Anything You Want

At first I wanted to dedicate the last day to the love that I have for this series and revisit some of my favourite memories. But because everyone has something to say about the ending of the series, I decided to also dump whatever I have on my mind.

Especially with the topic of Horikoshi's treatment towards Izuku and the villains.

Because with this fandoms logic:

Killing a beloved character = omg the writer hates them!

Now, if Horikoshi killed them in cold blood without having them find their happiness/purpose/peace, then yes I would agree that this ending sucked.

But I never saw it this way.

Now this is my personal (and very biased opinion) that could be extremely wrong. But at last, BNHA ended and everyone and their mother is talking about it so, here goes nothing.

"The villains didn't get what they wanted"

Tenko/Tomura Shigaraki

"His only desire was to destroy" was it though?

Why don't we go back, to the very beginning of Tenko Shimura.

No, his first ever desire was to become a hero.

"Okay then he should have lived and become heroes with Deku"

.... First of all, I highly doubt that ANY citizen of Japan would be happy to have the guy that was so heavily involved in two deadly wars become one of their heroes. This scene conveys the message perfectly.

So no, he can't become their hero but that ... shouldn't matter anyway because Tenko was already a hero to the villains.

He fought for them, protected them, promised them a new beginning with freedom. The moment where he states his true goal, is still my favourite moment from his character. Because we know that he has been feeling lost. Who was he? Were his thoughts his own or AFO's?

The need to protect them was his. Finally for the first time he's talking straight from him heart, without AFO's influence. Tenko Shimura never wanted to destroy but to save.

Tenko Shimura didn't die being AFO's puppet . His life, his whole existence was planned by him. That's the moment he's breaking free from the AFO shackles and makes his own decision. He's a hero. AFO's desperation to mold him into a heartless super villain gets destroyed by Shigaraki himself.

So Tenko wanted to survive in order to continue being their hero. But here's the problem, the Lov didn't exist anymore. As Tenko was saying how he's the hero of the villains, said villains were either dead (Twice) dying on the battlefield (Toga) and were about to die in a few months (Dabi)

So if not for them then what would keep Tenko alive? His will was to protect them, and he did. You can't blame any of their deaths on him, from his part he did a good job being their leader. He truly cared about them.

His first wish was to be a hero, and a hero he became. Just with a twist. Instead of taking down bad guys, he protected them. He found his purpose before he died.

(Side note) Shigaraki makes his last appearance in the last page of the finale... and I loved it. I didn't get emotional just because he's there but because of what he's wearing.

It's the clothes that he had in the beginning of the series :')

But most importantly, look at his body, the hands of his dead family that AFO forced on him, aren't there anymore.

He's free. He finally found peace.

Twice

All Twice ever wanted was to belong. To have a family. Simple as that but because of who he was he truly thought that it was almost impossible to fit in. But the Lov became his family. The Lov made him feel like he belonged. You can just see how grateful he is as he's slowly dying. He thinks back to his life and states proudly that he had never been unlucky, which is obviously not true.

Twice have been anything but lucky but in his final moments he thinks that he was. Because while yes most of his life was miserable, just by meeting the Lov and have them be a part in his life, he looks back and can only think how lucky he was, to live and meet them. He found his family before he died.

Toga Himiko

Toga wanted to be accepted as she was. To have people not judge or get disgusted by her. For someone to understand her. And she found that comfort in Ochako. The line about Togas smile means so much more than what many think.

And I know because it has been meme-ed to death that a lot of people can't take this scene seriously anymore and it is a shame!! Cuz that's what Toga always wanted to hear. Because she was targeted and ridiculed for that same smile and now for the first time there was someone that not only accepted her smile but she thought that she was beautiful, the most beautiful. So come on say it with me, she got what she wanted before she died.

She doesn't think of herself as a monster. No, she's normal and she's the cutest girl in the world!

(ps, I just realised that Twice died in the arms of the person that accepted him the most, Toga. And then Toga also died in the arms of the person that accepted her in the end the most, Ochako)

Dabi/ Toya

He wanted approval. He wanted his father's attention. But he also wanted love (all people who think dabi as a heartless monster can go now!) that boy thought his need for revenge cancelled all his desperation for love but HA NO! And I'm so glad that at the very end you can see his true self shine through. Dabi got Endeavours attention, he had him apologising for everything. He got his family together and the knowledge that Shoto, the brother that he tried to kill on multiple occasions, doesn't hate him, only asks him about his favourite food.

He. Got. What. He. Wanted. Before. He. Died.

I think Izuku, Ochako and Shoto will always live with that burden. When the whole world thinks of these guys as monsters, they can say otherwise.

The public doesn't see little Tenko in the villain Shigaraki. Only Izuku does. Only Izuku has seen a small boy getting abused by his family, and then manipulated by AFO.

The public will not find Togas smile the prettiest but most likely creepy. But Ochako thinks it's beautiful!

And the public couldn't care less about Toyas favourite food because he's just Dabi to them. But that was what Shoto only wanted to know.

Along side Izuku, Ochako, and Shoto stands us, the readers. Just like how these three know what truly these villains were, we also know because we lived through their povs. We've seen them being silly and making jokes, living life as "normally" as possible. We've seen why they ended up becoming villains. And now we have to live with their absence.

Which is why for me Spinner and Mr. Compress are the saddest part.

To question what was the point of the league of villains is like you're insulting them. The point was the happiness that they found. Their home, the place to belong.

Spinners scene is heartbreaking but personally what breaks me the most is Mr. Compress. Yes that small panel of him smiling while reading (probably) the book that Spinner wrote about the Lov. Just seeing the fondness in his smile is enough to convince me that after everything that went down, he doesn't regret it. He doesn't regret the league of villains. It was probably the happiest he'd ever felt in his life. And after 8 years not a single thing could change his mind. He was and still is, happy that he got to meet them.

But then I ask myself, what ending would fit them? A "happy ending" only sounds happy to us. And apparently for BNHA fans:

happy ending = all characters must live.

Would Tenko be happy to know that what awaits him is a life trapped in a prison without the Lov being alive? As if they would ever let him out. So what, Izuku visits to trauma dump on each other and then when it's over Izuku goes back to his happy little life being a Pro Hero, and Tenko goes back to being alone? Trapped in a room with only his thoughts and the remaining trauma? Would that even make him happy? I personally can't think of another ending that doesn't revolve Tenko being thrown in prison. I just go with what sounds more realistic. Trust me, I would LOVE to see him as a Pro Hero alongside Deku and Dynamight. But that's maybe for an alternative universe :')

Toga was (and still kinda is) the one that confused me the most. Hori just kept avoiding to show us any actual evidence of her being dead. It felt like it was building up, that it was going somewhere but at the end she's really gone. But again, same question with Tenko, would Toga be happy as a prisoner for life? I just imagine Ochako visiting her to update on her life and lift her mood, but then again, Toga would only be happy because of Ochako's happiness and not her own. It's tricky, I really really wanted her to live. But at the same time I don't know how it could have been handled.

(Alternative ending: Toga lives, she hides until Ochako becomes a Pro Hero. Then they meet and immediately fall in love and decide to run away together ❤️)

Dabi is the most complicated one. I will say that what we got from chapter 426 was pretty satisfying to me.

It's bittersweet, exactly like I expected it to be.

For Dabi to live, logistically would be impossible. He's quite literally a walking corpse. I'm assuming he died after a few months from chapter 426.

And this is where the open ending solution can be unsatisfying.

I wanna know how he died. Was he alone? Was he crying? Apologizing? Was his family with him? Maybe Shoto? And if yes, then did he apologize to him? Did he die peacefully? :')

That's why open endings can be 50/50 for me. It's nice to leave things up to the readers interpretation but sometimes you just really wanna know what exactly went down.

Alive doesn't equal to happy.

As a fan of these characters (myself included) of course you'd wish for them to stay alive because you're attached to them.

And you have a every right to feel attached to them, even if they are the "villains" of the show.

Horikoshi didn't punish them with death. He clearly cared about these characters. Otherwise he wouldn't go out of his way to humanize them.

To dedicate two volumes on them and their backstories, knowing fully well that they aren't as popular as the heroes in Japan.

Of course not all endings are satisfying. But personally to me, seeing them break their walls down and either accept love (Toga, Touya) or find their purpose (Tenko) was enough for me to smile in the end.

It's a sad smile nonetheless, but loving and cheering for the "bad guys" is always like you're playing directly with fire.

Izuku Midoriya: Do Not Be Defeated By The Rain

Don't get me wrong, Izuku deserved to have an emotional breakdown. He deserved to be comforted and be told that he isn't a murderer.

It hurts to see him move on while his heart is still heavy with pain.

He needed a hug. Someone to hold him.

But Izuku doesn't allow himself to have an emotional breakdown.

He thinks he completely deserves it.

It's almost like he thinks this:

Breakdown means your heart is complaining about something. You can't complain, that's ungrateful.

(He's still alive while someone else isn't)

You need to stay humble and live with it.

(He said he's fine while feeling slightly lonely for years)

If others are crying, you should go and comfort them.

(Katsuki, Spinner, Ochako)

But don't expect or even wish to be comforted back.

(He never did)

The choices that you made will live alongside you.

(.....)

And the only thing that you can do, is move forward and be grateful even if unhappy.

Sounds awfully familiar, right?

Better dismissed as useless than flattered as a "Great Man"

Izuku stayed true to his character until the very end.

That's Deku for you. A selfless person that will never put himself first, will never truly think of himself as important, will always question his worth and will always downgrade his value.

It's frustrating to watch, it's hard. You love that character so much, you just wanna bang your head against the wall thinking just how much more he deserves.

I don't think Horikoshi is the one that thinks Izuku doesn't deserve to have a moment for himself, it's Izuku himself who's against it.

That's why I'm so glad that even after many years, he's surrounded by the loveliest people that care and want to show him how incredible he is.

He might not want to face it, but he truly is a "Great Man" :)

At the end, you can say and feel however you want. Things could have easily been handled with more care. But this wasn't my or your story. If that's what Horikoshi wanted then I'm ok with it. The open ending leaves so much for us the fans to figure out and get creative with! I'm honestly grateful for that. Now I know for sure that this fandom won't die that easily.

I will be honest with my next topic:

Calling Horikoshi a useless writer and saying things like "put that pen down" and "maybe it's time to retire" is very disrespectful and just plain rude. I get it, you didn't like the ending. But I personally find it too harsh.

People saying that Horikoshi now sucks but used to be good, mind you, the "used to be good" literally refers to a few chapters before the finale. So in a spam of five chapters he became the worst writer possible? No. That's the ending that he had in his mind. Like it or hate it, it shouldn't cancel all of Horikoshi's work.

We all know that he has given us amazing arcs with brilliant characters and backstories. That man knows how to write, he's just not perfect. He's a good writer with flaws. You know, like any other normal human out there?

No matter what ending we'd get, it would never satisfy every single fan.

Some wanted for all the villains to stay alive while others didn't care about their survival.

Some wanted for all the main characters (especially Izuku) to get married with kids and stuff and others (like myself) hated that idea.

Hell some people still wanted Bakugou to end up dead somehow. Or for Izuku to get revenge. For Toga and Ochako to become canon. Katsuki and Izuku to become canon. Mina and Kirishima, Denki and Jirou, Izuku and Ochako... You get the point!

Everybody wanted something different. How on earth could you satisfy a fandom with so many different needs? You simply can't.

I'm not saying that I LOVED the ending. But I also don't think it's a bad ending. Is it rushed? Yes. But is it bad? It depends on who you ask. If you ask me, I wouldn't call it bad at all.

And for the love of god, stop saying that Horikoshi got sick of BNHA and wanted to end it as soon as possible. That he "hates Deku" omfg are you listening to yourselves?

First of all, even if Horikoshi really wanted to end BNHA, that doesn't mean that he hates it! His love and adoration for his series can coexist with his need to move on to something different. It's been ten whole years and I get it. If he wants to create something new I will definitely stick around to see it.

At last, people undermine how worst we could have had it. Getting the ending of a long series right is difficult .

He's still a good writer in my eyes. Not perfect but very good with interesting ideas to share. Overall I enjoyed this ride. And the more time passes the more I like this ending.

I still hope for more material tho. Maybe from team up or light novels? Perhaps any original ova or movie? (I will always beg for a fantasy movie PLEASE BONES JUST DO IT)

Either way I definitely want more from adult class 1A. Headcanons and fanon stories to fill gaps are good but come on Horikoshi 👁️👁️ don't be shy, share some facts with the class.

Saying goodbye to BNHA feels weird...

Those 3 years of being in the fandom brought me so much happiness and laughter. I will forever be grateful to Kohei Horikoshi for creating this wonderful series. Nothing will ever come this close in my heart.

Not to keep repeating what’s already been said, but: I think a lot of the dismissal of AFO’s "chops" as a villain tends to come from fans who simply don’t want to acknowledge that Tomura is his victim-- Or rather, appreciation of AFO as a villain seems directly proportional to how willing a person is to explore Tomura’s victimhood.

Like… pretty much everything about AFO’s treatment of Tomura is utterly skin crawling when you give it more than a passing glance and start to delve into the effects it has had (and still has!) on Tomura's beliefs and behavior. imho AFO is a villain who just gets worse and worse every time you reread the series, because with each reread you end up noticing ways he’s violated Tomura that might not have been immediately apparent during the first read through. He's a villain that inspires a sense of intense revulsion that sets him apart from the other villains in the series-- because the ultimate trap he laid for Tomura didn't actually hinge on Tomura "hating everything," it hinged on Tomura genuinely loving and trusting him and not even remotely anticipating that AFO would ever violate that trust. He sprung a trap that took advantage of Tomura's capacity for love, because AFO knew that Tomura would continue to walk towards him and view him as a comforting figure no matter how fuckin' ominous things looked:

"Come to me, now" and Tomura does, without the slightest bit of hesitation and without even questioning what he's seeing. Like. It's the way four little words can make you instantly nauseous bc of the far reaching implications they have for this dynamic.

So like. AFO is a “bad” villain in their eyes because acknowledging his worst acts of evil means you’ve gotta acknowledge exactly what he’s been doing to Tomura this whole time— and everything just sort of falls apart from there.

“Katsuki?”

His eyes were dark, he looks like he haven’t slept in weeks, and it’s only been a year since the war ended. Granted, everybody was finally able to sleep regularly again, but apparently you must have been wrong.

“I—“

He couldn’t get the words out, his fits were shaking from how hard we was clenching them, his tired eyes began to water, you knew.

“C’mere.” You pull him into your arms, you feel your shoulder dampening and it was a signal for you to squeeze tighter once you shut your door. You couldn’t even move feeling his arms squeeze tighter against your waist. “I’m right here.”

Even though Bakugo managed to live. Managed to pass though rehab, managed to become a big part of fighting against AFO he still has nightmares.

They started off as just seeing himself nearly die but he wakes up right before it happens. But now he’s having nightmares about you. How you took his place instead of him.

This nightmare he seen your body, lying there, tears dried by your eyes, by the time bakugo ran to you Shigiraki turned your body into dust.

It was horrifying.

He woke up in a frenzy, hot, sweating, immediately running out his room to your dorm, his heavy feet nearly sprinting to your room he needed to just double check he almost bust down your door if you haven’t opened it right as he arrived.

“You—-“

“It’s okay….you’re okay—“

“BUT YOU WEREN’T…you…you….” His voice was so shattered. He couldn’t explain it to you, but you had an inkling what he could’ve meant.

He has been going to your dorm a lot lately. Using the excuse “I’m just checking up on YOU.” But in reality it’s you checking on him. He’ll come right before bed and sleep over or come in while you’re sleep and lay on your couch and once with you on the opposite side of your bed.

You couldn’t move, hearing his sniffles tore your heart a little, his breathing was shallow you could feel his heart rate grow faster, his body was shaking and you immediately began to fall on your knees, back on the wall rubbing his back .”I’m right here Katsuki…it’s okay just match my breathing.”

Not wanting to panic either you regulated your breathing for him to copy you, his teeth were gritting to hard you felt it against your shoulder, “C’mon there you go…..just breathe….”

After a few minutes He began to calm down. Your shirt was damp with tears but you knew better than to force him to look at you. So you waited until he did the first move.

Bakugo covered his face with his palm, pausing before attempting to wipe all his tears off his face.

He failed.

You took his hand, palms so sweaty it was nearly slippery to hold up with a firm grip you guided him to your bed. “Stay here tonight.”

He didn’t reply nor negate, he just followed suit. He’d usually have his back facing you, but felt himself willingly fall onto your chest.

“They’re soft right?” You weakly joke about your breast he is laid on, trying to see if he’ll respond, you smile hearing a weak chuckle come out his nose before he snuggles himself between them deeper.

Your fingers run though his soft hair, his heartbeat was in tandem with yours as you felt his chest against your belly.

Bakugo usually handles his panic attacks alone, but for the first time he actually was so happy to have someone like you there with him. His teary eye peaks from the side, you wipe the remnant of tears from his cheek and he nearly melts to your touch.

It was probably the best sleep he has ever had in months thanks to you.

“ugh… c’mon guyss! i really want to go on this trip” toga whined next to double, squirming around like a child having a tantrum. you rolled your eyes in annoyance. she’s been complaining like this since yesterday. “i am NOT letting my dignity wash away by sitting on anyone else’s lap but their car seats.” you protested, making it clear that you wouldn’t give less than a shit if the trip was canceled.

dabi batted an eye at you with devious intentions (🤨) “are you implying that you’d rather have someone in your lap?” he rebuked your statement with a grin of victory, causing your face to contort in disgust. “no, i’m saying i’d rather not go, dipshit.” you shook your head before getting up to go to the other room. but not before overhearing him say that he guesses the trip will continue.

you assumed they already threw your stuff in the van because your luggage was nowhere to be seen. you walked up to the car and knocked on the heavily tinted windows before you heard the loud sliding of the door. greeted by dabi’s shit eating grin with his thumb pointing towards the back.

fuck - they tricked you.

you weren’t gonna sit alone, you were gonna sit on a lap. tomura shigaraki’s lap. out of everyone they chose AFO’s successor and the guy you had the hots for. “are you actually joking with me?” anger ran through your veins when you realized the situation but all your stuff was in that very luggage (that was in the van already) and no way in hell were they letting you get it back now.

“what? it’s just shiggy.”

that’s what happens when you trust a villain.

now you were sitting uncomfortably on tomura’s lap. it was miserable and you could tell he was too. the van had only one seat in the back with the rest of the space for luggage so you offered for yourself to sit on the floor surrounded by all the luggage in which he declined.

not that he was forbidding you to move but that it was okay for you to sit on him. he’d wrap his arms around you when you guys were on a bumpy trail, as if he was your very own seatbelt. you had to stop yourself from letting yourself indulge in your sinful thoughts when this happened so you distracted yourself by having conversation with everyone in the front where tomura occasionally joined in on.

so that’s why it was actually hell when everyone fell asleep (except kurogiri cuz he’s driving IDK KEAVE ME AKONE joke). the only people awake other than kurogiri were you and tomura because 1. you couldn’t sleep on his lap 2. he couldn’t sleep with someone on his lap.

“shigaraki… do you want me to move to the floor?” your turned your head to ask him in a quick whisper. he met your gaze with a shake of his head before hugging you from behind and resting his head on your back.

your eyes widened at the realization of what was happening right now. you were never that close to him before, only interacting through messages or meetings.

oh and you knew you were in for a ride (pun intended) when you felt something poke against your ass. he stayed silent, still in the same position as before, albeit with a tighter grip.

“shig.”

Bakugou Katsuki is obsessed with you.

And he doesn't even try to hide it.

You're his sidekick. You had trained in his Agency since you were a mere brat doing your internship your first year at UA. Of course, there were literally counted the times you had encountered him in person. The other Heroes that joined his Agency were the ones in charge of the kids. They had told you how Dynamight hated when babysitting time came every year, he wouldn't even participate in those actually. So they would advice to not cross his path.

From time to time, Dynamight would watch their sparrings sessions, gave them a bit of advice–more like mean criticism yell at them. But he had better things to do, people to save, villains to get their asses destroyed by him. He was not going to waste his time with annoying brats like you.

He had heard of you, of course. The one brat that could control and handle freaking lava like it was fucking nothing. Of course when he saw you, he thought his sidekick had pulled a prank on him, joking to see if would be excited about the idea of having someone with that type of Quirk in his Agency. You couldn't be the one with the lava quirk. You looked... normal. Quirkless even–if this were other times and if he would judge people about it. He had changed, okay? Thank you very fucking much. But he did think it was impossible that you were that amazing brat the other heroes were talking about. They had even compared you to him, in witty and determination to become the number one Pro Hero on the ranks, in strength and no mercy against villains, or other heroes and classmates.

When he stood right in front of you one day, towering almost three heads over you and almost one more person's size to the side, Dynamight laughed. You looked like a little bunny caught red-handed, terrified by everyone around you–especially by the size of him–and skittish, almost like what Deku had been as a kid.

That should have been a first warning for Bakugou–never judge a book by its cover.

You have trained in his Agency the three years you had been in UA, and he has never once seen you nor your Quirk on display, nevertheless in real action. He had only heard how good you were in trainings from the other heroes. But he didn't care enough to actually sought-after. He was already fighting Deku for the number one spot on the rankings, he didn't have time for brats like you.

Until one day, a dangerous villain, that created enormous monsters of metal almost to the size of a ten flour building, was causing too much disaster appeared. It was more than chaos, it had been a destruction like no other.

Dynamight nor Deku could contain the motherfucker.

He was bruised, his hands beat with agony at the amount of times he had used his blasts and the push to keep going, his body muscles were screaming for him to stop. A quick glance to his side where Deku was, and the guy wasn't better than him, breathing like his lungs couldn’t no more. Every other hero in the scene was in the same shape.

They were fucking losing.

And then, like an angel sent from heaven–or better said, a demon sent from the deepest hell for the way you fucking looked, you appeared in all your majestic glory, lava making you slide in between them, surrounding you like it was nothing, like strings coming from inside your body, and began a new fight with that fucking villain's monsters.

Bakugou saw –an enamored expression on his face– how you your whole demeanor changed, your skin, your eyes, everything in you became so menacingly, so evil looking, so freaking scary, that if you weren't training to be a Hero, he thought you would be one the most terrifying villains of all times –even more than that piece of shit AFO.

The lava was visible in all your body, and you fought, a crazed smile and eyes opened wide, enjoying the damage you were doing to the metal monsters; your joy was shining bright for everyone to see, as you yelled, "DIE, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!" as the monster melted under your hands and body.

He was captivated, fucking spellbound, by the sight in front of him. He fell to his knees, watching you melt every single one of the monster in one more movement of your hand, as lava flowed towards them, capturing and melting them as you stand straight, the expression on your face serious and deadly. Bakugou's stomach turned thinking he might had won you over that. But before he could finish the sentence, "Would you like a spot on my Ag–", you exclaimed a big YES, smiling warmly and eyes shining in excitement.

You became his partner then, in missions, in interviews, in meetings with other Agencies when some big villain appeared and they had to join forces. You were always there, not behind him but next to him.

In interviews he would always let you speak about how everything went and thank every body who helped. But Katsuki would look at you. Look as the lava started to dissipate from your skin, slowly turning down the temperature and going back to your normal color. Your hair that became liquid lava slowly became the color of greyish-black rock and then smoothed its way to your normal texture and color. He always felt mesmerized watching the process, and he would look at it any opportunity he got.

It wasn't until one night out with his old friends that Pikachu said, "Dude, tone down your thirst a lil' bit," in between laughs with Raccoon Eyes and Shitty Hair.

"What the fuck are you talking about?"

Kirishima patted his back, shaking his head, "Your sidekick, man. The lava girl?"

But watching you again in those videos, as you smiled so kindly to the reporters or other Hero friends or to even civilians while looking so freaking scary when your Quirk was activated, made something stir inside his belly.

And that's when he decided he would not hide his feelings for you anymore.

So now, a few years after, when you are married to number two Pro Hero Dynamight, people always talk about how your husband always looks at you. How he always encourages you in your fights to "kill those fucking piece of shits, baby!!" as he is very close to you fighting his own set of shitty villains and you encourage him saying "show them who is the number two hero, love!" He looses it then, a blast that ends it all.

They talk about how he would always kiss you after a fight, even after all that adrenaline that makes him want to bury himself deep inside your warmth, he only holds your face gently, gloved thumbs caressing your cheeks lovingly, eyes locked onto each other like the world doesn't exist outside that moment, and he kisses you softly, a simple touch, a cute press of lips that lasts a millisecond so he doesn't burn the skin of his face and lips. And then he pulls one of your hands with his up in victory.

He didn't only win the battles, he won you each and every time he got to simply look at you, be next to you, kiss you.

He is obsessed with you, and he doesn't want to fucking hide it from the world.

A recently graduated Midoriya took All Mights' advice and became a police officer working under Detective Tsukauchi. He's massively successful to the point that his co-workers joke he's their station's personal on-call hero.

A reporter misunderstands a statement made by one of his colleagues after his capture of Stain and writes an article about this up and coming hero! Who might just make it to the top 30!

Izuku wants to hide in a box

His station loses their shit. Especially when they jokingly submit his arrest records to the paper, only for another article to be released, arguing that with his statistics, Endeavor should be a rank lower.

A page is started to compare Midoriya's ongoing statistics to those of the current ranking pro heros.

Aizawa wonders how he managed to dodge getting this problem child in his class. Little does he know it's because The Principal got there first.

A recently graduated Shoto loses his shit as social media begins to make meme after meme of his father, as the gap between Endeavor's records and this unknown police officer's get smaller and smaller.

AKA the AU where Detective Tsukauchi is a proud father to a baby officer with anxiety issues who can and will fuck you up. Midoriya has the power of Nezu and 4am quirk analysis on his side.

Personal headcanons for this AU:

Tsukauchi is quirkless, he's just that good at reading body language that people assume he has a quirk.

All Might suggested being an officer not because he thought Midoriya couldn't be a hero, but because he knew just how damn successful Tsukauchi is as one.

All Might is the cool uncle who brings the station snacks after his patrol.

Midoriya works with Nezu and Hatsume to make AFO his very own ✨Quirk erasing bullet✨ All Might is gonna retire in peace if it's the last thing he does.

Bakugo went through his redemption arc during his time at UA and doesn't know whether to laugh or cry as his childhood friend inches closer to the 2nd spot on the hero ranks. He ends up laughing because screw Endeavor.

The implication that society at large hasn't learned a thing from its Original Sin (Shigaraki's backstory) is making me ill... Between this and Touya/Dabi's ending, I feel like I'm reading the ending of a tragedy from an Outsider POV or the bad ending path in some video game and being told to Suck It Up Buttercup, because this is a Good Ending Actually!! I've never felt more insulted reading the ending of a story...

Oh same here; a part of me is even beginning to wonder that you might be on to something labeling the whole story a tragedy. The more closely you look into things, the more it looks like every aspect of this ending is a tragedy underneath a thin veneer of “well things are happy and the day is saved now.” I’m almost suspecting if it’s on purpose.

Dabi was beaten, and now Touya is stuck in cenobite cosplay in prison as he lives out the rest of his single digit days letting his abuser talk at him while the rest of the Todorokis wait to hear that the eldest son has died once again.

Anyone considering that the next AFO or Tomura could be out there is taking the exact opposite approach from correct; saying they need to not be sympathetic and instead close their hearts to such a person to better persecute them, driving such folk to villainy faster.

We don't know what happened to Toga but the faces we've seen on Uraraka these past few chapters do not fill me with hope.

We started out with a 4-digit, maybe even 5-digit hero figure when this all started, and the only solution we’ve seen anyone think of (and only as a joke) is to fill the streets with more heroes. Otherwise you can’t fix this; Deku’s talk with AM and Taukauchi ends concluding that you can’t prevent these tragedies.

That sucks when the end of humanity is coming sometime in the next century; just far enough away that no one cares, just close enough that no one can stop it. And though a cure was developed, Deku smashed it to dust and scattered it to the winds alongside the guy he vowed to save; and when the end comes, likely no one will know that Tomura could have prevented this.

It feels poetic how much this reflects hero society as a whole, how much it repeats everything Tomura said in real time. All this present tragedy and future disaster swept under the rug of “but the big bad villain is dead, smashed to pieces by the next symbol, the day is saved, isn’t it?” I once thought MHA was supposed to be optimistic. It has not turned out that way. But it might turn around my opinion on Hori’s writing if that turned out to be on purpose.

...But that might be too much to hope for.

Shigaraki has been confirmed to have played a lot of PvP games, but then switched to simulation games. We know he plays League of Legends (I’m pretty sure that’s where he got the name of the league from lmao) He was a League of Legends/Call of Duty/Fortnite gamer. I’ve joked about it before, but I think he’d actually really like Animal Crossing. The game is so reflective of taking on the role of a leader and caring for your villagers and making the town better for them (like he wants for the league members 😭)

Spinner is also confirmed to have liked League of Legends, and from the context we get about him and Shigaraki bonding over video games, I’m willing to bet their tastes are very similar— however he loves the Grand Theft Auto series. (That is how he learned to drive, after all). Also, I feel like he’s probably lost several months of his life to World of Warcraft.

Dabi doesn’t game very often, but he’s the only one in the league who is willing to play horror games. He probably also likes games like Dead by Daylight, but only if his role is the killer.

Toga gives me Sims energy and she works hours on making her sims perfect (yes, she will make people she knows irl). She also definitely plays dress-up games and dating sims.

Magne doesn’t strike me as an avid gamer, but she would LOVE playing the Jackbox party games with the league. She also gets mad competitive over board games lmao

Twice gives me classic Nintendo vibes. Super Mario, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong (etc.) He probably loves Super Smash Bros.

Mr. Compress also doesn’t strike me as an avid gamer, but Shigaraki once suggested Ace Attorney to him and he loved it. (this man lives for a courtroom drama)

Kurogiri unfortunately isn’t a gamer. However, I could see Shigaraki trying to teach him how to play video games and then Kurogiri trying to teach Shigaraki how to play card/bar games in return.
