#Jacksepticeye got me into horror

Hope u don't mind, but imma get in on this! As a kid, I actively hated horror. I had/have such an "active imagination," as my mom called it, that if I even say a picture of somthing scarey I'd be haunted for months

But what ended up getting me into horror was YouTube, but not the way everyone else in this thread did. Sure ive gone back now and watched some of the classics (Marble hornets, Salad fingers, Crypt TV, ect.) But first true intro?

Let's plays (specifically Jacksepticeye and GTLive, a little later Markiplier) infact i think they were both playing Fnaf 3 or 4 at the time i started watching.

I was twice removed from the horror and had someone else to experience it with. (I grew up pretty secluded), But that was just the method by which i could stomach horror. What really pulled me in was the stories. They were so much more intracate than your bog standard shoot'em up. so through exposure therapy, I slowly grew less and less scared and could really get into the stories.

What solidified my love and had me finally try the waters was Jacksepticeye's playthrough of resident evil 7(Biohazard) I was smitten!

The visuals, the character/monster, design 😍 the music! And since it was a sorta refresh for the series, I wasn't having to have any prior context that Jack didn't give during the series.

I then delved into my favourite medium for first-hand experience , comics, and zip boom bang here I am!!! (Mentally unstable but one hell of an artist)

Tldr: I was too pussy to get into any horror till a funny green haired Irish man and his flannel wearing multi coloured haired buddy, got scared with me. Then I dove head first and got me fucked up in the best possible way!

it's SO interesting seeing how different people react to the story of mouthwashing and how it unfolds, particularly the element of playing as curly and Jimmy

Having seen both gab smolders and jacksepticeye play it now, it's interesting seeing how differently they react to it all

Gab reacts to it similar to how she reacts to most pov horror games she plays, in that she takes the story in stride and the actions of the characters are accepted and interpreted through a lens of understanding that this is a horror story, and everyone is the worst version of themselves. What surprises her the most is just *how* intense the themes and suffering gets, such as the cannabalism and sheer vitriol Jimmy says to curly, but she's not surprised that Jimmy is awful at all. Even him being the main pov character for majority of the game play doesn't necessarily make any reveals about him (he got Anya pregnant, he was the one who crashed the ship) into a lesser being in her head, she's more intrigued by what they reveal about the story. That's not to say she thinks he's great at all, but any information doesn't take him down from a pedestal in her head because she never had one on him in the first place.

Given she loves horror stories and horror games and frequently talks about the horror books she reads, this makes sense. She's primed to come to a horror story knowing it's a tragedy and no one is good and accepts that immediately.

Jack, on the other hand, interprets the lenses of Jimmy as the inherent main character, and he is, but jack takes it as, 'he is the victim the story is happening to' rather than 'he is as much complacent and active in the horrors going on as the story wants to make him experience.' he gives Jimmy a normal voice when reading out his dialogue, and everyone else gets some kind of voice acting - a deviation from the norm, which is immediately Jimmy in his eyes. Even curly gets a rough scratchy voice and through that until jack sees his face, it can inferred jack sees him as the grizzled old man that Jimmy arguably is instead of curly (tho in the wake of most people seeing curly as nothing but a victim and incapable of causing any harm when he very much did, this is kind of refreshing to me).

It's only when Swansea is dead and Jimmy is REALLY descending into madness, that jack considers the idea that Jimmy may be the bad guy, and that in turn, he has been perpetuating many actions that have led to the horrible situation getting worse.

Interestingly, the puzzle - gab, who up until that point has been thoroughly horrified by everything that does happen and how graphic the game has been, seems to find a sort of dissociative comfort in making the pipes line up so curly can digest his own leg. Meanwhile jack cannot stop focusing on the horror of making curly digest his own leg to the point that he takes a while to figure out how the puzzle works to complete it, and eventually settles into a very uncomfortable silence as he makes it work.

It's two really interesting ways that this game has been interpreted and I kinda fucking love thinking about it.

Watched Jacksepticeye’s play through of Mouthwashing, and I gotta applaud the people that made that game. I’m not too easily disturbed, but this game got to me. I love the trope of finding out that the horror of it all was the people themselves. Games that point out how fucked up humanity can get when faced with massive amounts of guilt and ‘responsibility’ are fascinating and utterly terrifying—simply because it can happen.

Tourettes Awareness Month, June 3rd!

Today is just going to be some little stories/recollections related to my tics. I'm going to put them in different colors for ease of reading since some are longer than others.

⚠️everyone who has Tourette's will have different experiences, this is just mine.

In senior year I was in a Physics and Trigonometry class, and I developed a tic I call "take off" when we were building rockets. It literally sounds like I'm mimicking a rocket take off. It was also often accompanied by my "fling" tic where I throw stuff over my shoulder.

The day came to try our rockets and they didn't work, there was something wrong with the ignition peices (we think they got wet). So we come back in all disappointed, and I think my teacher was kind of upset for getting our hopes up and it not working. I'm a little ticcy from a mix of excitement and disappointment, and wanting to lighten the mood I tell my friend "well, if we just put me on the roof with a rocket and wait, we can get our data that way (take off tic) I've even got the sound effects!"

My teacher overheard, I think it was the first time he heard me joking about it, and since he was feeling bad I think it helped. He cracked up and had to pause class for a few minutes to calm down. They never did put me on the roof, so we just used hypothetical rockets for our work.

Same physics class, I had a really bad habit of tossing my pen over my shoulder. No matter how many times it happened, my friend who sat across from me would get up and grab it for me. One day he couldn't find it. We looked for like 5 minutes after class and still didn't find it. A day or two later it was finally found, on top of a stack of books, on top of the shelf behind me, about 6.5 or 7ft up.

When I discovered loud noises trigger my tics I was like "Oh I should try to desensitize myself". I'm not sure exactly the reasoning but I decided to do this by Jacksepticeye's entire horror playlist, followed by Markiplier's horror playlist. It didn't work to desensitize, but it did help me learn kind of when to expect jump scares in some kinds of media 😅

The first time I watched Ralph Breaks The Internet, I was babysitting and the kid was asleep. The parents came home to me crying bc Vanellope's glitches reminded me so much of my tics but she learned how to use them and she was still loved by her friends. I was recently diagnosed and really worried about it, but I loved that movie so much. I remember just texting my friend "VANELLOPE HAS TOURETTE'S", and still sometimes use "glitch" when I refer to my tics.

.#4: Toxin by Derivakat. Yes you'll see that name the whole time lol. Mr. Puzzles was the reason I started to think of doing this, and this is the best of the 5 in my opinion. He's very hypnotizing in a way, and too much of anything could be dangerous...

.#3: Nightmare by Derivakat yet again. Honestly ignore the roundness of Weegee and I think I did okay here. I can just imagine King Boo torturing him when hearing those lyrics...

.#2: Viper by oh you know who. Just tell me that Anti (Jacksepticeye ego) doesn't fit with a song about something dangerous breaking out of containment and preparing to control everyone. Dude practically controls JJ and tortures Chase already!

.#1: Reign by yeah yeah her again. Dude, this song is of someone taking over and ruling something huge, maybe even the world! Most of these I thought of another evil character first but thought during this they fit better, but Sonic.exe is the only one who kept the song I 'assigned' to him since the beginning! He could be the most chaotic and horrible ruler, I'm sure of that.

Did i leave a review on Still Wakes the Deep? I think not yet. Anyway, here's me screaming shit about Still Wakes the Deep.

I fuckibg love the story, compact, well-written, fucking heart wretching and tense. Its gameplay? Terrifying, u need to be stealthy and shit against jiggly flesh monsters who can speak. The music? Adds more to the atmosphere. The voice acting? Very fucking natural! Even if ur only watching the gameplay, the dialogues felt natural as if you were there. I even learned new curse words to use. Props to the Chinese room, programmers, VAs, artists and others who took part in the game😭😭 the story made me emotional and ive watched it for the 4th time now (i watched eddie play it, uncensored ver. Lol, juicyfruitsnacks, super horror bro and then jacksepticeye. Im still waiting for markiplier to play it 👀)

The game was so thrilling and emotional that i wish it was all fake and they all continue their darts tournament. I wish they were all just alive and well. They didnt deserve shit --except for Rennick and Addair, Roy was the best man, Brodie the prick, Finlay the intelligent and Caz the goodluck charm. 😭😭😭 And addair and rennick, i hate them. We only got to know them shortly but they are easily hate-able because of how they are so well written. (I also love that hair dryer joke by caz in the cafeteria XD joke never gets old, just like him oof) And caz's reaction to everything? An absolute chad, he's brave and he's scared yet he did and cursed holy words🗿very demure, very mindful🧨

I really fucking love this game, it was so high quality but it had to end there. The rig was a small area after all. Also the fact that the rig was fully modeled was fucking amazing. It was built like a cheap rig (what you'd expect from greedy managers) its not like those other games when hacked, you'd see darkness and the room/area of where the player is. But in Still Wakes the Deep? The devs just said "Nah, full model, full of bumpy flesh and shiny oil." I fucking love that. There should be more games like Still Wakes the Deep. Psychological game, monsters are unpredictable, fucking terror in all scenes of the game and great storyline.

In summary: pros and cons of the game

Pros

Beautiful graphics, realistic VAs, emotional story, terrifying gameplay, yellow paint thay guides the clueless(like me), fully modeled area, disgusting yet amazing monsters, rennick and addair dies

Cons

Short lived, the characters didnt deserve to die (except for the two angry peeps)

Sonic but Undertale Souls: Forces Version 3 Sonic

If you aren't aware, this is one of many Sonic AUs about if the Sonic world has Undertale Souls in it. I explained how all that worked in a separate post and it's recommended you read that to understand some of what I say- and don't worry! It's not a long read!

Anyways this is specifically about Sonic Forces and version 3 of of the other two possible outcomes, all having something to do with Sonic's soul getting fucked up. Anyways, there's more about him and how I came up with the idea below the drawing!

He's finally here, and now I get to rant about what I came up with for him! >:)

You can probably skip this part but if you're curious how I managed to come up with this here's the story behind that: It came from me rewatching Jacksepticeye playing Undertale- specifically from the True Lab section and onwards. During his fight with Asriel I was thinking about how I wanted to do some cool design stuff like Asriel's God of Hyperdeath, but how? If the death rate for absorbing a soul is super high then how on earth could literally any of the characters absorb enough souls (not to mention why and how they'd absorb that many) to gain a form at least somewhat as cool looking as Asriel's? Then version 3 of my Sonic Forces AU came to mind and... well... I'll explain the rest below.

So idk the specifics but during Sonics imprisonment on the Death Egg not only was he tortured but Eggman did all kinds of unethical experiments on Sonic's soul, eventually causing it to turn a color nobody has ever seen before: Black.

With such a corrupted soul and many months of torture he eventually breaks and instinctively kills Infinite (the reason he's got that tail) and eats his soul. Not absorb. Eat. And in this way he gains soul power without absorbing another soul. (Note: He only has this ability due to the corrupted nature of his soul. If a regular person were to try and eat a soul one of two things would happen depending on how fast it breaks: 1 is that nothing would happen, 2 is that the souls attempt to combine and inevitably kill that person's own soul) He ends up repeating this process with Eggman and, deciding he's a monster, stays up on the Death Egg. But eventually he gets hungry. He tries eating the food on the Death Egg but it just doesn't fill him. There's still this cold, empty, and hungry feeling inside of him. And he has a bad feeling the only thing that'd satisfy him is a soul.

So he goes awhile without food, probably about a week, and eventually he's so damn hungry that ends up going down to earth to look for some animal souls to sustain him. He sucks the soul out of the animal's body and basically just secludes himself in the forest. He feeds on the souls of animals, getting ever so slightly stronger with each one, even if he has a feeling that human and mobian souls would be much more fulfilling.

But eventually a nearby village starts finding these untouched corpses left behind when scavenging for food in the forest since the war only very recently ended and get concerned that there's a monster in the forest. So they send a few hunters out and... well... they found what they were looking for, but died in the process.

As for Sonic he's having major issues after consuming a bunch of souls (also causing him to look like the drawing) that had murder on their minds. He tries his best to resist but he ends up wandering close to the edge of the forest near the village, just barely keeping himself from going on a murderous rampage. But then the village sends out a rescue party and he snaps. He ends up consuming every person he finds which is like almost the entire village cause he can see souls that are close by to him.

Although thankfully for literally everyone he ends up staying in that area and basically claims it as his own. The few survivors tell their horror stories and very few people (basically idiots thinking they can kill him with simple weapons) ever go there. But once the world kinda gets back together enough to establish communication again the Resistance Restoration hears about this monster and, of course, want to help. They've got super powers and Sonic has taken on plenty of monsters. All they gotta do is find the Chaos Emeralds and kick this thing's ass!

Thankfully the monster can't absorb their souls in their super forms, but it doesn't take them long to realize who said monster is. And given time the 'monster' might just find these people to be strangely familiar...

Anyways that's it for now! Feel free to ask questions while y'all wait on me to design the form they find him in. Might be hard since I don't wanna make it look like Asriel as much as possible but hey, we'll see.

- I hate this I want to cry UPDATE: I literally started crying right after this, about 8 minutes into the game, but it got better afterwards.

- The touch when saying 'we have to be brave' was very personal to me. (Someone give me someone to watch this with and hold me please because I am scared)

- The color game is actually calming my anxiety SO much it's hilarious, like it's just logic and following patterns and those things are so calming even when Dan is screaming.

- I think you can see Phil's hand shaking in the whack a mole, like the camera was SO shakey which was either his inability to use a mouse or he was shaking, place your bets.

- Dan playing the mini game after all, Phil is never beating the younger brother stereotype truly.

- When did they film all of these that their heating is still broken?! Makes me think they really did pre-film most of these to have a less stressful time now during december, which good job guys!

- Their delighted faces at seeing jacksepticeye are adorable, like you could tell they were so happy truly and I love these little easter eggs!

- Phil just, maybe unconsciously, moving impossibly closer to Dan is a big mood (only I am alone rip).

- Weirdly enough the mini games are the most calming part for me, like there is a clear focus and clear objective of what to do and it's like: here is a problem, solve it and I think that does wonders for me.

How did you first discover Undertale? What do you think keeps you coming back to this game repeatedly?

autism moment so i remember this with perfect clarity. i was 11 years old watching youtube on the family computer and i decided to check out a youtuber i had liked some months prior. saw they had uploaded several parts of an undertale letsplay. unfortunately i clicked off soon because my english was subpar and thought the scene where frisk has to walk the long corridor to the pillar where toriel was hiding to be very boring LOL. some weeks later i saw jacksepticeye was recording videos of himself playing it and the thumbnails were flashy enough for my brain to lock onto the bright colors and decide to give it a second shot. i got the game for christmas that same year :-)

i think one big thing that keeps me coming back is how real the characters feel. i tend to gravitate towards story-rich experiences, and though i couldn't articulate it then cause i was 11, something that could juggle between comedy, horror, heartfelt emotional moments and so much more just made me latch onto it. that and the world of undertale was just so charmingly weird. it was a game i played when i very badly wanted to escape my life and i associated the true pacifist ending with the promise of like... i guess that things will get better? that i'll have a chance of my own life and stuff? so even now it's just really comforting to me! but i've grown to appreciate other aspects of it like its metanarratives over the years

I just had a silly idea.

Imagine entering Phantom's changin room and finding plenty of embarassing things. Like pictures of him in ridiculous outfits and newspaper articles with not so flattering photos about how funny it was when he lost his voice.

And of course a calendar dedicated to Peach, obviously.

If there will be his room in the DLC he'll be guarding it with all his might, lol.

This was actually the one place I desperately hope is in the DLC, more so than a possible horror movie set!

(it's a bit of a loooong post, so bare with me!)

In fact, I'm so glad you sent me this, Random, because I was going to talk about it on a whole separate post after watching the entirety of Jacksepticeye's My Friendly Neighborhood gameplay. However that was for his own office, not a dressing room.

Without revealing too much spoilers, there's a section in the game where you venture all throughout the MFN Theatre as a part of the main objective. I like to think if Phantom is the mastermind behind his network, then he would absolutely have an office like this.

Sean (Jacksepticeye) even mentioned how much it resembles the game, BioShock, what with its classic 30's-40's Silver Screen design.

Within his office would be his own dressing room, which would probably be like a luxurious hotel room considering how massive it would be. Inside the dressing room would be a treasure trove of, in the words of Game Theory, LOOOOOORE!!!!

Before Sparks of Hope, Phantom didn't have much in terms of depth with his character. Yes, we know he's egotistical and lives for theatre, but what about his interests? His reaction towards fans inside and outside the stage? His past relationships? His story of how he got his own network show? @color-cacophony mentioned lore murals for Phantom, so perhaps we'll see that or something similar in his dressing room. Not to mention the LOADS of Easter eggs you could put in such an area!

Can you imagine rummaging through his vanity set and coming across written lyrics to an unfinished song or a love poem dedicated to his golden-haired princess?

There's just so much I wanna know about Phantom ever since the sequel came out. Regardless of what is made canon or not, all I want is to enjoy that sweet, sweet lore...
