今、聖書をよみました。Here is the verse of the day which I captured yesterday.
This in the Bible is written to the Philippians. (ピリピ人)The reference in English is Philippians 4:9, which says, "What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
This honestly stuck out to me because I was just thinking about all the work I've been doing lately and how stressed I've been. Because honestly, yeah, I've been really stressed.
Between work and academics I was really struggling to spend time with God. Honestly, I'm sure everyone has that problem at one point. For me, without noticing it, I stopped spending as much time as I previously did. I had one friend ask me, "From one to ten, with one being the worst and ten being the best, how would you rate your current spiritual journey? As in, how often are you praying, how often do you talk to Him? How often do you go to church or Bible study or worship? How often do you spend time just studying the Bible?"
And I said..."Well, honestly, last year I'd say it was a 8/10. I spent so much time with Him." But now I felt myself falling away from Him, I couldn't spend time with Him with how busy I was, and with how tired I was by the time I got home. So I was stuck saying, "But now, I'm probably a 5/10."
Ultimately I had to make a change in my schedule and swap jobs, so that I could prioritize. Yeah, making less money because I have a different job. BUT, now I'm able to spend more time with God and I feel ultimately more peaceful.
Why? Because as illustrated by this verse, I had to remember everything I learned, everything I've studied, everything God has told me, and put them into practice. And now, I'm at peace. We're chill guys, we're vibing.
No I'm still not perfect, but...I'm trying. Trying to spend time with him. Trying to not worry (as I wrote about previously in John 16:33). Trying to put into practice the values the Bible has taught me...
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Message me your thoughts on this verse. ♡
まってね、wishing you all the best blessings

Ok ok ok, so I'm a person who really likes Jpop and listens to a lot of Japanese music.
I'm also a devoted Christian and listen to a lot of Christian music.
So I thought, 'Hm, I wonder if there are any Christian Japanese bands? '
Obviously I wasn't expecting very much since the number of Christians in Japan is lower than 2% of the whole Japanese population.
But I did manage to scrounge around and find some, such as:
-Imari Tones
That's pretty much it actually. There was some other stuff from reddit that I did some digging on and I don't think it's 100% true.
While in my quest to find such bands, I came across a reddit user who was replying to a reddit post asking about Japanese Christian bands.
They listed in their reply that Kyoshi Ijichi from ASIAN KUNG FU-GENERATION is a Christian.
Of course I did some digging on this cause I mean.... It's a reddit post. It's unlikely to find information of reliability there...
But indeed, his Wikipedia page did say he was a Christian. (I don't know if this is a reliable source or not..? I'll have to ask my English teacher I suppose.)
Idk, I just thought it was pretty cool that a band member from a band with LOTS of influence is a Christian.
Pretty cool if you ask me.
One of the reasons I'd love to go on a missions trip to Japan someday. I love Japan. And the people there are very nice from what I've heard.
Ok I better stop this rant while I'm ahead or I could go talking about this until my brain dies.
Idk. I just thought that small piece of information was pretty cool.

There's this odd trend in anime, have you noticed it yet?
Tumblr media
It’s actually been there for a while, hell maybe since some of its early and most beloved days. It's mystic shrines tended to by beautiful maidans, wise elders beseeching the forces beyond on behalf of their people, and those so special moments shared by all who live around them… That’s right baby it’s the Spanish inquisition!!!!
Tumblr media
Well technically it's the larger organization from which the surprising Spaniards derived from. Of course I mean the catholic church. That’s right from Trigon to Black lagoon to whatever the hell Black clover thinks nuns are, the Japanese anime industry is in love with the Bishop of Rome’s fan club. And while many enjoy these shoutouts or are just as equally confused by them, few have sought to shed light on this subject. But those who do I got some protestant v catholic beef with yell.
Many posit that the Japanese place so many Catholic imagery, ideas, and design motifs into their shows simply because it’s this interesting foreign thing that just looks neat. Pic related.
Tumblr media
Well I say nay nay to that. Before we dive into the REAL reason for why Japan actually loves them Roman Residents, that the feds don’t want you to know. We must first at least cast off this lesser understanding.
Tumblr media
Ok now that clickbait dramatics are out of the way this idea of Japanese fascination with Catholics and Christianity as a whole being purely based of aesthetics and just vague interest is not inherently wrong. But I do find it to be incomplete. I mean come on if they want some weird ass religion to put in their show they got India and Hinduism right across the way. Now this is no slight at my beloved Hindis out there but ya'll got to admit your religion would make the most balls to the walls kickass anime since Gurren Lagan destroyed my eyeballs and left for dead in Cincinnati.
(Cough Cough) Furthermore, I just find that there are other options for Japan that they seem to completely ignore. I mean why not Judaism or Islam, hell why not even other forms of Christianity like Greek Orthodoxy or even Mormonism. NO!
Tumblr media
There is something special about Catholicism that these cool cats in Tokyo can’t get enough of and I’m about to blow your mind with it...
It’s not what’s different but what they have in common.
Tumblr media
No I’m serious! There are numerous and very shocking similarities that make Catholicism the perfect mix of mysterious and familiar for the Japanese/Shinto palate.
First and foremost of these is chivalry. When one looks into the history of Bushido one will always find the Buddha specifically the Zen Buddhism mixed in with their own Shinto background. From this fertile soil of respect for nature and stoicism would sprout into the powerful flower of the bushido code. And oh, would you look at that that’s right! After the European horseman of old got sipping that sweet Catholic eucharist wine, what did they end up doing? Giving themselves a rule book called chivalry to keep them in line with that heavenly way. So obviously when a Japanese man would trace the lines, he’d be like "oh, so this is like what Zen and Shinto was like to the samurai? That’s pretty neat let’s throw it in my new anime."
Another odd one is gonna get a little more esoteric so work with me here. I believe that both the Catholic Church and Shintoism both have this acknowledgement of a similar phenomenon. The inherent mystic power of the feminine touch.
See shrine maidans and nuns. Both are almost synonymous when one thinks of their respective church or shrine. Like ask a western man what he thinks when you say catholic church... and after all the profane shit, he’ll likely say nuns. A similar phenomena would be seen in the Japanese man... minus the profanity. I believe this similarity exists because both Catholicism and Shintoism accounted for that special touch a woman can bring to a place. That grace and delicate nature, that way of mysterious connection to the more stranger aspects of the world. It’s like this meme.
Tumblr media
Now next is another weird one that came to mind. They both have this ritualistic respect of water. For the Catholic this is baptism and the use of holy water to bless one’s self and other objects, a similar concept exists in Japan where one washes their hands before entering a Shrine and then there is the use of ritualistic waterfall bathing, Misogi.
Tumblr media
now this is like baptism on steroids so here’s another handshake meme.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Alright now we can really get into the anime shit. Demons!!! Not only do they both share a common insane lore of specific demons and all the fucked-up shenanigans that ensue, but they also have equal amounts of exorcisms and exorcists to kick infernal ass. Seriously, I think this is like the main reason why we see so many Catholics in anime fighting demons. It's as old as the Nazarene Himself. So when a Japanese man hears something about Jesus casting out a thousand demon host named Legion you better believed he’s gonna go home and write some kick ass manga featuring some big ass demon named Legion. Said Japanese man pictured here
Tumblr media
It's gonna be Jump's next big three slot just you wait.
And finally, to top this all off Imma end it wholesome 100. So there is this huge aspect in Japanese culture where a large majority will go to shrines get themselves and their children blessed and attend and partake in all the festivals, but not really call themselves Shinto. Is this not the same as all of those who go to Easter and Christmas mass even though they couldn't tell you a cross from a crucifix?
Tumblr media
This is the final similarity. That something beyond the theology which binds the community together. And even though these so called 'different' worlds are oceans apart they share this community bond, that little slice of unity in this crazy world and makes it all worth it. And that kid is what we call in the philosophy Bizz an universal concept… and a way to make some kick ass anime.
Anyway that's about it smell you later hoped you learned something.

The Amazing Digital Circus: Guardian AU
Tumblr media
My TADC AU is now up and running! I will be making a poster, character cards, general art, and possibly comics based around the storyline. Here’s the information!:
Description:
Caine is the ringmaster and ruler of The Amazing Digital Circus, but there are some things that even he can’t control. NPCs go rogue all the time, often acting out and trying to genuinely hurt the circus members as they go on adventures. Because of this, Caine has always appointed two circus members he deems the most worthy to protect him and others from danger. They have been different over the years (mainly due to abstractions), but currently Jax and Ragatha are his Guardians. The two of them are more privileged than the regular circus members: they are allowed to wield weapons, swear, indulge in vices, and the like as long as they do so in private, do their jobs well, and don’t disrupt the "family-friendly" atmosphere of the circus. Caine trusts them…or so he says. And to make matters worse, it looks like NPCs are forming an uprising to overthrow Caine, led by none other than a revived Gummigoo! Travel through the colorful world of TADC, but covered in a grimy layer of violence, corruption, and deception.
Who will the story focus on:
Caine
Abel
Pomni
Jax
Ragatha
Kinger and Queenie
Princess Loo, Gummigoo, and other/more NPCs as the canon Digital Circus web series progresses
Genre:
Religious and psychological horror
Comedy
Action
Philosophical(?)
Content Warning - Anything produced for this AU may have any of the following elements:
Religious themes
Implied/referenced torture
Blood (No gore, but this may change in the future)
Mental health issues
War themes
Gambling
Alcohol and Drugs
Foul Language
This AU is recommended for ages 16+. The creator of this blog is 18.
…Wait, there’s more?!
Tumblr media
FAQ:
Can I make fanart?
Yes, fanart is encouraged and always appreciated! Just make sure to credit me as the creator when needed. Do not use my creations if you are hateful/racist/sexist/anti-LGBTQ or just problematic in any other way. I don’t want what I make to be associated with these things. As for NSFW stuff…I would prefer if you didn’t. (Okay, well…now that I think about it, sure, go ahead, go crazy. But please don’t send it to me, I don’t really wanna see it. And tag it appropriately! Be mindful of others!) Ocs are allowed!! Ships (Canon x Canon, Canon x OC, OC x OC, whatever) are allowed! Tag me in anything as long as it’s SFW. Seriously, do whatever you want!
What are the religious themes?
Christianity. I am a Christian myself, but I also really enjoy religious horror and researching different religions. Does Pomni represent Jesus in this story? Not really. But, I will be using themes/images of Christianity (like angels, for example) to enhance the horror. I also like studying Japanese and Chinese mythological figures, purely out of interest. I will never try to push my beliefs onto the audience in any way. People can believe in whatever they want!
Are there any ships?
Bunnydoll (Jax x Ragatha) is the main ship. It is mostly implied/referenced and nothing overly romantic happens. The story focuses on their emotional bond since they are both Caine’s guardians. If you don’t like the ship, please don’t be rude to people who do. And if you do like the ship, don’t be rude to people who don’t! There’s enough hate on the internet already. Just be mindful that we all like different things, and have fun!
How will the story be told?
Through comics, probably. It’s easier for me to write things in a document (as a script) and then draw, so it will take time. I will also make art on the side that may or may not have canon information or events. It depends.
What inspired you?
The 70s (lots of yellow, orange and brown colors), Skinnamarink, religious horror, vintage Las Vegas, vintage snacks, and other random stuff. I have specific inspirations for different characters. But my inspiration to even start this project is definitely @/burrotello and The Amazing Digital Fight Club AU. It’s awesome!
Can I ask questions about characters, the story, etc?
Yes, but if it’s an answer I don’t want to reveal yet…well, we’ll see what happens. Sometimes, I will make drawings where a character reacts or responds!

ok, well. if last time i talked about parallels between near & light, i guess it’s only fair that this time i talk about parallels between mello & misa. yap central on this blog lately.
the main thing that stands out the most about mello & misa, and the reason why i will forever Defend them and their place in the story, is that in my mind they both function in a similar way on a narrative level: namely, both of them are incredibly active wild-card characters that keep the action going and the story moving forward when the other main characters like light, L, & near start getting too passive.
notably, while i often see this trait praised in mello, usually in the context of a comparative criticism of near for his overly-abundant passivity, i have also seen it used as a criticism of misa's character, that she breaks up the status quo of DN too significantly and thereby makes the story feel less realistic. this last point in particular is an odd argument to make imo, as if anything misa's presence only increases the realism of DN by adding some extra luck/random chance into the story in a way that is ultimately still character-motivated and thus easier for the audience to go along with-- something DN in general is very good at, often introducing elements through pure chance but keeping them grounded in characters enough that you almost don't even notice.
take light meeting naomi misora, for example: the only reason he runs across her at all is because he offers to run an errand for his mom on a bored laundry day, literally stumbling across her right at the exact moment she is divulging important insights she is literally the only person capable of making about kira. yet this moment does not stand out as particularly aggravating or out of place in the story, as ultimately the only reason why light is able to get out of that situation is his own quick thinking and ability to calm himself while under immense pressure, squeezing his way out of a potentially run-ending situation he didn't even know existed moments prior.
(not a fan of that big joel video, if you couldn't tell. lmao.)
point is, mello & misa both fulfill about the same narrative function in the story by being so aggressive in their actions, catching the others off guard even if their plans aren't as well thought out or careful as they could otherwise be. they're both incredibly passionate, dedicated characters as well, tough enough to take the hit when it inevitably comes, and in my opinion neither of them are nearly as stupid as the other MCs like to make them out to be. to some degree, i think both of them are aware of the fact that they can't win at the Mind Game Cold War Bullshit the others are inclined to get involved in, so they instead choose to carve out their own place in the story through sheer perseverance alone.
which, speaking of passion: one of the most interesting parallels i think you can make between mello & misa is the ways in which they idolize their respective heroes, misa's obviously being light while mello's is L. allow me to elaborate.
as this post points out, DN has some very interesting use of its religious imagery & theming, and in particular its use of christian/catholic gothic imagery in its story and especially its art. however, as op notes, a lot of this is quite superficial, ascribing to an aesthetic of "kitschy Catholicism," that was characteristic of a lot of early 2000s japanese goth style. yet, while i admit that a more serious consideration of religious elements in the art & story could add some interesting flavor to the story, i also think that, regardless of intention, the superficiality of DN's religious elements works really well in the context of this particular story. as i stated in my tags on that post: light is a superficial god. he is a fake, a scam, some idiot human that stumbled across the powers of a real shinigami and got his head up his ass about it. and a lot of the arcs of other characters in DN is about their reaction to light's claims-- whether they choose to follow him (e.g. misa, mikami), follow somebody else (e.g. mello), or follow nobody at all (e.g. near, also kinda soichiro?), and the implications that has for their lives and personalities.
this is all to say that while you can, on a surface level, connect misa & mello pretty easily as the two aggressive, fashionable blondes of the series, i also think that these somewhat superficial traits betray a greater connection between the two of them. if we understand the christian/catholic elements of misa & mello's fashion as a demonstration of their connection to not just a higher power but a lie, a superficial deity simply reflecting the sunlight of powers greater than himself, then i think we have great insight into another key element of both their characters.
do not forget: in the world of DN, heaven & hell do not exist. at least in the context of death itself, the realm & lore of the shinigami reign supreme, a point which the DN musical makes even more overt: "Isn't it a laugh? / Isn't it a shame? / Thinking there is someone in heaven to blame?" and "Going through the motions / as if there will be a reward / Oh, while we stay eternally bored!" (BEST SONGGG.) everyone is destined for the same fate of MU, the same void of nothingness awaits all. no reward, no punishment, no greater deity looking down upon us than the bored, slothful shinigami, lazing about in their realm and picking people off only when necessary (for the most part).
misa & mello are thus dedicating themselves to false idols, and we can see the negative effects this has on them in almost every facet of their character-- particularly for mello, who is perhaps more self-aware and has more of a mixed emotional outlook on his idol, but maybe even to a more extreme degree for misa. i keep going back to this idea of equating boredom with depression in DN, but where light/L/near are all "bored" in a very quiet, passive, stewing-in-bed late at night kinda way, misa & mello are characteristically a lot more aggressive and intense about it-- while neither of them are super overtly suicidal, necessarily, their actions still betray a distinct lack of care for their own safety or lives, expressing the same thematic sentiment as the others. even if they still don't straight up say it, through their actions they're a lot louder about not liking themselves, and seem to take the problems they see in the world more personally, shouldering the blame as a failure within themselves instead of projecting it outward like the others: e.g. light taking his unhappiness at the emptiness of his life at the start of the story & placing the blame on the world for "going to shit" & humanity's moral failings, versus misa being willing to literally & figuratively give up her life for KIRA the second he demands it, whether that be in the form of shinigami eyes or killing her own friends w/o second thought-- all because he was the only thing to bring justice to her own parents' deaths, an almost undoubtedly traumatizing/horrible experience for her considering how much value she places on KIRA/light afterwards.
to clarify, this is not to say that all of these characters are actually and literally depressed and/or suicidal, though you could certainly make that argument for some/all of them-- this is just one way that i think you could interpret their roles in the plot, and their thematic attachment to the story. even if DN isn't all that interested in considering the True Moral Answer to ethics/the justice system/human society/etc, it definitely takes at least some interest in the emotional viewpoints of characters in relation to those concepts, so i think this is a fair enough approach to take. or to say this another way, it's less about justifying the claim that "the world is shit," and more about trying to understand the emotional motivation & experience of feeling like the world is shit, if that makes sense.
that being said...speaking more on the whole "not liking themselves," thing: even if she doesn't say it aloud often, if ever, i think that misa is deeply aware of the fact that she was not supposed to live this long, that her existence at all is a pure stroke of luck that let her live on past her destined date. she dedicates herself to light so fully, not even necessarily expecting reciprocation (though she at least reserves herself the possibility of such), because being a disciple to her god at least gives her life some kind of purpose. similarly, i think mello is also aware of just how out of reach the one thing he wants is, how his desperation in and of itself is ironically the one thing keeping him from surpassing near and truly being #1. it's important to note that pre-time skip misa & post-skip mello are almost exactly the same age, around 20 years old at the time of their main arcs. they're immature, and in the case of mello especially, are lashing out at the world in whatever way they can because they know they don't quite fit into it in the way that they want to or should. regardless of the intent behind it, mello & misa both still make the conscious decision to kill with the DN-- perhaps in a way that still keeps their humanity, at least following near's logic, but it's a decision to end a human life either way.
anyways, going back to my previous point, this "worshiping of false idols," idea has some interesting implications-- for misa & mello yes, but also for L and the ways in which he contrasts again light, as under this logic mello's treatment kind of inherently gives L a similar status as a sort of false god/idol. which-- actually makes a lot of sense? or at the very least, viewing wammy's house as a kind of mystery cult a la the eleusinian mysteries is a neat approach to take. L & light's mutual alienation from humanity fits them both filling a false god status, anyway. also there's another thread of analysis you could follow here where near is instead fit into the role of the person mello is fixated on which AAAAAAAAA has interesting implications but jesus fucking christ, this post is long. some thoughts for another time, i suppose.

今日は、聖書のよみました。In my opinion, this is some of the most comforting of reads.
In English, this passage is found in John 16:33.
The ESV translation of John 16:33 says, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have great tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
Basically the intention of this verse is words of comfort. Jesus said this as encouragement, telling us not to worry about the future, to not worry about the trials that we go through.
In another words, no matter what we go through, Jesus is here for us. God is here for us. We aren't alone here, because he watches over us.
This verse helped me through a lot last year. I was feeling terribly stressed. I had so much going on that I barely had any time for myself. I was worried for my future, for everything I had coming up next...
But then I realized, when I read this, that if I just sit down for a little while and pray, then I might just be alright. That I'm not alone, that I'm safe with him no matter what.
Whether it's politics, or if it's the bad things on the news, or if it's feeling pressured, or alone, or having too much to deal with, I don't have to worry as much because God is with me no matter which direction life takes. Ultimately, I'm safe with him.
I hope that perhaps, this might be a little comforting or inspirational to anyone else reading this.
With Love,
~ Sanae ♡

I made a post on twitter a month ago about Byleth and how I didn't understand why so many people take the western centric take of losing their divinity as a good thing when Byleth's journey is a very Buddhist character journey. An Edelstan found it just yesterday, wrote this long ass essay about why I was wrong, with no sources but level 4 headcanons ie you literally made that tf up. I linked them to a really cool blog post that backs up all their sources about why it's Buddhist, all the motifs the game has with it shoutout to FantasyInvader's blog for alerting me to it and of course they come back with how I nor the blog poster don't understand Buddhism and also the game itself. Why? Because the blog and the Buddhist reading say CF continues the cycle of suffering when according to the Edelstan it has the "True Peace" motif. Oh and they cussed me out.
Anyway I blocked them after that but the point is, I'd be willing to give these people a chance and hear them out if they didn't act like babies and throw a tantrum when someone throws facts, logic and sources both from the game and analysis that backs up points with other material at them. Game is the true peacfe route? Oh look the banner is the only one with a black border why is that? Oh and this is the only route that ends with fire and darkness in the bg when every other one ends with light? Hmmmm.
I'm tempted to just drop a bunch of literature critical thinking questions anytime I interact with these people because boy do they not know how to do it because anytime they run into something backed up they yell until the person gives up and goes away. What a sad existence no wonder they all live in that server.
It's excessively strange how divorced from the home country people want 3H to be, that despite the game (like many FE games tbh) taking cues and morals from Japanese society, they'll just ignore it because "oh church = catholicism and christianity is bad" which is reductive.
I'd recommend just keep on doing what you're doing by blocking the people who come in with heat with no actual firepower to back it up.

an extremely thorough list of content warnings for jojos bizarre adventure
because the old one was made by a deleted blog so it isnt easily accessible any more (and i dont think it was good enough to begin with)
btw if you say anything to the effect of "why do people like jojo when it has x" or "you guys really excuse y?" on this post im just gonna block you. people who get angry about me saying to skip parts/episodes will also get blocked.
feel free to reply/send an ask with anything i missed, preferably with a chapter or episode number. parts 7 and 8 wont be on here in full until i finish reading them but feel free to send me cws for them and ill add them. also the warnings are just in the order they appear, and more specifically when they appear in the anime, so as to not have weird "x is more important than y" nonsense
general warnings
these are things that…. basically if youre triggered by these i think you should just sit this out tbh. its an amazing series but its not worth repeatedly triggering yourself. this ones just ordered alphabetically bc its throughout (read: in at least 3 parts)
blood, violence, body horror, gore, and death -amputation -animal abuse and death (especially of dogs) -decapitation -eye, nail, and mouth horror -impalement -parental and sibling death -police brutality -suicide and self harm
child abuse -child abandonment -corporal punishment -leering shots of minors bodies -pedophilia (still gets a warning every time) -physical abuse
christian themes and symbolism
drug use -alcohol -tobacco -underage drug use -unspecified white powder
fire and explosions
gambling
misogyny, both in-universe and on the part of the author
racism (gets specific warnings every time)
sexual misconduct -catcalling -rape (still gets a warning every time) -sexual assault -sexual harassment
unsanitary -eating/drinking gross things —being forced to eat/drink gross things -pee -poop -snot -vomit
vehicle accidents -car accidents -plane crashes
part 1: phantom blood
(manga only) ritual sacrifice
restricted eating
non-consensual kissing
(manga only) a dog is shown on fire
poisoning
chinese ethnic stereotypes
a baby gets eaten
part 2: battle tendency
okay im gonna rip the bandaid off now. there are nazis in this one, and its significantly worse than youd expect just reading that. im gonna quote the old list here: "there are so many nazis in this part and they’re not condemned like at all tbh". i would almost say its glorified, one of the main allies is a nazi and another main ally directly praises a different nazi. in the manga, hitler and swastikas are explicitly shown as well as nazis being called by name, but in the anime, they are removed and simply called german soldiers.
almost nothing from this part comes back in the future and what does come back is explained as it comes up or is understandable from context. so please. if you need to skip this part, just do it. i even understand if you skip the whole series because of this.
its possible some may find the mesoamerican aesthetic of the villains in this part to be insensitive or offensive. im mexican and i personally dont, but i could see why someone would
racism toward: -black people -mexican people —slavery and degradation of mexican women is explicitly shown -japanese people
hostage situation
kidnapping
human experimentation
ritual sacrifice
"man in a dress" gag and subsequent transmisogyny
unintentional incest. there are only two scenes of this, which are: -a character spying on someone (later revealed to be their mother) in the bath -going through said mothers belongings and talking about her panties
animal cannibalism
part 3: stardust crusaders
since fights in this part are much more self-contained than the other parts, its possible to skip some of these if youre triggered by them. those will be marked with chapter and episode numbers
a woman gets spontaneously undressed in the middle of a fight (only her bra shows but it happens against her will)
jotaro, a 17 year old, kisses an adult woman to save her from possession. i wouldnt really say this is pedophilia and it lasts for 1 panel/less than 10 seconds but i found it uncomfortable
while incapacitated from sickness, holly will randomly be shown naked with weird leering camera angles. this happens many more times in the anime than the manga
pedophilia (depicted as a bad thing and the victim is saved before anything happens) (skip chapters 17-19/episode 7)
native american stereotypes (skip chapters 20-22/episode 8)
"person gets replaced" trope (skip chapters 23-6/episode 9; chapters 76-79/episode 27)
infection
suffocation
drowning
"child acting like a pervert" trope (skip chapters 92-96/episodes 32-33) -in the same episodes, the child spends the entire fight naked which might be uncomfortable for some
stardust crusaders ova
this gets its own subsection due to being so different that i was having to say "this doesnt apply to the ova" for a lot of the warnings. unlike the main sdc section, since this ova is extremely pared down, there wont be skippable warnings. also note that this is in "manga order", so its 2000 ova then 1993 ova
the english voice actor for avdol (a black/egyptian character) is a white guy doing a vaguely "ethnic" accent
the non-consensual kissing thing above, here its with a girl jotaros age though
infection
suffocation
ritual sacrifice (used as the intro animation for the 1993 portion)
drowning
part 4: diamond is unbreakable
rape, pedophilia, and kidnapping mentions
physical abuse
electrocution
blackmail
yandere trope -emotional abuse -isolation -stalking -kidnapping
restricted eating
skin picking
(anime only) jumpscare
invasion of privacy (skip this part if this bothers you because one of the main allies power is just, doing this, and its constant)
"child acting like a pervert" trope
bodysnatching/"person gets replaced" trope
theres an uncomfortable scene where a child gets attacked in the bath (non-sexually). both the child and the attacker are naked for the duration of the scene
part 5: vento aureo/golden wind
gang violence/the mafia (main crux of the plot)
bullying
(anime only) racism toward japanese people
reckless driving
torture
rape (not shown just heavily implied)
terminal illness/infection/disease
(anime only) pedophilia
forced childbirth (its like, magical childbirth and the mother doesnt register it)
possibly offensive depiction of systems (systems, feel free to correct me on this)
medical malpractice
a guy gets swapped into a girls body and gropes it
part 6: stone ocean
(anime only) heavy use of chromatic aberration, which may be eye straining for some
this part is really horny, comparatively speaking. this isnt really a bad thing but depending on your level of comfort with that you may want to skip
(manga only) misgendering a trans man
hallucinations
memory loss
abuse of religious authority
(manga only, only in some translations) homophobic slur
grooming
gang violence
"disposable sex worker" trope
creepy stalker-ish behavior (the person who does it becomes a main ally & never stops or eases up)
cult
drowning
electrocution
unintentional incest
the kkk (in the anime its a generic racist mob) -lynching
part 7: steel ball run
possibly offensive depiction of native americans (feel free to correct me if youre native)
a 14 year old girl: -is a child bride and im pretty sure this isnt condemned at all -gets hit on by adults -experiences a rape attempt? -gets pregnant?
the entire plot is about curing a disability
medical malpractice
capital punishment
(only in some translations) r slur variant
homophobic slur
attempted pedophilia/rape?
"bisexual sex pest" trope (grown woman making advances toward a minor/trying to rape her)?
part 8: jojolion
ableism?
rape?
part 9: the jojolands
"unsettling gender reveal" trope
pedophilia

Japan as an age regressor
•When regressed, Japan becomes even more quiet and reserved than usual. He prefers calm and peaceful activities like drawing, reading, and watching anime
•Kiku finds comfort in traditional Japanese items, such as plushies shaped like maneki-neko (lucky cats), origami, and yukatas. He often snuggles with his favorite plushie when feeling vulnerable
•He loves to create small, cozy forts or hideaways where he can feel safe. He fills them with soft blankets, pillows, and his favorite books or manga
•He enjoys simple, comforting foods like onigiri, miso soup, and dango. These familiar tastes help him feel secure
•Japan finds peace in nature. When regressed, he likes to take gentle walks in gardens or sit under cherry blossom trees, finding solace in the beauty around him
Germany as a Caregiver
•Germany maintains a structured routine for Japan, knowing that consistency helps him feel secure. He makes sure that meals, naps, and playtime happen at regular intervals
•Ludwig is very protective of Kiku, ensuring that he feels safe at all times. He is always there to offer a comforting hug or words of reassurance when Japan feels anxious
•Germany engages Japan in activities that are both educational and fun, such as building model kits, drawing, and simple cooking tasks. He encourages Japan to express his creativity and skills
•Germany is incredibly patient with Japan, understanding his need for quiet and gentle interactions. He never forces Japan to speak or act if he's not ready, always giving him the time he needs
•Germany includes light physical activities in their routine, such as stretching exercises or short walks. He knows the importance of staying active for both physical and mental well-being !
•Cultural Exchange : Papa Ludwig introduces Kiku to some of his own childhood favorites, like German fairy tales and traditional toys. This exchange helps deepen their bond and allows Japan to experience new forms of comfort and joy
Together
•Reading Time : Germany reads Japanese fairy tales to Japan before bed, using a calm and soothing voice. Japan listens attentively, feeling safe and cherished
•Art Sessions : They have regular art sessions where Japan draws his favorite characters or scenes, while Germany offers gentle encouragement and praise
