Hot take: Eurylochus' death is sadder than Polites' death in Epic.

For one thing, we got to "know" him longer. He is in more songs. We got to see this friendship as it was and how it soured. There's a REASON why Eurylochus was his 2nd in command. He was smart and knew what he was most of the time. Most likely, they were fine in the war but the monsters and everything else in the Odyssey are very different from a battle among mortal men.

Odysseus calls him his brother. I don't know if Jay plans to have Eurylochus be Odysseus' brother-in-law like he is in the Odyssey, but regardless, that does add to it.

We get to see the fear Eurylochus has, we get to see his doubt. His struggle to believe that Odysseus, his captain and "brother", actually knew what he was doing. As Odysseus WAS attempting very scary things that they've never really done before. Was he wrong most of the time? Yes. But can you blame him if you look through his point of view?

In some ways, I think Eurylochus almost KNEW his fate. Someone has mentioned it on tumblr but the fact that Eurylochus was so skeptical about Aeolus' island but was suddenly fine with eating Helios' cattle, shows that he just...didn't really care anymore.

Maybe he hasn't since he opened the bag tbh. Odysseus never says he "forgives him" after he admits to doing it. Odysseus was always the one to go back for their friends, the fact that he's changed so dramatically probably terrified him. As they were friends, and what happened with Scylla is now how he "treats" his friends, what does that mean for Eurylochus? Odysseus never said that he forgives Eurylochus, especially after what happened with Scylla.

The crew's "you relied on wit, and then we died on it" is almost a "prophecy" as these men are still alive but they DO die very soon after this. Odysseus "relied on wit" in how he chose himself over them. It's a reach, but I think you could even say that Penelope is his "wit" in this decision. She is the reason why he chose himself over them because "I have to see her." me too, Ody

His "But we'll die" doesn't even sound too desperate. I think it was one last try despite him knowing that "You will never choose us" because Odysseus would choose Penelope over anyone and everyone (Telemachus being the only other person who he'd possibly choose over her. I mean she'd be pissed if he put her before their son.). He already knew that Odysseus would choose her, I think he wanted some sort of answer or response from Odysseus. Maybe even an "I'm sorry" or something but Odysseus understands what this means but that doesn't matter as he has to see Penelope again.

Whether Eurylochus' and by proxy, the crews', deaths were already fated like in the actual Odyssey or not, there's just something so sad about seeing this bond go sour and how it'll never get the chance for forgiveness or resolution. It's done.

Hello, i really like how you write and it feels pretty accurate to the lore (maybe idk i forgot) anyways, i heard fnaf and dbd are collabing in summer 2025 idk if bhvr trolling but it'll be cool if the missing kids become the survivors or killers. I wonder what the killers actually think about kids being in the Entity's realm. And probably William afton or springtrap is just there and just brags how killed the kids and uses them for a bunch of experiments. I wonder how some of the killers react (put any killers that would probably be like 'wtf is this guy saying' and felt pity for the kids, some humanity ig)

tbh i'm on the side of people who think that it'll probably just be a cosmetic collab, personally. i also don't really think bhvr would put actual children in their game, neither as a survivor or killer tbh. if there were an actual chapter to come out of this collab, i would probably guess it would probably be movie related?? so springtrap, mike and vanessa, most likely, but idk i've only been playing the game since december last year so i'm still Very new. though it would be very funny to load into a game and be hunted down by an animatronic of a bear possessed by a child. and sad. very sad.

but. the idea of a child ending up in the fog has always been on my mind so. let's say these kids did get dragged into the fog. dare i say... killers and survivors join forces and boycott the entity. i don't think any of these guys would be chill with kids just... hangin around a place like this.

maybe it's because i'm against child murder, personally, but i don't think any of the killers would be chill with afton. obviously, i don't think the non-human killers such as singularity, unknown, nemesis, etc etc would necessarily care much, but if william actively goes around and brags about how he took away their lives and whatnot, then yeah. my dude is gonna have no friends in the fog.

and i think it's safe to say that not a single survivor would be chill with william afton at all. not even because he's a killer meant to torment them endlessly, it's literally the child murder that they all hate. if they could, i think they'd all gang up on him. but alas.

also i hate to say this but one time i read a fic where a kid did end up in the realm and the entity adopted her so now i just have this image in my head of the entity having a 'realm's no.1 mother' mug and showing off her kid to the killers and survivors with pride.

so if the kids did end up in the fog, i just picture the entity adopting them, i fear.

this does make me wonder what william's ability and perks would be if he were put in the game, tbh.

hour and a half unpaid overtime I think that's a new record for me. on a day where I was supposed to have no overtime no less. funny how I only have 3 of those this month and the 2 so far I've had to work overtime anyway 👍

At no time of the year do I feel more homicidal than on the days around New Year's Eve. I hope that anyone who sets off fireworks at any time other than midnight on New Year's Eve manages to blow their own head off with them. And then people say shit like "I'm not going to let a few cowardly animals and jumpy people spoil my fun”. If it was just midnight on New Year's Eve, hmmm, uhh, I'd still think it's a fucking primitive and stupid tradition to put pyrotechnics in the hands of drunk amateurs (a few die every year and dozens of apartments and houses burn down oh well), BUT I probably wouldn't be quite so fucking angry, ok. BUT IT'S NOT JUST MIDNIGHT, IT'S THE WHOLE FUCKING WEEK AROUND NEW YEAR'S EVE. On the day itself it's easily seven hours in which not 3 minutes go by without an explosion AND I LIVE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE. When we lived in the city it was a fucking war zone.

For years we've been spending New Year's Eve stuck in the most soundproofed room in the house (in the city apartment it was the mini bathroom where we squeezed in front of the running washing machine with the dog - for hours), listening to incredibly annoying loud music to somehow drown out the fucking explosions outside and calming panicked dogs. This year my mom finally got a proper tranquilizer for her dog who has even peed in the apartment in the past bc of his extreme panic (which he would never do otherwise) so hopefully he will be more calm this time. My dog was completely bulletproof until last year and had no problem with fireworks, then last New Year's Eve a fucking neighbor boy set off a firecracker just as we were coming around the corner (at 6pm!!! which was the latest we dared to go out) and unfortunately she has been extremely scared ever since. For the last two weeks I've been carrying pieces of carrot everywhere (she loves them) so that I can throw one down her throat every time there's a bang, but unfortunately that only helps to a limited extent. We also play the sound of fireworks through speakers to desensitize them, but the dogs can tell that it's not the real thing.

“Blabla go somewhere else then for the night”. 1. as I said, it's not just one night. 2. you can't escape that shit. There is NO place in this fucking country where you are guaranteed to escape the fireworks. Ohh yes it's forbidden in old town centers - Ok, but nobody actually sticks to it. Ohh look on the islands here it's restricted - Yes, but nobody cares. The police doesnt even do shit to offenders. The damn national park where rare animal species live, which is a nature reserve, etc. ASKS its visitors not to use fireworks - ASKS!!!! WHAT????? I hate this fucking holiday so much.
