My controversial art opinion is that I should not be forced to pay thousands of dollars to visit a country that ranks 129 out of 163 countries on the Global Peace Index if I want to see The Starry Night in person.
#that's the USA by the way#in case it wasn't clear#just for reference that is below South Africa#It's below Uganda#to put it in perspective#Palestine and Israel are 133 and 144 respectively#BELARUS i.e the country supporting Russia's invasion or Ukraine ranks higher than the USA#and I'd probably get profiled and stopped for being half lebanese loll

Tyria Pride 2024 is coming June 22 and 23!
Hello one and all! Tyria Pride is returning to Tyria for the 9th time! Join us any time next Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23, on both EU and NA for an awesome event that takes us all the way from Ebonhawke to Rata Sum, while we raise money for a good cause!
You can also watch it on my twitch at twitch.tv/lelling!
More info below the cut
What is Tyria Pride?
Tyria Pride is a two-day in-game pride march from one corner of (core) Tyria to the other to show support both LGBTQ players and devs, and a fundraiser for Rainbow Railroad, a non-profit organisation which helps queer people escape state-sponsored persecution and violence around the world.
It's tons of fun every year, a ton of streamers join in so there are many ways to follow along even if you're not in game, music guilds hold concerts, and we have some pretty legendary giveaways! It's always blast!
For more info, check out the post on the official forums at tyriapride.com/2024
Fundraiser
Rainbow Railroad is a non-profit that helps LGBTQ+ people get to safety from countries where their lives are at risk. They've done tons of work all over the world, working tirelessly in places like Russia and Afghanistan, and have already sprung into action as a response to the death penalty laws in Uganda, where you could even get up to 10 years in prison if you don't tell the police your child is gay. Rainbow Railroad works tirelessly to save lives, and we're honored to support them in this cause!
To check out the fundraiser, go to tyriapride.com/donate
How to get involved?
There are so many ways you can help out - spread the news, tell your friends and guildies, if you use any social media, share the information, let people know where and when to find the event!
Another way you can help out is by donating in-game prizes! We incentivize donations to the fundraiser by raffling off legendaries, black lion skins, and even artists give away commissions! If you can spare donations, both in-game or out, let me know! My in-game name is Lelling.6795
You can also join us on the Tyria Pride discord for more resources and information: tyriapride.com/discord

Hello my name is Abdul luyombya a Ugandan gay man aged 32 I fled Uganda to kenya and UNHCR took me to kakuma refugee camp in the north western turkana region fleeing homophobia and discrimination due to my sexual preferences that it’s a crime to be gay in Uganda. It was 2019 that I fled my home country and while at kakuma camp I met with other lgbt 🏳️🌈 refugees who also fled from both Uganda and other East African countries. It was very difficult to stay in the camp due to horrible conditions upon queer refugees we had to go through daily harsh conditions including death of our colleagues by homophobic refugees plus local natives called the turkana people plus police brutality. Last year in December on 19th after the Kenyan government refused to expedite our cases we had no option than to flee to South Sudan were we are now about 350men,women plus kids all starving with food scarcity plus medicine and shelters. I would really appreciate your intervention into our situation if at all you can,as you know we barely have food at camp yet within us we have mates with hiv positive statuses and they luck a lot plus kids who luck milk,I recently mate a friend who set us a fundraising page and would be glad if you can read about our situation through that page in my bio to see if you can help share it or donate something to our cause Lastly if at all you have any other social media platforms such as instagram or WhatsApp where we can talk on a video call so that you could meet my other representatives that would mean a lot to me. Thanks for accepting me to briefly share with you about our experience and happy to hear from you soon again. You can help us via our fundraising page below

Juliet Tumusiime is the founder of Cheveux Organique, a Uganda-based manufacturer of eco-friendly hair extensions made from banana fibres, offering a sustainable alternative to synthetic options. Extensions are typically made from human hair or synthetic materials. Although synthetics are popular in Uganda due to their lower cost, they are neither biodegradable nor easy to recycle, and some users report scalp irritation from these materials. Nelly Murungi asked Tumusiime about the origins of her business and how the products are made. Below are slightly edited excerpts.
Cheveux Organique collaborates with local banana farmers by purchasing stems. These stems are then split open, and the fibres are mechanically extracted. Once the fibres are obtained, they undergo a drying and treatment process. Finally, the treated fibres are carefully combed to achieve a hair-like texture.

SIGNAL BOOST!!!
This is a post for our friend Moise. Moise is Trans. Moise does not know yet if they are male or female, because Moise has not yet been given the opportunity to figure it out for themselves.
They are in a difficult and dangerous situation. Moise is living in a refugee camp with a group of activists who are currently being persecuted and even attacked for their beliefs, about gender and sexuality.
Money is scarce and Moise is struggling to buy food and supplies in the refugee camp currently. They can use any and all help that we can give.
Below is Moise's story in their own words:
"Hello friends,
I am Moisse ,a member and an activist of the LGBTIQ refugees in the community of Kakuma Kenya Refugee camp located in the northern Turkana region, looking for support to help the LGBTIQ family and also children .
We are LGBTIQ also living with kids in the refugee camp starving and passing through the homophobic situation.
Unfortunately the environment of the camp is so hostile for us, we are having regular attacks and injuries inflicted upon us .
We desperately need your help in order to survive and thrive in this situation please.
Me as a transgender I moved from my mother country Uganda because I was facing alot of hatred and for me I wasn't ready to change who I am and our president doesn't allow lgbtiq persons in my country .
In Uganda my family was killed by the community members ,I managed to escape death and I had no other option other than joining a camp in Kenya to seek for asylum .
We shall appreciate any hands that will decide to support us please ."
Anything you give will be highly appreciated. Even $5 helps a ton. Thank you. We will be sending proceeds directly to Moise. If you wish to reach out to Moise yourself to donate, click here for their Tumblr link. Sharing also helps! Reblogs are greatly appreciated!

Wooded Grasslands Flourished in Africa 21 Million Years Ago – New Research Forces a Rethink of Ape Evolution
An ape that lived 21 million years ago was used to a habitat that was both grassy and wooded.
By Laura M. MacLatchy, University of Michigan, Dan Peppe, Baylor University, and Kieran McNulty, University of Minnesota
Apes have stable, upright backs. Once the back is vertical, an ape no longer has to walk on the top of small branches like a monkey. Instead, it can grab different branches with its arms and legs, distributing its body mass across multiple supports. Apes can even hang below branches, making them less likely to lose their balance. In this way, they are able to access fruits growing on the edges of tree crowns that otherwise might be available only to smaller species. But was this scenario true for the earliest apes? A 21 million-year-old site in Moroto, Uganda, became an ideal place to investigate this question. There our REACHE team discovered teeth and other remains belonging to Morotopithecus, the oldest ape for which scientists have found fossils from the cranium, teeth and other parts of the skeleton. Two bones in particular helped us understand how this species moved. A lower backbone found decades ago and curated by the Uganda National Museum had already been noted for its bony attachments for back muscles, indicating that Morotopithecus had a stiff lower back, good for climbing upright in the trees. A discovery of our own confirmed this climbing behavior in a major way. At Moroto we found a fossil ape thigh bone that is short but strong, with a very thick shaft. This kind of bone is characteristic of living apes and helps them climb up and down trees with a vertical torso...

Burkina Faso's military junta has announced a ban on homosexual acts, making it the latest African state to crack down on same-sex relations despite strong opposition from Western powers.
Homosexuality was frowned upon in the socially conservative West African state, but it was never outlawed.
Justice Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala said the junta's cabinet had now approved legislation to make it a punishable offence, but he did not give further details.
The military seized power in Burkina Faso in 2022, and has pivoted towards Russia after drastically reducing ties with former colonial power, France.
Homosexual acts were decriminalised in Russia in 1993, but President Vladimir Putin's government has been cracking down on the LGBTQ community, including banning what it calls "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations".
The doctor forced to fight jihadists in Burkina Faso
Nigeria-EU deal sparks false claims over LGBT rights
The Nigerian queer parties that offer liberation
Burkina Faso's decision to outlaw homosexual relations is part of an overhaul of its marriage laws.
The new legislation, which still needs to be passed by the military-controlled parliament and signed off by junta leader Ibrahim Traoré, only recognises religious and customary marriages.
"Henceforth homosexuality and associated practices will be punished by the law," the justice minister was quoted by AFP news agency as saying.
Capt Traoré took power in September 2022 after overthrowing another military ruler, Lt Col Paul-Henri Damiba, accusing him of failing to quell an Islamist insurgency that has gripped Burkina Faso since 2015.
Burkina Faso was among 22 out of 54 African states where same-sex relations were not criminalised.
Unlike in many former British colonies, it did not inherit anti-homosexuality laws after independence from France in 1960.
Muslims make up around 64% of Burkina Faso's population and Christians 26%. The remaining 10% of people follow traditional religions or have no faith.
Many African states have been taking a tougher stand against the LGBTQ community in recent years.
Uganda is among those that have adopted legislation recently to further crack down on the community, despite strong condemnation from local rights groups and Western powers.
In May, its Constitutional Court upheld a tough new anti-gay law that allows for the death penalty to be imposed for “aggravated homosexuality”, which includes having gay sex with someone below the age of 18 or where someone is infected with a life-long illness such as HIV.
Activists said they would appeal against the ruling.
The World Bank has halted new loans to President Yoweri Museveni's government while the US has stopped giving Ugandan goods preferential access to its markets, following the adoption of the legislation last year.
Mr Museveni defended the legislation as preserving traditional family values, and said Uganda would not allow the West to dictate to it.
The daughter of Cameroon's president drew mixed reaction after she came out as a lesbian last week.
Brenda Biya, who lives abroad, said she hoped that her coming out would help change the law banning same-sex relations in the country.
Cameroon has been ruled with an iron-hand by her 91-year-old father, Paul Biya, since 1982.
In Ghana, parliament passed a tough new bill in February that imposes a prison sentence of up to three years for anyone convicted of identifying as LGBTQ+.
However, President Nana Akufo-Addo has not signed it into law, saying he will wait for the courts to rule on its constitutionality.
The finance ministry has warned him that if the bill became law, Ghana could lose $3.8bn (£3bn) in World Bank funding over the next five to six years.
Ghana is suffering a major economic crisis and received a bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last year.

Hello everyone, greetings from your lgbtiqa siblings from Kenya.
Currently over 200,000 people are living in Kakuma - mainly from Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, Congo, Rwanda and Burundi - although the camp was originally set up to house about 60,000. Conditions are cramped, nerves are tense. Around 50 people have to share a hut (see photo on the official UNHCR site linked above). Due to persecution in neighboring Uganda, more and more LGBTQ + people are arriving every day. Currently there are around 1200, distributed over 50 huts, although space is now becoming scarce and some already have to sleep outside. In addition to everything that refugees normally go through, they are also exposed to violence and hostility from other camp residents and suffer reprisals from some employees, including security forces and even medical staff. Thus queuing for food becomes a gauntlet, medication is being withheld, members of the community are being arrested for no good reason, and assaults by other refugees have become a frequent occurrence. Attempts at conciliatory or friendly contact, for example through sporting activities, are being rejected, and LGBTQ + people are accused of base motives.
On March 15 one of the "LGBTQ+ huts" became target of an arson attack . Four men were gravely wounded, one of them died later due to his injuries.
After the arson attack, the UNHCR promised to increase the security measures for LGBTQ + people, but in his circle of friends alone, Lawrence reports another three deaths as a result of the situation, including a 5-month-old child.

And here is an email chain, taken from twitter here! They have more specific copy-pastes, like calling the ICJ “Madam President” or “Vice President, but the general one is below!”
Subject: Urgent Concerns Regarding the impending matter of South Africa v. Israel with the ICJ
Dear Honourable Judge [JUDGE NAME HERE]
I hope this message finds you well and resolute. My name is [Your Name], I am a concerned citizen of the [Your Country]. I am reaching out to you with a sense of urgency and sincere apprehension which prompts me to break my customary silence.
I have always held the belief that individuals in positions of authority, such as yourself, harbour the best interests of humanity at heart. However, recent developments in the Middle East and the global response to them have stirred doubt in my convictions, compelling me to express my concerns directly to you.
As I explored the International Court of Justice's website, I took solace in the fact that it consists of "independent judges, elected regardless of their nationality from among persons of high moral character." With this understanding, I address you regarding the impending South Africa v. Israel matter, the provisional measures hearing of which is scheduled for Thursday, 11th and Friday, 12th January 2024.
I am sure that you are acutely aware of the gravity of the case before you, and I believe that your ability to discern the truth, resist external pressures, and deliver a just judgment is foremost on your mind. The Genocide Convention, a cornerstone of international law, was established in 1948 as a commitment to 'never again' allow atrocities akin to those committed by the Nazi’s in WW2. 152 states out of 194 nations of the world honourably signed up to the convention. It is a testament to our parents and grandparents that their generations committed to a set of standards that constitute the basic principles of right and wrong, which underpin the fabric of the world we live in and form the basis of the lives most of us are lucky enough to lead.
The very fact that the responsibility of adjudicating on this case has fallen upon your shoulders underscores a disheartening truth – the failure of existing systems of checks and balances within the international community. It is disconcerting that national interests have tainted the operations of our global systems, allowing the mass killing of civilians to persist without intervention. I find this reality appalling, as do countless citizens around the world who have expressed their horror through protests on the streets of cities across the globe.
The upcoming case is a litmus test for humanity's commitment to the solemn pledge of 'Never Again.' Generations have been educated about the horrors of the Holocaust, and this case challenges us to live up to the principles we profess. It is a stark reminder that the values we hold dear are being tested in real-time, with devastating consequences.
In March 2022, the International Court of Justice ordered Russia to immediately suspend military operations in Ukraine and ensure that affiliated units take no further steps in furtherance of the military operations. Despite this intervention, an estimated 10,000 civilians have tragically lost their lives in Ukraine since Russia's military operation in 2022. Moreover, and by comparison, the death toll in Gaza has already surpassed 22,000 since October 2023, with a staggering 70% of the victims being women and children.
In an age where mainstream media faces scepticism due to perceived biases, the global community has been witness to Israel's actions in real-time through various social media platforms such as X, TikTok, and Telegram. Enclosed with this letter, you'll find compelling evidence pointing towards Israel's culpability in intending to commit genocide and engaging in genocidal military actions, among other alleged war crimes.
We find ourselves in a world where trust in global institutions is eroding rapidly. The International Court of Justice, in particular, cannot afford to make an erroneous judgment in the #SouthAfrica v. #Israel genocide case. A misjudgement in this matter would not only underscore the ICJ's ineffectiveness but also prompt scrutiny regarding its autonomy from nation-state political influences, potentially compromising the esteemed moral character of the individuals involved.
In 1945 we celebrated Winston Churchill as the leader that brought the world together in war to put-down the threat of Nazi Germany and the horror it inflicted. That war claimed over 50 million lives. We do not wish to celebrate a wartime hero again; we wish to celebrate new heroes who averted a war by presiding over justice without fear or favour.
I humbly beseech you to approach this case with the utmost diligence, impartiality, and commitment to justice. The eyes of the world are upon you, and the outcome of this particular case will reverberate through history, shaping perceptions of the ICJ's impartiality and moral standing.
Yours sincerely,
(Insert Name)
Also, here’s a bigass link about what’s being done and what you can do
And here’s a link where you can search for protests near you (remember, never give your personal information away if you’re going to a protest—don’t announce it publicly or nothing, yadda yadda):

"Im sure you’ve heard about the hottest wrestling promotion in Uganda today, SoftGround Wrestling. These young men have so much potential in the world of professional wrestling, but it can all be withered away very soon. Hello, I am Jake, the US Ambassador for SGW. I, just like many others, found these amazing athletes through viral posts on twitter, and I wanted to learn more. So, I got in contact with the owner of the Organization and Channel, Bumbash Daniel, but what I heard made me very sad.
The land that they currently use to film most of their content, like the video you just saw, is being rented right now by Daniel, but they don’t have a lot of funds. And if this continues, the promotion may not have a home very soon.
I believe that these athletes deserve a chance to showcase their talents to the world, but I need your help. What this GoFundMe is for is so SGW can continue renting out their land for the foreseeable future, put money towards adding to their production, and eventually saving up to buy a wrestling ring to permanently use.
When I asked Daniel about what SoftGround exactly is, he told me that SoftGround is much more than a wrestling promotion, it’s a Community of people in Uganda that use pro wrestling to come together. It’s an activity that all of them find great joy in.
So that is why I believe you should help them out today in any way you can. Whether it be donating directly or sharing the link online to spread awareness. We will provide updates as the GoFundMe progresses. Thank you for your time."

Please donate to their GFM, follow the campaign's updates, and subscribe to their YouTube channel! You can also connect them via WhatsApp to offer your encouragement and ask how else you can support them at +(256)705059051.
I decided to reach out to them, myself, and was met with nothing but kindness, wishes for my safety, and gratitude. I mentioned that I was a big fan of their wrestler Hope, and was asked to record a short video saying hello to her, and promised that she'll record a video saying hello back to me tomorrow. I'm extremely touched, and I strongly encourage everyone to let SGW know we're cheering for them. You can watch a match of Hope's below and see for yourself what an incredible talent she and all the wrestlers at SGW are:
