So I get why My Lady Jane simplified the Dudley family - cos there were a lot of siblings irl. But I also would love to see their take on a Robert Dudley and Bess romance.
I'm just saying I wouldn't be mad if they introduced Roberta Dudley next series...

Since the RWS and early TVS depict coaches as sentient, even the faceless ones, are the coaches, including Emily's coaches, sentient in this universe? If so, what are their names and personalities and what do they think of one another (for example, what do Emily's coaches think of Annie and Clarabelle?)?
Hello 👋
Yes, a majority of the coaches are sentient, non-faceless coaches are more common on the narrow gauges railways like with Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handel/Falcon, Andreas (a few being faceless like with the miniature gauge lines there’s still some with faces along with trucks but it’s not as common as other gauges)
As for Emily’s coaches, they are sentient and have their own personalities and names (I’m torn between Elodie, Elliot, and Elwyn or Morgan, Martha and Martin/Marvin for their names) they get along swell with Annie and Clarabel plus the other coaches though two of them, (I’m not sure which names cause I’m still thinking but it was the guy and the girl of the group) had a bit of negative attitude towards the other coaches, thinking of themselves as superior and were quite a terrible influence, I’ve based it off a fanfiction I’ve on DA where it was during Emily’s HiT era persona and it rubs off of them though I’m changing it a lot)
Over all they along quite splendidly like with Dexter the mobile school coach despite him being an oddball (sure it’s the classic case of them thinking he’s strange but have come around to accept it) I’ve even made some coaches oc for certain characters as well (names are still a WiP though pfft-)
Thank you for the ask 🤩😊

This is a pillow that was sewn by one of my relatives in, guess when, 1921. Along with it being beautiful and having a delightfully bloblike cat on it, I wanted to share it because it has a strong LM Montgomery vibe. I could imagine Valancy whiling away a winter's night working on this, or Anne taking it with her to Redmond, Jane rescuing it from the depths of a closet, or Emily wandering through the Disappointed House looking for the right place for it.
You may notice I've edited it somewhat; I removed my relative's initials, which are stitched under that top arch shape. In person, the colors aren't quite so distinct -- it's very velvety and shimmery, but brightened up by all the stitching. And of course the regal cat.

The New Centurions (1972)
"You're just having a wonderful time. You like it! You like being a cop."
"Well, of course I like it! It doesn't mean I'm not working my ass off."

"Then you'd better get married to somebody else."

Also… and I have to ask the Austen-girlies here for confirmation. If Emma Woodhouse can inherit her fathers home, why should Michaela be able to the same?
not even a huge bridgerton fan (I watched four episodes of season one and gave up but know a lot because it’s impossible to escape it), but people getting mad that michael was genderbent is so ANNOYING. especially with the garbage excuses of why people are mad about it, which this whole post will be about.
firstly, to say that francesca won’t struggle with infertility is ridiculous. francesca is married, as of right now, to john a man. there’s still a possibility that the writers will make changes so that her and john struggle with it instead. also being in a relationship with someone of the same gender doesn’t mean a person won’t struggle with infertility. infertility is not limited to heterosexual couples; I’ve heard stories of both heterosexual and queer couples struggling to have children
second is the question of how michaela could inherit john’s titles, as michaela is a woman. now I know bridgerton is not historically accurate, but this answer does include some history. for those who don’t know this, in british history, queen charlotte’s granddaughter, victoria, became queen (would take a long time to explain how victoria got the throne, so if you want to know you can read that on your own). queen victoria did NOT become queen because her husband succeeded to the throne as king; victoria earned the title because her father’s older brothers died without having a legitimate heir. so there is a possibility of michaela earning a high title. also going back to something I said already but bridgerton is not historically accurate, which I am sure is obvious by the amount of people of colour in the show with such high titles and being members of the ton.
ANYWAY this is a long winded of saying that people are hating on the show’s decision to genderbend michael, and that I think it’s awesome how francesca and michaela’s love story includes both queer and black representation (and I think both actresses are absolutely stunning).
edit: adding another ridiculous I point I saw someone use was “it feels like they’re diminishing her feelings for john”. you ever hear of bisexuality? also if michael stayed the same you wouldn’t be saying that, how is it suddenly different with francesca being attached to a woman? plus this wouldn’t take away an important part of francesca’s arc in the books (from my understanding of what I’ve heard people say) is that she felt incredibly guilty for having feelings for michael. I personally think it’ll make francesca’s story arc way more interesting due to genderbending her second love interest

But her renowned loveliness didn't stop the love of her life, Evander Eagleman, from jilting her and marrying another woman four years ago. Aphrodite has been in self-imposed exile ever since. However, when her formidable mother summons her back to London Aphrodite has no choice but to acquiesce. Upon her return, Aphrodite learns that the newly widowed Evander is in town and, despite her best efforts, the grand society events of the season repeatedly push them together. With each encounter, Aphrodite's traitorous feelings make it perfectly clear that the Duke still holds court over her heart. Why did Evander cast Aphrodite aside all those years ago, and now that they have a second chance, can the couple make strides to mend past hurts?
Ailsa Connery has waited three long years to finally escape her enslavement at Stirling Castle and reunite with her clan. But her carefully laid plans are completely destroyed by the arrival of the infamous Highland warrior known as Dubh Mahoun, the Black Devil…who has plans of his own. Kallum MacNeill's fearsome reputation has long allowed him to keep hidden his secret double life of freeing enslaved captives across the land. It's only when he kidnaps a servant lass—quite by accident—that he finds himself facing a wee predicament. He must accompany the lass home or risk her exposing his true identity. It'd be easy enough…if the feisty hellion didn't fight him at every turn. As they make their way to the Highlands, the perils the two must face are surpassed only by their constant sparring. Soon, their heated sniping sparks heat of a totally different kind. The kind that ignites a hunger that could consume them both. Yet the difficult journey is no match for the dangerous secrets they're about to uncover.
The first novel in USA Today Bestselling Author Beverly Jenkins’s compelling new series follows a Northern woman south in the chaotic aftermath of the Civil War . . . Valinda Lacy’s mission in the steamy heart of New Orleans is to help the newly emancipated community survive and flourish. But soon she discovers that here, freedom can also mean danger. When thugs destroy the school she has set up and then target her, Valinda runs for her life—and straight into the arms of Captain Drake LeVeq. As an architect from an old New Orleans family, Drake has a deeply personal interest in rebuilding the city. Raised by strong women, he recognizes Valinda’s determination. And he can’t stop admiring—or wanting—her. But when Valinda’s father demands she return home to marry a man she doesn’t love, her daring rebellion draws Drake into an irresistible intrigue.
A fun and feminist Regency romp from a master of the genre hailed as "a delight" by Bridgerton author Julia Quinn. Nothing happens in London without Graham Wynchester knowing. His massive collection of intelligence is invaluable to his family’s mission of aiding those most in need. So when he deciphers a series of coded messages in the scandal sheets, Graham’s convinced he must come to a royal’s rescue. But his quarry turns out not to be a princess at all… The captivating Kunigunde de Heusch is anything but a damsel in distress, and the last thing she wants is Graham’s help. All her life, Kuni trained alongside the fiercest Royal Guardsmen in her family, secretly planning to become her country’s first Royal Guardswoman. This mission in London is a chance to prove herself worthy without help from a man, not even one as devilishly handsome as Graham. To her surprise, Graham believes in her dream as much as she does, which makes it harder to resist kissing him…and falling in love. But how can she risk her heart if her future lies an ocean away?
Jane Austen meets The Princess and the Frog For as long as Prairie can remember, living in paradise has been boring. Her days are filled with helping at her family's resort, sewing, daydreaming, and observing fashionable guests from the sidelines. But when a fairytale-Esque opportunity arises, she does something out of character and agrees to marry a man she's never met. Suddenly, she's navigating a new life that is a world and an ocean away from everything she's ever known. Her new husband, Wright, is decidedly Mr. Wrong. If there's a schedule, he'll ignore it. If there is a rule, he'll break it. If there's a risk, he'll take it. Has the girl who has always had a plan finally met her match? If you're a fan of TV shows like 'Vanity Fair', 'Bridgerton' and 'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' or enjoy reading comedies of manners, you'll love 'That, My Dear, Is Love.' This is a full-length, standalone novel featuring a diverse ensemble cast, whimsical magic, and hilarious misadventures. This is a clean romance with a HEA. Featuring some of your favorite tropes: Marriage of Convenience Opposites Attract Reformed Rake
The Davenports delivers a totally escapist, swoon-worthy romance while offering a glimpse into a period of African American history often overlooked. The Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now it's 1910, and the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to. There is Olivia, the beautiful elder Davenport daughter, ready to do her duty by getting married . . . until she meets the charismatic civil rights leader Washington DeWight and sparks fly. The younger daughter, Helen, is more interested in fixing cars than falling in love—unless it’s with her sister’s suitor. Amy-Rose, the childhood friend turned maid to the Davenport sisters, dreams of opening her own business—and marrying the one man she could never be with, Olivia and Helen’s brother, John. But Olivia’s best friend, Ruby, also has her sights set on John Davenport, though she can’t seem to keep his interest . . . until family pressure has her scheming to win his heart, just as someone else wins hers. Inspired by the real-life story of the Patterson family, The Davenports is the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life—and love.

Montgomery's female characters that were not-exactly-pretty-but-fascinating-and-charming:
Anne Shirley:
"Public opinion never agreed on Anne’s looks. People who had heard her called handsome met her and were disappointed. People who had heard her called plain saw her and wondered where other people’s eyes were. [...] While Anne was not beautiful in any strictly defined sense of the word she possessed a certain evasive charm and distinction of appearance that left beholders with a pleasurable sense of satisfaction in that softly rounded girlhood of hers, with all its strongly felt potentialities." (Anne of Avonlea).
Emily Starr:
"A slender, virginal young thing. Hair like black silk. Purplish-grey eyes, with violet shadows under them [...]; scarlet lips with a Murray-like crease at the corners; ears with Puckish, slightly pointed tips. [...] An exquisite line of chin and neck; a smile with a trick in it; such a slow-blossoming thing with a sudden radiance of fulfilment. And ankles that scandalous old Aunt Nancy Priest of Priest Pond commended. [...] With all this—pretty? I cannot tell you. Emily was never mentioned when Blair Water beauties were being tabulated. But no one who looked upon her face ever forgot it." (Emily's Quest).
Valancy Stirling:
"Valancy was still leaning forward. Her little hat with its crimson rose was tilted down over one eye. Olive stared. In the moonlight Valancy’s eyes—Valancy’s smile—what had happened to Valancy! She looked—not pretty—Doss couldn’t be pretty—but provocative, fascinating—yes, abominably so." (The Blue Castle).
Pat Gardiner:
"Somehow people seldom wondered whether Pat Gardiner was pretty or not...she was so vital, so wholesome, so joyous, that nothing else mattered. Yet her dark-brown hair was wavy and lustrous, her golden-brown eyes held challenging lights and the corners of her mouth had such a jolly quirk. She was looking her best to-night with a little flush of excitement staining her round, creamy cheeks. She felt as if she were slipping back into the past." (Mistress Pat).
Jane Stuart:
"Your granddaughter is going to be a very handsome girl," a lady told grandmother. "She doesn't resemble her lovely mother, of course, but there is something very striking about her face."
"Handsome is as handsome does," said grandmother in a tone which implied that, judged by that standard, Jane hadn't the remotest chance of good looks." (Jane of Lantern Hill).
Thora Dark:
"Whenever she came into a room people felt happier. She lighted life like a friendly beaming candle. She had a face that was charming without being in the least beautiful. A fascinating square face with a wide space between her blue almond-shaped eyes and a sweet, crooked mouth. She was very nicely dressed. Her peculiarly dark auburn hair was parted on her forehead and coronetted on her crown. There were milky pearl drops in her ears." (Tangled Web).
Marigold Lesley neé Richards (Marigold's Aunt, a wife of Uncle Klondike, a female doctor):
"She had a little, square, wide-lipped, straight-browed face like a boy's. Not pretty but haunting. Wavy brown hair with one teasing, unruly little curl that would fall down on her forehead, giving her a youthful look in spite of her thirty-five years. What a dear face! So wide at the cheekbones—so deep grey-eyed. With such a lovely, smiling, generous mouth." (Magic for Marigold).

Location:
Dunblane Primary School, Dunblane, County of Stirling, Scotland.
(A primary school holds children from four to six years old.)
Victims:
Victoria Elizabeth Clydesdale (5), Emma Elizabeth Crozier (5), Melissa Helen Curry (5), Charlotte Louise Dunn (5), Kevin Allen Hassle (5), Ross William Irvine (5), David Charles Kerr (5), Mhairi Isabel MacBeath (5), Gwen Mayor (45), Brett McKinnon (6), Abigail Joanne McLennan (5), Hannah Louise Scott (5), Emily Morton (5), Megan Turner (5), Sophie Jane Lockwood North (5), John Petrie (5), Joanna Caroline Ross (5).
Teacher Gwen Mayor and her class, 16 of who are listed as victims above.
Timeline:
8:15am
Thomas Hamilton was seen shaving ice off of his car at his house on Kent Road, Stirling. He left soon after and drove 5 miles to Dunblane. From Kent Road to Dunblane Primary School, the journey would take 16-18 minutes to drive, but Thomas Hamilton arrived at about 9:30am, which means he had 1hr15mins to reconsider, whilst on his way to the primary school.
Thomas Watt Hamilton, the shooter.
9:30am
Thomas Hamilton parked his car near a telephone pole and severed the phone line, cutting connections to several nearby houses. He could've done this so that there was no way civilians could raise alarms and call the police if gunshots were heard.
By this time, a class of 28/29 students along with Gwen Mayor; Teacher, Eileen Harrild; P.E Teacher, and Mary Blake; assistant teacher, were in the middle of a lesson.
Sophie North, a victim in the shooting, was having a PE lesson in the gymnasium.
9:30am-9:35am
The shooter headed towards the northwest side of the building to a door near the toilets and gymnasium. He entered and fired shots into the assembly hall stage and the girl's toilets.
Dunblane Primary School after the Massacre.
9:35am-9:38am
Thomas Hamilton entered the gymnasium and opened fire. Teacher Gwen Mayor was shot and killed immediately. PE Teacher Eileen Harrild was shot in the arms and chest trying to protect herself. She proceeded to stumble into an open-planned store cupboard, bringing four children and Mary Blake, the Teaching Assistant, who was shot in the head and both of her legs.
At the same time, Thomas Hamilton, moved to the east, firing six shots as he walked, Then firing eight shots at the opposite side of the gymnasium (west). Walking to the centre of the gym, he then callously fired 16 shots at the injured children he had earlier capacitated, at point-blank range. Potentially spotting an adult in the playground, he fired 24 shots in various directions (window next to the fire exit, southeast). Four more shots were then fired.
An adult and child potentially heard the loud bangs and screams, moving to check what was happening, causing the shooter to fire towards them. The child was injured by shattering glass.
Thomas Hamilton exited the gym through the fire exit, firing four shots into the library cloakroom, injuring member of staff Grace Tweddle, though not hitting any students.
Amy Hutchinson, a survivor, who was shot by Thomas Hamilton in the leg, was in the gymnasium.
9:38am-9:40am
Catherine Gordon, a teacher in the mobile classroom nearest the fire exit, saw Thomas Hamilton approaching and told the students inside to get on the ground mere seconds before he fired 9 shots inside, hitting school equipment, books and a chair a child was sitting in a few seconds before.
Thomas Hamilton then returned to the gymnasium, dropping one pistol and taking out his revolver placing the barrel at the back of his mouth, pointing it upwards and proceeding to pull the trigger, killing himself.
Dunblane Primary School after the shooting, possibly the assembly hall or the gymnasium.
9:41am
Assistant Headmistress Agnes Awlson alerted Headmaster Ronald Taylor, who called the police. Ronald said he "assumed the noises were from builders he hadn't been informed about".
Headmaster Ronald Taylor, who was the first to witness the aftermath, had to take control and identify the bodies.
9:43am
Ronald Taylor ran to the gym. Seeing what had happened, he told Deputy Headmistress Fiona Eadington to call the ambulance.
Dunblane Cathedral, where the memorial for the victims was taking place.
9:48am
Stirling Royal Infirmary was informed of a major incident having unfolded.
Isabel, Mhairi MacBeath's mother holding her picture. She had recently lost her husband to a stroke and was on her way to the memorial service when she got a call about the shooting. Her daughter was dead by nightfall.
9:57am
The first ambulance arrived.
Mothers comforting students after the massacre.
10:04am
A medical team from Dunblane Health Centre arrived. Both the Dunblane and the ambulance teams were involved in the initial resuscitation. Teams from Doune and Callender arrived shortly after.
Parents rushing to Dunblane Primary school after hearing about the shooting.
10:15am
Stirling Royale Infirmary medical team arrive on the scene.
Queen Elizabeth the 2nd and Anne, Princess Royale, placing flowers at the scene.
10:35am
Falkirk and District Royal Infirmary medical teams arrive.
Gwen Mayor, the 1st victim of the massacre. She was a primary school teacher.
11:10am
By this time, all injured had been taken to hospital.
Children outside Dunblane Primary School a day after the massacre.
Summary
743 rounds of ammo in total.
106 shots were fired.
105 by the pistol.
1 by the revolver.
32 gunshot wounds all between a three to four-minute time period.
16 were inside the gym.
Children with injuries were taken to either the District Royal Infirmary or the Royal Hospital For Sick Children in Glasglow.
One child died en route to the hospital.
The shooter, Thomas Hamilton, was wearing shooting earmuffs, showing inexperience, with his ears not yet used to the sound of gunfire.
Aftermath
Parents of the victims petitioning for new gun legislation, October 1996.
After the Massacre, a professional inquiry was held by William Cullen, Baron Cullen of Whitekirk, called The Cullen Reports. It focused on 3 significant events, Piper Alpha; an oil rig fire that killed 167 of the 229 people on board in 22 minutes, Ladbroke Grove; the deadliest train crash in British history and the massacre itself.
The public campaigned to ban handguns from being privately owned across Britain. The Snowdrop Petition was created to press forward the petition. It proved successful, helping to bring about new legislation, specifically two firearms acts. The acts prohibited the private ownership of most types of handguns in Britain. Licensed gun owners had to hand in their handguns in exchange for compensation.
