Hello, fellow strangers!!!

I'd like to let you all know I may be a bit behind on linking the stories I make together. This especially goes for my Welcome...Home..? series. This is due to some link error on the main master list. I can't edit it at all on my phone, but it works fine on my laptop. Unfortunately, where I live we can only get internet on our phones, and we can't do a hotspot. I need to go someplace else for updating it, which may take a bit longer than right on the spot.

Because of this issue, I've created a Welcome...Home..? tag you can all follow for updates. (If I remember clearly, you can have it send notifications to you if there's a post in it? Please let me know if this information is wrong!) It's called "welcome...home? fanfic" and it should be on all parts.

I will also create a tag for my other fanfic stories, just in case.

was it really hatred that kept the two of you away? or was it something else?

Jinx is…evidently annoyed.

It could be because she can’t find her house keys or maybe because of the fact you just blew up your paired project.

You stood beside her, drenched from the pouring rain after the two of you ran away from the explosion, not wanting to get detention this late in the school year. For a while, the only thing accompanying your occasional sighs is the jingle of her keys and the downpour against the roof. It wasn’t until the click of a door opening graced your senses.

“Oh, thank God.” You didn’t mean for it to escape your thoughts but the wind is getting unbearably cold and the last thing you want is to die from hypothermia. Your companion scoffed, “Yeah, whatever praise me later.” She remarked, pushing the door forcefully, her annoyance evident. She clicked on the lights, illuminating the unusually cozy apartment of hers. It’s uncharacteristically clean and cozy and so unlike Jinx.

The sound of her keys hitting a nearby table halted your sightseeing moment. You faked a cough, running a hand through your dampened hair, “Look, Jinx…I really am sorry—” Your words were cut off when a clean towel hit your face from none other than the blue-haired girl who only smirked at your face, “Save it for later, toots. Dry off.” She darted a glance at the door behind you, presumably the bathroom.

You nodded, awkwardly retreating to the bathroom, heaving a sigh of relief after closing it.

‘Oh my god…this is so awkward.’

Everything has been awkward since the beginning, anyway. You get paired up with somebody you dislike, you blow up your project, and now you embarrassingly follow her to her house. It couldn't get any more awkward than that, hopefully.

Despite the sound of the shower drowning everything out, you can hear some clatter outside. It could be anything. Or it could also be Jinx plotting to kill you or whatever. You did, in fact, ruin your two’s project. It seems justified.

If only your car’s tires weren’t punctured, you wouldn't stay the night here. But this is way better than walking in the rain and potentially missing a week of coursework.

Leaving the shower and being greeted by the harsh air-conditioned living room felt like a nightmare. Wearing nothing but a bathrobe during a thunderstorm doesn't sound like a good idea but what choice do you have anyway?

You walked your way to where the TV noises were coming from and saw Jinx sitting on the couch, unfazed by your presence. Or rather, not noticing your presence with how fixated she is on the cartoons playing on the screen.

You let out a cough, causing her to dart her eyes toward you. Her face is still a scowl and all you can do is smile awkwardly, “You know…this is usually the part where you ask me if I want to eat.” Jinx let out a scoff, “Oh, sure, princess. How about I do your laundry for you too? Dream on, doll. Kitchen's that way, help yourself.” She replied before once again returning her sight to the screen in front of her, deeming it more significant than your presence.

You walked in front of her, blocking her view of the show, “Hey! Move it, blockhead! It’s the best part now!” Your crossed your arms as she let out a huff and plopped on her couch, “What the hell do you want this time? I already told ya, I am not cooking.”

You rolled your eyes, “I am trying to apologize. And for the record, I was making a joke earlier.” You replied which she only snickered on, “You’re bad at jokes, almost as bad as our grades the moment this semester ends!”

You groaned, “That’s exactly why I’m apologizing! Maybe if you didn’t put a feature for the bot to blow up, everything would be fine now!” You countered, the image of the robot the two of you built exploding still vivid in your mind. In your defense, you thought the button would only cause the robot to do basic functions, not blow up and completely damage a wall.

She rolled her eyes before pulling you down to her level, “Listen up, doll. Maybe if you stopped pressing all the wrong buttons, you wouldn’t be in this mess right now.” She smirked, observing the way you stammered with whatever you’re gonna say with how close she was.

‘She’s so close…’

You removed your wrist from her grip, “I fucking hate you.”

Jinx only snickered, “Likewise.”

The night went on with silence other than the occasional crunch of the chips that Jinx had been eating and the noises from the glowing screen in front of the two of you.

Frankly, you want to sleep and you could only hope for Jinx to feel an ounce of drowsiness, too, not wanting to be presumptuous and open whatever door there is expecting a guest room on the other side of it. Otherwise, you’re gonna be sleeping uncomfortably the whole night on her couch.

You could ask her where the guest room is, sure. But after that banter? You’d rather not speak. After all, this is only a night of being this near her.

3 minutes...

5 minutes…

‘Oh my gods…I wanna sleep so bad…’

10 minutes have passed and between your occasional passing out, you heard Jinx stand up and turn off whatever she was watching. Still, drowsy, you scrambled to get up, silently following her to wherever she was going.

She abruptly stopped in front of an open bedroom, making you bump against her. You mumbled an ‘ow’ before looking at the girl who seemed to be confused as to why you were following her.

“What?” You asked, still rubbing your forehead from the impact. She tilted her head, “Why are you tailing me to my room, huh?” She asked. You laughed, “Good joke, Jinx. I know a guestroom when I see one.” You walked inside the bedroom, a hint of surprise at how messy it looked, “You surely don’t clean your guest bedroom, huh.”

Jinx scoffed, “That’s because this is my room, genius. So why don’t you get out and go back to that little couch of yours, hm?” She gave you a sickeningly sweet smile, annoyed at the sight of you in between the clutter of her room.

You gasped, almost too dramatically, “You want me to spend the rest of the night sleeping on the couch? Hell no!” You crossed your arms, persistent in standing your ground, “You can’t even offer your guest a bed? And here I thought you could get any worse!”

Jinx chuckled before walking towards you, “Well, I give my guests a bed sometimes, too…y’know. I’m not that cruel.” She replied, reveling in the way your brows furrowed, “Then give me a bed. I need a rest you psycho.”

“I only give them a bed if I spend a little alcohol with them and we end up on my bed, genius. And…” She eyed you, a smirk on her face, “You’re not my type.”

‘Oh.’

You immediately turned your back to her, retreating to wherever you dozed off earlier, “I’ll sleep on the couch. Enjoy your…uhm…bed or whatever.”

You can hear her laugh at the way you got flustered. You even heard her say a mocking ‘goodnight’ before her door closed. Good, now this is the part where you suffer.

You sighed, sitting on the couch. You had better sleep in campings than this. Not to mention how cold it is. Yep, this is it. This is where you probably die from hypothermia.

You don’t remember how long you’ve been asleep but you were awoken by somebody shaking you awake, “Hey, doll. Get up. Why do you sleep like a fucking cat?” You groaned, stretching as you sat up.

You saw Jinx standing in front of you, her hair unbraided. You almost didn’t even recognize her, “Get up. You’re getting the bed.” You chuckled, the drowsiness not leaving you, “I am not sleeping with you, idiot.”

The blue-haired girl groaned before pulling you up and pulling you to her room, “Well, neither do I, genius. I’m sleeping on the floor.”

You sat on her bed, staring at her as she prepared her pillows and blankets. In a way, you felt bad. You’re not entirely heartless either. You sighed, “Jinx, I get it. I was a bitch. You don’t need to do all that to make me feel guilty.”

Jinx rolled her eyes, “Wow, toots. Am I really that bad? Maybe I just want to help out your sorry ass. I’m not really in the mood for seeing someone freeze to death in my living room.”

“Thanks.” You replied, still feeling a tinge of guilt.

“Yeah, you better be.”

You fell silent for a while. The only sound was the rain and the occasional thunder that still surprised you. You can hear Jinx chuckle every time she notices you flinch. The latter was silent the whole time except for the occasional remarks of how you’re such a scaredy cat. She seemed to be focusing on brushing out the tangles that her braids left behind on her hair. When you actually see her like this, not when fighting someone, or causing some trouble…you can say she’s pretty.

“Like what you’re seeing?”

You averted her gaze, focusing on something else but her. You cleared your throat, “What? No.” You replied. It was a lie. And you’ve always been terrible at it.

She giggled, “Awh…come on, doll. It wouldn't hurt to admit.” You heard her move and in a second, she made you look at her. Instead of her usual harsh grips, this one’s gentler in comparison, “You are terrible at lying, you know that, right?”

She’s right. You can’t really deny it at this point. With Jinx in close proximity like this, you can smell that minty perfume she’s wearing. Her pink eyes seemed to taunt you every second. And those lips of hers that formed her signature smirk. You hate to admit it but yeah, she is pretty.

“Do you get a little kick when I admit you’re pretty?” You replied, taking her hand that continued to rest on your chin. She hummed, leaning closer, “You are insufferable, y’know that?”

‘Why is she so close…’

You fear that she could hear your heart beating with how loud it’s been booming in your ears, “You’ve called me that many times now, Jinx. Pick a better insult.” She only laughed, maintaining that short and absolutely tempting distance between the two of you, “Well, have I called you pretty before, genius?”

You scoffed, masking down the way she made you flustered with just that, “Taking a liking on me now?” She hummed, brushing the piece of your hair that fell, “And what if I do? You gonna do anything about that, doll?”

Wait…what?

You let out a nervous chuckle, confusion was evident in your eyes which she seemed to notice, “You’re pretty and snarky, and a bitch. It’s honestly not hard to notice you.” Oh god…this is definitely a dream, isn’t it?

But no. No matter how many times you inwardly screamed at yourself to wake up, you’re still here. Inches away from Jinx, her eyes burning holes through you. You wanted to say something, anything at all, “I…I think you’re pretty, too.”

‘What the actual fuck was that?’ You thought, mentally facepalming at how much of an embarrassment you are. Jinx giggled, “Oh really?”

You sighed. There’s really no going back to this, huh?

“Well…yeah. I only really ever hated you because of how much you piss me off when you steal my chance to answer in recitations.” It was an embarrassing reason to hate someone, you admit that. But it really did piss you off for quite a long time, “And bout the bitchy part I’m sorry…I really didn’t mean to come off like that.”

Jinx laughed, sitting beside you, “Okay, okay! Calm down genius.”

You sighed, “And also about the project, oh my god, I really am sorry I shouldn't have pressed any random buttons knowing you’re so much better than me at those things. Really, if I had a car I wouldn't burden you by staying in your house but I have no choice, and I—”

Her kiss was enough to shut you up.

You were surprised, of course you are. It’s not every day that you get kissed by Jinx, the person you absolutely used to hate, on her bed, on a rainy night.

It’s shocking but it’s not reason for you to return the kiss, too. Maybe, in a way, you’ve been vying to know what her lips felt like against yours.

It wasn’t long until your blue-haired companion broke the kiss, “Would you still kiss me if I told you I’m the one that slashed your tires?”

Her laughter is contrasted by your shock. But in a while, you just sighed. Yeah, it did make sense that she’s the one who did it. You just laughed before pulling her close, “Fuck yeah I would.”

The next morning, Jinx woke up alone. Typically, she’d immediately think that whoever was in her bed last night was rude enough to not even say goodbye. However, the smell of freshly cooked bacon reaching her room debunked that thought of hers.

She groaned, stretching out the remaining tiredness and drowsiness, “Fuck…what time is it.” Her hands reached out to the bedside table, expecting her phone but her hands caught on a paper instead.

‘Hey, idiot! I left early for class, and I made sure to make you breakfast. See ya later <3’

You huff out a sigh. “Why are we even still here? To suffer? For sleep deprivation… Yeah, it has to be that.”

You stand (or in this case, slump) at your post at the cash register, watching for any would-be customers to walk into the little derelict convenience store that you (and three others) happened to be working at this evening.

There are heavy doubts running through your mind on that topic however. There can’t be anyone bold, brave or dumb enough to waltz out of their dorms or homes to visit this place in the dead of night.

You sure as hell wouldn’t, it’s just not safe and you have no magic to protect yourself with and what you do have can be impractical at best. But that’s under regular circumstances.

This is your job, your place of work. You get paid to basically stand around, clean and stock when necessary among other things from 11:00pm to 5:00 am. The pay for that alone is good enough to pay for you and Grim’s living expenses and then some, so you have no real reason to quit or complain despite the lack of sleep.

Ruggie snickers from his seat by a humming crt tv. “We can suffer later. Right now, time is money.” He’s one of the aforementioned coworkers mentioned earlier. Ruggie is your senior here as he’s been working here as a side gig since his freshman year.

He is fun to work with and make dealing with difficult customers a breeze. Never a dull moment with him.

“But is money worth more than the decay of my immortal soul? I can feel myself about to give up the ghost from boredom,” you groan.

“Die with a substantial bank account to your name, then complain about your life going nowhere,” Ruggie sniffed, turning his attention back to the tv.

“What would be the point of having a lot of money if you're dead? Would our money transfer to the spirit realm as well or… ?” Deuce pondered, looking out a window.

Deuce is another coworker of yours, he started working here about the same time as you did. You remember mentioning something about blowing through his allowance after starting at NRC. That being the reason for him working with you to begin with.

Ruggie flicks the crt to a different channel and says, “I’ve seen ghosts work around campus dozens of times, so there has to be some sort of monetary system in the afterlife.”

Your face scrunches up. “Ruggie, that sounds awful, what’s the point of working when you're dead? I thought earthly possessions wouldn’t matter in death?”

“Shishishi, just because you're dead doesn’t mean no the grind stops, y/n,” Ruggie said, voice mirthful.

“Deuce, tell this fool that what he said sounds awful. I know you agree with me here.”

Deuce answers with a so-and-so gesture and continues to look out the window.

You make a stricken, pained sound and lean back with extra flair, “Not even my BEST FRIEND is going to side with me on this? I knew I should have worked fast food with Ace, he would never let me down like this!” You don’t mean that last part, working fast food sucks, Ace being there wouldn’t change that.

Deuce looked at you flatly and countered,“You hate the fast food industry and Ace having your back is a pipe dream,” before looking out the window. Again.

You didn’t even have a good comeback for that burn and the fact he saw through you so easily slightly pissed you off. There goes the neighborhood, seven help you, this is not how that conversation is going to end.

“He’s right ya’ know, I wouldn’t be caught dead hanging out with that blockhead Ace!” Grim yowled.

Your third coworker is Grim. He doesn’t actually work here like you do, he’s just moral support technically. But he has an adorable little clerk costume and you just couldn’t leave him at home. He makes himself useful by being adorable and helping out with your other duties.

“So it wasn’t you making biscuits on Ace’s shirt the other day?” An image of Grim sleepily pawing away at Ace’s shirt comes to mind. Too cute for words actually. But if you had to describe it… Well— it was really cute.

“No! You’re talking crazy, I would never— not with Ace, no!” Grim vehemently denied.

Deuce, voice full of amusement, says, “I have a photo. Is that proof enough?”

Grim’s attention snaps to the blue haired male. Panicked, he yells, “Delete it or say goodbye to your eyebrows!” Fire was already gathering at his mouth.

Deuce laughed and shook his head. “The photo’s a physical one. If you want it you’ll have to go to Heartslabyul for it.”

“And that requires going through Riddle first~,” Ruggie sing-songed.

Grim curls into a sad loaf on the counter, thoroughly dejected. You kind of feel bad for him, only a little bit though, the little turd kinda deserves it.

You sigh to yourself and leave from your spot behind the counter, joining Deuce in looking out the windows. “No, customers tonight I guess.”

“Seems like it. That’s good for us but do you think that they will show up tonight?” Deuce replied, voice tense.

Right, them. The other part of your job description. Something that could be classified as laborious at best and plain annoying worse. They appear almost every night right around 3:00 am. In your humble opinion you’re actually kinda hoping they show up. School’s been horrible lately and you’re just dying to get physical with someone in all honesty.

“They might, and if they do I have an enchanted cleaver with their names on it.” You respond flippantly.

Your hand unconsciously reaches towards your waist. At your side, a messenger bag hangs loosely from your waist alongside and on it is a set of charms, one in particular was a cartoony cleaver-shaped pin with a violet colored gem embedded into its hilt.

The fruits of your labor after being stuck at a magic school for over half a year. It’s surprising how much you can do with potions, alchemy and enchantment, all of which don’t require you to have any natural magic of your own. Safe to say no one or thing can come close to what you can do or make.

Deuce looks down at where your hand was resting and grimaces, “Yeah, seven save anyone who crosses your path.”

“Damn straight.”

Almost as soon as you said that, the all-to-familiar sound of alarms accompanied by flashing lights went off throughout the store, jolting everyone’s attention. Deuce slaps a hand to his head as if his innocent comment earlier caused this to happen. You put a reaffirming hand on his shoulder.

“I guess we’ll be working for our pay today then,” Ruggie said, pulling out his magic pen and a machete, “and here I thought today would be easy.”

“Nothing’s ever easy here! I can never get a good nap in peace.” Grim grumbled floating over to you.

“You’re not even supposed to be napping on the job to begin with, Grim. But I’ll tell you what, how about after this I buy you some fatty tuna for your troubles, huh? But if you really want the good stuff you’ll have to fight for it.” You say, placatingly.

“It better be the good stuff or else I’m not doing jack diddly! And I want some salmon roe and maki rolls too!” Grim pumps up his little paws and bobs up and down, thoroughly pumped up. “Those creepers won’t know what hit them!!”

“That’s the spirit!” You snatch off the cleaver shaped charm and with a sharp ‘creeeee’ sound a large, elongated cleaver manifests in your hand. You twirl it about in one hand feeling readjusting to its familiar weight before turning to your friends.

“Whoever has the lowest body count has bathroom duty next time, all in favor?”

Ruggie tosses the machete up then says, “Like hell it’ll be me, I do enough of that for Leona daily.”

Deuce now sporting an aluminum bat shakes his head with a self assured smile, “You sure you wanna take that bet? I heard that some nasty things happened there recently.”

Grim huffs. “You say that like my henchman will lose. Well I have news for you buddy, as long as they have me here we’re home free!”

“We’ll see about that.” He says, cracking his knuckles.

“Less talking, more walking, we have work to do.” You push open the doors to the increasingly familiar sights of hordes of inky creatures roaming about the plaza.

Sounds of machine guns, small explosions, and metal on metal pierced the quiet night (Idia and Ortho came to work today?), monster were decimated in droves as you exited the store leaving patches of gore on the pavement.

You’re in for a long night… and you can’t say your looking forward to cleaning this up later.

“Heads up!”

A decapitated head sores in your direction In all its grody glory, with great reflex you swing your weapon like a bat and with a sickening crunching sound the head flew into a nearby explosion.

“Yeah, a long night indeed.”

Part 1 Briefing

"Keep going. Haven't got all day." It's been like this since you arrived. It's your first day at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaplex. When you spotted the job offer as a security guard on the internet, you didn't hesitate long and sent off an application. Even though you didn't know at the time if it was going to work out. But here you are now, running after your co-worker - who has been a bit grumpy since the beginning and briefly introduced himself as Jeff to you - and receiving a briefing from him, which he seems very reluctant to give. "There are two things you absolutely must remember," he tells you. "Never lose your name tag. Always carry it with you while you're in the building. That thing has a chip with your employee ID. The animatronics and bots have facial recognition, but with that thing, they'll recognize you as an employee even from a good distance away, and they'll leave you alone when you're making your rounds at night." "Okay, got it." Somehow he sounded constantly exasperated. You force yourself to smile and nod politely in order not to upset your future co-worker even more. And yet, his expression only turns grimmer.

"The second thing is this," he reaches for something in his jacket pocket and shoves it into your hand as you both continue to walk through the aisles. It looks like a black tablet. Curious, you hit the power button and the screen comes to life. But what is displayed there isn't too impressive. Just four options are shown to you on the screen, two of those options are just for locking and unlocking the remaining functions. Currently, the remaining symbols are unlocked. "The bell lets you set off silent alarms within the facility. During the day, if there's trouble, a couple of the security bots will come rolling in. Not that the blockheads are any help. Better not rely too much on them. At night, it will also notify the security program. You can just let them do the rest of the work." "That freak," you hear your Jeff mutter under his breath before he continues. "So assess the situation. Sound the alarm if necessary, and in an absolute emergency, call the police on one of the phones. Got it so far?" "Uh. Yes. Yes! Got it. Although… I do have one more question. What's the other symbol for? This… lightning bolt?" At least it looks like the typical symbol that usually warns you about electricity. "Hah! That thing is linked to the nighttime security program. If for some reason it doesn't respond to the alarm or otherwise gives you trouble, just give it a controlled shock with this." Pardon? A shock? Baffled, you stare at your co-worker before asking in utter confusion, "You want me to… shock the system?" that sounded… not like something you should do with technical equipment. Your colleague, however, just waves it off. As if your concerns are just annoying flies he has to deal with. "Not the system itself. When talking about the security program, it means one of the animatronics. From the daycare. The one that looks like a moon. You know." You didn't. You didn't read anything about a moon shaped animatronic on the website. You only know the four band members of the Pizzaplex, who each had their own little profile on the official website. So… the extra guard is an animatronic that resembles a moon? Well that just adds more concerns to your mind about this bizarre function. It feels like you're being told to shock one of your co-workers and not worry about the consequences. Not a good feeling. Jeff is probably just exaggerating… So far, you haven't heard him say a good word about anyone or anything. You want to give him the tablet back, but he just waves you off. "I was supposed to hand it to you anyway. It's my last day in this madhouse here." That surprises you. Somehow you thought you'd run into each other more often. Now to hear that you're basically his replacement for the job is kind of a weird feeling. No wonder he's so disinterested and allows himself a few pointed remarks. "Oh, okay." Guess you will keep it then. Well, at least you won't have to bother with getting along with him by hook or crook. You take a deep breath and lock the functions on the pad first, if only to avoid the risk of a false alarm or an accidental shock, before turning it off and putting it away.

You continue your walk around the facility. Jeff barely pauses. Now that you know he's quitting today, you can already guess that he just wants to get this whole thing over with quickly, and you're not too mad at him for that, either. If you finish earlier, you can at least take a look at the places that seemed interesting to you. Eventually, you end up with him standing inside one of the employee break rooms. It's a pretty small room. An old sofa. A table, three chairs, a few metal lockers that already look a bit battered and scratched. Nothing particularly exciting. Jeff is already digging out his bag from one of the lockers and looks like he's ready to leave any second. "Understood everything so far?" "Oh. Yeah. Yeah I guess," you reply hastily and it seems to be the answer he wants to hear from you. "And… thanks again for the tour and the advice." "Just following my orders," he merely grumbles, giving you a look like he's feeling sorry for you for some reason. "Hope you've got good nerves. Gonna need them here." You don't bother to ask what he is referring to, because he's already out the door and you don't feel like chasing after him. So you just shout a little goodbye after him. It's probably nothing after all. Your eyes wander to the clock on the wall and realize that it can't possibly be three o'clock, which is why you look at your phone instead. It's half an hour before closing time. During the week, the Pizzaplex was only open until 21:30. So slowly the last visitors were surely on their way to the main entrance to leave the building, before in half an hour the doors and shutters were closed automatically. That should give you some more time to look through the documents you got at the beginning. Various safety regulations. Locations of fire extinguishers in the different areas of the complex, where to find the emergency exits, what to do in case of a fire, the usual stuff that new employees are given to read through.

By now it's half past nine and you decide to make your first official round. Even if it makes you a little nervous that you will be on your own. And that is what the Glamrocks are to the kids, who come here with their parents to just see them. The thought makes you smile a little. Speaking of the Glamrocks… maybe you'll run into your non-human colleagues on your walk and finally get a chance to properly introduce yourself to them! Earlier with Jeff, you only saw some of them when passing by. But the band members had been completely surrounded by their cute, little fans and you had moved past them so quickly that you hadn't even been able to wave to them a hello. By now with a little more confidence, you fish out the map you received with the rest of the documents and leave the break room with it to set off on your big, exciting expedition! Without any nagging, bad vibes or rushing. You grin a little, because you are now somehow looking forward to being allowed to roam around here without worrying about what some grouchy co-worker thinks of you. "So let's see where to go first."

(This has been gathering dust in my queue so most of these may be a bit outdated but I'm posting it anyway for future reference too, hehe ^^;;)

To give you the short answer, my current top faves are: Solomon, Simeon, Barbatos, Luke, Raphael, and Satan.

I'm a HUGE side character enthusiast so most of my faves are among them. It's pretty obvious that Barbatos is one of my faves but despite all the tiny barbs I've been posting, my most favorite character is actually Solomon, which is also why I proposed a tiny sol series in this post. As for why I like him, I once sent @/everlasting-elegy an excruciatingly long ask about it so here's a link (Though you probably already know the extent of my simping XD)

For the others (just some crumbs because it would get way too long otherwise):

• Diavolo may be the next in line to the throne but he's someone who has the heart of a child and just wants to have fun, which is why he appreciates that you wouldn't walk on eggshells around him

• Barbatos has this air of mystery around him which makes you want to investigate what's beneath the surface and his formal facade, where you would find a sense of longing for your presence

• Luke is an innocent ball of sunshine who'd immediately brighten up your day once you see him smile

• Now where do I even begin with Simeon— he has the ability to smoothly deescalate difficult situations, his writing career is admirable, he's funny especially when it comes to dealing with technology, and he's literally an angel

If you were to ask me about the demon brothers, I think they're all charming in their own ways, too. Here are some of the many stuff I like about them below:

Lucifer often refuses to admit it, but he cares a lot for his brothers (and you, of course)

Mammon is probably the sweetest and most loyal despite occasionally being a blockhead (which also makes him more endearing in a way)

Levi is that one friend who you can share your interests to (and I relate to him because I tend to ramble a lot about stuff I like when I get the chance, too)

Satan, being the only pure demon among them, is painfully aware of the fact that you and him are of different worlds and races yet he loves you anyway (His HDD '21 UR card says it all)

Asmo has the ability to see the best traits in people even back when he was an angel and he'd probably be the one to pamper you the most whenever you're feeling down

Beel is a pure sweetheart who probably gives the best bear hugs and always makes sure that you're eating well

Belphie would make a great napping buddy and I don't really hate him for what happened in Lesson 16 because 1.) he's a demon after all and 2.) he did it out of a snowballed resentment towards humans since they lost Lilith in the Great Celestial War (I'm still a bit bitter about the fact that things somehow immediately went back to normal when they found out that we're Lilith's descendant, though)

As for the 3 future dateables:

• Thirteen seems like the type of friend you'd spill all your tea to and her chaotic energy makes her fun to be with (she's also quite the tsundere!)

• Mephisto has a caring side to him; likely because he has a younger brother of his own and I'd love to see the character development on how he'll accept us as a human in the Devildom

• Raphael, despite often being sarcastic and aloof, is a dedicated angel and always looks out for everyone, especially Simeon (he's also pretty funny at times)

They're all lovable in their own ways and I don't really despise any of them.

I've perused a bit of your blog and would love to hear more about your approach to myth. Do you take mythos literally, metaphorically, or somewhat in between? What historical factors do you consider in your interpretations? How does your understanding of the myths affect your relationships with the gods?

I haven't seen your approach widely expressed before, so I thought I'd ask!

I won’t lie, anon, I’ve been eagerly anticipating an ask like this! :) For the sake of time, though, I’m going to be limiting this post a great deal by discussing my approach to Greek mythology specifically as it’s seen via the medium of literature. The reason being that the visual arts and epigraphic record are beasts in their own right.

When I’m working through Greek mythological texts, I always begin by separating ancient material from modern retellings. Most Greek mythology books I’ve encountered are a mishmash of unsourced Greek and Roman works, which is doubly frustrating when the authors don’t distinguish between periods, regions, or genres.

I then begin sorting out all the primary sources I’ve collected. Not every antiquitous source is created equal. For instance, a writer from the Hellenistic or Roman Imperial period isn’t going to know nearly as much as Homer or Hesiod when it comes to Archaic Greek religion. After sorting the material by period and region, I break it down even further by establishing the genre. Mediums like comedy and tragedy have to be handled carefully since they satirize and exaggerate ancient Greek mythology.

That said, where does Greek mythology even come from? If you were to ask the ancient historian Herodotos, he would tell you that “I think that Homer and Hesiod were older than I by 400 years and no more, and they are the ones who created the divine genealogy for Greeks, gave epithets to the gods, distributed their offices and their crafts and marked outward appearances” (Histories). Quite a few modern scholars are loosely inclined to agree with him. Walter Burkert tells us how “the Library of Apollodoros to a large extent repeats the Hesiodic Catalogues” (Greek Religion, pg. 6) and that this clearly shows an impressive level of mythological continuity from the Archaic to Hellenistic period.

This, of course, is a very broad, generalized explanation for the origins of Greek mythology. Virtually all ancient Greek historians agree that the gods and their mythologies existed long before either Homer or Hesiod. If anything, Homer and Hesiod’s works are culminations of an oral and religious tradition that had been well-established long before their time. Like hundreds, if not thousands, of years before their time.

Unlike ancient theatrical takes on Greek mythology, the Archaic Epic Cycle and Hesiod’s Theogony are said to have been divinely inspired by their respective authors. I’ve already touched on divine inspiration as it’s seen in Homer, so let’s focus on Hesiod.

Hesiod tells us “Here are the words the daughters of aegis-bearing Zeus, / the Muses of Olympos, first spoke to me. / ‘Listen, you country bumpkins, you pot-bellied blockheads, / we know how to tell many lies that pass for truth, / and when we wish, we know to tell the truth itself.’ / So spoke Zeus’s daughters, masters of word-craft, / and from a laurel in full bloom they plucked a branch, / and gave it to me as a staff, and then breathed into me / divine song, that I might spread the fame of past and future, / and commanded me to hymn the race of the deathless gods, / but always begin and end my song with them” (Theogony, 24–34).

Hesiod goes out of his way to tell his listeners that the Muses—the goddesses of ultimate memory and divine inspiration—know how to tell many lies that pass for truth, as well as the truth itself. This line has been instrumental to me and my worship. I’ve always interpreted it as them saying that they don’t necessarily tell the ultimate truth, and instead tell us mortals what the gods want us to regard as true. This leaves room for free thought and regional mythological variations. These variations are sometimes regarded as contradictory, but “These kinds of discrepancies must be admitted and respected because polytheism, . . . has the potential to adapt the figures of its gods and to modify their representation according to the requirements of the specific context and using its own specific language” (The Hera of Zeus: Intimate Enemy, Ultimate Spouse, pg. 297).

I think that Panhellenic legends are especially unique in this regard because they suggest that, sometimes, the gods want us to know only one consistent truth. An example of this would be the abduction of Persephone by Haides. Regardless of what genre or medium you look to, there is not a single antiquitous source discussing the beginnings of their marriage that excludes her violent kidnapping.

Turning back around to me and my approach to Greek mythology, I don’t consider myself a literalist, nor am I exactly an allegorist. When it comes to mythological literalism, I don’t think it’s possible. Dogmatism is inherently incompatible with the open system that is polytheism, and we know too much about religious variety to be able to take such a strict approach. I’m not an allegorist either, because taking a metaphorical or archetypical approach is similarly limiting and doesn’t account for the Greek cosmologies or aetiological myths. Allegorism can also be used to explain away the gods by reducing them to simply being metaphors for phenomena in nature, which I don’t at all agree with.

I don’t use Greek mythology as a means of supplementing my understanding of recorded history or science. It’s hard to explain how exactly it plays into the many different aspects of my life and thought process, but that could be because my religion permeates all facets of my being. I can say with certainty, though, that mythology has informed my understanding of the divine genealogy of the gods, their epithets, offices, crafts, and outward appearances.

Banri x S/O General Dating Headcanons

Banri is exactly the type of boy your parents and friends would warn you about.

He’s what some people would call a triple threat. He has the brains, the looks, and the skills, and one glance is enough to just know he could be bad news.

However, contrary to that first look -maybe second or fourth according to others- Banri is… well, normal.

Maybe even soft.

Because sure, he loves to endlessly poke fun at you and flirts more often than not.

But he’s also the one who mindlessly puts you on the inside part of the road when you two are walking and glances lazily to see if you have your jacket on when it’s gotten cold.

It’s the small gestures like those that let you know he cares, given that heart to heart talks aren’t really his forte yet -you can’t help but think being with everyone in Mankai has been a blessing in so many ways-.

So yeah, this guy will tease you, but he’s also preeeetty whipped for you.

Which means he doesn’t really care what others think. If he wants to kiss you he will, though he’s most likely to do it when you two are alone or when you show up during autumn troupe rehearshals because let’s be honest, Taichi and Azami do have the best reactions.

Aside from theatre and games, Banri is still quite lazy, so you better like to explore and try new things on your dates just as much as your usual coffee date ones.

Sometimes you two will also have study dates... though not a lot of studying goes on.

I like to think that Banri enjoys ruffling your hair when you do a good job quite often. It doesn't matter if you tell him to stop or frown at him, he will do it next time anyway.

Though he's not especially affectionate physically, he tends to put his weight on you and sling his arm around your shoulders a lot. If you are visiting the dorm, his eyes also follow you around, not that I think he himself notices.

Given the case, most people would think he’s overprotective or jealous, but Banri is pretty chill about the whole dating thing and being together full time. You gonna meet with some friends? Enjoy yourself. Too tired or busy to come to one of his plays? He’ll tell you if anything special happened, no rush.

He hears someone made you uncomfortable however and you might want to hold onto him because his hands like to get to the point quicker than his mouth.

If we talk about the downsides of the relationship, just like I believe he somehow manages to remember many small details about you, he also tends to forget mundane things like meeting with you somewhere if he has other things on his mind or is busy.

His arrogance also rises from time to time, which might cloud his vision if you two are having a discussion -probably making things escalate rather quickly due to his own lack of filter or not being used to admitting he’s wrong.

Muku low-key thinks you two do the best version of enemies to lovers he's ever seen. You two keep roasting each other any chance you get.

"Taichi, can you tell that selfish tacky leader of yours if he’s not going to watch anything he should stop changing the stupid channel?"

Putting those moments aside however, I do think Banri has matured since his beginnings and in general you two can pretty much talk about anything.

If there’s anything troubling you Banri will for suuuure know before you say anything to him. I believe he will wait or in any case will be subtle, waiting for a moment with you alone to nonchalantly ask if you have anything on your mind lately.

I think he’s a really good listener and probably will do his best to be there for you, even if it’s to just listen to you venting though I do think he will feel extremely over-challenged if you were to cry.

" -hey come on, I can steal some sweets from Hyodo if ya want somethin’ to eat somethin' real quick? My pleasure really."

On the other hand, it's not easy to have him open to you, and you soon find out that showing anything else other than perfection for him is the same as thinking he's lame.

I believe as much as he might want to, it reeeeeally would take a long time until he confides you his trouble. By that I mean his real troubles. What to do in the future, his work as a troupe leader or what's expected from him in general.

Because part of Banri still finds it strange to have someone that loves all of him. And while he's too prideful to say something cheesy, maybe you get the idea.

Headcanon - Levi’s teahouse

I’m still coping with chapter 139, don’t judge me... 

Also, I’m not a native speaker so ya know, deal with it... :D 

Levi opened a small teahouse in the port after he physically recovered from that shitshow. It was more like a group effort really since he didn’t feel like doing anything for months and it was that teahouse project that actually got him out of his letargy. Connie, Jean, Reiner, Pieck, Annie and Armin more or less pushed him into it and helped him set it up.

Levi got a small property in the port which was nothing much in the beginning, just an old ugly house reaking of old cabbage and dirt. But one day the younglings showed up and helped him clean it up - and it was A LOT of work.

Jean coated the walls with the perfect shade of dark green. Connie brought the furniture couple of weeks later since he got into woodwork as a hobby after the war. Than Reiner showed up and provided Levi with a bunch of crooked teapots since he decided to try a pottery class as a part of his therapy. Levi was suspicious that they all ganged up on him with the teahouse project as a part of HIS therapy but they were all so casual about it that he decided to be chill about it.

Reiner later opened a small pottery business close to Levi’s teahouse and brought him more cups and pots - each of them better than the one before, with the most delicate floral paintings made by his mum. Pieck stopped by one day and brought with her the most adorable tea warmers she knitted. Levi would never admit that to her but he admired her pattern since he was not able to knit himself now with his two fingers missing.

One day a cart stopped by, bringing bunch of carpets, books and other treasured possesions from the previous Survey Corps headquarters. Apparently, Armin pulled some strings to had it delivered there. Armin came with Annie a couple days later to help Levi unpack only to find the captain sleeping in his wheelchair burried under a pile of Hange’s notes, Erwin’s reports and Moblit’s doodles. They left the captain sleep and unpacked it without him. Levi later woke up and instructed them to put some of the books into shelves on the walls - that way any visitor who comes into the teahouse would have access to it, he said.

Not long after that, Connie stopped by and brought Levi an empty wooden sign with a chain. At that time Levi KNEW they all plotted this teahouse diversion for him to stop being depressed and alone but he had to admit that their plan had worked. He was really kinda glad he had something to work on. And so Levi spent days by painting all the letters to his liking and asked Onyankopon to help him hang it in the street above the newly coated door.

He named the place ‘Teas of freedom’. Occasionally Levi calls it a shithole since it’s in the port and sometimes the smell from the streets gets in. Secretly he doesn’t mind though because it reminds of Hange’s lab.

He was really touched by all that effort everybody put into it, especially after Nicolo got to the port with the news of a great deal for tea delivery. Levi decided that any of them can have tea on the house any time they show up and any time they need a place to crash, to calm down or to contemplate, his teahouse would be always opened for them.

On the opening day everybody came and Levi got the best fruit pastries in the town and gave each of them a slice - a gesture that none of them understood but all of them appreciated. The pastries brought back the memories of the Survey Corps and Levi thought of all his fallen comarades when he saw all the remaining folks he fought with on that day sitting around tables, drinking tea and jokingly talk about their lives. It would seem that Reiner was still pinning for Historia and Armin asked Annie to marry him. Jean was really popular among the local ladies but everybody kept teasing him about his horse face. Well, everybody but Pieck. It was strange that she was the only one who did not join on the joke. Levi made a mental note to himself to keep an eye on those two. Hange would surely enjoy that piece of gossip.

In the teahouse, there are pictures of all the veterans on the walls. Some of them are Moblit’s paintings that Levi got framed, some of them he commisioned by a local artist who was firstly very excited to work with a war hero. That was before he discovered Levi’s perfecionalism. He than got really stressed out whenever Levi stopped by and commisioned a new painting. Nevertheless, the paintings are spot on and they make the teahouse look very homey. Above the counter there is a beautiful picture of Erwin, Hange, Mike, Nanaba and the whole Levi squad and Levi is extremelly proud of that one because the likeness of everybody is just perfect. Also, Connie made great frames for it. Armin once jokinly said that it’s too bad that there is no picture of 104th trainees squad as well. Little does he know that such a painting is already in the making and Levi intends it as a wedding gift for him and Annie next month.

On the wall above the door hangs Levi’s green coat and his blades crossed as a sign that the war is over for him. He likes looking at that from time to time since it reminds him of the good old days. He reads the paper every morning so he knows that the times are turbulant again but he hopes that it will not escalate this time. He wouldn’t admit it but he’s tired of fighting.

Levi lives in a small room behind the teahouse but spends most of his time outside. There is quite a large garden in the back of the house. Part of is accesible for guests with an old bench and a large log that Connie brought as a table, but part of it is private. There he grows flowers and stuff for his tea and he’s very proud of the selection of the herbs he has there. He used Hange’s notes to purchase some of them and she was right - they taste excellent when blended with the tea leaves.

It was surprisingly Mikasa who helped him set up the garden. She showed up one day in his backyard, digging in the dirt, saying nothing at all. He joined her and neither of them did speak. They planted seeds he bought previously on the market and the next day she showed up again, this time with some new flowers. They continued to work on the garden until it was all done. The last thing they did was planting a tree. Levi brought the seed from a forrest where he once wished he could stay with a women he loved and it brings him both sorrow and joy to see the tree grow. There is a seagul that often sits in the branches and Levi thinks it’s a bit weird but whatever, the place is close to the sea and there are seaguls everywhere. Some time ago he found a strand of red fiber under the tree - it looked suspiciously like from the Mikasa’s scarf which is weird because Mikasa hasn’t visited much since he opened the teahouse.

Gabi and Falco are both working in the teahouse since Levi is not much fond of interactions with people and he likes to prepare and brew the tea more than serving it. He has a wide selection of teas and the mysterious names are often a headscratcher for the new guests. When in a good mood, Levi is keen to explain the meaning behind the names. Lately, he’s been in a good mood more often than not which is a progress.

There is a peculiar tea which has a weird dirty color and smells like crap but tastes the most sweet. It’s called Four-eyes. There is also a tea served in a very tall cup that has a rich floral aroma that changes nicely in time. That one is called Mike’s selection. You can also get Erwin’s choice, which is the finest green tea you can get served with a breakfast. There is also Eyebrows, which is a blend of lovely golden color and Levi sometimes says that it’s against constipation. Noone knows if he’s joking or not. There is also one tea called Monke which reaks of shit and probably is made of shit as well. Noone knows because this tea is so notoriously known that noone orders it, ever. If you ask nicely and catch Levi on a good day he will serve you with his speciality called No regrets. Its smell will strike you with a sudden melancholy and when you drink it, it leaves you with a bittwersweet taste in your mouth.

The younglings don’t know that Levi secretly prepares some new flavors that he wants to name after them. Colossal tea is hot and spicy chilly drink with steam coming out of it and there is also a new blend that smells like stables - a special tea dedicated to Jean. There is one that smells like smoked meat and Levi thinks it would be suitable to name it the Braus special. There is also one special tea blend which is so strong that it almost blows your head off. Levi plays with a thought of naming it suicidal blockhead or a little brat. He thinks Hange would appreciate that joke. He plans to announce those new flavors next time he sees all of the kids again.

Since Reiner’s pottery business started booming, Levi asked him to make him two variations of teasets. You can now get a tea size human or titan. It’s a silly pun but everybody seems to like it.

Overall, the teahouse is a good place to be in and all the survivors visit everytime they get a chance. Armin and Annie promised to get there more one they finnish the wedding preparations. Reiner visits basically everyday after his work along with Onyankopon and they just sit there with Levi, drink tea and silently listen to Gabi and Falco who are always there with the newest town gossip. Also, Jean secretly plans to ask Pieck on a date there.

As for Levi, he likes the place enough. Yeah, it smells like shithole somethimes. But it’s a new home for him and it provides him with purpose and peace he never knew. In the room behind the teahouse he has a small bed and above it one more painting he commisioned. It’s a picture of a forrest cabbin with a women sitting in front of it. Levi insisted the artist painted her exactly like on Moblit’s sketches and he made the artist remake it several times until it was perfect. Everytime Levi looks at it it’s like a path to a different life, the one he could have taken but didn’t because the choice wasn’t really his. He doesn’t regret it though. He knows he will get there in time. But for now he has his teahouse. And with it finally, his new-found family and peace.

My thoughts regarding SnK chapter 139

Read at your own risk because my thoughts are all over the place and incoherent. 😅

So when the spoilers came out i innitially cringed a bit because of how cheesy the leakers made it sound due to the salt lol. After Korean raws came out, i liked the images. The art is phenomenal! After reading the official translation i am in love with it. ❤😭

It was so incredibly bittersweet, just like Isayama promised us.

The entire EreMin dialogue was heartwrenching and i said that if Eren pulls a Lelouch i will apologize for hating his character so much post TS. So i guess i have to apologize.

This dude was willing to turn himself into an absolute monster to ensure his friends have a bright future ahead of themselves. He believed that with him laying down the foundation and dirtying his hands to the point of being irredeemable they will be able to ceize their own future.

The story he told about Ymir and her motivation explains few things: Why she protected the king with her body, why she kept building the titans even after Eren seemingly freed her, why killing Zeke stopped the rumbling and why Eren told her "You're not a got nor a slave. Just a human being". He felt how strong her love for the king was and realized she is just a poor girl who was bound by her feelings.

Then we go to the talk about Mikasa and Eren reveals he has been in love with her that whole time, but kept it within because he knew their love is impossible, because he will have to die for their sakes. He completely bares his soul to Armin revealing his selfish, pathetic, Human side which i absolutely loved btw! But despite that he asks Armin not to tell her about it as he wants her to be happy, never wondering what if.. This also confirmed that the scene in 138 was in fact their shared dream and not "mikasa's delusion"..i hope antis die of embarassment now haha.

It is also revealed Mikasa's choice that time in 138 will lift the curse of the titans. Ymir was waiting for a girl who is deeply in love to show her how to break free and let go of her loved one.

This was what led Ymir to smile and finally free herself and remove the curse from the world.

It seems that everyone got their little talk with Eren, except Levi and Pieck. I think Eren was not sure what to tell Levi or maybe because Levi is an Ackerman, getting him to the paths was too much effort, considering he could only access Mikasa's mind only moments before his death.

In the end all their friends acknowledged his sacrifice (not the genocide!). Annie and Jean calling him suicidal blockhead for one last time made me sad and nostalgic. Annie showed she cared about him since trainee days... 🥲

Now we get to Levi's final goodbye and this was the moment i started crying. This man... He suffered so much, lost Everyone, destroyed his body just to make sure their deaths had meaning, but in the end it was all worth it, so he gave them a soft smile while shedding tears. Don't get me started on Hange being front and center ashdnkhdudjndnkxh

The warriors reunited with their loved ones, FaBi got to see each other again and their suffering also ended..

Armin's scene was such a great callback to trost arc.

It was sooo good. Also bonus Annie blushing at her husbando.

Three years later we see Queen historia with her beloved child who is now free from the titan curse, being happy and soft. She is probably much better mom than her own mother was

But she is also a Queen of the country who has become like a fascist dictatorship. 😬

Despite that, she retains her kindness for her friends, sheltering Jean's and Connie's families from the Yegerists. She is a strong, independent woman.

She writes her letter and tells Armin and co even if Eren was right about one side not being able to live in peace until the other is wiped out, he left Paradis in *their* hands, meaning Herself and The alliance. Which is why i believe the peace negotiations would go successfuly.

I am really digging Armin's speech here. Armin has been a chad this entire time heh.

And so we see Levi chilling in a wheelchair in Onyankopon's country, living the life, until a plane flies by and Onyankopon gives him that look. And he looks somewhat sad.

An anon pointed out that the bubble of "They'll want to know what we saw" being placed on Levi's panel is so poetic, because from 115 Levi only saw Hange and followed her lead to free humanity and i agree.

And finally we see Mikasa sitting by Eren's grave, waiting for everyone to join her. Her clothes and longer hair indicate she indeed became the same normal girl she was before she met Eren. She misses Eren, it's normal, but a bird comes by and wraps a scarf around her, making her smile and look happy which gives just the right amount of sweetness to the story.

My only complaint about the story comes from Bias. Yeah, Isayama killed Hange for seemingly no reason, but i think the reason was simple: He needed to portray two characters who love each other letting go of each other, of their dream to remain together forever for the sake of the world and create a parallel between Ymir and the king and Mikasa and Eren. As i said earlier, Hange didn't do it for fame or recognition, she did it so humanity could keep surviving and so Levi could see the world without walls that he talked about in front of her in uprising.

I think no matter what happens, Levi will Never forget them as long as he lives just like Mikasa will never forget Eren.

So i guess that's it.. I sincerely am grateful to Isayama for not letting me down with his story, for creating amazing, relatable, Human characters, for sending me on a rolercoaster of emotions every month and it was so many emotions from depression, to thrill, to happiness, to anger... 🥲

I think just like the editor said i will reread the story from the beginning and with the ending in mind. It should give me a whole new perspective!

Chapter 137, “Titans”, was one of the most polarizing chapters in recent memory, provoking strong reactions both positive and negative.  When we compiled the results, the chapter averaged 4.09 on a 1-5 scale, which places it 37th out of the 47 chapters we’ve ranked. No matter how you view it, it’s still a solid rating.

Zeke‘s reflection and death are my favorite panels in the manga. It lives rent free in my mind. This is my favorite chapter of the manga so far.

I liked how Isayama had Jean reuse the suicidal blockhead nickname

I loved seeing Levi take a sort of protective, fatherly role when helping Gabi take out the Okapi Titan. And seeing him finally fulfill his promise and vow to Erwin is refreshing and makes me feel happy.

I loved the conversation between Zeke and Armin. Zeke was always nihilistic, he saw life as dry and meaningless. Armin is on the opposite - he found the meaning of life in the little happy moments. He taught Zeke that life isn't only about multiplication , but about higher, happier and more spiritual things, like love, having fun or watching sunsets and sunrises. I'm glad that Zeke found his own meaning of life and understood that there was nothing wrong about him being born on this world and he would do it once again, if he had a chance. We can add their conversation to the list of the best conversations in the manga.

it was a great chapter, and Armin & Zeke's talk was the highlight for me.

Armin transforming and saying bye to Eren gave me absolute chills.

Looking back at that old sketch, it really does feel like the end of an era. 44.6% of respondents thought Zeke’s end was a good and poetic way to go out. 29% were sad to see him go but were glad he had some agency - even throwing out a last bit of sass at Levi! 12.4% didn’t like how it happened as it was somewhat sudden and maybe not as epic as it could’ve been. 7.6% question if it’s really the end for Zeke quite yet, and 6.4% have no strong opinions about it.

A fitting end for a great character

I think his ending was very poetic but could have been executed much better.

In terms of writing, he was the third best character in the post-time skip section of the story. He deserved a better ending.

10/10 character, one of my all time favourites. In theory, I like the idea of him sacrificing himself to stop Eren, but with the build up he had (mainly the way Grisha said he would save everyone) it was an extremely disappointing death.

I love him and via development. The thing is that the way he was killed was rushed as fuck and kinda killed my enjoyment of his last moments. If worked better, pretty sure I would have cried.

I really liked the way Zeke's character arc ended, and he remains one of my favorite characters in the series.

I've always found him interesting. I love how his role in the story evolved as time went on. One of the best characters in Attack on Titan.

I mean, when they released his flashbacks as a child, I already started sympathising with him. Also his paths adventure with Eren. But this chapter really solidified it for me. The guy was just a sad boy who wanted love and thought he was doing the right thing.

He was an "end justify the means " person. I don't like him still.

I mean... it was nice to see him realise that he wouldn't mind being born again, but I was still a bit miffed by the fact that he still believed that his euthanasia plan was the way to go (it sort of diluted the impact of the conversation between him and Armin). I've always enjoyed Zeke's character. Ever since picking up the manga after Season 1 what feels like an eternity ago and he's one of my favorite characters. That being said... This chapter made me dislike him a bit.

I loved Zekes character. Even as he attacked Paradis Island you could see his methodical viewpoint on their roles in all of this. He always was working the end game and their ability to not be used as pawns. We may not have always agreed with his path and believe me, there were moments I hated him. So many, but he also knew his moment in this time and what his role was. His death was a righteous one and I loved that Levi was able to fulfill his promise.

I thought his character was probably one of the best in the story, with a very well defined beliefs/viewpoint and a bunch of interesting characterwork.

I'm glad he got to understand that the world is beautiful before dying, I was angry because of all the things he did but chapter by chapter I came to realise  how sad his life was, he only had little moments to be happy and be a normal kid/person, I'm not justifying his actions but I'm not judging him either.

I love Zeke as a character. He is well written on his own and also has a drastic effect on a lot of characters. I think that Zeke realizing that there are other ways to look at life and his way was not the most convenient one makes the viewer realize that no one is wrong and no one is right. I think his death was pleasing enough and he look liked he didn't have major regrets in life, other than the one he discussed with Armin.

I liked Zeke's detached approach on humanity, as I completely relate with his philosophy during the conversation with Armin. Even though at first I was repulsed by his sociopathic tendencies (rip Mike) his character definitely stood out. Everything about him felt rational and original, and I still believe his plan was the most logical one. Great character.

I like Zeke, he was represented as a villain but like all the characters, he's the hero of his own story. He was strong, smart, and tried to stop massive killings. I loved his relationship with Levi too (even though he almost killed him) and I loved Levi's expression when he finally killed him. I expected him to die fighting, but I like how he went down.

i love the idea of zeke becoming a "optimistic nihilist" but didn't at all like how rushed it was executed.

I mean, it sure could've been explored more, but we have to take into account that Zeke had been in paths for a long time (maybe for what it felt like millions of years) and by that point he felt hopeless; his dream was no longer going to become a reality, he couldn't change anything and was trapped there forever, then Armin came and gave him a different perspective, he listened and found something of value in it while at the same time not completly discarding Xaver's ideology. This change is fine in principle. It's change from his idea of euthanasia and "better not be born" toward "eventhough life is suffering too, it's worth living". But it was rushed, it would have been more believable if the idea germinated in his mind. So between the Yes and No answer.

What change of heart, he was reminded from what he found happiness in life which he was enjoying subconscioulsy before aka playing catch. An activity he started enjoying as a kid. It was a game, something kids enjoy not a heavy burden of "saving everyone" as Grisha implanted onto him.

Zeke had this change coming - it was built up throughout the Paths chapters. The primary boogeyman figure of his life turned out to be a good man, and he apologised, turning his entire worldview upside down (not counting the whole "Stand, dad" thing) He had an eternity in Paths to process the events of ch120-122 (and maybe his entire life before that) multiple times over. Armin found him at his most vulnerable, betrayed and alone once more. Their debate back and forth, all done with mutual respect, was amazingly written. Armin showed him the way, gave him that one final nudge he needed in the right direction. It's perfectly believable, and fitting.

The passed came back from the past to lend the alliance a hand! Now this moment was a little controversial. 42.5% thought it was awesome seeing our old friends take control of their titans to save their loved ones. 29.9% liked what the scene was going for but thought it needed more setup or foreshadowing. 18.9% were not happy at all to see such a shonen scene in this manga. This chapter continued to showcase some more of the past Titan Shifters throughout the ages. What was most interesting of the past Titan Shifters that appeared in this chapter to fight the past alliance members was that some of the same Titan Shifters that appeared during Ymir's flashback in Chapter 122 can be seen fighting the Alliance in this chapter.

I thought it was interesting to finally have Freckled Ymir's description of being a mindless titan get touched upon again. She said that it was like a never ending nightmare. All the shifters Ymir and Eren summoned were asleep in that nightmare, until Zeke and Armin were able to wake them up, if only for a brief amount of time. There was a reason we saw Bertolt crying after Armin ate him. And we were only reminded again in Chapter 135 when Armin saw Bertolt crying again. I don't think these shifters gaining some of there consciousness back is an ass pull at all. We were given some bread crumbs to believe that at least dead shifters exist in some way in Paths after death.

On Levi killing Zeke, I feel like that's narratively sloppy and only serves as some shitty ass way to make Levi relevant, since there isn't really much to his character anymore. I'm still hoping that they can have a happy ending. The deserves it after all the fights.

I've heard so many different theories on how this series could end and now that we are on the final chapters almost nothing has gone with my expectations. I was blown out of the water with how this final fight went. With expectations for this series so high its impossible for it to satisfy everyone. But I'm really happy with how everything turned out. A lot of plot threads are being closed up in satisfying ways and I'm content with the character development everyone is getting.

There are a few things I've been disappointed about, like the lack of Eren's point of view. But I'll hold off judgment till the series ends. I think i'll enjoy rereading this section of the story once it's finished. I caught up with the manga around 117 and waiting monthly for these chapters was made everything seem longer that it probably actually was. Overall I'm happy with how everything went.

Zeke sort of reminds me of Johan from monster. both had a messed up asf childhood and life in general. both didn't find pleasures in life at all, like simple pleasures like tea or coffee to life and people. Because they knew for themselves life had no meaning. therefore both of them could do basically whatever they wanted sorta bc life had no meaning to them and was destined to go extinct if that makes sense. To them, their actions were justified bc they had no meaning in life. But armin, this hope in the world, also knew the world was cruel. however he chose to find pleasures in it rather than distrusting it all together. He found hope in his friends and reading and more, even if it meant getting hurt by people. I believe armin will talk. This chapter messed me up man. Zeke used to be my least favorite character cause he was weird but now he's one of my favs. His death was def one of the hardest for me. ugh what a beautiful chapter. I wish they all found meaning in life before.

Gabi has lots of potential, and it was smart to have her as a character study. I mean, not only do we get the perspective of a brainwashed child of war, but through her, it was shown that it's possible to end all conflicts through forgiveness. She is also a replacement for sasha (sharpshooter). Levi is no shooter, but I hope he takes Gabi, and/or the other war kiddies, under his wing. I hope Levi could find another purpose, and I'm imagining being a trainer/teacher best suites him. He cares a lot and gives good guidance with his experience and wisened words…

Honestly, I was always kinda neutral towards Zeke. Never really loved him, never really hated him. Hated what he did to the Scouts and subsequently to Erwin, but that hate really didn't last long. He was just kinda...there for me. He was an interesting character, and brought a lot to the series, but I guess it wasn't until the chapter with him and Eren as they went through his and their father's memories (the BIG chapter) that I started to warm up (?) to him. I don't know, it's hard to explain how I really felt about him overall. I will admit though, that his death, although very sudden with Levi coming out of nowhere lol, was impactful and I think a really poetic end for him. Him finally realizing the true meaning of living, seeing the beauty of their cruel world at the very end, and helping to bring an end to the Rumbling, left a very good impression on me. So, in the end...I liked Zeke. He was a good character.

Zeke and Armin's talk is... decent, I guess. Like everything in the final arc, it suffered from bizarre pacing issues, so while the core of the talk is decent, we essentially have Armin changing Zeke's entire worldview with 1 small speech. Then SUDDENLY DEAD PEOPLE COME BACK TO LIFE LEVI BEHEADS REINER HELOS ARMIN NUKE RUMBLING IS STOPPED... why the hell did we get two fanservice battle chapters just that all this gets stuffed into one?

I want Levi alive. So he can open his dream tea shop. I want him happy

Worst chapter of the entire series. If eren was actually defeated, and being defeated wasn't his intention, this chapter ruined the series and his character.

I sympathize for baby Zeke's struggles and the trauma he had to experience but honestly he ain't special in this manga, everyone has a sad fucking backstory. He was a pathetic little sadist, always puffed up about how Clever™ he was for double-crossing people and yet never seeing the obvious betrayal coming from Eren. I know the justification for that is "aw he cared for his baby brother uwu" but that was what made him so pathetic - for all his posturing about being smart and pragmatic for the Greater Good (which was his justification for the euthanasia plan) he was just as emotional and fallible as all the people he looked down on. His lack of self-awareness and depth of selfishness disgusts me. This ending was too good for him. He died as a martyr and he deserved much, much less. Tbf, for baby Zeke's sake, I am glad he got to see some happy memories of Xaver towards the end, but I thought his death was tasteless and a slap in the face of all the people he murdered before. (*ahem* Mike)

Zeke is honestly such a masterclass in character writing and it is so impressive that Isayama has written so many amazing characters. I started out really hating Zeke for what he did to Miche, and that impression carried for a long, long time, even until it was revealed that he had his own agenda, that he might be playing the long game helping Eldians, I didn't believe it because of what he did to Miche. In fact, it was Eren's cooperation with Zeke that made me turn on Eren post-timeskip. When we got that hint of Zeke backstory, I was actually kind of miffed. Like no way, Isayama, you're not going to make me sympathize with Zeke. Not happening. Yet, after I read the chapter, my thoughts were Grisha is a shit dad. Absolute shit dad. Anyway, I was still glad Eren bested Zeke in Paths, though once the Rumbling activated, I realized that I agreed with Zeke's plan better. So he's really become an interesting character for me, and I was even really excited to see him return at the end of last chapter. I still don't like him very much, but he is incredibly compelling and interesting, and I'm definitely a bit more forgiving of his earlier actions. Miche's death still sucked though.

Zeke is one of the most well written character of all time

Zeke is so fucked up, but he's hilarious and extremely meme-able. He's a tragic, well-written character who committed monstrous acts. If he didn't die here, he should have been locked up for the rest of his life.

Zeke is such a underrated but sad character. He truly taught his plan was the best Eldians. He was brain wash from his own parents and send them into pure titans, while his half brother had a normal childhood. In the end, he sacrificed himself to defeat Eren.

Zeke is super smart and very strong man ; he was defending his own past and his own sadness ; but he lost when he tried to follow his wrong feeling of sympathy toward eren ; he was thinking that he is a victim either from their father; this makes him lost everything he lived for until this moment..

Zeke is very great and one of the most important character to the story, his development also very good, i'll miss him

Zeke jeager was of course the first of the two jeager brothers and surprisingly the first son of Grisha I think as Hajime Isayama presented him it was awesome but I still not sure about his death is he really dead or is there any twist left in the last two chapters but still 🤞🤞 let’s see what is left in the series.

Zeke just wanted the eldians to be free but the way he wanted to make them free was wrong. That’s why I didn’t like him that much. But I think right now I’m sad that he had to die.

Zeke made many decisions in order to achieve his goal of ending the painful cycle of Eldian life, and because of that I feel sorry for him. I feel sad that he felt that he needed to make those decisions, and I’m glad that he was able to finally see the beauty in life at the end.

Zeke's a very interesting character to me. I love the irony of Grisha teaching him how cruel the world is in the hopes that it would radicalize him, only for it to make him wish he was never born. The guy never got the chance to just be a regular kid, except for when he was with Tom Ksaver. Tom acted like a parent should to a child, and as such Zeke ended up following through on Tom's vision rather than Grisha's. He was supposed to save the Eldian people, but came to the conclusion that it would be better if they were wiped out. I'm glad his past was brought up again in 137 where Zeke was contrasted with Armin. Zeke was born into a role with high expectations, compared to Armin who earned his expectations through repeated successes. Armin was able to grow up as the regular kid that Zeke wishes he was. His past traumas also lead him to project his own insecurities, which we can say by his assumption that all Eldians are born to suffer, and in thinking that Eren was brainwashed by Grisha, both of which aren't necessarily true. Overall I'd say Zeke is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I'm just scratching the surface of why I like him so much.

Zeke was used by others in some way, over his entire life. The restorationists goals. Kusaver using him to ease his own guilt. Marley’s military. Eren as well. I can’t help but wonder how he could have turned out if anyone had sincerely given a fuck about his own happiness.

Hate that Historia is continuing to be ignored.

I feel happy that most people are ok, but I just know that it can't last long. I hope they get a fast death at least if it all goes to hell;-;-;

I hope this isn't a set up for talk-no-jutsu. One thing that set SnK apart from other fantasy/supernatural shonens was the least use of talk-no-jutsu (it was there way early in the manga and anime but still it was least). Overall, I guess when more information/clarification could've been given, we got more talk and a dissatisfying death, I expected more.

It ould have been longer to flesh out each scenario and make it more believable, Zeke's change would be better if a few pages more was used to add more detail to his change. The fight scene should be fine as it is. As for the death of Zeke it needs to be longer, it would have made the audience much more sattisfies, his death is a turning point and it could have played out better if Isayama paid more attention to it. But overall I enjoyed it.

It was all just so rushed and convenient- levi killing zeke like it's nbd, zeke being dead completely stopping their problem, all these random dead people coming back to life it's like - what is this? why rush things this much in the last 3 chapters?  i'm hoping isayama has something up his sleeve but the power of friendship defeating eren's still as of yet unexplained character change has left me super disappointed.

It was amazing as always and still leave me confused on certain parts but that's okay i will understand everything after it ends

It was an alright chapter, about what I really expected, as much as I'd like to I never thought Eren would win and the chapter ended the way I thought it would. With so much negativity surrounding this chapter hopefully the next chapter and the finale will ease people's mind, some people just need to remember this is a Shonen not a Seinen of course the alliance were gonna win.

It was good. Had some great moments like Reiner vs the spine creature and Levi fulfilling his promise. Zeke’s ending was really good too. It was good. The way we got emotions and fight scenes all in one chapter is another peak fiction writing skill from Isayama. As a lot of people think tho, some things shown in the chapter were confusing and kinda out of context, but I guess we'll gonna have all the answers in the last 2 chapters. Ngl, there was some obvious plot armor there in the Alliance side but I think Isayama already gave us enough suffering to ask for more deaths (man, just the thought of how EMA might end after this is more than enough). The ending will definitely define if AOT will go down at the best manga/anime of all time.

We're just rehashing the same lessons of previous arcs and we're just supposed to have conveniently forgotten them...both the feeling of powerlessness/futility of living and the message of "true freedom is..." were already covered by Eren himself back in Uprising and then in his convo with Shadis about what Carla wanted for him. Yams are you telling me he didn't learn a thing and we gotta see other people come to the same conclusions? Ok..........

Were in the Endgame now. Eren's seeming death is used to subvert expectations and is from the POV of Armin. He said goodbye to Eren expecting for him to die from the explosion, e does not say it as fact.

“Eli took a trip to the countryside and returned with several watermelons. He left us one each...”

“And then?”

Expressionless, your arms are folded across your chest as you look Gavin up and down, noting the sheen of sweat on his forehead. Seeing the way you’re glaring at him, the tips of his ears are tinged with a red hue, and he starts tripping up on his words.

“You know that the fridge at my place isn’t very large, so it can’t hold two watermelons... and watermelons spoil easily when left out. So why not eat it while it’s still fresh? So... so I specially rushed over to bring it to you...”

As he says this, his eyes flit upwards to meet yours. He seems to be pleading for sympathy, and it makes you feel infuriated yet tempted to laugh at the same time.

You deliberately maintain a cold expression on your face and accept the watermelon. “Got it. I’ll take the watermelon, and please thank Eli on my behalf. You can leave now.”

“Ahem. I...”

Gavin freezes, then holds onto the door frame, afraid you’d shut the door on him. With this sight before you, you no longer suppress the laughter bubbling to the surface, and you chuckle. 

“Come in, blockhead.”

You stuff the watermelon back into his arms, then pull him into the apartment, letting the door shut behind you.

The worst part was that he tried hiding his injuries from you. Upon leaving the hospital after getting his wounds bandaged, he pretended that nothing had happened, accompanying you to Loveland High to visit Mr Keller.

If your suspicions weren’t raised when he kept refusing the glass of wine from Mr Keller’s wife during the meal, he would have hid it from you forever!

Your mind was preoccupied for the rest of the meal. After finding an excuse to leave, you said goodbye to Mr Keller and dragged Gavin back to his apartment. Then, you forced him to take off his clothes to let you check for injuries. 

After confirming that his injuries were not life-threatening, you gave him a harsh glare. Without waiting for the man - who now knew that he was in the wrong - to stop you, you grabbed your bag and slammed the door.

Just like that, the two of you entered a cold war.

On the first day of the cold war, Commander Gavin sent a message:

“Thorny hasn’t had much energy recently. I think you might need to visit him.”

You replied: Maybe it’s grieving over Greenie, who didn’t know how to take care of itself properly.

On the second day of the cold war, Commander Gavin sent a message:

“Minor recommended a gift. After checking its reviews on shopping websites, I think he’s not reliable.”

You replied: Minor also recommended a new flavour of cup noodles. Commander, please enjoy it by yourself.

On the third day of the cold war, Commander Gavin sent a message:

“The wind says that you’re always staying in the office. It can’t feel you, so it misses you a little.”

You replied: Please tell the wind that I'm grateful for its concern. And also get it to remind a certain bad egg who goes back on his word to keep his promises to me.

Actually, your anger had already vanished very early on. You found yourself thinking - about eight hundred times a day - about whether Gavin’s wounds were healing properly. And whether he returned to eating cup noodles since there wasn’t a canteen in STF, and without your handmade bento boxes.

But if you were to forgive him so easily, this fellow would hide his injuries from you again!

His voice pulls you back to the present. 

Gavin is at a loss as he stands in the middle of your living room, hugging the watermelon to himself. Not knowing if you’re still angry with him, he tests the waters with the question, carefully gauging your reaction. 

To the Commander of STF who fears nothing on earth, there is nothing more frightening than his girl giving him the cold shoulder.

Instead of giving him an answer, you fire a question.

“How are your wounds?”

“They were fine since a long time ago. They weren’t anything serious to begin with. In the previous mission...” When Gavin sees your expression, he cuts himself off sharply. “Don’t worry, I’m really okay.”

“’Okay’? ‘Wasn’t anything serious’?! Mr Gavin, are you sure?”

Your volume spikes. Why is this guy always like this? He calls it nothing serious when there’s clearly a deep gash on his shoulder?!

“How serious do you want your injuries to be? Like the time Eli had to carry you straight to the hospital? Gavin, could you please place more importance on your life! I already told you, you aren’t alone anymore! If you continue treating yourself like this, I... I will...”

Gavin frantically sets down the watermelon and embraces you. 

“All right, all right, don’t be mad. It’s my fault, it’s all my fault.”

Furious, you struggle in his arms for a second or two before remembering that there are wounds on his body. In the end, you surrender and lean into his arms obediently.

“I’ll vow on Thorny’s life that I won’t do it again!”

“What’s the use of vowing on Thorny’s life? Didn’t you say it was already lacking vitality! Maybe after a few days, you would enrage it to death!”

“Then... Pearly? Or Flyer? Mini Thorny?”

“Gavin!”

“All right...” Gavin tightens his hold, caging you in his arms. You feast on the watermelon in Gavin’s arms, and a droplet of bright red juice pelts onto his bare chest. Feeling mischievous, you lean over and lick it off directly, successfully re-igniting the flames in the eyes of the man before you.

Swatting away his hand before it comes an inch closer, you lift your chin and look at him teasingly. “So who is the one who misses me? Thorny? Sparky? The wind?”

“Tell me quickly, or else...”

Pretending to bare your fangs and brandish your claws, you lunge onto him, but accidentally press the remote control in the process. The television on the wall switches on, displaying the news. 

The person who is having an interview just happens to be the one who gave the two of you watermelons - Eli. 

“Most of the employees in STF are amiable and approachable, especially the aunties in the canteen - they would always pile on more dishes for relatively skinny-looking members...” Eli dons his best smile as he tells the public more about STF, with absolutely no idea about the tragic fate awaiting him the next day.

[Important Context] The official MLQC Weibo account posted fun facts of Loveland City in celebration of the game’s 1000-day anniversary (which I translated here). One of the facts concerns STF, which is basically what Eli is saying above

However, in “Go See Him”, Gavin has a line where he says: “There isn’t a canteen in STF, but the nearby eateries aren’t bad.”

Back in your class. the professor in front of you was talking about parasites. The last lecture for the day had passed with a series of slides filled with “fascinating” illustrations. With your back hurting, you subtly stretch your body; careful not to draw unnecessary attention. It was a long day, yet it was only two in the afternoon.  

“Thank goodness I have time to relax,” your lazy self has emerged once again.  

The click of your dorm door and the welcoming presence of your bed was the greatest feeling ever. Painfully switching your attention, you prepare for a quick shower. You took your phone to put on your bed, took some clothes to change into afterwards, then proceeded to head to your floor’s communal bathroom.  

As the water was pouring down on you, thoughts invaded your head. It had been the other day that you were hired for a huge job. They still haven’t reached back out yet and you aren’t able to do anything regarding the job since you had no idea what to do. They… or Tsukishima rather, hadn’t contacted you despite saying he will­—within a day or two. It had almost been 48 hours.  

“Why am I such an over-thinker?”  

You recover and assure yourself that it was all fine. It’s out of your control anyway. They can message you anytime. After all, you had given him your number.  

Finished, you dry yourself up and change into your fresh clothes before heading out and back to your room.  

You're greeted by the presence of your roommate sitting on your bed—the bottom bunk.  

“Hey,” you called out to her.  

“Hello,” she replied, eyes not meeting yours, still occupied with her phone.  

Holding your used clothes, you proceeded to fold them and put them away to be washed along with your week-old towel. Now your self-relaxation can begin… but where was your phone?

Lazing around would not be complete without it, you needed to scroll through YouTube comments while watching a video.  

“Wait just a minute-,” you face your roomie. “Isabella…”  

Whilst sitting on your bed, she gave you a cheeky expression; caught scrolling through your phone. “Sorry. Couldn’t help it. It was just sitting there.”  

“How did you even know the password?” A kind of annoyed amazement washed over you. You had nothing to hide anyway so there was no major problem.  

“In case you forgot, I live up–” she gestured to the top bunk, “–there.”  

“Dumb. Dumb as hell,” You had been careless. She could peek from above.  

“Anyway… Who is this guy?” Her tone was teasing with a mischievous face to go along with it. It made you worried.  

“What guy–” Oh no. It can’t be. Can it?  You grabbed your phone from her and saw why the idiot was smirking. It was a message from Tsukishima.  

     The message was straight to the point and yet your blockhead roommate still kept giving you knowing looks. She didn’t even know the reason for the message. She was jumping leaps and bounds to conclusions. This, you felt, was not going to go away anytime soon.  

“I was hired for another job”  

“Yeah, yeah. Sure~” She got up from your bed and languidly went for her desk. “Just don’t mind me, I’ll be studying here...” She dramatically gestures to her small workspace.  Facing her, you couldn’t help but feel embarrassed yet wanting to take that grin off her face.  

On your bed, you go back to the message. “On Wednesday.” It is a few days from now.

Checking your schedule, you were free on that day and the morning after. The timing though. Well, it wasn’t as if you were complaining, in fact, it was very good news. One less problem for you.  

You replied to Tsukishima then. The anxiety was eating you. A simple reply yet so many ways to screw up.  

“WHAT. DID I SEND?! Did he really leave me on ‘read’? Anyway~” So that is done. Now to relax. No need for self-criticism.  

On Wednesday, nine on the dot, you arrived in front of the museum.  

Draped around your neck, you show your loaned ID to the guard and pass through on to the building. Inside, some big boxes and various pieces have been placed on the hallway’s floor.

That must be for the event... wow they are already starting this early on. It again dawned on you how big of an event it is; starting to make preparations this early on. The pressure was beginning to feel real.  

“Hello.”  

“Oh, that voice again” you turn around to greet him but you didn’t get the chance to.  

“(L/N), this is Kazumi Keiko, my fellow intern,” he gestured to the lady beside him. Looking up at her, she seemed friendly, motherly almost; her long hair tied back and with freckles on her face. Although you take it, she was older than you and Tsukishima.

“Hello, nice to meet you Kazumi,” you reply although softly. She smiles a warm smile at you.  

“So now we're just waiting for Kazumi’s partner, Ike--- never mind she’s here”

“Hey guyssss!” A female about your age was waving behind the glass doors. Kazumi was gesturing with her hand beckoning the girl to enter. “How come she gets to be partners with Kazumi and I’m with the boy Tsukishima? This will just be utter awkwardness from me I bet,” you try to see the reasoning why it couldn’t have been you partnered with Kazumi.

“Hey, I’m Ikeda, Satsuki,” she was very direct, it caught you off-guard.

“Hi. I’m (L/N), (F/N).”

 “Wow, nice name! It’s foreign, I like it. Do you want a Snickers?” Glancing down, she had in her hand a Snickers bar being handed out to you. “Uh, no, no, I’m fine. You--” you got caught off by Kazumi. “(L/N), you better just take that or we’ll be stuck here a long time.”

“Oh ok, sure. Thank you, Ikeda,” you take the Snickers bar from her hand giving her a tight but genuine smile. She returned the gesture. From what you observed, she has a pretty happy-go-lucky character and you realize why Ikeda might be partnered with Kazumi; it was to manage Ikeda, Satsuki.

Tsukishima continued, “So for today Mr. Yasuhiro instructed us all to divide the work and just find a plan around it...”

That meeting ended about 15 minutes ago.  Now, you’re walking the streets of Sendai, side-by-side, with the tall man of partner for work. How did it come to this...?

The central matter you discussed was how the work was going to be divided. You and Tsukishima were to handle the main big projection for the event while Team Kazumi will handle multiple small displays around the museum. You didn’t get into too much detail but for now that was it. The details were to be discussed by the pair. Great... By the time your gathering finished it was past noon; late lunch.

“There’s still the rest of the day so I’m bringing Ikeda with me to lunch. We’ll be talking about ‘this’ after.” Kazumi was definitely wasting no time. “How about you guys?” She faced Tsukishima.

Oh no...

“Uh...” he glanced at you. Oh no. No, no. “You don’t have anything to do this afternoon right?”

I have no escape from this. “Yeah, my whole day is free”

“Well, I guess we could all get lunch.” He asked Kazumi now, “Where are you guys going?”

“A Western inspired cafe just a walking distance from here, it just opened so I wanna try it out”

Tsukishima took his coat and bag then went for the door. “Let’s go then.”  

“Wait... I still have to buy some things along the way, I want Kazumi to come with me. Can you two go ahead and reserve seats for us?” Ikeda protested, as childish as ever.

Kei halted, “Uh, yeah sure. I don’t see how that’s a problem.”

Not a problem... right.

“(L/N), are you fine with this?” The ever-motherly Kazumi made sure to check up on you.

“Ehem...” After a rather long walk of silence. Tsukishima cleared his throat. “Are you fine there?”

“Hmm...” You glance up at him; not expecting any talk. “Oh yeah, I’m fine here. You?”

“Uh-huh. Same here”

Awkward...but still you continue to walk side-by-side.

“You know, I’m not really a talkative person,” Tsukishima started again, “but Mr. Yasuhiro told me to ‘make an effort’ because you ‘tend to be shy,’” oh, is that how this guy sees me too? Ouch.

“I get what he means but...” he side-glanced to see you, it made your eyes meet his for a small while, “…some people prefer not talking at all and some are uncomfortable doing so. In short... I’m asking you if you would be comfortable with me trying to talk to you...”

Ohhhh... man, this guy is considerate. What a nice person.

“Yes, yeah. I’m really fine with people talking to me first. I just don’t really like to initiate a conversation plus I don’t want to be a nuisance to them... and like you said, I ‘tend to be shy.’”

“So, are you fine if I ask you questions?”

“Yeah, sure. Of course.” You really felt delighted; a person actually respected that not all people are the same in terms of talkativeness. It’s not every day you meet someone like that.

Unbeknownst to you, it was Tsukishima’s goal in earnest to make you comfortable around him; to the best of his ability.  You do have to work on a project together after all.

A few moments of walking and you both arrived in the café. True to her word, what Kazumi said by “western inspired” actually really means an absolutely western café.

Tsukishima, the unexpected gentleman, opened the door for you as you both entered. You give him a smile in thanks; he returned a small smile too.  

Looking around, it seems like rush-hour has passed and the café is almost empty. That means you don’t have to worry about reserving seats for Kazumi and Ikeda, then.  

“Would you prefer seats by, or away from the window?”

You imagined eating by the window as others pass by... “I think away from the window”

“Same here.” He then led you to a table for 4 by the wall. He breezily pulled a chair and motioned for you to sit on it as if it were no big deal.  

Oh my. This is kind of flustering.

Tsukishima received a text from Kazumi saying that they’ll be late and to order and eat ahead of them; and so, you both did. A waitress handed you menus then left the both of you to choose your orders. He ordered smoked salmon while you went with lasagna. For dessert he asked you what you wanted but you’d told him you’ll have bobba instead; he got a strawberry shortcake.

“So, while waiting for our food, and Kuzumi, I do have to bring back the fact that we're going to be working together on this project and we barely know each other. So...” across from you, he gives you a “you get where I’m headed with this” look on his face.

You nodded. “Mhmm”  

“Right, should we ask each other questions?”

“Yeah, I think that’s the easiest way.”

“Ok, I’ll go first. You’re in university, right? What are you studying?”

“Oh, I’m a veterinary student”

“Oh, wow. That’s very impressive.” You responded with a smile and small chuckle, “Oh, no... not really.”

It was your turn. “If I recall correctly, you are in the museum as an intern. What are you doing if you’re not there?”

“Well, aside from attending school, I also have volleyball to face but that’s all.”  

Confused with his vague answer, “Volleyball?”

“Hm... uh,” for the first time ever since you met him, the usually stoic guy looked... bashful. “I play for V.League Division 2,” he looks unsure if you knew what it was and made an attempt to explain it. But when he saw your eyes wide with amazement, he stopped fidgeting with his hands. “I’m taking it that you know what that is...”

You didn’t really dabble too much in sports, volleyball was no exception. Sure, you watched an anime about volleyball; got addicted, and friends mention volleyball from time-to-time too, all that was enough to know what V.League meant. “Now that’s impressive.”

He grinned. “Heh. Well, I don’t really know about that…but now it’s my turn to ask. How did you get into animating?”

“Oh,” you let out a heartfelt laugh, caught unaware of the question.

Hearing it, Kei couldn't help but suppress his blissful smile.

“I always liked animating but it was a friend who forced me to actually do something about it,” remembering your laziness and your pestering friend was a goofy memory but a treasured one.

“Is this the same friend that left you in the museum?”

Joy came over you and you chuckled again, “how did you even remember that?”

“I mean, that was just a few days ago and who can forget someone who got left behind by a friend?”

“She isn’t bad, she just had to hurry out. I swear, she’s a reliable person most times.”

You haven’t noticed it but Tsukishima's goal was slowly realized as the air of awkwardness and tension gave out. You were too giddy to realize anything; you felt weirdly safe and became chattier.

In front of you, Tsukishima looked to be amused; a rare smile plastered on his face. “I had a somewhat same experience back in high school,” again, he sported a surprisingly charming smile on his face.

Curiosity overtook as you continued to prod, “what happened in high school?”  

“Well, simply put, I wasn’t overly fond of volleyball then. A lot of people paved the way to make me love it. In a way, I relate."  

“Wow, your friends were really good for doing that.”

“Hahaha.. yeah. I was kind of forced the first time around,” he muttered under his breath. “It’s your turn to question.”

“Oh, right.” Attention span of a goldfish. “What position do you play?”

“I... Am a middle blocker”

“Well, that’s fitting to say the least. Is it fun playing your position?"

“Yes. I find it fun especially seeing anguished faces across the net after a good block.” You cracked a smile at that, he didn’t seem to be the type to find fun in that manner.

 “My turn to ask. Are you comfortable talking to me now?” Upon asking that, he faced you with genuine concern, you didn’t even realize you were talking to him casually and without uneasiness.

“Yeah, I think so.” You finish it with a smile.

He flashed a quick smirk in response. For he, after a lengthy while, has finally made progress with the person in front of him.

Chapter 10: The Secluded Sage

The mountain road to Caer Pelyn looked grueling from the base all the way to the peak.

And it wasn't just sudden, steep slopes that hindered their progress, but also a high fog that was starting to roll in and obstruct their view.

The cavalry all dismounted their horses, then started to carefully climb the rocky areas so that the horses would not fracture any bones. Those who did not have much strength were helped by those who had power to spare. Only the pegasus knights did not struggle.

Tana suggested that Eirika ride with her, but she refused. Since she was so light, she had a much easier time climbing than the soldiers clad in heavy armor. As she aimed for the peak, she cheered on those who were getting discouraged as much as she possibly could.

When the fog cleared a bit, Forde looked back at the road they'd come from and slowly stretched out his hands. "Aaaah, what a nice view! Nature is the greatest painter of all… or so it makes me want to say. It's so unfortunate that I didn't bring my paints with me." Contrary to his very relaxed words, his brow was covered in sweat.

And he was certainly right. The view looking down from up high was picturesque. Neither the fort and sight of one of their most grueling battles, nor the village where they’d met Kilmt and Ewan, felt real from where they were standing now. Both areas blended in with the rest of the scenery.

Eirika asked through heavy breaths from climbing, “So, Forde, you paint?”

He seemed to have wanted her to ask. He answered proudly, “I mean, it’s just how I pass the time. I’m skilled in both landscapes and portraits. If you’d like, I’d be honored to paint you some time, Lady Eirika…”

“She would not.” Kyle, who was climbing behind him, whispered, ruining Forde’s mood. “Everything you draw is so crude. Lady Eirika would pity you.”

“That’s mean, Kyle! You just don’t like painting…!”

“If you talk too much, you’ll waste your energy.”

Kyle was right. As knights of a kingdom, they didn’t want to act improper in front of others. 

Forde did not speak another word, instead choosing to devote himself to climbing the mountain.

The one person full of energy compared to the rest of the sweat-drenched group was Ewan. He’d gotten used to this road when he was much younger, and moved up the rugged mountain as if he was as light as a rabbit.

Not only that, but he was also teasing everyone who was struggling. His main target, for whatever reason, was Innes.

Ewan jumped around like a small animal and made fun of how carefully Innes climbed, saying that he’d be an old man by the time he made it to the top, that he’d carry him for one hundred gold, and other such taunts. Tethys scolded Ewan for it every single time, but he was enjoying himself too much, and couldn’t stop himself from horsing around.

Innes, probably thinking that it would be ridiculous to get angry with a child, simply crossed his brow, and did not respond.

The closer they got to the summit, the thicker and thicker the fog became. They couldn’t even see their own feet clearly, and some soldiers didn’t realize when they were about to step on rocks, causing them to sprain their ankles.

‘Is there really a village up a mountain like this…?’ Eirika began to doubt it.

Suddenly, Innes ordered everyone to stop.

Eirika, who’d gone a little ahead of the main group, turned around while wiping the sweat from her forehead. “What is it, Innes…?”

“There’s a fort over there.”

She looked over at where Innes was pointing, and indeed saw something that looked like a fort. It was hidden in the fog, but it was clear that a stone building was towering over them.

“Yeah, that’s a fort that was built a long, loooong time ago!” Ewan said with a knowing look on his face. “It was made several hundred years ago for those fighting the monsters rampaging in this area. But now, no one uses it. There’s nothing nor anyone inside. I explored it once.”

“Ewan! That’s dangerous…!” Tethys crossed her eyebrows, but Ewan didn’t pay her any mind at all. 

He tried to continue on as if he’d already completely forgotten about the fort, but Innes stopped him. “Wait. If there’s no one here, then what is that noise?”

“Noise?”

“Can’t you hear it?”

Ewan cupped his ears with his hands. His already big eyes grew bigger and bigger, until finally they were as big as could be. “...You’re right! There’s a strange noise coming from somewhere! That’s amazing, mister! My teacher is always telling me that sharp senses are the foundation of spellcasting. You might just have a knack for magic!”

Innes ignored him, and said to Eirika, “It would be best if you told your army to prepare for battle immediately.”

“Battle…? Innes, could there really be an enemy waiting to ambush us here…!?” 

“It’s not the Carcino Army. There’s little chance they could have made it up a mountain like this. The beings residing in that fort are much more of a nuisance than them…”

“Monsters!” A hysterical scream echoed through the fog, one that sounded happy for some reason.

No one even had to turn around to see who it was. They all knew it was Lute.

Innes wasn’t amused by her enthusiasm, keeping his serious composure as he nodded and said, “I believe so. And the noise is getting louder and louder. They seem to have noticed us.”

Their only experience fighting monsters so far was in the Za’ha Woods, and all they knew was that Artur and Lute’s magic was effective against them.

Still, Eirika could not stop her heart from racing, and the reason for that was the fog. The fort was falling apart, with chunks of wall having crumbled and tumbled off. Even the inside was probably filled with fog. To fight an unfamiliar enemy when they could not see very well put them at a huge disadvantage.

‘I wonder if there’s a route around the fort?’ 

However, the moment that thought ran through Eirika’s head, she heard a commotion start from within the fort that only grew louder and louder.

It seemed that it would be impossible to avoid it now. If she hesitated, it would only mean that more of her soldiers would be injured.

Eirika quickly organized her army into their battle formation, then they all marched towards the fort within the fog.

What Innes noticed was not the fort, but something, or rather, someone, just in front of it.

From within the fort clouded in fog came a shockingly carefree voice. “What a spacious room this is! It smells a bit musty, but that just makes it all the more intriguing. I like it! We shall rest here for the night!”

Her energetic voice contrasted completely with the dark and gloomy fort.

And her loyal companion Dozla was of course by her side. He was moving around as quickly as his rotund body would allow, cleaning up the room to make her as comfortable as possible.

L’Arachel sat down atop their large pile of luggage arranged as a makeshift chair, and watched Dozla work with a calm look on her face that made it clear that this was how they normally did things. “Still, I do wonder what happened to Rennac. I told him to follow close behind me, but he disappeared at some point… What a shame. I wonder when we lost him.”

“He’s certainly not a very reliable fellow! Shall I go look for him?”

“No thank you, Dozla. If we run about carelessly, then we will just get lost ourselves. I believe we should rest here for the night. No matter how bad his sense of direction may be, he should show up before long.”

“Of course, Lady L’Arachel! What an excellent idea!” Dozla began to move even more gallantly than before, tearing down the spider webs from the corners of the room.

L’Arachel never failed to pray, no matter the situation, so she knelt down on the cold stone floor.

When Dozla stepped inside the neighboring room so as not to disrupt her, he lept back as if he’d been flicked away like a fly.

“There’s something very important I must tell you, Lady L’Arachel!”

“What could it possibly be, Dozla? Why must I tell you not to be loud every time I pray…!?”

“There’s something lurking in the fog! It’s monsters!” At first glance, Dozla might seem blockheaded, but his senses were sharp towards unexpected, strange presences. It was an intuition he’d picked up naturally throughout his journey together with L’Arachel to eradicate monsters.

L’Arachel was not scared by the news, rather, her face lit up. “What good fortune this is, to be confronted by monsters while seeking to stay at this fort for the night! The gods have truly judged me to be a worthy emissary of justice. We will take care of them straight away, Dozla.”

“My hammer arm is already itching for a fight!"

L’Arachel and Dozla rushed into the thick of the fog.

The signs that monsters were near were finally undeniable. The two travelers, throwing caution to the wind and jumping into the fray, were like a free meal to them. Even those who had been concealing themselves inside the fort came crawling out.

L’Arachel, grasping her staff in both of her hands, looked around at her surroundings, then said in a meek voice, “...Dozla, are you concerned?”

“Why would I be, Lady L’Arachel?”

“Their numbers might be… just a bit too great.”

The horde of monsters surrounding them had grown to several rows.

Foggyvent Epilogue, and a new beginning

Nobody Wants To Know

Part I – Prologue

The Hub was an interesting place. A meeting place among the infinite dimensions across the multiverse, it was a large and vaguely dome-shaped space with a pale silver colour in the sky and a metallic texture to its walls and floor. It was filled with tables and chairs of various sizes and shapes to accommodate all of the physical impossibilities that would find themselves sitting there, and it was at one such table that Nobody found herself in conversation with her succubus companion, Zila.

The two had loved one another from their first meeting, and as such when Nobody needed comfort and answers after her experience with the fog, there was only one person she sought out. Launch was a close second, but her second partner was rather difficult to track down on most occasions, and was usually not interested in getting involved in serious matters such as this, preferring to take a more background role.

“…And then the vision passed.” Nobody finished her recounting of exactly what she had seen in the fog – the two figures that taunted her and the vision of those she cared about most laying dead at her feet. “I still don’t know what it truly meant, but ever since I’ve been feeling…different than I used to. I don’t think that I only saw my fears.”

“You think it was some kind of vision?” Zila said, in that youthful silken voice of hers. In more pleasant circumstances, Nobody could lose herself in that wondrous sound, but at the moment she had more pressing concerns. Still, even watching Zila’s beautiful skin and golden blond hair, gazing into her piercing yellow eyes as she spoke, brought Nobody comfort.

“Sort of.” Nobody answered. “Not a vision of the future, but perhaps it was showing me some truth within myself. Something I have been incapable of remembering for whatever reason. Perhaps a good reason.” Zila seemed to frown at that, and Nobody almost felt dumb for even suggesting the idea. At times, Zila’s charisma was infectious even without her willing it. One of many features that came from being a Succubus. Two drinks arrived at their table, which Zila took, passing one to Nobody, who nodded her thanks.

“What kinda ‘good reason’,” Zila said, emphasising the air-quotes. “Would there be for not knowing who you are?” She asked. Nobody shrugged in response, uncertain of how to answer the question herself.

“I can only conclude it’s something my employer would want.” She replied. “Kuryo has informed me that my existence has certain terms, namely serving him on my missions. This could be another?” Nobody shook her head. “I’m really not sure, and it’s something I intend to look into. But it’s not the only reason I came here.”

“Oh?” Zila said, placing her head forward and resting it on one slender yet well-toned blue arm. She grinned for a moment, showing pale white fanged teeth for just a moment. Behind her question-marked face, Nobody smiled warmly, and placed her hand on Zila’s free one.

“I also came to see you.” She said happily. Zila’s face blushed a warm red colour, something that Nobody found adorably amusing. “After seeing the other vision, seeing you lifeless… I had to. I’m sure my friends would consider it selfish, but I won’t apologise for my devotion to you surpassing any other factors.”

“You mean everything to me, Zila.”

“Y-you’re just trying to make me blush!” Zila playfully protested, quickly putting her hands to her face and shaking side to side, a sight that made Nobody laugh, with a genuineness she hadn’t felt in quite some time. Zila took a moment to calm herself before speaking again.

“What about your other partner? Lift-off or Rise or something like that?” She asked, and Nobody sighed.

“Launch.” She corrected. “I love them too. Of course I do, and there’s next to nothing I wouldn’t do for them. We’ve discussed this before, and nothing has changed.”

“Nothing?” Zila asked. “Wait, does that mean that they still don’t know about… you know, about us?”

“Whether or not they’re aware, I cannot say.” Nobody said, leaning back in her seat and sipping her drink, an odd substance that tasted vaguely like orange juice despite looking like clear water. “But I have yet to have the opportunity to tell them. I intended to, but then they died.”

“Excuse me?!”

“Don’t panic, it wasn’t permanent.” Nobody chuckled, and Zila sighed in relief. “I don’t fully understand the details, but they have a system in place that makes them essentially immortal. They respawned, and sent me their location. Alas, I was unable to find them before getting side-tracked by work. We next saw each other at the New Year’s party on Creatorverse, Internia. And only briefly before disaster struck.”

“What kind of disaster?” Zila asked. She was always curious about Creatorverse, a world that she herself had yet to visit. “Was it those Blockhead things you told me about?” Nobody shook her head.

“No, I’m told it was Mori.” Zila nodded, vaguely recalling what Nobody had said about the mysterious Mori.

“That’s the destroyer god, right?” She asked. Nobody thought for a moment, then shrugged.

“Something like that, I think. I forget the full story, and no one ever seems to agree on the details.” She answered. “All I know is that Mori used to live in Creatorverse, but was exiled for some reason, and now they want to destroy us all for revenge?” Zila raised an eyebrow.

“That sounds kinda fishy.”

“I agree.” Nobody nodded. “But it’s not really my business to examine it further. I’ve got nothing against Mori, nor any of their companions. I’ll only intervene if absolutely necessary. Not my fight.”

“So, they sabotaged the party?” Nobody nodded at Zila’s deduction.

“Indeed. They were also responsible for releasing the fog. I think they were trying to get some kind of paperwork using it, but I don’t believe I caught the full message before I left. I didn’t see Launch at all after New Year’s. I hope they avoided the fog.”  

“I hope they’re okay too.” Zila said comfortingly. “Based on what you’ve told me, they sound pretty cool.” She smiled at Nobody.

“If they only seem ‘pretty cool’, I must have undersold them.” Nobody joked, and the two laughed pleasantly for a few moments.

“Hopefully I’ll get to meet them someday.” Zila said. Nobody nodded, raising her glass.

“With any luck. It would be great for all three of us to hang out sometime.” The two lovers clinked their glasses together happily and drank for a moment. There was a pause before Zila spoke again, this time nervously.

“If…” She hesitated, and Nobody leaned forward, listening intently. “If you had to choose. If you had to choose between me or them-”

“I’d choose you.” Nobody cut her off. “I love Launch, I care for them a lot, but you’re always my number one priority.”

“Thank you.” Zila said after a moment, shining clear watery tears.

“No need to thank me for honesty.” Nobody replied. “But enough about me. How have you been? Hopefully you’ve been doing better than my vision suggested.” She joked, which caused Zila to chuckle before groaning into her hands at the thought of how things had been going for her.

“Ugh. Let’s just say I’m glad you’re here. Things haven’t been going well since our last meeting.” Nobody took a long sip of her drink.

“Oh, trouble at work?” Nobody asked, setting Zila off.

“You have no idea!” She cried, throwing her arms up in frustration for a moment. “All I’m trying to do is seduce people and take their souls, but everyone keeps trying to get feelings involved! It’s so uncomfortable. I’m just there to fuck, not for love.”

“That’s not how I remember our times in bed.” Nobody said light-heartedly. “I seem to recall us being very passionate indeed, in more ways than just physical.” Zila froze for a moment, going red.

“You’re the exception.” She said, seemingly both flustered and amused. “No one else is like you, ya know.”

“I believe I do.” Nobody nodded. Her thoughts wandered back to her vision in the fog for another moment. “Although I find myself wondering as to what I am like now. There’s still so much I don’t know…” She trailed off, something Zila noticed.

“It’s the vision, isn’t it?” She asked, to which Nobody nodded. “If it’s bugging you so much, you gotta go look into it.” Nobody looked up for a moment.

“I…” She stumbled over her words. “I have some ideas. Nothing concrete, but there are a few places that might hold some answers for me.” She thought for a moment.

“The other Nobodies.”

“Pardon?”

“When I enter another world, there is only one me.” Nobody began to explain frantically. “I just change to fit that world and its rules. But there are three exceptions I know of. One I made, one I chose, and one took the name herself. Three other Nobodies. And if I am included, there are three people within me. It’s not a coincidence, I just don’t know how it connects.” Zila smiled happily. Hearing Nobody ramble so passionately always brought her joy.

And if she was being honest, she had certain ideas for what to do with three Nobody’s…

“Well, what are you waiting for? Go check them out!” Zila encouraged. Nobody smiled beneath her question-marked face and burst forth from her seat, before remembering a crucial detail she had forgotten.

“WAIT, CV!” She yelled in a panic. “I was meant to get some things! Vanilla extract and a big magic supply! And I was meant to help those outside in the fog!”

“Wait, the fog was still happening when you got here?!” Zila shrieked in surprise. “I thought it was done!”

“I’M SORRY, I HAD TO SEE YOU!” Nobody said in response. Zila stood for a moment, briefly going red before sighing.

“Hun, I love you, but sometimes you can be a real dumbass.” Nobody nodded at Zila’s wisdom, chuckling a little. “Give me a sec, I’ll help.” Nobody gave Zila a quick hug in response to her words.

“Thanks Zila, you’re a life saver!” Zila rolled her eyes but gave Nobody a loving smile as she gently left her arms, and opened up a flaming portal. One of the perks of being a succubus was the ability to essentially travel anywhere, and in style to boot.  

“I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere.” Zila said, before blowing a kiss at Nobody, which the question mark girl happily caught. She then vanished through the portal.

As she waited for Zila’s return, Nobody took the time to write a small note to apologise for her absence.

Dear Shandy, or whoever else finds this note,

I apologise for failing in my duties during the Fog Outbreak. I had much to do, and some crucial personal business that I am afraid takes priority over anything and anyone within the city. Said personal business is also why I will not be returning in person.

The Fog may have shown others their fears, but to me it showed a vision. It allowed for some part of me long forgotten to connect to the rest, and I now need to find answers. I understand if you will not forgive me, but I shall not apologise.

However, thanks to a special someone, I have some gifts I had promised, that I hope shall make up for my extended absence.

Nobody In Particular

Zila returned as soon as she had finished writing the letter, holding a rather nice-looking woven basket.

“Alright, I got you a bunch of Vanilla extract, a duplication ring they can use to get more, and…” She took out a large black sphere that seemed to hold within it a burning white-hot flame. “One Hell Pandora. It’s a magic sphere that holds some of the most potent powers and souls from hell, like a pocket dimension. Don’t worry about using souls, they were in Hell for a reason.”  

Nobody nodded, taking the basket and briefly opening a portal of her own. She placed it carefully at the door of the council building, never fully stepping through. Once she was sure it had been safely placed down, she came back to The Hub.

She then wrapped Zila in a tender embrace, and after a moment the gesture was returned.

“I may not know the full story of who I am,” She began, before moving to look Zila right in the eyes, holding her by the shoulders. “But I know that I love you, and I always will.” After a moment’s hesitation, Nobody peeled back the question-mark face she wore, revealing her True Form and its human face beneath. Then, she gently removed that face as well, showing off the face of her Final Form.

Her right eye was finally open, a prism of strange and interdimensional energy held within it. Her natural blonde hair now stood in eerily still spikes, mixing with a misty aura around her. Her mouth was now masked with a deep purple and black misty aura, mixed with fiery fangs.  

This was Nobody in her purest state, something that only Zila had ever seen. And whilst most avoided it as much as possible due to its fearful effects, Zila only ever admired it as she did all aspects of her lover.

Gently, Nobody kissed Zila, letting their mouths come to a pleasant embrace. It was all too brief for the both of them, but at the same time it was also a moment that neither would ever forget.

“No matter who you become, I’ll always love you.” Zila said, gently caressing Nobody’s face as it morphed back to its default question-mark state.  

“Now go.” She spoke. “I’ll be waiting for when you return.”

And with those final words, Nobody departed, beginning her search for answers.

AN: Thanks for reading this! This started as just an epilogue for the Creatorverse Foggyvent, but I’ve been working on some of Nobody’s backstory and lore, so the idea to expand this struck me as an excellent way to explore it! The three other Nobody’s mentioned are all characters that I created, and the only AU Nobody’s to not just be the canon one shifting based on the world she’s in.

I should probably give some context for that. The short version is that Nobody is an extra-dimensional being. Specifically, she is a Fusion, which in this case means she is a cross between the souls of a Creator from Internia and an entity known as a Void Demon, an energy being that lives in the Void, a space between realities. Both of these are separate from Nobody, who is a third being created from combining the previous two. More info will be revealed as the story progresses.

As for Zila, she’s another sona of mine! I made her to be a somewhat less complex character than Nobody, who has a lot more complex lore behind her. So Zila’s whole deal is that she’s a Succubus from a realm known as Hell, and she travels across realms to…well, do what Succubi do. I’d be happy to talk more about her if asked.

Worth noting, Nobody is indeed canonically cheating on Zila with Launch, even though Zila is aware and fine with it. It’s not a poly without everyone knowing what’s going on and giving consent, and since Nobody has yet to tell Launch about Zila, it’s cheating. Out of character, Zila is just another representation of me just like Nobody. They’re both parts of me. So, unless dating literally myself counts, no IRL relationships are affected whatsoever.

The library felt both cavernous and claustrophobic as Katara thought of the hundreds of pounds of sand above them. It had been lucky that Malina introduced them to Professor Zei, who she had met when they were students at Ba Sing Se University. It had been lucky that Toph was able to feel out the library, despite the sand rendering her truly blind for most of their trip. And it was lucky the weird fox showed up when it did.

But as they started over one crumbling walkway, Katara felt her stomach twist.

The stacks were massive and defied reason as they seemed to hover in empty space. Toph was quiet, only pausing to tap her feet everyone in a while and shake her head. Thuy, having found her group, clustered with the others and whispered among them. Out of all of them, only Mister Whiskers seemed unbothered.

Zuko led the way, holding out a flame.

At an intersection, they stopped at the wide platform and looked around. A breeze picked up and a massive shadow slammed down in front of them. A few of the young ones behind Katara yelped.

A large white face turned to them all and Katara almost lost her breakfast.

“Why have you trespassed in my library?” The titan of an owl asked.

“Wan Shi Tong!” Professor Zei exclaimed, rushing forward. “We’ve come seeking knowledge!”

“The last human I allowed in my library sought knowledge for the purpose of destruction. I will not abide such desecration. Speak your intentions and I will decide if you may enter.” Wan Shi Tong said. Katara’s stomach sank and she grabbed onto Zuko’s arm for support.

“I’m only tagging along since I can’t, you know, read.” Toph spoke up.

Wan Shi Tong tilted his head to a disturbing angle and Katara swallowed a lump in her throat.

“You okay?” Zuko whispered.

“Fine.” Katara hissed.

“We have texts in all forms, including the ones read with your,” Wan Shi Tong lifted his wings and flapped them gently. “Fingers.”

“Oh lit.” Toph said and Thuy groaned. “Then what do you have on metallurgy?”

“Why?” Wan Shi Tong questioned. “I have seen how your kind has weaponized even the meanest of elements in this world.”

“I just like being an asshole.” Toph stated with a shrug. “And I want to know how to make equipment more cold resistant.”

“Aw, Sifu.” Thuy said and Toph waved her away.

“Acceptable.” Wan Shi Tong said. “Now, the rest of you.”

“I am only here to seek as much knowledge as I can.” Professor Zei said.

“A lie.” Wan Shi Tong announced.

“Sorry bucko, but the nerd is telling the truth.” Toph interjected.

“And how do you know that, human?” Wan Shi Tong shot back.

“My bending. I can tell when someone is lying. And how many of those weird foxes you have in here.”

“How many?”

“Fifty-seven.”

“Seven? Ling got out again.” Wan Shi Tong muttered. He then ruffled his feathers and straightened. “Fine, but what of the rest of you?”

“The Avatar and I are looking for information about Energybending.” Katara said.

“The Avatar?” Wan Shi Tong flew past them, an eel of blackness, and coiled around Thuy. Forcing the others back, Wan Shi Tong loomed over her.

“Ah, I see. I am sad to hear of Aang’s passing. I was fond of him.” He announced.

“He did not tell me you were this scary.” Thuy rasped out. Wan Shi Tong’s head bobbled and he laughed.

“My apologies, Avatar.” He said.

“I know the rest of us just came along with Thuy,” Tashi said, grabbing Wan Shi Tong’s attention. “But since this is actually real, I would like to find stuff pre-Avatar Wan.”

“Wan.” Wan Shi Tong muttered.

“I do not need to hear anything further. I will leave you to my attendant, but be aware that I will know what you take. If I think you are attempting to abuse my library, I will sink the whole building with all of you in it.” He said and, before the group’s bewilderment could find a voice, launched himself upward.

“I am done with spirits.” Sokka muttered.

“Alright team, let's go.” Thuy said, trying to sound cheerful.

“I’m going with Toph.” Jae-hwan announced.

“Figures.” Toph said, pushing her student.

“I’d like to go too, if that’s okay.” Aktuk said.

“You’re not trailing after Thuy?” Jae-hwan mocked and Aktuk blushed.

“He’s got the leg you idiot.” Toph said, smacking the back of Jae-hwan’s head. “Of course he’s going with me.”

“If this place really has everything, I’m going for the poetry.” Sokka announced.

“Poetry?” Jae-hwan questioned.

“You know, if you put something other than dirt into that blockhead of yours, you might be a better Bender.” Toph said.

“He’s not a Bender!” Jae-hwan protested.

“And yet he will always kick your ass, dust bunny.” Toph said and then ruffled his hair, grinning.

“I’m not feeling well, so I think I’m going to stay here.” Suki said, sliding down the stone railing and pulling off her backpack.

“Mister Whiskers can stay with you.” Thuy stated.

“Thanks, hun.” Suki said and smiled.

“I’ll stay too.” Tashi spun his closed glider and sat near Suki, laying the apparatus across his lap.

The rest of them split up, following foxes that took them down separate walkways from the platform. Katara and her group were led to a large table to set up a sort of camp. Foxes brought lanterns or else escorted Thuy, Suzu, and Zula off to find books.

From their packs, they pulled out snacks and water, setting into the tomes and scrolls that the fox librarians pointed out for them.

Energybending was a theory Avatar Aang had explored. Airbenders were assumed to be more intune with the energy of the world, but Waterbenders had a stronger connection to spirits. Aang wondered if there was a connecting force after seeing how some Waterbender midwives were able to identify if an unborn child would be a Bender.

That, along with the concept of chi blocking, led him to believe that Bending ability could be locked and unlocked, even in people believed to be non-Benders.

Zuko was hoping to find something that would help him deal with his father. The recent coup attempt was backing him into a corner and neither he nor Katara wanted to see the man executed.

For hours they poured over books, while Katara sucked on various candies to help her nausea. They broke to eat and compare notes, but only Katara and Thuy could even begin to make sense of what was written. The Firebenders had a different connection to their bending.

“Wait, let me see if I understand this.” Thuy said, turning in her seat to face Katara. With a book open on the table, Thuy traced down the page with one finger while her other hand waved in front of Katara’s face.

“If the lines go from…” Thuy murmured, looking at the book for a moment before making the gestures in the air. She moved down Katara’s front and startled at her chest.

“Is that your heartbeat or your bending?” She asked.

“Probably heartbeat.” Katara said with a laugh. “The water chakra is lower down. And the Water Tribe thinks the chi is held in the bladder anyway.”

Thuy lowered her hands toward Katara’s lap and concentrated.

“I think I can feel it, but it’s weird.” Thuy said.

Alarmed, Katara looked back at Zuko for a moment.

“Weird?” She repeated, looking at Thuy, who was frowning at her hands.

“Maybe it’s me, but it feels similar to the energy around your heart.” She said. Then, shaking her head, she sat back. “I must not understand.”

Katara leaned over and looked at the book. Straightening in her seat, Katara made the same gestures over her lower abdomen.

It was a weird feeling and she frowned as well.

“What about me?” Thuy asked.

Katara turned and they face each other. Following the diagrams of the book, Katara scanned over Thuy’s body. There was a strong energy in every major point, but a lot of it was centered at her lower abdomen. She was a native Waterbender afterall.

“Try us.” Suzu offered. Thuy stood and went to her friends while Katara turned and faced Zuko.

With the same scan, Katara could feel the energy in his stomach, right where it was supposed to be. With her bloodbending tied to her waterbending, Katara could feel his pulse and knew the difference. What she had felt inside of herself was, foreign.

“You’re worried.” Zuko stated.

“I just don’t know what I was feeling. I get that I wouldn’t have the same thing as Thuy, but even her’s made sense.” Katara said and rubbed her forehead.

“Suzu and Zula feel really similar.” Thuy stated. “And it confused me for a second too.”

“But I’m-” Katara stopped and the blood drained from her face. Her voice lowered to a whisper. “Not two people.”

“What?” Zuko asked, his voice strained.

“I think I’m pregnant.” Katara said and met his eye.

Zuko blinked and then started laughing. He grabbed her, hugging her as they sat and Katara felt tears in her eyes.

“Pregnant?” Thuy shrieked.

“Baby?” Suzu asked as she inhaled a sharp breath.

“So is that why you and Suki have been trying not to puke up your guts all week?” Zula asked.

Suzu whirled on her sister.

“BABIES?” She demanded.

“Katara, this explains so much.” Zuko said, sitting back and pushing her hair back from her face.

“Like what?” She asked.

“Why you’ve been glowing.” He said.

“Hush.” Katara sniffed and wiped her running nose on a napkin. “Look, now that I know it’s not the flu, we really need to focus on this.”

“I can literally not focus on anything else but the fact that you are PREGNANT.” Thuy said.

“Blazes.” Katara groaned, laying her head on the table. With a smile, she placed a hand on her stomach.

Behind her, Thuy and Suzu started hopping around in celebration while Zuko rubbed circles on her back.

“Can you tell if it’s a boy or girl?” Suzu gasped.

“Why would you seriously ask that question of me?” Thuy asked. “Me?”

“Maybe it’s like chi, Thuy, and not parts. Did you ever think of that? Huh?” Suzu retorted.

“You both are giving me a headache.” Zula stated.

“I love you.” Zuko whispered.

Katara sat up and he kissed her quickly.

“Can we figure out how to deal with your dad now?” She asked.

“We might not need to. I’m pretty sure when he finds out he’s going to be a grandfather, he’ll have a heart attack.” Zuko said.

Katara snorted.

“Still.” She said.

“Fine. I can’t deny you anything now.”

“Like you could before?”

Zuko smiled and kissed her again.
