3 will be free - Like I’ve found with all Jojo’s stuff this is a superb concept that feels somewhat too big for what it had to be constrained too. Which means it gets a little lost in the finer details. The big picture however? Sublime. The performances pulled out of the whole cast are top tier and the commentary on poverty, feminism and trans politics are superbly weaved through. 4/5 (28/5/24)

Living with him - A soft, cosy little delight of a thing. Kazuhito and Ryota’s journey to love is a slow, gentle one with very little dramatics just a lot of not using their words. Very sweet little watch. 3 ½ /5 (30/5/24)

We Are - Honestly I was excited for this one right out the gate. I loved all the pairings and I know what great work P'New can do with a solid ensemble cast. I told sunset about you -This just wasn’t for me. If we were going on acting alone then it would be a five but we’re not so it’s a three. I don’t like melodrama for all the reasons that make this some people’s favourite. Silly twists and overlong shots of snotty crying faces are just not my thing. 3/5 (20/7/24)

Wandee Goodday - I loved elements of this and other stuff got a little lost. Its bones were good but it started threads it didn’t tie and some things were frustrating. Overall though I had a great time watching this and I thought the things this show did well, particularly found family and LGBTQIA+ issues, it did very very well. 3 ½/5 (20/7/24)

The man who defies the world of BL (s3) - The main issues I had with this were the same ones I had for first two seasons. Too short and ending on cliff hangers in infuriating. This is still firmly a ‘it’s for you or it’s not’ show and it really is for me. 4/5 (23/7/24)

The Boyfriend - Japan’s first gay dating show. This was incredibly lovely and very cute. The edit was a lot and would have liked to have seen more of their day to day in the house. But I did have fun with this and, as with most reality shows, there was a lot of fun in picking it apart with friends. 3/5 (30/7/24)

The Boy Foretold by The Stars - This is a Filipino movie. Filipino stuff often hits for me and this hit. It’s sweet and romantic and, as I often find with Fillo stuff, it manages to blend religion and being young and gay in an interesting way. Definitely a good pick if you want something sweet. 4/5 (6/9/24)

Knock Knock, Boys! - I think the trailer for this made it seem like it was going to be a sex fest and it’s really not that. It’s just a really nice friends to lovers. This was also really trying new things with the way it talked openly about sex. Super enjoyable and I fell in love with the whole cast. 4/5 (8/9/24)

Love Sea - FortPeat are lovely because they always are. The writing stinks and there’s barely a ghost of a story. You like MAME or you don’t and I’m a hater. The first three episodes are good enough but it loses what little plot it had after that. 2 ½/5 (12/9/24)

besties im so sorry but i am so tired of wlw storylines that include cheating (it was emotional cheating to me even if they only almost kissed). i liked how the big red/ashlyn break up went (supportive bi exes, yes pls!) but i just wish it happened sooner :<

Rina is obv amazing and their build up is SO beautiful. I came in knowing that they were going to be a thing eventually but I did think that it was just because of Olivia's departure. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that their romantic timeline started as early as season 1

I very much enjoy anime & manga. I got infected with those brain worms back in high school, & they simply will not leave. Particularly into Sailor Moon, which I haven't stopped thinking about since 1999, (I have OCs for that & a fic I'm gonna one day sit down & plot out beyond This Is The Vibe. I have a few things floating around in my brain, but I just haven't made the time to do anything with it. Maybe since I'm at reception for 6 hours I'll do that 🤷🏻‍♀️) & JoJo's (I also have OCs for this one, but no fic. I do have a homebrewed ttrpg system to run a JoJo's campaign with, though. But I need to finish statting enemy Stand Users & some character design. Also it's not a priority because I have an asoiaf campaign trilogy to finish running). I don't read or watch anything with the quickness, so I haven't watched a ton of newer anime or made that much of a dent in my reading of Berserk, but I do enjoy both newer stuff and Berserk. I even have a couple figures from Demon Slayer, which is probably my favorite newer series? It feels very nostalgic to the series I grew up watching.

I was into the Netflix Witcher series, but I haven't been able to bring myself to finish season 3. No amount of Joey Batey tits or confirmed pansexual Jaskier can really build my hype back up when I've heard the last bit of s3 sucked & I know I probably won't watch season 4. I have collected all but the last book of short stories though, so once I've worked through more of my books I need to give a fair shake before donating I plan to start those & get into The Witcher proper.

The Elder Scrolls is very good & fun, & I know the plots of all the mainline games even though I've only ever actually played Skyrim to completion. I have...I have so many OCs for that. And a fic I'm slowly working on that tells the story of the Dawnguard DLC by way of Lapsed Viglant Of Stendarr & Werewolf Vampire Hunter Are Forcibly Adopted As Serana's New Parents (and also I am confirming Serana as, like, eternally 19 because she feels very teenagery/early 20s-y to me). Fun fact: two of my current very close friends (my Platonic Wife included) were made by way of TES (and then another friend was introduced to me by a TES friend). So, thanks for your service, Todd Howard. Y'know, I guess.

It feels very "What are your hobbies? / Magnets." to say, but, like, dolls in general. I've collected porcelain dolls since I was little (but that collection got pared down massively when I moved from Texas), & I'm currently working through a clean/restore/dress/display of my old Bratz dolls. I've also dropped real adult money on dolls to (out of box, bc it sparks joy) display in my apartment. Specifically the Sasha (my best girl) Rock Angelz repro I waited almost a full year to see drop, Heather Greyson from Shadow High, & The Pride Bratz (I had a giftcard). I need to finish cleaning my old Bratz before I drop money on more though. So I know my shelving situation, lmao.

I am not not into Dragon Age, but I also complain about it all the time. I refuse to engage with it in a multimedia way. What I cannot learn by playing the games/have told to me in those games is simply not for me to know. Just...the way the franchise is handled & how it feels very obvious that Bioware wants to tell an incredibly specific story (while still allowing for character creation?), all the lore decisions they're making that feel like retcons/throw away everything I got invested in early (hello the dwarves & the dalish & Alistair's everything), & the increasing non-optional nature of the comics & books...it brings my blood to boil. The games are fun though! I have fun playing the games! And my personal Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor trios can be pried from my cold, dead hands!

I'm gonna be real, I know much more about Th Old World Of Darkness than Vampie v5, but I am into Vampire The Masquerade. This is, again, a "I have learned everything in bursts of hyperfixation that last a varying length of time," but I would very much like to take one of my two special vampire boys out for a spin one day. Because they're there! They exist & they are appropriately melodramatic, & I love them. Evil, fucked up, Hecata thug & flouncy, Catholic For The Aesthetic Toreador music producer my beloveds 💕

Also, I recently watched the movie Nimona and got familiar with both the movie and comic. I see a LOT of Nimona in Lord Dominator so I want to channel some of that.

Stevenson had definitely put pieces of Nimona's personality into LD, you can see this in the comic version Nimona especially. Never needing help, refusing help, claiming to never being able to change and she's killed people and 'that is who she is', hiding in the form of a human as opposed to hiding in the form of a monster--an unexpected twist. Having two halves, a monster, and a girl. The connections LD's design has with Mojo jojo is also notable when compared to comic Nimona's possible origins-- pink eyes green skin and pointed ears, a lab experiment. Nimona's movie character in her spunkiness also reads as Lord Dominator's quirkiness, so I think I will use that as inspo for more of Lord Dominator's personality in the Dominion au. As for her story, Lord Dominator is a bully, but s3 was going to tackle topics about forcing people to be something they aren't--how forcing a bad guy to be good isn't actually helping, a person has to choose to be good to actually be good. I think Dominator would have some kind of CWO effect but also the concept of LD being forced to be out of suit. Without her powers, without her ability to express and play. Lord Dominator's play is APART of her, just as much as play is a part of Wander, and I think that intrinsic similarity can lead to Lord Dominator at the end of the AU acting as a galaxy wide protector against outside threats like the enforcement force lol, a theatrical force of nature, scary big sis of the galaxy. Meanwhile in the au, Lord Hater would become the galaxy's new rock n roller hero, with Peepers at his side. I think Peepers and Lord Dominator in the Dominion au would almost have a reversed Nimona and Blackheart dynamic, "you got it boss!" is too adorable to pass up for Peepers lol. And it also fits with Peepers being bitter about Hater...... comic Nimona vibes r real.

I was talking to my sister (probably weeks ago) about anime and I realized I always set out to watch the ones everyone loves recently cause DUH but I literally never do. IDC about Naruto, Spy x Family, Kaguya-sama, Komi, Jojo's, JJK, BNHA, AoT, ETC. Only mentioning cause they're the shows with the most fans as of recently. Uhhh I watched a few eps of Tokyo Ghoul, same w/ Soul Eater and Death Note and Noragami (this one I do wanna watch eventually) and BSD. I can't think of any popular others that I haven't watched.

The ones I have watched: OPM (te amo Saitama. remember nothing tho), Haikyuu!! (up to 3rd season maybe, I forgor but I want to remember 💔), KnY (was OK), Wonder Egg Priority (don't remember the end), Yuru Camp (love SoL), HxH (both 1999 AND 2011 in their entireties), Horimiya (NEED to watch S2), Eizouken (silly), Hanako-kun (remember none of it), Kakegurui (both seasons, I watched w/ my sister), MP100 (S1 & 2, probably rewatch b4 S3), CSM (funny. Denji te quiero), Erased (it was good IDC), Kill la Kill (2015 Dante was built different), Yuri on Ice (vamos maricones), Ososan (funny), Owari no Seraph (Yoichi te quiero), Mirai Nikki (it was fun IDC).

LIKE I have watched my fair share of "popular" anime but out of that list I liked ummm lemme count. 7/18. enough to remember anything about them. It's pretty hit & miss to the point I don't even know what to watch anymore 😭 it's been so long since I last finished an anime. SAD.

currently reading: i have been veeeeery slowly plodding through all the sherlock holmes stories via audiobook as i drift off to sleep. so far i’ve gotten through a study in scarlet, the sign of the four and the adventures of sherlock holmes, and now i’m on the memoirs of sherlock holmes. the narrator is really great and they’re wonderful books to fall asleep to, lol.

last movie: oh man i’ve been watching a lot of disney movies while i do chores and stuff just because i’ve seen most of them so many times i don’t really have to fully watch them to enjoy them, you know? the last one i watched was sleeping beauty, i’m pretty sure, which is just so pretty, god. beautiful movie.

currently watching: i’m on s4 of jojo’s bizarre adventure, lmao. i was gonna take a break after i finished s3 to finally watch demon slayer s2, since jojo’s seasons are pretty self-contained, but then i decided i was gonna binge demon slayer s2 on my 8-hour train ride tomorrow and finish whatever i have left on my 8 hour train ride back on monday, and honestly i’ve been too tired after work/errands lately to start anything new, haha. so the soothing absurdity of jojo’s it is. (also let’s face it as far as anime goes it’s not one i feel like i have to be glued to the screen at all times for, which is also really nice for relaxing after work.)

stardust crusader is such a classic! i used to read a lot and never watch anything lol. but now updates are so slow i actually only catch up on chapters during end of year holidays (its a ritual atp)

I STILL NEED TO FINISH JJK, im like... 8 eps in season 1... so much more material to catch up on...

The Stardust Crusader arc in jojo’s is what solidified it as a show of interest for me. I had the hardest time going through S1 and then it picked up at S2 but the second I got into S3 I was all over the place with emotions. Like I was here yelling at my screen at the edge of my seat just rooting for Jotaro and he’s still my favorite JoJo member with his daughter Jolyne right after. I have to rewatch until S4 and catch up again I just have a terrible attention span.

But yes, I have to rewatch JJK entirely including the movie and catch up on S2 but I’m scared of what’s about to happen soon in the show so I’m pretending it doesn’t exist LMAO.

yeah (same anon) i would spend so much time doing stats, strategies and predictions on everything. I would have like 3 povs up while live, I would know every mcc almost all the teams and know who would do well where, scrolling through the mcc reddit everyday but i just have no passion for it at all now.

im kinda hoping the break will either make me very either excited or not care at all about it at all so i may see after it :( it just stopped feeling fun and instead more frustrating and less unique - fewer interesting new teams, games got a bit old, too much drama

and personally, for someone who loves the competitive side a lot more, it felt like there was much less competitive passion for it - everyone playing for fun (absolutely fine, just not for me!)

yeah i miss the competitive part of it tbh like there are certainly still people who do practice streams but i miss when everyone was on the practice server every day for the two weeks leading up to the event. it made for a lot of enjoyable content and introduced me to a bunch of creators that i ended up watching more of. like it got me into a bunch of hermits, jojo, cpk, mefs back when he was active, and surely more people that i’m forgetting. and i’m sure the teams are still exciting for some people but they’re not so exciting for me when the handful of creators that i’m most excited for aren’t in it. it’s a damn shame that hannah finally got into the event right around when the ppl i mostly watched are making their exit. i guess s3 is far enough away where maybe george, sap, quackity, and karl will come back for all we know.

i think with the new season i’ll be able to go either way too on whether or not im invested. i think if any of those four are in it i’ll probably get super into it again and if they’re not i’ll probably let it go. the break is probably good for everyone tbh. i think it lost a lot of it’s competitive energy because the people who were competitive got burnt out. i feel like ant and punz are both typically super competitive when it comes to mcc and they’ve both seemed kind of tired. i like mcc for the fun of it and the competitive side tbh but i think the excitement has kind of dwindled in general. i think a break to revamp their games and rebuild hype will be good for it.

Ive read the jujutsu kaisen and sxf manga, but I’m not completely caught up. I really suck at keep up with ongoing stuff, reading included 😭 you should definitely check out mdzs & jjba when you have the time. They’re definitely worth it 😌

I tend to watch anime for the characters 🤭 my beloved is wei wuxian from mdzs. his story is some of the most tragic I’ve seen and the angst was just SO GOOD. I also like Caesar from jjba, Gojo from jjk, and the main cast of sxf.

Unfortunately I lose interests waaaaay too quickly to follow a broadcast schedule 😭 the last time I did that was during the broadcast of mdzs s3 last year??
