Cruising California Coast in 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz
“White space” is hard to find in the U.S. car market, but Hyundai found a niche in 2021 when it introduced the Santa Cruz compact pickup truck. Now, four years down the road, the Santa Cruz remains a standout, blending a five-passenger crossover interior with the practicality of an open pickup truck bed. Designed for buyers seeking the utility of a truck without the bulk, it competes directly…

some sketchbook doodles Just showing off my new sketchbook front cover of a jaguar in colored pencils and my new unicorn Galactor concepts. Felt like drawing a unicorn after watching the last unicorn with my husband and got to doodling. that small BG is the only real BG I've drawing in years : P woops as for my old sketchbook...
I had an old one buuut I wanted to start fresh for the end 2024-2025. There is a lot of history in this sketchbook alone, originally the sketchbook I was working on was 110-page blick studio sketchbook. Only to realize partly into the book I didn't really like the paper. So I transferred my stickers or at least what I could anyway onto a 48 page-ish sketchbook with better paper. which was no walk in the park 😓. But hey, yuh can't say I didn't try with the last sketchbook.
Anyway, this sketchbook will serve as my in real-time progression and to see if I can actually stick to finishing a sketchbook now that it's manageable in size and has lovely paper to work with.

What is happening in the world of motorsports?
Ducati won MotoGP constructors after Bagnaia won in Thailand
Williams added yellow color to their livery for Mercado Libre sponsorship
Marko has been yapping that Mark Webber has been in contact with Red Bull for potential seat for Oscar
But also Zak Brown and Helmut Marko had like. A lil beef over media about Lando and his mental health (tbh I didn’t read further into it I just hope they all disappear)
Oh and Marko also said that Red Bull will choose Max’s teammate for 2025 at the end of this season
Speaking of Oscar, he appeared in Australian Forbes in category 30 under 30
And Franco was on the cover of Forbes Argentina!!
Also McLaren lodged a right to review for the penalty Lando got in COTA, the penalty got rejected like everyone expected, because they didn’t bring any new or substantial facts for the decision making
On the other hand there are reports from Craigh Slater (I probably butchered the name I am sorry) that the drivers meeting sparked a fire debate about overtaking rules, track limits and having a nose first in the apex, so FIA basically admitted there is a gap in the regulations that Max is using to his favour and they will close it up, so the overtaking rules will change from Qatar onwards
Franco mentioned he probably won’t have an F1 seat until at least 2026 despite rumours that Red Bull and Sauber both were looking into his contract options (probably for VCARB in Red Bull’s case)
Jock Clear reported that Ferrari didn’t change the flexibility of their front wing to resemble those of MCL and Merc (I am not convinced but ok)
Alonso officially gets his 400th start in F1 today (he also missed out on Thursday aka media day because he is sick)
George had to get checked in medical center after his FP2 crash which was worth about 30G
After COTA promoters got fined for track invasion, they are now looking to fix another thing – track limits (there is a word about installing gravel traps like they did at Red Bull Ring)
Fun fact from the FP1 session featuring all the rookies: Robert Shwartzman got a 5 places grid drop penalty for the next race he enters (if ever) for overtaking under double yellow flags
Horner said that Yuki will be testing RB20 at the end of the season in Abu Dhabi (but who knows)
McLaren brought major floor upgrade to Mexico but only for Lando so far
Alan Walker apparently published his Charles Leclerc remix in a new EP Neon Nights (I am not even kidding)
George’s upgraded floor (the one he broke in COTA) won’t be available until Brazil at least
There is a rumour Valtteri is in talks to become Mercedes’ reserve driver (he will be put on the shelf next to Mick help)
Bruno del Pino joined MP Motorsport in F3, while Matias Zagazeta will join DAMS in F3
Lia Block is racing in F4 for ART in Monza this weekend
American Express is now F1’s official partner, so it will appear at GPs next year
Jaguar and Nissan both breached the cost cap in FE (they will miss the first half day of testing and received a financial fine)
Nikolas Tombazis confirmed it wasn’t just McLaren (who admitted they did further changes to their rear wing) that was hit with clarifications and had to change up their design a bit
Max and Checo got a… couple of the year award?? Um?
Charles became a jet fighter pilot, the footage will come out on 3rd November on canal plus
Last but not least, happy belated birthday Roscoe Hamilton!!

The latest jaguar census in Mexico has found that in most study areas, the species’ population has remained stable or even increased since the previous jaguar census, which was completed in 2018. The head of the National Alliance for Jaguar Conservation, Gerardo Ceballos González, said at a press conference on Tuesday that the final results will be announced in February 2025. “At this stage, the results seem positive,” Ceballos said. The 2024 jaguar census, the third such census to be carried out in Mexico, is ongoing in 19 Mexican states with jaguar corridors, or habitats, including areas of Tabasco, Campeche, Nayarit, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Colima and Guerrero. Monitoring is carried out in collaboration with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the National Alliance for Jaguar Conservation (ANCJ). Ceballos noted that Mexico is a pioneer in counting these mighty cats. The first census was carried out in 2008 and took three years to complete. Those first results estimated the population to be 4,000 jaguars, mostly in the Yucatán peninsula. By the publication of the 2018 census, this figure had increased to approximately 4,800.

Trends in Design & Tech: Electric and Future-facing
The new Jaguar redesign is funky and has been quite the conversation piece. The website says, "We're here to delete the ordinary. To go bold. To copy nothing."
I find this statement a bit ironic because their logo change follows the trend of oversimplification that we've seen for a while now.
What I find most interesting about Jaguar's decision is their firm stake in the ground. While most other car companies are slowly transitioning into an electric lineup, Jaguar has committed to going entirely electric by 2025. They aim to reach an entirely new audience and demographic. I'm very interested to see how it plays out.

New Jaguar Logo
Yes, Jaguar has recently updated its logo as part of a comprehensive rebranding effort. The new logo and brand identity were unveiled in November 2024, signaling the company's transition to an all-electric lineup by 2025. This change aims to reposition Jaguar as a luxury brand, targeting competitors like Bentley and Porsche instead of volume-oriented premium brands like BMW or Audi.
The redesign includes a fresh take on Jaguar's iconic "leaper" emblem, a mixed-case wordmark, and a new circular logo referred to as the "artist’s mark." This revamp aligns with Jaguar's strategy to re-establish itself as a maker of high-end, exclusive vehicles for a modern audience.
Jaguar is also set to launch three new electric models on its new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform, starting with a four-door grand tourer in 2025. These changes reflect the brand’s goal to innovate while maintaining its legacy of luxury and performance.

Self-driving taxis sort of working in some circumstances
Get in—We’re Chasing a Waymo Into the Future
Tailing a robotaxi for hours and hours is weird. And revelatory. And jealousy-inducing. But a driverless world is coming for all of us. So shut the door and buckle up.
Nov 20, 2024 6:00 AM
Nearly everywhere on earth, when you’re stuck in traffic, you’re still surrounded by the usual sea of heads attached to shoulders attached to arms attached to steering wheels. But in a tiny handful of places—in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Wuhan, China—you can find yourself flanked by taxis with no one in the drivers’ seats, picking up passengers, unsupervised by any human. And if you live in one of those cities, the sight probably doesn’t even prompt a double-take anymore. It’s like the future is suspended between those who’ve never encountered it—and those who are already a little blind to it.
Granted, practically everyone has been numbed by the hype cycle. Autonomous cars—one of the canonical sci-fi conveniences—were the hottest thing in tech for a few years around 2018. Then a self-driving Uber being tested in Arizona killed a jaywalking pedestrian, regulatory scrutiny intensified, and a bunch of self-driving projects shut down amid a general period of disenchantment with tech. The whole autonomous driving industry started to seem less worthy of being taken seriously, if not completely on the ropes.
In reality it was a case of rope-a-dope. Investment capital kept pouring in. Since 2020, more than $11 billion has been committed to Alphabet subsidiary Waymoalone. And in the past few years, hundreds of empty electric Jaguar SUVs began cruising the streets in Waymo’s three US markets, eventually picking up passengers and charging them for rides. A similar fleet of white-SUV robotaxis fanned out across Wuhan around the same time, operated by the Baidu subsidiary Apollo Go. The long-imagined future is finally, quietly, here, and all signs point to it taking over fast. Waymo is about to start operating in two new US cities—Austin, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia—in early 2025. And autonomous rideshare cars are in various earlier stages of testing in Las Vegas, Houston, Detroit, Seattle, and at least seven other cities in China; also in Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, South Korea, the UK, Sweden, and Singapore.
WIRED happens to have a bureau in one of Waymo’s first markets, which is both an asset and a challenge: The novelty of being on the road with a bunch of robots has largely worn off for us in San Francisco, too. Even our 90-year old mother, when she took her first Waymo ride, felt instantly comfortable with her new sci-fi chauffeur. ....
