Cats have nine lives and if this team were cats they would have blown through several cats’ lives of luck! Action packed thrill ride from beginning to end ~ Couldn’t put it down.

What I Liked:

* The team: five intrepid, highly skilled, lethal, dedicated, admirable, and intriguing men that worked together seamlessly * The bond between the team members, the synchronicity of their actions, the use of their skillsets and their uncanny way of reading one another as well as the situation

* Learning about two of the team who are considering a life beyond and the idea of family and what their future might hold had me wondering if the team might resign together or if some would stay no matter what – wouldn’t mind seeing them develop their own business together in the future

* Reading a bit about the Congo and being glad I was NOT on the run with the team

* Glimpses of the Op Cen back in the USA and how they scrambled on their end

* Thinking about what it would take to be a “local asset” in one’s country assisting a covert operations team ~ and the impact the local asset in this story had on the overall story

* The plot, pacing, setting and writing

* That the mission was successful though it left the door open for another one and a book to tell us what will happen next

* Thinking about what the team will do if and when they disband

* Knowing that there is at least one more book in this series to look forward to

What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like

* Thinking about how being on the “right side” doesn’t always mean your hands are clean

Did I like this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series/by this author? Yes

Lethal Horizon by Jason Kasper

Shadow Strive #7

Excellent, action-packed, thought provoking, immersive read that was an excellent addition to this series.

What I liked:

* The team: five intrepid, highly skilled, lethal, dedicated, admirable, and intriguing men that worked together seamlessly

* The bond between the team members, the synchronicity of their actions, the use of their skillsets and their uncanny way of reading one another as well as the situation

* The location and learning more about the geography, people, and politics in Yemen * Being able to see this story as if it were playing out on a big screen in a theater

* Thinking about what it would take to do the job that David and his team undertake as well as the impact it must have on them and their families

* The opportunity the team has to encounter and perhaps neutralize the boogieman they have been chasing

* Thinking about the information shared by someone they questioned and hoping that what he said was fiction and not true in the real world

* How pertinent to current political issues the story is

* Getting to see and catch up with David’s family

* Thinking about what the future of the team might be

What I didn’t like:

* Who and what I was meant not to like

* Thinking about some in power and how easily they made questionable decisions – questionable to me anyway

* Knowing that many of the dark parts of this story actually do happen in real life

Did I like this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series/ by this author? Yes

Which characters have you seen be the subject of genuine and in depth discussions of characterisation, motivations, backstories, etc?

^^^ This is a bit of a tricky question to phrase so let me give some examples. An example could be a lengthy essay on a PC's trauma and how it affect their actions in campaign. It could be someone's extensive headcanon of a minor character's backstory. Another example could be someone dumping about a villain's motivations and internal thoughts. Maybe someone just like draws them a bunch and constantly yells BLORBO, idk. Stuff along those lines.

Vincent Sinclair: He would also fix the hairstyle if it came apart, if it doesn’t disturb your slumber. Be he would take the time to fix it, even if he has to put himself in an uncomfortable position 

Jennifer Check: She would also fix the hairstyle if it got messed up. However, she would probably disrupt your sleep to do it right. Would tell you to sit up right quick lol

Jason Voorhees: He would just fix it as gently as possible so that you won’t wake up. Will fix it as many times as he needs, since he doesn’t really sleep much. Doesn’t matter if you sleep wild or not. It won’t bother him

Daniel Lamb: Will fix it, but might put it on wrong if it’s a scarf or du-rag. Might accidentally wake you with his elbow in your face, “Shit! Sorry! I was just trying to fix it!” It’s okay baby, I understand lmao

Carrie White: Fixes it, but with her powers lol. She’s tired so she’ll just make it move back to were it was and go back to sleep

Stu Matcher: If he wakes up and notices, then he will. Other wise, this boy sleeps deep and snores too. It doesn’t happen often lol

Jesse Cromeans: Primarily works at night so he won’t be home most of the time. If he does stay home and he notices, he’ll just stuff your hair back into it and leave it be.

Asa Emory: Stuffs your hair back into it and maybe adds in a clip to keep it in place. He’s either tired or busy and won’t spend his energy worrying too much about it

Patrick Bateman: Also stuffs the hair back, probably messing up the hairstyle. If he’s awake during the night. he’s pretty adamant about getting all 8 to 9 hours of rest to stay youthful. He just cares about himself

Billy Loomis: He helps you do your hair but doesn’t know a clue about how to really put a scarf properly. He just slides it forward, thinking that it’ll fix it. After seeing it got messed up, he stops even trying

Bo Sinclair: Sleeps throughout the night so he won’t fix it. If he contemplates it if he’s still awake, he will decide not to. He doesn’t want to hear about you fussing at him in the morning

Leo Kasper: If Leo takes over Daniel, his evil ass would look and pretend he didn’t see it. He doesn’t have time for petty shit like that, would rather put energy into killing someone.

I’m really enjoying the new Sox Degrees podcast with Len Kasper and Jason Benetti. The first episode I listened to (#2) has Bob Odenkirk as a guest. I knew little about him, so it was cool to get a taste of his personality. While there really was not much baseball talk in that episode, I was totally hooked when Bob and Len started talking about The Replacements.
