Today, January 6th 2024, is the perfect day to make purchases at Overstock.com AND then donate to organizations supporting the unarmed Americans who were waved into the Capitol, unnecessarily pepper sprayed, unnecessarily shot with rubber bullets & smoke bombed to create the illusion of a Capitol Hill riot.
Christmas Miracle: Patrick Byrne, Overstock CEO, offers matching $500,000 donation to January 6 Legal Defense. $250,00 via GIVE SEND GO and $250,000 to Stand In The Gap.

Stand in the Gap
Stand in the Gap is a non-profit foundation dedicated to advocating for change in re-entry, family services, and justice reform. We believe in second chances, providing support to individuals transitioning back into society, and working towards a more equitable and compassionate world. Through our programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need and promote systemic change.
Join us in standing for justice and being a voice for the voiceless.
Our Story
On January 6, 2021, a historic day unfolded in our nation's capital that will be etched in history. As the foundation of our nation was put to the test, many individuals heeded the call to stand up for their rights, their future, and their beliefs. However, the aftermath saw the government taking action against them, leading to a series of events that unveiled the deep-seated issues within the American justice system.
Before January 6th, many were unaware of just how broken the justice system in America truly was. The January 6th defendants and their advocates soon realized that this injustice had persisted for far too long.
In September of 2021, The Real J6 was founded with a mission to give a voice to the voiceless. Its primary focus was to shine a light on the treatment of January 6th defendants at the hands of their own government. However, as the organization delved deeper into this mission, it became clear that there were numerous unmet needs for the defendants and their families. This realization led to the creation of Stand in the Gap.
Shane Jenkins, the co-founder of Stand in the Gap, possesses a unique perspective on the challenges within the incarceration system and the broken nature of the justice system. His life story, marked by several run-ins with the law prior to January 6th, is one of transformation and redemption. Raised in a religious environment and attending Episcopalian school, Shane's life took a different path due to personal struggles and feelings of abandonment stemming from his adoption and an abusive stepfather. In 2016, while incarcerated and at a low point in his life, Shane had a transformative encounter with CHARM – Christ's Hope And Reconciliation Ministries. Through CHARM, he found faith and redemption, and his life took a new direction.
Paroled in July 2018, Shane transitioned to a CHARM Prison Ministries transitional house and dedicated himself to a life of faith and service. He became involved in prison ministry, took on leadership roles, and found a supportive community at church. Despite his personal transformation, in 2021, Shane once again found himself facing government action. Since then, he has been incarcerated, ministering to others within the system and working to bring about positive change.
Through the efforts of many individuals including The Real J6, significant improvements have been achieved within the DC Department of Corrections, including changes in visitation policies, COVID restrictions, guard behavior, and even Congressional intervention. Shane's unique perspective and experience are foundational to the mission of Stand in the Gap, as it strives to address the systemic issues within the justice system and provide support to those who have been affected by it.

Donald Trump's botched handling of the pandemic emergency spread COVID-19 throughout the United States. Perhaps memory loss is an unexpected side effect of Long COVID.
It's up to all of us personally to remind people of the horrors of the Trump administration. Don't rely on the media and political ads to do so.
Those who blame Biden for the chaos at the end of US involvement in Afghanistan conveniently leave out the fact that the Trump administration effectively handed over the country to the Taliban.
Tumblr media
Senate Republicans, before they became full-time concubines of Trump, were alarmed by the timetable. This is from FactCheck.org
Tumblr media
^^^ Li'l Marco should hope that nobody reminds Trump how critical he was of The Orange One's Afghanistan withdrawal.
Biden inherited a flawed deal from Trump. At the time Trump left the White House, US troop levels in Afghanistan were down to 2,500 as 5,000 Taliban prisoners were being released.
Of course not many people in the US were paying a lot of attention to Afghanistan in the immediate aftermath of Trump's January 6th coup attempt.

Hypothetically what do you think would have happened if the january 6 rioters had gotten to pence or pelosi before they got safe?
At this point, I almost dread answering questions like this anymore because I know the kind of hate mail it will unleash for the next few days, but it's important to keep talking about what happened on January 6, 2021 since so many people are trying to normalize it. That includes many people whose lives were in danger that day, as well as the former President who tried to hold on to power by encouraging his supporters to launch a violent insurrection and is now referring to those who have been brought to justice for attempting a coup as "patriots" and "hostages".
I genuinely believe that there were people in that crowd who would have killed Vice President Pence, Speaker Pelosi, and certain Congressional leaders if they had reached them on January 6th. I think there are people in that crowd who were ready to hold lawmakers hostage. Why else did they have handcuffs and zip ties? To help the Capitol Police maintain order? (Oh yeah...that's right, thanks for reminding me: they violently attacked the police -- some even beat police officers with the "Blue Lives Matter" flags that they brought with them.) Now, I do not think that everybody who was at the Capitol on January 6th -- or even the majority of those who took part in the insurrection -- were willing to go that far. I think a lot of them got swept up in what was happening and went with the flow. That doesn't excuse what they did. The flow that they got swept up in was still a fucking insurrection, and anyone who took part in that deserves to be held accountable. But I think there were certain elements embedded throughout that crowd that were much more organized and prepared to fully execute their plans for a coup after disrupting the certification of the Electoral College votes.
I actually think Vice President Pence was probably in more danger than even Speaker Pelosi or some of the Democratic leaders because Trump was so actively calling him out in the days and hours before the insurrection. I think that's why Pence is so adamant now about not supporting Trump. I mean, think about how disgustingly loyal and subservient Pence was to Trump throughout those four years until basically the first few days of January 2021. But even as other Republican leaders are crumbling and offering their allegiance to Trump again in 2024, Pence is standing by his decision not to endorse or support Trump, and I think that's because he realizes that Trump absolutely almost got him (and his family, who were with him in the Capitol on that day) killed on January 6th. Shit, even Mitch McConnell has folded and endorsed Trump again despite the fact that Trump has spent the last three years not only insulting him but also making racist attacks and questioning McConnell's wife's loyalty to the United States all because Elaine Chao had the audacity to resign from Trump's Cabinet in the wake of the insurrection. Yet Mike Pence -- who spent the better part of four years following Trump around like Paul Heyman follows Roman Reigns...
Tumblr media
...THAT same Mike Pence is steadfastly refusing to endorse Trump because he has personal experience about how real of an existential threat Trump is. Some of those people at the Capitol were very serious about following through on their chants to "Hang Mike Pence", and not only does Pence realize that, but he also knows now that Trump -- who refused to take actions that would have helped clear the Capitol more quickly -- said "he deserves it" when hearing about those chants.
That's what is so scary about the insurrection, its aftermath, and the Trump Republican Party's redefinition of what happened that day. It almost worked. They stormed the United States Capitol and invaded both chambers of Congress. They carried Confederate flags into the United States Capitol -- even the fucking Confederate States of America didn't successfully invade Washington, D.C. and plant their flag in the Capitol. They were willing to hurt and probably kill some of America's elected leaders. And the people who helped plan and instigate the events of January 6th have spent the three-plus years since then learning from their mistakes and figuring out how to be successful next time. And guess what? "Next time" is only a few months away.

Tumblr conservatives have invented a creative new way to win debates. They simply don't debate you.
I've had shitloads of debates on this website over the years. Almost every single one was frustrating, due to multiple factors. The one factor that usually stayed consistent is that my opponent would at least argue something. Doesn't matter if they were right or wrong; Even if their argument was complete and utter nonsense, they at least attempted to make one.
Since the insurrection on January 6th, 2021 and the aftermath revealing Donald Trump's fake electors plot, I've noticed a shift in conservatives on tumblr. They often don't make an argument anymore.
What conservatives do now is circulate narratives. You can try to debate them on these narratives, but it ultimately does nothing. The facts don't matter at all. They have headlines that confirm what they want to be told and they have years of experience with evil leftists online that completely cement their bias forever.
What you will find is that now you're evil. Now you're bad faith. You're not worth being debated, because you're a liberal or you're a leftist and you're not to be trusted. If you include even the smallest insult, it's somehow seen as duplicitous.
Nevermind the endless bigotry at the heart of their belief system which leads them to endlessly mock people based on circumstances outside of their control. Never mind the fact that even if you are a cishet white man that is on the same footing as them in life, you'll still be insulted just based on your beliefs. They have no standards but double-standards. Remember the old saying?
"If feminists didn't have double-standards, they'd have no standards at all."
But let's look back at multiple of those.
"Feminists can't interact with any kind of media without bringing their politics into it."
"Feminists want everything to be censored."
"Feminists make politics their whole personality."
"Feminists are constantly triggered by mundane things and basic facts."
Maybe most damning:
"Feminists refuse to debate me."
It's time to face facts. The right became exactly what they hated the most. They hold liberals to normal standards, but conservatives to none. Every single movie, show, or game is now woke if it includes anything outside of a straight white man as the focus of the game. They want all LGBT messages censored from media and branding. Everything is about being MAGA, even outside of the USA. They will lose their shit over any talk of climate change, psychology, vaccines, etc.
They no longer actually debate you, because they can't. They've been proven wrong long ago. It's over. They haven't had facts on their side for years. They've had to leave reality and form an internet bubble of alternative facts. Although, let's face it, they didn't actually form that bubble. Russia did. And they did it to destroy the USA and the west as a whole, but that's a different discussion.
If you have conservative friends, be kind. They're brainwashed. They most likely feel strongly that they are serving a higher purpose by doing what they're doing. They can't actually perceive that they're wrong because they've lost the ability to discern fact from fiction. They may snap out of it eventually if they learn to hold any actual standard long enough. That should be our goal. Make them hold pretty much ANY standard whatsoever.
Rant over.

Holy shit, I can’t stop laughing. Like, on the one hand it IS funny af, but on the other hand, Republicans are chaos agents, and as January 6th and the aftermath has very clearly shown — they would gladly burn the entire country down to the ground if it meant a chance to hurt anyone who wasn’t a wealthy, cis/het, straight white Christian male.
And before anyone blames Democrats for not saving McCarthy, please remember this: McCarthy was in the process of cutting a deal with members of the extreme rightwing Freedom Caucus — to empower the far-right, and give them even more authority on key House committees, and more clout over social & military policy decisions. And after repeatedly stabbing Democrats in the back, and going back on his agreements because it angered the far-right, he wanted their help all in return for nothing?
Look, I have no idea who tf will replace him as House Speaker, but I dO know that whoever it ends up being, the GOP was on their way there already. Look at the Republicans who are angered, and who are defending McCarthy.
Tumblr media
Can you imagine having the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene heading the Judicial Committee, or the House Ways and Means Committee? It was going to shit no matter what Democrats did, so they may as well have stood aside while the GOP self-destructed.
Unfortunately, it’s the entire country that will pay for Republicans — and not just “MAGA Republicans,” it’s all of them; there are no “good” Republicans — who are incapable of governing, or who do not want to govern.

Matt Gertz at MMFA:
Fox News stars have spent the months since President Donald Trump’s election assuring their audiences that Trump’s long-stated promise to pardon what he termed the “J6 hostages” would be limited only to nonviolent offenders who participated in storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. But on his first day in office, Trump pardoned or commuted to time served every person convicted in connection to their actions that day, including those who violently assaulted law enforcement and participated in seditious conspiracies.
Trump’s Tuesday night grant of clemency “to all of the nearly 1,600 people charged in connection with the attack” includes pardons for “for violent offenders who went after the police on Jan. 6 with baseball bats, two-by-fours and bear spray and are serving prison terms, in some cases of more than a decade,” The New York Times noted. He also pardoned or commuted the sentences of several leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers who had been convicted of seditious conspiracy.  This is precisely what Fox hosts and loyal Trump propagandists Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters explicitly said should not happen. Numerous Fox personalities condemned the Trumpist violence at the Capitol in its immediate aftermath and called for the perpetrators to face consequences, even as they avoided assigning Trump culpability for encouraging the mob to come to D.C. and inciting it with lies about the 2020 election being stolen from him.
“Those who truly support President Trump … we do not support those that commit acts of violence,” Hannity said on his show that night, adding that people should not “be vandalizing our nation's Capitol, attacking the brave men and women that keep us safe in law enforcement,” and concluding that “all of today's perpetrators must be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” “I want to speak to the people that think it wasn't that big of a deal,” Watters said on The Five the next day. “Yes, you’re allowed, as a member of the public, to go into the people's house, but you have to go through the front door and you have to pass through a metal detector. You can't smash windows, spray police with chemical agents, assault police officers, loot, and vandalize.” Over time, as Trumpists led by former Fox host Tucker Carlson challenged the initial consensus around the events of January 6 with a conspiratorial counternarrative that the rioters had been victims, the right came to excuse or downplay their crimes. But as Trump floated pardons for January 6 convicts, Hannity and Watters continued to maintain that violent offenders would not and should not receive clemency.
Key Fox hosts such as Jesse Watters and Sean Hannity (and even VP JD Vance) told their viewers that Donald Trump should NOT pardon violent January 6th Insurrections. Trump did it anyway.

I received the final volume of Noragami in the mail yesterday & read through it so I wanted to do a proper post but I was too tired yesterday to manage so I'm writing it today.
I'm so grateful for Noragami being in my life for the past 10 years (almost to the day--as I know I watched the first season in December of 2014). I have always always been interested in Shinto... I wrote a paper about it in my Asian Film Studies class (regarding it's influence on works from Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli) and I also did a few presentations about a few elements in my Japanese classes.
So to find a story where Shinto is very clearly the main theme but also heavily deals with abuse in it's many forms (child abuse, emotional abuse, abuse from a parent regardless of age) is something that struck so deeply for me. Yato is someone who I have so much in common with... Which is funny to say because you want to be like 'how could I ever have something in common with a god' and yet...
Yukine reminded me immediately of Yahiko from Rurouni Kenshin, a character I always loved for his spunky attitude and his growth through the series [and Yato with Kenshin regarding his history as a god of calamity vs hitokiri battousai]. I can say much the same for same for Yukine. My connection to Yahiko and Rurouni Kenshin has been soiled by the mangaka unfortunately, but I'm so thankful I found a series that moved me even more. The aftermath of Yukine's ablution (read: Hiyori's relief & hugging both of the boys) brought me to tears and ultimately is what made me *need* to read the manga immediately upon completion of the anime.
Hiyori is... everything good about this world. I don't know how else to say it. She is an icon, everything we should all strive to be. She's constantly true to herself and does everything within her power to help the ones she loves (whether they are 'alive' or not).
I'll stop here for now but just a reminder to everyone that @memoriesofnoragami is a week dedicated to reflecting upon our amazing times with Noragami, coming up January 6th through the 12th!

recounting the jan 6th riot 11/08/24
hello beautiful friends, as someone who is fed up and insanely disappointed about the election results i want us to remember what occurred on january 6th.
when and where? on january 6th 2021:
at around 12PM Donald Trump began to speak to his supporters near the White House.
at 1PM the outer police barrier was broken into.
"We're going to the Capitol," he says. "We're going to try and give them [Republicans] the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country."
3. around 2PM protestors have now broken windows and entered the capital.
4. between 3PM-4PM the protestors are banging on doors, destroying property, and have broken into the chamber.
5. Donald Trump finally addresses his 'fans' in a tweet.
reference:
https://www.npr.org/2022/01/05/1069977469/a-timeline-of-how-the-jan-6-attack-unfolded-including-who-said-what-and-when
aftermath?
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/36-months-jan-6-attack-capitol-0
here are statistics regarding the criminal charges and aftermath of the riot and with Trump back in office he stated (not accurate if he will or won't) that he would pardon those who took part in this act.
on a more psychological account the riot not only created a rift between the republican party itself but as a viewer it not only shocked me but it affects many, many more. here is one of many articles addressing the psychological affect of the riot:
https://nationalpress.org/topic/january-6-capitol-police-trauma-suicide-howard-liebengood-harry-dunn/#:~:text=They%20are%20at%20increased%20risk,over%20the%20past%20few%20years.%E2%80%9D
overall, i am very upset about the results of this election but i think we will be okay, we just need to find our communities and help each other. understand that there is always someone else out there that understands your anxiety, understands your fears, and can validate your emotions.
let me know if there is anything you would like me to talk about more in depth, i am still learning as well so please feel free to comment or shoot me a message regarding anything.
always here! <3

Trump Boasts That His Failed Coup Killed Way More People Than South Korea’s
Tumblr media
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In light of the recent declaration of martial law in South Korea, President-elect Donald Trump would take the time to publicly condemn President Yoon Suk Yeol’s blatant power grab, bragging that his failed coup on January, 6th killed way more people than Yeol’s, who’s martial law declaration is currently reporting zero deaths.
“Those Koreans are just a bunch of weak little commies, I tell ya,” Trump would say during a GOP event just after finding out about the coup attempt. “Their government has no control over their own country, folks. They tried to make a big show about wiping out the political opposition, but they failed miserably. There were no deaths, and barely any chaos. My coup attempt, on the other hand, killed way more people. Way more. Everyone’s saying it.”
Trump would also use South Korea’s failed coup as an opportunity to boast about his own power. “This type of thing would never happen in America with me as your President,” Trump continued. “We’re gonna bring out the big guns, and nobody will be safe. The radical left, journalists, my ex lovers. All of them will be counting their days. When my supporters rushed the Capitol, they showed us what this country is truly capable of. Nobody does insurrections like America. We’re truly the best at everything!”
When a reporter pointed out that comparing fatalities caused by world leaders might not be in the best taste, Trump would double down. “Taste? I’ve got the best taste!” He retorted. “The best gold toilets, the best branded steaks, the best coups — nobody even comes close! And look, I’m not saying that deaths are good, okay? But if you’re gonna perform a coup, then you’re gonna wanna do it right. You want the numbers, you want the headlines. When I did my coup, even though it failed, I still did right. I delivered the highest ratings in the whole entire world. As for South Korea, they’re barely even trending on Truth Social!”
South Korean officials have yet to respond to Trump’s comments and are expected not to do so for quite some time as they deal with the aftermath of this coup attempt. Trump, however, saw this as “proof” of their apparent weakness. “See? They ain’t nothing but a bunch of pussies,” Trump concluded. “They think they’re so strong and tough within their own country, but the second the next leader of the greatest country on planet earth challenges them, then all of a sudden they go quiet.”

Tumblr media
OK, HELLO WORLD...
For most of my adult life, I worked as a journalist in this country and credibly, factually, told the public thousands of stories at the Detroit News, New York Daily News and as head writer for a TV show on ESPN. None of the stories I have ever written is more important than the one I am writing now.
If you will indulge me a lack of brevity this one time, I will explain.
It begins with the three times I realized that the safety and security we so prize here in the United States of America is an illusion. It's not and never was true. It doesn't exist. We only believed it did.
The first time I realized it was in the aftermath of 9/11. After I witnessed the World Trade Center towers crumble before my eyes little more than a mile from my New York City apartment, authorities posted police with automatic weapons and huge American flags at the entrance to every bridge and tunnel in the city.
We felt safe seeing those images, but each time I ventured through those tunnels and over those bridges, I had a question:
"What's stopping that truck in front of me from being laden down with fertilizer and explosives? Who knows what's in the trunk of every car in front and back of me?"
We weren't safe at all. Terrorists just didn't decide to blow us all to hell.
The second time I realized there is no such thing as safety and security came when Donald Trump promised building a wall at the Southern border to keep illegals out.
I thought, "Mexicans are renowned for building tunnels from Mexico directly to homes on the U.S. side in Texas and California to smuggle in people and drugs. How can a wall prevent that?"
A wall could not make us safe at all. We only believed it could.
The third time I realized safety and security is an illusion was on January 6th, 2021, when Donald Trump's MAGA supporters overran the United States Capitol - the seat of power of the US government - injuring law enforcement officers and defacing the offices of cowering, terrified duly elected lawmakers.
The ease with which they penetrated our most sacred symbols of the rule of law and order in America showed me that if this could be done by only a few thousand mostly-unarmed citizens, there really is no such thing as safety and security in this country.
We only believed there was.
The final time I realized there is no safety and security in the United States of America has come in the last three weeks, or rather, since Donald Trump returned to The White House.
Under the guise of weeding out corruption and with South African-born Elon Musk as the tip of the spear, Donald Trump and his Republican confederates have turned every facet of American government upside down, installed inexperienced and unqualified loyalists in positions of power in every sector of government and thrown thousands of hard-working Americans - many of whom voted for him - out into the streets.
While stunned, outnumbered Democrats were frozen to inaction, Trump, through executive order, made laws, changed laws and ignored orders from courts to stop in his tracks.
While those of us who opposed him screamed that his actions and those of Elon Musk were tantamount to creating a fascist government and a dictatorship, we were only partially right.
See, people, Trump's dictatorship has already begun. It is HERE. It is NOW.
For those who don't believe this is true, what we all missed while focusing on the flood of executive orders and bizarre musings of taking over the Gaza Strip, annexing Canada as the 51st state against their will, purchasing Greenland to rename it Red, White and Blueland and taking over the Panama Canal is this:
Trump was merely testing the waters to see how much power and authority he truly had. The final step in his plan will be to ignore any and all court challenges aimed at stopping him.
What should be clear to you now is that there was really only one barrier to Donald Trump taking over this country and remaking it in his image:
The fact that the only thing that has kept our democracy in place since it was written in 1787 is a piece of paper called the U.S. constitution.
That constitution only works if our politicians RESPECT the power within, the rule of law.
Donald Trump clearly does not respect the constitution as have all other United States presidents before him.
Worse, without respect for the constitution and our laws, THERE IS NO AUTHORITY LEFT TO STOP HIM.
There is no police force who can rein Trump in.
There is no military to rein Trump in.
There are no lawmakers or judges to rein Trump in.
And soon, as Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayer declared recently during a speech at Miami Dade College, Donald Trump will refuse to comply with all orders of the court - and his takeover will be complete - for there is no authority remaining to police him.
Like Sotomayer, the American Bar Association just released a statement declaring that, “Trump is not following the rule of law.”
Now, the reason why the ABA sounds like a kid screaming, “Charlie hit me!” is because they’ve reached the conclusion that there is nothing they can do about Trump not following the rule of law. This has never happened before in the history of this country, but it IS happening now.
Hey, America, hey World, you can call it a monarchy, or fascism or a totalitarian government or a dictatorship, but whatever you call it, Donald Trump and Elon Musk are the law of the land now.
Don't believe me?
The 1,500 January 6th rioters who were tried and convicted in federal courts?
Trump freed them. On Day 1.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was brought up on corruption charges after a decade-long investigation?
He cozied up to Trump, who ordered his Department of Justice to drop the charges.
If that's not enough, I think Donald Trump has one more trick up his sleeve, as I predict he is being lobbied at this very moment to grant clemency to an old friend who has been accused of pedophilia, drugging and raping male and female victims, physically assaulting others and possibly sanctioning numerous murders over the past 30 years.
So what, pray tell, will you say when Donald Trump pardons Sean Diddy Combs?
The lyrics to that song you sang in grade school has changed, folks:
This land is NOT your land.
This land is NOT my land.
NOT from California.
NOT to the New York Islands.
NOT from the Redwood Forest
NOR to the Gulf of America waters
This land belongs to Trump and E.
In less than a month back in office, all of the checks and balances have been removed. Republicans control the house and the senate. Every cabinet pick Trump proposes will be confirmed. No decision he makes, whether it's instructing the Treasury Department to stop making the penny or bringing back the plastic straw, is being denied.
While his supporters cheer his every move, they have yet to see the cost cuts Elon Musk and his team of hackers make under cover of darkness are hurting American farmers, American workers and those in the poorest red states in the country who voted for him.
For them, and us, it's already too late to realize it's too late.
If you saw Musk recently in the oval office with his young son holding court while Trump sat idly by, you should have realized the richest man in the world controls the supposed most powerful man in the world.
Only Elon Musk is holding Elon Musk accountable and Trump - who is likely paying Musk back for whatever he did to help him take the 2024 election - is allowing it to happen.
As you read these words, it is likely that Elon Musk has already had his hackers place back doors into every major computer system across the US government, which gives him the power to shut down any program he chooses at any time on an app while sitting in the driver's seat of his Tesla.
For those in the back or in the nosebleed section or under a rock, let me say it again:
Elon Musk and Donald Trump are the law of the land. Today. Right now.
The United States of America is no longer a democracy. We are now a dictatorship.
In closing, let me say that I don't believe in presenting problems without offering solutions. There IS something we can do to fight this takeover and resist this bloodless coup that has stripped away the sense of freedom we have known all of our lives - but it will require of us a resolve and action most of us have never known or shown.
It will require us to unite, fight, stand up, risk our lives and our liberty - because one thing dictators have never fully understood is that THE PEOPLE truly are the power.
Think of it this way: if we don't want the price of an automobile in America to be $50,000, well, if nobody buys those cars, there won't be a $50,000 car in America.
With that in mind, should Elon Musk and Donald Trump try to dump hundreds of thousands of federal employees out into the streets, simply refuse to leave. If forced from your offices, show up to work en masse the next day - and every day after - and make sure NOBODY goes into those offices.
If Trump's new Department of Defense head Pete Hegseth makes a demand of the 3.5 million workers he now oversees, what can he possibly do if they disobey in the name of American democracy?
The same goes for new national security director Tulsi Gabbard, who has never worked in security or run a department of ANY kind. The same goes for new secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, new Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. - or any other Trump appointee.
None of these figureheads - not even Trump himself - can do anything without our complicity.
Lastly, this battle is only just beginning. You must protect your physical and mental well-being.
You don't have the time or energy to fight meaningless squabbles on social media against Trump's MAGA sycophants who believe every narrative they sell.
No matter if they are friends or family or casual acquaintances on social media, SILENCE THEIR VOICES and influence. Block, snooze, delete or ignore them.
For me, the purge begins TODAY! I’d love to tell the people going away that it isn’t personal, but their blind belief system is a direct threat to me, my friends, family, neighbors, fellow Americans, Canadians, Palestinians, and, well, you get the picture.
Trust what your eyes and ears are telling you. Hope that they will catch up and join our fight against this power virus threatening our country and the world.
Lastly, remember the words of philosopher Bertrand Russell, who said roughly this of how fascism begins:
"First they fascinate the fools. Then they muzzle the intelligent."
If you've gotten this far, it's because you're not a fool.
We got here because all of our lives we believed in that concept devised by our founding fathers of "We The People."
Well, the only way out from under the megalomania of Donald Trump, Elon Musk and their collaborators is to make every day January 6th.
If you feel so moved, please share my post. If not, please act in some way. We need all hands on deck.
If we want our democracy back, starting today, starting now, we must BE THE PEOPLE

DEADLINE: How did you approach Donald Trump‘s story given that he has been profiled in The Choice twice before? [Filmmaker Michael] KIRK: Everything changed. We have made about eight films about Trump over the course of his presidency. We always had a kind of vector in based on what we’ve done in the 2016 Choice, where we first heard about his father’s kind of eugenic perspective of winners and losers. In this case, after January 6th, the way we watched Trump changed because winners and losers became something else. The emphasis on, ‘I will not lose this election in 2020,’ and the extent to which he did what he did, and the aftermath of that, started to kind of animate how we would view him, how we would tell the winners and losers story. We reemphasized it, went back to the relationship with his brother Freddie. We sort of tracked along his life with a whole new perspective and emphasis on winning and losing — the the building of Trump Tower on the one hand, and on the other hand the failed marriages, the bankruptcies, The Apprentice rise, all the problems that then follow… They are all efforts, we came to believe, to avoid losing, to avoid being the label the loser, and the extent to which Trump does what he does, and goes where he goes in the face of that fear, took on paramount importance from our point of view.
(full article)
The Choice debuts this evening (September 24, 2024, 9pm EDT) on PBS stations and streaming platforms. The VP Choice: Vance vs. Walz premieres on Oct. 8.

There’s a special kind of madness in America these days—a high-octane, batshit insanity powered by MAGA hats, grievance, and cheap vodka. And at the epicenter of this lunacy, like a lightning rod attracting the worst our country has to offer, stands Michael Fanone, the former cop who dared to call Donald Trump an authoritarian to his face. For his trouble, Fanone was beaten nearly to death with a flagpole on January 6, 2021, only to watch as Trump’s cultists were welcomed back into polite society with open arms, presidential pardons, and the smug satisfaction of knowing their crimes had been wiped clean by the stroke of a pen.
This is no ordinary story of political dysfunction. No, this is an obscene carnival of cowardice, starring a former president who should be pacing around a cell but instead plays golf and whines on Truth Social. The aftermath of January 6th has turned into a grotesque sitcom with a laugh track straight out of hell. And Fanone? He’s the guy left holding the flaming bag of shit—literally.
Before we get to the pardons, let’s talk about Fanone’s mom. A 78-year-old woman minding her own business in Virginia became the target of a campaign of terror so vile it would make your stomach turn. First, some jackass decided to swat her house. For those unfamiliar, swatting is when some anonymous coward calls the cops and pretends there’s an active shooter, sending armed officers to storm the home of some unsuspecting victim. In this case, the victim was an elderly woman whose only crime was giving birth to a man who helped fight off a mob of Trump’s supporters.
But the lunatics weren’t done. Someone else threw a brick at the window of her home. Then, while she was raking leaves in her front yard, another gutless wonder drove by and chucked a bag of excrement at her. A bag of excrement. Let that sink in. Somewhere out there, a person woke up one morning, decided to take a dump, put it in a bag, and hurl it at an old lady. If there’s a clearer metaphor for the state of Trumpism, I’ve yet to see it.
But the real obscenity, the pièce de résistance of this farce, is Trump’s pardons. One by one, the cretins who beat Fanone and other officers senseless were granted get-out-of-jail-free cards, courtesy of the man who incited the riot in the first place. You’d think the assault of a police officer would be a red line even for Trump’s base, but no—these people weren’t just forgiven; they were celebrated. Heroes of the “patriot” movement. Martyrs to the cause of Make America Great Again.
Legally, those pardons mean Fanone and the other officers are no longer considered victims of crimes committed on January 6th. Think about that. The man was dragged into a mob, beaten unconscious, and suffered a heart attack while defending democracy—and now, thanks to Trump, the perpetrators’ crimes technically never happened. As if the blood spilled that day could just be swept under the rug like some embarrassing accident at a Fourth of July barbecue.
Fanone can’t even get a restraining order against the people who assaulted him. Why? Because under the law, they’re no longer criminals. A restraining order requires evidence of ongoing harassment or threats, and thanks to Trump’s golden ticket of clemency, these goons can walk around with their heads held high, free to harass, intimidate, or worse, without any consequence.
Oh, and if Fanone wanted to file a restraining order, he’d need their addresses, which are conveniently protected. So he’s stuck in a Kafkaesque nightmare where the system that should protect him has been gutted, leaving him exposed to the whims of the very people who tried to kill him.
The real tragedy here isn’t just what happened to Fanone or his mother. It’s what the pardons signify: the triumph of cruelty as a political weapon. Trump has turned victimhood into a brand and grievance into a business model. His pardons are less about mercy and more about sticking it to his enemies. By erasing the crimes of January 6th, he sends a message: “If you’re loyal to me, you can do whatever the hell you want.”
The consequences of this are staggering. It’s not just about Fanone or the other officers who were attacked—it’s about the collapse of accountability. We’re living in a country where the law bends to the whims of a man who treats the presidency like his personal revenge fantasy.
Michael Fanone is a hero, but he’s also a man fighting a losing battle against a system that has failed him at every turn. His mother, an innocent bystander, has been dragged into the fray, humiliated and harassed by people too cowardly to face him directly. And the man who made all this possible is golfing in Florida, grinning like a Cheshire cat while his pardoned goons roam free.
This isn’t just a story about political dysfunction. It’s a goddamn horror show—a cautionary tale about what happens when cruelty and cowardice become virtues, and the people who stand up for what’s right are left to fend for themselves in a country that’s lost its soul.
