was a group effort between daisy, melanie and tim
lonely -> grey. peter lukas is the most uncreative fucker and jonah thinks hes basic as shit
slaughter -> purple. melanie says so.
spiral -> orange !!! a mix between yellow and magenta, both chosen by michael and helen :)
stranger -> gold. nikola says red, but danny liked gold and that's how tim chooses to remember him sometimes
vast -> opal!!! like white with loads of reflective rainbow colours mixed in :3!!!!! simon thinks its cool as shit and, reluctantly, mike agrees
web -> green!!! i know we love green beholding here, but the webs on the podcast logo is green!!!!! the webs are green!!!!!!!! rip annabelle cane you wldve HATED purple web!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eughhhiffugi my legs hurt. Walked around college with my mom today because she got accepted so woooo!! Anyways, welcome back to me saying āhuh???ā To TMA S2. Iām your host, you know me, Iāve been posting for the past month š«¶š«¶
MAG 67: Burning Desire
Oh my god Agnes. This further proves my theory that sheās probably not evil???? Like I think she does sone bad stuff like kissing the guy and permanently scarring his face for life but likeā¦she kinda cried?? Also that woman told her something about being āreleasedā so I think itās like some kind of curse? But Agnes shook her head so I donāt know. Maybe it was about being like spiritually bound to that tree or something
MAG 68: The Tale of a Field Hospital
Unironically, this is my favorite minor character in The Magnus Archives. Joseph Russo is such a fanboy and I love it. He was all āand I know Illuminati exists but you donāt have to tell me šā like god Iām howling. So sad heās dead.
The wholeā¦death and disease has been pretty prominent in this season as well. Mostly spiders as weāll see but thereās like a shit ton of illness themes. Also Amherst appearance. Whether itās the same or a different person, Amherst seems to have disease and gross shit follow him around. Like the ants in an earlier episode and that old persons home in Taken Ill. Gross. Ew. Gross.
ALSO āshe seemed far too tallā yeah no shit. Iām literally screaming at my phone please Iām begging you Jon to figure it out
For MAG 69: Great more spiders. My only connection to anything is just the fact there are spiders and thatās been appearing a lot. Also poor Martin, trying to keep everything together š
Not much to say in āBook of the deadā but I liked it a lot. Another book. Surprisingly not Jurgen Leitners. Did not think that was possible.
For MAG 71, I donāt have many connections, again, but it was weird that Karolina was soā¦calm, giving her testimony?? Like usually when people give their statements in the moment, they sound pretty panicked, especially during the more scarier parts but she was flat throughout the whole thing. Iām guessing sheās keeping something hidden from the story and something happened to her. Maybe she got āreplacedā yāknow like with Sasha. Or maybe sheās entirely made of dirt. I mean she was pretty dry
Sorry.
Anyways, someone is living down in the tunnels. I would say itās Gertrude because maybe she faked her death to hide from people but they did find her body. Well Martin did and then the police. But who knows.
Okay thatās everything. Not many revelations but I noticed Iām getting close to the end of season 2! Very exciting. I hope Michael pops up again. Just so I can hear itās creepy ass voice
#the magnus archives#tma#tma podcast#zabala0z thoughts#I think Joseph Russo is funny as hell#something about conspiracy theorist characters just make me giggle a lot#wait Iām literally theorizing right now about a horror podcast#is this projecting or something

Not sure if anyone's done this yet but I'm taking a list of every Jo(h)n mentioned in The Magnus Archives. Started relistening to the series and initially it was a sort of joke I had for myself over how many characters popped up with the name...
The first time it happened, I took note because like? It's somewhere in the first 5 episodes i believe where we get our first John outside of Jon Archivist. I thought it was funny how early they were repeating names but didn't think about it further because "John is a common name"
Then there was another John, the Two Johns who get a cave named after them, a John Doe, two episodes after Doe we get John Amherst's first appearance, then we get our first season 2 John mentioned with episode 45
Is this a bit??? A joke on how common the name is?? That's, if I got it right, 8 Jo(h)ns by episode 45
I'm losing it, truly
#i wish i was keeping track since the start but i only caught on around the cave episode and didnt expect it to keep going like this#the magnus archives#jonathan sims#jon tma#tma podcast#i have a lot of time for podcasts nowadays

Some of my favorite tma episodes that don't get talked about much.
mag 36 Taken Ill: One of the most horrifying Corruption statements ever. First appearance of John Amherst and an early appearance of the Hunt dream team, Trevor and Julia. Also sets up Melanie's father's fate two whole seasons later.
mag 44 Tightrope: first Gertrude statement. Statement giver became a doctor so he could try to understand the Stranger creatures he saw in the "freak show" tent. There's something so horrifying about spending your life trying to understand something you saw as a child, to the point where it influences your career and it just leads you to realize that what you saw can't be explained.
mag 45 Blood Bag: Mosquitos suck all of the blood out of a guy because he sold his lucky syringe, enough said there I think.
mag 52 Exceptional Risk: Something I think Jonny is very good at is writing from the perspective of shitty cops. The statement giver spends the whole time both bragging about and excusing his abuse of the prisoners under his care. He readily admits to using excessive force but has a million reasons why it's necessary. Also it's clear that the system fully allows and encourages it, until they come under any kind of scrutiny of course. He's just such and believable character, awful in such a mundane, true to life way. It's one of those episodes where the the supernatural element is not the most horrifying part by a long shot.
mag 53 Crusader: Love the voice actor for the statement giver, his performance makes an already harrowing story that much more upsetting. The description of the man burning alive inside the tank really got to me. Also introduces the concept of the ancient Archivists which is really fun and I wish had been explored more. Love a shuffling, empty husk that's not allowed to die.
mag 60 The Observer Effect: I am genuinely so afraid of seeing something lurking behind me in my reflection. This one really creeped me out. Really considering what it would be like have something watching you all the time makes my skin crawl. I'm not that surprised she tried to blow up the Institute.
mag 99 Dust To Dust: There's just something about the vibe of this one. The Dust Bowl is such a perfect setting for a Buried statement. All that dirt causing so much destitution and suffering while in turn having been caused by people overworking the land trying to "build their fortunes". Lungs full of dirt is also just such and awful way to die. Also Gertrude mispronouncing Boise always sends me.
mag 113 Breathing Room: Gotta love a Dekker statement. More than on of the End statements manage to hit precisely onto one of my very specific ongoing anxieties. Every couple months I become convinced that there is a carbon monoxide leak in my apartment. I'm also obsessed with the detail that the blood of people of die of carbon monoxide poisoning is cherry red. Plus love that Dekker's solution was straight up just a good old fashioned lobotomy.
mag 123 Web Development: I love when Jonny dips into his old school internet horror roots. Chelicerae really sounds like a creepypasta that an older kid tells you about on the playground. I am also obsessed with a guy who is so much of a pushover that he refuses to stop working for an evil website that turns people into spider monsters because he doesn't want to rock the boat.
mag 148 Extended Surveillance: In retrospect this feels like a Protocol case to me. A guy fusing with the computers and cctv system, yeah I've heard that one before.
mag 183 Monument: It's interesting that this one doesn't get a lot of play because it is essentially the thesis statement on why Smirks 14 was a deeply flawed system and why any attempt at categorizing the Fears will inevitably fail. It's also got some great Helen moments and a very good Jon/Martin conversation at the end.
mag 159 Adrift: Simply for Jon and Basira's conversation.
