Breekon & Hope Deliveries: 🛶
Peter Lukas: I will also be pressing charges against our couples’ therapist @Simon Fairchild for malpractice
Simon Fairchild: I had no ill part in this dispute
Peter Lukas: And possibly filing restraining orders against the both of them
Elias Bouchard: @Simon Fairchild I know you swayed his decision
Peter Lukas replying to @Simon Fairchild: Hearsay!
Simon Fairchild: I will have it known that I am an innocent bystander
Elias Bouchard: YOU ARE NOT
Peter Lukas: Blasphemy
Elias Bouchard: homewrecker

I bought a little guy and I need help naming him
He is my son
I love him
He is a clown so I'll put him under the cut for the people that don't like clowns
Tumblr media
@fairy-writes says I should do Garbanzo, my dad says Mel, my younger sibling says Marilyn, and the rest were either friend's suggestions or I came up with myself
(I was going to get a different picture but when I went back to go get him he'd been sold already so I went with this fine gentleman. I was going to name the other guy Mr. Bonzo and I'm still convinced that I can find a print of him somewhere so that name is reserved for him)
(Artist signature just says Higgins, he's an oil on canvas painting, so if anyone would like to help me out in finding his brother, I'm 90% sure it was done by the same artist)
Edit: I’ve also heard Charles, Sullivan, Radish, Lance, and Frank but I can’t add them to the poll so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

alright, friends, enemies and anything in between. i may or may not have something to say about this, specifically about nikola themselves. i am not particularly concerned about whether they could, technically, kill macbeth - the categorisation of which is a pursuit worthy unto its own, just not one i care to engage myself. however, i am in sore need of sleep and will try to come back to this when my need has been adequately satiated. the only words i leave (more for myself and the construction of my future arguments, than for any other reason) are. nikola orsinov started their life as the human joseph grimaldi in the same way a leather sofa started its life as a cow. theseus's nikola. bonne nuit!
Could Nikola Orsinov from The Magnus Archives?
Yes, Nikola Orsinov from The Magnus Archives podcast could kill Macbeth!
((No image available))
At face value, this seems rather easy; she's a sentient mannequin made by Gregor Orsinov, so she applies for all three Clauses, right? Well, it seems to be a bit more complicated than that, from what I can tell.
Nikola used to be a human before being transformed by Gregor, and this human was a man (Joseph Grimaldi), and presumably of woman born. But Nikola is still referred to with She/It pronouns, so we might consider her a trans woman, applying her for the Gender Clause anyway.
As for the other two Clauses, it really depends on whether we see Joseph and Nikola as the same person at different points of her life, or if we see them as two separate entities, and Joseph's corpse was just used as the materials to bring Nikola into existence. The wiki isn't entirely clear on this, and there very well might be something in the podcast itself that disambiguates this, but until someone comes forward with the receipts, we'll leave the Unconventional Birth Clause and Birth Parent Clause untouched.
Either way, Nikola is still able to kill Macbeth regardless!
Nikola Orsinov was also requested by @crows-junk-pile and an anonymous asker (who I will answer separately since they also asked about another character I haven't covered yet). Thank you all for your submission!

⚠️TW: Blood and body gore. Goretober Day #17
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"He got really boring, and I’m a monster. I mean, what do you want me to do – not pull him apart? I did use all the bits." Nikola Orsinov - MAG 97
I finally got to draw my girl Nikola! I can't believe the fricking murderous circus manequinn is on of my favorites but honestly she is just so unapologetic and inexplicacly funny.
She's insane, I love it.

I've been thinking about Nikola and finally realised what is so wrong with her name for me
my first language is russian, but I also speak polish and a bit of ukrainian and for all of them Nikola's surname is grammatically incorrect
Orsinov comes from Gregor, and it's fine here, it's a masc surname, but in most slavic languages (to my knowledge) surname changes based on gender. so to be correct she should be Nikola Orsinova
I don't know where to go with it, but it's just a fun little thing. it's subtle but makes her just a-little-not-right and that just what the stranger is about, isn't it? some smallest thing, that makes you doubt it's humanity

I am very Stranger-aligned and also tend to categorise, learn, try to understand... but that's mostly the autism, frankly. To me, any Stranger emanation and those few humans who have aided it have always read autistic. Wolfgang von Kempelen, the first - to our knowlege - to attempt an Unknowing, was a recluse who spent his time tinkering on the machines of his creation, enough to draw the interest of the Stranger and his emanations for reciprocal aide. All he cared about was mechanical feats of engineering, giving a semblance of the life spark to that which is - and should stay - inanimate. Thinning the line between impossible and plausible with his ingenuity. And, like many autistics, he was very bad at the whole social interaction part of being human. Not at the special interest part, though... The machines were his friends and at some point, the machines stopped being plain creations of his imagination and labour, but became as alive as him. Gregor Osinov was a circus master, surrounded by puppets, clowns and other marvels whose job was to amaze the audience and drive them to suspend their disbelief, until knowing what really was and what shouldn't be went fom being a priority to becoming impossible. He is the only one that doesn't read as autistic, per se, but his dedication towards crafting both uncanny experiences and fantastic, nightmarish creatures, felt both notable and pertinent to grant him inclusion. Breekon and Hope are jack of all trades who have spent most of their existences on the margins of society, disposing of corpses infected with the plague, first, then as train conductors. These allowed them to travel and learn, observe, while strategically keeping interactions that might give away their otherness to a minimum, so that they could choose when to show it, to feed their power.
To them, existing in the world, is but a farce. Surely, a remnant of their circus days, when they played the part of strongmen. And parts is all they play. Whilst Breekon and Hope are the most rooted in their identity - that which is anathema to the Stranger, a fixed, defined identity - I would argue the fluidity they have maintained makes them quite emblematic. Exemplary are their interactions with the *actual* Breekon. The unsettlingly playful way with which the duo copies the man's affectations, the theatre of it all. Isn't that simply mirroring? Unlike any random autistic person, their intentions are sinister, it's true, but copying those around you while you try to understand why they behave the way they do and why they are the way they are, so that you may better fit in, when needed... I don't think I need to spend any more words in this regard, concerning Nikola and the other not!thems, whose intellect and wit ar far more keen than they give away, always taking advantage of the social contract to pervert it, always trying to pass themselves as lacking in understanding, as innocent, when they understand what they are doing full well. And how it will end... I will, however, take advantage of these characters to move to the next point, which I feel must be addressed. The body horror! What's a horror podcast without blood and guts, now and then?
Flaying. Flensing. And they always suffer. But I ask you: what is the gesture of peeling one's skin, to inhabit it, if not the carnal embodiment of the desire to know? To peel back the surface, to see what is contained within, what of it will escape, now that the barrier is breached and freedom is near? Touching, smelling, tasting, seeing, feeling... knowing. Practicle example of this attitude, Anatomy Class. Learning the insides to understand the world around you. The fear of embodiment into a static, fixed identity and the compulsion towards becoming the living embodiment of a fixed identity, only to abandon it and be undone and reborn anew. Knowing what it is to be human, a specific human, and then slipping back int othe comfort of unknwing it. Only to start again in the inescapable process. And do you know why they always suffer? Of course, bodily harm is painful in the most apparent of ways, but to keep with the metaphore, their victims suffer in body, what they suffer in spirit in being bared, revealed, made known... To be know is always a risk that bears a percentage of sorrow, with it. To be known in truth, for what one is and to be known in misunderstanding, for what one is no tyet taken to be.
Categorising. Learning. Underatanding. Explaining. All viable reactions to fear, but not unique to the Eye, for there are as many ways to go about them in actions as one can come up with accoring to their essence and attitude.
But, unlike the Eye, which only observes eschewing experience, can you really, fully know without it? Are you really better fed, without it?
One thing I'm curious about is the way people perceive fear (both the entities and the emotion) changes based on the entity they align with.
For example I'm very Eye aligned and I tend to respond to fear by wanting to categorise it, learn about it, and understand it. I'm afraid the most of things that I can't see, know, or understand.
Idk I'm just curious if that sort of obvious link was present for anyone else.

Based off a post I saw with the idea that Robert Smirke had fourteen friends, each falling too/representing a different entity, with Smirke himself being the Extinction.
To get the obvious ones out of the way: Jonah Magnus as the Eye, Mordechai Lukas as the Lonely, Maxwell Rayner as the Dark, and George Gilbert Scott as the Buried; these ones are all canon. Not directly canon but a pretty reasonable assumption is Simon Fairchild as the Vast; we know Simon had Maxwell Rayner help him with his Awful Deep ritual in 1853, which was only a few years before Smirke died, and Smirke hung out with Rayner a ton, so it makes sense for Simon to be part of the group (though by a different name; he only started going by “Simon Fairchild” in the 1930s). Another fairly reasonable assumption, in my opinion, is John Franklin for the Hunt. Franklin is canonically a Hunt avatar in The Magnus Archives, his real-life timeline overlaps with Smirke and the rest, and Rayner was canonically interested in his expedition, which was probably because he wanted to use Franklin’s knowledge of arctic exploration for his ritual, but could also imply they knew each other, and therefore, Smirke’s gang.
For the Corruption, my first thought was John Amherst, but he only became an avatar during the Second Boer War, which was about half a century after Smirke’s time. Instead, John Snow is a better fit. He was an English physician who lived during the same time as Smirke, and he had something going on; his descendant Neil Thompson has a syringe that belonged to Snow that had Corruption properties, so Snow fits. For the Slaughter, we could go with Charles Fleming. We know he was in China from at least the beginning of the First Opium War in 1839, and Smirke and Jonah and the rest were up and active on their supernatural studies since at least the 1810s, so it’s theoretical Fleming could have hung out with them, even though he didn’t become touched by the Slaughter until he went to China. Maybe he came back later, though he was in China at least until 1862. Alternatively, William Hall, the actual captain of the Nemesis, could be an option, his lifetime overlaps pretty well with Smirke’s, though there is no evidence he interacted with the Slaughter besides his interactions with Fleming and the Nemesis. Still, he was probably a bit more high-society that Fleming, so I kind of prefer him. Finally, for the more reasonable ones, we have Joey Grimaldi for the Stranger. Grimaldi’s timeline overlaps with Smirke’s, and we know he was affected by the Stranger even before he was turned into Nikola Orsinov. The reason I’m choosing Grimaldi instead of Gregor Orsinov or Nikolai Denikin is that we know for sure he was in England while Smirke was, unlike the other two.
Now for the more out-there guesses. For the Flesh, there are a few options. One is Eustace Wick, the Lutheran priest-turned-cannibal, who did live at the same time as Smirke, but he became an avatar in 1832, died in 1845, and has no evidence that he’d even been to England, considering he’s American. The other options would be Benjamin Carlisle, Benjamin’s unnamed wife, or possibly some other relative or descendant of theirs. I find this one the more likely choice, because Jonathan Sims specifically wonders how Benjamin Carlisle’s wife was able to give her statement to the Magnus Institute, considering she starved to death in a cave on the Oregon Trail in 1845, as well as the fact that an apparent descendant of her, Toby Carlisle, is living in England by the 21st Century and has enough of a connection with the Flesh to be pretty severely affected by the failure of the Last Feast ritual. The unnamed Mrs. Carlisle being the Flesh representative does mean she presumably gave in and cannibalized her husband, and the timeline only gives her about a decade to have hung out with the rest before Smirke’s death, but I think that fits, considering what Smirke said about just coming up with theories about the Flesh in his statement.
The Spiral has similarly not a lot to go on. I would just say the Distortion, seeing as it’s an immortal manifestation of the Spiral itself. We know that Ivo Lenshik’s father was tormented by the Distortion in a human form, and apparently Lenshik’s great-uncle did too, implying that the Distortion did assume a humanoid form sometimes, before it was forced to by the failure of the Great Twisting ritual. Plus, Jonah Magnus clearly knows who the Distortion is, which yes, he could have learned at literally any point from the past two hundred years, but seeing as we’ve got nothing else, I’ll choose to believe. For the Web, the only older avatars of the Web we’re aware of would be the historical owners of the house at Hill Top Road. We don’t know who owned it during Smirke’s time; the closest we have are the unnamed blackmailer who died during the English Civil War in the mid-1600s, and Walter Fielding, who died in 1923. Walter’s son and grandson both owned the house for about thirty years before dying, so with the same amount of time applied, Walter couldn’t be our Web avatar. Honestly, the answer might just have to be “whichever Web avatar was owning the house at Hill Top Road during the first half of the 19th Century.”
For the Desolation, we have even less. Diego Molina founded the Cult of the Lightless Flame at some point prior to World War II, but we have no idea when, and it couldn’t have been that long, considering what Eugene Vanderstock says about the immortality of Desolation avatars having some kind of limit. The same is true of the End. The only known End avatar who was alive during Smirke’s time was Nathaniel Thorp, who was a Death at the time, and didn’t become human again until 1970. It’s unlikely that Deaths got breaks to socialize.
So, in summary, we know for sure about:
* Jonah Magnus — The Eye
* Mordechai Lukas — The Lonely
* Maxwell Rayner — The Dark
* George Gilbert Scott — The Buried
We can make some reasonable assumptions about:
* Simon Fairchild — The Vast
* John Franklin — The Hunt
We can make educated guesses about:
* John Snow — The Corruption
* William Hall — The Slaughter
* Joey Grimaldi — The Stranger
We can make complete guesses about:
* Mrs. Carlisle — The Flesh
* The Distortion — The Spiral
* Owner of the house at Hill Top Road — The Web
And we have nothing for:
* The Desolation
* The End
If anyone has ideas or things I missed, let me know.

I didn't get too far into TMA - could you explain more of Nikola's backstory for context? I'm really curious.
Hi and yes!
General spoiler warning for season 2 and onwards, but specific spoiler warnings for episode 83 (Drawing A Blank), episode 87 (The Uncanny Valley) episode 97 (We All Ignore The Pit), episode 102 (Nesting Instinct), episode 104 (Sneak Preview), episode 119 (Stranger and Stranger), and episode 128 (Heavy Goods).
Tumblr media
Nikola Orsinov was originally Joseph Grimaldi, a real man who pioneered the modern clown (whiteface makeup, brightly coloured and detailed clothes, playful character). By the end of his life, Joseph had fallen into poverty, alcoholism, and depression. In the story of The Magnus Archives, he sought employment with The Circus of the Other, not knowing it was an organization of the Stranger, one of the fear entities.
Gregor Orsinov, the ringmaster, then violently remade him to be a mannequin, the star dancer of the Stranger's ritual (the Unknowing)⸺ and a woman. After a nonspecific amount of time, she killed him, repurposed his body parts, and took on his role as the ringmaster.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She goes on to carry out her purpose and work to bring about the Unknowing. In addition, she begins to terrorize people, as her being a figure of a fear entity requires her to sustain it with fear.
The entirety of episode 87 (The Uncanny Valley) has her pretending to be a woman, wearing human skin and painted eyes, to deceive a man before (failing to) kill him.
She also goes on to commit acts of violence for her own benefit. Her introductory episode consists of her stealing a woman's vocal cords.
Tumblr media
Her first appearance continues to emphasize the horror of her theft.
Tumblr media
The one confirmed instance of her pretending to be a man was episode 104 (Sneak Preview).
She had briefly assumed her previous identity of Joseph to terrorize one main character's brother, before (successfully) killing him. Her actions in episode 104 are depicted and discussed differently from her other instances of taking on a more human appearance, such as episode 87. When she is a woman, it is an act of deceit. When she is a man, it is an act of disentombent.
Tumblr media
I apologize if the later part of this answer strayed from explaining her origins. I believed it was necessary to outline what her backstory served as a foundation to. Her identity as Nikola is seen as a departure from her identity as Joseph; her manhood is seen as being taken away from her, and yet her womanhood is never fully granted to her. She kills the man who feminized her and takes on his flesh, and marks the rest of her existence with more violence and more theft of the body.
I also apologize for taking a while to answer; I wanted to be thorough. If there is anything more you'd like me to expand upon, do let me know!

S3 is once again killing me again with all the lore and I love it. School started up so I might be slower with my thoughts but I got episodes 92, 93, 94 and 95 to talk about!!!
MAG 92: Nothing Beside Remains
Elias makes me want to eat my phone, similar to that one guy from MAG 65 :) I was like screaming the whole time. Of course he can see everything, he literally called the police before Daisy came. I took that as "oh he has spies" but no he can see everything, I hate that. Is Jon eventually gonna get that ability or does The Eye give different gifts. Elias hasn't shown any "compellling" sort of power so I assume the latter. ALSO MORDECAI LUKAS?? I need to see a statement from a Lukas member cause what is up with that family, I'm dying.
Guess Basira is now working there. Hope Elias is paying her. the fact he won't tell Jon shit is so funny to me. So The Stranger is now, basically, the confirmed main villain. BBEG yknow? Mildly terrified, I hate circuses and mannequins so this season is gonna like body me
Not much to say on MAG 93 but whatever entity has the whole "gross shit" as its deal, I'm guessing this falls under it. Purple fungus, the obsessive cleaning, etc. Also yaaay Breekon and Hopes!! Again!11!! get out! Poor Georgie. Love her for being like "Do you even have qualifications??". Jons explanation helped me a lot because during Elias's explanations, I'm mostly just muttering curses to myself because I HATE Him. Avatars. Baller. So Jude Perry was the avatar of The Desolation (destruction, fire, etc) Michael Crew was the avatar of The Vast (sky??, emptiness, general loneliness) and then like Jon is an avatar and I'm guessing so is Elias. I think you can have more then one avatar but anyways.
MAG 94: Dead Woman Walking
Jon refereed to the entity as "The End" which, using my notes, was mentioned in Mary keys statement when gertrude asked where the book came from and Mary said "The End" and said she could never serve it, not finding death interesting. Wild that she can't feel fear anymore??? Like damn. This kinda read as someone in a depressive state in some form. Or like a nihilistic person. Cause like "everything ends, time, it has already ended". Wild.
Not much to say on MAG 95 but I did understand the context vaguely which is more then what I can say for the other war statements. Also Martin and Basira friendship??? Love it. She gets really engrossed in books. I dunno if she was like lying or this is something supernatural related but I love Basira
MAG 96: Return to Sender
Literally screeching oh my god. The fact these things just hijacked this mans business is almost funny. They also talked with a circus ringmaster. Nikola Orsinov? gregor Orsinov? A different one. the statement was given 1996 and Gregor was the leader around the 40's but Nikola, by her description I think, sounded young. So. Who was this ringmaster? Maybe Im getting the timeframe wrong. or they're like eternal. Maybe they like just shed skin and steal a new body, just going by the same last name- okay I don't know.
Also, SARAH BALDWIN???? Welcome back girl. The fact the gorilla skin was stolen by gertrude means she was trying to stop The Unknowing, and likely that's why its been this long for it to happen, because they need that skin. Ew. The Stranger loves skin a little too much. Also Sarah being filled with sawdust and cloves. Great. If Not Sasha was shot, would we have seen that? Or is it different with every one of those, NotThem.?
Anyways, I think that's everything. Every statement, I'm kinda thinking, "which entity does this fall under" now that I know the surrounding universe. Tough since I only know 6 by name and I think there's more. 6 too many entities for this world though
