The interesting biology, the eyes, the ability to take on multiple forms in response to environmental factors (which is an ability I really like), the claws...

I love everything about it.

Now I do prefer the beefier and more visceral version of it in the new resident evil 2 remake, since it makes more sense for an experimental mutative virus to make a more grotesque creature even when reaching the “peak” form (William Birkin stage three) instead of a smooth streamlined demon like in the original. But both are pretty awesome. Plus, the quadrupedal form of the original is pretty charming.

William Birkin was also the first resident evil boss that kept getting stronger and stronger before eventually ‘crashing’ and becoming a blob, which was a great trend that stayed throughout most of the series.
