The Jewish lesbians sharing sugared dates in a Tupperware bowl in the back of the minyan is a nonexistent romance cliche I never knew I needed.

If I had a nickel for every time someone here said my existence as a bisexual Jewish Israeli is “pink washing “….
Our experiences and mere existence aren’t wrong or distracting.
One thing that especially bothers me about the Chicago D*ke March is the implication that LGBT Jews merely existing is inherently pinkwashing. It politicizes LGBT Jewish identities by stating that all LGBT Jews exist to distract people from the Israel/Palestine conflict. And that is entirely antisemitic and a gross misrepresentation of LGBT Jews.

Being an ally isn't just "I don't hate this marginalised group", thats neutrality
Being an ally means supporting and helping those marginalised groups when facing bigotry, and yeah, that support and help means that occasionally, you have to give up some things, be it a game, a online creator, a musician, etc.
If you can't do the bare minimum of showing support, you're not an ally. You never were

We need to stop talking about how conservatives don't want their kids to know LGBTQ people exist. They do want their kids to know we exist, but we will suffer for it.
They don't want their kids to know that it is okay and acceptable to be LGBTQ, that society will allow them to exist in peace and happiness. That at times LGBTQ people will be accepted.
They want their kids to know that LGBTQ is not okay or acceptable. That if they are LGBTQ they will be persecuted, marginalized, beaten, and scorned. That if they are they will have a terrible life, so they better g-ddamn be the good little cishet Christian soldier that Mommy and Daddy wanted.
They aren't actually scared that a couple rainbow displays will turn their kids gay or an affirming book will forcibly transition them. They're scared that their already LGBTQ kid will know that them being themselves is a just as valid life and not a one way ticket to misery and then hell.
They want to not just eradicate LGBTQ from existence, they want to have everyone else watch us suffer as a warning to stay in line.
Or maybe that's just LGBTQ survivor of an entire childhood and adolescence under an extreme abusive homophobe of a parent in me, idk why listen to me on this stuff.

Father in heaven, who did miracles for our ancestors with fire and water, You changed the fire of Chaldees so it would not burn hot, You changed Dina in the womb of her mother to a girl, You changed the staff to a snake before a million eyes, You changed [Moses’] hand to [leprous] white and the sea to dry land. In the desert you turned rock to water, hard flint to a fountain. Who would then turn me from a man to woman? Were I only to have merited this, being so graced by your goodness.
-Qalonymos ben Qalonymos, Even Bochan, c.1322, translation from Wrestling With God & Men: Homosexuality in the Jewish Tradition by Rabbi Steven Greenberg, p.118-120
In late 1322 or early 1323, French Jewish poet Qalonymos ben Qalonymos completed their book Even Bochan, which features this passage, describing the author's discontent with living as a man, and desire to live as a woman.
You can read a longer version of the passage here, and listen to our podcast on Qalonymos and their place in trans Jewish history here

Please help us leave Arizona
My partner and I are really struggling right now. Things are getting very scary here, there are many trump supporters in our area and we are also being physically harassed by transphobic anti-choice people when we try to visit our local clinic where we get our HRT and bloodwork. We are losing access to our medical care and our apartment has become unsafe to live in due to trump supporters, and the recent election has just made everything much worse here.
We need to break our lease and leave the state. We are planning to return to New Mexico, where I was raised, because I know it will be safer there for us.
Please share or donate if you can, we would really appreciate it a lot.
Thank you to anyone who reads this, and major thanks to anyone who can help in any way.

I just got off the phone with my Dad, a Jewish lifelong Democrat who loathes trump, and who has witnessed a lot of history. He gave me some much needed perspective.
Trump is a grotesque embarrassment, but compared with what our parents and grandparents saw in U.S. politics....that's more or less it.
Many of the GOP's current policies are repugnant, but are also already being overturned in spite of their perceived victories. Missouri of all places overturned its abortion ban just last night.
Social media sites like this one do not reflect an accurate picture of what the general public really thinks, as they attract the most fringe types. Dad suggested paying more attention to sites like the Washington Post, where comments tend to come from more normal people.
The Midterm elections are in only two years. If the Gross Odorous Poopsicles can overturn Roe v. Wayde under a Democrat president, we can certainly do plenty under a deflated 82-year-old pumpkin who many Republicans don't even like.
