She’d be INCREDIBLE on sesame street

OK i just had a Bunsenbeaker hc that won’t leave me alone;
What if, while they were filming something live from Muppet Labs, Bunsen was introducing Beaker as usual, but instead of saying ‘My *insert endearing adjective here* assistant’, he says
‘My lovely husband.’
And the fans proceed to lose their shit, even as Bunsen rushes to correct himself bc shit sorry Beakie didn’t mean to let the cat out of the bag.
You can pry this couple, and this hc, from my cold dead hands. Yes, you can.

Muppet Mainstage, November 28th, 2023
“Big Spender” is a song from the 1966 musical Sweet Charity, written by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields. The song follows a group of “taxi dancers” (women who were paid to dance with men) who are trying to entice men to buy a dance with them.
In the 1973 tv special, Julie on Sesame Street, Julie Andrews performed the song to a dapperly dressed Cookie Monster (Frank Oz), who then begins to eat all of her accessories.
Normally I just post a link to a YouTube video with the song because that’s easier, but all the available clips of this song aren’t the best quality, so I made a clip from the special that someone uploaded to YouTube. Also delightful special in general.

Muppet Mainstage, December 12th
youtube
“Marley and Marley” was written by Paul Williams for the 1992 movie A Muppet Christmas Carol. The song features Jacob (Statler, performed by Jerry Nelson) and Robert Marley (Waldorf, performed by Dave Goelz) singing about the crimes they committed in life and their fate, warning their former partner Ebeneezer Scrooge (Michael Caine).

sometimes my friends send me tiktoks where people rank the “gayest muppets” and it always annoys me because the lists are always the flimsiest fucking things with like 7 muppets on them. The last one i got sent had 6 muppets and NO MUPPETS PERFORMED BY RICHARD HUNT. NONE. Tell me you don’t know your muppet history without telling me you don’t know your muppet history.

see the THING IS. The muppets are cheesy and kitschy and earnest in a simple way. They’re about being a group of freaks that found where they belong with each other. Yes, Miss Piggy is glamorous and sassy but it feels wrong to see her in a mansion alone instead of a dressing room that is under threat of siege at any moment. Kermit is easy to fluster and is prone to wiggly armed fits of rage when appropriate. The humor isn’t sarcastic marvel style quips, it’s really bad puns and exaggerated slapstick with a couple of absolutely genius puns tossed in. They need to be together. They’re a family. A really lame, kitschy, earnestly weird family.

okay since everyone’s like “oh knives out muppet movie next, but a muppet would have to be the murderer” here’s my pitch.
Wayne and Wanda are killed during a performance while famous detective Benoit Blanc is in the audience. This incident is somehow much more suspicious than every other time something’s gone wrong in one of their performances, so Blanc volunteers himself to investigate. The first half of the movie is the set up, we learn about the characters/potential motives/etc etc. Second half of the movie, Fozzie comes up to Blanc and confesses. He thinks he accidentally killed them. We get the events from his perspective. Blanc thinks about this for a moment and Fozzie leaves. Scooter comes in. He confesses that he thinks HE accidentally killed them. Almost every muppet comes up and confesses to the murder and gives their side of the story. Blanc listens to all of their stories and then at the end he proves them all wrong.
Wayne and Wanda faked their own death as revenge for being fired/rehired so many times, and for the shoddy conditions they worked in, AND in the hopes that their duet album would take off if they were dead.

the other day my sister sent me a reel on instagram about a “crazy fact you wouldn’t believe” and it was that Yoda and Miss Piggy were voiced by the same person (didn’t even say his name (Frank Oz) or some of the other muppets he voiced) and it’s like I know I am an outlier with a deep love for muppets. But I thought it was a relatively well known fact. And even if it wasn’t, you can hear the similarities in their voices. Anyways I felt like that one comic with overestimating general knowledge
