apollo and roscoe used to be best buds. they got along with each other the best out of all our cats and would spend a lot of time cuddling with each other. after roscoe passed, apollo and lily started hanging out with each other a lot more and started getting along much better than they used to. apollo also started hanging out with jerry more and they got along with each other better too.
now that lily has passed, apollo only has jerry as another cat to hang out with. jerry was a year or two older than lily was, and jerry looked his age more than lily looked hers. im worried that jerry himself doesnt have much time left, and that hes going to be passing soon as well. i always thought that jerry would end up going first and that lily was going to outlive him. i thought that jerry was going to pass before lily would, given that he was older and showed more of his age. im worried that apollo wont have any other cat to cuddle with soon.
when roscoe was still here, he would often compulsively groom his fur and would often give himself hot spots and bald patches. ever since roscoe passed, apollo himself hasnt been in the best shape. hes been giving himself the same hot spots and bald patches that roscoe would get and has a cauliflower ear that still hasnt gone away yet. apollo still acts the same as always, but im worried that his health is going to end up deteriorating the same way that roscoe's did.

F/X (1986) Grade: D+
Considering how the maim character is built up, I was expecting something more ingenious. Will be a fascinating TV show now. The end was a mess.

Tales from the Gas Station, the Magnus Archives and the Anglerfish
TMA and TFTGS absolutely exist in the same universe
Nikola finds Jack absolutely delightful, in much the same way as she found Sebastian Skinner hilarious. She tries to get Jude to follow his blog, but Jude thinks anything related to the internet is for sweaty nerds, as if a constantly melting candle that knows about the stock market isn't the sweatiest nerd of them all.
(during the Jerry's head in a box / Benjamimics saga, Nikola messages the Avatar group chat with "RIP Jude Perry, you would have loved TFTGS Volume 3". Jude leaves her on read)
The Anglerfish tries to lure Jerry into the forest in order to steal his skin. Somehow Jerry ends up walking out of there completely unharmed and with multiple taxidermied human hides under his arm. The Anglerfish doesn't want to talk about it.
Breekon and Hope find the Twins too boring for words. Nikola thinks the four of them should be the best of friends. Breekon and Hope think that is kind of a hurtful stereotype. Not all giant menacing clown monsters are the same, c'mon man.
Michael / the Spiral sporadically pops in to the Gas Station via the various mysteriously appearing doors. He doesn't bother much with Jack (he found the whole Lydia Halligan situation depressing enough that it turned him off insomniacs) but he fucks with Tony and the Brick Roscoes on the reg.
The other Avatars refer to Roger as Annabelle's "creepy wooden son". To Annabelle, he's more like the embarrassing cousin who should be chained to a radiator in the attic and hidden away at parties. She keeps trying to manipulate Nikola into claiming him for the Stranger. Nikola gleefully tells her she would never dream of separating a mother from her baby.
Hithergreen Dissenters and the People's Church of the Divine Hope have both reached out to Shhhh. It did not go well. There may have been jerk-off gestures. From all six pairs of arms.

Little Muppet Sesame Things #76
So the Sesame Street 20th anniversary special ended with a great form of credits having everyone singing "Sing".
Ernie and Bert, chillin' together - Jim Henson and Frank Oz
Don Music jamming on his piano with some kids hanging out - Richard Hunt
Luis and Maria with two kids, who need a toy car fixed - Emilio Delgado and Sonia Manzano
Bob serenading us with his amazing voice with Barkley, everyone's favorite Sesame doggo - Bob McGrath and Fred Garbo
Big Bird at his nest - Caroll Spinney
Susan, Gordon, and Miles sitting on the stoop of 123 Sesame - Loretta Long, Roscoe and Miles Orman
Prarie Dawn and Ruby, the ladies of the Muppets - Fran Brill and Camille Bonora
Two kids with the Snuffleupagus siblings, little Alice and big brother Aloysius "Snuffy", Alice being an echo for Snuffy - Judy Sladky and Martin Robinson and Bryant Young
The Children of Sesame Street... a couple dozen kids, plus Maria and Luis
The Original blue man group: Herry Monster, Grover, and Cookie Monster - with David Rudman
Linda signs while Elmo sings happily - Linda Bove and Kevin Clash
Count solos after a countdown - Jerry Nelson
Telly sings while Baby Natasha babbles along - with Pan Arciero
Uncle Wally, Gina, and David with two kids at Hoopers - Bill McCutcheon, Alison Bartlett, and Northern Calloway
The first muppet we ever saw on Sesame...
... and the many friends and family. There are too many characters to even list off, but I love that Ernie and Kermit are close together as are Bert and Grover. You know Jim and Frank are controlling them with one hand each.
And end with a special tribute to Joe Raposo, who passed before the special aired.
I'd recommend this special, but... it's hosted by Bill Cosby.
...yeah...

What inspired the idea, story and characters of the Super Rodent Squad?
A lot of things, actually... though, keep in mind, I may have forgotten some things, as I was eight when I had the original ideas that would eventually become this. And this saga spanned years...
The two main shows I have to credit for getting this ball rolling are The Powerpuff Girls and Hamtaro. The former sparked an interest in superheroes while the latter sparked an interest in rodents--mainly hamsters, but me and my siblings did get interested enough to have some of those pocket pets as kids--dwarf hamsters, mice, and gerbils were our picks.
Anyway, Apple was the first made, after I watched an episode of Dexter's Lab called "Mom and Jerry"... simply because I thought the mouse design was cute.
I'm not sure what possessed me to give him butterfly wings, though the design is based on a Halloween costume my sister wore the year before. He did have an apple on his head at first, but I swapped it for antennae later. For years I imagined him with a voice and personality like Bubbles, but since a few years ago, I wanted to emphasize that he's a boy. He's still the most sensitive of the boys, but that's because he's six.
Bita was inspired by a pink toy rabbit my sister @knighta3 had and was originally the "Blossom" of the group--though her personality changed over time to be the older teenage sister of the group, and the interest and talent in rock music is relatively recent. I basically gave her to my sister as an imaginary friend, given that it was her toy rabbit that was the base, but it didn't really last.
Fireball was inspired by my brother's pet hamster and Buttercup from PPG, though I have no idea where the fire powers came from. I guess I just thought "angry = fire". My brother had stewardship over him for a bit until he decided to make his own character...
(Early art of the squad, with my original three and my brother's first character for this thing; pretty sure Bro drew this)
Big Bro created two hamster characters that were inspired by Fireball, but with ice and lightning--Iceball and Electroball. The former had a "cool" personality, while the latter was a goofball. Big bro also coined the name of the team (good thing too, because my original idea was The Furry Group... given the implications these days, I'm glad we went with his idea), created Iceball's brother... Darkball... and basically planted the seeds of what eventually became the story of these kids, like how they're orphans--save Apple, who has his mom and his younger twin siblings, Tootie and Bootie.
(They were also supposed to have "real names", but that never stuck. As a nod to that, Iceham's middle name is Joel and Apple's middle name is Joseph.)
Through our games with them, we've tried pitching characters--a pair of mouse brothers named Rocko and Roscoe (one with earth powers and the other with super intelligence), Eartha (rabbit with earth powers), a ferret with elasticity, an otter with water powers... none really stuck, aside from a couple villain ideas--an evil counterpart to Apple named Licorice, a ninja bunny, and the ghost sister of Fireball. Still, I didn't really flesh those out.
My friend did pitch in with creating a squirrel character named Woodchucker, who flew a plane and gnawed on wood really fast to create weapons, and was Apple's best friend (and still is, though I've made a few tweaks just to make him a normal kid with interests in planes and woodworking... and just named Woody).
Anyway, eventually my brother lost interest, and I gained custody of his characters. A3 did eventually pitch a character that did stick--Copy Katie, a hamster with the power of mimicry. And to add another girl character (since Bita was the only one up until Katie's creation), I created a little psychic mouse named Destiny.
However, as a teen, I was doing fandom things and making fan characters more often, though on occasion, I'd return to my rodents with a funny idea or two. Still, there was a bit of stagnation in how I handled the team...
However, in 2019, of all things, Darkwing Duck managed to get the SRS ball rolling again. Sure, I was doing fan art and stuff for DWD, but it did inspire me to take a good look at the Super Rodent Squad, and do a revamp on the idea to make it more interesting. Give it a new artstyle, flesh out the characters, give them a better villain roster, give them supporting characters, expand the world, etc.
(Also, one of the DWD villains was one of the inspirations for one of the SRS villains, which also led to a love of guinea pigs.)
For variety's sake, there were species and name changes--Iceball became Iceham, Electroball became a gerbil named Electrex, Destiny became a rat, Katie became a shapeshifting chipmunk. Tootie and Bootie were now Tootsie and Boots, Apple's mom actually got a name (Anna Merrimouser). We added another girl to the team--the light manipulating squirrel Lucia. Fireball's ghost sister became a water ghost to contrast Fireball's powers--and somehow became a more interesting character in the process. Ninja bunny--Terepoto--now has a motive; eradicate the supercritters with his magic sword. Licorice was given a backstory that made him the biggest menace of their world, though Darkhall (I only changed one letter of his name, haha) is still a pretty big menace himself.
(Also, the boogie monster is a cat and is just a troll to these kids.)
If you want to see the difference between the old version and the new version...
It's been a wild ride over the years, and these guys just get more and more fun to tinker with. I do get distracted with other ideas from time to time (got a cartoon city and a world of birds that I'm also dabbling in, though neither world has gotten the fleshing out that this has quite yet), but they're always a delight to return to.
Pffft, you ask for inspirations, and I give you the whole story. XD

t-bombs replied to your text post: BABY ROGUES!!!!!
They sure are cute :D
purplecyborgnewt replied to your text post: Nice to see Wallace, but… um… that flying dude doesn’t look like any version of Hartley I’ve ever seen. (Some versions of Mark, maybe…) Some brand new non-Hartley Piper? Or some brand new Hartley? t-bombs replied to your text post: Okay but. Are these supposed to be younger versions of the existing Rogues? Or new people taking up the titles. Because. Do I DARE hope for more next gen Rogues. Do I dare hope that that is Jerrie in that Piper gettup.
My guess is that it'll be whatever the writer and artist fancy -- if they feel like revamping an existing Rogue they'll probably do so, but if they feel like creating an entirely new one they'll do that too. That Top doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to Roscoe whatsoever, and maybe they'll call her Rosa or something, or maybe she'll have a completely unrelated name because she's an entirely new character. This is probably an AU, like most of the YA books, so anything goes.
It's interesting that Piper's got polka dots under that cloak, which is a nice callback…meanwhile Top's out there looking like Banshee :>

Last part of cute/heartwarming moments with these all being from tftgs vol 4!! (again context and spoilers are under the cut)
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
1st pic is from 27 and is Jerry defending Jack after Wendy (Jack's foster sister) was being condescending and rude.
pic 2 is from page 55 and basically Rosa is crying because she accidentally stepped on a lizard and killed it :( but dont worry the dark god brought it back :)
pic 3 is from page 88 and right after Jack was brought back to the gas station when he tried to leave town after he found out Sabine died. It's a really sad moment because Jack is so out of it and still very much grieving but I do find it sweet how worried Jerry got and how he basically panic bought a puppy trying to find some way to help like,,, he really cares about Jack a lot ;-;
pic 4 is from page 116 when Jack was dreaming/hallucinating/??? Spencer and Sabine showed up and killed dream-Spencer. Also Jack, seeing Sabine covered in Spencer's blood and smiling: God my gf is so fucking gorgeous (and honestly good for him!!)
pic 5 is from page 125 and after Jack got arrested for harassing Kieffer (I think?) and Jerry "broke in" to check on him
pic 6 is on page 157 and is after Jack, Benji and Whitebeard (one of the guys who attacked Jack and Jerry in vol 2) got kidnapped by the Brick Roscoes. man, I just love Jack's and Benji's friendship
pic 7 is on 252 and right before Jack, Rosa and Travis headed to Miller (Jack's bio dad) and I fucking how they're both protective over each other
pic 8 is from 305 and basically the gang are tied up and chained at the mathmetist compound by Roger's orders and a demon that is hunting Jack showed up (Jack got free from the chain by disconnecting his prosthetic leg)
pic 9 is on page 317 and is Jack and Sabine talking during a dream/hallucination/I don't know man it gets pretty muddled
and lastly pic 10 is from page 382 and is Jerry talking to O'Brien, right as Jerry, Jack and Rosa were about to leave town. I honestly think Jerry and O'Brien is one of my favorite dynamic in all of the books, wish we got more of that duo

Muppet MainStage September 25th, 2023
youtube
“What’s the Name of That Song?” was written by Sam Pottle and David Axlerod. It first appeared in 1974, in season 6 of Sesame Street. The song has been performed many times since then, usually performed by an ensemble.
The first instance of the song follows the residents of Sesame Street as they try to figure out what a song stuck in their heads is. The song starts with David (Northern Calloway), who is then joined by Bob (Bob McGrath), then Susan (Loretta Long) and Gordon (Roscoe Orman) come out and ask what the song is. Maria (Sonia Manzano) then starts singing the song and is accosted by the others asking what it is. Bert (Frank Oz) and Herry Monster (Jerry Nelson) say they know the name of the song, but they do not. Luis (Emilio Delgado) then comes out to ask what the song is (in Spanish). Then Oscar (Caroll Spinney) pops up to ask what the song is and complain. The Count (Jerry Nelson) then adds to the few remembered lyrics. Mr. Macintosh (Chet O’Brien) appears with his fruit stand to join the group. Mr. Hooper (Will Lee) asks what the name of the song is. And the ensemble walks off saying different songs, leaving David to finish the number.

Tony Vargas Vs the World
So @multi-lefaiye and I have been cultivating another AU. Mashed TFTGS with Scott Pilgrim VS the World and got this beautiful Jantonio-centered mess :3 (with Tony as Scott Pilgrim and Jack as Ramona Flowers)
First evil Ex: Karl Thomas:
Jack’s first ex is the one who’s super easy to defeat (like a mini-boss) so he doesn’t really matter. I’ll make him Jack’s first stalker from vol 2, Karl Thomas (the guy who had a shrine of jack and his missing socks and hair clippings in his trailer). Jack and he dated for like a week or two in middle school, but Jack interpreted “you’re my partner now!” for “let’s pair up on this project” and didn’t realize Karl’s intentions until the project was over and he kept hanging around him. Karl's still stalking him in this au too and Tony ‘defeats’ him easily in battle… with a gun (/hj)
Second evil Ex: Benji:
Next ex on the list is Benji! “Jack, what the hell! This guy’s huge!!” “What can I say? I like guys that are bigger than me.” “Everyone is bigger than you!” “Haha yeah” (Battle ideas: Hunting? Either each other or things in the forest. Or hunting each other in the forest)
Third "evil" Ex: Rosa Vasquez:
Third ex is Rosa <8 “Hi, Jack!” Rosa waves excitedly at Jack, who waves back with a friendly smile. Tony: “Oh, what? She doesn’t seem so bad, why’s she on your ‘evil ex’ list?” Jack: “Yeah, Rosa’s not so bad. We still hang out once in a while! The weird, Dark God possessing her, on the other hand…” Tony: “The wha--” Tony’s interrupted by the giant tree root hand that snatches him up and drags him into a fight with the now possessed!Rosa
Fourth and Fifth evil Exs: Brick Roscoe x2 (Xavier’s idea <8)
Jack dated one of the brick roscoes for a few months, probably shortly before Jack left for college. He never actually found out that there were two of them and that they were identical twins until much later, because neither of them ever said anything. basically they both just kinda gaslighted jack for a while and each dated him while he thought he only had one boyfriend. he broke things off with both of them when he found out (which happened when the bricks messed up and forgot to coordinate their schedules so they'd never both be in the room with jack at the same time. offering him a threesome did not make him feel better about the whole thing.) In terms of the battle, I think playing up the identical twin thing would be fun. probably a bit predictable, but y'know.
Tony: oh god which one do i fucking shoot Jack: SHOOT THEM BOTH
i think a fun tie-in with this would be like. early in jack and Tony's relationship, Jack asks him if he has a twin, and Tony says no, and Jack says "oh thank god."
Tony: Why'd you ask?? Jack: Uh. don't worry about it.
Sixth evil Ex: Jerry Pascal
6th ex is Jerry :D They dated in college and Jack really liked him until he started getting interested in this new cult that started warping his mind. Jack had to break things off when Jerry wouldn’t stop insisting on him joining so they could “put a stop to all the world’s suffering together,” whatever that meant. (battle idea: battle of wits? Tony thinks it’ll be a piece of cake because this guy acts dumber than a rock. Ends up getting his ass kicked kahoot style)
Seventh evil Ex: Spencer (Fucking) Middleton
7th evil ex is the one and only Spencer Middleton! Jack’s most recent (and most evil) ex of them all. Jack won’t even talk about why they broke up, so Tony assumes it’s really bad. He does tell him that it was his most recent breakup, though, and they’d been dating for a few years after meeting at one of his part time jobs. Spencer's probably the one who orchestrated the whole "League of Evil Exes" thing just to piss off Jack and make his (dating) life a living hell. (Battle idea: fistfight!!!)
feel free (please do) drop suggestions for how jack met/broke up with other exes (or any other trivia you'd wanna add)
#That's all we got so far#Probably gonna add this one to the AU list#chai guy rambles#chai writes stuff#chai guy can't finish his prompts for shit#tftgs#tftgs jack#tftgs tony#jantonio#fuck it im not tagging all of them#xavier my beloved friend#yeah thats right he gets his own tag bc ilh#also if you can't tell. i'm losing my mind#VS the World AU#tftgs au
