a.n; fare warning, THIS IS A MONSTER<3 lol
Fuckin' Marry Me Series | First Part | Second Part |
The gentle sound of the scribble your pen makes over the paper, right where it requires your formal signature, is heard louder than you expected in that tense silence. Well, it isn't a bad silence, but more like an anxious one. One that has Bakugou, who is sitting right next to you, literally shaking his right leg up and down continuously, even though you already told him you would do this.
And what does ‘this’ mean? It means you agreed to marry Bakugou-annoying ass-Katsuki. To help him finally be free from his own mother's clutches.
You had a hard time believing in the whole story he told you when he knocked on your door last Sunday morning –almost tearing down the door actually– after his father died. Even though you had agreed that same day, you asked him for a few days to clear your head a bit. He accepted, respecting your space even at work, which was weird.
A normal day at work always starts with a banter with this same man right at the entrance of the company and it follows until you enter the elevator. Everyone is already used to it, so they ignore both of you. It mostly ends when you have to get off on the floor where your office is, which is one under the one where all heroes keep their hero costumes and get changed. Of course, sometimes the banter would continue if you were assigned to work with Hero Dynamight through the earbuds that connected you at a distance.
That Monday morning though, was different. Weird for everyone who looked at both of you in shock. The moment you stood in front of the other right outside the company, everyone was waiting for it to happen, yet found themselves opening their eyes wide in surprise as you and Bakugou simply bowed slightly in hello and walked towards the building in complete silence. It followed inside the elevator, where he willingly stood next to you –you always stood on each side of it to avoid even accidentally touching. Nobody could believe their eyes. Especially when it was your moment to walk out on your floor and he said, “See ya’ around”, and you turned your head towards him and slightly smiled, murmuring a timidly, “You too. Take care outside.”
That day you weren't assigned to work with him, nor the two days after –in which these same actions and words were repeated by both of you every morning– yet you could feel the whispers and gossip around about this neutral ground between you two. Your boss even called you to his office to ask if everything was okay.
You internally laughed at the situation. It was so normal for you to fight with Bakugou that everyone found it weird and worrisome if you didn't. It was actually hilarious.
Wednesday shift had you entering the office at 5 p.m. and would have you leaving at almost 3 a.m. –if the hero assigned to you didn't get caught in a villain fight around that time. So when you were about to take the elevator and its door opened, you almost bumped into a freshly showered and already leaving Bakugou Katsuki.
“Oh, hey…”
“Hey,” he answered back. Both of you took a step out of the elevator, standing right in front of each other. One of his hands flew to the back of his head, scratching it and making small droplets of his still wet hair fall as he spoke, “I was, ummm, gonna talk to you today… but, umm, your shift…”
“Oh yeah, it's night shift today,” you nodded, hands holding the strap of your bag, trying to look casual and not let the nerves be shown. “Yours finished?”
“Yeah, tomorrow's night shift for me.”
“I know, I'm with you tomorrow,” you smiled.
His eyebrows pulled up, nodding in acceptance, “Cool.”
Yours frown, tilting your head a bit to the side, “Is it? Since when?” Now that you think about it, all that neutral ground between you two was very weird. New, but weird.
He rolled his eyes, hands hiding inside the pockets of his jacket.
“Since I'm trynna marry y–”
“Shhhh! Shut it, not here!” He smirked arrogantly. Ah, there's the comeback of the old annoying Bakugou.
“I–...”
“KATSUKI!”
A screeching yell made the hairs of your arms stand in alert, completely unexpected for you. Yet for the man in front of you was a sound he was very familiar with. He grunted, his mood completely changing into anger as he turned around towards the yell.
“The fuck are you doing here, old hag?”
Oh. His mother.
You have seen her at a distance before, never actually got to meet her personally or even hear her voice –you were glad about that last particular fact though, she sounded awful.
You didn't miss to recognize the position Bakugou had you at the moment when he turned around and covered your small form behind his massive body from his mother to even acknowledge your presence there. You're grateful for his surprising and kind of sensitive tact. He's giving you an out from that, what you know for sure was going to be, a quite tense moment.
“I fucking told you, you need to hurry! I’m not fucking waiting for you any longer!” She yelled again, not caring at all about the place she was nor the people around in the lobby.
Bakugou looked to the side, taking a very deep breath before pinching his nose. His hand then hung loosely on the side of his body, but he kept opening and closing his hand in a fist. Oh wow, he was really holding himself back.
You didn't know what possessed you to do what you did or why, but you acted before thinking.
Your hand flew towards his, holding his trembling fist tightly. You knew it took him by surprise, but he hid it well by standing straighter, body still hiding you behind him. You knew for a fact that his face didn’t show any emotion other than anger, so nothing was amiss. His arm flexed behind him, bringing yours with his, as his hand opened and held yours tightly back.
This had been the very first time you willingly touched him. The first time you actually ever touched him at all. And your eyes couldn't leave the sight of his big hand fully surrounding yours, making you feel smaller than ever. I mean, you had eyes, he was a freaking hulk next to you. But the warm feeling of it enclosing yours securely made you feel safe, protected. It also felt calloused, a hand that was used every day to bring down bad guys and protect a whole nation, if not the world. Yet the warmth in it made your whole body tingle.
Fuck. What was this?
“I fuckin’ told you not to come in the first place,” he didn't need to yell, his voice sounded loud and clear even at the distance.
“HURRY THE FUCK UP!”
You tightened your hold on his hand, just to ground him in support. He sighed, returning the gesture to thank you before saying in his mother's direction, “I'm fuckin’ going, you pain in the ass”, and walked towards her, letting go of your hand.
His mother simply turned and walked in front of him outside of the building. She never realized you had been there the whole time.
The moment had been so stressful, and if that was what Bakugou had to deal with every day since he was born, damn. You actually felt sorry for him.
Thanks to the glass walls of the lobby you could watch the Bakugous walk towards the expensive car waiting for them outside. They were clearly shit-talking to each other the whole way, until before they got inside the car, his mother actually slapped the back of his head strongly. Twice.
A rising rage traveled up your body, hands closing in fists. What the fuck?! Who the fuck did she think she was? Why the hell did she need to fucking hit him like that, twice? Why the hell did she do it at all? Fuck, you were starting to believe in everything Bakugou told you about her.
“You get it now, don't you?” Izuku's voice from behind you made you jump a bit in surprise.
You cleared your throat, looking elsewhere and breathing deeply, trying to clear your head.
“I don't–”
Izuku's hand raised, making you go silent. “Before you come up with a clever excuse, let me remind you that Kacchan and I have been friends since diapers… and we talk to each other.”
His eyeing made you gulp, but his words were clear enough, “You know then.”
He nodded, hand detaining the elevator’s doors so you both could enter, him after you. “He came to my apartment right after and told me all that happened. I was at the funeral too.”
He didn't need to explain anymore, it was more than clear he was talking about last Sunday when Bakugou asked you to marry him. You knew his father had died sometime Saturday afternoon and that the funeral was held that same night. Bakugou had come to your apartment right after his father had been cremated.
“I know you two fight like cats and dogs all the time, but he's not that bad once you give him a chance. And by what you just saw, I know you understand now why he's always on the defensive.”
You sigh. Damn it, you do. Growing up in an environment like that made you think it was actually a miracle Bakugou turned out the way he did.
“I also know that you agreed to marry him to help him be finally free from his mother,” he confirmed out loud once the doors of the elevator closed and it was just the two of you in there.
“Any advice?”
He chuckled, turning his whole body and looking directly at you, “Be open-minded. Kacchan's mouth sometimes opens before he thinks and his words don't mean what he actually intended, but his actions speak louder than anything.”
You rolled your eyes. Ugh, you were feeling the stress already.
The elevator signaled that you had arrived at your floor, so you sighed, nodding in his way as an answer and walking outside. But before the doors closed, Izuku held them for a bit longer to talk again.
“Also… Be smarter.”
“Than him?” You asked confused.
“Than her.”
And with that, he let the doors close, a smile plastered on his face that told on all the mischief his eyes shined with.
This little… cheeky bastard.
The audacity.
You made a mental note to punch Izuku the next time you bumped into him. On purpose.
Throughout the rest of the day, you couldn't get that image of Bakugou being abused by his own mother out of your head. Because yes, it was fucking abuse. And in fucking public! How many times had this happened already? And why the fuck no one had ever said or done anything against it? Even when he was a kid?!
It was outrageous.
And the fact that Bakugou held himself back, because you knew he did, not only because she was his mother but also because she was a woman –and you could bet she fucking used that at her advantage– only spoke about the kind of man he was.
Bakugou Katsuki is a good man.
You took your cell phone out and searched for his contact number, your fingers flying over the keyboard.
You: Make the appointment for this Friday.
His reply didn't take long.
Bakugou K.: Done.
You took a deep breath. The decision was made. And you were not going to back out from it. Or so you hoped.
Another notification made your phone ring and it was another text message.
Bakugou K.: Thank you.
The beginning of a smile threatened to break out from your mouth as you re-read that message several times. Until the loud pip-ing that alerted a villain attack completely distracted you, or more like, brought you back to reality.
The rest of the days went faster than you expected.
The shift on Wednesday ended on time, miraculously. So at exactly 3 a.m. you were turning off your computer and putting your stuff back in your bag. You had several notifications on your phone but didn't feel like giving them your attention at that moment, choosing to concentrate on clearing your space and going back home. You let out several yawns when you got inside the elevator, holding yourself on the handrail, sleep having you on the verge of passing out tired of the stressful days. For some reason, villains chose that week to be more active than usual, which demanded more of your focus and being in constant alert mode.
When the doors finally opened on the lobby floor, you walked towards the check-in clock to mark the end of your shift. You bowed goodbye to the receptionist and walked towards the entrance of the company. For a moment, you entertained your mind with the idea of taking a taxi to get home faster. But damn it, that was expensive, and you were not going to waste money like that. And even if you wanted to, you couldn't.
You sighed, covering your neck as best as you could with your coat once you crossed the doors, and began your walk in the direction you needed to go. It was a very chilly night, but because it was Spring, you didn't expect such cold weather.
You were thinking about how you'd have to resist this coldness until you got home when you looked up and recognized Bakugou's obviously expensive car and him resting against it, arms crossed over his chest.
“What are you doing here?”
“You didn't check your messages, short-legs?”
You denied, head shaking, “I finished the shift and packed everything. Wanted to leave as soon as possible…”
He snorted, shaking his head, “Get in. I'll take you home.”
“Oh, it's okay. I can walk…”
He frowned, “The fuck you think I would be here for then? Get in the car, dumbass.”
“Geez. Okay! No need to get grumpy, asshole.”
You rounded his car towards the passenger seat and climbed in. He followed and got on the driver's side.
The inside was warm, as the heater had been on. You smiled gladly, rubbing your freezing-cold hands to warm them up faster.
“Can't believe you were planning to walk home. Are you stupid?”
You opened your mouth, ready to fire back, but Izuku's words invaded your mind.
“…Kacchan's mouth sometimes opens before he thinks and his words don't mean what he actually intended, but his actions speak louder than anything…”
You thought for a moment, and it was actually easier than you thought to figure it out. Bakugou wasn't actually trying to insult you. He was worried that you would walk home that early in the morning, when the sun wasn't even out yet, in that weather.
Oh. That changed the perspective entirely.
“Yeah, actually,” you chuckled, hands still rubbing to heat them up. “I can't afford a taxi, and the subway isn't open yet.”
He turned on the car, but his attention was on you, “What you mean you can't afford a stupid taxi? Isn't your pay–…”
You denied, body relaxing a bit over the seat thanks to the warmth as he drove smoothly. You liked warm things. Spring was your favorite season because of it.
“Contrary to common belief, Quirk & Training Specialists don't gain much.”
“What?! Why? I mean… Most of the time is thanks to your area that we heroes are fuckin’ alive.”
“Awww. Thank you for admitting it! Now, would you admit that publicly?”
“Of fuckin’ course I would!”
You smiled, “Well, you would be the first one. Tell me, do you think other heroes would willingly admit that their wins sometimes belong to a ghost that tells them what to do or where to go through their earbuds?”
Your words made him close his mouth. Aha. Touché.
You chuckled, “It's okay, Bakugou. It's my job.”
“Now that I think about it, your name is nowhere to be seen in my reports. It's not even fuckin’ mentioned as a sidekick or something.”
“That's because I'm not a sidekick. I'm just a quirkless person who is observant enough to point you the best way to go. I'm not that important…”
“Shut the fuck up.”
You looked at him, trying to decipher what he meant. He didn't mean to insult you, what he was trying to say is, “don't say that about yourself”.
Wow. Izuku was so right about that advice. You made a mental note to thank him the next time you saw him. After punching him, of course.
The rest of the car ride was silent. But not uncomfortable. The gentle sound of the heater turned on was relaxing enough to even doze you a bit, warm and content.
Bakugou didn't speak until he parked right in front of your apartment building. You immediately noticed you had probably slept the rest of the way.
“I'm sorry, I think I fell asleep.”
“You think?” He chuckled, face looking your way. You snorted back, finding his teasing funny. His crooked smile made tingles run up your arms. Or was it the heater? Yes, that probably was it, the heater.
You cleared your throat and looked down at your seat belt and untied it –wait. You didn't remember putting it on. Did he… Did he put it on you when you fell asleep? Oh, my. You gulped, feeling the tingles run all over your body again. Fuck. You needed to leave that small space you shared with this man, like… now.
But before you did, you looked back at him one more time.
“Thank you… for driving me home,” you pulled a rebellious strand of hair behind your ear and smiled. You were indeed grateful that you actually didn't have to freeze on your way home, so you bowed slightly too.
You were about to open the door when he spoke.
“Wait,” you turned back at him and watched curiously as he opened the compartment, taking out a small folder.
He pushed it in your direction and looked expectantly at you. You took it, a bit doubtful, not quite understanding what it meant.
“I said I would sign a contract if that's what you wanted. It's just a draft, but I put some items in there that I want you to check. You can add some yourself. And if we both agree, we can sign it.”
Oh. “Oh, okay… I'll check it out and let you know.”
He nodded in response and you finally got out of the car and ran through the shocking cold towards your building. Inside the elevator, you pressed the folder over your chest. This felt way more real than what you felt earlier when you made the final decision and texted him.
But something tasted a bit… bitter. Was this something you had to do on your own? Like, the marriage was between the both of you. And while it wasn’t one out of a loving relationship, it was still something that included both. This contract thing felt like something you needed to sit down and review together.
You decided then.
Your hand searched for your phone in your bag, and ignoring all the notifications, you directly made the call.
Not one ring later, he picked up the call.
“Are you o–...”
“Did you leave?” You interrupted him before he could say anything else.
“No, I'm still down here.”
“Umm, are you tired? Cause if you are we can definitely leave it for tomorrow, or better said later, but I slept through the car ride so I'm not that tired anymore, but if you think–”
“Cut the fuckin’ rambling. Go to the point, short-legs.”
You sighed, fingers sliding through your hair and pulling it back. “If you want, he can revise this now. I think it's better if we do it together.”
You heard the intake of a deep breath, a relieved one, before he said, “Yeah… Okay. I'm on my way up.” The sound of the car's door closing confirmed he was on his way.
“Okay.”
“Okay.” He repeated and then ended the call.
It took you both three hours and just one heated discussion to come to terms with each of the items. Both satisfied with the consensual agreements, you brought out your laptop and rewrote it. You printed two copies, one for each, that you both signed. That's how the contract was ready and done. Now the next and final step would be the marriage in front of a judge. That Friday. In one day.
“We need two witnesses,” you reminded him, to which he grunted.
“Right, I forgot about that.”
“Well, we already know who you are picking…”
He pulled up an eyebrow, looking in your direction, “Huh? And who am I picking, know-it-all?”
You rolled your eyes, but smiled nonetheless, “Izuku.”
He tched, not admitting it out loud, but it was obvious you were right.
You chose to let it be and not cause any banter, mostly because you definitely felt more tired than a few hours back.
“Smart-ass. Then who are you picking, mmh?”
You shrugged, “I don't know. I was thinking Mina,” his groan made you chuckle, “but I think Jirou would keep a low profile better.”
“Yeah, good thinking.” You nodded in agreement. You loved Mina, and you knew he did too, but she couldn't keep things down sometimes. And one of the items was to keep a low profile throughout the whole marriage thing. Bakugou hated the press and paparazzi, and you weren't a fan of them either. Even though you had never been the center of attention of them, you actually preferred to keep it that way. On the low and as invisible as possible.
Thursday went very quiet and chill, which was very surprising considering it was Dynamight's shift. Sometimes, villains made you think they had a particular masochistic side and loved appearing whenever Pro Hero Dynamight was around. Some of them even loved to provoke him on purpose so he would yell all those obscenities towards them. And they enjoyed it. Freaks.
But not that Thursday. It had been a very peaceful one. It even found you chatting with Bakugou through the earbuds.
“So what now, ya’ gonna fuckin’ tell me Endeavor is better than All Might?”
“Oh, shut up, you All Might-obsessed-freak! I will admit All Might was huge, but you can't deny Endeavor stood his ground and made big stuff too.”
“Like fuckin’ what?”
“The fight with the nomu–”
“HA! Please! That was child's play. All Might took down AFO.”
“Yeah. But it was Deku who won against him in the end, not him. And All Might only fought twice against AFO. Endeavor killed a powerful nomu.”
“You are so fuckin’ blind!”
“You are the blind one!”
“How could you say Endeavor is better than All Might?!”
“I did not say that!”
“Wait– then what did y–?”
“I just said, Endeavor was N° 1 too. He was a Hero too. He deserves a bit of recognition.”
You could hear Bakugou’s snort, “So you like them complicated and misunderstood…”
Bakugou’s malice in his teasing was palpable, yet you always had an answer for him.
“Well… What does that say about you?”
“Oh, shut the fuck up!”
If you had been paying attention to your surroundings, you would have noticed all your co-workers smiling at your cute banter with Bakugou. Yet you were so invested in it, you didn't notice.
Conversations that also led to getting to know each other a little bit more also happened.
“I like orange. You?”
The question took you by surprise after almost half an hour of silence from both ends. Yet, it didn't surprise you at all his preference in color. It was kind of obvious.
“Figures. It doesn't surprise me at all–”
“What the fuck does that mean?!”
“Mine is purple.”
“Why?”
“Ummm, I don't know. I always pictured that if I had become a Hero, my costume would be purple. I decided that even before I knew if I had a Quirk or not.”
You had said it in a conversational tone, never intended to make him feel some type of way. Yet, he still asked, “And is still your favorite, even after–”
“–after I found out I am quirkless? Yes. Why wouldn't it be?”
“Mmmh,” was his simple answer.
The shift ended peacefully and on time, which both of you were grateful for, considering what the following day was.
When the shift was over, you waited a considerate couple of minutes. Minutes it would take the heroes to come back from their shift to the company. Then, you got inside the elevator but instead of going down, you went one floor up.
Your phone rang with a notification.
Bakugou K.: You asked her yet?
You rolled your eyes. So impatient.
You: No, I'm about to. I'm on your floor.
Bakugou K.: Slow ass.
You still wanted to punch him, sometimes.
You put your phone back inside your bag as you walked towards the girls’ wing of the floor, completely avoiding even looking at the boys' wing way. You knocked two times before Ochako opened the door slightly to look who it was.
“Oh, hi, Y/N!”
“Y/N!”
“Hi!”
“Hello, Y/N.”
“HI BABY!!”
All the girls present that shift greeted you cheerfully, especially Mina. You greeted back while entering the room and closing the door behind you.
You chatted with all of them here and there as they got changed, not an ounce of shyness between all of you. You were friends with almost all of them, having already worked with the majority of the girls and hung out with them many times. You knew almost all about them. Their sleep faces, their ugly cries, their drunk personalities. All of it. And they knew you too. That's why you didn't need to be subtle at all when you said, “I actually need to speak with Jirou for a moment”. Everyone understood and took it nicely as they hurried a bit their way into their clothes and grabbed their stuff before leaving you two alone.
All of them knew you and Jirou had a special friendship, a close one. She was the one you always went to when you really needed to confide in someone with something deep within you. The same thing was for Jirou. You were actually the first one of all to know when Denki confessed his feelings to her, and even talked her through her own ‘secret’ feelings for him.
“What's up, buddy?” She straddled one of the benches and sat, patting the place in front of her for you to follow.
You sat in front of her crossing your legs under you, your bag actually forgotten on the floor down the bench.
“I'm going to tell you something, but I need you to keep an open mind and listen to it all before you say anything.”
She jerked her head back a bit, already feeling confused, “You're scaring me already.”
“You have no idea…” You sighed and began the tell-tale.
Her eyes kept opening wider and wider with each thing you told her about what had been happening with you and Bakugou these last days.
What it felt like probably an hour later, you finished with, “So, that's why… we are going to get married tomorrow.”
Jirou fastly stood up, almost jumping a few steps back, and pointed a finger at you.
“That's it! That's why you have been so civil to each other! I knew something was up with– WAIT,” oh yeah, you thought she hadn't quite listened to what you just said. But then it came, “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! Y/N!! YOU'RE FUCKING JOKING.”
You shook your head, “No, I'm not.” The calmness and firm tone in which you answered made her sidetrack tons in her own reaction, as she sat back down in front of you and took your hands in hers.
“Honey, it isn't your obligation to do any of this. You know that, right?”
You smiled, the clear worry in Jirou's eyes warming your little heart. You had such a good friend.
“I do. But I want to do this. For him.” You were sincere, and you knew Jirou could see it in your eyes too.
“Even though you don’t like each other??”
“Even though we don’t like each other.”
You repeated, but your tone was decisive. Jirou looked at you silently for a moment, then sighed and nodded.
“Okay… Whatever you choose, I'm here for and with you.” Your arms immediately surrounded her neck in a hug. She returned it gladly, patting your back in reassurance. “And if he hurts you, just tell me. I'll make him pay.”
You laughed amusingly. “I know you will. But this isn't the only thing I'm here for.”
She groaned, “There's more?! I don't know how much my heart can take...”
“Well, will it survive if I ask you to be my witness tomorrow?”
Jirou's eyes filled with tears before it was her turn to surround your neck in a tight hug.
“I'll take that as a yes,” you both giggled, hugging each other tight.
Twenty minutes later you were both leaving the building of the company and you walked her towards the motorcycle parking lot where she had hers.
“I'll text you the location in the morning.”
“Alright, I can't wait for it!” She said excitedly, but then, she looked more intently at you. “I just want to say, this thing you're doing is beyond heroic. You're literally being a Hero right now.”
Her words touched something inside you that made you want to cry like a baby. Something so deep it made you feel like floating away with the harsh galloping your heart made against your chest. It didn't make sense, yet it actually did.
You gulped looking down at your feet, strongly holding back the cry that threatened to be released right in your throat.
“You need a ride back home?” She asked, completely ignoring –for your sake and out of respect– your glassy eyes.
“I'll take her home,” Bakugou's voice in the distance surprised both of you, yet you had been expecting something like this to happen. Something told you he would be waiting you after his shift.
Jirou looked at you waiting for your approval, and when you nodded, she put on her helmet and turned on her bike. You walked towards where Bakugou was standing with Jirou riding next to you, and when she was next to him, she said, “You better take care of my friend, or I'll come for your ass, don't care you're my friend too.”
Bakugou snorted, “I know you will, Ears.” He smiled, pulling down her face shield to annoy her. She punched him friendly on the shoulder before waving and driving away.
“She said yes then.”
You both began walking towards what you thought he had parked his car. “Yep. What did Izuku say?”
He rolled his eyes, “You know he said yes.”
You smiled, “I know, I was just being friendly and asked.”
“Smart-ass.”
“I am really going to punch you again, don't tempt me.”
“Yeah… If that one punch could be considered a punch, it would be ‘again’.”
“Oh, so you do want me to…”
You tried to reach his shoulder, but this time he was fast enough to dodge it expertly. “You really are slow, huh?” He mocked walking backwards and smirking.
“You want slow, asshole…”
He laughed, turning around and running away as you ran towards him trying to catch him.
He was a stupidly fast idiot.
So now, it is Friday, and you sit right next to Bakugou Katsuki. Both of you are in front of a judge who is officially marrying you. Jirou sits on your left, while Izuku sits on Bakugou's right. And you have just finished writing your signature where the bride's one goes. Bakugou has already signed his. It isn't until you put the pen down on the table that Bakugou stops bouncing his leg and breathes in deep.
You want to laugh, finding his nerves quite funny. But you get it. This means more than just marriage to him.
It's freedom.
And you can't even imagine how nerve-racking that must feel for him. After all these years that he had to follow his mother's command and will just so he could follow his own dream, now he would be free.
That in itself brings you such a happy feeling for him.
If anyone would have ever told you that you would be doing this for none other than Bakugou-annoying ass-Katsuki, you would have sent them to a psychiatrist. Immediately.
Fate is a strange thing.
After the turn for the witnesses to sign, the judge says boringly, “By the authority vested in me by the government of Tokyo, I pronounce you husband and wife.”
He doesn't even wait nor expect the newlyweds to kiss or exchange rings as he closes the book and gives Bakugou the previous enrollment you both signed.
And that is it. You are officially married to Bakugou Katsuki.
“Who are you with on today's shift? What time are you out?”
His questions make you come back to reality after a quiet drive toward the company in his car, which you spend looking at the golden ring that now adorns your left hand. When you look up, the shining of the golden ring on his left hand catches your attention as he circles the steering wheel so the car turns on a corner, the company appearing in your view in the distance.
“Umm, I'm with Izuku. If everything goes well, at 3 a.m.”
“Okay. I’ll come pick you up.”
“Bakugou, it’s okay, I can walk home,” you insist for the nth time.
“Bullshit–”
“–Besides, you have morning patrol tomorrow,” you continue, completely ignoring his dirty mouth, “You can’t interrupt your sleep like this every time I have this shift. You need to be awake for your job.”
He grunts, muttering something that you can’t quite decipher what he said. You roll your eyes, thinking he acts like a petulant child sometimes.
A moment later, Bakugou enters the parking lot with his car, to which you look confused at him. Why is he entering the company on his day off?
He answers even before you can articulate your words, “I need to pick up some unfinished reports I have to turn in tomorrow.”
You pull up an eyebrow, untying the seatbelt and getting out of his car once he finally parks, “Wow. Dynamight is lacking on his paperwork?”
“Shut up, short-legs.”
You snort at his lighthearted insult as you walk together inside the company. But right when you both cross the big doors, Bakugou stops and looks at you. You frown confused, he then motions down with his head and you see his hand open, waiting. Oh, right.
Item n°2: Act like we are in a real relationship. The lawyers for the companies always investigate deeper into each hero, so that their status and validation of mental sanity are correlated.
You put your hand over his, both closing on each other, its warmth making those damn tingles run up your arm. But neither of you says anything as you walk through the lobby of the company holding hands.
Everyone who looks opens their eyes wide, one of the receptionists even spills her coffee drink out of shock. You hold yourself from laughing. Another of the receptionists looks you up and down, a clear disgusted expression on her face. Ops. Well, it’s not like you liked her either.
However, both you and Bakugou walk with your heads held high. You know how shocking and out of character the image of you both holding hands like a couple looks. And fast, everything happened so fast. You can already hear the gossip about whatever this is that you might have with Bakugou is way too fast. But you haven’t done everything you did for them. It is for him. As surprising as that sounds, even for you.
He walks with you towards the clock where you have to mark your entrance, never dropping your hand as you do. Then, you walk together to the elevator waiting for it to arrive. As you wait and look down at your shoes, you feel before you actually see his other hand moving, fingers brushing against your ear when he tugs a strand of your hair that had been over your face. Surprised, you look up at him but still smile in thanks.
Bakugou retracts his hand quickly and puts it inside the pocket of his jacket, looking back at the elevator. You would tease him for the little blush his cheeks are showing, but you decide it’s not the moment, considering how all eyes are on you two.
When it arrives and you get in, standing very close to each other while watching how everyone tries to peep inside to see if you’re still holding hands or if anything else happens between you two, you both jolt a bit when a wild and hurried Izuku suddenly enters the elevator, jacket half off and hair disheveled. He also looks in surprise at you two, eyes traveling down at your connected hands. A shit-eating grin appears on his face as the doors of the elevator close.
“Shut up.”
Bakugou and you speak at the same time.
Izuku snorts, hands in the air in a sign of surrender. “Wasn’t going to say anything…”
“I sense a ‘but’...” You roll your eyes, and Bakugou hums in agreement.
The greenette smiles wider, “But I understand now why everyone was looking like they saw All Might in person.”
Bakugou insults him, just because he always wants to have the final say, making Izuku laugh out loud amused. You decide to ignore both of them until the elevator arrives at your floor.
“Don’t blow up the elevator,” you warn them both after Izuku answers back at Bakugou, just to spite him. Your hand gives Bakugou one last squeeze in goodbye before walking out, “I’m with you today, Izuku.”
“Oh, cool! I’ll get connected in a bit.” You nod in his direction and look at Bakugou one last time, smiling and waving.
The doors close and you don’t get to see him smile back at you.
The shift, as always with Pro Hero Deku, is not calm or chill. It’s hectic and dangerous, and it keeps demanding all your focus and senses on alert.
“You know, sometimes I believe you have a magnet for trouble stuck up in your ass…” you hear Izuku spill the drink he must have been probably about to swallow. You chuckle devilishly. Wow, two times in a day you make someone spill their drink, that must be a record.
“Damn. Not twenty-four hours of being married to him, and you are already influenced.”
“Oh, shut it,” you both laugh amicably.
Again, the pip-ing of alert sounds in your computer. You sigh, “Deku, another threat five streets down where you’re at now.”
“On my way!”
“See? A magnet in your ass…” Izuku laughs.
You both don’t get to chat about another thing that is not your job again for the rest of the shift.
At exactly 3:10 a.m. you let out a tired sigh, stretching your arms above you and moving your body from side to side as gentle cracks sound from your backbone. After Deku pushes a villain inside a police car and looks at it drive away for a moment, his yawn that you hear through the earbuds passed on to you as you involuntarily copy the action.
“That was the last one. I’m going back,” you agree with him as you press the option on the system that notifies everyone on the shift that your hero is coming back to headquarters.
“Done.”
“Thanks, Y/N, great work today!”
“You did it all, buddy.”
“Oh, no! None of us heroes could do it without you. All of you, really.”
You frown, a bit surprised. I mean, Izuku is always polite and thanks you after every shift, but today feels different. Like he is purposely saying that, as if he knew someone important was listening to their connection.
“You are… welcome?” You actually don’t know what to say. He simply chuckles.
By orders from your area, you can't leave until Deku’s entered the company back again, so you use that time to finish gathering your things and closing the system.
“I'm back. Wait for me, Y/N. I'll take you home,” not longer than five minutes later Izuku says through the earbuds.
“Oh. You don't have–”
“Kacchan asked me to.”
His words shut you up. But he doesn't wait for your answer as he finally disconnects the communication.
And you're left there, frozen for a moment, assimilating his words. Bakugou asked Izuku to take you home. He asked his best friend to take care of you, even when he knew Izuku would do it or offer on his own. Izuku always rode you home when you had night shifts together. Bakugou surely knows that. Then, why even mention it to his friend? Why personally ask Izuku to help you? Because… Bakugou didn't enter the company only for his unfinished paperwork. He did it to talk to Izuku. Was this… Bakugou taking care of you because you were married? Or because he wanted to?

sparks in your eyes
pairing: bakugou katsuki x gn!reader
word count: 1.5k
a/n: happy new year everyone !! ik i’m a week late but please enjoy this :)
content: soulmate au, ua students setting, everyone are third years, the class is like a whole family :’) we love to see it, newly established relationship, fireworks n sparklers, VERY soft katsuki, swearing yes, very tiny hint of angst, mostly sappy fluff for the new year !!
analysis: as the year comes to an end, you and katsuki enter the new one with sparks in your eyes.
———
they say you see sparks when you kiss your soulmate for the very first time.
and just with that saying, people dreamt of having their first kiss. of finding their soulmate in their first, if they were lucky enough.
but sometimes, your first significant other wasn’t always your soulmate. it wasn’t always your first relationship. sometimes you’d find them further down your life—sometimes, it’d take a lifetime to find who the universe had destined you with.
the frigid air of the last night of december is a chilling reminder that winter is yet to end, unlike the year.
famed class 3-a, now finally in their third years after long months and adventures of battling villains, are celebrating the new year together.
everyone’s gathered in the common area, conversing excitedly as everyone prepares to head into the streets for the fireworks and the countdown. (iida is doing his infamous hand motions as he makes sure everyone is bundled up properly. momo supplies an extra scarf or two.)
and here you are, nestled into katsuki’s side as the two of you wait on the couch with the rest of his friends. denki’s chatting up a storm per usual, and there’s the sound of hagakure and jirou laughing.
katsuki rubs his thumb over your hand absentmindedly as he deadpans something kirishima says, and you can’t help but snort.
it had taken bakugou a couple of months to muster up the courage to confess to you before it'd be too late. with the new year approaching, so is graduation—and the possibility of losing you as you all are thrusted into the lives of being actual pro heroes wasn’t something he was going to risk.
and it had been worth it. these past few weeks are proof of that. having the privilege of being your boyfriend—walking you to class hand in hand, staying up with you to bury all that studying into your head, sharing warmth underneath the sheets of his bed in his dorm room.
katsuki’s tugging you upward suddenly and you blink up at him in confusion, breaking out of your thoughts.
he catches your stare and scoffs fondly. “c’mon, brat. we’re headin’ out now.” he gestures to your classmates exiting the dorm building before he tugs you alongside him to follow them out.
“sooo..” denki elbows sero and kiri with a waggle of his brows before he glances to the rest of the class as they walk, “who’s ready to find their soulmate tonight? i know i am!”
there’s a few who roll their eyes at his statement while others blush—you can feel katsuki’s eyes linger on you but you don’t say anything as you join in the girls’ giggling.
“as if anyone would wanna kiss your dumb face, sparky!” bakugou barks out and the laughing rises.
the electric student sticks his tongue out at your boyfriend and crosses his arms. “yeah, yeah.”
there’s a few more snickers and the class blends into more easy conversations. it feels comfortable, it feels right to be like this. after all, having trained and lived alongside some of these people, they were bound to feel like family.
once you reach the outskirts of the city, everyone begins to spread out for the meantime to grab drinks, foods, etc. some of the class stay behind to still chat and light up sparklers.
you grab one from midoriya, turning to katsuki with a pleading look. “light mine for me, katsu?” you ask sweetly, twirling the stick in your fingers.
he rolls his eyes but he never can say no to you. “whatever. my explosions are cooler than some sparkler, y’know that, right?” even as he says this, he lights the damn thing for you.
“of course, suki,” you snort. once the sparkler burns, you wave it and threaten to jab it at the blonde. he glares at you playfully.
“watch it, brat!” he tells you with a smirk, “don’t wanna start the new year with some charred clothes, yeah?”
the empty threat has you gasping and you hold the sparkler in defense. “don’t you dare, bakugou katsuki!”
he sends you a stupid grin and you dash. he ends up chasing you around the street and you grab another sparkler for defense, maneuvering around your classmates with a shriek.
eventually, your sparklers die out and bakugou manages to snatch you up with a triumphant laugh. “hah! you thought you could run, huh, dumbass?”
“katsuki!” you giggle, “okay, okay! i surrender, lemme down!” when he sets you down, he ruffles your hair fondly. there’s a sudden flash and next thing you know your boyfriend is wrestling a pink-skinned girl for her phone.
(mina had made it out alive and promptly sent the moment to you afterwards, don’t worry.)
time passes and the countdown is nearing its final digits. things had definitely become more livelier as some of your classmates had returned back to the meeting spot and more people had trudged in.
“katsuki,” you say softly, tugging at his fingers as if to lure him away, “let’s head back to the dorms.”
“don’t you wanna stay with the others?” katsuki inquires, quirking up a brow at you. he seems surprised by your request.
you shake your head. “it’s okay. i just wanna be with you.”
you don’t know it but you make his head all fuzzy, especially when you say such sappy shit like that. his cheeks are red and it’s not just because of the cold. “fine,” he huffs, and he’s leading the way again.
once you’re back inside the heat of the common area, you glance at him, still walking towards the elevators.
“dumbass, where the hell are we goin’?” he questions you but he doesn’t protest as you keep dragging him along.
“the roof, katsu,” you simply explain to him, a bit giddy, “so we can still see the fireworks.”
bakugou hums in reply and is quiet during the elevator ride. the doors open and you take the rest of the stairs that lead up to the roof.
you let go of his hand to stand near the edge, looking over the bright lights of the city. it’s as if the buildings and streets are alive, even from this distance. the city bristles in anticipation of the countdown.
“are you going to kiss me, katsuki?”
the question catches him off guard even though he had been preparing for it all night. and the nights before that. (katsuki has been thinking of kissing you for weeks.)
you hear his light footsteps as he comes to stand behind you. “if you want me to,” comes his gruff reply.
you turn around to face him. the radiance of the moonlight slants over his features and though you’ve never doubted it, he’s the finest man you’ve ever seen. “do you?” you shoot back.
he visibly trembles. “fuckin’ hell, of course i wanna kiss you.”
his ferocity makes you forget how to breathe for a couple of heartbeats. “and what if..” you trail off but the question hangs in the air. and what if we’re not soulmates?
he answers you easily, slotting his hands in yours. they’re still warm. he’s like a walking furnace sometimes. “you think i wouldn’t be able to find my soulmate first try?” he snorts.
you roll your eyes then with a small smile. ever the confident one, he is. “i’m nervous,” you then confess quietly, flexing your fingers against his.
“don’t be, dumbass,” he scolds you. “i’m gonna kiss you ‘n it’s gonna be you. you really think the universe wouldn’t give me the perfect soulmate?”
bakugou doesn’t say words of flattery much—his affection is rather shown through actions and while you don’t mind, hearing his declaration has heat rushing to your cheeks.
puffs of air are visible as you breathe, but they mingle between the two of you. he’s so close. the sudden roar of the countdown sounds.
ten! nine! eight!
“okay,” you hum, drawing him closer.
seven! six! five!
“okay?” he says softly.
four! three!
“okay, katsuki.” you smile. “kiss me.”
two! one!
he leans forward and you meet him halfway, lips on his and then—the fireworks in the sky aren’t the ones you see. there’s a blaze and flurry of sparks that envelop you as your eyes flutter close.
you feel as if you’re on fire, the way katsuki’s lips mold against yours and he draws your body even closer. the brush of his thumb on your cheek has you gasping into his mouth and you know he can see it too.
you can still see them as you open your eyes slowly and barely pull away. you can see the sparks in his eyes, can feel the heat of them in his fingertips.
a silence hangs between you but it feels warm. the affirmation of your bond steady in the air, and it’s like your soul is sated. you had found each other.
“you were nervous, admit it,” you tease, utterly breathless and helplessly in love.
instead of vehement denial, his eyes soften and your heart leaps.
“no.” katsuki breathes and melts against you, entirely yours. “i told you i knew it’d be you.”
and when he kisses you again, the sparks are still there.

Bakugou headcanons bc if I don't have an mha audience on this godforsaken app then I will forge one out of my own blood and sweat
He likes lizards. Something about him just makes me think he was a lizard kid
Like he def would catch them and just watch them do their little lizard things as a kid
He probably owns one or two as an adult
I saw someone say this before but he was the type of kid to collect cool looking sticks and keep em in his bag, then forget about them until his mom finds them and yells at him
"KATSUKI WHATS WITH ALL THIS GARBAGE IN YOUR BACKPACK I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN THIS UP" *waving arms angrily* "I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH MY COOL STICKS!!!!"
Trans bakugou truthers I have one saved especially for u🫶
When he was a kid and was just starting to bind he wanted to feel like Mulan so he used bandages (very bad idea) and went to school like that (also a bad idea) and went to PE in that (an even worse idea)
He ended up passing out since he couldn't breathe and his teacher thought he was faking to get out of work, but ended up having to call an Ambulance
He has the energy of a kid with ADHD but who just forced himself to learn how to function properly
Like maybe as a kid he had trouble with it but it was his own decision to work hard to get better and now he is
That doesn't mean he doesn't have any other symptoms tho
He has a habit of letting his mind wander. If he's ever quiet with a calm expression and staring at nothing in particular, you know it's just The Voices putting his brain on autopilot for a while and not to bother him
I headcanon he would have 2 cats in high school, a beautiful black one he adores named Empress and a scrawny stupid looking calico named Spoingus who he found in a dumpster and just followed him home
OH ALSO ALSO
remember that black haired kid he was friends with back in middle school all the way from episode 1? (If u need a refresher just search "bakugou middle school friends")
Yea. They're exes btw. So.
They broke up mostly since black haired smoking dude (idk his name) was emotionally immature and distant, he wasn't able to be there for Katsuki the way he needed him to be.
This also ties in with my other headcanon that Katsuki is the more dependent one in the relationship, the more emotional
He definitely has a lot going on emotionally on his own, so he would want someone who can share that burden with.
You'll know he loves you when he's able to be vulnerable around you, otherwise you're just another friend or extra
He's bisexual, idc I'm calling it
I know the manga ended idgaf
He likes men who are emotionally stable, kind, and friendly, and he likes his women the exact opposite
Hc he has a thing for dominant women
Bro wants to be stepped on so badddddd😫😫😫

Tomura Shigaraki and AFO decided to strike a year earlier than cannon. Izuku and Katsuki were together because Katsuki was trying to hunt down Izuku to bully him some more. Then, Tomura launched his biggest attack yet and released lots of nomu. So, Izuku and Katsuki were stuck in the apocalypse together. Izuku's analysis and Katsuki's battle sense become incredible resources and they survive with each other's help (they also thrive, as Izuku is great when the most valuable thing in the world is knowledge, and Izuku helps Katsuki's quirk, as the second most valuable is strength). They become close friends. They become more, although they never define what they are because there was no one else to define it for. All that was left was them, and they already knew what they were to each other. Best friends, confidante, supports, heroes. They didn't think many people were alive, but the stories of their plights spread amongst the remaining survivors. Eventually, a rag-tag group of heroes and one escaped villain find them and recruit them. They go for a little (Katsuki is cautious and doesn't want to rely on others, but Izuku wants to build a suvivors group, so they agree on a trial period), and the group sees how good the others are at surviving and taking down nomu, so they start a small Rebellion. It soon grows large under the leadership of the two, and they both face off against Shigaraki in a final battle. There's no more nomu as they previously destroyed all the factories and killed all the other nomu. They become legends.

anyone else ever think about how *attractive* it would be if Bakugo put on eyeliner or an eyeshadow of sorts on under his mask to make it blend in with his eyes??? and then when he takes it off he’s got some emo-ass makeup on? like Batman??
so after a long patrol as a pro hero, he's def sweat and whatnot throughout the day so when he takes it off, he's got washed out streams of black all over his face.......or whenever he puts his mask on his forehead and accidentally gets it all over??
just me?

Part one of... I'm not sure yet? I was going to make this a one shot, but I ended up writing a lot more than I planned so it's going to be a fic. Short one but maybe 3-4 parts? Stay tuned :)
Overview:
While walking home one night in the rain, you find a very sickly cat laying in a destroyed box tucked into an alley. Being the pet lover you are, you rush the cat home to nurse him back to full health. Once recovered the cat begins to show his true colors of a bristly, attitude ridden cat who would more likely be a Pomeranian in another life. After several shenanigan ridden months with the cat, who is strangely attentive and extremely intelligent, you wake one day to your cat missing. In his place... an extremely handsome man. One who has seen all your embarrassing moments and just won't seem to let you live them down...
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugo x Reader
Warnings: SFW, possibly eventual NSFW. Fluff, swearing. Female reader mentioned but I try to keep majority of it neutral. Quirkless AU, Hybrids are rare and not known to the world.
Length: To be determined.
Part One: New Beginnings
--------------------------------------------
The rain beats down on the cement sidewalk with a vengeance as your fingers tightened around the umbrella handle, curling in on yourself with a shiver. The weather had been quite dreary for the last few days and the only reason for leaving the apartment this evening had been the low volume in your fridge. With some grumbles and a pair of rain boots you had made the executive decision to trudge out into the nasty weather for a trip to the grocery store. Said building was just around the corner, the bright lights a beacon of a safe temporary haven from the elements as the doors closed with a chime alerting your arrival. The teenage cashier at the counter gave a brief and uninterested greeting while you crossed to the aisle containing your selections.
A few items into the basket later you decided on just enough for tonight's meal and tomorrow would be just that, tomorrow's problem. With a sigh the cashier began ringing up your purchases, leaving you a moment to peer around the store to avoid awkward exchanges with the employee who would obviously rather be anywhere than their paying job. A small object in the display for impulse buys caught your attention, a plastic stick with a tiny ball of shiny fibers sat tilted in the rack. A sad smile crossed your face while shifting the cat toy's packaging upright in the display.
The item brought back memories of your first ever pet who had recently passed, vision blurring slightly as your fingers lightly tapped the object, so the attached bell jingled. The thought of getting another pet had crossed your mind, however unsure if you were ready for that just yet had nagged at the back of your mind.
Your hand fell to your side quickly as if burned when the cashier interrupted with an annoyed clearing of their throat.
"I asked if there was anything else you needed today?" With an embarrassed smile and a quick shake of your head, you finished the transaction and scurried out of the store. The cashier rolling their eyes and going back to their phone as you opened the umbrella once more to brave the elements.
Splashes of water from your boots hitting the wet ground were one of the few sounds heard in this late hour, besides the occasional car driving by disturbing the standing water in the streets. Only a few blocks until home where you could shed these cold damp clothes and put together the simple dinner with the ingredients in the bag. Followed by a warm blanket, maybe some hot chocolate and a good movie before bed. Hell, you may even have the ice cream you've been saving in the back of the freezer.
All your plans went right out the proverbial window when a faint wail of an animal in clear pain stopped you dead in your tracks. When nothing but the soft patter of rain resumed, the possibility of the sound being simply a trick of your mind crossed your thoughts. After waiting another short moment, you took a few steps once again towards home only to hear the wail once more, this time just barely louder than before. Almost like something was trying to get your attention.
To your left was a small alleyway filled with trash cans for some of the above apartments, some debris scattered around the area. Stepping just in between the buildings you attempted to locate the sound of the noise, wary if it was a sick racoon or animal waiting to bite you for your attempts to help.
"Hello?" Your voice echoed off the brick of the buildings, hoping to coax the animal to make more noise so you could locate it. A soft meow in response brought your attention to a very soggy cardboard box, holding on by barely a prayer as the rain continued to beat it down slowly but surely. "Are you in there?" You asked softly, knowing full well the animal was not going to answer your question like "Yes! I am here!"
Lifting the wet flap, your heart squeezed at the sight. Inside was a small curled up ball of fur, caked in mud and shivering heavily as its body huffed in obvious labored breathing. "Oh, you poor baby." You cooed, bending your knees to squat lower to the ground in the hopes to get a better look.
The cat had clearly been outside for a long time, though it did not look to be too old, a year maybe. Possibly a few at most, but the cat was clearly sick from the lazy look in its barely open eyes. You slowly reached out and brushed your fingers into the cat's once light-colored fur, now stained with the brown of dirt and grime from the streets. The cat simply raised its head ever so sluggishly, strikingly crimson eyes met yours to your surprise. Never in your life had you seen a cat with such a colored pair, especially ones that showed such exhaustion and a hint of pleading. Almost as if the cat was asking 'Please get me out of here.'
Unable to leave the poor animal you quickly adjusted your plastic bag on the crook of your arm and closed the umbrella. You collapsed the object and threw it into the bag as well, not caring if the packaging inside got a little wet since your home was only a few blocks at most now.
"I'm going to pick you up now… please don't bite me." You spoke softly as you offered your hand to the cat who still watched you closely, it's eyes closing slowly as they lowered their head back to the ground with a soft huff. Taking that as a sign the cat would not fight your help, you gave it a few slow pets before sliding your hands underneath and picking the cat up gently. The animal barely awknowledged you as you held it close, wrapping your coat around the poor creature.
Making haste you rounded the corner and hurried for home, taking the stairs two at a time while holding your precious cargo to your chest tightly. Digging the keys from your pocket and shoving them into the lock, it opened with a click then shut with a bang as you closed it with the heel of your rain boot. Dropping the bag of food by the door you rushed into the hall to pull some fresh towels from the top shelf. Wrapping the shivering creature tightly you lay it on the couch after a quick rub down to dry up some of the water clinging to it's dirty fur. Pulling up an emergency vet line on your phone, a few rings and a discussion with a vet later you had your plan of action to help the cat.
You were told if the cat gets any worse to bring it in, but getting the cat warm, some food and clean water should help with fighting off any infection it may currently have from the elements. However a trip to the vet the next morning would definetly be in the books. Bath would have to wait as it could lower or raise the cat's tempature too fast and make the sickness worse. If it makes it though the night, you could give it a nice warm bath.
Giving the animal time to warm in the fluffy towels, you finally put away the food from the store and began digging through some cupboards. With a soft exclamation of happiness, you found what you were looking for. Luckily you still had a few cans of wet food left from before your cat passed away, perfect for sick little fur babies. After confirming the expiration date was still valid, you dumped the contents into a food dish and one with water while thanking everything that you didn't have to go back into the rain.
With slow steps as not to startle the cat you stepped next to the couch to see the ball of fur had finally stopped shaking, a good sign that their temperature was regulating to better heights. You placed the food and water above the bundle where two lone ears peeked out from the towel, the rest of its face hidden away. Though not for long as audible sniffing could be heard, followed by the ears turning into a full head as it appeared interested in the food. A few testing sniffs at the bowl of offerings proved sufficient enough as it began tearing into the food as if the first meal in a long time, which... it most likely was.
You took the opportunity to step away to let the cat eat and not crowd or make them feel uncomfortable. Getting bit was one of the last things you wanted today, or ever. It didn't take long to prepare your meal, by the time you had dropped the first item into the pan the cat had finished scarfing down their food and lapping up every drop of water from the bowls. It was now lazily curled up into a tight ball, eyes closed to get some much-needed rest. You designed that the cat would be taking up the couch for the rest of the evening, deciding to just eat your food and get some sleep yourself. Placing your finished bowl into the sink you checked on the cat one final time, seeing the cat's body rise and fall made you feel soft joy inside. Maybe you didn't feel ready for another cat, but it's what you needed.
Praying the cat made it through the night, you changed into some night clothes for bed and crawled into blankets of your own. Tomorrow would be bath time for kitty, a trip to the vet and pick up some supplies that you didn't already have. You had planned to throw out your previous animal's things when it had gotten too hard after losing them, however you just couldn't bring yourself to actually go through with it in the end.
The next morning your eyes cracked slowly, taking in the sunlight peeking through the curtains. It was no longer raining thank goodness, the dreary weather was getting old. Sitting up in bed the memories of the night before came rushing back to you. Throwing back the blankets you hopped out of the bed, gripped the door handle and took a deep inhale to calm yourself in preparation if the creature did not make it through the night.
Opening the door and stepping into the hall you made your way back into the living room. The couch still held the towels now caked in dried mud, though missing one ball of fur.
"Kitty?" You called out, hoping it didn't hide somewhere and pass on. A couple calls later continued to go unanswered before you huffed, collecting the towels and throwing them into the laundry basket beside the washer in the hallway closet. Begining your search, you lifted the reclining chair beside the couch, peered under the couch with your phone's flashlight and around the kitchen island. No luck in the living area so you moved to check the remaining rooms in the apartment, the bathroom, your room and the spare. No luck in either your room or the bathroom so you moved on to the spare bedroom across from your own.
"Come on Kitty, please just give me a sign you're still with the living!" You groaned before getting down on your knees and peering under the bed, with a yelp you sat back up quickly when a dirty paw had swiped out at your face from under the frame.
Good to know the cat is alive and energetic enough to attack you so early in the morning. Rubbing your cheek that the claws had barely missed you peered back under again, this time giving the cat proper distance.
"Well, hello there Mister grumpy pants, how are you today?" You watched as the cat sat on its haunches, those bright crimson colored eyes narrowed at you showed significantly more life than the previous evening. "Are you hungry?" You asked once again as the cat's tail flicked dangerously as if responding 'I can't talk dumbass.'
You nodded taking that as a yes and picked yourself off the floor. Back in the living room you collected the empty dishes from the couch and filled them with the contents of a new can. Setting the food down you watched as the cat peered around the corner suspiciously, not sure on you just yet. Stepping away from the food you sat down on the couch after making sure not to sit in any ruminants of mud or dirt.
Satisfied, you watched as the cat inspected the food before peering over at you to make sure you were nowhere near before digging into the food once again. The water was given quick work as well before the cat strolled lazily into the living area and taking residence on your reclining chair.
You still had yet to give said kitty a bath and a trip to the vet was needed to make sure the cat was healthy. So unfortunately, you would need to piss off the cat who clearly didn't trust you yet in order to do so. Drawing a bath in the sink you set out all the supplies needed so you could get the cat in and out without hopefully injury to you or the soon to be upset fur ball. Or… more upset than it already was.
After picking up the snoozing feline you played a game of hold on to the bucking cat while trying to scrub all the dirt and grime from it's fur. The cat was surprisingly a very light blonde in color once the dark brown had been scrubbed away, soft tiger stripe markings were visible in places around it's face and tail. On accident and also to the cat's annoyance, you made the discovery it was actually a male cat. Drying the cat off in the towel you had prepared earned you a very nasty glare from the feline.
Making sure he was nice and dry, you stowed your caturrito into a carrier and started your journey to the vet. Low growls and hisses were a constant during the ride to the vet in the car. You spoke to him gently letting him know you were taking him somewhere to make sure he was healthy and then you would take him home so he could go hide all he wanted. Your response was some more growls and the occasional swipe of a paw between the door wire as if he was trying to unlock the cage.
Once you finally arrived at the vet, the receptionist asked for the cat's name to check him in. You told her undetermined since you had just found him, and she nodded letting you know she would also check for a microchip to see if he had a previous owner. The poor nurse earned herself some scratches while coaxing him out of the carrier and the vet didn't fare any better. They ended up giving him a tiny shot to calm his nerves and the rest of the visit went fairly smoother.
The vet announced he had an infection, prescribed some antibiotics and that he would recover quickly with lots of rest, food and clean water now that he's inside. He didn't have a microchip, so the cat was released back to your care and the two of you returned home. The ride back home was much quieter with a half-asleep angry bean instead of a wide-awake angry bean. You placed the kennel by the front door and left the cage open so he could exit whenever he was ready.
He finally exited the kennel while you were busy making lunch, his glare boring into the side of your head. You flashed him a smile before turning back to finish up the food and sitting at the island with your bowl. The cat had hopped onto the counter and was now sitting across the space, his eyes flicking between your food and face. "No Sir." You spoke sternly as his ear twitched with your words, his tail flicking quickly behind him. "You have a full bowl down there."
His eyes followed where you pointed only to return back to the bowl sat before you. His tail flicked back and forth while those carmine eyes shined a hint of mischievous intentions. Seeing the impending danger of your meal, you stood and rounded the counter to pick him up off the surface. He let out a yelp of surprise before thrashing around in your grip with sounds of clear annoyance. You placed him on the floor near his food while he took a swipe at your foot for picking him up unannounced.
Chuckling softly at the spit fire of a cat, you returned to the counter to resume eating. From the corner of your eye, the cat had begun sniffing the food once more before turning its nose to the air and almost stomping away in disgust. You startled just a bit when he hopped up back into his spot across from you, his eyes now flicking to your food once again. With a sigh, you stood to pick up his bowl and slid it before him.
"Here we can eat together!" Flashing him a bright smile while taking your place, his eyes dropping to the bowl at his paws before raising back to you with a 'Are you serious? You expect me to eat this crap?'
Cocking a brow, you began the stare down with the feline while you slowly chewed on a noddle. Without breaking his stoic expression, he shifted a paw forward while flexing around the bowl slowly.
"Don't do it mister!" Shooting him a warning glare, the male began slowly shifting the bowl towards the edge with his paw. "No don't do th-" Before you could snatch the bowl to save it from an untimely demise, the furry terrorist made a sudden jerk of the paw, and the bowl went crashing to the floor.
With a deep exhale you began sweeping up the mess with the perpetrator watching the entire time. You swore he wore a small smirk while his tail continued to flick behind him warningly as to the mischievous glint still shining in his eyes. Standing slowly with dustpan in hand you paused briefly at face level. "You're quite the asshole."
You earned a swipe to the face, his small toe beans connecting with your cheek. He had thankfully kept his claws sheathed, so the little shit had just given you bitch slap essentially.
"Yep, total asshole." Grumbling you thew away the broken pieces of the bowl only to find your meal gone, and a very satisfied cat licking his lips.
A loud groan of frustration left you as you snatched the bowl and placed it in the sink. "I was done anyway!" You stomped away to the couch, collapsing on the cushion with your arms crossed. You flicked on the television while continuing to contemplate your life's decisions of bringing in the little furry butthead.
A mewl earned your attention as you now found the reason for your irritation sitting on the arm rest beside you. Turning your head you huffed, not wanting to reward his behavior with positive attention. Your eyes remained glued to the show you were barely watching as a slight pressure on your thigh startled you. The cat crawled into your lap, curling up with his long fluffy tail wrapping around his face. He peeked one of those beautiful vermillion eyes at you before closing them once again. This little shit knew exactly what he was doing. You exhaled before finally running your fingers over the length of the cat's body. His fur was so fine and extremely soft as you continued to thread your fingers through over and over. He may be an asshole, but he was a cute asshole.
"What should I name you huh?" You mused, watching the little sleepy face while he ignored you.
"Prince?" You wondered aloud, earning a huff from the cat.
"Garfield?" Another huff.
"Princess?" He opened an eye again and hissed as you chuckled.
"Alright, alright I was just joking. Should name you spawn of Satan." The cat bat at your fingers this time with claws and you yanked them away with a hiss. "Definitely spawn."
He settled once more, your fingers now scratching behind his ear. "Well, you are a little explosive shit… Bakugo?" He peeked an eye open once more before closing them and making himself more comfortable. A low rumble filled the room as you realized the feline rolling in your lap was purring!
With a content smile on your face, you began scratching his cheek as the purring only got louder from there.
"Welcome home Bakugo."

the sudden thought of bakugou katsuki sending an audio to his s/o while at the gym, where he speaks IN BETWEEN GASPS AND GRUNTS AND EVEN GROWLS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT HE'S LIFTING WHILE ALSO TALKING ABOUT WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE FOR DINNER AND SUGGESTING MEALS OR PLEACES TO GO IF YOU WANT AND THEN HE SAYS, "Ugh... whatever you... mmh... want, baby, it's yours..." the drummer
pairing: bakugou katsuki x gn!reader
word count: 3k
a/n: this was made due to my newfound infatuation with the band babymetal and their music everyone say thank you babymetal
content: fluff, no quirks au, rock band au, bakusquad (excluding mina, sorry!!) as a band, metal concerts: loud sounds, crowds, mosh pits, etc., swearing, side ships: kamijirou and kirimina, bakugou calls reader “sweetheart” and i think that’s everything
analysis: you attend a metal concert for the first time with your friends. and while you don’t usually listen to rock often, maybe the drummer can change your mind.
———
you like to say you have a wide variety when it comes to your taste in music. music is beautiful, after all—it could bring people from all over the world together, whether they understood the language of the songs or not.
you listen to a bit of everything; a bit of the usual stuff that plays on the radio to pass time in the car, a little bit of pop, some rnb, a hint of rap, a dash of country, etc.
though—the only real exposure you have had to the rock and metal genre was through your current roommate.
but when said roommate nearly screams the roof of your shared apartment off one day, you barrel into her room thinking she had seriously gotten hurt—only to be met with the news of something else.
“jirou kyoka!” you scold her after heaving out a sigh of relief when you find her just sitting on her bed, laptop in her hands. “you scared me half to death! i thought something happened!”
“something did happen,” the short-haired girl retorts giddily as she displays the screen towards you. “one of my favorite bands is having a concert near us!”
and when she thrusts the screen towards you, you catch sight of some somewhat familiar faces—there’s a spiky redhead with a contagious smile on the bass, and a guy with short black hair on the keyboards. there seem to be two blondes, but the difference between them is that the one playing the guitar, who also looks like he’s the singer, has a flirty look on his face while the red-eyed man on the drums has a handsome yet threatening scowl twisted on his lips.
the only reason you’re able to recognize them is because jirou’s has shown you some of their music before. “oh.” your unenthusiastic reaction has her rolling her eyes as she faces her laptop back towards her.
you chuckle a little and sit beside her, making yourself comfy on the mattress. “no, seriously, that’s exciting, jirou!” you declare with a nod, “i’m happy for you! you just screamed really loud.”
she touches her fingers together, still looking away in embarrassment. “ah, right. sorry about that.”
you coo and bring her in for a side hug. the onyx-eyed girl can be a little shy sometimes, and it had taken a while for her to open up to you despite living together. “no, no- it’s okay! y’know i don’t listen to a lot of that kinda stuff but.. when’s the concert? did you buy tickets yet?”
when jirou visibly brightens up, you grin to yourself. she’s so passionate about music sometimes; it’s endearing to see. “concert’s in a couple of weeks. and no, haven’t bought tickets yet.”
you blink and laugh. “well, why haven’t you? you should before they get all sold out, right?”
as if you had reminded her, she yelps and her fingers start tapping away on the keyboard. “ah, you’re right. they can sell out pretty fast.”
you eye the screen once again, tracing your stare over the band members out of curiosity as she gets ready to buy said tickets. really, you have no idea where you’re going with this but— “how about i come with you?”
her fingers freeze and she stares at you in surprise. “really? are you sure?” she questions, tilting her head. “like you just said, you don’t really listen to this kind of music.”
you shrug. “well, it’ll be a new experience for me. you only live once, right?” and then you quickly add, “and i can help you pay too!”
kyoka genuinely seems thrilled by your decision, but her fingers still hover over the mousepad. “are you sure?”
before you can change your mind, you insist with a laugh. “jirou, i’m positive.” you fish out your phone from your pocket to go over a calendar. “we’re both free that day, i can help pay for the tickets, and you won’t have to be alone during the concert—so it’ll be safer for you, yeah?”
jirou starts twiddling with her fingers again. “i was actually gonna invite mina with me. she doesn’t listen to them as much as i do but she’s got a thing for the bassist.” she rolls her eyes with a fond scoff.
you glare at her playfully. “hey, i barely listen to them but don’t you got a thing for the blonde guitarist?” you tease.
when you see her blush and start to deny you, you laugh. “relax, jirou, i’m teasing. and we can still invite mina. i’m sure she’d love to go with us.”
jirou nods, smiling. “alright. it’ll be the three of us then.”
she clicks and confirms the purchase, sealing yourself a metal concert in a couple weeks.
except.. it doesn’t turn out to be the three of you. trust me, mina had been overjoyed to receive the news that the two of you had gotten her tickets. in fact, she had been so delighted that she had invited some of her other friends, and then their friends were invited, and- yeah. (you’re not too entirely sure how everyone managed to get tickets in time but you deduce not to question it.)
it’s the night of the concert, and after a thirty minute drive, you finally arrive at the designated arena. (jirou and mina had played some of the band’s music to familiarize you with some songs—there were a few catchy ones.)
the rest of your party had come in separate rides, so as the three of you exit mina’s car, they wave you down in excitement.
“it’s loud,” you state bluntly as your friends start their way to the arena entrance. you’re not even in the damn arena and it’s loud—the concert hasn’t even started yet.
“it’s only gonna get louder, babe,” mina says with a good-natured grin. “too late to turn back now!”
“i know, i know!” you laugh, trying to relax your nerves. you’re a bit nervous, sure—but you can’t deny that you’re also a little excited. “i’m not backing out, don’t worry.”
jirou tugs at your arm from her spot beside you. “if anything, you can leave early. wait for us in the car. metal concerts can get.. intense sometimes. i won’t be offended or anything.”
you shoot your roommate a relieved smile. “i’ll keep that in mind, thanks. but hopefully it doesn’t come to that. this’ll be fun!”
your optimism remains even as you file into the arena, looking for a spot. part of your group wants to score a place in the potential mosh pit, but with jirou and mina knowing it’s your first time, some decide to linger somewhere on the side. with this, your group decides to split up.
“don’t you guys wanna head into the- mosh pit?” you ask the two girls, feeling a bit guilty. “isn’t that closer to the stage? i feel really bad holding you guys back.”
mina waves a hand at you in dismissal. “no, don’t worry about it! i want a spot closer to the bar. and while being the mosh pit is fun, i’d rather not get ‘accidentally’ groped tonight.”
you blink at her and simply nod in acknowledgment. “ah, right, okay.” jirou nods alongside you.
the three of you grab some drinks and chat around while the arena continues to fill up. you had been eyeing the rest of your group making camp on the floor until you lose them once more people flood in.
the opening act starts and it’s another rock band. definitely a lesser known group, but their music is a good mood starter for the concert, it seems.
another thirty minutes pass by and it’s finally time for the main act of the band everyone’s been waiting for to make an appearance.
there’s the sound of the music starting and it’s as if it shakes the entire building—the crowd roars in anticipation.
a rough voice echoes throughout the arena and then the beat of drums pulses through the floor.
“LET’S FUCKING GOOO!”
and just like that, fireworks burst from the stage and the lights are on, focused on the band and you can spot the four members playing their respective instruments.
before you know it, you see jirou and mina jumping with the rest of the crowd, screaming their throats alongside the singer as he strums the strings of his guitar.
you find yourself enjoying yourself too! it’s amazing to see them play the first few songs back to back with no break—they’re quite the entertainment.
after the third or fourth song though, they seem to take a breather. “hello everyone!” the lead guitarist speaks into his mic. “you all having fun so far?”
the crowd answers with cheers and you can’t help but laugh as your two companions join them.
“i’m kaminari denki!” the singer introduces himself. jirou lets out a few cheers as the blonde lifts a hand up to his ear as if to bask in the crowd’s noise. and then he continues on to the other members. “our bassist, kirishima eijirou!”
“hey, everyone!” the redhead plays a few notes on the bass as the crowd cheers again—you and jirou share an amused look when mina squeals at the top of her lungs.
“on the keys, hanta serooo!” kaminari whoops out, and the fans join in again in another roar. the short-haired man plays for a bit, laughing a greeting, “good evening!”
“aaaand on the drums…” kaminari finishes up, imitating playing the drums with his hands with a grin, “our amazing kacchan!”
“it’s bakugou katsuki, dunce face!” the drummer snaps, his voice booming on the mic—and you recognize his voice from the beginning of the concert. there’s a few snickers and laughs from the crowd—you included—and bakugou plays for a few seconds.
displayed on the large screens behind and next to the stage, you can see the drummer’s features a bit despite the somewhat darkened lighting. “alright, fuckers!” he yells out once he’s done, “you ready for more?”
this time, you find yourself screaming alongside your two friends in eagerness and the concert continues as they play some more songs. during the short intermission, you head out for a quick bathroom break. when you return, you see jirou is the only one left in your previous spot.
“mina went into the mosh pit!” jirou explains as one song transitions into another. she points over to the rushing crowd and you look to the sea of people jamming out more aggressively, a few crowd-surfers here and there.
“oh, okay!” you answer back. you go back to jamming with your friend, genuinely enjoying yourself. (any time you see the drummer on the screen for a few seconds, you can’t find it in yourself to look away.)
and the night rages on. there some people headbanging so hard to the point where you were sure they were going to fling their heart out of their throats, but all in all, you were having fun.
it’s nearing the encore when you decide the pounding and rumbling of the arena is starting to become a bit much. “hey, jirou!” you shout over the music, “i’m gonna head back to the car!”
kyoka looks to you with slight concern. “want me to walk back with you?” she offers in a raised voice to match yours. her eyes flicker from the stage to you.
“no, no!” you’re quick to protest and decline, “enjoy the end of the concert- i know you don’t wanna miss it! i’ll be fine on my own, don’t worry!”
hesitantly, she gives you a thumbs up. you give her a quick hug before you start trudging away from her and through the rows and rows of people.
music continues to blast through the arena, and you’re sure that your ears are going to be ringing for the remainder of the night. but you suppose that’s what happens when you attend a metal concert out of all things. (it had been fun, for the most part, but you think that’s enough metal for one night.)
the blinding lights from the stage are flashing everywhere, probably more intense since it’s almost the end of the concert. it’s a bit difficult to see your surroundings very clearly for anything longer than five seconds, but you manage to stumble out of your section of the crowd on your own two feet, save for a few bumps into some people here and there.
you don’t know where the rest of your group is—though, you’re sure they’re probably getting trampled over in the mosh pit running circles in a certain area of the floor space in the peripheral of your eye. (yeah, there’s no way you’re taking place in that. hopefully mina’s alright!)
you continue following the signs that supposedly lead to the exit. getting out early can give you a head start and avoid any more crowds that would definitely get messier on the way out.
you follow down the railing and that’s when the arena darkens suddenly. they must be getting ready for the finale—so you whip your phone out to act as your flashlight to keep walking.
wait a minute. there’s only few people back here, so that must mean you’re heading in the right direction, but then—hold on. you’re backstage.
the security isn’t at its best, it seems. or maybe they’re slacking. who knows—either way, you’re not where you’re supposed to be, that’s for certain. you can see the back of the stage set up from here; there’s a few uniformed people working on what seems to be the lighting and shit. oh yeah—definitely not the exit.
maybe you can ask for directions? oh, how embarrassing… maybe you should’ve stayed with jirou until the end of the concert and walked back with her.
just- just follow the sound of yelling and screaming! obviously—that’s where the crowd is, so you can easily find the actual way out by listening to the roar of the fans.
and then they get louder and—the sound of the last of the commercial fireworks sizzles through the air and the closing music comes to an end. oh shit. the concert has ended.
that seals it for you: you’re going to head over to some staff person and—oh yeah, that one right there, standing near the small stairs, and ask politely for the actual exit.
and then the lights go out again—plunging you in darkness, save for the few lights from above and flickering from the side, and then you walk right into a solid chest.
“the hell?” a gruff voice erupts from in front of you, and it sounds familiar. the lights return and it takes you less than three seconds to register that you’re staring up at the drummer.
“fuckin’- goddammit, kiri!” the blonde scowls, turning his red glare to the guitarist coming down the stage stairs, “some fan got into the back again!”
kirishima is wiping the sweat off his brow when he catches sight of you, and he seems surprised. “huh? oh shit-”
you panic. what if you get into some serious trouble for this? what if they sue you? so you splutter out frantically without thinking, “i’m- i’m not a fan!”
bakugou brings his gaze back to you at your words, all confused, judging by the way he raises a brow at you. and when his stare lingers, you realize he’s actually taking the time to look at you.
he clicks his tongue and repeats your words. “not a fan, huh?”
fuck, that sounds rude, doesn’t it? “no! i mean- yes! i mean—i’ve never really listened to your guys’ music but i came along with my friends! but then i decided to leave a little early and just ended up getting lost and-”
the redhead comes to stand next to bakugou with a laugh. “relax, relax. we hear ya,” he reassures you with a toothy grin. “mistakes happen!”
you let out a sigh of relief, smiling gratefully at kirishima. “right. i didn’t think wandering backstage could happen but.. sounds like it has before?” you laugh, referring to bakugou’s previous words as you look to the drummer.
oh god. the tank top hangs loosely off bakugou’s broad shoulders as his skin glistens with sweat. you can now see his legs that are clad in black ripped jeans, not hidden behind the drum set. a screen, no matter how huge, doesn’t do him justice. he’s so damn beautiful up close.
what makes matters even worse is that he’s staring right at you.
you nearly let out a squeak of surprise from the sheer intensity of his gaze, instead glancing back to kirishima nervously since he continues talking anyway.
“ah yeah, sometimes,” the guitarist chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. “not too often but- it definitely happens way more than it should. you’re okay though, really!”
you nod with a small smile, fiddling with your hands. you sneak a look back at the drummer, and you realize with a start that he hasn’t torn his eyes off you.
“not a fan?” bakugou repeats again in a drawl, cocking his head to the side and taking a step towards you.
you blink at him, a little confused, a little flustered. “um, well-”
“alright, sweetheart,” bakugou then huffs, catching you by surprise—are you hearing him right? but then the smirk he gives you makes you wanna melt into the floor. “let’s see if i can make you a fan before the next concert, yeah?”
———
the roar of the crowd is something you welcome, relishing in the noise the eager fans make as they wait for the concert to start. you don’t have a good view backstage, but there’s something you need to do first before you head to your reserved section.
sero and denki are the first to head up. the blonde adjusts his guitar and dashes out onto the stage, blowing jirou a flying kiss to which she rolls her eyes at but catches nonetheless.
kirishima strolls after the two of his band mates onto the stage, but not before he gives mina a squeezing hug paired with some laughter.
bakugou is the last one to walk up, and he approaches you with that same damned smirk of his that had made you give him your number not too long ago.
“i’m waiting, sweetheart,” katsuki snickers at you, raising a brow expectantly.
you glare at him playfully, and before he can sneak in another word, you grab the front of his stupid tank top and pull him down for a kiss.
(yeah, he had made you a fan.)

Picnic
Carer!Bakugou x Little!Reader
- Bakugou planned a surprise picnic for you while you were in little space. He lead you towards a hidden spot in the park beneath a shady tree, your bodies kept cool in it’s shadow away from the sun.
- As you two sat together you started to relax and in turn you began babbling while Bakugou pretended to understand you, although you secretly think he truly does understand your babbles
- You watched the sunset with him as you snuggled into his side while he held you in his lap. He gave you a bottle and rubbed your back soothingly while you drank. Bakugou held it to your lips while holding you even closer to him.
- You were content in his lap as he soothed you. Enjoying his presence as he cared for you even if it was just like a normal date for the two of you.
- The Cutest Cub
I really didn’t know how to end this or how to continue it so I’ll leave it there and maybe come back to edit it later <3

Spirits were high after the picnic. Word had slipped from Eijiro to one of his sisters and the whole household was in an uproar of pleasantries when you returned home.
“I’m so excited for your wedding, Y/n! I think I should like to be the flower girl very much!” The youngest Kirishima held her little wooden pony to her chest dreamily, dancing all around the hope chest. You chuckled at her antics, continuing your embroidery, swaying gently in the wooden rocking chair.
Mrs. Kirishima asked for some of her own embroidered towels and you quickly agreed, perhaps to pay the Kirishimas back in any way possible. The stack of finished towels was cut short as you handed the old woman her new cloth pile. “Thank you, my dear. Having you in our home has been such a blessing.” Her hand was warm and her smile warmer.
“Thank you. You have no idea what a blessing being here has been. I appreciate all you’ve done for me.” You placed your hand on hers with a pleasant smile.
Thumping in the next room drew your attention away from your wonderful aunt. Eijiro walked to the threshold of the room in his full armor with sweat dripping down his brow. “You need to come with me.” His eyes were cold and his voice, firm.
You stood suddenly, your skirts wrapping around your legs with every quick step. “What’s going on?” Panic filled your veins and your eyes danced over all the Kirishima girls huddled around the table with worried expressions and hurried whispers filling the air.
“I’ll tell you on the way,” your cousin—always a gentleman—opened the door to let you through.
The cool of the day before had passed and the air was wiggling in the heat, and dust blew through the streets. You understood why Eijiro was sweating so much when he entered in a hurry.
You were glad you had worn a short sleeved top. But having pants and a skirt, you were burning up. “So what’s going on??” You were almost running, trying to keep up with Ei’s fast pace.
“Bakugou’s been badly injured and King Deku asked for you. I don’t exactly know why the king wants you there but I was going to fetch you anyway when Katsuki got hurt.” His gaze stayed straight ahead. So you did the same.
The castle’s guard entrance was quickly growing as you got closer. The large black oak doors creaked open after a few shouts were exchanged between Eijiro and the guard on duty in the tower above you.
The medic tent was closer to the center of the guards’ courtyard. Eijiro held open the tents flap for you as you stepped inside.
Cots lined the walls, small bedside tables no larger then a foot wide were placed between each bed. Only two young nurses walked between the cots.
Katsuki was the farthest from the entrance, his expression pained as a short man chatted enthusiastically to him, the chair he was on creaking with every movement of his flailing arms.
You squeezed past the two nurses easily, Eijiro had a harder time with his armor taking up a lot of space. It also didn’t help that one of the nurses was making eyes at your cousin which caused him to falter briefly.
Katsuki looked up at you when you got closer. You couldn’t read his expression but you assumed it was annoyance with a hint of gratitude due to your appearance shutting up the green haired man.
Eijiro appeared next to you and bowed, nudging your elbow to do the same. You curtsied politely, not knowing who the smaller man was.
“You must be Kachan’s fiancé!!” The man’s face lit up as he took your hand and kissed you knuckles out of courtesy. “I haven’t heard much about you from him, but Kirishima certainly has some nice things to say about his favorite cousin!”
You smiled politely, folding your hands in front of you, glad you had wiped your face with your handkerchief before you entered the medical tent. “I just so happen to be his only cousin.” You chuckle and tilt your head.
“I do apologize,” the man bowed lowly, “I am King Izuku Midoriya. You may call me Midoriya, or Deku if you’d like!” He smiled brightly.
“It’s very nice to meet you, sir.” You curtsied again and bowed your head. You told him you name in a gentle tone, but your eyes were on Katsuki. His gaze was focused on you. His eyebrow raising he lifted his arm and gave a slight wave.
King Midoriya talked for quite awhile while you tried not to giggle watching your fiancé mock his words, mouthing everything the king said, perfectly lip syncing every word.
“—and then I realized I had never actually met you, so I asked Sir Kirishima to kindly fetch you. While it’s not favorable that he was hurt, I’m glad I remembered to ask for you because of it—“ the poor man just didn’t know when to shut his mouth.
“Deku. You’re boring her. You met her—good for you—now get out so I can talk to my fiancé in peace.” Bakugou groaned as he shoved off the thin sheet covering his thighs.
Izuku looked surprised, his eyebrows nearly touching his hairline. “Oh!! Of course! I am so sorry! I was so caught up in telling my story I completely missed the fact that you were tryin—“
“Shut up! Get out!” Katsuki closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose like he had a migraine.
“Right!” He turned and walked out with Eijiro.
You took King Deku’s seat cautiously watching Katsuki sigh roughly and sit up.
“That was pretty harsh.” You leaned back.
“Yeah well, the guy doesn’t know when he’s being too much.” He smirked slightly and twiddled with the sheet.
“So how badly were you hurt?” You tried to act unconcerned.
“I actually got a taste of my own medicine,” he chuckled, “remember when I kicked you in the ribs?”
You winced at the memory.
“Well I was gifted something very similar,” he gently peeled up his shirt to reveal a very blood soaked bandage over his chest. “Mina finally bested me.” His light laugh didn’t hold much humor in it. “She got me good right on the chest.”
“Does it still hurt?” You couldn’t hide your concern you had been trying to conceal the whole conversation.
“Oh yeah, but I’m sure I’ll heal up in a couple of days.”
You nodded slowly and twisted your fist into the fabric of your skirt.
“Did you enjoy the picnic?” He asked sheepishly.
“Yes. It was very pleasant. I appreciate your efforts to make this marriage as smooth as possible, Bakugou.” In the back of your mind you growled at yourself for using his last name. You knew you were just trying to distance yourself from your feelings. But you couldn’t become attached to this brut.
Katsuki’s smile dropped. “Yes. That was the purpose.” He looked at the canvas wall across the room.
“You should be cleared to leave for home, Sir Bakugou.” An old woman stepped close to the bed and placed and aged, shaking hand on your shoulder. “Stay out of trouble for a couple weeks. No training while you’re healing. Understand?” She asked firmly.
“Yeah, yeah. I know the drill—“
“Katsuki.”
“I—“ he sighed. “Yes, ma’am.” He nodded and dropped his hand he had raised while waving off her warnings.
You smiled at his quick defeat, and helped him stand to his feet.
“I don’t want to see you back her for at least two weeks, Sir Bakugou.” The firm statement was waved off by the blonde who let himself use you as a crutch.
