dc au- puts amy and tails in an alt timeline were nothing went wrong so they can be forever haunted by what could’ve been

due to time shenanigans they accidentally stopped Knuckles from becoming batman and in turn created a domino effect where there was never a raffle to get an internship at Arkham so Nicky never met the Joker so ‘Sonic’ never existed

he’s still nerdy, shy and not very confident in himself, but he’s finishing high school and studying psychology

I wanted to do something a little more creative than just give him some lightning powers, so I leaned into the sound of thunder (which is what he’s specifically scared of anyway). I also incorporated his fear of dependency. In this AU, Tails heavily relies on machinery as his lifeline, however, if not regulated they can overflow with electricity and overheat… these machines periodically make horrible sounds like thunder when rattled or overloaded. He’s highly dependent on Sonic to easily cool down his systems.
